I'm so insane over Dragon Age rn for example
"Sera: Think I could find some Sentinel breeches?
Solas: Do I want to ask what for?
Sera: So I could wear history. On my butt. Butt history. (Laughs.)"
AND THEN HE PROCEEDS TO WEAR THE FANCY VERSION OF SAME SENTINEL BREECHES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOK ME IN MY EYES AND TELL ME HE WASN'T EVEN ONCE HAUNTED BY SERA'S VOICE AND BOISTEROUS LAUGHTER AS HE WAS PUTTING ON THIS ARMOR
AND TELL ME THAT SERA DIDN'T IF A BIT RELUCTANT FIND IT (the idea of him wearing this) HYSTERICAL

okay but did wilson buy a whole new engagement ring to propose to house with? or was it from one of his old proposals that his ex wives returned to him? i doubt he would buy a new ring to fake propose with but like i also wouldn’t put it past him. and what did he do with it after? did he just like hold onto it for the next time or did he actually give it to house in a joking “haha i mean you didn’t say no so here’s the ring” even though he definitely won’t wear it and it definitely won’t fit him.

So, Lily/Chanterelle/sister sunshine goes by many names. But she doesn’t just adopt the names~ she takes personality traits with them. For example, in the end of ‘Anne,’ she takes that name from Buffy. Buffy is strong, and independent, And Lily has never been that. We always see her relying on other people to take care of her (her boyfriend, falling into a vampire cult because she’s easily led, not wanting to split up from buffy while investigating because being alone scares her.) She’s probably trying to find the affection and protection that she never got at home (she ran away from home at a young age, so I’m gonna assume her parents weren’t great.) Now, this is less well known, but fun fact~ In a deleted scene in anne, Lily tells Buffy her original, birth name, Which is Joan. What does Buffy name herself in ‘tabula rasa?’ Joan. At the end of tabula rasa, Giles, (Buffy’s only remaining parental figure) leaves. Lily took Buffy’s (Anne’s) name when she needed to feel more strong and independent like she was. Buffy took Lily’s (Joan’s) name when she needed to be comforted by her parental figure and wasn’t, just like Lily probably wasn’t. Who did Lily turn to in season 2 (lie to me) when she wanted to feel less alone? Spike. Who does BUFFY turn to at the end of tabula rasa when SHE wants to feel less alone? OH YEAH, SPIKE.

All memes aside, I believe the finale may have given us precedence for a canon gay Gwayne.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gwayne voices no sympathy for Criston's plight, only an order: to resist. "Then respect your oath," he could have directed. The word choice here is snappier, of course, but also more compelling—could Gwayne also be familiar with resisting desire?
More under the cut:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the conversation continues, however, Gwayne makes no mention of himself. He could have said, "We all find a way, your Kingsguard brothers included." Grouping himself with those "morally superior" to Criston would have fit here, given his tendency for condescension. Instead, Gwayne places female temptation as a hardship other men must face, removing himself from the notion entirely.
Gwayne refers to the Kingsguard's oath, of course—an oath he's never taken, therefore giving him no need to "resist" desiring women, in theory. Perhaps there's nothing more to his words than this. The most straightforward reading of this scene has Gwayne confronting his preconceptions about Criston, as well as his own views of honor. The finale finally brings these mismatched men on level ground: one laid bare by the horrors they've witnessed together.
But, perhaps, there is further subtext here. Freddie's performance brings an added layer of emotion to Gwayne—what reads as protective chivalry over Alicent, burgeoning sympathy for Criston, and a shifting of his worldview. It would be compelling, however, if there was an even deeper reason he seems so moved. To nearly tears, as some have pointed out.
Perhaps Gwayne needs not fight his lusts for women, because that lust does not exist at all. Perhaps resisting desire is a concept he's all too familiar with, informing why he's so righteous about Criston's oath-breaking. If a royal Kingsguard can break an oath for forbidden desire, why must he hide his own?
If we are to believe Gwayne might be gay, could an attraction towards Criston play into his twisted feelings? Who knows, but it would make excellent television.
ANYWAY, I think it's very interesting, is all! Thank you to the writers and Freddie and Fabs for giving me so much to play with in so few words.

I'm struggling with affectionate / pet names that sound natural for Superbat dialogue.
I like the idea of Clark defaulting to the term of endearment his parents used (probably something simple -> dear/honey?) but then I'm still not sure.
I do like Clark calling Bruce "Mr. Wayne" playfully/in his "reporter voice" & Bruce playing along, but that's obviously circumstantial.
I strongly believe Bruce is fundamentally sweet to the point of cheesiness, but I haven't found what that is yet.

