if you like dead poets society, you may like these!
just for fun: a little list of movies, shows, and books i like that i feel have something in common with dps. hopefully you'll find something you'd like, too!
not in any particular order. just the order that i thought of them in really
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
A Separate Peace
by John Knowles - published 1959
a coming-of-age novel set at an all-boys new england boarding school. follows two boys, Gene and Finny, and their experiences during the summer and winter sessions of 1942. talks a bit about WWII and what role the boys may have to play in that, but it stays pretty focused on the school and the emotions involved during this time in one's life. all the growth and transformation and oddly homoerotic, perhaps very codependent, friendship of a bildungsroman that we love to look for.
one of my personal favorite books, even considering that it was assigned reading. i truly believe many of you would like it and i know for a fact some of you can vouch for me
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
by Stephen Chbosky - published 1999 movie adaptation: dir. Stephen Chbosky - released 2012
follows Charlie and his general struggles of high school and with being, well, a wallflower. from goodreads: "Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that the perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite."
very emotional. that's all! i preferred the movie, but i liked the format of the book being completely in letters that Charlie was writing. they're both good! (if you watch the movie, the english teacher's name is Mr. Anderson. so do with that information what you will...!)
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Matilda
by Roald Dahl - published 1988 movie adaptation: dir. Danny DeVito - released 1996 musical adaptation: dir. Matthew Warchus - released 2022
a young girl with an aptitude for reading discovers she has telekinetic abilities at the same time she begins attending school. unfortunately, the principal is an extremely harsh woman, and none of the students seem to enjoy it there. Matilda uses her courage and newfound powers to change her environment for the better, both at school and in her abrasive home.
such a good movie, a childhood favorite. the musical has a great soundtrack too!
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Good Will Hunting
dir. Gus Van Sant - released 1997
a janitor is recognized as a mathematical genius by an MIT professor, and he goes on an emotional journey to embrace his intellect. starring Robin Williams, our dearly beloved inspiration, as the therapist Will goes to see for much of the film.
i only saw it once and my description is lacking but ooh it hurt...... just trust me on this one
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
A Series of Unfortunate Events
by Lemony Snicket - published 1999-2006 tv series adaptation: aired 2017-2019
JUST HEAR ME OUT ON THIS ONE okay. it's about a trio of siblings, orphaned, who are shuttled from one parental unit to another while being followed by a man after their immense wealth. they quickly discover they are in the midst of an intellectual conflict in a secret organization. they must rely on only each other, seeing as all the adults around them are wildly incompetent and/or unhelpful. and it is filled to the brim with literary references!!
both versions have really fun and witty narration, and the tv adaptation is extremely faithful. i don't know how else to describe it without going overboard so i'll settle for not descriptive enough! just trust me. yes it is a kids' series and yes it is one of my favorites ever. it's the vibes of it all
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
If We Were Villains
by M.L. Rio - published 2017
about a group of Shakespeare theater students at a very pretentious arts school who find themselves in a very high-tension dynamic following a disaster that occurs after their halloween performance of Macbeth. lots and lots of Shakespeare, lots of dramatics, and the book itself is divided into five acts.
i finished this in about two nights and it was extremely creatively inspiring. it was a bit predictable, but that's not a bad thing. it still had me clutching my pearls and dropping my jaw
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
"The Artist of the Beautiful"
by Nathaniel Hawthorne - published 1844
a romantic era short story about a man who feels utterly trapped by his occupation. he would rather concern himself with the delicate beauty of nature, and he attempts to realize this in his passion project - much to the disdain of the people around him.
a bit of a sneak sorry. i just think it's just in line with neil's whole thing you know. it's a lot of long and flowery sentences but it works really well i promise
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
The Breakfast Club
dir. John Hughes - released 1985
the letterboxd synopsis really says it all: "They only met once, but it changed their lives forever. | Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal. The disparate group includes rebel John, princess Claire, outcast Allison, brainy Brian and Andrew, the jock. Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently – and when the day ends, they question whether school will ever be the same."
i don't have much to add and to be honest! kind of a stretch for this list! but i have faith
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
obviously there are other shows and movies with the dead poets society leads, but i wanted to sort of branch out a bit for the bulk of this list. i will still list the ones i had in mind though
House M.D. (2004-2012) - tv series about genius diagnostician Dr. Gregory House and his team at a hospital in new jersey. Robert Sean Leonard stars as House's best friend and head of oncology Dr. James Wilson. very comedic but also very heartwrenching.
Tape (2001) - three friends meet at a motel room and dredge up and argue over unpleasant events of the past. starring Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard.
Before Sunrise (1995) - from letterboxd: "A young man and woman meet on a train in Europe, and wind up spending one evening together in Vienna. Unfortunately, both know that this will probably be their only night together." Ethan Hawke plays one half of the lead duo.
and yeah there's a LOT more but those are the ones i've seen and sincerely recommend. not to say others aren't good but this is a (very) curated list you see.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
phew that's not as many as i thought i had in my back pocket but it's still pretty good. plus, there's some things i havent read/watched yet that perhaps would have made it but alas! such is life
absolutely add to the list if you'd like!! let's all share our favorite stories
#this is my post i hope you like it#what am i supposed to tag. all of them i guess#dead poets society#dps#a separate peace#the perks of being a wallflower#matilda#good will hunting#a series of unfortunate events#if we were villains#the breakfast club#house md#idk im not tagging the other ones lol.#robin williams#ethan hawke#robert sean leonard

History Inclusionist
An "Inclusionist" who believes that identities which are 1) shown to be supported in the community's history 2) are harmless personal identities that don't pose harm to others are valid and should be included in their communities.
Overall:
"History Inclusionism" refers to being inclusive of personal identities based on the identity being:
A self affirmed personal identity (locatable only within a person's interaction with and relations to the world around you)
Historically shown to be included in an identity subculture (Such as in a notable number of personal accounts, poems, zines, books, or other media from a subculture)
Shown to be non harmful to other identities or persons (Such as in more than one professional study)
Examples: - Different studies over human history have concluded that being raised by gay parents doesn't cause inherent harm to children. Therefore, gay relationships are provably shown to be non harmful. They are included here. - Different self-reports, comics, zines, and other writings from the past 60 years mention male lesbians, bi lesbians, and lesbians in relationships with men. Therefore, it is historically shown to be included in lesbian culture, and is included here. - Studies, reports, and other examinations by professionals over the course of human history have come to the conclusion that minors in relationships with adults cannot properly consent and are harmed by those "relationships." Therefore, personal identities that try to justify these "relationships" are not included here.
"Personal Identity"?
"Personal Identity" is a purposefully broad term meant to apply to most self-affirmed forms of identification (plurality status, orientation, gender, etc).
Being a History Inclusionist means that you are in complete support of the following personal identities:
Plurality which does not attribute its origins to trauma
Lesbians who are also male / Gay men who are also female
Lesbians who are also mspec (bi, pan, poly, etc) / Gay men who are also mspec
Transgender / nonbinary people who don't experience dysphoria or only feel euphoria
Nonbinary genders, including xenogenders / nonbinary genders that are "atypical" (based on fictional characters, highly specific, based on animals, etc)
"Atypical" relationship formats such as polyamorous relationships, relationship anarchy, kink-focused relationships, etc (Or generally any other form of relationship between two or more consenting people that would not fall under anything on the list below this)
Gender presentations which conflict with and/or defy the expected norm (Women who use he/him pronouns, men who present feminine, etc)
Being a History Inclusionist means that you absolutely do not tolerate or support the following:
Acting on or encouraging attraction to children as an adult (Ped*philia)
Acting on, encouraging attraction to, or associating positive feelings with the attraction to one's family members (Inc*st)
Acting on or encouraging attraction to, or associating positive feelings with the attraction to animals (Z*ophilia)
TransID/TransX communities, the idea that someone can transition into or identify as an age, disorder, or condition they physically are not or do not have (transrace/diarace/trace, transabled/transdisorder/'transplural'/transautistic, and so on)
Arguing with other members of the LGBT community over who is allowed to use derogatory words (Q-eer, f-ggot, d-ke, and so on)

