So as we all know the 911 insta posted a certain video today. And he who shall not be named was in it.

And what should happen tonight but Oliver reshares it…. but cuts the video after Bryan, and right before *he*shows up 😂

We also see from his story (side note the fact that we live in a world where the op was able to actually get that screen shot of Ryan like that on Oliver’s insta story and it not be photoshopped is 🤯. Like truly how far we’ve come lol)

ANYWAY 😂 as we see from it, it would appear that they told the cast what bee related pick up lines to say. So the fact that we had

JLH - are you a bee? Because you’ve been buzzing around my mind all day

Ryan-Do you take care of bees? Because you look like a keeper to me

Bryan- if you were a bee, id be pollen for you

Aisha- are you a bee? Because you are the buzzzzz around town.

Oliver- changed his to sound like a bee was talking with his buzz buzz buzz buzz buzz buzzzz.

And then you know who with- do you believe in love at first flight? Because my heart takes off when I see you.

Clearly one is not like the others. Now the two possibilities are A) they didn’t bother giving him a bee related pun. Or B) it was supposed to be do you bee-lieve in love at first flight and he just…somehow failed to act it out correctly and they just didn’t care enough to fix it. Either option is..telling lol.

Our other Oliver related incident tonight

He shared and liked/commented in fan arts from (at the time of me writing this 3 artists)

I will preface this now that this is in no shape way or form a knock at the work itself, or the artist and their talent, nor should anyone else take it as such because the art work itself is good.

But he liked art from 1 BT shipper. And 2 buddie shippers. Which honestly 👏 to them all because their works are good and I’m excited for all 3 of them that they got noticed by Oliver. M

But the point of interest for the BT one is. We know Oliver will scroll through fan accounts looking at the arts. So it’s not just a case of oh he just got tagged.

So They have a handful of BT art. They have one from yesterday in fact of their moment behind the couch in 8.1.

But the one he liked and shared was Buck and Gerrard. He had plenty of artwork that showed off Buck and Tommy to pick from and he went and picked the 1 single art they have of Buck with someone other than Tommy.

I know people got worried because of that old bts video dropping but like you and Ali have said multiple times now. Take the cues from the people who matter. Tim. Ryan. Oliver. And for Oliver his message is clear. He’s engaged with fans. He’s sharing promo and cutting it before he’s there. He’s liking actual buddie fan art but not engaging with specific ones of *that* ship.

I don't want to be that person, but Instagram cuts off the video by itself. If you want to see the full reel you have to click it. So Oliver had nothing to do with that cut. But he did obviously post it just to talk about his own 'pick up' line that he obviously didn't like, so he changed it to some weird buzzing. 🤣🤣🤣 He is so weird and I love him for that!

Those bee pick up lines were kinda fun. They were just some random lines, so I don't think a lot of thought went into who would say what. They just gave everyone their lines and they said them. Well, except for Oliver who decided to be 'creative'. 😂

And yes... I'm stil stuck on Ryan on that bed, staring into my soul, using that bee pick up line on me. It felt very personal. 😋😋😋

Finally, all of those artworks were stunning. I don't care who made them and what they ship. They were beautiful. I fully agree with you on that one Nonny!

But it is kinda funny that he posted the Gerrard one, I agree. There were plenty of other really gorgeous options there. I mean, I may not ship BT, but they do have plenty of creative talent in their fandom.

For me this was just another sign of Oliver -once again- refusing to post anything BT related, because he doesn't want to lead the fans on. 🤷‍♀️

Happy Little Accidents

The last thing Eddie Diaz expects to come out of his trip to Buckley’s Plant Nursery & Landscaping with his son, is to develop an honest to god schoolgirl crush on the guy who owns the place (and not notice that that is what’s happening for an embarrassingly long time).  

The plan is simple. Get in, have Christopher pick out a couple of succulents or whatever he needs for his school project, and get out without infesting any of the gorgeous plants in the shop with his bad plant karma. 

But then, the first thing he’s greeted with is a hunk of a man, carrying two heavy packs of soil on his broad shoulders. Eddie swears he can see a drop of sweat running down the man’s face in slow motion. His t-shirt looks like it’s one strategic muscle flex away from bursting at the seams and Eddie—Eddie feels nervous all of the sudden. And he’s gaping like a fish. 

