I’ve been reading the Grishaverse books/watching the Netflix show for the first time over the past couple weeks or so and I just have to say that I think it's so funny whenever Kaz gets snarky about Inej's proverbs or Matthias's religious talk or Jesper’s Jesperisms or anyone else being even slightly philosophical or theatrical or whatever because Kaz Brekker is the most dramatic bitch in all of Kerch. Like. I'm pretty sure this kid graduated top of his class from the School of Dramatic One-Liners with a double major in "Commit to the Aesthetic" and "Writing Epic Love Poetry Whilst Maintaining the Bad Guy Reputation". Dude wanted to impress a girl and wasn’t sure if getting the whole ass king of Ravka to find her long-lost parents was enough so he bought an entire warship from his friend who absolutely would have just Given It To Him but noooooo Mr. Protecting-My-Investment over here had to pay a fair price otherwise it doesn’t count.

The only, and I mean the ONLY reason I don't say he's the most dramatic bitch in the entire Grishaverse is because Nikolai Lantsov exists and that man once wore his entire army uniform under his jacket to go volcra hunting in the Shadow Fold on the off chance he would get to make a dramatic reveal at the end. He put a spring-loaded curtain in front of the weapons rack on his personal ship just in case he had guests he wanted to show off for. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did the dramatic flourish every time he opened those curtains for literally no one but himself. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he made that set up after he had guests he wanted to show off for. That curtain either went up two hours before he used it or it was the first thing he built on that ship there is no in between.

I need copious amounts of Expo markers, PowerPoint slides, and glitter to figure out which one of them takes the title it is CLOSE.

privateers need a license and can only operate during times of war, and pirates operate at all times and have no license

licenses (letters of writ) had to be signed by the monarch

so does that mean that

a) Ravka was at war with someone (I'm pretty sure it was anyway but I can't remember)

b) nikolai got his stepfather to sign his privateer's license???

c) when he then became king and Sturmhond was still active, did he sign his own license???

I need the answers because the image of a Tailored nikolai going to see the king of Ravka to get his privateer's license signed is ridiculous to me

Okay, if Leigh´s new novella is about the grishaverse, and she will kill of another character, i have only two guesses and one maybe

First, i think Leigh is self aware enought to realize that the grishaverse books already peaked. Its been enought time after KoS duology to add one more book to the series as an organic continuation. Therefore any adition would be an expanded story, an epylogue, etc. The only way it could peak again is with new characters entirely.

Its important to mention it, because i think that most people know that killing off important characters after your peak its a terrible idea that instead of sadness like you want to evoke what you get is frustration, eye rolling or people to see it as desesperate (No i am not saying narickriordanames)

If you haven't read all the books, beware of the spoilers

Even without this in consideration, some characters being killed just brings more trouble than a clousure. Meaning: Zoya,Nina and Hanne have inmunity. The onyl way it would work its a novella that takes place centuries ahead with another protagonists, and them being old already.

Here´s the thing: i believe Leigh can't go higher than Matthias (being the closest to a main character death) or David (being there from the start) , i seriously doubt she would step up of that, if she were she would have done it at the grishaverse peak, which like i said, its over.

Ohter thing is that its not very on brand for Leigh to kill of women that went trought a lot, otherwise she would have killed off Alina, so Inej and Genya are safe too. In fact, she hardly kills female characters at all, that aren't antagonists or very minor, i can only think on one female character that can be killed.

Kaz and Nikolai are too popular to die, lets get real. Even if Kaz is the crow most likely to die(so you can figure out Wesper are safe) ...he is still very unlikely to die.

I don't know how to explain this, but i think if she would kill Tolya or Kuwei she would have done it already, or kill of Tolya instead of David in RoW

Now, there´s the danger zone:

I think Adrik or Mal would be decent candidates if it weren't for

-Unlike Genya, Alina doesn't have her friends around all the time. While of course she could eventually heal, i think it would be unsatisfying if the least we see of Alina is grieving, considering Mal was brought back to life in order to be with her. So, for this reason only i think Mal is safe

-Now, Adrik would be surely the next target, after all there´s a remaining etherealki (Nadia) to fill up , but i think if we could notice that killing off another member of the triumvirate would seem repetitive, so would Leigh.

To finish up, this doesn't mean this characters are certainly going to die, just that this are the mot likely options : Colm and Misha

Maybe, just maybe Marya, but given that Wylan´s arc was more closed that Jesper´s its less likely than the previous ones

Something about how Nina created the fake plague in Ketterdam and she made the siren sound and how when it starts ringing Kaz says it wails like the piercing cry of a woman in mourning and when Matthias dies Nina screams and the scream scratches against the empty place where her heart used to be something something

Every once in a while I remember that @netflix has denied us the scene of Jesper and Kaz brawling like children and I get sad. Seeing Kit and Freddy scrap it out would have been really amusing, especially when you know what sweethearts they are.

the first time I read the “he told them everything” scene before the reveal, I was SO prepared to defend wylan with every bit of my soul. bc a sixteen year old boy getting the shit beaten out of him on the orders of his father, who had tried to kill him over and over again just bc of his disability—the disability that brings him so much shame still? yeah, even if he had told his father everything for real, I would have stood by him. anyone who wouldn’t have truly does not understand just how much trauma wylan faced within such a short period of time.
