In short, Watch Me Bloom is my post-canon exploration of Hot Pants if she had survived the train fight with Valentine. In it, she's forced to confront and unpack a lot of her past traumas, while also coming to terms with her self-worth and accepting she's allowed to be happy. Working on this project has been very personal for me, and it holds a very special place in my heart.

Mere months after the race Hot Pants and Diego are ambushed upon return from delivering the corpse to the Vatican. Aloysius wants what they no longer have, but won't let that stop her. A fight with their time based stand lands the duo ten years in the future where they'll have to confront more than just enemy stand users seeking the corpse.

The story is broken into four acts: Roses, Lotus, Violet, and Iris. Directly from my notes, here's a little break down.

| Roses

Flower Meaning: Strong feelings, varying by color. White for innocence and purity, red for romance, and black for death, mourning, the end of things, new beginnings.

Hot Pants feels trapped at the convent, caught in the rose bush’s vines. Held back by her past. Returning to the convent (white), her relationship with Diego (red), and her grief holding her back (black).

Roses covers right after the race through the jump to 1901, from To Be Alright to Midnight Hands.

| Lotus

Flower Meaning: Coming out on the other side of something difficult, knowledge and wisdom, rebirth.

Mama pants* is symbolic of the Lotus, having faced her issues and coming away from them stronger and wiser. She imparts what she can onto HP to help her on that journey as well. She stands as what HP could become.

Lotus covers the entire time in 1901, from Midnight Hands to The Last Beat of My Heart

*Mama Pants is my shorthand for 1901! Hot Pants. In her timeline she's married to Diego, and has a son, Giorno.

| Violet

Flower Meaning: Clarity within the self, remembrance, faithfulness, and everlasting love.

Hot Pants returns home to try to reconcile with her parents and come face to face with her childhood traumas. Her time with Mama Pants has given her the strength to come back to Florence despite her fears.

Violet covers Hot Pants' time home in Florence, from The Ghost in You to Echo of My Shadow.

| Iris

Flower Meaning: Communication and messages, courage and valor, positive change.

Iris is still the most unclear section. What I do know, is that it's the light at the end of the tunnel for Hot Pants. Things aren't perfect, but they're finally getting better. Of the four acts, it's by far the lightest.

Character wise, the story most prominently features Hot Pants, Diego, and Lucy, as well as their 1901 counterparts. In the way of original characters, there are Aloysius, Cicely, and Mother Absynthe.

Aloysius Cocteau 22 | They/She

Former underling of Valentine's, working for a promised large reward if they obtain the corpse parts by any means necessary. They are initially unaware of Valentine’s death, nor that Diego and HP are no longer in possession of the corpse, rather it is safely tucked away under the Vatican’s watchful eye.

Their stand Midnight Hands allows them (and others) to jump through time as they please as long as there's a doorway around, or through the webs the stand can spin. Their range is limited as to not expend energy on bystanders, but they more than make up for it in versatility. Midnight Hands takes form in the shape of eight inky black hands extending from her back, creating a spider-like silhouette.

Cicely Chiaramonte 24 | She/Her

Ex-Nun with a grudge against the church. She acts as Aloysius's inside man at the Vatican willing to do their dirty work for her own personal gain.

Her stand Broken Mirrors creates sentient reflections in surfaces made to panic the target. The more scared they are, the more real the reflections become, soon able to take form and crawl out on their own. In this state they're able to physically attack and overwhelm the person, usually through suffocation.

An additional ability, Sanity, allows Broken Mirrors to attach itself to anyone it's captured, trapping the person in a void-like place inside their mind, further feeding on their fears and draining their life. It's a much slower attack, but those afflicted by Sanity are usually in too weak a state to fight back.

Mother Absynthe 52 | She/Her

Vittoria, better known as Mother Absynthe, is the Reverend Mother for the Sisters of The Sacred Heart convent. She'll do whatever she can to preserve the convent's secrets, and peace of mind for her sisters.

Her stand Heaven Tonight keeps the sisters placated despite what horrors happen around them through the drinking of communion wine. It's calming presence promises to take care of the sisters, safe in the convent, away from the cold, harsh world, lest they try to leave.

Hopefully that's enough to pique some interest. I sometimes forget that there's so much in my head and so little actually posted. I have stuff for the story all tagged under #Watch Me Bloom if you wanna poke through there. On top of character refs and Hot Pants art tied to the story, there's some rambles and also old comics I did of cut down scenes for class.