“Hey,” Hunk-man says as he hoists the soil on the counter next to him with a grunt, “What can I help you with?”

At least Eddie has enough self-awareness to close his mouth.

Or: the one where Buck owns a plant nursery and Eddie stumbles through his crush (and has no game during all of it)—oh and also, there are a lot of Bob Ross references.

I was tagged by @mysteriouslyyounggalaxy to do a Seven Sentence Sunday. This was back in April, today’s not Sunday, and I do not have seven sentences, but I finally have something that I feel I can share. Sounds like the DnD movie did something right by including a platonic love like that! I was very excited to watch the movie but knowing this definitely gives me a boost to watch it sooner. We are in need of more media to show that loving your bestie deeply without feeling an ounce of sexual attraction for them is possible :'). Especially when both parties have a sexuality that would make it possible for them to develop romantic/sexual feelings, but they simply never do because, oh wonder, friendships like this do actually exist. Insert a scandalized gasp here. That I have to argue for my right to have deep connections and physical closeness with my platonic friends as a bisexual is already sad enough, I do not need people on the internet to use those same typically biphobic arguments to argue about ships. I really love canon Buddie as it is, too. I do not need any sort of development to be happy with their story "someday" because what they got in the past 5 seasons has already makes me very happy. Look at them, they are adorable, I want to pinch their cheeks. Enjoying canon Buddie, no matter which season we are talking, is like enjoying a nice long walk through a park on a sunny, warm day to me. Will I perhaps see an ice cream truck on the way and end my walk by buying myself an ice cream cone (get canon romantic Buddie)? Who knows! If I see one, hell yeah, I will enjoy some ice cream! But I did not go outside just to get ice cream, so the walk will be fabulous and worth my time either way.

YEAH that's where I'm at tbh. I'm kinda taking a mini break from thinking about/analyzing 911 and buddie at least for a while during the hiatus because it's exhausting me too much but yea !!! I think they're neat and I'm happy with what we have

Will never not baffle me how they don't understand this yet?

Q. I guess I just don't understand how publicly intentional it is that Oliver has a camera on him everyday and is constantly snapping pictures when he's not filming and yet not a single glimpse of Lou has been found in anything. He's posted pictures of Brad and Brian so it's not a main vs guest thing. It's a clear and obvious choice to deliberately exclude him. There's no other explanation. And it's just so unprofessional and seems so unlike everything we have heard about Oliver.

A. It's not unprofessional. Let's establish that right away. He's not obligated to take pictures of anyone or anything. He does it because he loves it. Therefore he can take the kinds of pictures he desires. It's that simple. He doesn't do it out of obligation. He does it because he genuinely loves to do it. He doesn't owe anyone any kind of picture at all. And I'm sorry, anon, but the fact that he has chosen to include Brad and Brian, and not the other says way more about the other than it does about Oliver. No one ever has anything bad to say about their experience working with this cast. If they are 'excluding' him from things then there's probably a reason. We know that Kenny included him in some stuff last year. We know that Jennifer followed him on Instagram last year. We also know that neither of those things are true this year. That's not because Oliver forbade them from having anything to do with him. That's not because they're scared of evil Buddie fans and the power you all say they have one day, but don't have the next day. None of us knows the actual reasons for the clear distance the cast keeps from him when not filming. But we can make educated guesses. His behavior during the off season was entirely unprofessional. The cameo videos were a gross miscalculation on his part. He also said some troubling things. Chances are none of the cast appreciated or approved of that behavior. Especially considering the way his choices were then used by you all as a weapon against Oliver and Ryan, in particular. Again, we don't know that for sure, but those are probably pretty safe bets.

And this is entirely like Oliver. He has never, outside of an official interview, spoken about or promoted any canon relationship Buck has been involved in. He made is feelings regarding the BuckTaylor relationship very clear without ever saying an actual disparaging word about it. He did it entirely through Instagram and the way he answered certain interview questions. The exact pattern he is following now with his current canon relationship. He is a Buddie shipper. He doesn't hide it. He doesn't fake it. He doesn't apologize for it. And he's not obligated to pretend otherwise. He's not unprofessional. He loves Buck, and he has every right to believe certain things are better for Buck than other things. There's absolutely nothing wrong with his behavior. He doesn't owe you or Lou or any of us, for that matter, any explanation. He takes beautiful pictures. He's insanely talented. I'm just glad he allows us to see them. We have no right to dictate what or who his subject matters should be. And he absolutely doesn't care that you all notice who's not there.

