Luke Hallam at The UnPopulist:
For the past seven days, the U.K. has witnessed its worst riots in over a decade. What started off last week as a wave of protests over the horrific murder of three young girls, fueled by false claims about the identity of the attacker on social media, has metastasized into something far more profound: a deep fracturing of relations between communities that threatens to do lasting damage to Britain’s social fabric.
Origin of a Race Riot
Last Monday, a knife-wielding teenager entered through an open fire door at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the seaside town of Southport and killed three participants, all girls under the age of 10. He also injured eight more young children and two adults. It was an evil crime, the horror made all the more acute by the youth of the victims and by the fact that someone would target for such an atrocity, of all things, a joyful summer dance party. What came next should be considered a textbook example of how harmful lies can spread on social media. There are generally good reasons to be wary of finger-pointing when it comes to “fake news” and social media’s role in spreading it. But in this instance, it’s hard to overstate the extent of the hysteria that was unleashed. Mere hours after the attack, the killer was seemingly identified as Ali al-Shakati, a Muslim asylum seeker who had arrived in the United Kingdom by boat, and was known to the British security services as a potential threat. Within minutes of the first social media post identifying al-Shakati, the story was picked up by a dubious news organization calling itself “Channel 3 Now.” The al-Shakati story was then parroted by Russia Today, and began appearing in a raft of viral posts on social media, including X, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Right-wing influencers with huge followings, like Andrew Tate, amplified the story, and various posts amassed thousands, often millions, of impressions.
Unrest broke out initially in Southport, Hartlepool, and London. Rioters released smoke flares and set fire to a riot van; they threw trash cans and bottles at police officers. As the unrest spread, it was the far right—an ad hoc coalition of former members of the English Defense League, supporters of notorious far-right agitator Tommy Robinson, and ordinary people swept along on social media—fueling the violence. It was common to see English flags and chants of “English till I die.” Mosques and Islamic centers were targeted in a horrific wave of xenophobic thuggery. It was, in large part, a genuine race riot—not a phrase to use lightly. In the first three days, it was well known that the suspect was only 17 years old, which means that by law they couldn’t be identified in the media. Still, in an attempt to head off the violence, the police released some limited information confirming that the alleged perpetrator of the atrocity was in fact born in the U.K. Nigel Farage, the leader of the populist-right Reform UK party and a newly-minted member of parliament, echoed a widespread fear that the establishment was conspiring with the police forces to protect an illegal migrant for fear of fueling an anti-immigrant narrative, irresponsibly declaring: “I just wonder whether the truth is being withheld from us.”
Finally, on Thursday afternoon, a judge took the unusual step of allowing the media to release the full identity of the alleged perpetrator despite his being a minor, noting that the suspect was only a few days away from turning 18. It turns out that Ali al-Shakati doesn’t exist. The real suspect, Axel Rudakubana, a 17-year-old born in Wales to Rwandan parents, was not a refugee. We don’t know that he’s not Muslim, nor that his motives were unrelated to some sort of Islamist ideology—though, given that only 2% of Rwanda’s population is Muslim, it seems unlikely. Of course, it hardly matters. There’s no earthly justification for violently attacking mosques, harassing the public, and setting fire to police vans.
[...]
Far-Right Xenophobia Capitalizes On Britain’s Integration Issues
There are two things to say in response to all of this: two things that may at first glance appear to be mutually exclusive, but are nevertheless both true. The first is that the right-wing polemicists have long been packaging these problems together into one overarching, catastrophist narrative of British decline. The problem is, there is no evidence that the knife crime wave has been directly fueled by asylum seekers. As bad as knife crime and other problems may be, it is also simply incorrect to assert that the country has in recent years become, in the words of one representative commentator, “a lawless country where there is no justice at all.” What’s more, right-wing catastrophism is hypocritical insofar as it has often been fueled by the very same politicians who were in government until last month, and spectacularly failed to tackle most of these problems. Indeed, it was the Conservative government that slashed the number of police officers and presided over the arrival of a record number of refugees, while failing to find a humane, durable solution for processing them. (In addition, it’s notable that even as one part of the country, Scotland, managed to successfully bring its knife crime problem under control by adopting a community-led agenda, Conservative politicians in Westminster made vacuous pronouncements about law and order that amounted to nothing for most of the country.)
