#interview with the vampire#i just found and watched a video on youtube that is a lestat hate and rant about his fans and it was so SO cathartic#i dont even agree with everything said and was naturally at first skeptic of a youtuber's opinion#but finally FINALLY there is a louder voice of someone who can see things about this show from another point of view#even if it's a pov that's more strict than the one i use to analyze media myself#i thought i was going crazy when seeing the fan opinions surrounding this show. mostly out there but sometimes here too#like yeah with how popular loustat is i knew there would be plenty of bias for the angle that flatters it#but the things ive seen lestat & loustat fans say.... the longing for eye bleach was real#but finally someone is there to underline that hey. that very present very intentional racial and power dynamics are in fact very real.#do in fact influence the characters accordingly. and does not come out of thin air or just 'the circumstances'#it's valid to explore the other side of the coin in louis' character of course. but it doesnt mean that it's not there#mind you. all of that shit louis described? is while insisting he was not 'an abused person'#and its so satisfying to see how someone can pass all the bullshit and have the serenity of heart to recognize that#regardless of everything else. there is a reason why louis felt like lestat was a predator and he was being preyed on#that is because he largely was. lestat *was* a vampire on the hunt. an emotional vampire to boost along with the more literal sense#he might disagree to be doing that on a conscious level and he might have clear reasons to have the instincts he does. he still did that#thank you for also calling bullshit on the reunion scene dialogue and parts of the trial in how it was trying to frame certain things#its the main reason why s2 didnt fully work for me. like jesus christ.#that man literally was part of a ploy to murder their daughter. BE SERIOUS. and im supposed to be mad about armand's involvement??#i also felt so seen when he talked about how dickmatized penis delirious to the point of frustration louis is#there is so much to be grateful for. in highlighting the weight of lestat's involvement vs armand's#in talking about louis' family's side of things. expressing how people for some reason love to call armand a mastermind lying manipulator#when the first culprit of that is the blonde bitch??#honestly the irritation i feel towards many of the fans of this show and the major opinions was such#that i was feeling bad just be seeing iwtv content around and i dont wanna feel like that. i like the show so much.#this was soul clearing in a way. even if. again. i dont fully agree with everything#love how its so clear how so many people try to invoke the books when trying to dissuade him from thinking ill of lestat#because thats exactly my experience too LMAO. talk about a weak limpdick argument#and people who try to invoke unreliable narrator are not much better#and the whole story is made up from the writer's head and nothing matters! see i can do this too

Hello everyone, I got some announcements to share and some plans for the future of this blog now that the Grand Fest is over and the news drought begins.
(LONG POST AHEAD!!!!)
I think going forward I'm gonna change how I approach myself acting online and be less "OH MY GOD HOLY SHITENWIOEDISIWIEOE GUYYS!!!"
Because to be honest with you all... I've been feeling very self conscious about the way that I've been acting online and I feel like I gotta channel my passion for Splatoon in a much more healthy and less EXTREMEEEEE way.
I am aware that um.... people have blocked me... and you know, that's to be expected of course when you are online and you're slowly building a following. Still really stings, though, and I think it's due to the fact that sometimes I can be sorta- "This is what happened, and if you disagree with me, you're an idiot and you're wrong!!!!!" When I make posts. And I don't wanna do that, and I don't want to come off as a gatekeeping fan that thinks lower of other people who might not know my stances very well. I wanna educate people and present my stuff as more of "Hey guys, this is what I think actually happened in this event. Feel free to take a look! I think this is really cool and I wonder what you guys think of this perspective that i have?"
And sometimes I can be pretty loud mouthed and stuff and I have talked shit towards certain characters. I remember one time I made a post where I said "what the fuck is wrong with Marie?" And said some stuff... I probably rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with that post... and other posts. I'm so sorry if I have made some of you upset in the past or have said some awful things about your favourite characters in the series...
As you guys probably know, I am passionate about Hypno Callie and I have very strong stances and opinions on her. And that leads to me get a bit... out of control. Callie is my biggest comfort character and to see certain people try and push this vile and disgusting event that happened to her... that she was kidnapped by Octavio and the Octarians when she was alone, and that he brainwashed her and forcibly put the shades on her, or he tricked her and he removed her memories too...
and I try to see the same event in a completely different lens... I see it as more of Octavio manipulating her in a more subtle way and due to Callie's poor mental state and desperation, she heard him out. Octavio used the shades as a way to control her more easily but he doesnt have full direct control over her because her influence helped motivate the Octarians. Octavio still wanted Callie to be... well... Callie. Plus, Callie was more than willing to help the Octarians as well, as she thinks they are cute. I do have evidence to back it up as well as articles and definitions explaining how hypnosis actually works and its limitations.
But this perspective gets compromised and put into question in my head when people keep pushing and pushing and PUSHING the other thing. Then it feels like I have to yell and get mad.... I've seen it as recently as when Blushing Tide came out and I looked at the YouTube comment section on one of the uploads and I just kept seeing people say "oh it's like Tidal Rush but without the brainwashing" or some shit like that idk. I dont remember it well but i know I saw the word floating around. (Don't look at YouTube comment sections. You won't get anything of value from them.)
Anyways, I also wanna cut back on swearing too because sometimes I border on being a hazbin hotel character and I DO NOT want myself to get to that level LMAO!
So what shall I be doing now that Splatoon 3 is officially wrapped up? Well... I wanna do more creative projects and fun stuff like that. I got good reception from my haikus for the Grand Fest and I think doing more stuff like that sounds really really fun!!! And it might actually give me a reason to finish stuff as well lol...
Like I have a God damn Splatoon 2 hero mode finale rewrite that's nearly done and it's been sitting on my Google docs since JULY!!!! I have also made plans to do a fan sequel to the Squid Sisters Stories that takes place in between Splatoon 2 and 3 because that time frame for the Squid Sisters has been barely touched upon. I'm also doing a personal project where it's basically what I want to see out of a Splatoon 4 and I've been really enjoying making that. I dont know if I would ever share it but... it's something to do for me at least.
I also wanna involve myself in the community more, I received an ask where someone said (I forgot who asked I'm so sorry) if I could do a thing where I receive Splatoon OCs and critique them. That sounds really fun!!!
Maybe i can do photo mode competitions or showcases!!! Where I choose a theme (Callie, water, Splatsville, etc) and people submit their photos and I critique them and showcase them to everyone!!! Does that sound like something people would be interested in?! I would love to know as virtual photography is a hobby I love to partake in and I wanna encourage more people to try it!
There is also other stuff i can do like going over the Idols outfits and rating them, but I don't have the motivation to do that at the moment and I know it's not gonna be as in-depth as the one I did for Callie.
Anyhow, that's basically what I have so far. I think im gonna slow down on posting and I'm gonna chill out. Or at least I'll try to chill out.
I've just been feeling incredibly guilty and kinda... sad that I've been acting in a certain way for a while. And I really wanna change that. I dont like making people upset and I don't wanna be the kind of Splatoon fan that puts down others who don't even know any better and don't know who I am....
But enough being sad, I wanna focus on the present and make sure that my future on here is bright!!!

