I was grabbing frames from the movie and this one hit me like a ton of bricks because like
Yeah the girls hate the sajas on principle and are worried about the fans because of their souls and yeah sure for sure
But the look on their faces isn't just worry or concern or apprehension, it looks like genuine hurt
Like, it looks like it hurts them that their hitherto loyal fans are switching gears on a dime to stan the Saja Boys. After everything that's happened for at least five years too, it seems like this genuinely pricked their pride and left them feeling rejected.
Especially since this may very well be the first time they've been low key humiliated and ignored on stage, at least in a long time

do i have strong negative feelings towards celine because of the way she raised rumi and trained huntrix and messed them all up? yes. do i understand that she was probably trained the same way and is an immensely complex character? also yes.
y'all ask for complex women and then can't handle them when they come. yes, celine really messed up the girls and that's not something to just be ignored or glazed over. but understanding that there's more to her is so important.

I will fight you guys for Celine!
Every work I read so far on ao3 portrays her as some diabolical figure. Coldblooded and cruel. Willing to hurt Rumi and the girls, or to exploit her in some manner.
Guys
This is not the woman who can hurt her daughter in cold blood
Tumblr media
This is the woman who's mad on grief and fear. This is an absolutely broken woman who have no fucking idea what to do.
Tumblr media
But most importantly, this is the woman who, under any circumstances, will absolutely never lay a finger on Rumi or even point a weapon at her.
Tumblr media
Since the very first day of having Rumi, she understood that this girl could - and probably would - be a problem.
And she is: it's because of Rumi the previous Honmoon was undone
Tumblr media
Honestly, Celine had to do Olympic level mental gymnastics to not just outright kill Rumi. And then she had to justify it to herself everyday since.
This is the woman whose entire purpose in life was to protect Honmoon.
Tumblr media
And now she is watching, seeing as it comes undone. She is being told that it's Rumi's fault. By Rumi herself. And she is told that if she isn't putting an end to it right now, the Honmoon - the barrier maintained by generations upon generations of hunters, herself included - will be gone and demons will flood the Earth. A very literal apocalypse.
And this is still not enough for her to harm Rumi.
This woman loves Rumi so much, that she will rather see the whole world devoured by demons than to let Rumi die.
And she fears it, and she hates herself for it. And she is trying to come up with just about ANYTHING to fix it. Lie to Mira and Zoey, lie to Rumi, lie to hereslf, conceal the patterns, do anything to fix this.
Because killing Rumi is not an option.
Tumblr media
...
I will go further.
If we imagine a scenario, in which Rumi abandoned her human part and became the full demon. Mira and Zoey are trying to stop her.
I am absolutely sure that Celine will shred any reason and will fight Mira and Zoey. She will be crying, she will be begging, she will try to lie to them. Anything.
But she will be fighting, protecting Rumi.
...
And I still think that she is horrible. The way she has been raising Rumi? Everything traumatic and insecure in Rumi? The very shame Jinu exploited?
All of that is Celine's fault.
Her methods towards Rumi were wrong.
But her intentions were not.
#also did everyone just ignore the part where she was repeating the mantra about hiding yourself or w.e the way she said it sounded like#it’s something she’s said to /herself/ repeatedly#I can see it as maybe it’s something she’s being telling herself since first being given care of rumi#and the cognitive dissonance her very existence envokes for celine#but it also could very well be something that is as much a part of the generations of hunters as their weapons#the way mira and zoey mimicked her when talking about rumis voice it seemed like something /theyve/ also been told repeatedly even tho#neither of them have the patterns which makes sense since they clearly had their own things going on and that’s why they fell so easily#after the confrontation with rumi#the first hunters rose up when there were still demons overflowing the earth and (eventually) were the ones to trap them away#but since the demons work on shame and hitting the deepest of your insecurities and everything then I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a#mantra that begun with the first hunters whose world was already overrun by demons#they would /need/ to hide away parts of themselves to keep them from being exploited by the demons#but as time passed and the hom moon held that need would no longer be as prevalent and in fact that stop gap method would become actively#harmful with every generation and that’s why it’s so important that rumi lets that hom moon die because it was one made in desperation#in a world that had never known the peace that rumis had#either way it’s clear that just as much as celine used those words to harm rumi (unintentionally of course but that /is/ what happened)#she also used them to harm herself#though in her mind for both cases of harm I’m sure she viewed as protection as safety#whether it was something she was forced to internalize as a young hunter or something she hid behind as a way to allow her to go against#what would be her duty and raise rumi instead#the va did such an amazing job conveying in that one sentence conveying that this is not only something she’s been telling rumi all these#years but something she’s been drilling into her own for at least as long#and the way she was animated with her body language it looked more like she was saying it for herself more than for rumi#idk it immediately stood out to me when I watched the movie#wish I could think of the actual quote that she was saying so ppl would know explicitly what part I’m talking about because there was a lot#in that scene but I don’t remember and literally just woke up because of cats and decided to check my phone before going back to sleep#since it’s still wayyyy too early to get up so idek how coherent this is in general#but there you go I’m gonna go back to sleep now#celine#kpdh

still thinking about “why do you let them think those things about you, hm? about nicky?” “because the truth is too awful”.
of course agatha would think that. of course she would see the idea that she chose to give up her child for power as less awful than the idea that, despite her best efforts, she was absolutely powerless to save him. no matter how many witches’ magic she stole, no matter how far she ran with him, she couldn’t keep death from finding him. and, in her mind, her love wasn’t enough to get her wife to spare their child.
of course she’d rather be seen as cold-hearted instead of a tragedy.

social media needs to add multiple tiers of blocking someone
I should be able to differentiate between "you seem perfectly nice but I do not enjoy seeing your posts," "you view the world through an ideological framework that I find flawed at best and repellent at worst," and, of course, "I Am Killing You With My Mind"

Just wondering how common it is for your managers to commit fսcking lactation fraud against their employees' families.

The great thing about Gus is that he perfectly oscillates from playing the annoyed straight man to Shawn’s general insanity to yes-anding to an insane degree. For every moment where he says no Shawn, you did not hear that both ways there’s a moment where he, with no prompting, claims that his fictitious grandmother with a broken hip was teaching a line dancing class. For every time he says Shawn, stop messing around at work, there is a time where after Shawn says he’s been “looking at the man in the mirror”, Gus, in a move that never ever fails to make me laugh, with a completely straight face and no impact on the conversation, does the Michael Jackson “he-he”. He’s insane. He thinks he’s normal. He does 11 point turns. He’s a sympathetic crier.

gamers who spam through tutorial instructions or skip cutscenes and then complain that the gameplay is frustratingly unintuitive or that the story sucks are equivalent to those online cooking weirdos where they substitute carrots for chocolate and then complain to the author of the article that the recipe is a failure. bestie perhaps look inwards
