when i got laid off last year i went and worked for a startup bc it was the Only and Fastest option. now im at a point where i get to choose between another startup and something less insane. and i just. i hear the siren call of the startup. and i suddenly understand the “u have to be a little insane to go work at one” and WOW i dont know myself well enough to make this decision bc everytime every job i have chosen has in some way been chosen For me by lack of options.
#my therapist: i think u tried to self sabotaged this opportunity#bc u didnt know if u could turn it down#and at first i was like#psh no#and then today when they went we know ur not far along in ur career and we want u anyway#i was like…oh.#ohhhhhh nooooo#bc the plan the mission#was to go work for my ex companies competitor#and curbstomp them until the ceo was crying for his mommy#but now- now i gotta faaaaaaawwwwwk#now i gotta aaaaaaaa#delete later#u also dont understand the ex competitor has the most INSANE interview gauntlet#and im actually so fucking impressed i passed#in other news i have so many tales of interviews#one company was like console log set timeout consile log#what order do they print in#and i was like?? i could only guess#and they went how long have u been doing this job?#3 years???#i wouldve guessed 1.5#BC OF THAT QUESTION#WELL SIR I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS JOB FOR 3 YEARS NOBODY CODES LIKE THIS#and they were like we can offer u a junior role#JUNIOR!!!#lack kf options isnt the best way to put it#it was lack of options lack of options pure skill B) lateral move decision under duress friend referral lack of options lack of options#in that order