What attracts SKZ at first sight?
🍄For this reading i used the Erotic Fantasy Tarot Deck🍄
*Keep in mind this post is solely for entertainment purposes and does not state facts!
Chan - Page of Swords
His cards were incredibly easy to shuffle and sprung out very quickly and clearly. He def has something that catches his eye instantly and knows it and doesn't mind sharing information, thats something i picked up on in the past as well, he's very open and kinda even wants to share. Physically he likes athlethic looking women, almost with slight masculine look to them (lean muscular legs, lean (not skinny) muscular stomach, he likes a straight athlethic posture and kind of "hard" vibes. Maybe girls that are a little bit snappy and a tiny bit mean, someone that would tease him or roast him a bit. I feel like he likes powerful, dom looking women, i get siren / mommy typa vibe. Like a bit mysterious and scary, and i think he is kinda into someone that gives off toxic vibes at least based on their looks. And he knows it and is proud of it too😂 doesn't disagree. He likes women that wouldnt mind stepping on someone or hurting someones feelings to protect themselves or to get the respect they deserve. I believe this is something he actually wants to do/be himself, but cant allow himself to do so, and thats why he admires it so much on women. Although if a man were to exhibit those qualities i feel he would be annoyed cuz it would trigger him that another man allows himself to do what he cant allow himself. And by saying that im not assuming his sexuality, its just that this specific piece of information came like that. That specific behavior, when exhibited by women is attractive, when exhibited by men it puts him off. That all being said, based on the reading im getting the vibe he leans more towards women, but with a bit of masc qualities.
Leeknow - Page, Knight, 10 of Cups
The deck was quite for a bit and than BAM 3 cards. All continuous cups, shows he is attracted to consistency in the building of the connection. Someone that seems serious. He doesn't have something to catch his eye immediately based on looks or personality wise. He is open to get to know any kind of person if they show genuine interest and are consecutive in their actions. He wants someone reliable in their emotions, someone who is self aware and comfortable with their emotions. Someone mature, that is visible that they have worked on themselves in the past to achieve the level of comfort and understanding they've achieved in themselves. He wants someone he can grow and build with. Contrary to Chan tho, his reading isn't that focused on romantic or sexual interest. The vibe is more platonic. Which also shows me, for him to actually feel attracted to someone in a romantic/spicey way, he has to know that person on a deeper level and possibly be friends for a while first.
Changbin - King of Cups
The deck acted very dense, as if it wanted to stick together and shield itself from spilling anything. He is someone with deep running emotions, hard exterior but very soft and deep on the inside. He has to be conscious of himself not to overspill as this has caused hem feelings of rejection, pain and feeling misunderstood. I believe he has a bit of trauma regarding that. Feeling like too much for most people. I believe he doesn't "choose" based on looks or even personality. He goes by vibe! Even if he has a specific set of features he finds attractive, they don't hold that much weight in actually attracting him. That said, i think he has A LOT of traits, aesthetics and logical/personality traits he looks for/likes in a partner, when the vibe isnt there right away. I would say he is also someone that doesnt really have a set type, even if he thinks he does. He might have a few versions of girls he has in his head that he likes, but in reality those dont mean anything cuz the girls he actually falls for are never coherent with the type he actually has, and girls that would be his perfect type, he doesnt care for them. This is something thats confusing to him and might cause him some distress in his love life as he feels uneasy trusting his gut, and thinks he should stick to what his head thinks he likes. But he's a very hearty, gutty, intuitive person and generally speaking, in life the best decisions he can make always come from his gut and heart, not from his head. Also im getting the very strong vibe he's into women. Overall a very sensitive, deep person, that doesn't want to see or accept his depth and constantly keeps trying to be "normal" or like the "others" when it comes to this specific aspect, hence why he has over-logicalified his idea of a perfect partner. This may be something causing him to constantly choose a partner thats not really fit for him, leading to a love life full of disappointment and honestly trauma. All those ideas and features he has in mind go all out the window, tho, when he actually meets someone thats meant for him and the chemistry begins "torturing" him.
Hyunjin - Ace of Swords
He likes striking, high contrast features, maybe some sharpness in the face or the body as well, probably someone on the taller side who's also pretty slender. Could be of either gender. I believe he likes more of a masculine look, if its for a woman for example someone like keira kneightly or jung hoyeon. Those two just popped into my mind. Someone with a good style, someone who KNOWS THEIR style. Like their hair, maekup, outfits, jewlery, shoes etc, are all picked up for a reason and consciously put together. He likes it when people put thought into their appearance and express themselves through it. He thinks it sends a message that this person is worth it and deems themselves and is of high value, someone that takes good care of themselves. He likes small charmies too. Like if the person has an incredibly unique charming smile. Or if they have a rare unique eye color or shape. If they have exceptionally long hair or an exceptional hair color. If they have their signature earrings or signature scent, or nails or whatever. He likes a classy aura, well put together style, but with something unique that sets that person apart from the others. Something he can remember them by. People like this leave an impression on hyunjin.
Han - Empress & High Priestess
I immediately get the vibe that he likes older women. Women that are wise, have experience and are of a mothery nature. Women that take care of him. This could also apply to men that exhibit those mothery qualities. There's not much else to add here, this leads me to believe that this specific thing is kind of the "boss" and theres not much else that matters when it comes to first impressions regarding attraction.
Felix - 7 of Wands
The deck kept blurting out groups of cards, but then not, but then yes, then another group etc. I feel like his type changes constantly and quickly so he can't really put his finger on what he likes and doesnt like. This is very dependable on the people itself and what experience he has with them. For example he meets a redhead and they hit it off right away, and suddenly his type are redheads. Then after a week he gets bored and then he suddenly doesnt like redheads anymore. Then he starts vibing with a short person, now his types that. A month later they have a fight or something, now he keeps away from short people, yk...his type fluctuates and is HEAVILY influenced by the emotion thats evoked in him during interactions & experiences.
Seungmin - Emperor
Stern looking people. I think he likes tsunderes. People that look cold and stern on the outside and he enjoys the honor of making them smile, making them soft for him later on. He also admires the stability and confidence they excude. He also sees coldness as a sort of power. Like its an ability to choose who enters and who doesnt, and he likes 1. to feel exclusive when he gets in, and he also likes the privacy of being around someone like that or having a partner like that. I want to say he likes the emptinness a relationship like that would bring. Like theres no unneccessary drama, opinions, etc. theres enough empty space for them to be whoever they want and do whatever they want.
I.N - 2 of Pentacles
Thats very random but he really likes bright green eyes. This is a feature that instantly catches his attention and no matter the other features of that person, if they have green eyes they immediately become highly attractive to him, or at least their attractiveness level rises, like from a 3 they're now a 6. He also likes ankles and looks at the shoes, those are things that can impress him. His reading is very different, he has very set things he knows about and almost actively looks for, i feel like he would be someone that has a list of things he looks for in a partner, some things being even as shallow as the type of shoes they like to wear, and he would date a person just solely based on this list of his that he has. And i think he would be pretty happy too😂 like i don't see much emotion, in the sense that he falls in love without him wanting to because that feeling is stronger than him - no, he deliberately chooses who he feels attracted to.

Shall We Dance?
***
“Our suspect has a ballroom dance class tonight. I think that would be a fine time to plan a little encounter,” Hetty said, pausing a beat before turning to face the entire team spread around OPS. “Any takers?”
“I volunteer Kensi and Deeks,” Callen said before anyone else could speak up.
“What kind of ballroom dance?” Deeks asked.
“Uh, they’re currently focusing on the Tango,” Nell answered after consulting her tablet.
Deeks considered the information; it was far from the worst cover ever, even if he’d never danced the Paso Doble in his life. If Eric and Nell could get them into the class, he’d manage.
“I think it’s an excellent idea,” Hetty disagreed. “Miss Blye, Mr. Deeks, please prepare appropriately and plan to be at that class tonight.” With a definitive nod, she walked out.
“Well, this should be good,” Sam commented with a half grin.
“She can’t be serious,” Kensi said. “I am not dancing the Tango with Deeks.”
“Wow, that’s not hurtful, or anything.”
“Who else is going to do it?”
“What about Eric and Nell?”
“I would, but tap dance is more my style.” Eric shrugged apologetically.
As they headed downstairs, Deeks nudged Kensi’s shoulder. “Hey, are you telling me the great Special Agent Blye can’t fake her way through a dance class?”
“Oh.” Kensi huffed, clearly offended. “I can fake it, I’m worried about you. Do you even know Tango steps?”
“I’ve seen “Shall We Dance?”,” Deeks answered glibly.
“Oh my god,” she groaned.
“Come on, you guys had dancing lessons from Hetty a while ago,” Sam reminded them.
“Yes, one lesson. And it was interrupted.”
Deeks tilted his head, confused why Kensi was putting up such a huge fight. He’d understand it if she was outright mocking him, but this seemed different. He noted her crossed arms, her tense spine, and suddenly it struck him: she was nervous.
Hiding this new revelation, Deeks walked to the center of the bullpen, conscious of the others watching with varying levels of interest. He held out his hand invitingly.
“Ok, if you’re so worried about it, let’s practice right now,” he offered.
Kensi tried to laugh it off, looking to Nell, and then Sam for support. Nell just regarded her with an intrigued smile and Sam sighed,
“Just do it and get it over with.”
Reluctantly, Kensi joined him in the middle of room, hesitantly taking his left hand. Her hand slightly clammy in his, and she drew in a couple shallow breaths before settling her other hand on his shoulder in the proper dance hold.
“We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to,” he whispered. If it made her this uncomfortable, he wouldn’t force it.
Kensi tensed, but this time with indignation. “I’m fine,” she hissed back, settling her hand more firmly on his shoulder and leaning into him. Following her cue, he placed his hand on her back, suddenly feeling a little nervous himself.
He’d had exactly three Latin dance lessons in college, but he remembered enough of the basics to get by. Their first few steps were stilted and uncoordinated. After a few more cycles, they found a rhythm.
Leaning into her natural dancing abilities, Kensi followed his lead perfectly, playing into the push and pull, sliding her leg between his feet. He caught her eye and she grinned at him, her earlier anxiousness completely gone.
On the next revolution, he dipped Kensi back, one hand finding a place just below her hip as he supported her in mid-air. Her eyes met his again, the air charged around them, bodies pressed together.
Clearing his throat, Deeks abruptly lifted her back up, suddenly overheated and painfully aware of the silence.
“Ok,” Nell said. “That was…interesting.”
“Would you two like a minute?” Sam asked, a hint of warning and question under the joke.
Kensi hastily stepped away, brushing her hair back from her face. “No, we’re good.”
“Fantastic,” Deeks agreed.
“But we should probably practice a little more. You know, just so we’re ready for tonight.”
More practice might kill, but he nodded along, following Kensi as she made awkward gestures in the general direction of the gym.
It was perfectly normal to feel this way about your partner. Completely normal.

