It is interesting, in retrospect, how during and immediately after their encounter with Delilah in episode 77, you can see it actively dawn on Imogen that Delilah is a 24/7 voyeur to everything that happens to/around Laudna, including her relationship with Laudna. Delilah taunts them by saying, "I'm always here" and Imogen whispers to herself, "Always," like this is the first time she's realized it and then immediately starts trying to plan a way, any way, to separate them, including saving the gods from Predathos specifically to call in a favor from one of them. It's such a numb, sudden, harrowing realization. It build perfectly to her admission of disgust when they were in the Fey Realm a couple episodes later

I wish so badly that skypeia wasn't a nauseatingly racist narrative that purports the colonizer's fantasy whitewashed narrative of how they saved "savages" (THEY ACTUALLY USE THAT WORD!!!!!!!!) from themselves. The part where they bring CURES to disease instead of, you know, the intentional spread of it as biological warfare that actually happened, gets me so fucking mad every time. Or when the poor poor guilty old colonizer president feels so bad and tries to give some land back and they refuse because they're too mad. Something that has never ever happened anywhere ever. ITS UNBELIEVABLY CARTOONISHLY RACIST THE WHOLE THING.
Just like the million other offensive caricatures in one piece, they do not end up being as two dimensional as they originally appear, and they and their feelings are taken seriously by the narrative. An effective story that tugs on your heartstrings in it's culmination is eventually crafted, BUT HE HAS TO MAKE YOU SO SO MAD AND UNCOMFORTABLE FIRST. EVERY TIME. WHY.
#you could literally teach a college course on analyzing the bigotry and subversion of it in one piece. THERE IS SO. SO MUCH.#i think usopp is the prime example- as his circle lips design and visual gags are directly reminiscent of historical antiblack caricatures.#yet he is a lovingly crafted complex character that has one of the most heartbreaking and compelling arcs in the series. and in general is#not a stereotype.#the other best examples to me are bon-clay- boa hancock- and lola#im particularly obsessed with lola as she interacts with nami and gifts her something that gives her power much later on.#which is the complete opposite of how their dynamic begins when lola is only shown to be a horrific sexist stereotype that is aggressively#obsessed with a man to the detriment of her relationships with other women.#i LOVE how she has this intentionally unappealing design- tries and fails to be attractive to men- is generally uncomfortable to watch- AND#THEN is shown to be deeply honorable and brave and gives nami plot important friendship.#like. it's so bad. but it's also so good.#ONE PIECE.#my posts#hating oda time#<- for blacklist

I want to preface this post by saying that I love the cat king as a character, especially one that has such a major impact on Edwin and his relationship with his queerness and learning to be okay with it; HOWEVER, I also believe that everyone that genuinely believes he should be a love interest for Edwin should read this. (Also if you just like the cat king as a character and want to understand his character better and why his and Edwin’s relationship is not something that would be healthy or “real” for either)

He likes the game and then he likes the kindness he’s shown despite#Knowing the cruelty he’s presented to Edwin#Queerness and preformance always go hand in hand#He’s a older secretly insecure character#Edwin is the younger#genuinely kind character that shows him that projecting his hurt will never get him what he wants#It’s about the isolation of queerness and the walls put up and the coping mechanism used to protect yourself even at the risk of hurting#Those just like you. That kiss from edwin was to say “I’m sorry your loneliness had caused you to be cruel. this isn’t a new hot take of mine but it still blows my MIND that I’m in the minority in the kyman fandom when it comes to thinking of Kyle as a dom/top and Cartman as a sub/bottom. From what I’ve heard from veteran kymans the fandom barely had ANY sub Cartman truthers in its earlier years, and dom Cartman is still extremely popular to this day. There's so much art/fics where Kyle is like... a pain slut (????) or gagging for Cartman’s giant dick (?????????) but any time I see that stuff I get a visceral, skin-crawling HELL FUCKING NO 😬😬😬 reaction and have to back out immediately.
A mutual once told me something like “I can’t write Cartman as a dom, I think I’d break out in hives or something” and that’s p much exactly how I feel lmao 😆

ultimately something i think i'll just never get over re: the loki series is the fact that the time travel theme afforded so many opportunities to delve into the most core facets of loki's history and character (aka the things that formed the basis of literally every loki plotline and all his ~villainous deeds~) and allow him to finally reckon with that history - loki's jotun heritage, odin's manipulation/emotional abuse of both loki and thor, loki's suicide attempt, everything with thanos - and the creators were just. fundamentally and inexplicably not interested in any of that
#loki#like they would not even *touch* it beyond 'u killed ur mother' and occasional references to asgard/thor#they could've really delved into his dysfunctional family dynamics#we could've watched loki tackle his internalized racism#they could have explored the fact that one year ago loki felt so unloved by his father that he didn't want to fucking LIVE anymore#there could've been even so much as a brief acknowledgement#of his horrific experiences with one of the most evil and powerful beings in the universe#(you know. the situation he got out of literal DAYS before the beginning of this series)#and honestly i don't even mean to say that they didn't do interesting things with loki as a character in the series - they did!#it's just that they could have done so much MORE and it would have been so easy#and i hate that they ignored so much compelling material#and - especially - i hate that we will never get any kind of acknowledgement of any of the wrongs done TO loki#or a genuine exploration of his trauma#suicide mention#loki tv series#loki series negativity#op
