had a tgcf and svsss crossover idea
ok so xie lian and hua cheng find this book (or whatever a book is in that universe) by an author named "airplane". wtf is an airplane anyways? so they start reading and its about a world a gajillion years in the future where there's paper that's made out of metal and it can change its image on will? and metal birds that carry people like swords except they're called airplanes and they're designed for the usage of many people at once??? why would the author name himself after that? chunks of metal with wheels that don't need horses???
"why dont they use cultivation" you ask, because there is none! so weird, right? anyways, they keep reading and there's so much stuff they call technology that's basically just magic. it's about an overpressured author who eats food that only needs water to be edible and sends his writing over an invisible spiderweb that covers the entire world. tbh, the author did a really bad job explaining all the "tech". overall a really stupid idea for a novel. xie lian honestly sorta likes it, but it's just wierd. the most odd part? these things keep coming out regularly. they're ridiculously long, and unlike other works from the same author, there's no sex scenes.
xie lian kinda likes it, and reads it every now and then cuddled up with hua cheng. hua cheng loves being next to xie lian, who giggles occasionally while reading, but hates the novel. somehow, shi qingxuan finds it, and shows it to ming yi, (shush leave me with my beefleaf) ming yi claims he doesn't like it but reads shi qingxuan's copy of that day's update every night. knows literally every detail, understands teh worldbuilding the best of anyone. feng xin and mu qing don't bother to read it, but they know a little about it.
one day, the next update is about someone who does something called a comment on his work. apparently, they do it a lot. and the character’s name is cucumber. who would name a character cucumber!? this author is weird. anyways the cucumber does a comment about a bunch of mean stuff critiquing the work and stuff. there are more than 3 pages of just mean commentings. the next page is about his metal paper. apparentlu, the metal paper can’t touch water, or else it poisons the water??? this makes no sense. not even ming yi can explain how it works. and then the main character touches the poison water? what a dumb character, remarks hua cheng.
main character wakes up in a cultivation world. apparentlhy main character was writing a story about this world? how dumb. hualien and beefleaf are crossing a road while reading this when a reckless cart driver is about to crash into them. hua cheng, obviously, obliterated the cart and its driver. problem solved!
later that evening, when the four fall asleep, they don’t awaken (in those bodies, anyways). fengqing finds them, starts yelling their heads off, eventually brings their comatose bodies to ling wen, who shrugs and puts them in a drawer.
meanwhile, hualien and beefleaf are reeling. they didn't get transferred into different bodies, but they are at a hospital. someone who looks vaguely like ling wen tells them that they were found half-dead under the seats of a funeral of some guy named shen jiu. weird. the nurse tries to charge them but, upon finding the only currency they have is merits, groans and lets them leave.  hua cheng rolls dice. nothing happens.
xie lian asks where hua cheng’s butterflies are. hua cheng shrugs, but seems visibly on-edge. none of them are able to do cultivation when they try. people are looking at them weird. who the hell does cosplay in the middle of the street? some guy compliments xie lian and hua cheng on their tgcf cosplay. none of the four understand any of those words. someone asks to take a picture of them. take a picture? she pulls out a chunk of metal, holds it in front of their faces, presses next to them. oh, is it a mirror? but she clicks a white circle at the right of the rectangilar mirror, and it flashes bright white. hua cheng begins threatening her for daring to harm xie lian’s eyes, but xie lian apologetically gets him to back off.
the woman apologises and asks if they’re new to the area. shi qingxuan says yes, and she offers the four a place to stay. ming yi holds up his shovel, arguing that he could just dig a hole in the ground and sleep there. he has to be reminded that cultivation doesn’t work here.
back in the danmei world, airplane is no longer making money from his latest series, “an author without cultivation”! there were a few people buying it, but not anymore. they also tended to overpay wildly. airplane somehow pieces it together; (idk) ohhh they transferred to the human world. he convinces the system to let him and cucumber return to their world, but lbh protests. “where are you going shizun shizun dont leave me let me come with you shizun shizun come onnnnn shizunnnnnn” eventually they let him come too. mobei jun is ok with it as long as shang qinghua returns eventually. they transfer back to the human world, where cucumber finds himself in a coffin, at his own funeral. everyone is shocked when shen yuan sits up in his original body. people scream and shout and everyone is very happy, but cucumber barely remembers any of them. it’s been, like, twenty years. he can hardly remember his parents’ names. he smiles, laughs a little, rpetrends to know everyone, and then lbh arrives. through the window. pulls out an enormous sword. people then start screaming, because omg shen yuan’s enormous murder boyfriend is here. his parents scold him a little “why didn't you tell us you got a murder boyfriend” before getting yeeted into a wall. mmkay that’s happening now. luo bignhe and shen qingqiu spend their first day in the modern world in jail.
shang qinghua pays for their bail. apparently, they all arrived back to the modern world a day after sqq’s death, and a day before sqh’s. time travel? they don’t even know at this point. they manage to track down the other four by following a police report on a man in a red tunic and butterfly jewelry threatening a poor tgcf fan, witnesses report. (the woman wasnt even the one who ratted them out, it was the ugy who complimented them on their cosplays haha.) sqq and sqh share a look. that sounds like hua cheng, from tian guan ci fu! isn’t that a really popular danmei? lbh is just sitting next to them like a lost puppy, following them around, reminding shizun that he can tear anyone who dares question his authority to pieces. anyways they find the four. their conversation kinda goes like this.
sqq: hey are you xie lian?
hua cheng: who are you (the four are very concerned as they have never seen metal birds that make loud noises before)
lbh: how dare you threaten my husband
sqq and xie lian: binghe/san lang, calm down
sqq and xie lian make uncomfortable eye contact. woah. that guy also has an overprotective but lovable husband. neat. homosexuality.
xie lian:  yeah im xie lian, this is san lang, ming yi, and shi qingxuan
sqh: *looks at the other, nods* mmkay and are you familiar with the undiscovered gem of a series called “an author without cultivation”?
hua cheng and ming yi roll their eyes, the other two nod
sqx: yeah, what about it?
sqh: yeah, i’m the author! *waits for applause that never comes*
ming yi: so you know why we’re here?
sqq: well did you read it and hate it or somehting?
*lbh is still glaring at hua cheng. hua cheng is still glaring at lbh*
hua cheng: it was very easy to hate
sqh: *sqq laughs* shut up cucumber
ming yi: *snaps to attention* that was the name of one of your characters! peerless cucumber.
sqq: *laughing, elbows sqh* guess someone doesn’t hate it so much after all
*ming yi smacks him on the head with a shovel. lbh smacks ming yi on the head with his fist. they both pass out.*
sqx, catching ming yi: sorry about him, he can be a bit… (doesn’t finish)
sqh: yeah, no problem. my husband’s the same.
hua cheng: what?
sqh: *completely ignores him and moves on* okay so here’s what’s happening; i come from this world. i teleported to your world to do things accidentally after i died. then i stayed in your world and got a husband and started writing again and stuff.
xie lian: what things? and also you havent told us what you mena by we’re all gay. also why are giant metal birds your namesake?
sqh, swallowing: this is gonna take a while
they explain to the tgcf crew and stuff, and they end up grabbing an apartment. turns out, none of them know how to transfer htemselves back. also, they all appear to be human now. they appear the same, they’re all just human. sqh gets them a flat, and they all sleep on the floor.
ok i might update this later but who knows haha

tarot asks! Sun and Hermit
The Sun — Talk about a game you’ve made that you’re proud of.
yall keep askin this one its very sweet <333
i'm really proud of shadow / giant !! its built on the badger+coyote srd but i did a lot in the way of flavor text and layout design that im really happy with :) i think its a pretty flexible game while still having a strong central concept. genre and setting agnostic but clear goal. if you like the lone wolf & cub trope this one would be for you!!
witness layout <33
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: three pages from shadow / giant. it shows the goals and scenes page, the giant character sheet, and a page on miscommunication. the first page is in dark blue and the background is a littered forest floor with light yellow text. the second page is designed to look like its written on a photo of a notebook. the third page has the text in one corner with a framed photo of a spiderweb and the bottom half a photo of a child reading. end ID]
The Hermit — What are the biggest lessons you’ve learned about game design? OR Are you interested in collaborating with others?
i would totally collaborate with someone, yeah!! the closest ive gotten is making the 5e witch class with @hmooncreates but that was so much fun. and my friends definitely provide feedback on my games as im brainstorming for them. but actually fully collaborating on a game from the ground up would be really interesting and i think i'd really enjoy it. so, you know ... mutuals hmu

ok so. now that we all have context.
scott and jean have a very different vibe from ororo bc they were created by different people. i would probably want to redesign them slightly to fit the ororo vibe? bc i think its a fun vibe. based on jean and scott's costumes (and the fact that they were featured in a single variant) it feels like they've known each other for a long time and are working together, which could be interesting!
emma is on that sketch page bc emma has had TWO spider-man variants that i know of, not including the symbiote one. so i felt she deserved it. in my head she's in her villain hellfire club era (also i think she's already killed her sister at this point)? i think spiderwebs make sense as a kind of metaphor for telepathy, so that's the motif we're going w (this is also carried over to jean). she's very web focused. but what she doesn't understand is that she herself is caught in a larger web!! (the web is patriarchy and the allure of individualistic empowerment). i think she and ororo are enemies that sometimes find their goals aligning.
bc ororo is decidedly punk in vecchio's design, i think it makes sense for yukio to be there!
scott has eight eyes bc there has to be something going on with his eyes. i always want to keep his mutation/powers affected by his tbi, so i imagine there's something going on w his eyes in addition to there being eight of them. idk what that is yet.