When you start treating the 911 fandom's hiatus shenanigans as the entertainment they truly are, life becomes an absolute blast. We've had meta about episode titles, deep dives into color theory, and conspiracy theories about the strategic placement of tape on the floor or how a couch has a higher purpose.  

Now we’ve got ship wars escalating to naval battles, and a whole new level of chaos. Obsessing over BTS content – or the lack thereof, especially when it involves certain actors? Check. Debates about bees and the existential significance of a moustache? Oh, absolutely.

Meanwhile, lil ol' me is just sitting back with my popcorn, enjoying this wild ride.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Maybe controversial but I’m not a huge fan of eddie using Spanish terms of endearment in fics. If he ever does it in show I’ll feel better about it, but it doesn’t actually feel very him, apart from that I don’t mind

Hi Lori, This is a not an ask but rather a thank you for sharing your fics, your knowledge (National Parks, Zoology, all things science, photography, anything, everything), and various fandomy things and thoughts, basically for being awesome. I ran across your tumblr years ago, I don't even remember how, but it was at a time that I didn't have a tumblr myself and I just lurked and looked at stuff. It was through you that I learned about Check! Please, so thank you for that rec, too. :) I continued to check on your tumblr over the years because we read/watched similar things and I enjoyed your insights and what you had to share, fandomwise or not.

Now, I find myself in the middle of the 911 fandom, too (tl;dr I watched sporadic episodes over the years, had no fandomy thoughts whatsoever, and then *that* kiss happened, which I thought never would, and I've since watched all 100+ episodes) and it's been... something. I read fic and stay mostly away from everything else except your tumblr. So thank you for being so positive, calling out the shenanigans, and for sharing your thoughts and stories again. <3

This was not eloquent whatsoever, but also as an "older fan" (fandom enjoyment doesn't have an age limit, as we know), I wanted to say thank you for being you and all that you do. p.s. Performance in a Leading Role, Unveiled, and the How, Patrick series are my favorite fics (so far!) of yours. :)

A bit ahead of schedule.

Title: From Scorched Earth, a Phoenix Rises, Chapter 8

Fandom: 911, Hawaii 5-0

Pairing: Buddie, McDanno, BuckTommy (breakup), minor Deacon/Hondo (SWAT, platonic) and Reyes Vidal/Scott Ryder (Mass Effect Andromeda)

Tags/warnings: (eventual) explicit sex, canon divergence from end of season 7, character bashing (Tommy Kinard, Helena Diaz), child abuse, canon typical violence, sentinel/guide AU, spirit animals, anchors, BuckTommy breakup (this fic is very not friendly to Tommy Kinard), first time, Bad Diaz Parents

Summary: An anchor, however fragile, can keep even an offline sentinel from manifesting as long as it is maintained. When his anchor is removed, Eddie Diaz enters a deep zone.  Can Buck, a long unattached guide, save his best friend from slipping away?

They land in LA just as the sun sets and are met on the tarmac by their ride—an old military buddy of Steve’s named Hondo. Hondo was a marine that somehow, in some country they’re not supposed to talk about, worked with Steve and maybe, from the familiarity with which Buck’s name rolls off Hondo’s tongue, with Buck too. 

Danny is going to shake his sentinel later to get the details. There were sentinel shenanigans involved, and Steve needs to be discouraged from repeating them. 

Hondo is shadowed by his SWAT second in command, Deacon Kay, whose guide presence is smooth as butter the way it creeps up on you, but his shielding is rock solid when Danny encounters them. He’s more than mildly impressed with Deacon, who simply nods, acknowledging that Danny is the more powerful guide, and metaphorically bares his throat, beta to alpha, in submission.

Danny thinks if it came down to it, he could take down Deacon’s shields, but he’d be exhausted from doing it. Man has humility, which is appreciated, and doesn’t make it a pissing match. Danny also clocks that Hondo isn’t online, but his vaguely sentinel-flavored aura matches Deacon’s, which is interesting but not the point of their trip. 

“There was a major empathic event in LA this morning,” Hondo informs them. “Seems like Kid and his work partner Diaz were the cause. They’re at UCLA, and the Center has been busy putting out fires ever since.”

