gamers, i’m only on episode three of season two but i feel like cait’s “i keep telling myself you’re different. but you’re not” is very snowbaird in the sense that cait doesn’t see people from the undercity as people (obviously)
cait’s convinced herself that vi has become more piltover than undercity, and perhaps that was reaffirmed by vi surrendering to the idea that powder died years ago; because if vi can be convinced that even her little sister is nothing more than “the enemy” then surely vi can plaster that label onto any and every OTHER undercity citizen out there
i guess the comparison comes from the fact that cait and coryo (and jayce) are all so comfortable with ignoring their partners’ culture / how that culture affects their individual perspectives / etc. because they’re not LIKE them; which also leads to so much objectification because i believe (almost, because of jayce) all of them use their partners as tools to benefit themselves / their ego

hate how people treat the USA and Europe as the Only Places Ever. like you'll say "stop centering the USA on everything" and others will be like yes! there is also the UK,

i...love subversion. and in stars and time does it so well...
"the chosen one" wasn't actually chosen by fate, but by circumstance, and is terrified that shes a fraud
big strong dumb guy isnt actually stupid, and kind of hates that people think he is
callous older character is actually incredibly caring in her own, slightly abrasive way, and proves she keeps an eye out for everyone
edgy loner rogue is actually very tired of being alone and craves connection to a dangerous degree
the naive young child isnt actually naive at all, they understand the danger they are in, and they understand the danger the others are in because of them
the guide themselves is lost and just as scared and the protagonist.

Riz Gukgak and his bloody hands
SUCH a metal visual and motif. Kalina, Baron, they tease him for it, they twist it into one of his worst qualities, just as they belittle that he his heart, leverage his fear that he cannot love anyone enough.
Riz Gukgak loves. He will claw himself to shreds on love. He will dig through reality, lacerating himself on crystal, just to help his childhood friend. He will hiss at the devil, he will bite out eyes, he will do anything to help his friends feel safe. He will attempt to eat an entire dragon. Out of love for a father he barely knew.
"That’s you saying “I love you” to the people who matter to you the most."

"Love" and "proud" and "family" come up so frequently in bat comics now. Bleh. Bring back something I can relate to like emotional constipation and repression.

Get a little dizzy sometimes when i think about how there might be someone out there waiting to love me that they might be there wondering about who they might end up with in the future and that could be ME that they’re out there waiting for me to love them too like ohhh we’re so far apart but we’re both real and waiting and persevering just for the chance to meet each other some day like i feel winded

i wanted to explain myself to myself in an understandable way. i gave shape to my fears and made excuses. i varied my velocities, watched myselves sleep. something's not right about what i'm doing but i'm still doing it — living in the worst parts, ruining myself.

the ending montage of barbie genuinely shook me to my core because it says "womanhood is not all pain and suffering. it can be joyous and loving and fun and carefree and a godlike experience to live through. and even if we exist in a world that says that we are not worth more than our body parts, we are not defined by our suffering. living life as a woman or even just identifying with certain parts of it continues to be an amazing and beautiful way to live this wonderful life" and hey maybe i needed that a bit

Another thing that I love about YOI is that Victor and Yuuri's love goes beyond your average idol/fan relationship
Because typically, a plot line like Yuri on Ice's is almost always a recipe for disaster. They had every opportunity to make Victor this huge egotistical asshole who cares for nobody but himself, therefore turning his relationship with Yuuri into something toxic and unhealthy.
But they didn't.
Instead, they decided to make Victor one of the silliest, lighthearted characters on the show. He's a supportive, energetic, loving character who spends the entire series being over the moon about helping his lover reach his full potential.
Victor isn't perfect. He has many flaws. His emotional intelligence lacks in many areas, and he isn't great at comforting people. His pep talks can be tone deaf and he tends to like the attention he gets a little too much at times. and yes, he may be a bit overconfident at times (even if that confidence is earned).
But never once has his 'living legend' status ever affected his love and desire for Yuuri.
He truly sees Yuuri as his equal, and he loves him like breathing.
This much is obvious throughout most of the show, just based on Victor's actions, words, and open affections for Yuuri (more of this is talked about in my previous post). But it becomes even clearer in episode 10, when we get insight on the real reason why Victor showed up to Hasetsu to coach Yuuri.
All it took for this man to fall head over heels for Yuuri was a drunken dance (and maybe some dry humping...)
Their relationship is so perfectly set up. All of Victor's flirting, instead of being something creepy and predatory in nature, was just him being oblivious to the fact that Yuuri had no recollection of the banquet. He'd been trying so hard to get Yuuri to acknowledge what had happened that night by teasing him and making moves on him, and Yuuri was clueless the entire time.
It's such a silly concept, but it really does change everything.
I'm so glad that Victor and Yuuri's relationship didn't turn out to be something toxic and uncomfortable, and I'm glad Victor doesn't follow the stereotypical idol/celebrity character norms. They made his character extremely likable and easy to love, and made Victor and Yuuri's relationship into something so incredibly beautiful. The entire show was so well done, and the amount of thought that was put into each and every detail is evident.
There is so much to love about Yuri on ice, and this is just one small example of that.

The way I see it the vast majority of time lords don’t really do romantic relationships and would be considered aromantic by human standards, they do however have the same thing going on as bonded cats that need to be adopted together

vax, his hair & his armor in black like a raven. ludinus, his hair & skin as white as the snow of eiselcross. vax, guardian of fate, ludinus, destroyer of it. vax the grim reaper. ludinus the white horse, the horseman. vax, gone too soon. ludinus, alive too long. vax & ludinus, eternally in the purgatory of immortality and undeath. vax & ludinus, both invisible to the matron. vax & ludinus, death & winter. death, winter, and the matron of ravens connecting them.
heretical as it feels to say, they are in some way brothers. kin.
ethedok & vordo in some ways meet again. certainly made in their image.
even as one sheds the others divine blood to end divinity, not knowing he'd choose mortal family over divinity like the other would, too.

I actually really like Andy’s mentality with playing Shepherd, with the whole “bravery isn’t the absence of fear, moreso what you do with it” thing, as well as Shepherd being very out of his element here.
Like Andy asking if he could roll with disadvantage in Death House (I don’t remember what for), even tho he didn’t need to, as well as having Shepherd not take a long rest with everyone after saving the kids, therefore taking a point of exhaustion (as well as Andy roleplaying how exhausted Shepherd clearly is, but is insisting “nah, I’m fine, don’t worry about me”). As well as Shepherd’s lack of self preservation in combat (or other general life or death situations) if he knows that others are also in danger (regardless if he’s in more danger than them)
I just. I really like his character. I like all of Andy’s characters for reasons like this. It’s very easy to boil a character down to one or two character traits, and I won’t lie and say that the other members of the cast haven’t done that (regardless of how much I enjoy their characters), or that Andy hasn’t done that with Torbek to some extent (at least in the beginning, before he truly joined the Krew). But I like that all of his characters are multifaceted, and makes you really think about who they are and why they’re doing this. It’s just. Wonderful character design, and not an easy thing to do.