"you're always busy being make-believe" binding
A year and a half ago, the wonderful @leblonde gave general binding permission for her fics. And I finally got around to starting a project to bind some of my favorites :)
Here's her fic "you're always busy being make-believe" as I have bound it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Under the cut I'm gonna wax poetic about some of my design decisions
I was debating between green and black for the bookcloth (to match Phil's costumes) but I then stumbled upon this wonderful iridescent green-black fabric in a second-hand craft store and knew it was perfect.
The endpapers are black with a very faint spiderweb design (since radioactive spiders get some credit for Phil's superpowers in the fic)
We've got "business-y" fonts to match the office setting and a briefcase on the title page to represent the one that holds Dan's research in the fic.
Overall, it's not a perfect binding. I'm still learning a lot and slowly improving with each bind. My goal is to bind all of my favorite leblonde fics within a couple years, with more binds in between for practice
As for right now: I've got one more fic by her in the works to post sometime next week, and then I'll be binding more works sometime in the summer or fall of 2024 (gotta graduate college first)

These Dreams
Chapter 1: Blots                  (Ao3) (must be signed in)
For @dukexietyweek 2023 Day 1 -Tattoo Shop/Florist
Word Count: 1020
Rating: T
Characters: Remus, Virgil
Warnings: ftm Remus, genderfluid virgil, innuendo, dreams
Remus dreams about being a tattoo artist, and he meets someone who catches his attention
---
Remus absolutely loved ink, and he loved meeting new people. He also loved a good mystery. Maybe that's why he was drawn to the florist next door. The man was the furthest thing from sunny and bright, and yet he was always making bright bouquets for weddings and stuff. He wore long sleeves year round and he was always looking over his shoulder as if someone were looking for him.
Remus was so intrigued that he would stop by the flower shop after work just to talk to the spooky cutie. Even if he did get a little snippy, Remus could say with confidence that he liked this guy. He was down to cuddle! If he ever got that lucky.
It was a slow day in his parlor. Remus didn't have any appointments booked, everything was clean and restocked, and he was bored, watching videos on his phone. He could let his mind wander if he wanted, but it liked to go to dark places.
And then the front door opened with a chime. Remus stowed his phone immediately and went to the counter to greet the newcomer. He was not disappointed to see that adorable cub of a man and his patchwork hoodie.
"Well hello!" Remus cooed and leaned on the counter, "what brings you to the stab station?"
"That's not the business name," spooky guy said flatly and crossed his arms, "And I'm here to set up a consultation."
"Oooh, fancy words!" Remus giggled, "I can squeeze you right now!"
"You mean 'squeeze you in,' right?"
"That too!" he said, "Come with me to my office and we can work something out."
Remus practically bounced from behind the counter and led him into the main studio. There were a couple of chairs with inks and needles, and a couch. Remus was happy to flop on the couch.
"So you're looking for ink, huh?" Remus asked and patted the seat next to him, "Is this your first time?"
He shook his head and took off his hoodie. His forearms were covered in ink—intricate spiderwebs. Remus was in awe, and on guard.
"I see you have some spider webs there," he mused.
"Yeah. I like spiders. I'm trying to cover them up more. I didn't do enough research on the meaning behind them," the man winced, ready to cover up again, “I’m not—I’ve never been—”
"So you want to get some colorful sleeves to hide the webs before someone mistakes you for a bastard.”
"Yeah. I uh, have a design and color scheme already," the man grumbled and pulled out a piece of folded paper from his pocket. He handed it to Remus and rubbed his arm.
Remus unfolded it and grinned at the two pages of images. He loved the grays and purples and he could even see a few spider webs that wouldn't be obnoxious or red flags. It would be the perfect cover!
"Did you draw this yourself?" Remus gawked, clearly impressed.
“Yeah, I figured it would be better to have a plan so I could get as much done at once as quickly as possible.”
“If you don’t have to be anywhere for a few hours, I can do it now!” Remus grinned, “On one condition!”
“Condition?” the guy hesitated and reached to take his sketches back.
“Yeah, you have to get me a coffee afterwards,” Remus shrugged and kept the paper out of reach, “I think that’s fair.”
The man relaxed and cracked his neck. A coffee wasn’t so bad, and it didn’t have to mean anything.
“Let’s get started,” he said with a hint of eagerness in his low, droning voice.
“Take a seat in the first chair, and take some pain killers if you haven’t already—there should be some in the drawer and some water bottles,” Remus said and motioned to the chair in question. He bounced to his feet and skipped over to a counter with a printer set up. He was going to make this the best tattoo ever!
The man brought his hoodie with him and sat down, not going for the medicine. Remus could appreciate some healthy masochism. He was guilty of being a masochist himself!
He made a reverse copy of the images on some transfer paper and bopped over to his new client.
"Okiee dokiee, let's start with lefty!" he giggled and set the right sheet on the counter.
The man held out his arm and let Remus place the transfer paper on his skin. With a few shifts, he had it in place and held it down.
Remus grabbed a soapy, damp rag and coated the paper, making sure it would transfer to his skin. His client was shaking slightly, which was understandable. Getting inked could be nerve-wracking.
“It’s okay,” Remus hummed, “It’ll sting a little, but not like a thousand hornets, but you already know that. Are you just nervous because I’m hot?”
It was just a little jab to get the guy to crack a smile and relax. Remus was not exactly happy when he went even more rigid. At the same time he was thrilled.
“So, I didn’t get your name before,” Remus said and peeled off the transfer sheet. The man looked up at him with stormy eyes and a cute blush.
“You didn’t ask,” he muttered, “it’s—”
Remus woke up flailing. He was tangled up in his sheets as he tumbled from his bed. He was going to break his damn alarm clock one of these days! It was inevitable, especially when it decided to interrupt his dreams before they ever got to the good parts!
Remus managed to escape his cocoon of sheets and turned off his alarm. He would have to get to class in an hour, unless his professor canceled. He found his phone and grinned at the notification. Janus had to handle a medical issue and class was canceled!
Remus immediately went to his desk and grabbed his sketchbook. He could study, but he wanted to draw the tattoo the guy in his dream wanted. Scratch that—he needed to draw it, because he refused to forget it!

Title: Untitled
Pairing: Clyson
Rating: M
Summary: A fuck or die/sex pollen fiction in the spirit of Valentine’s day. :D Prince Clu goes mucking about where he shouldn’t and has to suffer the consequences.
Notes: Fantasy AU
Here it was the feast of St. Valentine and Prince Clu didn’t have anything to get the one he loved. The problem was that his lover was a Siren. Sugar didn’t agree with them so chocolates were out. Roses would likely be eaten. And Clu couldn’t exactly write poetry.
Just about the only things Sirens enjoyed were shiny things. Trinkets and the like. Clu could just as easily give Dyson a bag of gold coins and he’d be happy.
But that seemed too easy.
So Clu rode into the Great Forest looking for something that might appeal to a Siren. At a certain point, his horse refused to go any farther. Something about the horses not tolerating Faes. Clu tied it to a tree with enough slack that it could still eat before continuing on his own.
He had thought he brushed against a spiderweb but then he felt like something physically hit him. And then he got the oddest feeling in the pit of his stomach. Like when Dyson’s delicate fingers touched it. Clu looked down at his fingers and saw something that was green and sparkly. He raised his fingers to his face and sniffed at it. It smelled like the forest but there was some sort of sickly sweet undertone.
The powder or whatever it was all over him. Maybe Alan would know. And if it was what he thought it was... he was hoping Alan would not be in his study when he returned.
When he returned to the castle, the Prince was in luck. The wizard was not in. Which was a good thing because Clu had a rather impressive hard on. As luck would have it, his armor did not cover his groin. Something he had to often wonder if that was intentional or a design flaw.
Clu returned to looking through the books, though having a rather difficult time focusing. But then he found it. Clu skimmed the pages growing ever more incredulous and uncomfortable by the second.
“You have got to be kidding me.” He said out loud to no one as he made to ride to the lagoon. Dyson was going to have a field day with this one.
----
Dyson had been stringing gold buttons to make a belt when he caught a different scent. Leather, sweat, horses. Human male. Which would mean Clu was coming to visit. But there was something decidedly off about his scent. There was a rather strong sickly sweet scent about it that spoke of pheremones.
