Lupa indeed struggled, she couldnt read or write and speech was limited. So best girl gilga taught her over time. Even though she's well versed now lupa still prefers to only speak when nessesary.

god i am in awe of wolfquest. i love wolfquest. making a pretty-realistic-for-the-time educational game that helped raise a generation of wolf kids and improving and growing it over time and eventually completely remaking the game to have as much realism and features and details they could do now, but couldn't 10 years ago. they added dog packs to lost river dude

Hi! I just wanted to respond to your WWX visual hallucinations post. I experienced visual & auditory hallucinations for a few years/still do very rarely... and for me the problem wasn't that I 100% believed they were real (I usually doubted them to some degree), but that I had 0% faith in my ability to tell when something was real or not.

I was constantly suspicious and paranoid of everything around me & what I was experiencing at all times. When I was with other people I'd look to their reactions to see what they responded to, and if they reacted I'd assume something was real, if they didn't I'd assume it's a hallucination. But when I was alone it was harder to be confident in what was real.

But the problem for a lot of my hallucinations was that it felt like i couldn't risk believing they were a hallucination. If I thought a bus was careening towards me or a creature following me, it felt safer to move out of the way even if I was wrong & it was just a hallucination. If my mom was sitting in the seat she always does talking to me, it felt worse to ignore her... because what if she wasn't a hallucination? What if I start ignoring living people around me who aren't hallucinations? What if the one time i choose wrong I put myself/others into a dangerous situation? How am i supposed to tell the difference?

I assumed it was similar for Wei Wuxian. After being unable to rely on his memory and his own senses for so long, maybe he stopped asking himself 'is this real or not' and started asking 'can i afford to ignore shijie?'. If she or Wen Ning are alive by some miracle and he ignores them or writes them off as hallucinations... it feels devastating. He has less to lose if he just reacts as if they're real. When I was still hallucinating often i tried to train myself to ignore anything other people weren't reacting to, but i ended up getting yelled at or walking into traffic for ignoring friends & family or assuming the street was clear of traffic.

Also... sometimes you really can't tell. Your brain finds a way to hallucinate things that feel extremely urgent and emotionally overwhelming. In the moment it's hard to focus on anything else or think about how you handled it in the past. You need to act or respond or ignore it NOW. But when it's passed, you're in a completely different mental state... and even if you're getting increasingly anxious and paranoid about your own brain & the world around you, it's difficult to remember Exactly how it felt in the moment. At least that's how it usually played out for me personally