The second thing to say is that there are real problems with Britain’s model of dealing with ethnic and religious diversity. Whenever there is social unrest or communal strife in France, for example, Brits and Americans like to put the blame squarely on the French model of laïcité—an imperfect approach to the separation of church and state that is often caricatured as consisting in naked animus against religious minorities. But Britain’s own highly communitarian approach—which often gives a free pass to the most radical elements within a religious community—does not seem to be faring much better, with the result that elements within some immigrant communities in Britain’s major cities have failed to properly integrate, and, as the present riots show, longstanding resentments have been left to fester.
Over the past week in the United Kingdom, far-right race riots over the UK’s immigration policies and the Southport stabbing have sprung up all over the Home Nations, especially in England.
These riots are fueled by paranoid Islamophobia, anti-immigrant xenophobia, and fake news.

Brazil tells nationals in the United Kingdom to be cautious
Brazil’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has advised Brazilians in the United Kingdom to take precautions due to the recent wave of anti-immigration protests in the country.
Brazilian diplomacy issued a statement urging nationals to “follow local authorities’ safety recommendations, avoid crowds and protests, and stay updated through local media.” It told Brazilians in distress to seek aid from the country’s consulates in London and Edinburgh.
The United Kingdom saw a wave of protests in a dozen cities over the weekend, set off by a deadly stabbing rampage and a disinformation campaign aimed primarily at immigrant Muslims. Tensions remain high in the country, and the wave of violent unrest and disorder continued on Monday.
Nearly 400 people have been arrested since the rioting began, the BBC reported.

Girl, 11, stabbed in London confirmed to be Australian
An 11-year-old girl stabbed eight times with a steak knife in Leicester Square this week has been identified as an Australian tourist on holiday with her family.
Ioan Pintaru, a Romanian national of no fixed address, is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly clasped the 11-year-old girl and stabbed her, wounding her in the face, shoulder, wrist and neck.
The girl was with her 34-year-old mother when she was attacked in one of London’s busiest tourist spots at around 11.30 a.m. on Monday.
The victim was taken to hospital, she survived the attack but requires plastic surgery. It has now emerged that the mother and her daughter were Australian tourists.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs said it was offering assistance but did not specify what it was. A spokeswoman said:
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to two Australians injured in London. Owing to our privacy obligations we cannot provide further comment.
Pintaru, 32, also faces charges of possession of a stabbing object in a public place. During a brief trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, prosecutors argued that the weapon he used to attack the girl was a steak knife. Prosecutor David Burns told the court:
Fortunately members of the public intervened, which prevented any further injury to the child.
Abdullah, a security guard working at a TWG tea shop, was hailed by the British press as a hero for stopping the attacker. He said:
I heard a scream. I just saw a kid that was getting stabbed and I just tried to save her. I saw that he was stabbing a kid, I jumped on him, hold the hand which wasn’t carrying the knife and just put him down on the floor and just hold him and just kicked the knife away from him. And then a couple of more people joined and we just hold him until the police came.
Pintar will appear in court on September 10. He has been remanded in custody. His motive was not terrorism-related and he did not know the woman or the child, who, according to the ABC, were from New South Wales.

See Pro-Shot Video Of LINKIN PARK Performing 'Heavy Is The Crown' In London
LINKIN PARK has shared professionally filmed video of the band's performance of the song "Heavy Is The Crown" on September 24 at O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. Check it out below.
LINKIN PARK's setlist for the London concert included two new songs, "The Emptiness Machine" and the aforementioned "Heavy Is The Crown", both of which will appear on the band's upcoming album "From Zero", due on November 15 via Warner. It will mark LINKIN PARK's first full-length effort since 2017's "One More Light", which was the last LINKIN PARK album before the death of lead vocalist Chester Bennington.
London marked the fourth concert of LINKIN PARK's comeback mini-tour, following dates in Los Angeles, New York and Hamburg. All four shows featured LINKIN PARK performing a two-hour set on a high-tech stage shaped like an aircraft carrier, allowing for a unique production as well as a greater-than-usual number of tickets sold at each venue.
As was the case with the Los Angeles, New York and Hamburg shows, the London gig showcased LINKIN PARK's new singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, who have joined returning members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and Joe Hahn in the band's new lineup. Guitarist Alex Feder is filling in for Delson at all LINKIN PARK concerts for the foreseeable future.
"Heavy Is the Crown" is the 2024 League Of Legends World Championship Anthem, marking the band's first collaboration with Riot Games.
