Leverage & Psych are different but similar fun quirky characters build a family & solve crimes/right wrongs haha

They’re also similar in that they’re both shows where I can multi ship & ot3+ the characters in nearly anyway & it works lol

Usually with most shows I have one or two couples I like maybe they’re canon usually not or there’s a couple of crack ships I’m down for but with these two shows there’s toooooons of possibilities & it might be just me but I don’t care I like it

The romances aren’t the shows centre or focus ir purpose but they’re there & all the cast have chemistry with each other so maybe that explains it

I mean there’s a couple of nopes of potential pair ups in each but there’s so many possibilities

I like the canon couples of Nate/Sophie Shawn/Juliet & Hardison/Parker but also I can 100% believe that Nate & Sterling were hooking up back in the day like I’m into Gus/Shawn or Shawn/Lassie just like I’d go for Eliot & Hardison as a couple (also the episode I’m currently watching has some funny Eliot/Sterling crackship hate sex vibes but that probably because I’m looking for it now I’m talking alternate couple options & I like Sterling annoying everybody on occasion haha)

I could buy Sterling & Maggie as a couple or Parker/Eliot I could also buy Juliet/Lassiter as a couple even though they’re not at all shown as couples on screen

Also a world where Gus & Juliet were a couple & I’m probably one of the few who liked Shawn/Abigail

Then there’s Sophie & Maggie or Parker & Maggie or Sophie & Tara or even Parker & Tara as possible couples & though Psych only has 2 consistent female characters why not pair them for Juliet/Karen? It all works for me

Eliot/Parker/Hardison are a OT3 & Psych basically made Gus/Shawn/Juliet as OT3 canon with “will you marry us” also for Leverage I could have bought into Sophie/Nate/Maggie as a throuple too

I kind of wish both teams could have met

I wonder what a Leverage & Psych crossover would have looked like

You know what? I have become a gaylor sympathiser

This is going to be a long post, sorry! Please read the full post before even thinking about commenting.

Over the past few days I’ve seen a few posts on my dash about taylor swift and her fans that have left a bad taste in my mouth.

I know that a lot of people think that some fans of her are “trying to make her gay” and I just wanted to put the record straight and defend some people after actually looking at what’s going on. And I know I’m probably opening myself up for tumblr’s poor reading comprehension but before I start I’m going to say this:

I do not think taylor swift is a lesbian

Ok? Now let’s have a conversation.

First of all from what I’ve seen most of the fans who talk about Taylor swift and queerness do it from a point of literary analysis and learning queer history. This is a huge part of the community and lots of people have said that they never would have learnt so much about queer history without reading taylor swift’s works through a queer lens.

Adding on to that point, it seems a little hypocritical for the gay site which loves queer readings of books, tv shows, songs, musicals, films etc to be bullying a pretty small group of people who are mainly doing queer readings of lyrics. Especially when those people get near constant death threats. Instead of bullying these people (who don’t think or do what you think they think and do) why don’t you go outside and think “does this affect me? No. Do I agree with them? No. Am I going to cyber bully them because of this? No.”

Secondly, for the people who believe that any speculation on a real persons sexuality is 100% wrong. I used to think this too but I have changed my mind a bit about this recently after stopping and thinking about it properly. I’m not trying to change your mind at all I just want you to stop and think for a minute.

If you only get mad when speculation is queer in nature, then maybe think about that for a minute. Why is it totally wrong to think a person might be queer. We probably do it in our daily lives with people we know and they likely do it with us, back in the day that’s how queer people found each other-by speculating on sexuality. Would you be upset if you found out someone that you know thought you might be queer? I wouldn’t, maybe you would but if you would, why? Why is it terrible to think someone might be queer (this is NOT about hounding a person to admit to being queer like shawn mendes, this is just thinking in your head and on your small blog that the person will likely never see). Also this is literally the website where we talk about historical (real people) being gay even when they would have never said something to the equivalent.

An addition to this point before people start saying in the comments is that this is NOT the same situation as with kit connor. The issue there was people assuming that he was straight and taking that role away from a queer person. Speculating that he was queer was the opposite of what happened in that situation. So this is not an example of what happens when you speculate queerness.

Final things to say:

1) don’t believe every post you see with someone looking insane about taylor swift being gay, a lot of them are fake.

2) before anyone says “they should listen to real queer artists instead” most of them very much do. There’s a lot of fans of Hayley kiyoko, girl in red, Janelle monae, tegan and sara, zolita, kehlani etc.

3) there are some queer flags that are there. Sorry but there are. Hairpin drops, lavender, the ladder, flag colours, songs about women, friend of dorothy reference. Whether they are intentional is a different matter.

4) shipping real people is not what is happening for the majority of the people in the community. Also this comes back to queer vs straight again. Plenty of swifties ship taylor with men she’s been seen with and no one goes into their inboxes and sends death threats even when they are the ones making taylor swift all about the men she may or may not have dated.

5) taylor swift has never stated her sexuality. I know this may be hard to belive based off of how some people act, but it’s true. She has made vague statements which could have many meanings but she has never clearly stated anything. When gaylors get upset with taylor it is not because she said she is straight, it’s because they are getting death threats and doxxed and she seems to either be unaware of it (which is unlikely given how she seems to be a little terminally online) or she doesn’t care enough to tell her fans to stop.

6) if she does explicitly say she’s straight then there will probably be disappointment in her use of queer history and flags and her potential queer erasure (as we saw with lavender haze, with straight women describing their relationships as lavender) and centring herself in queer spaces (like the you need to calm down music video) but no one will be angry that she’s not gay. And a lot will probably be grateful that she actually explicitly stated for the record to absolve any confusion. The main issue would likely be other fans ramping up the death threats and bullying.

In conclusion: these people who do queer analysis of Taylor’s work are not trying to out her or make her gay etc. if you don’t understand it that’s fine it’s clearly not for you and you can go quite easily without seeing any of it. It’s not illegal to read works through a queer lens and if it means more people know about queer history then I think that’s a very good thing.

I changed my mind after looking at what a lot of people are actually saying rather than what people perceive them to be saying and maybe you will too?

Just be kinder to people online please and if you don’t like what people are saying block them and do not engage!

there will be MAJOR spoilers under the cut -- so DO NOT click through if you don't want to see Lore spoilers for the Watcher TV episode from Jan 31, 2025!

okay, if you're buckled up then let's crack in!