High Tolerance
I have no good way of saying this, so fair warning that this is already weird. I wonder what Dagur's pain tolerance is. I feel like it's high. I'm almost certain we've never heard him make any "ow" type sound and he's definitely had the chances. This is by no means a complete run down, but here are some that come to mind:
He's gotten whacked into the boom of his ship courtesy of Alvin. (Whacked again in the face later)
Blasted by Toothless
Punched by Astrid and Heather
Tail clubbed by Shattermaster (before they were buddies)
Shot with an arrow (Had another arrow in his shoulder and waiting to be taken out)
Hair was lit on fire
Has exploded a few times courtesy of Barf and Belch
Through it all, I've heard him yelp in surprise or because he's falling, but it's never like, "Well, that hurts." We've definitely heard other characters do this. I remember Snotlout's cry when Hiccup punched him and Astrid's yell when she got an arrow to the leg. So, is it just me or is Dagur's tolerance just super high? The messed up part of me wishes we could see when he got his scar because if anything is going to get a reaction out of him, I'm betting that would. Or maybe it wouldn't. If it didn't, then he definitely can stand a lot of pain.

momo’s development with these cats is a parallel to aang and zuko. at first the cats are chasing him around relentlessly, but when momo sets them free from the cage they become best friends and the cats help momo achieve a goal. this mirrors how zuko chased aang around the entire world until aang helped him find redemption (with the catalyst for this being the blue spirit episode where zuko is the one freeing aang). then zuko and aang become best friends and zuko helps aang achieve the goal of defeating ozai

From a psychological standpoint Gogeta and Vegeto are kind of messed up.
i know the answer is probably a simple don't think about but think there's a lot to unpack here
We see they have personalities that mix Goku's love for fighting with Vegeta's overconfidence, but does that mean they have a mind of their own? apply the "I think therefore I am" logic to this and get crazy; Gogeta is aware there is a fusion, but does he have a will of his own?
Does Gogeta's personality experience ego death whenever they un-fuse?

I'm mildly interested in what the thought process was for making the outline of Logan be red after talking to Scott, who only ever sees in shades of red.

Now the really important question.
Which of the Postal Dudes has the bigger, shall we say... Rifle?
I was planning on writing or drawing something NSFW with P2 or P3/Other Dude and suddenly I had this question. I want to be faithful to canon in everything, especially in small things, but the problem here is that I don't know what canon is. Canonically, P2 Dude seems to have a small pecker, right? But what about the others? And is it abnormal that I intuitively feel like P3 Dude has a bigger one😔...
I don't know much about this topic, I'm silly and goofy and I'm probably making a fool of myself right now.

You know sometimes I consider whether or not coffee in Amphibia is not as strong as human coffee or if Marcy is just immune.
Because you see she consumed most of 8 cups of coffee in what appears to be one sitting and went back for more. Assuming the same average amount of caffeine that is almost double the maximum amount recommended by the FDA. But she shows literally no effects.
Meanwhile Sprig and Hop Pop display immediate extreme effects when consuming caffeine such as getting a huge boost in energy or literally gaining super speed. And both consumed considerably less than Marcy did. (Though Sprig did consume it at a considerably faster rate)
And you see I can’t find any information on the effects of caffeine on frogs in comparison to humans because apparently that is not something that people actively write (or at least not without me having to pay ridiculous sums of money to access it). So to quote Anne, “What science do you even do?”
I did find that caffeine overdoses are lethal in some species of frogs. So perhaps caffeine is a more controlled or limited substance, but that wouldn’t make sense given that Sprig was given 5 of them with no problem. And if it was a controlled substance I don’t think they would allow that. But I don’t know because I do not know enough about controlled substances to reach any conclusions about that.
Anyway my conclusion given my complete lack of evidence in any direction whatsoever is that Marcy is just immune because honestly Marcy being a semi magical being with an immunity to caffeine and the ability to spontaneously (and completely unintentionally) set things on fire amuses me. Either that or the Calamity gem’s power was just actively offsetting how much caffeine she drank.

Question for fellow translators and reader of fan translated novels, manga/manhua etc.:
Recently I've been working on translating Chinese webnovels, I haven't posted anything yet but it's been a lot of fun and I look forward to sharing stories I really enjoy with others out there. My question is for both translators and readers I suppose.
When it comes to translating and reading how much of the original format, wording, sentence patterns etc. do you use?
I enjoy adding in footnotes and diving into cultural things like idioms and metaphors, and in general I think it's always better to stay true to those to try and keep the authors original ideas and wording. I think it gives a unique opportunity for readers to learn about another culture and language.
But there is a big difference between basically MTL cleaned up to be readable and really going through and editing. Like, if it were a gradient scale and on one side is MTL and the other is fully revamped and Anglicized how do you find your comfortable middle point? Both for the reader, and for yourself, a translator who wants to stay true to the author and story but also deliver a smooth reading experience?
Am I making sense? Does anyone else have this problem??? Have I completely gone insane???

What is Giles and Milton's deal anyway, like, they're centuries old wizards who apparently travelled to Earth at some point according to MH, and founding the school in 1812.
But where does the Grimm family fit into the mythos of Ever After?? Did they already have influence and EAH just solidified it? And while I don't care the backstory bit from Thronecoming, their father also placed importance on the stories. So I guess it makes me wonder how the destiny cycle looked before the school, and the Grimm family's possible place in it.

Thinking abt how only the perfect family harmony can shatter diamond and yet Velvet and Veneer never accidentally broke Floyd's prison
Either the family harmony stuff is just a trolls thing or it's a neat way to show how V and V were never fully truly in sync with each other like the Bros were in the finale due to Velvet chasing her own perfection and fame while Veneer didn't want to, never stopping to reconcile with her brother