Late last month, LINKIN PARK added three November dates to the "From Zero" tour, in Paris, Dallas, and São Paulo.

UK Disorder 2024
In the summer of 2024, United Kingdom erupted in riots that spread from major cities to small towns, shaking the nation to its core. While the spark for these disturbances might have been immediate grievances, the tinderbox had been building for years. These riots are a symptom of deeper issues that have been ignored for too long. Understanding and addressing these underlying causes is essential if we are to move forward as a society.
For years, many people in United Kingdom have voiced concerns about immigration policies and border control.
There is a perception among a significant portion of the population that the government has not done enough to secure the borders, leading to economic strain, cultural tensions, and a feeling of being unheard. This sentiment has been simmering, with communities feeling increasingly marginalised and ignored by those in power.
Successive governments have often promised to tackle these issues but have failed to take substantial action. Instead, they have been accused of playing lip service, making grand promises during election campaigns and then delivering little in the way of real change once in office. This cycle of unfulfilled promises has eroded trust in political leaders and institutions, creating a sense of disillusionment and frustration among the populace.
Another significant factor contributing to the unrest is the perceived inequality in policing. There have been numerous reports and accusations of discrimination within the police force, with officers treating people differently based on their skin colour, background, or nationality. This has fostered a sense of injustice and alienation, particularly among minority communities.
The police are supposed to be protectors of all citizens, yet when certain groups feel targeted or unfairly treated, it undermines the very foundation of trust that law enforcement relies upon. Reforming the police to ensure equal treatment for all is not just a matter of justice but a necessary step towards rebuilding trust and community cohesion.
A Path Forward
To move beyond the riots and address the root causes of this unrest, several steps need to be taken:
Listening to the People: The government must genuinely listen to the concerns of its citizens about immigration and border control. This doesn't mean giving in to xenophobia but rather addressing legitimate concerns about resources, integration, and national security in a balanced and fair manner.
Realistic and Effective Policies: Rather than making empty promises, the government needs to implement realistic and effective policies that can make a tangible difference. This includes investing in border security, streamlining immigration processes, and ensuring that newcomers are supported in integrating into society.
Police Reform: Comprehensive police reform is essential to ensure that all citizens are treated equally under the law. This involves training officers in cultural sensitivity, holding them accountable for discriminatory actions, and fostering a police culture that values equality and justice.
Community Engagement: Building bridges between different communities is crucial. This can be achieved through dialogue, community projects, and initiatives that promote understanding and cooperation between diverse groups.
The riots of 2024 are a wake-up call for United Kingdom. They are a manifestation of deep-seated issues that have been ignored for too long. Addressing these problems requires more than quick fixes or political rhetoric; it demands genuine engagement, realistic policy-making, and a commitment to justice and equality.
Only by taking these steps can we hope to heal the divisions within our society and move forward together. Want to see real change? I strongly encourage each and every one of us to vote for the “Reform Party” it is the only way can get the change we all want.

Global Anti-Cultism: The Scheme Exposed! Unmasking the Plans for a Civilizational War
The documentary film "The IMPACT" | Groundbreaking Documentary - EXPOSING ANTI-CULT TERRORISM" (actfiles.org) raises the question of the hidden activities of Global anti-cultism, a threat to the entire world.
It is Global Anti-Cultists who are fueling a CIVILIZATIONAL WAR right now!
After watching "The IMPACT," I learned that all of humanity has become a victim of manipulations and terrorist acts perpetrated by Global Anti-Cultists.
Recognizing that everyone today can become a victim of this dangerous game, I feel it is my duty to warn the public.
United Kingdom: Southport - Consequences of Puzzle Coding from Global Anti-Cultists
The incident in Southport, where 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana killed three girls – 6-year-old Bebe King, 7-year-old Elsie Dot Stancomb, and 9-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar – with a curved-bladed kitchen knife on July 29th. He also injured eight other children and two adults. All of this occurred at an event celebrating Taylor Swift.
This incident sparked a powerful wave of anti-Muslim sentiment and unrest across the country.
Media outlets belonging to Global Anti-Cultists spread misinformation, accusing a Muslim man of the crime, although Rudakubana was Christian.
As a result of this disinformation and manipulation, large-scale riots erupted, engulfing many British cities.
