4 December 1968
George Harrison drafts the following memo for Apple staff:
Hells Angels will be in London within the next week, on the way to straighten out Czechoslovakia. There will be twelve in number complete with black leather jackets and motor cycles. They will undoubtedly arrive at Apple and I have heard they may try to make full use of Apple’s facilities. They may look as though they are going to do you in but are very straight and do good things, so don’t fear them or up-tight them. Try to assist them without neglecting your Apple business and without letting them take control of Savile Row.
Running a business sounds super easy.

4 December. To die would mean nothing else than to surrender a nothing to the nothing, but that would be impossible to conceive, for how could a person, even only as a nothing, consciously surrender himself to the nothing, and not merely to an empty nothing but rather to a roaring nothing whose nothingness consists only in its incomprehensibility.

World Wildlife Conservation Day
World Wildlife Conservation Day is on December 4 and we’re so excited to spread awareness about preserving Earth’s endangered flora and fauna. What do you think the most invasive species on Earth is? Monkeys? Catfish? Locusts? It’s us, humans. Nature’s most magnificent creatures are becoming endangered and being pushed to the brink of extinction by the greed of some humans, and this is causing irreparable harm to the wildlife ecosystem.
History of World Wildlife Conservation Day
World Wildlife Conservation Day is an occasion to be aware, reflect, and take action when it comes to issues that are threatening the planet’s wildlife biodiversity balance. Driven by the demand for illegal animal parts and products on the black market, humans have been hunting, poaching, and slaughtering several wildlife species to the brink of extinction . Human interference in the world’s natural ecosystem has been ongoing for centuries. In the modern world, as humans traveled and settled in different parts of the world, they cleared land for farming, cut forests for shipbuilding, and began hunting and trapping for money. Over the years, wildlife hunting and poaching became more common and wildlife populations started to decline across the globe.
On November 8, 2012, Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State at that time, put out a call to action to raise awareness and engage conservationists and wildlife enthusiasts about World Wildlife Conservation Day. She also outlined the White House’s strategy to address the global problem of wildlife trafficking.
Unfortunately, even today, the illegal trade of endangered species on the black market is rising. Although governments across the world are trying their best and, in some cases, succeeding to stop this act, not all species are safe from poachers and hunters. This not only affects the wildlife but also the lives of millions of people who live within or close to forested areas in different parts of the world. So, it is time we act and work together to preserve and protect the wildlife to ensure their survival.

World Wildlife Conservation Day FAQs
How do you classify a species as endangered?
If the population of a certain species declines between 50% to 70% and if its population is restricted to less than 250 mature individuals, the species is classified as endangered.
Can extinct species come back to life?
There have been some natural occurrences and successful experiments in the past that have brought back extinct species to life. But this is extremely rare.
What is the latest species to go extinct?
Sadly, there are many animals on this list including the northern white rhinoceros, Spix’s macaw, baiji, and many more!
How to Observe World Wildlife Conservation Day
Spread the word: The greatest and noblest thing you can do today is to educate those around you. Spread awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation to your friends and family.
Take a pledge: Take the wildlife pledge. Join millions of other individuals in protecting our planet’s most endangered species and acting against illegal poaching or anything that negatively impacts the wildlife
Donate to the cause: You can make a charitable donation to the World Wildlife Fund (W.W.F.). All of the donations you make go directly towards training and equipping wildlife protectors.
5 Astonishing Facts About Wildlife That Might Surprise You
The list of endangered species is dishearteningAs of now, there are 41,415 species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature red list and 16,306 of them are extremely endangered species.
Protect the rhinosJavan Rhinos are the most critically endangered species — only 67 of them remain!
We are the baddiesIn the last 500 years, human activity has forced 869 species to extinction.
Asian countries top the listIndonesia, China, and India are among the countries with the most threatened mammals and bird species.
The numbers are droppingIn a shocking survey, it is found that the wildlife population size dropped by 68% between 1970 and 2018.
Why World Wildlife Conservation Day is Important
It is a day to make a difference: World Wildlife Conservation Day is not just a day to learn about wildlife and endangered species. It is a day in which we can actually make a difference by protecting and preserving our wildlife.
It brings people together: The love for nature and wildlife is something that most people have in common. By spreading awareness and doing your part to preserve wildlife, you can meet a lot of people who share the same interest as you.
Wildlife conservation is an important lesson: Although mankind is responsible for the endangerment and extinction of several species, the fact that good-hearted humans can work together to protect our wildlife is a lesson that everyone needs to learn. Today is the day to do so!