Hi, how to write a Bildungsroman?
Like in the course of a single book, say, Jane Eyre, or in the course of a series, say, Harry Potter.
(Does it have to be linear storytelling for it to be one? Or can I go back and forth with flashbacks, still covering all the important years of a human life, say childhood, adolescence, teen, new adult, adult, etc.?)
Asking anonymously because it feels like I should be knowing this already. 😭
Writing Notes: Bildungsroman
A novel dealing with one person's formative years or spiritual education.
The German word Bildungsroman means “novel of education” or “novel of formation.”
A literary genre that focuses on the psychological and moral growth of a protagonist from youth to adulthood.
This genre is a favorite among writers who enjoy delving deep into character development, tracing the emotional and intellectual journey of their protagonists.
A specific type of coming-of-age story in which the character gains knowledge and experience, even as innocence is lost.
The bildungsroman traditionally ends on a positive note, though its action may be tempered by resignation and nostalgia.
If the grandiose dreams of the hero’s youth are over, so are many foolish mistakes and painful disappointments, and, especially in 19th-century novels, a life of usefulness lies ahead.
In the 20th century and beyond, however, the bildungsroman more often ends in resignation or death.
EXAMPLES
J.D. Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye”
Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations”
Typical Structure of a Bildungsroman
A typical 3-part structure:
The set-up, which introduces the protagonist, most often during his or her childhood.
Experiences that shape the protagonist's character, often culminating in some sort of spiritual crisis or loss of faith.
The protagonist reaches maturity, which usually involves them finding a sense of peace with themselves, or of belonging in the world.
Though this structure is not always used by writers of Bildungsromans exactly as described here, it is extraordinarily common for Bildungsromans.
Another Structure of a Bildungsroman
A Bildungsroman centers on the main character’s transformation to reach maturity. Here’s how the plot may unfold:
Loss: The protagonist experiences a profound emotional loss at the beginning of the story, typically during their childhood or adolescent formative years.
Journey: Inspired by their loss, the protagonist sets out on a journey, either physical or metaphorical, to find the answer to a big question and gain life experience that will help them better understand the world.
Conflict and personal growth: The protagonist’s path toward maturity is not an easy one. They make mistakes and are usually at odds with society. But as the story continues, the protagonist slowly accepts the ideals of society and society accepts them back.
Maturity: The protagonist demonstrates immense psychological growth, change, and maturity by the end of the novel. The story sometimes ends with them giving back and helping someone else on the path to maturity.
Common Features of a Bildungsroman
There are a slew of common characters, themes, and plot devices that authors historically have used when writing novels in the Bildungsroman genre. While no Bildungsroman has all of these features, a true Bildungsroman is likely to have at least one of them.
Common Supporting Characters in Bildungsromans
The Wicked Authority Figure
The Enchanting Same-Sex Friend
The Unrequited Love
The Kindly Teacher
Common Themes in Bildungsromans
God and the Sublime
Class Struggle
Sexual Frustration
The Supernatural
Common Plot Devices in Bildungsromans
Being "sent off" to boarding school, jail, hard labor, or a distant relative's house
Alienation from one's immediate family
Financial crises and/or "rags-to-riches"
Physical punishment and/or harsh living conditions
Fleeing, running away, and travel to an exotic land
Spiritual crises and encounters
Common Protagonists in Bildungsromans
The Orphan
The Misfit
The Runaway
The Artist
Variations of Bildungsroman
Within the genre of Bildungsroman, there are several more specific terms (all of which come from the German language) that have been used to sub-categorize books in the Bildungsroman genre. While these terms aren't used commonly anymore, they do underscore the importance of the themes of growth and formation at the center of every Bildungsroman.
Entwicklungsroman: A novel of development; differs from bildungsroman in that it does not necessarily involve the process of growing up.
Erziehungsroman: (“novel of upbringing”) A novel of education; emphasis on schooling and knowledge, whether academic or otherwise.
Kunstlerroman: A novel about the development of an artist.
Zeitroman: A novel that considers the evolution of the protagonist's socio-cultural atmosphere and era along with his own personal development.

Nothing to be ashamed about asking this! You can definitely use flashbacks in this genre. Hope this helps with your writing <3

Adults pretending to be hurt when playing with younglings to encourage them is definitely universal
Yes. Doesn't matter the species, one MUST cultivate the survival skills in the little ones.
Cybertronians are no different in this regard. It is highly beneficial for younglings to have the feeling of victory when training. It gives them the chance to find their limits and hone in on their confidence. Sure, they may not all be fighters, but the bonding of the moment has its own benefits. The mock fights allow families to grow closer and for mentors to show trust in their wards.
Again the mock fights vary between cultures, but as a general rule, grounders will engage in races with their younglings. Let the youngling get ahead just enough to win, that way they will have faith in their speed. Grounders will also pull minor awareness checks by sneaking up on their youngling and poking at them to see if they are paying attention. Sometimes they make extra noise just so that a youngling with a low win count can have a W. Cassette carriers, minicons, and beastformers may engage in games of tag, allowing their wards to run ahead and get a decent distance out of range before the game begins. Its all to let the youngling feel a hint of power.
Fliers are a bit different. They tend to fly in formation and let their little ones slowly take the lead. And when they are feeling more playful, the adults will begin to try and close in on a youngling almost as if they are going to attack. The youngling in question then has the chance to swoop out of the way and transform to push their mentor, a slight victory. It's all about air maneuverability. And sometimes young fliers are even allowed to chase their mentor through the skies with the singular goal of not losing sight of them. In these games, mentors love to fly through clouds and then come out at just the right time to let the little one win.
Of course in actual mock fights, grounders and fliers alike try to refrain from making too much of a scene. Sometimes a particularly sensitive youngling will believe they have actually harmed their guardian and will break down. As such, usually a Cybertronian will instead make a show of being tired to allow their youngling a feeling of victory.