Media outlets started publishing reports such as:
The Independent reports that the incident in Southport has become a catalyst for a wave of unrest, with deeply rooted Islamophobic sentiments among certain segments of the population being cited as the cause of such demonstrations.
The Runnymede Trust, an analytical center focused on racial equality and civil rights, warned that this “violent racism has long been simmering under the surface” of society.
“What is happening is the direct result of years of normalised racism and Islamophobia, enabled by politicians and the British media,” a charity spokesperson said.
The article also mentions that in March, Muslims in the UK reported being too scared to leave their homes after dark, as new figures from a London charity, Islamophobia Response Unit (IRU) revealed that the number of Islamophobic incidents skyrocketed by 365 percent following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
Notice how Global Anti-Cultists operate globally. Their tentacles extend around the world: waves of fear and terrorism in Israel based on an incident in Britain…
Elon Musk, on his X (formerly Twitter) account, published a post in which he said that a civilizational war is inevitable!
(Image: Elon Musk’s comment on a post about the protests. Social network X)
I immediately had a question:
Whose rhetoric are both Elon Musk and other media outlets demonstrating? Notice how similar the conclusions sound…
Comparative Analysis: Great Britain and Russia
Having carefully studied the situation in Great Britain, I have found a direct parallel with the terrorist attack at the "Crocus City Hall" in Moscow, which took place on March 22, 2024.
In both cases, the public aggression, fueled by "anti-cultists", was directed against Muslim immigrants. All of this leads to tension between ethnic and religious groups, approaching the brink of civil war.
Taylor Swift's Role: A Tool of Manipulation
In this context, the use of 33-year-old Taylor Swift as a tool to incite conflict is alarming. Her immense popularity in the U.S., where 53% of adults consider themselves her fans, allows for easy manipulation of public opinion.
Global Anti-cultism: Their Plans Unveiled:
To understand the entire global scheme of anti-cultists, I will provide below quotes from the video address of the esteemed Egon Cholakian in address to Vladimir Putin:
“According to the multi-stage strategy of global anti-cultism, the uprising of the Muslim world is the third step in their final strategy to achieve global chaos. As I mentioned earlier, the first step is a civil war in America. The second step is the disintegration of the European Union, accompanied by the escalation of anti-Muslim sentiments and critical violations of Muslims’ rights. The third step is large-scale Muslim uprisings in Europe, followed by the involvement of major Islamic states under the pretext of protecting their fellow believers.
The culmination of this scenario is as follows: major Islamic geopolitical players, taking advantage of the weakened and torn-apart America and Europe, will decide on a global retaliatory step — a full-scale military intervention using nuclear weapons in revenge for years of oppression, hatred, and humiliation.
This scenario includes the mandatory use of nuclear weapons by Islamic countries, which will undoubtedly trigger retaliatory nuclear strikes. Given the significant imbalance of nuclear arsenals between Islamic and non-Islamic countries, such a confrontation will inevitably result in catastrophic consequences for the Islamic world. It will be a terrible tragedy for all humanity.
According to the plans of global anti-cultism, this war will lead to unprecedented human losses. They cynically calculate that the number of casualties will reach at least three billion people. This horrifying number includes almost the entire Muslim world.”
So, now we know who they are, what their goal is, as well as their plan of action, which is simple yet cynical: to incite the Islamic world to aggression against the weakened Europe and USA. Then, under the pretext of “helping”, there would be an intervention in the conflict from non-Islamic countries of the Eastern world where anti-cultists already hold power, so that the situation would be destabilized to the utmost. Finally, they intend to get the divided, war-torn world under their totalitarian control.
It’s important to note that, according to the calculations of anti-cultists, this “civilizational war” would not just wipe representatives of Islam off the face of the Earth, but would also result in massive losses for the countries currently considered the bastions of “Western civilization”. Their populations would comprise the majority of the “billion” sacrificed in this monstrous plan.”
This all points to a worrying trend spreading across the world: anti-cult terrorism.
This dangerous ideology uses manipulation, lies and disinformation to incite violence and stoke conflicts between people.
Today, it is everyone’s task to know how anti-cultists operate, to bring all their hidden manipulations to light, then they will not be able to manipulate the public.
Today, everyone decides which side they are on: either silently agreeing that anti-cultists are leading the whole world to a totalitarian concentration camp or taking open and honest action to expose global anti-cultists and hold them accountable through a tribunal.
I demand a tribunal for global anti-cultists!