The Elder Siren sent the others in the Brood away. If Clu was coming in a mood, they would need their privacy. He slipped into the water to wait for Clu’s approach. And when he surfaced, the human was removing his armor. On which there was a green powder which made Dyson lift a brow. That accompanied by the erection straining at the crotch of his pants tied it all together.
“You went mucking about with in the Great Forest and got hit by a damiana interitio trap. Didn’t you?” Dyson asked as if he could not believe Clu’s stupidity. “Come on. I have to save your foolhardy life.” He instructed before heading to the sunning rock hearing Clu following him in the water.
When Clu got to the sunning rock, Dyson had already shifted to his legs and had gathered a jar of some sort of fluid. “Take off your clothes. You would have anyway.” The wet clothing was peeled away from tanned flesh. Up close like this, Dyson could see that the pupils of Clu’s eyes were blown wide.
Dyson takes note, as he always does, of the various scars and bits of ink decorating his Prince’s body. A rather impressive scar resting in the divot of one hip, likely from a blade of some sort. Other various scars from swords and jousting. His tattoos do not detract from his value but add to it.
“I’ve tried to take care of this myself. It would seem that the terms require another.” Clu spoke, sounding very apologetic. Well, the human was aware he messed up. Dyson quieted him. “I’ll take care of you.” He soothed as he pressed the jar into the human’s hands. “The terms are that you have to fuck or you will die.” He explained as he unwrapped his silks, his own loins twitching at the prospect.
Dyson had only done the act once before with his Prince. It had hurt afterwards but for the most part it had been pleasant. Clu had been patient and gotten him loose and needy. Depending on how long the human had been stubborn, there might not be time for that.
Clu was coating his fingers with the oily fluid so Dyson scooted close between Clu’s parted legs. The Prince parted the Siren’s ass to tease at the hole between them. Dyson shuddered before winding his arms about the golden Prince’s neck, lifting himself up onto his knees to give those questing fingers more access.
Dyson turned his head to catch his Prince’s mouth in a needy kiss. Pressing in with his tongue to taste his Prince’s mouth. Clu had a metallic taste to him, like biting down on a gold coin. His lips part to allow the human to breathe just in time to feel the fingers withdrawing from him. On cue, Dyson got the jar. “I want to do this.” He explained as he got some of the oil to coat his own hands with as his silver eyes settle on his human’s rigid length.
Clu hissed as the cold hands touched his heated cock. But cool skin was a constant with the Siren he had become attracted to. Fingers closed around his flesh to properly anoint it in the slippery liquid. “Dyson. Please... I need to...” The Prince begged and Dyson understood. Not wishing to prolong his human’s suffering anymore than he had to.
He put his hands on Clu’s broad shoulders. “Hold it steady, my love.” The Siren murmured as he positioned himself. He had been craving this feeling again though he had imagined it under different circumstances. It hurt initially with each new movement downward but when he bottomed out into Clu’s lap, he felt one of the human’s arms wrapped around him to reposition him.
The human’s clothes were bunched up and placed under Dyson’s head for a makeshift pillow. “Don’t hold back, my love.” Dyson murmured running his fingers over the soft stubble along Clu’s jaw. The human needed a release and a release he would have. Clu nodded and he started moving his hips with a groan that he was giving into his body’s desires.
The Siren wrapped his legs around the Prince’s waist as his hands grasp the human’s shoulders. Determined the ride out Clu’s demanding movements. He felt one of Clu’s warm hands reaching between them to stroke his own aching flesh in time with his thrusts.
It seemed to be soon that Dyson felt just as hot as the human on top of him was. Though he knew there was no change in his body temperature. Dyson cried out as he came onto Clu’s muscled stomach. He heard Clu give an almost pained sound as he too had a much needed orgasm. Then Clu’s arms gave out.
Dyson switched positions with Clu. He cleaned up his human and then covered up Clu’s nakedness with his abandoned silks. The Siren abandoned his own human legs and settled beside the Prince to conserve his energy when he had his tail back. “You need to rest now, my love. I’ll be right here.”
Clu was too worn out to argue against it. So he closed his eyes. Dyson smiled and rested his own head on Clu’s chest. Listening to his heart beating. That precious sound was the last thing he heard before he drifted off to sleep himself. Nestled in the warm arms of his human lover.

random idea for an alien language that I now feel like sharing
First, I have to explain the aliens for context, be patient if you care(not a typo). Also I'd like to clarify that in this at least one species of megafauna is intelligent, like these aliens
these aliens live/lived on a planet with a lot of dangerous megafauna, so before they could develop guns and tanks and shit they were always alert, and being in a group wasn't helpful either cuz those guys were like fucking steel, there's no difference between throwing one spear at it and ten spears at it, so the only difference was that alone one person died when they encountered a megafauna, and as a group ten people died.
Because of this they developed a secret writing system that slowly but surely spread. This writing system looks like cracks so the intelligent megafauna don't recognize it. In order to make it more difficult to recognize it had like five different symbols that all just signified blank space and would use anywhere from 1 to 3 of them between each word, though now they have a new, simpler character and rarely use the originals.
The writing system isn't read left to right or right to left like most earth languages(to my knowledge at least), but instead read outward in layers(could be clockwise or counterclockwise, doesn't matter). The center isn't counted as a layer, since it doesn't have any information.
Each sentence in the language is a different "crack", and each "crack" has three sections, tone, order, and message. The tone section didn't exist at first, but was a later addition to the language as its use transitioned from simple messages like "GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE THIS IS MONSTER TERRITORY" to more casual and less urgent communication like "we've been trying to contact you about your space car's extended warranty." Now, the tone section only takes up the first layer, and takes the same place as punctuation in english.
The next section, the order section, indicates what order to read the message section in. It is just a series of numbers. This was originally used to prevent the intelligent megafauna from realizing that a bunch of cracks with common messages look the same, but now it's mostly just used for longer words in the beginning of the sentence, since earlier layers don't have room for them, or when a sentence starts with a number, since then it can be confusing to tell when the order section ends and the message section begins, but now it's usually just an indication of how long the message section is
the message section takes up most of the "crack" usually, and is where you write all of the words. Pretty simple.
The order and message sections both use the same writing system, but the order section only uses numbers. This has the most freedom, but when I thought of this I was thinking reading on each layer would go counterclockwise and it would start at the top, but either of those can change.
Of course there are some disadvantages to this, like the fact that when you're writing on paper it can require a lot of planning ahead, since you can't just continue a sentence to the next page, so you need to either write smaller or structure it differently. Another downside is that even if you plan ahead perfectly it's still pretty innefecient, since all the shorter combinations of characters were taken up by words like "danger" and "food", so as its use shifted they had to use longer character combinations for pronouns and shit.
Another thing that, depending who you ask, could be a downside(the government) or upside(people who hate the government) is just how it was designed, all the resources are there to easily hide them. It was specifically designed to look like cracks, so if you just use the older spaces and strange orders you can make hidden messages rather easily. Sure, you usually have to hide them as cracks, but depending what you have access to you could hide them as spiderwebs or homemade nets or even dents in metal(of course these are earth based examples, but I'm sure if you use this for some reason you could put some sci-fi versions of these on their home planet, or make up something new they could disguise it as. Hell, make something new and make it so that's what it was originally designed to look like instead of cracks)

THEY ARE SO..... I loved doodling them, I haven't been able to draw for a while because of my tablet but I've temporarily remedied the problem I need to draw more skits in general tbh
The Earth-9101 story is still in the works but 9101-Miles is the Steel Spider, I haven't thought out his design yet but it's gonna be siiick
Villains are also in the works

Wanna hear about the weekend I was stalked by spiders?
So last year my sister needed to go to San Jose to take a lab final for her otherwise online college course. I found out the Winchester mystery mansion was not far from her hotel and since we both are big fans of spooky and occult things and our mom didn’t want her to go alone, we decided I would tag along and we’d turn the trip into a tiny work vacation. This began the weekend of the spider.
Spider number 1:
My sister has a long standing annuel appointment to get her nails done monthly, and she needed to replace her long acrylics with shorter simple nails for the sake of her lab, this appointment fell on the day we were to leave. So pressed for time on the long drive we packed the car and planned to leave the second she got back from her appointment, leaving me and my mom to kill time. She had been working from home and I was between jobs at the time so we’d started listening to ‘the Magnus archives’ together and were still on season one. My mom suggested we listen to an episode before I left since she wouldn’t listen without me. The episode we got through before my and sis hit the road? ARACHNOPHOBIA.
Spider Number 2:
Sis gets home, we hop in the car, and off we go to San Jose. I settle into our room scrolling through TikTok while we wait for our tour time to start. While waiting my mom sends me a video with the caption ‘this just popped on my page, they’re listening!’ I don’t know what to make of it until I watch the video of a spider with a sparkly looking back that I soon realize is a mom carrying her babies. I freak out and nearly throw my phone across the room.
