Watched Rear Window last week. Went a little overboard on what was supposed to be a simple expression/design study.

Maybe one of the most bone-chilling scenes in film.

Happy (Late) Godzilla Day!!
This took me so long to finish, but absolutely worth the effort! So many Godzillas, and yet these aren't all the different looks Godzilla's gone through. But this is definitely the most amount of characters on a canvas I've done thus far.
We have OG Godzilla and Kiryu Saga Godzilla talking to each other, probably how the humans took the bones of OG to build Kiryu(Mechagodzilla).
Then there's Burning Godzilla protecting Little Godzilla from Spacegodzilla.
Below them is Godzilla from Final Wars flipping off literally anyone really. Which makes sense, in his movie he more or less one-shot most of the monsters he fought. Or at least won with little issues until the final boss.
We have Monsterverse Godzilla meeting the different forms of Shin Godzilla, and being a little confused how he went from the little guy to the big guy.
And last, but absolutely not least, GMK Godzilla and Minus One Godzilla are in a roaring match, probably about to throw down. No idea who'd win, but GMK is a little bigger. And fought and killed three monsters already. So might have the edge.
Okay but I couldn't help but put those two together because of the similarities between the two(going out of their way to kill humans, having regenerative properties(or at least faster than usual for being Godzilla), the end scene specifically for that last point, and just being absolute menaces in their movies.
Edut: oh and I forgot to mention, I used my SH Monsterarts figures as the ref for their poses!!

Mel Brooks's Young Frankenstein turns 50 these days. Feel old yet ?
50 years later, it seems director Mel Brooks and actor Gene Hackman (as the blind priest) are the only ones still alive among the cast of this great 70s movie (there's also Anne Beesley who played the little girl).

what if we worked as ranch hands together for decades and then you got mauled by a bear because I was drunk on the job because of the recent harrowing death of my young son and then I spent the rest of my days as a recluse taking care of you and exclusively spending my time with you while you lived on my ranch and continuously bitched at me about this bear as a metaphor for both of us getting back to living our lives and dealing with our grief. what if I finally did it by forcibly co-adopting my estranged daughter-in-law and the granddaughter I didn’t know I had with you and therein ended up experiencing the joy of family and community again. AND my up-until-recently-secret granddaughter called us two gay old cowboys to our face. and then me and her tried stealing the bear from a local zoo/circus for you but accidentally set it free instead because wink wink it’s a metaphor wink wink. what then

I saw The man of Maisinicu yesterday, and man. What a movie.
Maybe it's because I don't usually watch these type of films, where people talk uninterrupted for several minutes without a single cut, or maybe it's just a style of filmmaking that isn't really used anymore, but the natural yet still gripping acting is incredible.
Everyone holds the same high standard throughout the movie, with the actor playing the titular man from Maisinicu rightfully winning the price for best actor at the soviet film festival when it came out.
The story itself is equally amazing. It's a dramatisation of what happened to Alberto Delgado y Delgado, a man that infiltrated the counter-revolutionaries of Cuba during the 60's, beginning with his death by the very same people.
The story is told non-linearly but very clearly as every witness report slowly builds up to the final scene, showing how Alberto had to work quite hard to maintain his facade towards both sides while doing his part to protect the revolution.
I have to say, this movie does a great job at gripping you. Even though you know everyone is a horrible criminal, you end up hoping they succeed with their escapes from the country, partially because you can't help sharing their worries and joys, partially beacuse you worry for Alberto himself. "If he doesn't pull of this action, they'll start to doubt him, they might kill him". It's a thought that returns several times, until you reach the tragic end.
The movie is in black and white, but the filmography is impeccable. It pans around a scene for several seconds before an actor steps in, night scenes are perfectly clear despite the darkness engulfing everyone, they know how to frame a scene to give it a friendly atmosphere, and they know how to switch it to turn it into a threatening one.
You should watch The man from Maisinicu. It's a good movie.

Kinda wild that Fred Astaire was a famously private person about whose personal life we know very little and who literally put a provision in his will asking that there never be a film made of his life story and the guy who directed Paddington saw all that and said oh shit I have to make a biopic of this man

one big downside to having many blorbos that I'm noticing is that if i'm ever at all plagued by inconsistent moods, i just bounce back and forth between them like a ping pong ball and give myself conceptual whiplash

Hey I just started watching Rick and Morty a couple weeks ago and why is the plot of like half of the episodes “Morty has an interest/hobby/person(s) he looks up to/dream or goal for the future. Rick finds out about this and is annoyed or jealous. He then concocts a scheme to crush Morty’s dreams and make his only plan for the future to go on adventures in space with Rick forever.” Something is wrong with this old man.

I think it's really funny that most of the musical numbers in "Singin in the Rain" aren't supposed to be metaphorical or exaggerated. Like, the extras are weirded out by the main character XD
Also in one of the first scenes a girl in the audience is like: "He's so refined. I think I'll k*ll myself" I feel like that's something you could also find the fangirls of today saying here on Tumblr. Relatable for real.
And just Donald O'Connors Character in general! (Especially the little bit about him thinking he'd get fired, then not getting fired). So funny.