I realize I'm saying "Step outside your reading comfort zone, step outside your reading comfort zone" over and over again and people might actually be interested in doing that, but might not know where to start, or really where their 'reading comfort zone' ends. Well, the good news is, there's a lot of "book bingos" and other reading challenges on library websites and blogs all over the place that have plenty of prompts for books it might not occur to you to read--I'd say like exercise though, you obviously don't want to immediately force yourself to read something you know is going to make you miserable.
Like if you say, "Well I've never read a biography before, so I grabbed this giant fucking brick on President Warren G. Harding, but it was boring and it sucked. Oh well, I tried. Back to fanfiction." Like, come on, there's no way in hell you were engaging in good faith there. There really is a lot of accessible nonfiction out there, if you're willing to look, and also don't be afraid to ask your local librarian for help. Also even if you're a grown-ass adult, please don't feel ashamed about reading non-fiction adapted for younger readers to ease yourself into it. Podcasts and media communities can also help steer you to nonfiction subjects so that you're springboarding from something you know you're interested in, to something you wouldn't usually read--I got steered to "Frozen In Time: The Fate of the Franklin Expedition" and have added Jean Genet to my To-Read list because of the Terror fandom.
Also short story collections and essay collections are your friends!! You don't have to complete those cover to cover! You can bounce around as you need and it's still different enough content and style for your brain to form new neural pathways! You can give your brain tiger a pumpkin full of meat for enrichment while still being ADHD as hell!
Stepping outside of fictional genre comfort zones can also be a trickier bird, but there are ways to go about it! If you're interested in tackling a classic, there are a lot of substacks which can often come with their own respective communities to help keep you motivated through the drier parts. Like, yeah those communities might not be as big of a phenomenon as Dracula Daily, but it really does help to have buddies to discuss the book as you go along. Like, yeah I'm currently behind in my reading of Moby Dick, but I'm still motivated to keep going because I want to catch up with the rest of the Whale Weekly crowd. There are also a lot of book list communities that group books by their respective tropes and structures and can allow you to ease yourself to new subject matter. Don't be embarrassed to make "short reads/quick reads" a search criteria when browsing books, as well.
Anyways, what I'm saying is, going outside of your reading comfort zone doesn't mean immediately throwing yourself in the deep end, it can be as simple as engaging with an interest you already know you have, in a text format you wouldn't usually work with. Or vice versa!!

WWDITS KINK MEME
Why not start a revival? Send in your prompts!!
This is an experimental format, so hopefully it works out!
SUBMIT A KINK MEME
FAQ (also under cut for mobile users)
What is a kink meme? Basically a public (usually nsfw) prompt, popularized on Livejournal. One person will throw out an idea that they don’t or can’t fulfill themselves in the hopes that it will spark creativity in someone else! A kink meme can be as simple as pairing + trope, or a full well-thought-out AU!
How do I submit a kink meme? Use the ask button on this blog and it will go into the queue! You can submit anonymously (traditional), but it will be posted either way - make sure you click anonymous if you don’t want your face on it!
How do I fill a kink meme? Any way you like! You can write a fic directly in the reblogs, post it on another site and provide a link, or even post a 32 part series in the replies! We just ask that you link the prompt on your creative piece and/or reblog the submission with your piece included or linked (whichever applicable). If you are putting an explicit fill in reblogs, please remember to add a community label if the original post does not already have one!
Can I fill/submit an NSFW prompt if I am under 18? NO!!!!!!!! Doing so not only endangers you, but the adults in fandom, as well. We can’t stop you from seeking out certain content if you want to see it, but you should not be interacting directly with adults on sexual topics.
Can I fill a prompt with art? Absolutely! If your craft is drawing, painting, crocheting, stop-motion, needlepoint, cosplay, etc etc etc and you are inspired by a kink meme, we encourage you to participate! We also encourage adding alt text to any images.
What content do you allow in submissions? All kinks are welcome - yes, even that one. We will reject submissions that are not WWDITS-based, are hateful in some way, or appear to be submitted in bad faith. Venting, character-bashing, or incomprehensible prompts will be deleted. Transphobia, racism, homophobia, antisemitism, ableism, etc will get you blocked. Due to the limitations of the mods, we are currently only accepting submissions in English or Spanish.
How are kink memes tagged? Tags will include any and all pairings, kinks, applicable tropes, and potentially triggering content to the best of our ability. If we have missed something or you would like to request a certain trigger tag, send us an ask! We cannot guarantee that we will be able to tag for everything, however, and it is important to remember to protect yourself and your online experience. Submissions with explicit language will have community tags attached.
Can I submit SFW prompts? Of course! Despite the name, kink memes aren’t just for porn.
Can I submit prompts with characters from the WWDITS movie, too? Absolutely!
Can I submit prompts with my OC? No, but not because we don’t like your OC - we just don’t know them! These prompts are for someone else to fill, so it has to include characters they know.
Can I submit reader-insert or y/n prompts? Yes, as long as the other characters are from WWDITS!
Can I submit RPF prompts? No, as we prefer that this kink meme focus on the characters in the show rather than the actors who play them. However, celebrities who have appeared in the show as themselves count as characters and are fair game (within reason)!
Can I submit crossover prompts? Yes, under certain conditions. This is a WWDITS kink meme, and we want to ensure those characters have the spotlight! So if your prompt is mostly about the crossover property, or if the WWDITS character is simply one of a medley of different characters, it may be rejected. No Harry Potter, please.
Can I make my own kink meme for a different fandom using this blog as a template? Of course! We encourage this - please bring kink memes back to fandom!!
Who are the mods? Just some adult fans who long for the insanity that was LJ back in the day.
Mod the Impaler - they/them ModMilla - she/her