Spider Number 3:
We arrive at the winchester mansion (which was dope and I highly recommend it) where we learned many intricate facts about the mansions designs and the people who loved there. One think I found very fascinating and a bit unsettling was ms winchesters interest in custom stain glass windows with spiderweb designs. Beautiful but at that point I was beginning to notice the pattern.
Spider Number 4:
We and sister return to the room after a long day and are getting ready for bed. As I go to turn out the light I see something very big and black moving toward the bed. A spider the size of a ping pong ball is in our room and I almost scream. I’m yelling at my sister to kill it because I’m a superstitious bitch and at this point I’m afraid I’ll bring a curse on myself if I try to kill it. I toss my sister my tea and sage perfume and she sprays it till it crawls off to die behind the furniture. I slept on the other side of the bed.
You’d think that would be the end of it but no.
Spider Number 5:
A day and a quarter goes by alright. I’m still shaken but believe I’m overthinking things. We have to checkout of the hotel and head to my sisters lab with plans to head home right after. As she heads inside I find a bench to sit on and read while I wait for her. Overhead is a row of pine trees keeping the sun off me; and what else do I see in those pine needles above? A clump of white web twigs and needles. A nest the size of a football. I noped my way across the street and feared bees instead for a few hours.
Spider Number 6:
Finally, finally, we were home. I texted my best friend telling him where I’d been and we made plans to meet up for breakfast and chat about the trip. The next morning I meet up with him at a pancake house and we talked, I told him about the awesomeness of the winchester mansion, The stress of helping my sister study for her physical therapy exams, and of course about the curse of the spiders. I had just finished with the tale when our waitress approached with our bill, and as I took it I noticed something. Low and behold the weekend was not over, for upon my waitress arm was a large tattoo of a black widow spider.
At this point I through my hands to the universe and explained that I had got the point. Though the specific point still escapes me I think. I do know i Will forever tell people about the weekend I was stalked by spiders.

The Natural Way of Things
Based on this request: "I was wondering if you could do a hiccup x goddess reader who control nature and I was wondering if you could set in httyd 2 where the reader uses her titan to fight drago and the alpha but she sacrifice her life for berk as she freezes to death (like nari from trollshunters)"
i have not actually seen trollhunters so i hope i still managed to do this request justice <3 it was so good (and i would never pass up an opportunity to do angst!)
masterlist
Tumblr media
Hiccup is wasting his time. He’s avoiding his father’s call to come help with chieftain duties yet again, which means that Hiccup is searching for any and all excuses to stay hidden. Right now, he’s sifting through old chests buried deep in the recesses of his family’s house. Some of this stuff hasn’t been found in years, which is exactly the energy Hiccup is trying to channel at the moment.
Perusing the stacks of generations-old note keeping, he’s struck by one chest in the back. Judging by the style of inlaid designs, it’s among the oldest here. Spiderwebs practically tie the thing down, and there’s enough dust coating the top that it appears to have undergone a recent snowfall.
Curious, Hiccup reaches for the iron lock securing the lid in place. It has garnered enough rust over the past couple hundred years that it twists off in his hands, whoops. He carefully places it aside, promising himself that he’ll look into getting that fixed even though he knows full well that he won’t.
Hiccup lifts the top of the chest, leaning it back against the wall. There isn’t much inside, a few old spearheads and archaic treasures that every chieftain keeps around in the hopes of inspiring some kind of story. Hiccup’s about to declare the whole venture worthless when his eyes catch on a handmade leather satchel at the very back.
Great pains have been taken to keep the thing closed, with a significant number of cumbersome stitches lacing the opening shut. However, time and age have conspired to make the thread weaken, and the leather has gaped open just enough so that Hiccup can see a scrap of paper tucked away inside. He can make out some kind of writing scrawled onto the page, but in the mere half-light of the torch glowing in the brazier beside him, he can’t tell what it says.
Hiccup considers the fact that he probably shouldn’t be opening this, just going off of the efforts his ancestors have gone to in order to keep the thing shut, then decides to open it anyway. Ancient traditions are no match for teenage boredom.
The years have weakened the threads enough that Hiccup can open the leather pouch with ease, and seconds later he pulls out the paper and unfolds it in his hands. The words detailed on the page are in his language, but they seem antiquated, and describe some sort of process that has long gone out of fashion, if it was ever in fashion at all.
Hiccup stands up, walking closer to his torch so more light can fall on the aged paper. Brow furrowed, he starts to read aloud, although what he’s saying seems more like meaningless gibberish than anything else.
Towards the end of his unintelligible sermon, Hiccup realizes that he recognizes the syllables his mouth is shaping. A long time ago, he and a couple of friends had stumbled upon ancient texts in what served as the Berk record keeping area. His father had been furious when he discovered the kids paging through what Hiccup later found out were pagan spells, the stuff of nightmares.
This writing looks exactly like those spells, and as Hiccup keeps going, he feels something change in the air, as if the ground is no longer as solid beneath his feet. A sudden wind comes, despite the fact that he is indoors, and scatters the dust on the multitude of chests still littering the room. Hiccup blinks to ward off the sudden change in pressure, and when he opens his eyes again, he is no longer alone.
Hiccup stumbles back in surprise. There’s a young woman standing before him, and although she appears to be about his age, Hiccup has long since learned that you can never trust your eyes on matters like this.
He regards her cautiously, still unwilling to recover the distance he lost. “Who are you, and why are you here?”
The woman laughs, and the sound reminds Hiccup of wind moving through trees, the deep rustle of leaves against branches. “Why am I here? I assumed you would know, you’re the one who summoned me.”
“I summoned you?” Hiccup asks. He feels that he should be more aware of that. Shouldn’t someone know if they were summoning people?
The woman nods, like he’s an idiot. “Yeah, you read the summoning spell. What do you people need now? If you say a miracle, you’ll have to be more specific. I think I’m going to start performing random miracles if I get asked that one more time. Maybe I’ll grant your enemies unlimited harvests or something.”
Hiccup is feeling more confused by the second. “You can grant miracles?”
The woman spreads her hands. “Well, among other things, yeah.” She takes in the bewildered look on his face and sighs. “You don’t know who I am, do you?”
Hiccup winces. “Not at all, sorry. I just found that spell, but I don’t know what it does.”
The woman considers him a moment longer, then shrugs. “Cool. Less work for me, at any rate. I’m Y/N, by the way.”
Hiccup nearly chokes. “Like the nature goddess?”
She flashes him a grin, bright as the flame of a torch. “Exactly like the nature goddess. Your ancestors must have had a summoning spell and never talked about it. I can’t blame them, I’m contractually obligated to answer at least one request and I could do anything from promising you that you’ll never face a drought to smiting your foes.”
Y/N smiles, as if this casual smiting offer is nothing to worry about. Hiccup’s fairly sure that it is, though.
“Uh, I don’t need anything right now, I think. I’m sure some of the other people in the village might need you, though, maybe with their harvests or something.”
Y/N looks intrigued by this. “I think you’re the first person to think about someone else when offered a godly favor.”
Hiccup swallows hard. “What does that mean?”
She grins again. “It means I like you more than the rest, obviously. Now, I could technically go back to Asgard, but it has been a little boring of late, and I wouldn’t mind the distraction. Do you mind if I walk around your village for a while? I’d love to see what humanity is up to from your point of view.”
Hiccup nods a little too quickly. “Yeah, no problem.”
He’s now got a friendly goddess just casually strolling around beside him. No problem at all, right?
Wrong. He is so afraid of doing something to make her angry and risk the incurrent smiting of his village that Hiccup can barely think straight. Eventually, she takes pity on him, and tells him straight up to start stressing so much.
“I’m not going to kill you, or anybody you know. I swear it. Now, can you please stop panicking? Your pacing is freaking out the birds.”
Hiccup freezes mid-pace. “Uh, sorry. I just don’t know how to deal with this, I guess. I’ve never met a goddess before.”
Y/N leans against a nearby tree and considers this. “Most people don’t. The gods like to stay up in their respective domains or Odin’s palace. I suppose I’m the exception. I think you guys are fun.”
Hiccup lifts a brow. “Thanks, I think. If you had the chance, though, why would you choose to walk with mortals if you could go live with the gods forever? I figure we’d be way more of a mess.”
Y/N points a finger at him. “See, that’s exactly why I don’t want to be with the gods. So many of us get distracted with immortality that they’re a dreadful waste of company. Most of the time, we don’t die, but some of the gods spend so many years trying to avoid a potential fate that they don’t actually live. They’ll stay up there forever, not any different from when they were first born. Humans change so fast, but the gods linger on forever.”
Hiccup blows out a slow breath as he thinks about this. “Isn’t it terribly boring, then? To go so long and be the same person forever?”
Y/N nods. “Exactly. That’s why we do things like cause human wars or visit human villages. It never lasts long, but it does break the monotony.”
Hiccup taps a hand absentmindedly against his leg. “If you’re here to break the monotony, can I ask that you stick to the ‘visiting human villages’ part and not start wars? We’re not really in a position for that.”