After several episodes where the Professor and Ryan have been taking Phorgedytol regularly (given to them by Elmer Walter Williams) Ryan convinces the Professor to skip their dose at the end of 7x04 and they start to remember what happened at the end of season six

and that's when we learn the sad news that Estranged Producer Shane Madej (EPSM) died during the season six wrap party

beautiful memorial video here from @trashworldblog - RIP to a real one

now in the trailer and previous episodes we see EPSM walking down this alleyway but here we also see that he stops and turns to face his unknown assailant - so he knows who did this! (I think this will be important - more on this in a minute)

we see Ryan and the Professor both stunned at what they remember

then we pan over to the memorial for Shane and there are lots of easter eggs that I wanted to point out

first, lmao at Shane's lanky body needing a second urn - and also Boo Buddy!

in the next shot, there's a note from someone (Shawn?) that says "I don't really know what you did at Watcher anyway but we'll miss you. PS [your mom] follows me on IG"

and Lizzie's pink note that reads "To my fellow long white Midwestern Producer. I will never phorget u. ♡ Lizzie" and she spelled forget with the "ph"

OMG! "PH" masks the true name of Phorgedytol (instead of Forget-it-all) but also PH is Puppet History!

also scattered in the notes are at least two references to Shane owing people money with, "Shane I can't believe that you never paid me back for that In-N-Out WTF Sam" (not 100% on the name) and another that says "This man still owes me $20… with condolences"

and a note with a drawing of the Spirit Box from Ghost Files that reads "You can still star in Ghost Files if you want (but as a ghost)"

(I definitely feel like the Spirit Box will make an appearance again soon)

and I really wanted to point out the note that's presumably from Ryan that says "Haunt me bitch" signed with a heart (!) and the note in front of the newspaper article that reads "Do Not Haunt Ryan"

another note that could also be from Ryan reads "No for real please haunt me. I -"

(and I'm probably glad the end of this note is cut-off or I'd launch myself out a window -- if Ryan was this sad about EPSM and he made himself forget it -- I am crying in the club T_T)

finally we get a look at this newspaper article dated Saturday, August 12, 2023, one day after the PH season six finale, which aired on August 11, 2023

I've transcribed the article below as best I could:

the episode ends with Ryan calling Dorothy Ruth to discover she married Elmer and the Professor wishing they could talk to EPSM, but he's dead, and Ryan says "hypothetically, what if we could"

[ROLL CREDITS]

theory: I think the Spirit Box is going to make an appearance (even better if they used Boo Buddy after all Shane has bullied him imo) to try to contact EPSM, and they'll find out he's in Purgatory with all the puppets that have been sent there and they'll finally be able to rescue them!

I do feel like Elmer has to be behind Shane's murder, even if he's not the one who pulled the trigger, but I don't quite know his motive? we've only been shown he wants to marry Dorothy Ruth but how does that involve EPSM?

and Elmer was really only dosing the Professor and Ryan with Phorgedytol, and maybe some of the other Watcher staff? but Shane's murder was in the news and being investigated by the police?? unless Elmer was really trying to cover it up by pushing the pills on all of Los Angeles and that's why they have the billboards all over town ...

fyi, there was a new billboard spotted in the PH s7 poster that Watcher put on IG yesterday that reads "Phorgedytol - Make Brain go 'MMMMBZZT!'"

100 outsiders thoughts in honor of 100 followers!!

this is being started on 2/18/25, when i have 89 followers. so from now until i hit 100, i will be adding random thoughts and headcanons on here that aren’t enough for their own post

also this is fun cause i’m writing this intro when starting this so then i’ll get to go back and see how often i think about what characters (my predictions for most mentioned are paul, darry, marcia, and chet) (also get ready to see 'they're so me coded' and 'this is so me' because i predict that a good majority are going to be projecting)

also i am not rereading these as i add new ones so if there are repeats, im sorry

1. marcia and bob as reflections of each other in cherry’s life because they both want what’s best for her as her bestie/boyfriend respectively but bob wants what’s best for her if it benefits him and marcia wants what’s best for her, no matter what it means for her

2. in my soc age hcs, chet is the youngest but only by like 2 weeks. marcia is just slightly older than him (but the group is very protective of her because they see her as the baby of the group) AND the group will use this against chet. this also pisses chet off so bad because the group will make SO many comments in the few weeks between their birthdays about chet being too young to hang out with them and he’s just there like “HER BIRTHDAY WAS ONLY TWO DAYS AGO”

3. darry, sodapop, and pony but miles, jesse, and winnie from tuck everlasting (like darry being the oldest, pessimistic one while soda is the energetic, adventurous one and then while pony likes darry, he is sooo close to soda and would be besties) (i hope this makes sense) (this is specifically either tuck everlasting book or musical. fuck the movie, they screwed up all the character relationships and dynamics)

4. titanic au where paul is rose and darry is jack (bev would be cal) (because bevpaul lavender marriage hc is so funny to me) (also she would be the best mean girl fiancée) (in the best way)

5. the rumble combos are really funny to me because like you have obvious ones like darry&paul, pony&bob, and then like soda&chet are fun because you have chetsoda and also cherrycola vs cherchet, and then you have two-bit&trip (marcia’s bfs) fighting each other. and then you have melvin&ace (which goes with mel and tilly’s lore) but then you also have sergei&steve and brill&dally like why is steve beefing with this random exchange student? why is brill the one going against dally?

6. in a modern au, bob, chet, trip, and brill had a youtube channel as young teens that was basically them trying to be like dude perfect or like mr beast and they would do those like “crazy internet challenges” (they would also force paul to be in the videos sometimes) (or help record) (he hated it) (they also let melvin and sergei feature on the channel) (they loved it)

7. brill gets a ring from his family for bev to propose (im thinking probably his maternal grandmother’s ring) (but it’s def either one of his grandparents or great grandparents ring)

8. modern brill’s favorite movie is titanic (but only bev and his parents are allowed to know this) (this is fully me projecting because it’s my favorite movie) (added edit later: i fully forgot until a day later when rereading what i've written so far that i already mentioned titanic so that's embarrassing that it came up twice in 8 thoughts)

9. soda and steve but it’s shawn and gus from psych (soda is shawn and steve is gus) (but i’ve heard it both ways) [that is a psych reference] [and my way of saying, i could see it the other way too]

10. soda was one of those kids that thought you couldn’t see him if he wasn’t moving so he used to bother darry so much and the second darry was annoyed, soda would just stand like in the corner like🧍‍♂️and think darry couldn’t see him and didn’t know where he went (darry reluctantly went along and pretended to not know, as insisted by their parents) (they figured the longer they could keep him in their sight instead of having him sneak around to do things, the better)

