my favorite hc is that the chb head counselors (specifically the ones who were there and experienced the manhattan battle) are best friends.
they have sleepovers in the poseidon cabin (since it's just percy and tyson), they have monthy group outings where they just go out and get to be kids, sally invites them over at least once a week for dinner, they walk to activities together, they're so clingy it's ridiculous.
the campers who experienced the battle get it, because there's only so much death and parentification a literal teenager can take before needing to rely on others, so seeing percy carrying will piggy-back out of the med cabin, or watching clarisse chasing one of the stoll brothers around camp, or seeing annabeth, chris, and katie engaged in a heated debate over which area to plant the newest strawberry field, it's all normal to them.
they will absolutely die if they are not within twelve feet of each other, they legally have to be around each other at all times or else they will lose it. when percy got back to chb after his disappearance, the head counselors spent the day inside the poseidon cabin, all piled together in a demigod puppy pile, percy at the center with clarisse's elbow in his ribs, katie's knee hitting his temple, one of the stoll brothers attempting to use his knee as a back rest, pollux's hand dangerously close to smacking him in the face, and the biggest, happiest smile on his face.
#after writing the fic last night i'm having EMOTIONS ABOUT THEM#i love thalia and nico but i just think the chb year-round head counselors have a specific bond#they're obvi included when they're around#but yk what i mean#the group of travis katie connor chris clarisse annabeth percy grover pollux and will is so important to me#THEY HAVE ANXIETY AND TRAUMA AND ARE EACH OTHER'S EMOTIONAL SUPPORT TEAM#percy jackson and the olympians#heroes of olympus#percy jackson#annabeth chase#clarisse la rue#chris rodriguez#travis stoll#connor stoll#katie gardner#will solace#pollux pjo

#there's SO much bad going on right now I'm not trying to ignore it but I can't have it randomly popping up on my dash either#had a huge anxiety spiral a little bit ago and my counselor said I should avoid social media but I think curating my dash should be fine#at least until I can handle things better#may move some of the blogs to my 'newspaper' list#where I visit them and scroll through like I"m cracking open the sunday paper#then I still can see the good posts but be braced for the bad#not fr#catfeather.txt

Absolutely fucking stupid that my schools suicide prevention protocol is to basically to put someone in house arrest until a professional can write and “prove” that theyre okay so that theyre sure that they can let a student back in. Yeah. Sure. Just force someone to be in the house where they are even MORE at danger when there are literal sharp objects makes it easier to do it
#jesus fucking christ sorry im having anxiety palpitations again#its not fair#guidance counselor isnt even fucking. doing shit. not replying or making any fucking meetings with my therapist#just fucking great#its been on my mind recently#i never accepted it because i never realized it#i knew it wad unfair but i never realized that until now#just like one week before school starts#its not fair for them to basically put me in house arrest for a year while my anxiety brews every day while they sit on their fucking asses#and just. not do anything. be slow with arranging everything. isnt that your whole job?#literally fuck you#this was supposed to make me feel ‘better’ ive literally gotten worse#nothing has changed and i have become a worse person than i was before#i wasted a whole year rotting in anxiety AGAIN. its literally just like the pandemic happened again but im stuck watching everyone be free#and yeah! im bitter about the whole fucking thing! i think i deserve it#maybe i shouldnt talk like this. maybe im just overreacting#all i got out of this was heart palpitations and an english essay topic#just needed to type this out to ground myself a little#anyways ill go back to my regular insane posting after this. maybe…#who knows? maybe ill just be gone one day#whatever#im deleting this later#tw suicide#vent

It’s not specific to dav by any means, I just wish player characters were able to have the same depth of trauma and vulnerability as companions are on their own specific quests at any point in their respective games and Rook seems especially “smiling through it all” about everything because the rest of the game is also very sanitized compared to the others before it
#playing dav#especially without the ability to go up to your companions and just go down a branch of conversation between quests#I feel like at least in inquisition that’s where you could establish a little of Inky’s lore#like talking to Josephine about your family and relationship with them#or Viv’s questions for a mage inquisitor#between the lack of in depth personal prologue like in dao#and lack of tangents like in dai#Rook is a lot more faceless and placeholder-y than our warden and inky especially#hawke had a lot of story built in because they were more of their own character in a way#more established even with some customizable elements to them#I mean you can always come up w your own lore for what is essentially your character#but I think that doesn’t understate what it means to have in-game prompted lore questions that you can choose the answer to yourself#to personalize your own experience#and it makes them seem shallow despite all the pressure that they’re under and the trauma of what they’ve been through#especially after (spoiler ahead avert thine eyes) being pulled into a fade prison and finding out varric has been dead the whole time#you get like one throw away line to your romanced companion that you can’t really know if you’re out of the fade or not and that’s it#where as it could be a very large source of paranoia and anxiety#if they cared to write it that way#like I KNOW I can do it myself—and I am!—but that’s not the point#the point is that every other companion has these in depth character arcs#and rook spends the whole time with very much…#camp counselor/youth group leader vibes because they never do anything but smile and say ‘we can do this guys!’

shoutout to the church camp counselor in middle school who asked me very seriously "did somebody do something to you?" after I came into the worship service crying and didn't want to tell her why.
I was actually just consumed with moral guilt over having (maybe?) cheated in a ball game I played earlier that evening and was convinced I had to tell my parents my Great Sins but I'm glad she was prepared for more than my 13yo anxiety nonsense 💀