Buck teases Tommy with various terms of endearment until Tommy catches him by surprise. In the end, they both render each other speechless. For day 2 of bucktommy positivity week: nicknames and terms of endearment.

Build Me Up

“If I’m your honey does that make you my Pooh Bear?”

Evan asks around a mouthful of waffle, whipped cream, and strawberries, trying to pull of innocence but failing in the way his eyes light up in clear amusement and the corners of his mouth keep twitching upwards around his food. It also doesn’t help his case that he has whipped cream and strawberry sauce all over his chin. He’s adorable like this, and he damn well knows it; Tommy doesn’t miss the roll of his shoulders as he preens. He’s an absolute menace.

Truthfully, Tommy’s relieved to see Evan having fun like this, after he came over to Tommy’s place yesterday after his shift looking like he’d tried to wrangle a tornadeo. (They watched the new Twisters movie last week and Tommy finds himself unironically saying ‘tornadeo’ as often as, if not more than, Evan. He may or may not have purchased them matching tornadeo wrangler t-shirts right after the movie finished.)

Evan’s eyes had been raw and red; he was still covered in dirt and ash walking through Tommy’s door. He didn’t have to say a word; Tommy could read the shift from hell in the tension in his body. He’d immediately wrapped Evan up in his arms and done his level best to help alleviate the aftermath of a long ass shift compounded by a bigoted asshole captain.

Still, even as Tommy likes to think he helped make last night a lot more pleasant for Evan, he wanted to treat him to a nice breakfast. Evan is always cooking for him; he’s memorized Tommy’s favorite foods and particular meals, and he has a sixth sense for knowing exactly when to turn up at Harbor with comfort food for Tommy. The least he can do is return the favor. And breakfast has always been a favorite meal of Tommy’s; an excuse to indulge in the most ridiculous sorts of foods with absurd amounts of sugar. From the way Evan has been shoveling the homemade waffles with whipped cream and strawberries into his mouth, Tommy’s considering this morning overall a success, even if he did happen to let a 'honey' slip out when asking if Evan was enjoying his waffles and thus, open the door for this morning's current shenanigans. (Not that he really minds, of course.)

“No.” Tommy answers, arching an eyebrow at his boyfriend over his coffee and his own food. He does have to bite down on his lip to contain his own smile though. And from the way Evan’s gaze moves straight to his mouth and his Precious Moments blue eyes spark with noticeable interest, he doesn’t miss it either. Teasing and/or flirting with Evan over food is quickly becoming one of Tommy’s favorite pastimes.

“My sugar bear? My sweet honey pie? My darling beau?” Evan places his face in his hands and it’s entirely unfair how that gesture brings out the sweetness of his smile and the addictive energy of his whole being, neon bright like the most creative bar lights in L.A. “Angel? My favorite tornadeo?”

“Do I want to know where you’re coming up with these nicknames?” Tommy asks after a deep sip of coffee, spicy, warm, and mixed with hot chocolate, just the way he likes it. Each term of endearment seems more ridiculous than the last although, admittedly, Tommy can’t contain his smile at ‘my favorite tornadeo.’

Evan grins around another bite of waffle before he washes his food down with the glass of orange juice next to his plate. “I may or may not have found a book of creative terms of endearment at the flea market with Hen and Karen the other week,” he admits. The curve of his smile is as open as the clearest blue sky; Tommy wants to navigate his way through life with that smile all around him.

“Lovebug? Main squeeze? Darling dear?” Evan asks, and goddamn it, Tommy is so in love with this buttercup of a man. His eyes widen; he smirks around his coffee as inspiration strikes. What can he say? Evan isn’t the only one who can get swept away in a moment.

“Whatever you say, buttercup.”

Tommy sets aside his empty mug as he says it, relishing the way Evan’s whole face turns tulip pink and the man himself seems to lose all capability of speech. He walks over and leans in as he cups Evan’s face, pressing his heart into Evan’s tongue as they kiss. Evan presses his own heart back; Tommy tastes it in the breathless moan Evan lets slip like wayward honey. Evan tastes sweet like strawberries and whipped cream; Tommy imagines he must taste like coffee. A perfect blend of bitter and sweet.

By the time they part for air, Evan’s eyes are wide and shining and his lips are kiss swollen; blooming. He smirks a little, and Tommy feels his soul swoop down into his stomach, like he’s about to fall over the drop of a rollercoaster.

“Okay beautiful.”