11. the soc girls all play sims together but in the way that they all have roles. bev is the CAS girly that makes all of their sims and gives them makeovers when they age up. cherry is the builder and she makes all their houses and community lots. and marcia is the one that actually plays with the sims and plays out the storylines they came up with while cherry and bev watch and give input. and you KNOW that they have all the packs

12. marcia is a JOURNELER. like i think she writes generally and does like short stories and poems and stuff but her favorite thing to do is just sit down and journal. and you know she has one of those super pretty, organized aesthetic looking ones

13. cherry is a morning person, marcia is a night owl, and bev is one of those people that seems to be awake 24/7 (and is always tired) (but still doesn’t sleep) 3 am? she hasn’t gone to bed yet. that night at 11 pm? still awake. she doesn’t sleep

14. maggie soc girl is a ‘farm girl’. i don’t know if farm is the right term for it but like, her family has a small ranch where they have like a horse, some goats, and chickens/ducks (this is specifically maggie soc girl as her own character) (not as marcia or bev) (i refer to her as annie)

15. bev definitely has one of those ‘wife whose husband just died’ robes

16. steve is super into unsolved crime cases but only because he’s convinced he could solve them. he’ll ask dally for his opinion and the conversation goes like this: “dal, what do you think of *some police thing that was done*” “i don’t fucking know, why would you ask me? do i look like a cop to you?” “well no but you have experience with cops so i thought maybe you would know”. two-bit then feels bad that dally didn’t help so he tries to help but his advice is along the lines of ‘did they look for clues?’ ‘well if i were them, i would have just arrested the guy’ and ‘they need to figure out who they think did it and then see which one actually did it’

17. ponyboy uses goodreads to keep track of the books he reads and he writes reviews that are like “this book sucked. i loved it. 5 stars” or “this author thought they were so cool when they wrote *quote from book*. they weren’t. 1 star” he is BRUTAL

18. marcia knows how to crochet and she forced chet to let her teach her (they are siblings your honor)

19. pony loves coloring but coloring books stress him out because what if he colors them in the wrong colors? (he's so me coded. i love fandom coloring books but trust that i will be pulling up so many references to make sure everything is correct) also all of his art supplies are reorganized in rainbow order

20. puppet history from watcher but it's soda forcing darry and pony to sit through retellings of the few things he remembers from school (much of his information is wrong) (darry would be ryan in this situation who is beefing with the puppet the whole time and also never gets to win because it is rigged against him)

21. two-bit watches movies in other languages (without subtitles) and INSISTS he knows what is going on and he understands what they're saying (he doesn't)

22. chet LOVES batman (he’s so me coded)

23. chet has like 3 dogs because he’s def a dog person and they’re like big shepherds and labs. but he also has a cat because one. the urge to give him a cat was strong and two. sometimes he needs to lay in bed and cuddle with a little tiny cat and not his 3 big ass dogs that are basically the same size as him and take up his entire bed

24. in a modern au where the curtis brothers are starkid fans, their favs of the hatchetfield series are darry tgwdlm, pony bf, and soda npmd (this came to me because i was thinking about starkid and i was like wow pony would love starkid) (because the obsession is so strong that my brain thinks about these characters at all times)

25. hannah montana au where cherry is miley/hannah, marcia is lily, bev is oliver. paul is jackson. the love triangle with jake and jesse is with soda and chet. pony is rico.

26. paul can play guitar and he uses teaching guitar as a way to show his love (bob, cherry, marcia, and darry can all play a couple of songs on guitar because of this) (and they’re all different songs because paul chooses songs to teach them based off of songs that remind him of them) (he also tried to teach chet once but chet was… not good. paul ended that lesson in less than 10 minutes because he just couldn’t handle it)

27. ponyboy has a favorite pen and is soooo protective over it. like if he’s writing, it has to be with that pen and if someone is like ‘do you have a pen?’ he’s like ‘..well yeah but- be careful with it. don’t lose it. i need it back as soon as possible so be really careful’ and they’re like ‘🤨i just need it to write this one thing?’ (he’s so me coded) (emotional support pen fr)

28. ^he also always has a notebook on him cause he’s like “i need it in case i have an idea for a story or a drawing” but then he never actually writes in the book because every time he has an idea, it’s like when he’s in class or walking or like somewhere where he can’t write his idea down (once again, he’s so me) (my notebook is empty) (i repeat idea in my head repeatedly until i can add it to my phone notes and just hope i don’t forget)

29. steve used to make up random rules for whatever game he was playing with the gang just to make sure ponyboy couldn’t win

30. marcia is a baker and once she starts dating two-bit and becomes friends with the gang, she teaches ponyboy (darry is so jealous because he’s tried teaching ponyboy how to cook and pony always says he doesn’t care but now he’s baking with marcia) (but like in a loving way because he is happy to see ponyboy open up to someone since every thing that has happened and just seeing his baby brother grow up)

31. the college darry was going to go to/started at had the school colors of purple and gold so the madras shirt paul got him of those colors was a congratulations gift for graduation/getting into college. also makes it an extra punch to the face to remind darry of it right before the rumble because not only is it a reminder of what they used to be, whether friends or more, it’s also a reminder of everything darry had to give up because his parents died (i’ve gone into this one a bit before but it was in a reblog to another post so it never got its own post)

32. in every like ‘universe’ of the outsiders (like every iteration and fic and such), it is canon to me that darry and paul have drunkenly made out at least once or twice. even if they never actually date or anything in said universe

33. trip is a photographer (thank you cole zieser)

34. soda, steve, and two-bit get sucked into reality tv shows (but like the shows, not games. ie like the housewives, below deck, married at first sight, love island, etc) and they will get violent and start yelling at the tv. darry tries telling them to calm down and gets rapid fire excuses from all of three of them like “DARRY YOU JUST DONT GET IT YOU DONT UNDERSTAND” (dally sits in the room to ‘watch their reactions’ but he’s actually just watching the shows too) (they do like game show ones too but prefer these)

35. darry and paul used to joke that they were going to have to fight over the title of pony’s biggest supporter once he ‘went big’

36. because of that^, paul was one of the first people to buy a copy of the outsiders once pony published the book because even after everything that happened, he wanted to support pony (imagine these two hcs in the ‘pretty cool’ universe guys) (it’s so sad)

37. pony draws pictures and then let’s soda color them in (he also used to do this with paul where they would each draw pictures and then swap and color them in)

38. darry would freak out when doing group projects if he wasn’t able to choose his own group because he is a slight control freak and would need to make sure he’s with people he knows will do what he needs them to do (inspired by this fuck ass group project i’m doing right now) (i was not allowed to choose my group and i actually fucking hate it) (they keep not doing what they’re supposed to)