This is quite true- thanks to all the dragons, Berk is in a bit of a precarious position, and not just because one poorly timed blast of fire could send the entire town plummeting into the sea. Hiccup really doesn’t think he could take a war right now, not since he’s trying to figure out how to be a chieftain due to the possibility that his dad is going to retire over the course of the next couple of years.
Y/N smirks. “I’ll do my best. Besides, I don’t really want to cause a war. I just want to go around, hearing what the earth has to say and maybe fixing a few things along the way. Some of your cliffs need maintenance, and having so many fire breathing dragons smoking up the place really isn’t great for your air quality.”
Hiccup shrugs. “Stay as long as you like. I wouldn’t mind the company.”
He probably shouldn’t be so forward with a goddess, but the words are already out there, so it’s not like he can really do anything about it. Besides, Y/N smiles at him so brightly the second he says it that Hiccup doesn’t mind his lack of a filter.
As it turns out, having Y/N stay in Berk is absolutely amazing. At first, Hiccup didn’t really know what to do, whether or not he’s supposed to treat her like the divinity that she is or just as he would another mortal. In the end, Hiccup decides to act as if she’s a friend, and soon enough, that is exactly what she becomes. Being near her lets him look at the world through the eyes of someone who’s been around for quite a long time, and Hiccup develops a better appreciation for all of the small quirks that make Berk what it is.
Even his father’s obvious hints that Hiccup will one day take up the mantle of village chieftain don’t seem so bad. It’s what would always happen, that much is clear, but talking to Y/N made him realize that he doesn’t have to fear the passage of time. The years will come, they always do, but the best way to live is to face everything head-on. That’s how you make the memories that matter most, after all.
Hiccup thought he could handle everything that would come his way. He was sure of it, in fact, after a couple months went by and he still doesn’t have to face a world without Y/N there beside him.
Yet why is it that he stands alone now, watching a funeral barge burst into flames? Hiccup believed that he was ready to face everything the world could throw at him, but it turns out that he was very, very wrong. There is one thing that he cannot bear, and that is the death of his father. His mother is now here, somewhere in the background behind him, but Hiccup can’t just switch out one parent for the next and pretend that everything is the same.
This hurt cuts like a blade, and there is no way to escape its dull agony. The loss pierces every aspect of Hiccup’s life, even in the ways he didn’t expect. Adjusting the sword at his belt, Hiccup remembers the first time his dad taught him how to handle a weapon. Staring out at the ocean, Hiccup pictures memories of himself when he was little, learning how to swim or sail a boat or anything that Stoick could teach him. All of that is gone now, except for the pictures in his head.
He will have his revenge, of that there is no question. Hiccup forms a band of soldiers willing to fight. Among them are his childhood friends, now grown into warriors of their own right, his newly rediscovered mother, and Y/N. Hiccup got the initial sense that she didn’t want to take part in the conflicts of mortals, but she refused to leave his side if it meant getting payback for the death of his father. Now, she’s dressed in a god’s battle armor, and he doesn’t think there has ever been a better sight.
Drago doesn’t know what’s coming for him, that much is certain. Hiccup’s party touches down on the battlefield, swords drawn and battle cries howling from throats. Hiccup feels a rush of adrenaline unlike anything he’s ever known before, and it is utterly fantastic. In the past, he’s worried about not becoming a great warrior like his father, but he changes that tide of history today. Right now, Hiccup is deadly, he is bloodthirsty, he is ready. He is his father’s son.
That isn’t to say that the fight isn’t difficult, though, far from it. Hiccup manages to break Toothless from Drago’s dragon’s hypnosis, but the larger dragon is still out and killing swathes of fighters at a time. Something has to be done about it, but Hiccup has no idea how to take on the dragon and its master while they’re still rampaging like the gods themselves.
Someone moves beside him, and Hiccup turns to see Y/N walking up, her eyes fixed on the scene ahead.
“We have to take out the dragon. After that, we can kill Drago, no problem.” She says, and Hiccup nods in agreement.
“The only problem is that I don’t know how. Toothless barely survived the hypnosis, I don’t know if he can take another strong fight.”
Y/N considers this, then turns to him. “I know how.”
Hiccup cocks his head to the side, trying to figure out why she looks so sad all of a sudden. “What do you mean?”
She smiles, and Hiccup doesn’t think he’s ever seen a happy expression look so utterly tragic. “You’ll see in a moment. It’s just- you’ve made this all worth it, you know? All of it. Thanks for giving me a chance to live.”
Y/N reaches out to squeeze his hand once, and then she turns and runs, sprinting down towards the battlefield until she can reach Drago and his dragon face to face. She spreads her arms, and the very earth itself shakes and cracks, rising suddenly until it seems taller than a mountain. It moves with her every command, stalking almost like an animal towards the enemy dragon.
The dragon snarls a blast of sheer ice towards Y/N’s earthen creation, which falters but continues on. The soil around her seems damaged, though, something Drago notices with a delighted cackle. Seconds later, the enemy dragon shoots ice again, this time not directed at Y/N’s natural challenger but at her. She stumbles, the entire ground shaking for miles around, and almost falls.
Hiccup thinks he screams, but he can’t tell. Someone’s holding him back, and no matter how hard he tries, he cannot run to her. The ice was too strong, while she was expending too much energy trying to maintain her creation. It’s killing her, he can tell that much, but even as the ice climbs slowly and resolutely towards her, she forces her creature forward. It slams into the dragon, shoving a spear of rock down its throat.
The dragon chokes on it, spitting out soil, but it’s too late, and it curls in on itself and moves no more. Y/N, though, is lost as well. The ice reaches her now, crawling up her vines and stones until it touches her hands. From there, it spreads in seconds, hardening the very heart that Hiccup has grown to admire. She has time to look back at him just the once, so Hiccup has the perfect view as the ice fully encases her. Seconds later, it shatters, and Hiccup is left with nothing to remember her by but his memories yet again.
From there, it is easy to kill Drago. Down his primary dragon, Drago is just a man, and Hiccup is filled with enough wrath to throttle a thousand warriors. Once it’s done, and once the dragons have been freed, it still isn’t enough. Hiccup is consumed by grief. Losing his father should have killed him, but losing Y/N? It wasn’t even a possibility that he could consider.
Hiccup doesn’t entirely remember how he got back to Berk. Maybe someone got him onto his dragon so Toothless could fly him home, but he has no recollection of the journey. Hiccup wakes up potentially days later, although he wishes he could go to sleep for another couple of years. Maybe when he finally forces himself out of unconsciousness in a decade or so, he’ll finally be ready to face the immense loss he feels right now.
Turning over onto his side in an attempt to block out the light peeking in through his windows, Hiccup’s gaze catches on something folded neatly on a table near his bed. Sitting up, he reaches for it, and realizes that it’s a letter. He opens it, and what is written inside makes the tears course even more readily than before.
Dear Hiccup,
If you’re reading this note, it means I wasn’t able to retrieve it, and I’m probably dead. I thought something like this would happen; I have never been one for combat, but I think you knew that. Gods cause wars, they don’t fight in them. I wasn’t ready for this, but if it meant protecting you and your village, I would die a hundred times over again. I have made my peace with this, and so must you.
I’m sorry to leave you after yet another loss, but it must happen. The earth will keep on surviving even if I’m gone, don’t worry about that, but it still needs people to look after it. Plant a tree or something for me, will you? Anything to make sure it stays around.
I have to go now, you’re calling for me and I want to be ready with my answer. Don’t let yourself be dragged down by this, Hiccup, I have always liked your smile too much for that.
I just realized that you first met me with a letter, and now I’m saying goodbye with one too. I suppose Fate has a sense of humor when it comes to its favorite characters. You were mine, if it means anything.
Y/N L/N
It takes Hiccup a long time to stop clutching the paper, even after his tears mar the paper and smudge her scrawled handwriting. He’s already broken her wish to keep his chin up, but he can hardly help that, can he?
At some point, he forces himself to put the letter down and step outside his cabin. He isn’t strong enough to see people yet, especially because he knows that they’ll try to talk to him about this, so he disappears into the woods instead. He moves blindly at first, not really caring about where he’s going or what he’s doing, but eventually he stops in a clearing, and looks around.
It’s beautiful here, he can admit that. The morning sun is shining through the trees, and birds call out greetings from their hidden vistas in branches and on top of cliffs. If he tries, he thinks he can sense her here, somewhere, in this place that was her home. The earth is hers, all of nature is hers, and now here he is, trying to find her again. Hiccup closes his eyes, and when a breeze ripples through the glen, he swears that he can almost feel a hand in his.
Perhaps he isn’t so alone after all.
requested by @chocotacobread, thank you for your patience in my getting this out!

Look At Yourself Boi - Phase 2
[We arrive at a tattooist studio]
“I think you knew what would be the next step in your transformation didn’t you boi?