i’m the red flag question anon! i have no intention to start a fight so just tell me if you’ve had enough… (also this has nothing to do with gabi or levi hate, i love them both) i don’t understand your point about art. yes it does engender empathy and understanding, but it doesn’t morally bind us the same way real life does, because it’s fiction. if you play monopoly with friends, do you feel bad about making them go bankrupt? no, it’s fun. characters are the same in my opinion. it’s a game of imagination. you’re allowed to not feel the need to protect a child because no child is actually harmed, and it doesn’t say anything about your empathy or lack of empathy. you’re allowed to dislike a character just because you don’t like their haircut, you don’t even need a better reason than that, it’s fiction, it doesn’t hurt anyone. you can feel empathy and understanding for a character who does bad things because they’re interesting, and it doesn’t mean you want to do the same as they do. you can dislike a character even if they’re kind without disliking kindness. i understand that if people actively hate on gabi or levi and come pour their hate on a blog that doesn’t, it’s rude. but disliking levi isn’t enough to make someone cynical. nobody has an obligation to like him just because he is defined by compassion and kindness. it’s not a moral flaw to dislike a morally good character. i agree that the way we respond to characters says a lot about who we are as people, but i don’t think it’s in a linear way. you don’t respond to characters exactly the same way you would respond to a person. it shows what interests and questions you rather than how you act and what your qualities are as a person
I disagree. Certainly, you can dislike a character for any number of shallow and ultimately meritless reasons. But then the question is, why. Why would someone actively dislike or hate a character for something as shallow as what they look like? I'm not talking about general disinterest or ambivalence, I'm talking about conscious dislike and hate that manifests in negative discourse about that character online. It says something about the person, what the reasons are for their dislike and hate. And when that dislike turns to active aggression against fans, when it leads to the active harassment of people, then it becomes evident to me that it's driven by something deeper than some simple, surface level dislike based on shallow prejudice. If someone is deliberately seeking out fan blogs of a character they supposedly dislike or hate and sending that person hate messages about said character, that goes beyond being "rude" and turns into bullying, which I shouldn't need to explain, if you're bullying someone online and on social media, it's a safe bet to assume you would do the same to people in real life. It speaks volumes about a person's character, that they would harass and actively attempt to antagonize someone for liking a specific character. I've never seen anyone offer a legitimate reason for hating Levi that went beyond the most petty and shallow of reasons, i.e. Levi is now a "cripple", Levi lost in some popularity poll to Eren, what a loser, Levi is short and ugly, etc, etc... These are absurd reasons for hating anyone, and if they're to be taken at face value, speak to a kind of character totally lacking in empathy and compassion. They're attacks based on arbitrary characteristics, and the consistent and constant utilization of them is routinely and obviously employed by certain individuals in an attempt to make fans of Levi miserable and to destroy any chance of actual enjoyment they might find in engaging with the fandom. Most attacks on Levi are disingenuous and only rooted in the desire to make people in real life unhappy. However, if someone is genuinely willing to be so judgmental toward anyone for something so meaningless, fictional or otherwise, if they truly believe what they say, that they find Levi to somehow now be "lesser" because he ended up in a wheelchair, for example, or because he's short, or because he isn't charismatic, etc, etc... if they truly believe that, then I wonder what exactly would recommend them in real life as a good friend or person to want to associate with? So either you have people attacking Levi for things they don't actually hold against him, but like to use as ammunition against his fans with the sole aim of ruining their day and fandom experience, or you have people who genuinely believe it's legitimate to dislike or hate someone based on something as meaningless and arbitrary as their physical appearance or lack of outgoing personality, in which case, you have someone who's clearly deeply prejudiced and shallow in mind, and again, there's nothing to recommend them as a person anyone would want to know or associate with in reality.
And then you have a third option, which is people who, if they genuinely dislike or hate Levi for who he actually is as a character, meaning a character defined by and driven by empathy, then you're dealing with something more malicious still. Someone who is genuinely turned off by and hostile toward a character for being a good person. Someone who dislikes or despises what Levi represents within the narrative of the story itself. And anyone who feels that way about Levi should probably engage in some self-reflection and ask themselves why they're so turned off by and even threatened by a character who only wants to help people. I don't agree with you at all that our responses to fictional characters don't in any way indicate or reflect who we are in real life or how we might treat others in real life. People expose their biases all the time while discussing fictional characters and works of fiction. They expose their inner feelings and subconscious inclinations. If someone thinks it's okay to badmouth Levi for being disabled, chances are, that person is also likely to mistreat a disabled person in real life, consciously or not. If someone thinks it's okay to badmouth or victim blame a character for being abused, then chances are that person will do the same to a real life victim of abuse, again, consciously or not. Oftentimes, these people, while speaking so ill of fictional characters, are completely unaware of how it sounds and what it exposes about themselves, and it's indicative of a general lack of awareness on their part, which is very much a real life character flaw which doubtless spills over into their everyday, actual comportment. Someone so totally lacking in introspection is, generally, a very toxic person to be around. And those sorts of inclinations and prejudices and views, whether you want to admit it or not, can have very real world consequences. How you treat people online can have very real world consequences.
I don't think many Levi haters actually fall under this last category. I think most Levi haters are just assholes who are insecure and take that insecurity out on other people. But it still says plenty about them, that they do. They're okay with harassing other people and trying to ruin their day, simply for liking a certain character that they've deemed unworthy, for whatever inane reason they come up with. It shows them to be absurdly insecure, shallow and petty people. And if their reasoning is actually rooted in truth, and not simply an expression of some shallow prejudice, but an actual, substantial criticism of Levi's character, in particular, if they really believe Levi to be a fundamentally unlikable or repulsive character, based on his core characteristics, then, yes, they prove themselves to be deeply cynical and hateful human beings. Because why the hell would anyone hate Levi for being a good person, if they themselves aren't a bad person?
So either you "hate" Levi, or engage in hateful rhetoric about him because you simply feel insecure about yourself and are threatened by his popularity, because you enjoy making other people unhappy, or because you really are just that stupid and shallow, that you think hating someone for their looks is legit. Or because everything Levi stands for, compassion, kindness, empathy, nonjudgmentalism, grates against your own core characteristics and causes you to rebel against him. In either instance, like I said before, you would have to be an actual asshole to qualify for any of these scenarios.