39. modern curtis family is one of those families that doesn’t have cable and only has streaming services

40. two-bit definitely lets his younger sister paint his nails (when he starts dating marcia, marcia and his sister paint his nails together)

41. modern pony DEFINITELY has wattpad on his phone but you know it’s buried deep in folders so that none of the gang ever sees it

42. darry’s boss at the roofing company is an old friend of mr curtis so he’s always looking after darry and trying to help out where he can (darry refuses to let this man help) (but if he can sneak in an extra break for darry or a couple extra dollars somewhere, he will be doing it)

43. darry can get overstimulated from noise very easily sometimes. when he’s with the gang, soda and pony are usually pretty good at picking up on when things are too loud for him and making everyone else quiet down. when he used to go to soc parties with paul, paul could always tell and they would leave early whenever it got too loud for him

44. when paul was still friends with darry, he would go out with the curtis family and he would always try to pay (at least for himself) but the curtis parents would never let him. when he realized that they were never going to let him no matter what, he started hiding money around their house so that they would have to take it (the couch cushions? there’s money. book on darry’s shelf? there’s money in between the pages. woah that’s crazy that there’s money on the floor, must’ve fallen out of someone’s pocket wink wink)

45. chet’s parents won’t get him a car so he has to get rides every where with the rest of the group (it’s a common occurrence for him to call one of the guys and be like “youre picking me up, right? right? please”)

46. chet, brill, cherry, and bev all did ballet but at different points in their lives. chet has older sisters that did it so he really wanted to do it as a toddler. his mom was able to convince his dad to let him do it cause she was like ‘let him do it for a year and then he’ll get tired of it and not want to do it anymore’ so he did it when he was like 4 and then had to stop after a year because his dad said it was a girl’s thing. brill did it from like 4-10. his parents were okay with it, they just want him to be happy, but he stopped after boys in his class and their parents started commenting that there must be something wrong with him and his parents for allowing that. he still dances but secretly because all the judgement he got was really upsetting to him. and then there’s cherry who started dancing at like 8 and loved it but then was tired of it by like 10 but kept going until like 13/14 cause it at least gave her something to do outside of her house and also her parents were pressuring her to keep doing it. meanwhile, bev’s mom is a toxic dance mom™️ so she was put in dance as soon as she could be at like age 3 and then danced until like 7 and then did competition dance until she graduates out of it (she loves the dance but hates the pressure her mom and teachers put on her)

47. chet has two older sisters that are now like adults and married and starting their own families but when chet was really young, they used to sneak him into their rooms after their parents went to bed so they could have sleepovers and hang out (i went into this in my family headcanons but their dad hated how close they were cause he was worried chet was going to grow up to be girly and un-manly because of how close he was to his sisters so he wouldn’t let them hang out)

48. modern pony is obsessed with percy jackson (paul has also read all the books and they bond over it) (darry enjoys reading but just can’t get into the percy jackson books so paul sits him down and explains all the series to him so that he can still bond with pony over them without reading them)

49. pony after windrixville having ptsd related to smoke and fire but he also pretty much has a nicotine addiction so he’s constantly struggling with the need to smoke a cigarette and also being afraid to smoke a cigarette

50. “pure as the driven snow” from the hunger games ballad of songbirds and snakes is sooo darry about paul coded. like darry talking about paul being ‘pure’ and ‘seeing the real me (darry)’ and “the world” in the song being tulsa (also the irony of darry calling paul pure when he’s not, just like lucy gray calling coryo pure when he’s not)

51. the curtis gang as a dnd group. pony is the dm, darry plays a wizard, soda plays a bard, two-bit plays a rogue, steve plays a barbarian, ace is a cleric, dally is a fighter, and johnny is a ranger

52. ^if the socs were going to play, paul would be dm. bob plays a barbarian, cherry is a cleric, trip’s a fighter, marcia plays a sorcerer, brill is a paladin, bev is a bard, and chet is a rogue.

53. you guys know those green, yellow, red card things that teachers use with young kids? pony was the type of kid to FREAK OUT if he ever got put down to yellow

54. descendants au where instead of auradon and the isle, it’s paul inviting darry and some of the other greasers to hang out with the football team and socs

55. soda loves winnie the pooh. like two has mickey mouse, soda has winnie the pooh (chet also loves winnie the pooh) (they’re so me coded) (i fucking love winnie the pooh)

56. soda is the type to quote an entire movie while it’s playing and then if anyone acknowledges it, he’ll be like “oh this is actually my first time seeing this movie”

57. modern au! if any of pony’s friends ever have car issues, he just goes “don’t worry i got this” and then pulls out his phone and calls soda (my dad is a mechanic and this is what i do) (one time a light in my friend’s car came on so i called my dad and he went ‘oh yeah, that’s bad, don’t drive it’ and i went ‘..so we can’t take it to the movies?’) (he literally went ‘did you hear anything i said’ but it was the fnaf movie, it was important) (the first time pony does this, they definitely he’s about to fix the car when he’s like oh don’t worry. and then he pulls out his phone instead and they’re like 🥲😐 oh this is your help)

58. academic rivals parry where darry runs against paul for class president ala take the wheel from rise of the pink ladies (darry is jane, paul is buddy, bev is susan) (inspired by that one soc saturday where paul was campaigning for class president)

59. little blue world by jason is so darry. like “it’s a little blue with its big blue sky and all its little little people spending their whole lives asking why” literally darry contemplating everything after their parents deaths

60. when my cat is doing something i don’t want her to do, i just pick her up and put her on her bed (and then she goes back to what she was doing and we repeat this like 3 times until she finally gives up). darry does this with soda and pony. he will just pick them up and put them in a chair/on the couch/in their bed when they’re getting into things and bothering him

61. pony is the most dramatic reader/movie watched ever. he’s gasping and putting a hand over his mouth or on his chest and muttering “i can’t believe it” to himself (if it’s a book and people are like ‘well what happened’ he refuses to explain. he’s just like ‘well you haven’t read the book so you wouldn’t get it’ but that does not stop him from continuing to react out loud just to make them wonder and want to know even more)

62. two-bit is a chronic victim of mobile game ads. he is downloading every single one cause he thinks it looks fun (and it’s always those ads that are actually nothing like the game)

63. i kinda went into this in my fic girl friends but marcia becomes really good friends with ponyboy after the events of canon (she’s good friends with the whole gang) (but her and ponyboy specifically just get along so well)

64. out of the soc boys, brill was the most accepting of having darry hang out with them (besides paul obviously)

65. modern pony sends ESSAYS when he's texting. the group will ask one question and all of a sudden there's 3 paragraphs worth of an answer (it could have been answered in one word)