[You nod eagerly]
“After your head was shaved I could have let you go off to start your life as a skinhead. But hair grows back, and in a few weeks you might have looked like you did day we first met. Well, I’ve grown attached to you - so I’m not letting you go. By the time we are finished, you’re going to look and behave like the proud, gay skinhead I know you are”.
[I see you looking around the room. You are staring at all many pictures of body art and amazing designs]
“There’s no going back. No return to your old life - not that I think your wife would welcome you back. Not that I think you want to return to the drudgery of that admin job”.
[You turn you head to me. You looked surprised that I would even remind you about the job you hated so much]
“This is the start of phase 2. You told me about the times you’d be surfing the web looking at skinheads. I remember you telling me how you were in awe of the amazing tattoos inked on different parts of the bodies. What did you particularly like? Let me think, oh yes. Swallows on the back of the hands, spiderweb on elbows, Celtic cross on the upper arm, the letters S-K-I-N H-E-A-D inked on the knuckles, Iron Cross on the upper back, a union flag and even boots in place of sideburns on the cheeks”.
[When I mention the word ‘boots’, I softly rub your cheek. I lean towards your mouth and you respond. Our tongues touch for just a few seconds and then our mouths separate]
“Now I’ve booked the tattooist for the rest of the day, so the complexity of the designs you decide on will impact on what gets completed today and what you will have to come back for in the coming days. By the time you’re finally finished there will be very little skin on your body that hasn’t been inked”.
[There’s a look of shock on your face]
“Yes this isn’t going to be a bit of ink here and there. Oh, no by the time the tattooist is finished with you you’re going to have as much of your body tattooed as is possible”.
[I lean in again to kiss you because this is what I want for you and I know this is what you want. Your look of shock fades. I hold a book in front of the boi]
“I’ve got this book of skinhead tattoos. I want you to come over here and choose the ones you want doing today. You will choose the designs. I get to decide which part of your body they are inked on.
[That worried look returns]
“Don’t worry boi. You’re not going to look a like freak show. I’m going to make sure these designs will enhance the look of a skinhead - the one you want to be”.
[Quickly, you turn your head down and start to flick through the pages. I note the ones you dwell on]
“I see you are taking your time, turning the pages forwards and backwards as you figure out which ones you are going to choose. Don’t take too long or I’ll choose the designs as well as where they are going. Right, that’s long enough. What is it to be boi”?
[One at a time you point to the designs you want etched permanently on your body]
“So let me confirm your choices are:
A spiderweb
A Celtic Cross
A pair of swallows
The word “Oi”
A Union Flag
The letters S-K-I-N H-E-A-D
Skinhead (in Gothic lettering)
...they are good choices boi. I don’t think I could have chosen better myself”.
[I shout through to the other room that the designs had all be chosen]
“Right, jump in the chair and you better take off your shirt because the first design will be going on your chest”.
[The tattooist enters to the room to find my boi topless, seated in the chair, and ready for his first ink. I show the tattooist the chosen designs. Quietly, I tell him where to put them on my boi’s body. I also ask him if there is a way to incorporate some of the designs into a half or full sleeve in the time I’ve paid for]
“The good news boi is that everything you’ve chosen can be done today. I’ve told the tattooist where each design needs to go. There’s also a bit of a surprise in store for you, which by the end of the session will have become obvious”.
“Now, there may be some discomfort, but remember at the end of this you will be that much closer to being the skinhead boi that you’ve yearned to be all your life”.
[I give the tattooist the nod, it’s time to begin the first design]
[Several hours later the first ink session is complete]
“Look in the mirror boi, tell me what you see”.

Highschool au where tony asked peter to prom through via card on the locker. People can't help but read their conversation
Peter's reaching the top of the stairs to the hall where his locker is when he first picks up on the commotion. There's a crowd clustered at the lockers, ogling at something Peter can't see yet. He has a baseline of curiosity about what's going on but high schoolers will make a big deal out of the smallest drama, so he doesn't expect much and isn't exactly dying to find out. What ever the group is clustering around must be right next to his locker, though, so he'll have to forge a path through the horde anyway.
When he finally breaks through the mass of students Peter rears back at what he finds. His locker, Peter's locker, the locker everyone is gathered around, is adorned with a note. Except 'note' doesn't seem to do it justice. A thick page of fancy cardstock is affixed at the exact center of his locker door by a small but powerful magnet embedded in the paper. The note bears a poem, printed in a calligraphic script with metallic gold ink and signed with simple initials by hand.
My armor is red
Arc reactors are blue
I think you've got mad skills
So can I go to prom with you?
TS
Peter gently pulls the note off his locker, his brow furrowed. Surely it was put on the wrong locker? It was clear who it was from, to him and everyone else. It didn't say it was addressed to him, though. Someone could've easily moved it from a different locker, and that kind of thing would be right up Flash's alley. Skeptical, Peter flipped the card over for any other information. And his eyes bugged out at the handwritten text there.
Peter.
Open when alone.
TS
Open? Peter turned the card to examine the edge. Sure enough there was another layer, with the magnet doubling as a clasp. He flipped the card to the back, reread his name. Flipped it to the front, reread the poem.
Tony Stark. Renowned heir to Stark Industries and famous teen superhero, Tony Stark, was really asking him to prom.
Peter held the note in one hand at his side, opening his locker with the other and organizing himself for his first set of classes. Once he had what he needed he headed back to the stairs, curious gazes and mutterings following him. He still had some time before class would start, and he was pretty eager to open the note and find out what else was in it.
When he reached the top landing he slipped behind the eternally propped open door that led into the hallway and grabbed the key that was propped on the hinge. With that he unlocked the rooftop access stairwell and climbed that too.
He dropped his backpack before sitting down beside it. Holding the note up, he watched the script glitter in the bright mid-morning sun. Then he gently pried the magnet clasp open.
It was blank... until a blue light shimmered over the surface. Peter quickly realized the light came from the magnet, a tiny slit in its edge projecting it. Words appeared, projected over the paper from the magnet:
Identity verified. Decrypting message.
Then a different, brighter light flashed up and down the surface before shutting off.
Peter gasped as a new design appeared. It was another poem, in fine silver lettering, backed by a glittering spiderweb pattern:
I'm caught in your web
So don't let me go
I promise not to tell anyone
About my favorite superhero
TS
Peter had a dopey smile on his face for the entirety of his first class that day.

[Best attempt at] A summary of The Magnus Archives. Contains major spoilers up through the most recent episode (168: Roots).
A kind soul wrote this out for me and put it in my submissions box to help me understand the Magnus Archives.  THANK YOU SO MUCH and SORRY it took me so long to publish this Dx
Major spoilers ahead for anyone else who wants to read!!  But this helped me a lot and I feel like I could keep listening now!  Thanks again!!!
Basic worldbuilding details: There are 14 extra-dimensional Entities that feed on fear (Eye, Web, Corruption, Stranger, Spiral, Hunt, Slaughter, End, Vast, Buried, Desolation, Lonely, Dark, Flesh). Various people serve them, and are trying to bring about apocalypses by bringing them into our dimension.
A Victorian guy named Jonah Magnus thought serving the Eye and bringing about its apocalypse would make him immortal. Through trial and error he learned that an Entity cannot be brought through alone, and he needs to bring through all 14 at once. To accomplish this, he needs to take someone (The Archivist) and have them experience EVERY entity - "experience" in this case means "be afraid it's about to kill them."
Until he manages that, he's been possessing various people over the years by means of sticking his own eyeballs in their heads. When the show starts he's possessing Elias Bouchard, Head of the Magnus Institute.
SEASON ONE: Jonathan Sims becomes the Head Archivist after Gertrude Robinson dies. He's set out to make audio copies of all the statements in the Archives, and he uses a tape recorder for the ones we hear because they won't record digitally. He has three assistants, Tim, Sasha, and Martin. He trusts Tim and Sasha but thinks Martin is incompetent.
Martin gets attacked by Jane Prentiss, who is infested by parasitic worms. Jon lets him live in the Archives because it's safer than going home. The worms start showing up around the Institute, but don't attack anyone (yet).
Sasha meets a man(?) named Michael and learns that the worms can be killed with CO2 gas. They start stocking up on fire extinguishers.
Two deliverymen named Breekon and Hope deliver a spooky table and a cigarette lighter with a spiderweb design on it to the Archives.
Jon smashes a hole in the wall of his office trying to kill a spider, and finds a network of tunnels under the Institute. The tunnels are filled with worms, which attack. Over the course of the attack, Jon and Martin bond a bit, Jon and Tim get partially eaten by worms (mark 1: Corruption), Martin finds Gertrude Robinson's corpse in the tunnels (she was murdered), Sasha gets killed and replaced by a monster that was bound to the spooky table (Not!Sasha), and Elias triggers the Institute's CO2 fire represent system, killing Prentiss. Jon swears to find out who murdered Gertrude if it kills him.