Despite not enjoying reading Planet Vegeta survives AUs very much, I still end up spending a fair amount of time thinking about what Vegeta would have been like if he’d actually grown up in the role of prince like he was supposed to. Obviously, he would have still been a tyrannical mass murderer except with far less insecurity and trauma, but that’s not really what I find interesting. I’m curious how he would view his role. In the regular timeline where basically every other Saiyan dies, he’s clearly (imo) decided that he needs to embody the absolute ideal for a Saiyan (or at least the version that he’s come up with, which is strongly biased by the fact that he grew up with only one adult Saiyan, was surrounded by people who hate his whole species, and was influenced by Freeza who both enjoyed messing with him and could directly profit if Vegeta was wrong about his own culture. So uh, probably not a particularly accurate version. But that’s a different concept to explore.). I’m not even sure if it was a conscious decision by Vegeta or not now that I think about it. Being very likely to be the last member of his species puts a very strong pressure to live up to or down to the expectations that everyone who met him would have. Beyond that, he’s royalty, and that means he’s supposed to be held to a higher standard, so he’d feel that pressure to leave a final impression even more than Nappa or Raditz. (And they both seem to care about it too, especially Raditz, which is interesting, but I’ll leave that sort of meta to the hardcore Raditz fans since I mostly just care about Raditz for the way he impacts Vegeta and don’t think as strongly about him)
So in contrast to the canon timeline, if Vegeta was growing up in a timeline where there were plenty of other Saiyans, would he feel that same pressure to be exactly what everyone expects of him? He’d have a more accurate picture of those expectations as well. I can’t decide whether or not I think that alternate version of Vegeta would still want to be the perfect Saiyan in quite the same way. Would he chafe against the actual ideal if it wasn’t more or less a framework he formed for himself? Would being able to actually be judged against it make it less appealing? What if some of the ideas about what makes a good Saiyan were things he disagreed with? Or would he still be loyal to his species and do the best he could to be the perfect Saiyan prince and then king, regardless of how high that standard might be or how much he dislikes some of it? He’s certainly canonically willing to subject himself to an impossible standard that causes him and everyone else a lot of problems. But is that only because it’s a standard he constructed himself?
Admittedly, at that level of divergence in experiences between canon Vegeta and a Planet Vegeta lives AU Vegeta, it’s hard to even really call the resulting character Vegeta still (the reason I don’t enjoy Planet Vegeta lives AUs) but I do feel like something about this question has relevance to actual Vegeta’s characterization and motives. Does he care so strongly about being Saiyan only because they’re all dead and therefore he’s forced to represent the whole species whether or not he wants to, and he’s embraced it at this point? Or is it because his father did a good job of instilling pride in him during the brief time they were together (for all the good and ill that his pride has caused)? Is he only so devoted to his “Saiyan pride” because he’s the one who came up with his version and no one else can truly decide how well he’s following it? Or does not having any external validation of how well he’s doing just make his self-imposed (and generally self-destructive) task harder? How much of why he’s so insistent on it is due to Freeza?
Freeza has a line shortly before he starts torturing Vegeta that I think about sometimes, where he basically says that he thought Vegeta was special and better than the other Saiyans. Up to your interpretation of Freeza whether Freeza genuinely believed that Vegeta is special somehow or if he was just doing some particularly cruel emotional manipulation there. Regardless of the intent behind it, if that was the attitude that Freeza was demonstrating most of the time, maybe Vegeta doubled down on being Saiyan because Freeza kept trying to claim he wasn’t like them, and he was able to see the insult. There’s also an alternative interpretation of Vegeta that he was convinced he was better than the rest of his species because of the way Freeza treated him. It’s an extremely good way to isolate him after all. In which case Vegeta only started (I often mentally call it “performing Saiyan pride” but I’m sure there’s a better way to refer to the behavior) after realizing he’d been lied to and manipulated for the majority of his life. So embracing being Saiyan so aggressively is a sort of penance for discrediting his people in the past. Or if he’d been performing Saiyan pride all along, the reveal that Freeza killed the Saiyans just spurred on a more intense performance.
Seeing a version of Vegeta with different pressures on him might give answers to some of these questions I have about why he behaves the way he does (yes it’s because he was never meant to be inspected this closely and he takes the roles he needs to for the sake of the plot, no I do not care I’m taking him seriously anyway), so I end up thinking about that version of him where he knows for sure what it means to be a Saiyan.
#Vegeta#dbz#long post#More or less a long post at least#I also think that how few other Saiyans Vegeta has really met is absolutely part of why he was willing to wait#Three hours to meet Goku like yeah he says he wants to torture him but there’s definitely some curiosity there#He just can’t admit to it because that goes against his idea of what a Saiyan is supposed to be#There’s also definitely still more to explore in why Vegeta performs Saiyan pride so aggressively that wasn’t relevant to an AU where#Vegeta knows a lot of other Saiyans#Like in the canon timeline how much did meeting Goku#Who is not at all like what Vegeta thinks a saiyan should be#Cause Vegeta to double down on his saiyan pride?#I barely even touched the surface of whatever the fuck was up with Vegeta and Freeza because that’s at least another essay#That I tend to leave to people with more qualifications to write

hear me out…. todobaku as villains???
im going to disappoint you anon bc i am not a like... dark & twisted fantasy villain au person. as per quidfree canon what keeps me going is good characterisation and so you will find no undercut tattoo-laden bad boys here.
if you want my two cents on what todobaku villain au would most likely look like though it's under the cut
todoroki:
this one is easy right? touya exists. shouto already has his villain backstory: his dad is a bigshot hero uplifted by society and also an abusive bastard in private. his motivations in hero-oriented society are obvious.
i think shouto probably distinguishes himself from touya in a number of ways, one of which being style of villainy. touya was a lot more unstable emotionally (?tied to his quirk self-harm stuff) and undiscerning in his resentment (see: woman hater) even before he ran away. i think shouto would be a more classic anti-hero type villain, less quick to cause chaos and death to unrelated civilians or high schoolers. they would have an uneasy relationship if and when shouto figured out who dabi was- i think he would retain his empathy for his siblings and mother, but he would disagree with touya’s choices.
i see him as a loner villain, not likely to join the league. early UA shouto appeared to have literally never spoken to another person in ten years, so if he around that age veered off the expected path and went MIA, i think the whole ice prince thing would solidify pretty definitely. and that’s the kind of personality he’d have too- icy, controlled superiority over a core of red-hot rage. no quips here. though some dramatics. he hides it but shouto always has flair.
shouto is a practical guy first and foremost. i think he’d just wear something similar to his plumber fit. maybe something akin to a balaklava to mask his identity, but maybe not, if he wants to make his father aware of his actions. i do think touya-style he might go for a hairdye, but in his case it’d probably be bleach, as a sort of obvious reclaiming of rei’s heritage and rejection of enji’s.
overall as villains go if we are keeping to a world close to canon shouto is probably one of the more morally upright people you will encounter. very scary motherfucker but pretty targeted enemies, so unless you’re involved in maintaining the hero justice system at some pivotal level you’re probably safe. if you are though? rip i guess. prepare to have your home frozen, your limbs stuck to the ground, and an icepick summarily driven through your skull by a teenager.
bakugou
katsuki is tough because for him it very much depends on setting, and at a basic level when you’re looking at. katsuki fundamentally is not a fuck the system guy- he’s a guy the system loves, and he’s interested in winning it, not destroying it, at least until character development kicks his ass. so really if you want to go early canon for both of them, villain bakugou is just hero bakugou. a katsuki from the start of bnha left to continue on his presumed arc uninterrupted, no deku or kidnapping or war to force him to question himself. arrogant and cruel and uncaring of what heroism is meant to be about. saving big numbers, sure, or at least defeating big ones, but when your defeats involve death or as good as, hard to draw the line.
similarly, in a universe where for some reason heroes have lost their relevance and villains reign, teen katsuki would have very easily risen in that direction, with similar traits.
who would his targets be? whoever’s in his way, pretty much. even in a more anti-hero slant, villain’s goons would not be safe. and anyone who tried to recruit / hire / ally him would inevitably face some kind of betrayal bc katsuki simply got sick of orders and believes he can handle the fall-out.
in terms of looks, katsuki is more style conscious than shouto is, but as lord explosion murder doesn’t necessarily look very heroic i think he wouldn’t look that different. maybe more of the black and winter-suit vibes.
for as insufferable as he would be, he would also be horrifying, yes. i mean, the guy is a starter kit terrorist. even if he was in tantrum ego mode he could level a street. collateral would be nasty if katsuki didn’t care to contain himself.
todobaku villain interaction ???
if we’re going with the above sort of setting? would not stand each other. for bakugou it’s obvious stuff (think sports fest and general canon), but todoroki genuinely would not tolerate villain bakugou at all, given the obvious alarm bells of similarity to endeavor. it’s not his focus but if bakugou died he would not be displeased.
as in any universe they could be begrudgingly forced into cooperation and then be privately disgusted by how well they worked together after the initial predictable faux pas. all of their other villain colleagues are like “can’t we just call that guy in for an assist again” and theyre like *breathing exercises* no.
they are both despite appearances and villainy-amplified dramatics fairly pragmatic so theyd probably not actively seek to cross each other unless they seemed to be getting in the way of their respective goals. they can recognise that this would be getting into it w an unnecessarily big distraction/threat. but i can imagine the “keep out of this” warnings would be fairly inventive. todoroki negligently thwarts one of bakugou’s plots and bakugou turns his entire hideout to rubble. a bunch of todoroki’s contacts are collateral during one of bakugou’s attacks and bakugou wakes up to find all of his security died of hypothermia overnight. lest we forget they both have petty streaks.
hero x villain interaction would be. very funny and very bad. hero todoroki would be So Tired of villain bakugou bc of how frustrating it is that hes actually hard to stop and villain bakugou in turn would resent him immensely. hero bakugou dealing w villain todoroki? that would be (psychologically bizarre) fun. i think for some reason that would be the closest we get to a bakugou w ‘doodling hearts against their own volition’ crush energy. but theyd get along a lot better than the reverse, mainly bc hero bakugou is like a decent person and villain todoroki respects moral integrity. in both duos in a lighter setting the villain of the two might start getting a mild kick out of messing w the hero despite their focus on other things just bc 1) it gives villain todoroki the mildest of entertainment to look forward to every blue moon given he doesn’t necessarily wish bakugou any active harm 2) villain bakugou feels he’s owed some todoroki suffering considering how annoying he personally finds him.
that’s my two cents on it anyways. idk what everyone else has in mind!
#qui parle#qui repond#anon#todobaku#tdbk#villain au#katsuki bakugou#shouto todoroki#can someone Please explain to me where those evil deku wearing a bowtie and a smirk hcs came from. i hate that guy#i know where. people just like snarky scary villains. but still. it's the principle of the thing#50