66. jason’s song simple is so parry coded to me

67. perfectly marvelous from cabaret but it’s two-bit just forcing himself into marcia’s life and marcia acting like it bothers her (i specifically only know that jane horrocks version from the filmed stage production so if this doesn’t fit other versions, my bad)

68. "what the heck i gotta do" from 21 chump street as two-bit trying to convince marcia to go to prom with him (ignoring the rest of the context from the musical. marcia is not naomi. fuck naomi, i hate her)

69. a good girl's guide to murder au where darry is sal, paul is andie, soda is ravi, and cherry is pip

70. darry is the worst to watch movies and shows with because he is so good at predicting what is going to happen. he once spoiled a huge plot twist in pony's favorite show just by guessing it and when pony freaked out, darry was like "well if you really think about it, it's obvious" (10 year old pony was just like okay i guess, fully knowing he would have never figured that out) (this is based off of my mom) (she does this) (she figured out a huge plot twist of my favorite show with 0 knowledge of the show and only having seen that one episode) (she was then not allowed to watch any more episodes of the show with me until i finished the show, and now she can see them when i'm rewatching the show now that i know what will happen)

71. the soc boys took a debate class together. brill was really good at it, paul was good only because he's good with words, bob and chet were good with opening arguments but bad at responding back, trip was just not good at it and was being carried by the other 4

72. marcia did lessons for multiple instruments as a kid/young teen but her teacher was borderline emotionally abusive so she quit (hehehe she's so me coded guys)

73. cherry bites her nails, marcia picks at her nails, both of these drive bev insane because she loves having her nails done and she also will paint their nails and then they end up biting/picking at them and messing them up

74. out of the three disney princesses that existed in the 60s, cherry’s favorite was cinderella, marcia’s was snow white, and bev’s an aurora fan

75. modern cherry (or at least more modern than canon) can sing your fault from into the woods by herself (so can pony but he would never let any one ever find this out)

76. the three soc girls are all fans of american girl dolls but in the way that cherry likes the historical girls, marcia likes the girl of the years, and bev likes the look-a-likes (they all like all of them) (but those are their favs)

77. bevbrill as katniss and peeta (bev who’s more on guard and not trusting of brill at first because she thinks he’s lying about his feelings meanwhile brill is just so in love and would be happy if he could just get to talk to her every day forever, let alone be in love)

78. darry does the stereotypical parent thing where they’re super over dramatic and are white-knuckling the handle when soda or pony are driving

79. dead poet society au where pony is neil and johnny is todd

80. darry and soda both keep in contact with cherry after canon. like while pony is still healing and not ready to talk to her, they keep contact from a distance just to check on her because they see how bad pony is doing and they also know that unlike pony, she’s dealing with this all alone so they just want to keep an eye on her

81. chet is really good at committing to the bit. like someone will lie and he will go with it and you will not be able to tell that he’s lying to you. he could convince one of the other socs of basically anything, even when they know fully well that whatever he’s saying is not true

82. modern two-bit has a letterboxd account where he just reviews any movie with mickey mouse (he gives them all 5 stars of course) (he has a second account where he actually logs all the movies he watches but then he reviews them all “1 star, not enough mickey mouse” regardless of his actual thoughts)

83. epic the musical but it’s brill wanting to get back to bev (he is so in love with her) (like ody and brill would bond so much over just being so in love with their girls)

84. idk by bruce weigner (bruiser) is so darry coded. “i’ve just got to find a way to get out of my mind/craving validation from some people i don’t like/i don’t know them so why im caring so much/i don’t know/i don’t know” like that’s literally teen darry trying to figure out why he cares so much what any of the socs (minus paul) care about him

85. falsettos where it’s marvin darry, whizzer paul, trina soda, and jason pony (in the way that pony prefers soda over darry and is convinced darry hates him and also prefers paul over darry when they’re together and sees him as a friend rather than darry’s bf)

86. bob asked paul for his blessing before asking cherry out (chet later does the same, not knowing bob had done it and paul has to do everything not to break down in front of chet)

87. cherry and darry having a strange friendship dynamic in high school because cherry was always at paul’s parties but she was way younger than everyone else there (like she was a freshman while everyone else were seniors) and darry also felt out of place so they would talk at parties and drink together but they wouldn’t ever really talk outside of that setting because things were still too different between them for it to work at other times

88. child trip gets really competitive about games on the playground (this was inspired by melody saying on soc saturday that cole tends to be aggressive with his tags during soc tag because he gets nervous about it)

89. bev barbie fan, marcia monster high fan, cherry ever after high fan

90. ^speaking of barbie, the girls would have dragged their bfs to see the barbie movie and chet and paul would have been like “wait we have to come we don’t want to get left out” (chet and paul wanted to see the movie so they made excuses to go see it cause they didn’t want to go alone)

91. paul writing out “dar” when addressing darry because it looks like it’s short for darry but it’s actually short for darling (it doesn’t quite work out verbally because they’d be pronounced differently but i would love to say he still does it) (like around their friends and only they know what he’s actually trying to say)

92. you know those kids that ride the electric scooters around school campuses and then just leave them outside the door of the classroom? that’s modern trip (and melvin is so jealous cause he thinks it’s the coolest thing ever)

93. darry loves having his hair played with. if he’s cuddling with paul, paul is playing with his hair. he’s sitting on the couch with his brothers? soda and pony are pushing each other away to get to be the one to play with this hair. as much as they tease him for never greasing his hair anymore, they’re glad he doesn’t so they can play with it easier

94. modern pony would refer to people as “chat”. he walks into the room like “what is up chat” and darry and soda are just staring at him like why do you keep saying that????