SEASON TWO: Paranoia time. The whole season is basically one long "who killed Gertrude" murder mystery, in which Jon suspects literally all of his coworkers. He works with Basira and Daisy, the two police officers assigned to solve the case, and starts to realize that Gertrude was deeply embedded in the supernatural world (and had access to explosives).
Major events include: Jon investigates the tunnels and doesn't find much. Martin frets a LOT, Jon thinks it's suspicious, but it's pretty clear that he just cares about Jon. It's also revealed that he lied on his CV, and isn't actually qualified for this job, hence his incompetence. Tim becomes very bitter about Jon suspecting him of murder and basically stalking him. Michael shows up again, traps a woman named Helen in a maze of unending corridors, and stabs Jon (mark 2: Spiral). Basira quits the police near the end of the season.
In the season finale, Jon realizes Sasha has been replaced and smashes the spooky table with an axe. This does not kill the monster, instead setting it free to try and kill HIM (mark 3: Stranger). Michael appears and offers him a door into his corridor maze to escape the Not!Sasha, and drops him in the tunnels to fend for himself. Martin and Tim try to find out what Jon's doing, and end up trapped in Michael's corridors themselves.
Jon is saved from the Not!Sasha by a man named Jurgen Leitner, who has a book that can move the walls of the tunnels around (he basically traps it in a wall Cask of Amontillado style). Leitner collected tons of these supernatural books, which are now called Leitners, and has been living in the tunnels for decades. Jon is convinced he's evil, but he reveals that he was working with Gertrude before she died and that Elias killed her. He begins to explain about the Entities, and the fact that Jon works for one (mark 4: Eye), but Jon leaves the room because he needs a cigarette. Elias appears and murders Leitner. Jon returns, finds the body, and flees.
Tim and Martin find their way out of the corridors, find the body, and call the police.
SEASON THREE: Jon is on the run from the police because they think he killed Leitner. He gives a statement about why he always hated Leitner. When he was a child, he found one of Leitner's books, which nearly got him eaten by a giant spider (mark 5: Web). His childhood bully got eaten in his place. Jon is living with his ex-girlfriend, Georgie, while he's in hiding.
Back at the Archives, Daisy (police detective) is convinced Jon is guilty of killing Leitner and Sasha. She's not looking for evidence, she just wants to catch him. Tim is also pretty sure he did it. Martin thinks he's innocent. Elias shows his first hint of supernatural powers by giving a statement about Daisy's first murder, which he just knows without her telling him.
Melanie takes a job at the Archives. She previously appeared to give a few statements. She's the former star of a ghost hunting YouTube show, and now has lost everything due to the circumstances of a few genuine encounters. She recently came back from a trip to India, where (as is revealed later) she was shot by a ghost soldier. She is friends with Georgie.
Basira visits the Archives to try to find Daisy, and runs off again looking for her when she realizes Daisy wants to kill Jon. Martin starts recording statements to "pick up the slack" while Jon's away.
Elias sends Jon statements while he's staying with Georgie, and in a bid to learn more about the supernatural he seeks out various servants of the Entities. Jude Perry nearly burns his hand off (mark 6: Desolation), Mike Crew nearly suffocates him by simulating the feeling of falling off a building (mark 7: Vast), and then Daisy catches him. Daisy kills Crew, and threatens to kill Jon (mark 8: Hunt), but Basira shows up and stops her. They drag Jon back to the Archives.
Everyone confronts Elias. We get confirmation that Jon can "compel" people (force them to answer his questions) but it doesn't work on Elias. Elias confesses to killing both Gertrude and Leitner. Everyone finds out Sasha was replaced during the Prentiss attack. Elias blackmails Basira into joining the Archives under threat of getting Daisy arrested; then turns around and blackmails Daisy into doing his dirty work in exchange for Basira's safety. He reveals that if he dies, or if the Archives are destroyed, anyone who works for the Institute dies too. Elias tells Jon he needs to stop the "Unknowing," which is a ritual the Stranger's servants are trying to complete to bring about the apocalypse.
Jon goes back to Georgie's; we find out she had an encounter with the supernatural when she was in university and now she literally cannot feel fear. Jon is confronted by Orsinov, a living mannequin that works for the Stranger. Orsinov tells him to find a taxidermied gorilla skin she needs for the Unknowing otherwise she'll kill him. He decides to go back to the Archives to get help, but on the way is kidnapped by Orsinov's goons. Orsinov says she's decided to use HIS skin in place of the gorilla one.
He's trapped for a month, and is eventually rescued by Michael, who reveals that he was one of Gertrudes's assistants before she sacrificed him to stop the Spiral's ritual. He wants to kill Jon, but as they are going into his corridors he is replaced by Helen (the woman he trapped in season two) who decides to drop Jon at the Archives instead.
Jon decides to follow in Gertrudes's footsteps to try and find the gorilla skin (to destroy it). He visits an Archive in China, and several locations in America. He is kidnapped by Julia and Trevor (Hunters) and gets on their good side. They let him talk to Gerry Keay (goth ghost that the fandom goes wild over). Gerry gives Jon the rundown on all of the fears, and explains a bit more about Gertrude. Jon agrees to release him from this world by burning a page of the book he's trapped in (this angers Julia and Trevor, which is important later). Jon goes back to England.
They find the gorilla skin in Gertrudes's old storage unit (and explosives), but it has been destroyed. Orsinov exhumes the bodies of Gertrude and Leitner to use their skin instead. There's a stretch of waiting where not much happens.
Jon, Tim, Basira, and Daisy go to a wax museum with Gertrudes's explosives to blow it up in the middle of the Unknowing. Martin and Melanie stay in the Archives to steal the tape with Elias's confession on it and get him arrested for murder.
At the Unknowing, Basira makes it out alive. Daisy kills Hope (one of the deliverymen from season one) but Breekon traps her in The Coffin (this has shown up in several statements before; it's an artifact of the Buried and traps people underground forever). Tim sets off the explosives and dies, while Jon ALMOST does in the same explosion. He ends up in a coma instead.
At the Institute, Martin distracts Elias while Melanie steals the tape. Elias taunts him about his feelings for Jon, then forces knowledge on him about how much his mother hates him (his mother's in a nursing home: caring for her is why he couldn't go to university and had to lie on his CV). Melanie succeeds in stealing the tapes and Martin barely restrains her from killing Elias.
Elias reveals that Jon is trapped in a nightmare realm where he constantly relives the statements of the people who have told them to him directly (not the ones that are written down). He is arrested, and Peter Lukas (servant of the Lonely) becomes the Interim Head of the Institute.
SEASON BREAK: Six months pass. Three major events occur: Martin's mother dies, Jared Hopworth (servant of the Flesh) attacks the Institute and is trapped in Helen's (Micheal's replacement) corridors, and Peter tells Martin that he'll protect the Institute from further threats if Martin works for him and isolates himself from everyone else. Martin, more than a little suicidal due to his mother's death and the man he loves being in a coma, agrees.
SEASON FOUR: Martin's plotline is revealed in drips and drabs throughout the season, and is easier to tell all at once. Basically, Peter convinces him that there's a 15th Entity, Extinction, that is about to emerge into the world and kill everything. This is based on research done by Adelard Dekker, one of Gertrudes's allies. Peter says that Martin is the only one who can stop it, because he has been marked by the Beholding and he is getting closer and closer to the Lonely as he isolates himself. This is enough of a threat that Martin sticks with his plan despite several opportunities to leave.
Jon's plot starts with Oliver Banks giving a statement in his hospital room and telling him he's too human to live, too much of a monster to die (mark 9: End). If Jon decides to stay human he will die; if he gives into the Beholding he will live. Oliver leaves; Jon wakes up. Georgie is disappointed that he gave into the Beholding, and walks away. Basira is cold and practical, following in Gertrudes's 'ends justify the means' logic. She is watching Jon closely, and prepared to kill him if he becomes dangerous. Melanie is boiling with anger and tries to attack Jon whenever they're in a room together.
Jon reads a Slaughter statement and knows (by supernatural means) that Melanie is becoming a servant of the Slaughter because the bullet that the ghost shot her with is still in her leg. He and Basira perform amateur surgery to get it out. Melanie stabs him in the shoulder (mark 10: Slaughter). She is, understandably, furious, but she becomes calmer as she heals and she starts going to therapy.
Breekon (the surviving deliveryman) drops off the coffin. Jon displays a new power by extracting a statement from him. He learns that Daisy is still alive, but trapped in the coffin. Basira leaves the Archives based on information from a "source" (Elias, though Jon does not know this yet). Jon learns that he can go into the coffin and get out again if he has an anchor to the real world. He tries to cut off his own finger, fails, and under Melanie's advisement finds Jared Hopworth (Flesh servant who attacked when he was in a coma) in Helen's corridors. Jared removes two of Jon's ribs (one to keep and one for Jon) and gives a statement (mark 11: Flesh).
