I’ve been reading the Grishaverse books/watching the Netflix show for the first time over the past couple weeks or so and I just have to say that I think it's so funny whenever Kaz gets snarky about Inej's proverbs or Matthias's religious talk or Jesper’s Jesperisms or anyone else being even slightly philosophical or theatrical or whatever because Kaz Brekker is the most dramatic bitch in all of Kerch. Like. I'm pretty sure this kid graduated top of his class from the School of Dramatic One-Liners with a double major in "Commit to the Aesthetic" and "Writing Epic Love Poetry Whilst Maintaining the Bad Guy Reputation". Dude wanted to impress a girl and wasn’t sure if getting the whole ass king of Ravka to find her long-lost parents was enough so he bought an entire warship from his friend who absolutely would have just Given It To Him but noooooo Mr. Protecting-My-Investment over here had to pay a fair price otherwise it doesn’t count.

The only, and I mean the ONLY reason I don't say he's the most dramatic bitch in the entire Grishaverse is because Nikolai Lantsov exists and that man once wore his entire army uniform under his jacket to go volcra hunting in the Shadow Fold on the off chance he would get to make a dramatic reveal at the end. He put a spring-loaded curtain in front of the weapons rack on his personal ship just in case he had guests he wanted to show off for. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did the dramatic flourish every time he opened those curtains for literally no one but himself. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he made that set up after he had guests he wanted to show off for. That curtain either went up two hours before he used it or it was the first thing he built on that ship there is no in between.

anyways YEAH megumi def inherits toji’s protective ass attitude so you bet he’s taking over when his dad isn’t around.

he's seen his dad walk around with you, the terrifying guard dog on high alert as his green eyes glare at anything that moves near you. megumi has noticed the way people hesitate to approach you bc of toji, and how toji seems to enjoy that. and soon enough megumi understands why—it's a fantastic way to keep you to himself. so absolutely he's gonna follow in his father's footsteps.

megumi will get grumpy at anyone who has your attention, glaring over your shoulder as you walk through the supermarket if he notices their eyes on you. especially if it’s a man. what can he say, his dad has raised him well. it just…doesn’t usually have the desired effect. most of the time he’s met with soft coos and squeals when he tries to mimic his dad’s aggressive behavior.

I don’t talk much about Laios and Falin as siblings because I’m usually busy being gay about one or the other, but y’all,,,,,

My heart just hurts for Laios. I haven’t finished the manga yet so idk if they do get Falin back at any point or somehow manage to unchimera her ass, but like,,, I’m just stressed for him. He and Falin clearly love each other very much and this is such a rough situation, because if they can’t find a way to get her out of that form or smth, they’re very much going to have to kill her or do something so she doesn’t hurt anyone. He’s made that clear.

It just hurts my heart because I cannot imagine being put in that place. I’m also an older sibling and if I had to be in Laios’ shoes rn I would end up on the news.

personally, i think the fact that kon and cassie’s sense of style being so different from their original ones can be an important detail eluding to their respective emotion states after yj fell apart and how their grasping for straws for some sense of normalcy. especially with kon just gaining his secret identity and cassie’s essentially evaporating. I think what a lot of ppl r missing abt maddy/tara leaving Owen/isabel behind in their old suburban town is the fact that when maddy/tara left, they didn’t thrive and find themselves per se. I mean, they had the freedom to express themselves a bit more outside of their parents seemingly a bit suffocating hold, but it’s not like they were in queer paradise or anything. They wanted to die. They wanted it to end because they couldn’t survive, metaphorically speaking. Maddy/tara skipped town thinking everything would magically feel better. They didn’t. They still felt suffocated and odd in this life, the same way Owen/isabel did. Only when maddy/tara ‘escaped’ into the show and found her true self within the escapism of this show did she want to live again, and find Owen/isabel to take her with them into a world where she could finally feel like herself. Maddy/tara didn’t leave Owen/isabel for dead in this suburban town- they left to find a world they could both finally live in together as themselves.