I think Damian would just say "we're getting married" like it's a statement of fact because he knows Raven won't argue or disagree. They're basically the same person so their union was a given. This is just confirming it because Damian wants to prove how deeply his devotion goes and broadcast to everyone that Raven is his and they're always going to do everything together as one.
This is also very believable. Damian just decided one day he’s gonna marry this girl and so he tells her that. He puts the ring on it before she even says yes 😂 but fr I think Raven would be in disbelief bc ofc she’d marry him but my hc is she has this self conscious level of feeling unwanted bc of her upbringing. Being the spawn of Trigon might do that to you. So having Damian commit to her like that, knowing every fiber of his being wants to be with her is just like shocking to her

Hello you! I’m new to your ~lore~ and I noticed you like talking about your characters (which is vvv cute btw!) so I was wondering what are some complications that pretty and Chris face within the relation?? Since she’s human? This is my first werewolf au so bare with me but when I started it I thought “they’re never gonna have sex” bc I thought it’d be too… difficult for the human.. but yeah that’s just a example I also mean non sexual stuff if there is any!! Mwah
warms my heart that you think it's cute and not annoying as hell sidfnsikjdfn i can imagine it might be for some people.
i really do love talking about these things! so much so, i'm gonna have to put a cut here because damn, this got a bit long.
so, here's what i think:
when it comes to complications in a werewolf x human relationship like pretty and chris'... in their case specifically, the mechanics of sex isn't a problem. their bodies are highly compatible. what could potentially be a problem would be chris' supernatural strength. he definitely could hurt pretty if he let's go of himself a bit too much, but i think that on a subconscious level he's so attuned to her it's very unlikely that something like that could happen.
i feel like the biggest problems could come more in the emotional/social department. the pace at which werewolf x werewolf relationships develop isn't the same as it'd be in a werewolf x human one. chris was ready for anything almost as soon as they got together, i'm pretty sure. marriage, mating, puppies, anything. he was absolutely ready to settle down because that's just how werewolves are. 0 chill when it comes to these things. whereas pretty is just a human. we're more complex in that department, i fear.
so at the beginning of their relationship he was probably restraining himself a lot (we've seen it in some drabbles and such. like the mirror one... man was going through it).
then there's also the fact that, as an alpha werewolf (and THE alpha of the pack), there's this unspoken thing that what he says is gospel (even when he tries his best to not fall too much into this dynamic). even though pretty is a member of the pack and is affected by his status to some degree, her being human means there's more mental resistance when it comes to any "order" he might give that she disagrees with. if they don't communicate well, their arguments could be monumental (kinda like what happened in afraid to lose you).
oh, and his possessiveness... that could also get pretty complicated (not to say toxic) if he doesn't make the conscious effort to not let it get the best of him. pretty would also have to learn to understand these things, some times he might get very uncomfortable if she's too close to another male/alpha or he might want her to do things a certain way. just like chris tries his best to be rational, pretty also tries her best to accommodate his instinctual needs (within her boundaries, of course). again, communication is key.
there's probably also the whole societal thing when it comes to a hybrid relationship like this one. some werewolves would probably think chris is crazy for "lowering" his standards like this (their words, not mine!) instead of finding himself a pliant omega to mate with. this is something we know affects pretty to some level, making her insecure that she might not be enough and such. but chris couldn't care less, honestly. that's his prettiest, she's perfect as is.
that's all i can think about right now! feel free to let me know if i'm not making any sense or if i should clarify something further. i tried my best sjkdhfkjsdf

Fictober Day 2
Prompt 2: "Don't worry, I got you."
Fandom: Honkai Star Rail
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Yanqing knew what people said about him and his relationship with General Jing Yuan. His first conscious memory had been of the General teaching him how to hold a sword. He had no memory of his actual parents and Jing Yuan never spoke of them. Of course, Yanqing had never asked either. The man who had raised him was the only parent he needed.
But even at eight years old, he knew what people said about him, about how they disapproved of Jing Yuan taking him in, training him, encouraging him to be the best he could be. He had never shown any reaction to the unkind whispers or the open statements that disagreed with his choice to raise Yanqing. He ignored them for the most part from what Yanqing had seen. The most he had done that the boy witnessed was coolly dismiss the objections that were raised to his face.
It was that defense, the willingness to teach and simply the kindness and care that the general regularly showed Yanqing that made him idolize the man all the more and want to do everything he could to prove the naysayers wrong. He would prove that the only father he remembered had made the right choice in adopting him.
However, the dynamic between had changed once Yanqing had begun training in earnest, when he realized the protests behind his presence in the Seat of Divine Foresight. Before, in his vague shadowy memories of a toddler, he remembered running to Jing Yuan eager to hug and to be carried by him. If he thought hard enough about it, he remembered being held while they both took a nap.
That had all changed now. Yanqing needed to prove that all the efforts and accomplishments he made were his own and not some level of favoritism as rumor suggested. And yet there were times when he yearned for that affection again, wanting to be loved instead of having to stand on his own. It was a weakness he couldn’t allow himself however, not now.
A sharp voice broke him out of his thoughts and away from the wooden practice sword he was with. “It’s the General’s little lap dog. How are you, lapdog?”
Yanqing looked up to see a group of boys just a bit older than him, most of them larger than himself. He tried to remind himself that he needed to pick his battles and picking a fight with bullies was hardly one worthy of what Jing Yuan was teaching him. Instead, he chose to try and be polite. If they didn’t get the reaction maybe they’d just go away, and he could get back to his sword dances. “Can I help you?”
“I doubt it.” Another boy spoke up. “You’d have to run back home to the general like a baby if we asked anything from you.”
Yanqing felt his cheeks flush in embarrassed anger. He might have been small for his age, but he wasn’t a cowardly child to flee.
“You have to wonder what he sees in his lapdog here to spend so much time with him instead of at the Seat of Divine Foresight.” The third smirked. “Maybe he really is going senile.”
That was enough. Yanqing could take insults for himself. Words meant nothing, turned him into nothing they said. But nobody disrespected Jing Yuan in front of him like that. With a snarl, he leapt at the trio to strike with whatever he could, fists, sword, feet, you name it.
In the end, despite his training and ferocity, he was still outnumbered and still smaller than his opponents. He was left to limp his way home after an approaching patrol spooked them. Yanqing had slipped away before the knights could see him and take him home themselves. He was only just holding back tears that threatened to fall, both from the pain of bruises as well as the shame of having lost. He hoped, at least, to compose himself before Jing Yuan saw the miserable shape he was in. He could probably come up with some excuse if he wasn’t on the verge of tears. He wouldn’t cry; he couldn’t. Not now.
Unfortunately, his wishes were unheeded as he pushed the door open to let himself inside the estate. A low voice called out to him and given the concern that laced it, he knew that Jing Yuan had seen him. Looking up, he met the man’s eyes and swallowed. “S-sir.”
Jing Yuan frowned as he stepped closer, leaning down to examine the appearing bruises, the split lip and the beginnings of a black eye. “What happened, Yanqing.” he asked softly.
“I was just tr-training. It’s fine.” The boy answered, swallowing hard and trying to make his voice sound surer than he actually was.
A sigh and a heavy hand gently reached out to cup his chin, turning his face to one side and then the other as the man examined him. “You were in a fight.” He rumbled. “What happened.”
“No, it was just practice. I promise.”
“Don’t lie to me, Yanqing.” A smile touched Jing Yuan’s lips as usual although it didn’t reach his eyes. Instead, there was only concern there. “I’m too old to not recognize the signs. Who did this to you?”
With a sigh, Yanqing finally surrendered. His eyes remained fixed on the ground as he related what had happened although he omitted any names. Aeons forbid that word got out that he was a snitch. “...I’m sorry, sir. I couldn’t beat them.”
Jing Yuan sighed again. “I care little about what public opinion is regarding me. People will say cruel things regardless of how you act, and I have lived long enough to learn that. You’d be wise to learn how to do the same if you want to spare yourself anguish.” He pulled Yanqing forward, enveloping him in an embrace; something he hadn’t done for a while. “Everything I do is for the safety of the Luofu and you.”
The boy fleetingly considered pulling away but, in the end, chose to take the comfort offered, burying his face into his broad chest. Tears stung Yanqing’s eyes, a few managing to leak out and to dampen the shirt of the man who held him.
The rumbling voice was more felt than heard, a promise that meant more to him than anything else at the moment. “I’ve got you, Yanqing. You don’t need to worry. You’ll always have a place with me.”