Welcome to Hybrid Confessions!
A space for human-Pokémon hybrids of all forms and origins to share their experiences, and for others to learn.
I’m your mod, Vanilla. You might know me from @humming-pokemon-helpers. Or you might not. I’m a Hisuian Zorua hybrid, an adult, and I use all pronouns except it/its. Any posts by me or commentary on confessions will be followed by #🐺🍦. I’ll try to keep the commentary to a minimum though. You could just find that on my own blog.
Some (//IC) ground rules for this space:
Please keep your asks and confessions PG-13, roughly. Think of what you might see in (useful, inclusive) sex ed for the upper limit. I’ll still tag those asks as #suggestive though.
No speculation on other people’s status as a hybrid or the like will be allowed. (For instance, a question such as “Does anyone else think that Skyla is a hybrid?” is not appropriate.) //These questions will still be posted from the inbox, just with a [This ask was deleted] response.
I reserve the right to delete questions and comments from non-hybrids that do not seem to be in good faith or foster helpful discussion. (E.g. “All hybrids are dangerous/violent”) //These questions will still be posted from the inbox, just with a [This ask was deleted] response.
If you’d like to ask me a question about my personal life outside of being a hybrid, please just send it to my personal blog. (Again, that’s @humming-pokemon-helpers.)
Anyone who feels the term hybrid applies to them is welcome here, including born, experimentally- or magically-created, and other forms of “true” hybrid, those who transform temporarily, eebies who identify with the term due to their human minds, otherkin, and more. Do note that if your ask specifically implies you are a naturally-born hybrid, I’m tagging that with #tw implied pokephilia. It’s not a slight against you (being my own background), but for the comfort of people from worlds with many differing levels of Pokémon intelligence and senses of ethics.
I don’t take post submissions. If you send an ask with a specific poll suggestion that’s on topic, though, I’ll run it.
If you sign off with an emoji or title, I’ll tag your asks as #❄️ anon or the like.
If you’re an ass or bigot otherwise I’m blocking you. Simple as that.
I look forward to working with and learning with you all! 🐺🍦//Important OOC notes below the cut.
OOC NOTES:
I will not take asks from realities where hybrids are the product of Pokérus or other infection AUs. This is for my own personal mental health, so please understand.
The banner of this blog was designed by Jiaqi Li of the Pokémon Company for Pokémon Shirts, and the PFP is of Hariru from the Pokémon RéBurst manga, illustrated by Mitsuhisa Tamura.
Any OOC posts or comments are tagged with //. The mod behind this blog, @aceoflilies, is an adult! I use she/him pronouns.
I tag triggers, as implied above, in the #tw trigger format, with the exception of #suggestive .
Always open to other suggestions, questions, and comments! My DMs are open.

Pretty Little Liars: reimAgined
Hello Liars of tumblr!
I am a huge nerd for the Pretty Little Liars franchise – I adore the books (I’ve been reading them as far back as the original release of ‘Killer’), and while I love the show, I've always been more than a little disappointed that it wasn’t closer to the source material. During spooky season, I began both rereading the books and rewatching the show, and it gave me the creative inspiration to blend together the best bits of each canon into one cohesive narrative, start to finish. With that said, I present to you all my passion project, 'Pretty Little Liars: reimAgined', as what a retooled, more faithful adaptation could look like.
My primary goal is to tackle the books’ canon and adapt it to span across a number of 'seasons' in an episodic fashion - currently my plan is a 7-season format with around 13 episodes apiece, leaving wiggle room for more as I progress. I intend to weave in some aspects from the original show that were either invented FOR the show, or ones that it particularly excelled in translating… but not necessarily the ones people might expect. This will range from minor storylines and interactions to entire episodes from the OG - albeit through a different lens - if I believe it will help to flesh out characters and the tapestry of Rosewood at large, however this is not the priority. I may periodically condense, expand, omit, and/or change the order of storylines and arcs to make them stronger, and so as to cut down on unnecessary filler. I want for there to be nods that both book and show fans alike can appreciate while also keeping them in suspense over how events unfold; it'll feel familiar, but won't be a twin copy.
My overall creative concept is a period piece set in 2006 (so I'm keeping as much of the niche style and dated references from the books as possible), with a sense heightened reality and a focus on themes such as symbolism, luxury, and indulgence. Think less ABC Family/CW vibes and more HBO/FX, American Horror Story vibes: big on suspense, a dark and gothic aesthetic contrasting expensive and chic high society, somewhat realistic yet simultaneously a bit larger-than-life or fantastical, can range from slightly eerie to downright unsettling, and doesn’t shy away from vulgarity or adult themes and imagery, but does so tastefully and in moderation. Rosewood should absolutely DRIP with exorbitant wealth, lust, disdain, competition, and secrets, but in the flavor of Old Money. My vision is of a nice suburb in New England, where every yard has a white picket fence to hide the imperfections from your neighbors, and petty, political cold wars matter to your social standing at the country club.
The rewrite will have a more serious and mature tone: less teen romance (though, as it IS present in the books, there will still be some) and more focus on psychological torture, thriller/horror tones, the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Alison, the identity and motive(s) of ‘A’, and what ‘A’ puts the Liars through.
As of now, I have a very rough draft of the major story beats that I plan on covering, as I think the story starts to fall apart when you don't have your long-term mystery road mapped well in advance. My goal is for each story arc/season to feel well-balanced and important to the over-arching narrative, and the 'A' reveals are a large part of this. The 'A' thread is the most meticulous and delicate, as any misstep leads to inadvertent plot holes, which is exactly what happened to the show. Most importantly, the 'A' motivations need to make sense in relation to the Liars - that means no Shower Harvey's running amok in this fic!
I’m also going to fix some aspects of certain storylines, and the timeline in general, that were either rushed, dragged out, unnecessary, unrealistic, or flat-out didn’t make sense, adjusting the pacing where I deem it necessary (RIP Never Ending November). This is less so with the books, although they do have some instances - Sara Shepard wtf do you MEAN THAT ARIA STOLE THE STARRY NIGHT - and more so what I use from the original show. I want to give the story the proper room to breathe and the space to gradually build suspense, ensuring a structured flow for every episode within each season’s narrative arc.
I’m aging everyone up slightly, so the start of the series will take place on the last day of 9th grade (making the Liars around 15), and the time jump will be about 2 years, to the end of the summer before the girls’ senior year (making the Liars around 17). Hopefully this will make some of the plotlines a little less icky and statutory grapey when it comes to age.
I’ll also be combining book and show characters as I see fit, giving preference to the books. In particular, I'll be utilizing the ensemble of Rosewood Day students in a much larger capacity than the show did, so to increase the number of suspects while cutting down on extraneous random characters, effectively creating a small community of socialites not dissimilar to Gossip Girl. These people have largely known one another since childhood, and that should be reflected in their interactions.
I'm retelling the story through the mind and voice of none other than Alison DiLaurentis, and she will operate in a way similar to Mary Alice Young from Desperate Housewives: secretive, slightly omniscient, gone yet still very much a part of the Liars' world despite her absence, and playfully watching over her friends as they navigate past her disappearance. She serves as a narrator for the Liars’ inner thoughts and monologues, but will frequently provide her own insight on situations, occasionally injecting some dry humor into the series.
Lastly, the Liars will actually... y'know... lie lol. While the show captured their positive traits, it suffered from the fact that the girls either didn't do bad/selfish things at ALL, or they were coerced to by outside factors. The girls in the books are much more self-serving, petty, and willing to do bad things to achieve what they want. There will still be 'A' manipulation, however I want the general sense that the Liars are victims of their own actions. They should be much more uncomfortable in maintaining and balancing their social lives with the threat of ‘A’ always looming, poised to knock them off the top of the totem pole should their secrets be exposed. The outward appearance of perfection should be, at least initially, the driving force for the Liars. They’ll be more rational and cautious, making less immediate boneheaded and/or out-of-character decisions like the show portrayed, and a bit more reluctant to trust one another until after things have unraveled and bound them together.
I’m currently outlining the details for the first 'season', and I'm about halfway done with the prologue, which I plan to post by the end of the week to gauge interest. I'm open to feedback, so please let me know what you all think of my little passion project!