Jon goes into the coffin (mark 12: Buried) and finds Daisy. She is much more clear-headed than before, because she has been separated from the Hunt for so long. Jon cannot feel his anchor (rib) at first, but the signal is amplified when Martin places a bunch of tape recorders on top of the coffin. Jon leads Daisy out, and both are extremely confused by all the tape recorders.
Jon and Basira find out that the servants of the Dark might be trying a ritual in Norway, and head off to stop them. On the way, Jon forces a sailor on the boat they're on to give a statement. Basira is disturbed, but doesn't try to stop him. (Back in the Archives, Martin hears from another person who Jon took a statement from, and is rightfully horrified.) In Norway, Jon and Basira learn that the Dark's ritual failed the same week Gertrude died, though there's still an artifact - the Dark Star - left from it. Jon destroys the Dark Star by literally just looking at it, though it nearly kills him (mark 13: Dark). Helen gives them a shortcut home through her corridors.
Martin leaves a tape of his conversation with the person Jon took a statement from on Basira's desk. Jon confesses that he's done this to five people. He promises not to do it again (from this point on, both he and Daisy grow weaker as they try to resist the Beholding and Hunt, respectively).
Jon, Basira, Daisy, and Melanie visit Hill Top Road (I cannot even begin to explain Hill Top Road, there's so much going on and there's no answers yet. Best I can say is it's been strongly affected by both the Web and the Desolation, and there seems to be some warping of reality in the basement.) They find a statement from Annabelle Cain (main servant of the Web) that's basically one long taunt to Jon about how the Web may or may not be orchestrating everything. Main takeaway from this is that once he starts reading a statement, he cannot stop.
Jon finds out how to quit the Institute, via an old tape from Gertrude. Her assistant, Eric Delano (Gerry Keay's father) escaped the Institute by gouging out his own eyes. Jon runs to Martin with this information and begs him to run away together, but Martin refuses. Jon tells Melanie, Daisy, and Basira. Melanie decides to act on this information, and puts her eyes out with an awl. She goes to live with Georgie, who she is dating by this point. Daisy and Basira stay in the Archives.
Season finale, Peter launches his plan. He and Martin head into the tunnels under the Institute. While down there, Peter frees the Not!Sasha and sends it to attack the Institute. He brings Martin to the Panopticon of Milbank Prison, and explains that Jonah Magnus's original body is still in the center of the Panopticon watching EVERYTHING. Elias shows up (he escaped from jail) and reveals that he IS Jonah Magnus. Peter says that Martin needs to kill Jonah's original body and take his place. From the Panopticon, he will be able to learn how to stop the Extinction (it will also trap him there forever). Martin realizes he's been manipulated and refuses, because even though the Extinction is a threat he doesn't want to sacrifice himself just so Peter can win against Elias. It is revealed that Peter and Elias formed a bet: if Peter could get one of the Institute staff to willingly join the Lonely, he would be allowed to kill Elias and take over the Institute forever. Since he failed (Martin is close to the Lonely but doesn't entirely serve it) he instead traps Martin in the Lonely, and then goes in himself.
Meanwhile, Jon finds out that the Extinction isn't as immediate a threat as he thought, and that Martin has gone with Peter to complete his plan. Jon tries to get help from Georgie, Melanie, and Helen, but all refuse. Basira and Daisy inform him that Elias escaped from prison, and they find a tape revealing that he is Jonah Magnus. All hell breaks loose at this point. Julia and Trevor (the Hunters from season three who he stole Gerry's page from) show up to try to kill Jon, and they run into Not!Sasha, which has escaped from the tunnels. Basira and Daisy tell Jon to run and help Martin. He does. Daisy makes the decision to lean into the Hunt again, and makes Basira promise to find her and kill her once it's all over. Basira agrees (unwillingly) and runs. Daisy attacks the Hunters and Not!Sasha.
Jon finds Elias at the Panopticon. Elias explains where Martin has gone, and Jon dives into the Lonely after him (mark 14: Lonely). Jon meets Peter in the Lonely, takes his statement, and kills him. He finds Martin and manages to save him.
Jon and Martin flee to one of Daisy's old safehouses in Scotland. Twenty-two days after they arrive, they receive a package that they think is from Basira containing a bunch of statements and tapes for Jon. Martin leaves to take a walk, and Jon reads a statement. It turns out to be from Elias (Jonah) explaining his whole plan with marking Jon with the Entities and various ways he manipulated events so that that would happen. Jon is unable to stop reading, and at the end of the statement is an invocation that brings all fourteen Entities through into the world. Martin makes it back to the safehouse, and they watch the world end together.
SEASON FIVE: Jon and Martin are still in the safehouse. Martin wants to leave and kill Elias, Jon wants to stay at least a bit longer to grieve the world. They could stay forever: they no longer need food, water, or sleep to survive. Jon's been constantly relistening to the tapes from the package that was delivered, and there's some backstory revealed in them: Gertrude had planned on Sasha being her replacement once she died, and had made a tape with all the information she would have needed to stay alive. She suspected that if the Entities came through into the world, they would be here to stay, and that things like space, time, and the laws of physics would stop working. There's also some nostalgic stuff with Tim and Sasha.
Jon gets hit with the knowledge that the safehouse is not actually safe, and is feeding on Jon and Martin's fear of losing each other. He and Martin agree to leave, setting out on a quest to kill Elias and try to save the world.
The structure of this new world is revealed: each fear has taken up a domain in which it is the primary source of fear for the people trapped in it, and Jon and Martin need to pass through all of them before they can get to the Panopticon and Elias. So far they've been through the Slaughter, the Corruption, the Stranger, the Buried, and the End. People are only dying in the End; in the others, there is no escape from the horror. Any time Jon gets too close to one of these domains he is overwhelmed by the fear and needs to give a statement about it. The first time, Martin just stuck his fingers in his ears, but since then he's been going on walks so he doesn't have to hear.
Annabelle Cain (Web) tries to call Martin via a payphone; he doesn't pick up.
Jon realizes he can know basically anything he wants to, and Martin asks him a series of questions, learning that: Daisy is Hunting between the domains; Basira is chasing her, planning to kill her but starting to doubt that; Melanie and Georgie are in London but he can't see them clearly; Elias is in the Panopticon; Jon and Martin are safe, traveling like they are; Jon can't see Annabelle AT ALL; and the world can be turned back if the fears are removed, but the fears can't be destroyed as long as there are people left to fear them.
Helen shows up to "check up on the happy couple" and try to make friends. Martin asks if her corridors can give them a shortcut to London, but Jon's powerful enough that he would hurt her if he tried to do that. She leaves.
They run into the Not!Sasha in the Stranger's domain. It threatens them, but cannot actually hurt them. It taunts them about Sasha, and Jon kills it. Martin is very impressed.
Helen shows up again, and explains that there are two roles people can take in this new world: afraid or feared. Jon has the ability to make something that is feared afraid, and doing so destroys the feared things utterly (this is how he killed Not!Sasha). Martin wants to go on a murder spree killing any monsters they come across; Jon does not. Helen leaves again.
While Jon is giving a statement Annabelle calls Martin on a cellphone. He answers, and she offers him help. He refuses and hangs up.
Jon reads Martin's mind and learns about the conversation with Annabelle. Martin is annoyed, and Jon promises not to do it again. They stop for a rest. Martin starts wondering about Gertrudes's past, and Jon launches into a statement about it: one of her assistants fell to the Web and killed a bunch of her other assistants, and Gertrude never trusted anyone after that. It is also revealed that if an Archivist dies, their assistants are free to leave the Institute without gouging out their eyes.
Jon and Martin are both disturbed by the statement and by the fact that neither of them could stop it. Jon explains that Gertrude would have lost purpose in the apocalypse without anyone to trust, and that Martin is giving HIM purpose. He also explains that all servants of the Entities have a domain in this new world. His is the Panopticon, and Martin DOES NOT want to know what his own is.
The most recent episode was the End's domain, run by Oliver Banks (the guy who woke Jon from his coma). This statement explained that the End is still killing people permanently, and there is no new life coming into this world; therefore, the End will eventually start stealing victims from other fears. This will ultimately deplete all human and animal life which will kill the Entities themselves and leave an empty universe.
UNADDRESSED TOPICS:
What do the Spiders want? It's surprisingly easy to leave out any traces of the Web's influence from this summary, but Jon is still carrying the cigarette lighter with the web design from season one and he doesn't seem to notice it, several important tapes he's found have been covered in cobwebs, and Annabelle is clearly targeting Martin.
Random plots that have less impact on the main story! This completely skips over characters like Mikale Salesa and Maxwell Rayner, and other oft-appearing but easily missed background people. If there are any in particular you're curious about let me know, but I don't THINK any of them are going to show up again.
Random plots that I don't know if they're going to have an impact on the main story! Agnes Montague, Gertrudes's assistants, everything with Hill Top Road - I have no idea what about their stories is going to be important from this point forward. Maybe everything, maybe nothing.
My askbox is always open if you've got any questions (@cirrus-grey). This is a broad summary that misses out a LOT of details!