(1/2) one of my favourite kishimoto asspull moments resulting in fascinating implications is when madara bullshitted a minecraft op command to give himself admin over his own edo tensei. nobody who worked on edo tensei would have been stupid enough to make an extra jutsu that allows a minion to go rogue, so madara made this himself. how? when?
(2/3) the only period of time madara would have been able to access edo tensei research would be before he left konoha. unlikely he would have been able to steal it after leaving. opens a fascinating can of worms of possible scenarios. if madara was spying about it, its unlikely that tobirama wouldnt notice and it would cause a huge fight making madara look more suspicious and contributing to him leaving
(3/4) its also possible that madara openly assisted tobirama working on edo tensei, which initially sounds insane but would fit the weird morbid understanding they have of each other as products of the world in late shippuden. madara would have wanted to work on edo tensei to bring back his family and i think tobirama would have shut him down pretty hard on that idea
(4/4) i disagree on popular fanon that tobirama invented edo tensei to bring back his brothers - it's a suicide bomber technique, not a resurrection technique. i think the prototypes leading up to edo tensei were puppetry techniques trying to create automatons to do the same thing, but rebinding human minds/souls to existing meat framework was easier than inventing AI (ridiculous sentence)
Yeah, I've always thought that the fanon that Tobirama did Edo Tensei for his brothers didn't really fit, in addition to being exceptionally bleak in a way that I don't think most people take into consideration. Since…that means that Tobirama had to make the conscious choice to retrofit an "I miss my little brothers" jutsu to a suicide bomber one!
That's a psychological line that most people would find hard to cross, and though I believe Tobirama in particular is a headcase by even shinobi standards it's hard for me to buy him doing that. His canon actions, after all, are "argue for not being controlled by emotion while very clearly still being controlled by emotion."
I could buy him growing a fascination with death or 'cleaner' methods of killing (as you note, his Edo Tensei design is essentially drone bombers which do not risk additional casualties on his part) because of his brothers' deaths, but I don't think they were ever the same project.
That bit where Madara was like "of course I have admin access for this jutsu!" damn near gave me whiplash. Girl. What. When. Huh?
It does make a certain morbid amount of sense for him to have collabed with Tobirama on Edo Tensei. From the way Tobirama talks about it, he doesn't seem to have properly debuted it in the field. There's a fic in progress to that effect that I'm mad -chinhands- at.
Of course, Edo Tensei drives me nuts coming and going thanks to how game-breakingly good it is. I think it might be the best resurrection technique in all of the fiction that I'm familiar with? No arcane side effects, no degeneration, no eldritch consequences, no horrible sacrifices. The only cleaner technique I'm aware of is the Resurrection of Dungeons and Dragons, which is literally a gameplay mechanic with a questionable level of existence in story.

I recently read a comment where an El/riel said that Az could never end up with Gwyn just because she is an “irrelevant nobody”, while he in one of “the main and most important characters”. And they go on saying things like “she is unworthy of him”, “he deserves someone insanely great” and bla bla bla…
Beside the fact that the whole post sounded pretty, uhm… aggressive and anti-feminist I guess? It made me realise that maybe some people ship Elucien or El/riel because being Elain’s partner means… more “screen time”?
We know that the ACOTAR series follows the journey of the Archeron sisters, and the only one left is Elain, whose journey basically still have to begin and find a properly conclusion. So, it’s logically implied that, as Nesta’s book became a Nessian book, Elain’s one will also become her LI’s ones (but SJM looooves feminism, at least as Rhysand does ;) ).
Sincerely, I’m pretty sure that, deep down in our unconscious, this is the reason why we all stan a ship or another, and I know it’s kinda a cynical though and not so feminist, since it implies Elain being a sort of “prize” for more screen time and more fangirl internal screams (yeah, because we all are fangirl who just want more hot-fae material at the end ahahah).
The point is, if only we were a little more conscious of it, we could understand each other better and, in an idillic word, maybe stop writing insults each other for supporting a ship we don’t like. We are all on the same boat, thirsty for our best men in fictional books, so there’s no point on being mean or writing a poem about how a character sucks for this or that reason, especially if it could only hurt someone else who feels a strong connection with that character…
Sorry for this looong rant ahaha, but I really like your blog. In your post you’re always polite so I though you where the right one to share my cynical vision of the ship war with. 😊
Hello! Just to be clear, the main reason I am posting this is because you were talking about the fandom in general, rather than being a butt about anyone in particular (other than whoever posted about Gwyn being a nobody, RIP because sjm is going to do what she wants with whatever character she wants. Chaol was just an annoying ass royal guard at first, too.)
I do agree with you about screen time. And that yeah, when we get Elain's book, it will not just be hers but also her love interest's book. I kept insisting on calling acosf the Nesta book before it came out, but... idk, I could go either way. We definitely didn't learn as much about Cassian as I think people had hoped to, but Nesta's issues were at the forefront and more pressing, anyway. The narration did follow Cassian at times, and we got to know some of his inner thoughts. So yeah, I assume that whenever we get Elain's book (and whoever else's we are going to get) then the narration will likely follow her love interest and we will get his (let's be real, it won't be a her) inner thoughts, and probably learn a bit more about him.
(This has made me start thinking about perspective and how people are struggling to understand the difference between first and third person and being unreliable, hang on let me grab a drink 😭)
And I definitely agree that if we could just accept that we are generally here for the same reason - obsessed over acotar - then maybe we might possibly, potentially, not be at each other's throats all the time? People just gotta make this their whole personality though, like if someone on the internet, who they will never meet irl and who otherwise has absolutely no bearing on their lives, disagrees with them, then *pearl clutch* omfg call the police their whole identity has now been put into question.
Calm. Down.
The most annoying thing about all of it to me is that it's all over MEN. People shit on Elain and Gwyn for a DUDE. And maybe it's not because of the ship war but people also shit on Mor for a DUDE. How about we just don't?
I'll be out here, doing my level best to tip the scales all by my lonesome by shitting on the dudes for the sake of Elain, and Gwyn, and Mor :)
Okay but back to your point, that people are actually invested in whoever the secondary character is going to be, I can see that. I've seen plenty of people say they don't like Elain, but will read elucien/elriel. It makes me sad tbh. I always see one of sjm's strengths - or at least one of the things I enjoy the most - being that she centers women in her stories. I used to assume that that's something that other readers enjoyed as well, but I guess not. People can like what they want for whatever reasons they want, but some of these discussions make it very, very clear how they feel about women, queer people, and people of color! Even if they won't say it out loud.