95. modern soda laying in his room face down on the bed post breakup with sandy blasting the song sandy from grease from a speaker (darry and pony are desperate to get him to stop, because they want to make him feel better and also because it’s soooo loud and he won’t stop and they’re sick of hearing the song)

96. ace doodles on cards. something about the gang going to play a card game and all the cards having little drawings and messages written on them is so important to me. sometimes johnny and pony join her in doing it

97. post-canon there’s tons of johnny and dally’s stuff all over the curtis house and darry and soda have no idea what to do with it all and they want to let pony decide what to do with it all but he’s not even coherent of any of his surroundings cause he’s so out of it with grief so they just leave it around, waiting for pony to decide (most of it probably ends up in the same closet that all of their parents’ stuff is in)

98. so my dad is really good at drawing and when i told him i want to learn how to draw, his response was “well just draw it” so i’ve decided this is how both paul and pony respond if anyone asks them to teach them how to draw (darry who’s heard it from paul a million times and then hears it from pony once and he’s just like ‘oh no you guys are spending too much time together’)

99. trip is constantly making really bad jokes and the others laugh just to be nice but paul can’t even pretend to laugh so he’s just looking at trip like are you serious (inspired by dan and cole’s ‘beef’ over cole’s adlibs on soc saturdays)

100. my favorite book got mentioned here and my favorite movie got mentioned twice so it’s only right that the last one mentions my favorite show. modern ponyboy would LOVE the show once upon a time. he has a whole ass poster board where he’s writing out the whole family tree and all the connections (guys, if you’ve never seen this show, it’s batshit insane. like the first season is actually phenomenal and then after like mid season 3, they just threw caution to the wind and let embraced the craziness of it and it went soooo downhill but at least it was entertaining) (but pony would eat it up. like what do you mean the main character is co parenting her son with his other mom, who is her step grandmother and the two of them are the most popular non canon ship of the show) (also the musical episode?! all of those songs are on his playlists unironically)

i did it! 100 thoughts! that was actually crazy because it took me so long to get to like 30 even though it felt like i had written so much and i was like whoa this is gonna take forever and then the next 70 went by so fast. i’m writing this outro on march 2nd so it took me just under 2 weeks. i’m currently at 98 followers so we’ll see how long it takes for me to get 2 more (it’s now march 4th when i hit 100!!)

♡ day 7: kenny payne ♡

oh em gee chat one week ! so we're in the final stretch starting with kennyyyy i'm gonna try not to yap too much this time since i went so overboard with devon :,(

so much like devon, kenny has been very special to me since he was introduced.

something that could be said for the whole younger cast is that the writers definitely crammed too many characters into the show halfway through and got stuck with a dozen half-baked characters BUT that doesn't mean they're not still cool, that just means the fandom gets to create personalities for them !

so kenny BEFORE his brainwashing was so cutie, his dr. scribblebottoms cosplay was precious, 100% convinced lia would've loved it if it was really her and not anthony.

one thing i notice a lot with kenny is people comparing him to hawk, and i do think he's a lot like if eli didn't have demetri. hawk gets his villain arc either way but how much would he have been able to take had he not had demetri by his side? how much sooner would he have snapped? that's kind of the answer with kenny.

obviously they aren't perfect parallels, and i personally associate kenny with demetri more, but they work bc this was probably the writers' main intention.

with demetri, eli's kind of content to let him do the talking and at least has someone who he can call a friend. in all the time we saw kenny as a new kid, lia seemed to be the only person that was nice to him (which is meant to parallel daniel obvi but still). and TECHNICALLY, since the writers hate me, demetri and eli were never romantic (i call bullshit but i can pretend to not see chemistry for this purpose) so kenny's only friend is also his crush which makes things all the more complicated in trying to talk to her and spend time with her bc he's nervous ! and flustered ! so he doesn't have that same support system that eli did (what little he had anyway) so it's a lot easier for him to do that 180 instead of the gradual one we saw with hawk. (this is also me rationalizing the speed run of kenny's arc for the sake of getting him in that cobra kai headspace by the end of the season but i digress)

i hope the writers give us more soft kenny moments, like the scenes he had in s6 so far are so cute and i love them. he deserves to be happy, petition for more scenes with shawn, would love for his parents to make one last cameo at the all-valley/sekai taikai

also his relationship with robby is so important to me and i hope we get a moment in this last part where they talk one last time (like i'm hoping for with devon/tory) THE KEENRY KIDS NEED TO HAVE ONE LAST HEART TO HEART WITH THEIR PARENTS

also the fact that he's canonically one of the best fighters (i genuinely think with more time and training, he's going to be the best fighter, even better than the core four) and he wasn't even training that long.

AGAIN LIKE DEMETRI SAID cheap shot notwithstanding, but he's definitely fast and strong. and unlike demetri, he found a way to use his intelligence AND his speed to make him a really strong and incredible fighter that could for sure put up a good fight with any of the main six.

i personally don't love his dark era, it's really good from a character standpoint. like i stated before, he lacks that support system with his dad is serving, shawn is in juvie, his mom (if i remember correctly) is busy with work and obviously under a lot of stress without her oldest son and her husband. and he's the new kid at school that got ruthlessly picked on by anthony and his friends for pretty much no reason other than them being rich little jerks. and he's kind of a wimp, he's goofy, he likes spending his free time on dungeon lord, it made a lot of sense for terry to exploit that and for kenny to turn against robby in s5.

and his relationship with terry in general is so cool like i love that each sensei kind of has a favorite (kreese and silver through more...nefarious intentions) and i love that terry's is kenny bc like i said, the main intention with a lot of these characters is meant to parallel and emulate daniel and johnny. it's always brought back to daniel and johnny, that's like the number one rule of the ck writers room. TERRY exploits KENNY the same way he exploited DANIEL but instead of doing it for revenge on kenny, he does it for revenge on DANIEL. it's so perfect. it's the perfect full-circle moment. and it almost works too. terry, personally, is so truly evil and the fact that he molds kenny (and the other ck kids) into perfect child soldiers while ruining every aspect of daniel's life so he can target daniel and his kids is mind-blowingly wicked. tyring to elevate my hater game to terry silver level fr.

like i hate terry and kreese with a PASSION but lowkey terry did what kreese couldn't, and that deserves to be applauded bc yeah he had those kids not even really questioning things (mainly bc they're background extras) other than tory and devon. and he almost succeeded incredibly but he overlooked one tiny detail, the power of trauma-bonded gay teenagers (samtory, kiaz, and hawkmetri <3) if it weren't for the power of homosexuals the core six, daniel genuinely wouldn't have managed to overcome terry's mind games. johnny, chozen, and mike pushed him, sure, but that final kick at the flagship dojo wouldn't have happened without the kids breaking in and exposing silver. (i have a love-hate relationship with season five for this exact reason like why is it so complicated and evil but so basic? could i have written it better? probably not, but i can still criticize it)

but again personally i love his fighting and his softer moments, i hope we get like an epilogue of kenny and anthony being friends (lowkey ship kenthony too)

also the writers cooked SO HARD giving him the last name payne, they ate with that one little thing !!