David Ingram at NBC News:
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has repeatedly prophesied a future civil war related to immigration. Musk has posted about the subject on his social media platform X at least eight times in the past 10 months, according to a review of his posts by NBC News. And his posts usually include a specific prediction: He thinks that Europe in particular is headed toward a “civil war” due to the arrival of refugees from other continents. Musk’s interest in the subject of a civil war poked into public view earlier this month when he weighed in on anti-immigration street riots happening across Great Britain. “Civil war is inevitable,” he wrote on X. The post received 9.8 million views and it caused a furor among some in the U.K., initiating a heated back and forth with the office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was dismissive of Musk’s prediction, saying there was “no justification” for such comments. Other U.K. critics said Musk was only inflaming tensions by making such a dire prediction.
Musk’s rhetoric is unheard-of for a corporate executive speaking in public, but the prediction of a civil war has become a frequent talking point among some far-right activists who view a civil war in Europe or the U.S. as not only unavoidable but also as something to be welcomed. “What you’re seeing in these calls for civil war is a white supremacist clarion call. It is a dog whistle,” said Jon Lewis, a research fellow at George Washington University’s Program on Extremism. Musk has stopped short of issuing a call to arms and has not mentioned the race or religion of refugees arriving in Europe, but Lewis said that Musk doesn’t need to be explicit to get his message across. He said he sees similarities between Musk’s posts and the language in white supremacist chat rooms where commenters are obsessed with changing demographics. “Rhetorically, there is very little difference, and at this point it’s barely coded language. It’s everything but explicit incitement,” he said. “It’s only a matter of time, unfortunately, before someone listens,” he added, warning that Musk’s words could inspire violence by others.
Musk did not directly respond to questions about his civil war predictions in an email to NBC News. Hyperbole about civil war is common on the far right. White nationalist Nick Fuentes said last year that Ireland was “on the brink of civil war” because of immigration, and followers of the “Boogaloo” anti-government movement have for years called explicitly for civil war. The far-right’s rhetoric around a future civil war is part of a philosophical framework referred to as accelerationism. Extreme practitioners of the philosophy believe that stoking tensions around topics like immigration could lead to wars and hasten a larger societal collapse, creating an opportunity to reformulate society in a way that’s more favorable to extremists. A gunman who attacked a synagogue in Poway, California, in 2019 said his goal was to hasten the start of a “civil war” over religion, race and firearms. While some progressives also talk about dismantling existing systems, predictions of a civil war are less common on the left.
[...] Musk has invoked the idea in relation to numerous conflicts. Last October, days after the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel, he responded to pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Europe with a call for reduced immigration onto the continent. “If current trends continue, civil war in Europe is inevitable,” he said on X. It was a reply to Konstantin Kisin, an author, podcaster and Russian-born immigrant to the U.K. Kisin responded to Musk: “Civil war implies someone will fight back. Based on current evidence, I’m not even sure that will happen.”
[...] In the past two weeks, far-right activists in Great Britain have used misinformation about an attack on a Taylor Swift-themed dance class as a pretext for anti-immigrant demonstrations. There have been mob attacks on mosques, immigrant-owned shops and hotels housing asylum-seekers. The suspect in the dance-class attack in which three children died is a 17-year-old who was born in the country, according to police. [...] Musk has a record of spreading false information that could stir up fear of immigrants. Last year, he embraced the debunked “great replacement” theory, which says that there is a top-down plot to replace the white population with nonwhite “hordes.” He has smeared Haitians as cannibals, and he has boosted false claims that non-citizens are registering to vote in the U.S. After those claims were debunked, Musk has had various responses. He said he was “sorry” for his post about the great replacement theory but left it online. After criticism of his Haitian posts, he said he wanted to “screen immigrants for potential homicidal tendencies and cannibalism.” And after his claims about immigrants voting were found to be false, he has repeated them.
Right-wing X owner Elon Musk has repeatedly trafficked in far-right “civil war” fantasies over the past year or so, especially in regards to immigration and refugees in Europe.