✰⋆⁺ Steal Your Heart Masterlist ⁺⋆✰
Masterlist for Steal Your Heart; an interactive fanfiction game in which the reader (no pronouns used) and the other nine members of AU ZB1 gain special powers to help defeat your vicious company-- and find adventure, fun, friendship, and love* along the way. Based on the game Persona 5, but no knowledge of the game is required for reading. All ages welcome; PG-13+ themes (specific warnings in introduction post and on individual chapters).
*Collect points during the game to determine your love interest (alternate endings for each member) at the end of the game!
*** Please locate the Resources section for the Game Score Sheet before beginning the game! (or click link above)
⁺⋆✰ Welcome, Player (Start Here)
I expect all chapters to be approx. 2k words; trying my best to condense my writing so I'll try to hold myself to it. Edit: I'm a big, fat liar.
⁺⋆✰ Part One: The Fool ✰⋆⁺ The Beginning
⁺⋆✰ Part Two: Chariot ✰⋆⁺ Kim Gyuvin
⁺⋆✰ Part Three: The Lovers ✰⋆⁺ Kim Jiwoong
⁺⋆✰ Part Four: The Magician ✰⋆⁺ Han Yujin

⁺⋆✰ Game Score Sheet Template
You will want to keep track of the points you earn for each ZB1 member each chapter: this will determine your alternate ending! Whichever member you've received the most points for will end up as your love interest at the end of the finale chapter. Don't want to end up with a love interest? No worries! Just sit back and enjoy the story. :) *Also, feel free to read any ending you want after you finish the game! It's just meant to be fun.
Disclaimer regarding Yujin: Yujin, the fictional character, is 18 in this story. This AU ZB1 is just a bit older than their actual ages! I will be writing an alternate ending for those who end up getting the most points for Yujin. I will only state this once: I will be writing this ending in the same way that adult writers write real young adult fiction novels. This will be written merely for enjoyment of young Yujin fans and does not in any way, shape, or form reflect the personal thoughts or beliefs of the author. It will be an age appropriate excerpt written about a fictional character and remain just that: fiction. Thank you for reading, understanding, and being respectful!
If people enjoy this style of fanfic (interactive/game format), I will definitely consider doing more <3

💛 ʀᴇᴛᴜʀɴɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ᴛᴜᴍʙʟʀ | ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴍᴇ!
This post will include some information about me and a short testimony of my life as a depressed addict before Christ. Thanks for checking out my blog!
💛 ᴀʀᴛɪsᴛ & ᴡʀɪᴛᴇʀ
Howdy! I'm a Christian artist from the southern US who enjoys creating stories & characters that glorify God and share the gospel! 🔥⚔️ ✝️ I like anime and various comic styles. I'm currently working on my own style.
sᴏᴄɪᴀʟ ᴍᴇᴅɪᴀ: compiled on my carrd
💛 ʀᴏʟᴇᴘʟᴀʏᴇʀ sᴀᴠᴇᴅ ʙʏ ɢʀᴀᴄᴇ
It's surreal to be here after taking a long hiatus around 2021. I'm used to having "missing e", a dozen extensions, and all of my pretty post formatting. It seems tumblr has tidied things up to make formatting easier. Back then, I used to copy/paste blank spaces, pretty symbols, and emojis, indent all of my paragraphs, and then use a bunch of key commands to select and make my font size small and neat! Haha! I don't have any problem with people who do that, it was a style choice for writers and roleplayers.
“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness.” Romans 1:18

(CONTENT WARNING: above blog archives have explicit and/or adult content and are TESTIMONIES of what I used to write, portray, and how i lived my life.)
I was part of the tumblr roleplay community and many other rp communities across the internet, including Gaiaonline, jcink, and proboards. I did this hobby for about 16 years before I started to take my faith seriously in 2020-2021. To clarify faith, I was never really a believer or follower of Christ until I was BORN AGAIN in January 2023! Hallelujah! Note: I am not saying Christians cannot role play or enjoy writing as a way to develop characters, stories, etc. As long as it's not used to write content that would make you sin and it's not becoming an obsession.
Before that, I was depressed and detached from reality. I chased short-lived satisfaction in p**nography and alcoholism. I hyperfixated on the horror genre, supernatural & horror anime, tv series, video games, movies, and more. I felt empty all the time, had deep loneliness & despair, a void within me, & I filled it with those addictions.
I had insomnia from late nights living my double life. I was hateful, rude, condescending, competitive, swore all the time, & angry. I had a history of identifying as a bisexual, dated other girls online, and frequently played male roles during role play. I had gender dysphoria, went by 'khan', or 'khanivore'. I internalized a lot of it and would act out by doing drag king and drag cosplay IRL and roleplaying hypermasculine male characters. I began identifying as bi or pansexual, and was uncomfortable being a woman IRL and roleplaying females, even with the few I attempted to portray.
I attended many conventions to portray my comfort characters that I also roleplayed. When the convention was over, I felt like my heart was being burned alive & there was nothing to fill that void. I was never satisfied and sought after dozens of rp communities to take up my time so I could idolize playing hypermasculine male characters in the roleplay communities I was a part of.
Wrote hundreds of thousands of words portraying s*xual fantasies with males & females (which was part of my p***ography addiction). I obsessed over becoming male characters; thinking their thoughts, living their lives, not my own. I was hateful & manipulative in the relationships I sought to portray, breathing threats and vicious gossip against others. I became oppressed by demons while playing sinful music that glorified death, sex, and destruction, created vision boards that made me think of these characters, obsessively memorized their dialogues, and did some crazy forms of method acting. These characters had their own birthdays & astrology signs that I celebrated.
I saw many friendships made, torn apart, and savagely destroyed due to the toxicity of the community. Without Christ, people unhealthily hyperfixate on their idols and become jealous of other people writing better, portraying a certain character better, and seeking all types of 'shipping' relationships that don't go well. I know because that's what I did. I was so competitive that I plagiarized a lot of my ideas and writings from other roleplayers. I hid it for a long time.
But JESUS set me free! He had been knocking on the door of my heart. I did not seek Him, I wanted to live in my filth, I loved my sin. But HE sought after me & my heart slowly softened. And I also had to RESPOND to Him, I chose to finally give my life to him. My eyes began to open. I love being a woman, a daughter of God, enjoying feminine things; such as wild flowers, cottagecore, and dresses. I don’t share this testimony to glorify myself; don’t want the wrong attention or things my old self would have gloated over. I share this testimony of where I WAS, to show where JESUS SET ME FREE!
Seek Jesus - He isn’t religion, He’s a real person, the son of God, who was sent to die for our sins. Someone who wants a relationship with you. He wants to set you free from pain. He can give you answers & true identity; not the CULTure.
If the Bible says we are all sinners (Romans 3:23), (1 John 1:10), that our sins have separated us from God (Romans 5:10, 2 Corinthians 5:18) then you see why I urge you to repent (turn away) from your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. (Acts 16:30-31)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2