Global Warming – or Global Warning?
By Martin Brofman – written in 2010 followed by Philippe Hannetelle´s 2023 article "Global Consciousness and climate change"
Scientists have caught our attention with views from space showing glaciers melting, the polar ice caps getting smaller, dire predictions of what could / might / will happen with slight increases in the temperature of the earth.
We have had a UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December of 2009, attended by world leaders, to discuss the situation and make some decisions. Some say the Conference was a success, while others disagree. Hard to say who is right.
What we do know as a fact is that immediately following this Global Warming Conference, the Northern Hemisphere has been experiencing record snowstorms and cold waves.
How can we make some sense of this?
There has been a lot of talk about a new phase in our planetary evolution, a phase some call the Age of Aquarius, and one of the characteristics of this Age is that we will be functioning more and more as a global family, thinking beyond individual borders, and recognizing that this is a necessity, since we must work together to resolve issues that affect us all.
Some describe this shift in planetary consciousness as a movement from the solar plexus chakra to the heart chakra. The solar plexus chakra is about power, control, and/or freedom, individual interests, while the heart chakra is about relating to others around you.
When an individual goes through this process, he or she makes a deep decision to evolve, and this evolution can be easy or difficult, depending on how they have been functioning at the level of the solar plexus chakra.
If they have been functioning from the point of view of Control, deciding what others should do to satisfy their own individual perceived needs, and they want to move to Acceptance and Relating, they have to go through Letting Go. The more they hold on to control, the more things go out of control, until it might require some kind of shock that obliges them to accept what is, and recognize the importance of mutual concepts of freedom. When they do that, and see things from a new perspective, they can see themselves with compassion and they can understand that all the pain and discomfort they had caused themselves was due to how much they had been holding on to control.
Living the aspect of freedom in the solar plexus chakra makes the transition much more gentle.
We have come out of 2000 years of the solar plexus chakra, with our motivating force being our own primary interests, and now we have begun to think more as a global family. Some parts of the world have advanced more in this direction than others, but anyway, we are on the way. Evolution is, after all, inevitable.
Some say that the Earth has a consciousness, and that it is sensitive to what is happening in relation to the Beings it supports and sustains.
Perhaps, as the result of this Climate Change Conference, people are now more conscious of how they use the planetary resources, and Mother Earth might be responding to this shift, considering that it no longer needs to create dire warnings of What Might Be otherwise.
We have to wait and see if all this cold weather and record snow has had the effect of again building up the glaciers, and the polar ice caps. If so, then perhaps we can consider that this has simply been a Global Warning, letting us face a perceived common threat, in order to motivate us to relate in a way that is different than we did before, more as a global family that understands the importance of communicating and working together for a common good, in a way that works for everybody.
Martin Brofman -2010 ©
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Global Consciousness and climate change
What Martin wrote 13 years ago has since become not just global warming, not just a warning, but a threat to the life of all living beings.
From the point of view where everything begins in our consciousness, we have attracted to ourselves a threat that should and must now make us react. And since our perceptions create our reality, the more people perceive what's happening as a threat, the more that threat manifests itself in physical reality.
When there's a symptom in the physical body, the rest of the body mobilizes to help the disharmonious part, and it's good to support the body's efforts to heal itself by nourishing it with positive thoughts and sending love to that part of the body that needs it.
When our planet began to show symptoms related to human behavior, at first a few voices were raised to increase awareness of our attitude towards living things. On the other hand, there were many who wanted mankind to continue in the same direction without changing a thing, while others preferred to say nothing and bury their heads in the sand.
Now that the symptoms have become visible all over the planet, the majority of people are continuing in the same direction, towards the wall, even if more and more are beginning to feel that something needs to change, but especially others before them.
Our human species, in terms of its behavior, blindly continues to demonstrate its disrespect for living beings and its staggering navel-gazing. How many more tremors will we have to face before each and every one of us, in his or her consciousness, undertakes a profound change?
Weather changes, high temperatures in many places, fires, floods and cyclones stronger than ever before, wars and poverty show us that we need to mobilize together to move in a different direction from the one we're heading for if we continue to see, hear and do nothing.
All this reflects a very strong solar plexus energy, where competition, the will to take power over others, the denial of the rights of many human beings and animals, the sense of separation (me here and others on the outside).
The element linked to the solar plexus chakra is fire, and this chakra is the chakra of the sun. When too much emphasis is placed on a chakra, it is in disharmony, and there is an appearance of symptoms linked to the aspects of consciousness connected to this chakra - in terms of power it can be feeling powerless, giving one's power/freedom to the outside, in terms of control it can be controlling oneself, wanting to control others, feeling separate.
Group consciousness, which is the sum of all individual consciousnesses, is currently out of balance and attracting experiences that reflect its state of consciousness.
The awareness of more and more people, seeing the connection between mind and body and the need for everyone to change their inner and outer behavior, may enable us to change the direction of humanity. Anything can be healed, but for the healing to work, each individual needs to stop navel-gazing and realize that we're living through an extraordinary transformation, and make this transition happen in a gentler way than at present.
It's about making a conscious decision to move into the heart.
What rules the world right now is fear. And the more we focus on resistance, the more we increase it and the more we attract events where fear manifests itself.
Of course, in the absolute, we could change everything right away, but it takes time for everyone to make a choice. Everyone is a creator and has the power to change and help others around them to change. Yet so far, many people want to go back to the old world "where it was better", justifying their way of being and their reflexes.
So yes, it takes courage to look within, to recognize what's not working, to change it, to be honest with ourselves and others, to be generous and to have the will to focus on what we can do, each in our own field, to move towards a better world.
This requires a big change, to stop judging and denigrating others, whoever they may be, and to make a conscious decision to go to your heart chakra, a place where you can see the world with compassion, accepting others, whatever they've done.
You can ask yourself at the end of the day how much time you've spent being compassionate, accepting and feeling unconditional love for yourself and others. And the next day you tell yourself you'll do even better.
In various esoteric philosophies, this moment is also described as a moment when the cosmic pendulum arrives at its final descending point before rising again, and this moment can be a chaotic one depending on the attitude of each individual and therefore of the group consciousness.
Another point of view is explained perfectly in several books, and one in particular "The Yugas". From this point of view, mankind goes through clearly discernable ages, or yugas. Each yuga changes the consciousness of mankind. An as we find ourselves in the ascending Dwapara Yuga, it has begun with the rise of the individual and the long pursuit of personal happiness without regard to its impact on others. Towards the end of the Dwapara Yuga, humanity will learn that the well-being of others is essential to every individual's happiness, and exploitation, iniquity and injustice will gradually come to an end.
The development of mankind is inextricably bound together with the development of every man´s consciousness.
May we each be an example for the others, and help them to see things in another way and take action to materialize another reality.
With love and gratitude,

There's an acquaintance of mine who's conservative, and so there's a lot of reasons I don't really agree with him, but one of the things he tends to say is 'rude'. Any situation where one person is being what he sees as impolite to someone else, he'll call it out as rude. Which is fine and dandy in concept. But his concept of rude is weirdly selective. He won't call it rude if someone is making fun of gay people, for instance, or autistic people. But he will call it rude if someone is saying 'yeah you don't know this guy but he's kind of unironically racist and just a dick for the record'. Which sorta reveals it's not really about rudeness, or politeness, because he doesn't actually oppose those in practice. It almost looks like it's about social exclusion - but he pretty much tries actively to exclude the kind of person he thinks should be excluded from society (gay, autistic, furry, trans). It's completely selective. He'll hang the groups he politically disagrees with out to dry, and he'll act as if any other instance of hostility is uncalled for. I don't even know if it's conscious malice, exactly. You could say he never crosses the line of admitting malicious intent, but I don't think that changes the severity of what he's doing. In his head he's built some kind of barrier between things it's okay to be passively hostile towards - including queer people, autistic people, atheism, furries, and left-wing politics in general - and things that it isn't okay to be hostile about - including racism and sexism. Which ties into a different opinion he has that anyone in that category that should-be-outcasts: -Are morally degenerate (due to a warped understanding of what is okay and/or good) -Do not perceive the world correctly (due to their moral degeneracy/warped worldview) -Are dangerous to listen to because they might convince you their worldview is correct -Have no basis for their beliefs at all (because they didn't actually think about them) -Need to be fixed, but don't think they need to be fixed, so they should be tricked into fixing themselves Which plays into a whole long-term disingenous dynamic of goalpost moving where he'll poke and prod at your beliefs, make you feel bad about them, and complain if you: -assert a belief without proof ('lol why would I believe that') -assert a belief with scientific proof ('academic papers are so biased against conservative views they can't be trusted') -assert a belief with theological proof ('like I would trust a non-theology major to read the bible') -assert a belief with anecdotal proof ('you need a peer-reviewed academic paper to have a sample size that's trustworthy') -assert a belief with abstract moral proof ('it isn't biblical so it's fundamentally the wrong basis') -assert a belief with conceptual logical proof (he isn't reading that) -assert a belief as an unproven but personally meaningful concept (that's unconvincing, so you're wrong and you should feel bad about having your wrong opinion) -expect him to read or remember anything you say; express memory of anything he has said in the past (he's not terminally online like you, go touch grass) -express any failure to remember any detail of anything he has said in the past (lol your memory doesn't even exist, why would he listen to you?) -respond to his comments at all (he wasn't here for a big long conversation...) -fail to respond to his comments (very rude how do you expect communication to even happen here if you don't talk???) Anyway, like, that's how this kind of stuff shows up? People are just people, and over time you realize that some of them are dicks. And you also realize that they think anyone who isn't like them is just. Bad. On an inherent level. And then you realize 'holy crap I need new friends'. End rant?