!! headcanons !!

bc my fav characters are all the nerds, kenny's gotten a lot of overlap already between demetri, hawk, devon, and anthony; so for more hc, defo go check those lists out !! :3

kenny was obviously really close with his brother growing up; even when shawn made fun of his dorky stuff, he still knew all about it because kenny loved it

kenny doesn't know and never entirely will but a lot (if not all) of his presents when he was little were either bought or informed by shawn, since he knew him the best (robby like kind of knows about this but obviously never tells kenny)

daniel and johnny don't interact much with kenny at first, even after the sekai taikai, but amanda, robby, devon, and hawk keep pushing for him to get more acquainted with the rest of miyagi-do/the senseis and he eventually becomes just as cared for as everyone else

speaking of, amanda has basically adopted him and tory as her pseudo-children. (daniel has sam and robby, johnny has miguel and devon, chozen has hawk, amanda has tory and kenny)

while amanda isn't as big of a presence for kenny as she is for tory (since he still has his parents and his brother), she does frequently check in on him and invite his family to various events (which means so much to kenny's mom) (amanda and kenny's mom being besties, iktr)

he gets a few good months of bonding with hawk before he leaves for college (either he's moving away or he just takes time from the dojo because he's busy) and they both unintentionally help each other work through their complicated relationships with anthony and demetri (the unmentioned understanding of someone being your worst enemy and one of the people you care about most, mhmm)

there is one moment where they're joking around about nerdy stuff and hawk just stops like "dude you're so much like demetri, this is crazy" (meaning they have a lot of the same opinions and ideas on nerd crap) and kenny is personally so offended (hawk and demetri think this is the most hilarious thing ever)

while kenny never really talks to demetri one-on-one (mainly BECAUSE he's embarrassed he was compared to him), the few moments he does get alone with him are spent with demetri unintentionally showing him why mercy and pacifism are a better technique and strategy than force and violence. (these unintentional teachings are due to demetri's constant references to his favorite comics and game characters)

SPEAKING OF DEMETRI, while kenny doesn't seek him out, demetri (likely due to him being neurodivergent) doesn't seem fazed by this and often recommends different comics and games that remind him of kenny (he does this with everyone in the dojo but it makes kenny feel more comfortable in miyagi-do)

robby maintains a normal brotherly type of relationship with kenny and still sometimes talks to shawn (idk as of RIGHT NOW what the writers are gonna have robby do post-grad but whatever he's doing, he's keeping up with the paynes)

honestly, robby is second to shawn who kenny trusts the most. as he gets older, anthony and devon make their way behind robby.

he does develop a good friendship with anthony, hawk, and demetri through their dungeon lord obsession but is a little hesitant for a bit, since he's still a little embarrassed and uncomfortable being that vulnerable and nerdy again. after a while, he notices how dorky demetri is and how anthony and hawk don't judge him for it so he slowly opens up again.

he stays surprisingly close with anthony post-grad (either trauma-bonding, similar interests, or the fact that their moms are friends) and he'd probably even call anthony his best friend once they get to their 20s

gets along with miguel and hawk primarily bc of their music taste (do i mean kendrick lamar? obviously i mean kendrick lamar. but everything else too) (just hc all my favs as kendrick lamar fans bc i can)

PERSONALLY i think he'd win the next all-valley and anthony, like demetri, would be one of the semi-finalists (hawkmetri parallels~)

final thoughts: kenny my beloved, you really should be higher on this list if it weren't for my current obsession with other characters that have more screen time than you. if i'd made this last year, you'd be number three or four bookie. you deserve the world. 10000/10 valid crashout, you have done no wrong (shhh no wrong), and i'm glad you're FINALLY getting the recognition you deserve in miyagi-do, joining the team for one day and immediately propelling them out of elimination, you are the karate king ever. i wish we could get a spin-off of you and see how your skills progress the same way we saw the older kids but alas, this journey has been a long one together and i'm nevertheless proud of where you're signing off 🫡

I'm super interested ( in the middle of a psych rewatch) by what you mean when you say Shawn is actually psychic- could you expand?

I just think he is. Obviously this is not canon, but I’d like it to be (hence I’m writing a whole fic about it). And yes, I know it’s all debatable— just let me have this!!!!

So my reasoning is this:

1. Eidetic memory does not work that way. (I know this is fiction and the rules don’t apply but bear with me.) Usually someone can remember things for a few days max, but Shawn is out here with vivid, interactive memories of childhood. It’s whack. He should not be able to do that.

2. While hyper observant, his skills go far beyond “good at noticing stuff”. Like he can clearly read papers that are several feet away or notice stuff that is exceedingly far away or even hidden.

3. His gut instincts are WILD. I point this out in my fic, but Shawn can be in a crime scene for only a few minutes and find the most important clue. Like he’s so easily drawn to certain things even if they are seemingly unimportant at the beginning of a case. And the way he can just readily put details together and weave narratives with little evidence? My man is not out here making educated guesses, it’s the spirits I swear.

4. He at least has a telepathic mind link with Gus. Their souls are connected and can totally read each other’s minds.

5. Ok ok, hear me out. In the first movie he has a dream about Mary Lightly and they sing Allison Road. THAT RIGHT THERE is so weird. It doesn’t happen at other time in the show where Shawn randomly dreams the answer to a problem like that (I’ll give The Polarizing Express a partial exception, though he is just hearing the TV) and he doesn’t even put it together until the last possible minute. I 100% think that he can talk to the dead. Like maybe he doesn’t know it? But he can and there really are spirits telling him what to do.

6. He is the world’s smartest dumb person and would simply not be aware he is a psychic.

Anyway, I go over all of this in my fic. It’s just one big rationalization.

Damian wayne head cannon, bro is either over dressed or underdressed but always in style. The Wayne's tend to just pick a stugle some times as Dick, Jason ans steph and known for being in tight/short/ skimpy fits with loads of accessories and Bruce, Tim, babs, cas and Duke tend to do a...lot because why show up if it's not to show up? They are beautiful humans and they show off. Damian is from a place where everyone dressed over accessorised.

You can not convince me that the RAs don't walk around with gold/silver/broz/metal and gems apart of every fit.and everyone dose it too just they the main blood line is extra about it something about the wight helps training and you can't go around looking homeless if your a ra. So dami comes with his own gems why thank you and gets more 'anonymously'. It's also a good way to get in his good graces or earn is help or silence(this is abused by the family on 'don't tell xxxx').

So some days you see Damian in this 50 layer kimono because he favourite anime character of the week died or in botty shorts and a crop top (Both with mannny accessories) because he just felt like it.

Mind you he is still wearing heavy jewellery so people do try to rob him. But he is Damain, his rep is of a wild but beautiful dog. He dose bite he also has security detail thanks to his mother and grandfather that only do nothing if they themselves send assassin's to harm him.

He knows everyone knows. They are his old servants and nanny's he acts like it too. Alfred likes the extra help and plays card games with them. One of the mannor floors is dedicated to Damains 'guards'.