How involved do you think Jo will actually be in the TV show? She seems over HP by now
She's over it in the sense that the story is done, but that doesn't mean she won't be making sure MAX doesn't mess up. With the movies, we know for certain that:
She had a look at the scripts and gave feedback when things didn't make sense (his seemed mostly tied to the fact that the books were still being published at the time)
One of her conditions was having a wholly British cast and accurate casting for the foreign characters as well (evidently she went back on that with Depp, though his accent was the least of his issues)
She wasn't deeply involved with the actual casting : we know this because the first time she spoke to Emma Watson was over the phone after she had already been cast, and she didn't know Evanna Lynch had been cast as Luna, despite exchanging letters with her prior. When asked, most of the actors (kids and adults alike) say she wasn't on set and they had very little contact with her if any, with a few exceptions (Alan Rickman, Jude Law and Johnny Depp had in-depth conversations with her about their character).
Beyond that, it's usually vague "experts" or unnamed Warner Bros employees claiming that she had a huge amount of control, which should be put into perspective with the fact that writers usually get NO control. It seems she was consulted a lot mainly because her opinion was respected and the fandom loved her, and the real "control" she kept which actually bothered Warner Bros was over merch (specifically: what she approved or disapproved of, and how much money she took away from the sales).
We know there is a "book" these days, and a team, responsible for ensuring the safe-guarding of the IP, which were consulted during the making of Hogwarts Legacy without Jo's direct involvement (at least none that went public). She expressed more interest for the show though, tweeting about it when it was announced, specifically about how the books deserved an actualised and more faithful adaptation which the TV format would allow.
Obviously the context has changed for both JKR and WB since the 2000s. How involved JKR can be depends on two things: gains and leverage. There's no doubt that Jo has less glam to rely on today than she used to, but so far this doesn't seem to have impacted HP's or even her other work's success. She has expenses she didn't use to have though - Beira's place doesn't run itself. On the other hand, WB used to be a powerhouse of the cinematic industry, but the 2010s were disastrous for them and they are now very reliant on their remaining IPs to stay afloat. They can't risk JKR leaving with Harry Potter… but JKR has little to gain by breaking the relationship and starting anew with a different studio which might not be as willing to compromise (also there is no other studio that big with at least a foot in the UK left).
Tl;dr: Hard to say. If i had to guess, i'd say Jo agreed to be less publically involved, but still quite active behind the scene with trusted intermediaries, and little to no direct involvement with the cast, especially the kids to preserve them from the mob-like behaviour of TRAs.

"Father Leo Brannigan has been a man of deeply religious faith all his life. He is a respected pillar of his community and a man everyone turns to when they’re in need, spiritual or emotional. A chance encounter with a disturbed parishioner after a fire-and-brimstone sermon about homosexuality threatens to turn the good Father’s entire world upside-down. He finds himself strangely drawn intimately to the man he is counseling and is constantly thinking of him in ways he’s not ready to admit. The night he has his very first bombastic erotic dream about the fellow quickly has him questioning everything he thought he believes. Is he falling victim to the very lust he preaches so strongly against? Has the man made him wonder what he’s been missing by being a man of the cloth? If so, can Leo remain faithful in his religious convictions while growing closer to having a sexual relationship with this alluring stranger who has suddenly taken over his every waking moment and many of his sleeping ones?
WARNING: ADULT SITUATIONS AND INSTANCES OF MALE NUDITY."
This book is available on Amazon in paperback and ebook formats.

Hello I saw your post on HRT and how you said that the difference between 1 year and 5 years is pretty big, and I wanted to ask you what is the difference between 1 year and 5 years? I have some friends who are unable to continue HRT because we live in an area where it's banned and they're in the early stages so I was only able to ask them about their experiences but I want to know more to understand it and support them better. Thank you for answering if indeed you do!
Hey! I’m gonna copy-paste another comment I left for someone else who asked if that’s okay, just because it was pretty detailed and I think I said everything I could possibly say, but it was just a random response to someone so it understandably got drowned by all the other notes my post got haha.
Here (+original link):
When it comes to the long term changes I would most aptly describe it as simply MORE.
All of those “early changes” people talk about, literally every one of them, just continue to happen, in ways that are subtle but absolutely crucial for long term and consistent passing.
More facial hair. More body hair. More bottom growth. More voice drop. More body fat redistribution. More changes to face shape and body shape. More muscle development. More change to the hairline, the skin texture, even just the way your brain works. By year 2 I was still excited when someone gendered me correctly, and still felt almost a sense of imposter syndrome when it did happen. I felt like I was teetering on the edge of masculinity. I think I passed as “trans” more than “male.” 5 years in it’s literally not something I think about. I just live as a man. I get gendered correctly from behind, with long hair, in women’s clothing and makeup… and on the rare occasion I get misgendered it’s the easiest correction to make and it’s immediately apparent to the other person that they were wrong, not me. My maleness is not a question. Nothing massive changed, it was just time.
Think about how cis men age: They don’t become adults and become static beings. Their voice continues to drop. Their hair patterns continue to change and develop. Many cis men can’t grow full beards until their 30s. Their weight patterns and body shapes change. Their muscles change, their skin changes. Aging isn’t a separate process from the masculinization or feminization of testosterone or estrogen. What we often take for granted as parts of becoming older men are still dependent on having a testosterone-dominant endocrine system. It’s not a process that starts and ends. I saw one person in the tags say “At a certain point it becomes a matter of aging as a certain gender,” and I think that’s such a fantastic way of putting it.
I think a lot of the early changes get propagated more in part because they’re easier to describe and more objective. Your voice will get deeper, your period will stop, you’ll begin to grow facial and body hair, your clitoris will change shape, etc are so much easier to articulate in a simple and accessible format than the much more subjective way it looks to age as a man. I think a lot of other issues intersect to make this stuff less acknowledged though, ranging from the simple fact that it’s still something of a rarity to see trans men who have been on T for a substantial amount of time—this stuff being widely accessible is still quite recent—plus the likelihood of long term transitioners to go stealth or at least focus less on their transition and thus their voice being heard less in the community than the younger guys who are still excited to report on every change because it’s all fresh and new (and the confirmation bias of the fact that guys with abnormally fast or significant changes are more likely to talk about it online, creating a false sense that this is the average experience), but also more nefarious and/or systemic issues, like there being no funding for comprehensive, good faith studies on long term transition, fearmongering about HRT positing it as this instant all-or-nothing life ruiner that will have you permanently fucking up your body within your first microdose, and the benefit of pushing propaganda that we CAN’T actually successfully transition, that success and long term happiness in transition is a myth. It isn’t.
#Hope it doesn’t sound dismissive to do this I’m HAPPY to answer I just think I said it best there hahaha#hrt#ftm

