i keep seing anti subtliden folk in the tags ; it seems like there's been an uptick , recently
so here's a reminder that the term nonman has racist history
here's a reminder that anti mspec lesbian and anti mspec veldian rhetoric often aligns with radfem rhetoric and gold star lesbian rheotric
here's a reminder that being anti lesboy and anti turigirl is anti multigender people and exorsexist
here's a reminder that being anti BAF (born as female) transfem and BAM (born as male) transmasc is often bioessentialist and anti baf transfem + bam transmasc rhetoric is intersexist and aligns with exorsexism and transmed rhetoric
here's a reminder that all identities that do not impose hate or perpetuate discrimination are inherently neutral and identities do not inherently cause harm
here's a reminder that queerphobes hate all of us, from the most white allopericis he/him conformist bisexual man, to the "weirdo" bi lesboy alt emo xenogender girlboy who uses he/she and arson/arsons pronouns
here's a reminder that other queer people are not responsible for our systemic oppression, or any kind of discrimination against us; other people are responsible for their own hatred
here's a reminder that queer people have been using "unconventional" and "contradictory" terminology since before most of us were born
here's a reminder that you don't have to understand an identity to accept it
here's a reminder that exclusionism harms the queer community
here's a reminder that it's all of us or none of us
here's a reminder that it's all of us or none of us
here's a reminder that it's all of us or none of us

BEING PUNK IS:
supporting all of the LGBTQ+ community (including mspec folks, intersex folks, lesboys, gaybians, transmascfem folks, afab transfems, ect)
supporting dissociative trauma survivors (this includes being anti endos/ableists, believing itbc* abuse is real, believing persecutors are NOT "evil")
supporting autistic people (this includes being supportive of stimming in public, being pro nonhuman identities, using tone tags when asked)
supporting kink pride (this includes non harmful paraphilias, "weird" kinks, being pro sex workers)
supporting all cluster-b disorders (this includes not viewing people with these disorders as "evil", not using terms like narc or yandere if you can't reclaim it)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Punk queer:
Identifying with the term punk queer means supporting any and all LGBTQ+ identities that are NOT harmful.
This Includes:
xenogenders + neo pronouns
mspec identities (such as bigay, bi lesbian)
aroacespec identities
intersex individuals
multigender people
lesboys, turigirls/gaygirls, gaybians
systemfluid identities
We do NOT support any harmful identities, such as:
queerphobic in against anyone in the LGBTQ+ community
radqueer
terf / terf idology
xenosatanist
transid / transharm / transdisabeld
proship / believes fiction doesn't affect reality
pro harmful paraphilias
ABLESIST in any way (pro/endo/nontraumagenic systems, demonizes cluster-b disorders, against nonhuman ids)

"we need more weird queers!!"
you start parroting TERF talking points the milisecond someone says they are a lesboy or gaygirl
you cry when mspec lesbians/gays exist
you refuse to use neopronouns or it/its, even when those are a persons only set of pronouns
you expect a-specs to experience attraction in some way (yes, that includes platonic attraction)
you exclude intersex people
you can't even accept furries.

say it with me, folks:
someone else's queer identity is not about you.
someone having an identity you don't like or agree with doesn't invalidate your own.
repeat.

people need to realize that dissolving the lines between gender also means dissolving the lines between sexuality. you cannot say gender is fake and then say sexuality is strict and rigid.
there are multigender/genderfluid people who are lesbians and gay men at the same time. there are mspec lesbians/gays/straights who have a complex relationship with gender and their sexuality. there are gay men who are women and lesbians who are men because male isn't the opposite of female.
"conflicting" labels are a part of many people's queer experience, because the human experience isnt simple enough to be put into neat perfect categories. if you truly support trans/genderqueer people, you need to accept the fact that gender and sexuality is complex and there will be people whose identities you don't understand

Give me more lesbians who date men too, who aren't MISERABLE and forcing themselves to do so because of compulsory heterosexuality. Give me more lesbians who ARE men: cis, trans, somewhere in between, both, neither. Give me gay men who also date women happily, who are women themselves to whatever extent. Give me queerplatonic relationships between a gay guy and a lesbian. Give me a lesbian and a gay guy who are friends with benefits. Give me multigender turigirls and lesboys. Give me an individual who is polyamorous and aroace, more gaybians, more nondysphoric trans people, more she/her guys and he/him women, more it/its and nounself users, more queer teens who go by Arson. I could go on and on, but to sum things up: give me the sides of the queer experience that are hidden even by other queer people. Show me the box breaking, the line crossing, the beautiful complexities that arise from being queer. Give me the 'cringy' identities. Give me the historical identities that people are trying to erase. Preserve what they're trying to snuff out.

I am literally fucking BEGGING you all to also acknowledge the racism behind the terms "non-man" and "non-woman" and how they're used in queer definitions.
Black and Indigenous queer people have literally been talking about this since the definition was COINED but there's literally NO acknowledgement of this when pointing out why "non-men loving non-men" and "non-women loving non-women" are shitty fucking definitions to force on a whole community.
"Nonman" and "nonwoman" are terms that have been historically used to describe the degendering of black people in society. And words can obviously be used to mean different things- we don't have to stop using these terms altogether. But forcing these terms on a whole community of queer people is really fucking antiblack.
Not to mention that it blatantly degenders a lot of 2S lesbians and gays as well. It basically tells them that they can't be 2S and as a lesbian or gay at the same time, because then they would be "contradictory." I seriously hope I don't have to explain how racist it is to exclude a large portion of Two-Spirit people from your queer label because they don't fit into your neat little white gender binary.
Like these definitions aren't bad to use for yourself personally- but stop forcing them on all lesbians/gays. And if you're advocating for why these shouldn't be used as the most prominent definition, PLEASE acknowledge the racism aspect of it.

contradictory label culture is having really complicated labels and being scared irl queers won't accept you but then js getting " oh that's cool, ik a couple people like that here. so anyways- " because genuinely. it's all internet discourse, people will respect you and there is community out there/vpos
IT'S ALL INTERNET DISCOURSES!!! BE YOURSELF!! FREE YOURSELF FROM THE SHACKLES!! 💗

"wait but how can that work ?" instead of asking how their queer identity works, and how can it be valid, maybe ask them their experiences. ask how it feels to themself being a mspec mono, or lesboy, or turigirl, or whatever. instead of getting angry at queer identities which dont fit your standard, just perhaps let it go and ask them as a person what their identity means to them. stop policing identities and open up your mind a little.

I'd rather hangout with the straight boyfriend than the queer cop who insists they're one of the "good ones" while harassing people of color
I'd rather hangout with the straight palestinian grandma than the queer zionist who keeps insisting that the death of palestinians is the one way ticket to queer liberation
I'd rather hangout with the leather dyke who is a mspec gaybian and uses paw/pawself pronouns than the puritan who makes "callout posts" clearly targeting disabled queer artists