Witch leads me to another au.

The nanny's and servants help with house work alot so alf have more time with the family and the family gets to know them as well but they know the servants don't need to awnser to them and it's only because Damain likes them it happens. They are loyal af.

One time burce asked Damain why can't he act like kids his age at the time. The only kids outside of his siblings he knew was the rich brats at school.

This gose wrong fast.

As damaian has them disguise themselves in a mall area and plan for a meeting with one of his classmates who talked bad about his mother one day to come fight.

Damaian had an outing with a 'friend' that day conveniently.

So they met at the mall the kid had like 10 guards all buff and some with guns. Damaian smirked, and like a demon who won a prize, he started cackling.

Brat" why ate you laughing your surrounded "

Somebody was recording in the background BTW. There was even a crowd. When the guards surrounded him he grinned and clapped.

His guards sand up some dropping trays and lifting guns, others lifting knives. All looking at the small crowd of 11.

D: "No you are surrounded"

People in the crowd gasp as more jumps from. The 3rd floor to the 2nd floor some hand off wires with more guns by now even some coming out of the crowd with more weponds totalling to almost 300 men and women.

D"now what was it you said about my mother?being a broke, whore?"

He lifted his hands and grined eith a glint in his eyes.

"Everyone around you is an enemy shawn. You best kneel and beg before me for forgiveness before I have them wiped you off the map."

By this time the crowd was growing and it was on the news all asking who the armed people worked for.

Then they turned red in the center from Sniper aims and it becomes national news it's on NBC and BBC how some wayne kid plans to kill a classmate with 100 men and 40 snipers for being disrespectful to his mother talking about how Bruce is letting his kids use his money.

Then a chopper appears because damain is dramatic he came that way and his family *caough * Dick *caough * made it worst.

His grandfather walks out in all his glory, and it becomes known to the world as it is now world news it has the kids' parents showing up even. That Damian is a part of the Al Gulh royal family, and they came out of hiding because of the disrespect they faced in a school. The parent where bowing a grovelling to spare them. Then talia shows up in her crown princess clothes. It makes RA act even bolder because she often refuses to wear clothes he gives her. She apologized for the mess her son and father cause on international news.

The a chopper came over from the Korean royal family asking who disrespected their family.

Damnian becomes international overnight. His mother and grandfather now have Twitter, and so do the very much hidden in the plane sight empire. While the world want to know what land is, they refuse to talk about it.

And Bruce is pissed he scolds him and then some when he reaches home. Damaian said.

"You said 'why don't I act like other kids' I acted like my classmates are you happy now?"

Bruce sinks in defeat and noe has to make up a story as to hoe he and talia met and now has to fit royal meeting into Damains schedule as the korean[ he didn't know ] side of family also wants turns with him and his siblings if they wish to come. Ras is the same and nobody questions damians linage again.

And all racist comments stop in his presents, his slate wiped clean anyone who offended him where either expelled or conveniently disappeared. Gotham acts like it's an every day thing and now news reporters and other people try to dig into his life more than the other Wayne's forming sort of a protection for them because who cares I'd Jason and Tim had a gun fight in the middle of Gotham (paint gun) all of Gotham didn't care because they too also joined into to the mess.

Damain looks actually too tired to care now because too much is on his plate and he can't get work related injuries else take a leave of absence which last time made international news again, he played off the brused lip as he lost a tooth while reading a book and it fell on his face. Had to get check out infount of t.v to confirm it by at least two nations doctors. All 3 of them did and confirmed the sooth got shook out by something falling on his face. [It was jon. Jon fell on his face].

Damian also has to walk around with food testers and his school released his gardeds once to show off and his private touters [smartest people in the world] showed thier certificates from when he was a child of him being thr smartest kid they have ever thought.

It's not the end of it, Damain now basically sits and eats at galas because who has the standing to talk to him, both good and bad because everyone is watching him and he don't have to talk to them.

Damains clothes become trendy and scrutinised. Because look at this, he is either over dressed or under dressed but never worse dressed and refuses to care about gender or cultural norms. Once, we wore a whole silk gown to a beach, like the after divorce, or just married a rich man type gown with the slit and everything with heavy jewellery, garter belt and that toe chain that ties up to your calves with a parasol.

Even after Jason died, Bruce indirectly called Dick to come join him but at this point his back up personality is too far gone for him to recover.

Dick literally is the reason Bruce stays connects to the batfamily. In a good way.

Man this hits hard. I've never seen how I met your mother but the parallels in the basketball hoop scene and Dick's talk with Bruce are uncanny.

The thing I think is weird about Dick and Bruce's relationship is that it's steeped in insecurities for each other. Dick feels hurt and betrayed and lost as to why Bruce would take in a new robin so suddenly and Bruce's tenure as Dick's robin is riddled with insecurities about him not being a good enough partner.

The difference between Barney and his dad, from what I gather from the clip, is that his dad never acted like one to Barney.

But with Dick and Bruce? Bruce was a good dad to Dick. But he was a terrible partner. Bruce treated Dick like an equal while still fielding reservations about his age and dealing with his own insecurities. Bruce knows that what he's doing is not right but at the same time Dick is far too competent. His intelligence, his athletic skills, his compassion, and his fearlessness were light years beyond anyone Bruce had ever met and Bruce acklnowledges this.

Bruce's biggest problem with Dick is literally that he talks to much.

Dick is equal in every way to Batman and even exceeds him in some ways when he was Robin itself. So Bruce pushes the responsibilities of Batman's partner on to Dick while treating his as his son, mother, therapist, and partner. And Dick steps up to that. Soon they fall into a rhythm where Dick is Bruce's one for all human interaction. So imagine when you have a constant thing with someone that you're comfortable with and they suddenly start holding back from you. They begin talking about how you're too young to handle adult responsibilities. How you shouldn't be facing that burden. Now you're confused. Those responsibilities they are criticizing you for are the very ones that depended on you for. So now you start doubting yourself and trying harder and harder to make them see that you can handle the job. While you're struggling with confusion, they're struggling with guilt.

That is Bruce and Dick's relationship. Bruce grew a conscious after 10 years and Dick can't understand it. So there comes the self-blame and strife.

What Dick doesn't understand his Bruce feels guilty of his over reliance on Dick. Dick's self-blame has come to such a point that now even when Bruce in full honesty rants about how proud he is of Dick, Dick holds reservations because if Bruce was really proud then he would dump all the responsibilities on him right?

It's really messed up.

I think the Dawn of DC does have Dick be the figurehead or at least he will be in the future. We're just getting the beginning now.