you know what an ask blog is, why else are you here.
I wont be starting with character fluff, ill put that at the end, so read it if you want a visual understanding of who your talking to and how they will talking.
Warnings
I am an adult [by definition], and since i have little knowledge on who is on the other side of the screen, this space will be treated as an adult area. Posts are subject to include the following:
Suggestive descriptions and intimate innuendos
Descriptions of violent acts or bloodshed
Blunt and brutal honesty, because patience and kindness is a resource i spend at my discretion
Scariest of all, many posts will contain the horror that is "roleplay"
Excessive sarcasm
"Rules"
Asks that are directly sexual in any form will be ignored, so don't even bother
Generally speaking, if you are blatantly disrespectful to any particular group of people, you will be ignored at best, blocked at worst. 2.5: This does mean this blog is a safe place for any and all of the lgbtq community no don't make me type the whole acronym, i don't know what it is.
There is a negative chance you will be successful in shipping the shadow with someone, please take your attempts somewhere else
"Rules" will be added and changed at mod discretion, if and when i see fit.
Notes
The person who runs this blog, me, has almost no idea how to properly format tumblr posts, neither do i care to learn, so everything will be done on a whim
Additionally I have a total of 0 (zero) art skills, so the only picture that will be shown, unless someone else with free time and an interest in this character and decides to make art [which would be awesome], is the picture used as the blogs icon, the mask seen in which is from here.
All of this is done for fun and to entertain the person behind the screen, do note take anything here too seriously, because i sure am not
I have decided to go by "Tome" as how you talk to the mod directly. Why? Because like a tome, I have an ungodly amount of knowledge regarding what is happening in this group of ask blogs, so it felt fitting
Character/roleplay information
The shadow will speak with basic text, while occasionally having changes to their text to show things such as emphasis, or acts such as whispering/speaking under their breath, and to indirectly refer to another person through the use of color and emboldening.
-The shadows actions are depicted through use of text surrounded by hyphens, shown here-
[Mod talk, from I, Tome, is contained within square brackets]
(Context, narration, and important notices are contained within parenthesis)
{Rarely, the curly brackets will be used if mod to character interactions happen}
Reoccurring characters will eventually be listed within this post, when i feel like being less of a side character, please treat their mods with respect.
The "residence" of the shadow is a royal mess of enchantments, letting them have easy access to any part of the lands of the old faith, alternate reality or not.
Character description
The shadow is a creature who's form is crafted from a pitch black substance that seems to hover around the sublimation point, often times acting more akin to a gas than a solid, seemingly at the will of the shadow itself.
Standing around 6'1", they have no obvious gender, with all features being vague and hard to identify, or exceptionally androgynous, additionally having a pair of pointed canid ears sprouting from the top of their head, and several large fox tails trailing out behind them. [For visual aid, think any media depiction of a nine tailed kitsune.]
Their attire is made mostly of muted colors and dark tones, similarly to their shadowed form. Covering their face, they don a handcrafted mask made to resemble a red fox, despite their other canid features suggesting them to be one. Their upper body is covered by a large and baggy grey shirt with torn hems, a deep blue cloak further covering their form, with a light grey scruff, held in place by a broach depicting a red flower with five petals, white semi circles between the petals of the flower, all encircled by a ring of gold. their arms seem to have a bright red string wrapped around them, looking very out of place among the rest of their muted clothes. The attire for their lower body is rough and simple, consisting of a pair of baggy red pants, with several roughly sewn patches made from fabrics of various materials and colors, and a simple pair of black boots.
Final notes
This character exists for the soul purpose of interacting with ask blogs revolving around the game "cult of the lamb" [but if your here you probably already knew that], so while some of the statements of the character might break the fourth wall in the context of the game, that wall has already been removed by the other blogs, so i care not about its existence
The flower depicted on the brooch is not a Camellia, neither is the character a follower of any of the bishops.
The tag "Pages turn" will be used when an ask is responded too by the mod alone, if you wish to see what I, and I alone, have to say, use that tag.

i really don't want to dignify this with more than i have to, but okay. speedrun to address all those paragraphs because i really did not bother reading most of it i literally just woke up
-a dni isnt a callout. its just a boundary. in fact, the reason i said i didnt want close friends of ire to interact was for reasons like this, where this grown adult proceeds to flip the fuck out on people. i didnt make a callout. there wasnt anything callout worthy. just someone being a douchebag. in fact, i was fine interacting with mutuals of ire and ire themselves all the way up until shit hit the fan, in which case i think im very well justified in saying "yeah i dont think our circles should interlap very much". you know, after ire flipped out on Marx, because marx is a friend of mine and anyone who can do that to a mutual friend just because we're mutual friends and just because marx is friends with lys is ridiculous. i wont go into marx's stuff unless they want me to but are you for real rn
-i can post our full convos if you really want i kept the screenshots but here's the rundown: first: saying rxgelord writing age up smut was just "his business" was kinda weird. im gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and say you didnt really mean it that way because you just wanted to argue semantics with me.
and thats the bigger thing than whether it was about rxgelord, myers, whatever. the reason i left the server and the reason i decided i didnt want anything to do with you was because you went out of your way to nitpick and argue about semantics with me, sometimes for over an hour. with rxgelord? okay, whatever. idc. that guy was deeply unserious anyway. myers? that one was just bad faith because everyone knows we were being facetious and silly with the whole "cheating with himself" thing-- the point was that he had done shit like making alt accounts to date himself when he had actual partners because he was someone who frequently and grossly misused peoples trust, we were just wording it in kind of a jokey way because i did not think you needed that written out for you, and the third one, which wasnt about drama at all and is the ACTUAL reason i left
the third one had to do with me expressing that something in the server had blown up very quickly and gone very fast and was a bit hard to keep up with. i asked maybe we have a log channel and be a bit better about plotting because both myself and others had to deal with unintended consequences on our characters we werent prepared for regardless of how much we participated.
ire then proceeded to spend an hour with me arguing about if it "even actually counted because it was in text format" and saying they "didnt understand discord rp" despite having run servers in the past. this went on for an hour. i was polite, because at no point was ire ever actually bringing up a point that was contrary to my own-- ire was just trying to nitpick what i was saying and went out of their way to call my feelings unimportant, amongst other things. after the rxgelord and myers things, i realized that ire was very dedicated to misunderstanding me at every junction, was intentionally trying to put down how i felt in any given situation regardless of severity, and very much wasting my time. im not stupid. i decided it wasnt worth trying to stick it out and tolerating something that was going to be triggering for me (im in an intensive trauma therapy program right now and being demeaned and nipped at is not going to help when i already spend so much of my week in an episode or the aftermath thereof, and i know i can have a temper problem!), so i left, because unlike ire i felt no need to be hostile to people in the server regardless of how i felt about them. and then ire decided to be a massive dickhole to a bunch of my friends, so now we're here.
kind of weird the focus is on me and how abrasive i am when so much of their shit was about lys, but whatever. shrrrrrrugs. and again, i have the screenshots of our spats in the server but it reallllly doesnt matter? because thats what this is? petty spats? why am i catching this splatter again
anyway, calling me a crazy tweaker and an edgelord for being mad at [looks at notes] the man who gave me a seizure and lied and gaslit me for two years is kinda wild. arent you a dabi roleplayer? you love this shit. put me on your blog, i can send you pics for your graphics and everything.
anyways, back to your regularly scheduled tweaking out. love you all.