Eternal entities
Eternal entities, where do they come from? Is there just one (God), or multiple? Are they born, or have they just always been? What sustains them, what is there purpose? What is our purpose?
There are deeper questions to be asked once you get a better understanding of the way things are. In other words, when you can see the world in a logical way, you can then go on to seek answers to questions on a new level. Of course, much of the subject and theories one might arrive at, can only be speculation.
When pondering the characteristics of the source, or if you prefer, God, I first look at what I know. Keep in mind, these are not necessarily facts, only my ideals. They are not even necessary my belief as my mind is open and suspectable to new ideas provided they are sound.
First, I know that God is the source by which life exists and is sustained. In other words, our souls are just a portion of God, or of the source. The source, the essence of the source that is, is simply put, emergy. An endless mass of energy not subject to time or space and acts somewhat mechanically. It's actions dictated by the laws of nature. The need for opposites, mortality and the like.
God is everything, everywhere, always.
In a separate post I touch on the why of all this information, here there is another purpose to remain focused on.
What is God? Why did he create life? Imagine if you have this entity as we just described, but without mortal life. All the power to create infinite anything, just there. Alone.
If your an infinite being you are still subject to one thing. The true God, the laws of nature. This means, for this situation, that there must exist a check, a balance for whatever force exists. God is ultimate power. What could be profound enough to check this type of power? How about not having awareness or consciousness of self? God is an all knowing being but acts only out of necessity and guided by the laws of nature. Why does not matter for the purpose here.
If you can wrap your mind around these ideas, even if you disagree, follow along. What if, the entire spectrum of life in infinite realms, and of God and the nature of this God, everything had a purpose much different than what one might assume initially? What if it's deeper than mankind just being here as a way for God to exist? What if God is an unborn creature still in the womb?
Okay, I understand this seems a bit far fetched but think about this, the creation of birth of an infinite being, if such a thing exists, must be epically profound. So, what if infinity is a type of womb, within it, the energy that is the source. Part of the incubation process is the energy must experience infinite, mortal conscious. Once it does, birth will occur.
Our minds cannot understand a concept beyond infinity, so it's pointless to try really, but one must imagine there to be something beyond our scope of perception.

Movies on Writers and Artists
For the writers and artists. Might update it if I find or remember more...
Little women (2019)
An absolute classic of literature, with Jo March being the prime writer in the film. The film covers the domestic life of five women where they all move into their own directions through the course f the story. They start out being artists and writers amongst themselves and then branch out due to various life circumstances. The people who do move into art successfully are Amy being the painter, Jo being the writer, and Beth being the pianist despite her early death. The movie has a strong message for women that they can endure and do anything they put their minds to.
Something I personally liked in the movie is her writing spree at the end. She was driven, by strong feelings and more. The scenes that added up to her writing were something really inspiring to have the writing flow. It often helps me to write whenever I rewatch the movie.
Kill your Darlings (2013)
The film was based on real writers Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs through their journeys at Columbia University. This film seems like a pinnacle moment that went on to influence their lives during the modern and post-modern eras of literature. Most English Literature degrees around the world cover the Beat movement and Literature by at least one of these writers. In my undergraduate degree we had the poem "Howl" and studied the Beat movement and the spirit it encompassed.
The movie I felt was incredibly inspiring. It hits like a motivational speech, making you want to grab a piece of pen and paper, making you itch to write something and be a part of the history of English Literature. Their stories are something that people would love to call fictional and completely reckless. But they had a point, they made it a point to establish that writing necessarily does not have to be formatted and traditional. They wrote something revolutionary and made sacrifices that were personal. The movie itself stuck a personal chord in me.
Dead Poets Society (1989)
The movie is obviously very old compared to the movies that are easily watched by the majority of the audience. The film, old as it is, is bound to a certain level of ancient traditions and beliefs that may be considered old-fashioned. There was a time when it faced quite a few allegations that it was misogynistic and male chauvinistic. I will not completely disagree, but it does have a spirit that can be enjoyed without being entirely conscious of the offensive remarks that sound mild. The film itself is a story about a group of boys in a boarding school and an inspiring teacher who wants to awaken the humanity in his students while fighting against the norm of monotonous career paths.
The movie is a personal favourite, considering that I came from a family struggling to accept that I was a student of the Humanities. It had a very important lesson that I often want to preach to everyone around me, with the majority of people I know very casually insulting and degrading artists and writers. It is a hard choice of career, and most struggle to achieve a balance in their life while also contributing to the field of Literature. With so many people so close-minded, a person of humanities is often ridiculed for having an open mind despite it being something helpful, rather than not.
Colette (2018)
The film is based on the true story of the writer Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette in France. The woman was talented in more ways than one, and the film itself speaks about her journey as a writer and mostly through her marriage with Henry Gauthier-Villars. The story talks of a harsh relationship where he often forced her to write for him, along with his other faults, while she only endured them and even went along with his schemes to be the power couple they both quickly became.
Something remarkable in the film is her fiery spirit. Kiera Knightly has played her part excellently, not sure how accurate it might be to the actual story. The film moves in a quick fashion, showing her attitude of taking everything for the better and quickly adapting to any situation she is in and making the best out of it. Her rage and her various frustrations, she somehow always channelled into something she can present to the world and profit from it. That itself was what made the movie so memorable to me.
Frida (2002)
This film stars Salma Hayek and many other significant actors of that time. While the film covered the life story of Frida Kahlo, it also shows much about the working of the world around artists and how they are spun into the web of politics. This film spoke a lot about how people are involved in politics or drama, casually.
The artist itself was an enigma to the audience and the world with her indomitable spirit and being a force of nature in her life. She had tragedies in her life since the beginning but they never stopped her from doing what she wanted or from experiencing her life just like any normal person would. Her art, which was discovered relatively late in her lifetime, became a technique and style of its own. The film also shows how her life was full of scandal and much like a cinematic story.
The Guernsey Literary and the Potato Peel Pie Society (2018)
This film was adapted from the book of the same name, based on studies on the German occupation of the island of Guernsey. The story is about the life of a writer Juliet who wrote about an artist in the times of war. While struggling to live in the city after having been a victim of the war herself, she constantly is shown to be out of place in social gatherings. And while a majority of artists in this industry are shown, and even are, introverts, Juliet here is an extrovert who has grown weary of society.
The film moves into the story quickly, showing the residents of the island becoming penpals and acquaintances of Juliet. There she tries to learn more about the effects of the invasion on the people who lived there. But somewhere in between the journey, she finds her home. The movie was truly enlightening on how the writers of different times fared against the tides of the world and made their way in their life.
Crimson Peak (2015)
Also a book adaptation, Crimson Peak is an extraordinary film directed by Guillermo Del Toro and starring Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston. The movie has intense colouring and a very heavy presence of music and dramatic mystery. The film has some gore, and maybe some bad CGI with horror elements. But it is a good watch, and one with something that keeps you curious to keep watching.
It's interesting how this film too shows another writer, the main character, who is the daughter of a self-made businessman in America after the wars. The story moves quickly in the obvious direction of her falling in love with the European man who is looking for investors. But mystery surrounds him and his sister, and her father questions his integrity. The film itself is a visual treat with a strong plot.
Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)
The film, in the beginning, is a pain to watch. It drags and feels pointless, her inner monologue is borderline creepy and feels like so much drama. It surprised me that it was based on a book. But the more you watch the film, the more the pieces fall together. It is a challenging piece of media that expects the audience to have the patience and open mind to completely accept it. Mila Kunis has a very unique role in this, where she keeps switching her personalities.
The film is gripping and sounds so normal in the beginning, but the more we watch the more the false layers fall off. It is one of the slices of life movies based on a true story and strikes a chord among so many people around the world. It speaks of an experience that is so intimate but also something that leaves you so distant and unfeeling for yourself. It surely is an excellent watch. The only thing that anyone needs to watch out for is the assortment of swear words.
Hymn of Death (2018)
The mini-series is based on the stories of real-life artists and writers. The film is made in Korean but has a considerable amount of Japanese in it. The story covers the life of the playwright Woo-Jin and the soprano Shim Deok during the Japanese Occupation of Korea. They both meet in an institution in Japan where they have gone to pursue their studies, which is where they both fall in love.
As with any other situation, their lives get complicated quickly with their personal situations getting entangled and leaving them with some hard choices to make. The series itself has a streak of melancholy throughout while also showing the lives of the artists in that era and the culture. It is interesting to watch how some things exist across cultures and affects people despite their race, age, gender, or the society they live in.
Our Beloved Summer (2021)
This series has an extremely strong bias in my mind for the artist's work that has been put in for the direction. It stars Choi Wooshik who starred in the Oscar-winning film 'Parasite', and the character is nothing like the one he has played before. The story covers the life of the artist before and after ten years, the difference it had in his life and the romance of his high school. It is a specific genre of romance, comedy, and mild drama that is appealing for a comfortable watch.
Their personalities are a treat to watch as they mingle and spar over words. The series shows the flow of life that is easy and fulfilling though it might not always have everything we want. The protagonist is an easy-natured man who has been the same since he was a boy, but it also speaks of the way an artist thinks. It necessarily does not mean all artists are the same, but I was much like him when I was growing up. It is beautiful to watch, so many relationships blossoming through the journey, not devoid of pain and breakups.