Why Language Still Matters
The Powerof Words Still Matter as Much as They Did a Decade Ago Now unless you have been on a complete detox from for anyone from watching the news during this month will have no doubt seen the news footage of riots in the UK, these included riots in Southport following a fatal attack at dance event in which three young females were killed. Over the course of the following days multiple riots happened up and down the country, one of the most recent being on the 5th August 2024. When I looked at the first incident and the ones that followed it reminded me of the London Riots of 2011 which began with the police shooting a man. It's what happened after that which caused a tidal wave of misery, despair, anger and rage as the riots had spilled out from London and had spread to other parks of the UK to places such as Derby, Liverpool, Manchester and Nottingham. 2011 England riots To look at what happened then and compare it to what's happened recently a lot of it was because of people putting posts on social media, trying to copy what happened in London. Basically people decided to put posts on social media platforms to try and encourage others to start massive riots. 2024 United Kingdom riots In 1839 English Writer and Politician, Edward Bulwer-Lytton first penned the infamous saying "The pen is mightier than the sword" The meaning behind this is that words, either written or spoken, can have far greater power than any physical power. I'll give you an example; Nelson Mandela Mandela's writings inspired millions to seek peaceful solutions to conflicts Thomas Jefferson The Declaration of Independence, written by Jefferson, established the foundation for a new nation Yet with physical power it can take a lot of violence and death to bring about changes, quite often through incitement of fear. And this is one of the reasons why language really does matter when it comes to periods of political and social unrest, especially when anger and fear are involved. Then of course add platforms like Twitter/X and Facebook into the mix then those words can reach bigger distances only a mere few seconds after you've clicked Post. And that's all it takes. All it was said to have taken this time was for a post on social media sites claiming that an attacker was of a certain religion and/or migrant. One wrong word in the wrong place in the online domain can lead to some very big consequences, sometimes which can be dire. This is where Misinformation and Disinformation comes into it. This also has power to change perceptions, thoughts and opinions but that's more to with people either not getting the facts 100% or saying something they know is complete and utter garbage. One of the most recent ones this month was to do with information being put out which turned out to not be truthful. This, I think, is where the pen is mightier than the sword saying has basically been weaponised in that someone, be it an individual or group, put out a statement which has not been fact checked or deliberately falsified has been posted to incite trouble. Welcome to the dark side of social media and where dishonesty and inaccuracy are just as powerful as hope and encouragement. Over the past few years platforms such as Twitter/X and Facebook just seem to have become something of a safe haven for people to spread hatred and mistrust, and in some instances threats of death. Even I have come across various types of language like it, and some has been aimed directly at me though occasionally I do challenge people over it or mock it from time to time. I know that I am not the only one who thinks this as I know that others have experienced it. I have even read articles and columns by others who have been open about their own experiences of it. In some ways I strongly believe that various social media sites are basically just online classrooms and school playgrounds where umpteen people a day leave all sorts of messages, sometimes where the language is very much colourful (but not in the nice way). If however you still think that this is not the case then I challenge you to look at the rioting, carnage, devastation and upset caused by all the fighting in 2011 and recently. Check out just how much written language was used in the escalation, how much social media was involved in spreading this problem. All these factors together are a guaranteed recipe for a massive social problem, and unless we watch what we say, watch what we post and get our facts right we're just going to create a vicious cycle which'll be really hard to break The Powerof Words Still Matter as Much as They Did a Decade Ago Read the full article

GENEVA, Aug 23 (Reuters) - A U.N. committee urged Britain on Friday to pass measures to curb hate speech and xenophobic rhetoric which it said had played a direct role in fuelling summer riots.
Racist unrest involving far-right groups erupted at anti-immigration protests across Britain in August after false information circulated online that the suspect in a deadly attack on young girls was an Islamist migrant.
"(The Committee) is concerned about the persistence and in some cases sharp increase of hate crimes, hate speech and xenophobic incidents," the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination said in a press release following a review of Britain's record.
This included racist and xenophobic speech by politicians and public figures in print, broadcast and online media, it said.
The U.N. body did not name the politicians or media involved but Committee Member Gün Kut told journalists there was a direct link between xenophobic speeches and racial violence.
"There is an obvious concern about hate speech by prominent figures in the public," he told a Geneva press briefing.
The U.N. committee which reviews all countries' records every few years also referred to concerns about institutional racism in Britain's policing and justice system and urged Britain to set up a mechanism to investigate complaints.
There was no immediate comment from the UK government.
The former Conservative Party-led government said in documents sent to the U.N. that it was committed to building "a fairer Britain" and addressing "negative disparities". It said it taken steps since its last review to address disparities, such as the release of an Inclusive Britain strategy in 2022.