Hiya! Names Jax I go by she/they pronouns! This page is just to talk about hellaverse and Hazbin. Specifically rebutting some common very bad interpretations and bad faith takes I always see bouncing around.
I do want to be clear this is not me in anyway saying you have to like or support the show, BUT making up things or taking the worst possible bad faith argument to ‘prove’ that the show is bad is not good.
I’m also not going to be getting into controversy surrounding Vivzie herself as there is so much misinformation that it’s honestly hard to dig out what’s real and what’s not. I know some stuff was apologized for some stuff wasn’t and some stuff was blown out of proportion and a lot of it was when she was a teen. Whether you support her or not is up to you.
Personally from what I’ve seen, she’s done a lot less controversial things compared to like- a majority of major celebrities people follow so I think the pitchforks are wild. It’s also funny because Hazbin is literally about ‘bad’ people trying to get better and yet people won’t let the creator have her own character development lol.
Anyway onto to talking about the shows in general for a moment. With a quick interlude into common complaints done in a Q&A format for quick ease.
Hazbin and Helluva is just Gen Z Family Guy!
No! Family Guy is a straight comedy with no furthering plot and 50 ‘jokes’ per minute. If anything Hazbin and Helluva is Gen Z Bojack Horseman or Rick and Morty! An adult show with adult humor where there is a continuous story as well as ‘edgy’ humor!
Hazbin and Helluva are ugly!
That’s up to opinion! Personally I love the art style and think it’s one of the best drawn shows as far as adult animation though!
Eeeww why is there so much red!?
This complaint is so silly to me! Hell has been represented in popular media especially cartoons as being mostly red with red demons for so long that is just default look people think of for hell!
Eeeww why is there so much cursing and violence?
It’s an adult show about demons and the complexities of good and bad in this type of environment. It would be weird if there wasn’t cursing and violence without specific lore reason why there would be. Again this is just kind of the default interpretation of hell we’ve had for many many years!
Why are some of the characters toxic/Bad even the main ones clearly this is supporting the behavior!
This is literally just how stories work! If everyone got a long and had no toxic traits the show would be boring! With no plot!
Yeah well why is Blitzo like that he’s the main character and he’s the worst!
Main character does not mean good character! Again this more Bojack Horseman/Rick and Morty kind of story he is an awful but complicated person for the majority of it and that’s the god damn point, but seems the show is going in the direction of him trying to redeem himself. (There is a trend with people getting redeemed in these shows lol)
Why is Charlie like that she’s so boring!
This is hilarious to me people complain about her being the far reaching opposite of Blitzo! She’s just an optimistic person who wants to see the best in people! People like that exist! She’s just preppy!
People when character is mean and does bad stuff on purpose >:(
People when character is generally nice and wants the best in people >:(
It fetishizes gay men!!
The ‘straight’ couple kisses and engages in make out sessions and implied *cough* stuff on screen more often than the gay couples? Also I say ‘straight’ in quotations because Moxie and Millie are not straight but are a M/F relationship.
Fetishize implies a difference in treatment for the sole purpose of arousal. That is not what’s happening simply showing something in a sexual setting is not fetishizing you dingus.
Honestly I could put a lot here about media purity and having to be ‘the good queer’ because that’s what a lot of these criticisms boils down to. Do you want queer people in media to only hold hands ever?
It’s Transphobic!
Hi! Both me and my my partner are trans! I can extra talk about this!
No! It’s not! Where are people getting this from? Are there a lot of confirmed trans main cast characters. No as far as I know the only one is Sally Mae (Millie’s big sister). Which I might add is still more than most shows honestly haha!
What Helluva and Hazbin are good at though is there is a TON of trans background characters that just exist! No big deal made about them or nothing! If you don’t know Imps are a sexually dimorphic species specifically there horns are different depending on the sex. We see a great deal of imps that are girls with the male horns or are boys with the female horns. This a quick subtle giveaway that hey this character it trans. And honestly I love how casual it is! Even with Sally Mae the plots with her so far have nothing to do with her traness they just let her be a person! That’s amazing!
I also know some of the rhetoric comes from Angel Dust a lot of people think he’s a trans man. He is not, and if he was there would be nothing wrong with that and I stand by that. See his chest fluff makes him have a busty appearance and because of that people went off, but uh- even if he was canonically trans guess what! Trans guys can have busts! Trans guys can like pink! Trans guys can be hot and horny! That’s not transphobia!
People be like “We need more trans rep where they don’t look cis.” And then when giving an inkly that something might be interpreted that way go “HOW DARE YOU!!” Calm yourself.
There is not a lot of body shape differences!
There actually is a lot of body shape difference between characters? Just in general there is a lot more than most shows honestly. Is there a lot of fat characters in the main cast of either show no, but then again most shows don’t have any to begin with either so that’s a weird hill to die on for specifically this show.
But also to add people saying chubby/fat characters don’t exist at all in this style or don’t fit this style are also willfully ignorant- again the background characters in this show tend to be incredibly diverse.
Would I like to see more main characters be chubby, yeah absolutely but if your going to die on this hill you need to die on this hill for *every* show. And I don’t know about you but I don’t want diverse characters to be made to fit a quota, that’s weird no one really wants that.
They’re queer and in hell clearly this queerphobic!
Just say you want the show to be about straight people and move on. We are allowed to exist in fantasy shows we are allowed to be written as bad people. Again any character that can’t be described as ‘the good one’ is bombasted with being bad reputation. You can’t say you want more queer people in media and then get upset when they are not the most digestible character to the masses. That’s how you get queer characters but boring characters.
