what made you hc transmetri ?

It just makes sense to me (^u^) he gives a very trans swag-esque vibe in general in my opinion, and also the fact that he’s never been traditionally masculine like the other male characters on the show, especially to the characters within the show (Johnny calling him “princess” in 1x06 and Hawk-phase brick eater Eli consistently using “pussy” as an insult), adds to that difference in gender identity that I’ve slapped onto him

Also, there was the one line in 2x05 where he was like “are you guys doing shirts versus skins? ‘cause I prefer to be a shirt” which makes me point at my screen like a monkey in an enclosure going “transmetri REAL!!!” before being dragged away to the insane asylum (also the fact that we actually never see him without a shirt ever)

Also also it’s just fun d(^_^o) It’s become a more personal thing as time passed, especially bc on TikTok when I post edits of him I put the trans and mlm flags as borders and other ppl have been like “omg trans Demetri real” so it’s also kind of a shared-headcanon thing that makes it extra special for me :o]

when someone says "i've hated demetri at first but at the end of S2/S3/when he started being good at fighting i started to like him" i always think that this person started to like demetri but like. not the Essence/Narrative of demetri

because by some time of the show, usually the time these Dudebro CK Fans hated him, he's an antithesis for hawk and to hawk's bizarre masculinity ideals. usually those fans don't only really love hawk but project on him as well, because eli was a scared bullied loner with only one friend who managed to "flip the script" and turn into a popular jock who got girls (something lots of the dream of doing/being).

the thing is, hawk's ideals of masculinity are bad. he turns into a dick, mistreats his friends for not meeting their ideals of masculinity and treats his girlfriend badly and demetri is not only a character to not want to meet these standards but to openly call out how much of an asshole that's making him.

and when they project into hawk like "That's who I wanna be!" and demetri does not feel a necessity to flip the script like hawk and calls out that hawk is being a huge dick, they say demetri is an annoying asshole because it almost feel like a personal attack, like this weak fragile talkative guy is saying to their face that being this macho man is going to turn you into an asshole

and when demetri learns fighting and makes amends with hawks, the Dudebros with no reading comprehension understand that this is demetri meeting their standards of masculinity and now he's officially Cool Manly which, no, demetri is in the story to deny it and prove how harmful it is