Regulatory Environment of Financial Institutions.
Financial regulations are laws and rules that govern financial institutions. Regulations of financial institutions focus on providing stability to the financial system, fair competition, consumer protection, and prevention and reduction of financial crimes. By the mid-1970s, the global financial system witnessed market-oriented reforms that led to liberalization in the financial system, such as the reduction of interest rate controls, removal of investment restrictions on financial institutions and a line of business restrictions, and control on international capital movements. The modern trend observed is that financial sector regulation is moving toward a greater cross-sector integration of financial supervision. In 1998, the adoption of the Basel Accord, which required international banks to attain an 8% capital adequacy ratio was a major significant milestone in banking regulations. The collapse of the global financial system that led to the global crisis can be attributed to the systemic failure of financial regulation. Basel I defined bank capital and bank capital ratio based on two-tier systems. The Basel II framework consisted of Part 1, the scope of application and three pillars, the first one being minimum capital requirements, the second one a supervisory review process, and the third pillar is market discipline. The Basel III framework prepared new capital and liquidity requirements for banks.

It's that time of the year again. Spotify tells you which songs you've been listening to, as if I didn't already know.
The majority of the past year I spent in deep depression. The kind where I could only handle so many stimuli from the outside world, so I spent most of my days with my headphones on. As I brushed my teeth. Went to the toilet. Prepared food. Did my Duolingo lessons. Did the dishes. Scrolled Tumblr.
One song. On repeat. Over and over and over. Day after day.
At the start of the year, I wasn't even able to leave the house without, so I made a playlist called, "On the Road", and downloaded it to my phone. No internet needed. I never listened to the playlist as a whole. Too much change. Just pick a song, and play it again and again. At the start of the year, there were only four songs on this playlist. Now it holds twelve. I still use it sometimes.
Spotify tells me February was my Atmospheric Fantasy Soundtrack month. No surprise there. I had finished the Mass Effect Trilogy for the first time, and listened to 'Vigil' and 'An End Once and For All' like they were my lifelines. Oxygen. Buoys in a stormy ocean. No words, just instruments. There was no room in my brain for more than that.
I started understanding the state of my mental health in terms of my listening habits. Can't leave the house without my headphones? Bad day. Can listen to music with words? A little better. No headphones needed? Good day.
These songs embraced me and kept me safe. Allowed me to block out the world that was constantly pressing in. They were a barrier, a guard. They were my safe haven. My certainty. My home.

World Wildlife Conservation Day
The sad truth is that the world’s best loved, beautiful and fascinating species are being slaughtered by widespread and dangerous criminal networks that will stop at nothing to get what they want. And what they want are animal parts and products that for reasons no sane person really understands, are worth lots of money.
There are plenty of synthetic substitutes for things like ivory and fur that don’t require the brutal slaughter of an animal to obtain, not to mention how hard it actually is to tell the difference between high-quality synthetic substitutes and the real thing. And do you mean to tell me no other dish in the world tastes as good as shark fin soup, and that we really have to mutilate live sharks and then throw them back into the ocean to die? Long story short, there is simply no excuse for the amount of animals being poached every year.
And yet they are. In 2011 alone, for example, there were 13 large-scale seizures of ivory, and over 23 tons of ivory confiscated, which is equivalent to at least 2,500 elephants. A 2010 United Nations report suggests that gorillas could disappear altogether from large parts of the Congo Basin by the mid-2020s.

A 2010 United Nations report suggests that gorillas could disappear altogether from large parts of the Congo Basin by the mid-2020s.
And it is not just the animals that are suffering. Park rangers get killed on a regular basis by poachers they’re trying to stop, and the local economies of entire towns and villages suffer terrible damage once enough wildlife is wiped out to make them irrelevant as wildlife tourism destinations. Corruption and intimidation are weakening law enforcement efforts. Unscreened wildlife and wildlife parts increase the risk of human health pandemics such as bird flu. Everyone involved is suffering.
History of World Wildlife Conservation Day
A call to action was put out by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2012 to raise awareness and engage conservationists on Wildlife Conservation Day, December 4.
During the “Wildlife Trafficking and Conservation: A Call to Action” event held at the State Department on November 8th 2012, Secretary Clinton outlined the White House’s strategy to address the global problem of wildlife trafficking. These efforts are estimated to cost between $7 and $10 billion dollars a year.
“Wildlife cannot be manufactured. And once it’s gone, it cannot be replenished. Those who profit from it illegally are not just undermining our borders and our economies, they are truly stealing from the next generation,” she said.
How to Celebrate World Wildlife Conservation Day
Raise awareness and contribute to the conservation and protection of endangered species such as elephants, rhinos and tigers on World Wildlife Conservation Day’s website.
This global occasion provides everyone with the opportunity to learn more about wildlife conservation and to be part of the solution to wildlife crime. Go online and join the thousands of other individuals who have taken the wildlife pledge.
Promise to learn more about wildlife conservation, to spread the word about the importance of protecting our plane’ts most endangered species and the impact of poaching on our environment. Learn how to become a responsible consumer in order to stop illicit wildlife trade.
You can also take direct action by making a charitable donation to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). 100% of all donations go towards training and equipping the rangers who are the wildlife protectors, and often the only thing standing between a baby tiger or elephant and a poacher.
