Im not joking when i say this whole post was inspired after seen @//purple-raspberries “the mailman” drawing because O MY STARS WHAT IS THAT DRAWINgGGGGGG /pos

Okay so anyway, whats up with Eddie Dear? As, like, an active character of Welcome Home?

Something rubs me in the wrong way when it comes to him as a whole, not that I dislike him, pretty… much the opposite (thats why I'm making this post) actually, but I feel he is more relevant to the lore than what ppl give him credit for.

Even way before the past-year (2023) Halloween and Homewarming updates, I felt that he must simply be more than what is presented to us about him:

- He is the only character who sees all the rest of the neighbours every day due to his work

- He is one of the few if not the only one who is confirmed to be from outside of Home

- He brings one of the TWO functional clocks in all of Home (which could well be due to the nature of his work, but it doesn't take away from the fact that it's curious)

And I know, ik, this is not a lot. In fact, I believe this is not crucial info, but I want to mention it because it gives, in some way, a certain statement: Eddie Dear is not like everyone else. It differentiates him from the others.

There's simply something intriguing about him; and I constantly think about how, again, he's the resident who interacts most with his neighbors, the most helpful and willing to do anything, and despite that, he's the one who gets the most hits?

Hes always in a rush because he likes helping others, he's clumsy and yet he does his job in a stellar way and yet he goes the more underappreciated by his neighbors and its the first one to get to have his own personal breakdown during the Homewarming

Keep in mind, I don't mean that the other characters are bad or smth, we all know that inside they care for each other and are a pretty nice neighborhood-

But yea, starting with the most obvious, Howdy and Sally are downright condescending, bordering on rude to him. Howdy ignores him or pays half attention when he goes to deliver merchandise to the Bugdega and tries to start a conversation, and despite this, we can see that Howdy asks him for help to deliver things to someone else.

More specifically, during a hidden audio, we can hear that he uses Eddie to deliver an order of bowling balls to Julie DESPITE Howdy having a home delivery system and probably being able to better handle the weight of the merchandise, being at least two heads taller than Eddie, right when Eddie had just told him he had a very tiring day (of course he didn't hear that)

Sally, on her side, is condescending to him to the degree that when we hear them interacting, at least until now, it's mostly her giving him orders. Heck, Sally has a "long name" for every resident EXCEPT Eddie, whom she usually just calls "Mailman" for everything.

Julie and Frank tend to be more passive about it, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they also end up... taking advantage a bit? Or leaving him a bit aside. I know, I know, we all ship FranklyDear here, but it still bothers me how during "Eddie's big lift" (+ another hidden audio) we're shown how Julie tends to involve him in her games without much consideration as to whether Eddie even understands them to begin with, and Frank, despite acknowledging that he works hard and often overworks for everyone, leaves him lying on the ground. They don't even wait for him to get up to say goodbye properly, they just leave him there and go home. It's a bit sad to hear how Eddie talks to himself while getting up and dusting himself off.

And finally, one that I understand is a joke but serves as a transition to my next point: Barnaby and his constant gag of chasing Eddie around the neighborhood as soon as he sees him making his deliveries, or insisting that Eddie lifts him up because “he's just a puppy”. I won't delve into this (not now) because I know that overall that's Barnaby's way of joking; Eddie is not his only victim, but when you mix it with everything said above, it gives off some weird vibes.

It's as if Eddie was the typical "punching bag" character of the show's creators; you know, the one created so that the fun we get from him is at his expense, and sadly, somehow that fact makes sense to me as to why he's the first to have a "breakdown" during Homewarming and said breakdown has to do with, what else? his isolation and probable sadness.

During Sally's history and Poppy's confinement in her own house, there were two predominant themes: what happens when we're in the dark, what lurks in the shadows and whatnot, and isolation: Sally talks about this but Poppy experiences it first hand; shes alone and in the dark, house bricked to the top. However, Eddie gets overwhelmed despite being surrounded by everyone and, clearly, in a lit environment.

My opinion? Said loneliness and darkness don't necessarily need to be tangible, and in Eddie's case, they come from a mental place. My dear doesn't seem to have too much appreciation for himself, constantly letting people get the help they want (need, of course) from him at the cost of his own well-being. Eddie Dear is not happy, in fact, I feel he puts himself down a bit, which equates to darkness, and when he can distract himself from this fact again, Home reminds him; and his loneliness comes in a literal-but-not way. Eddie is never alone, that's evident, but again, in the Homewarming video we're not only emphasized that he's upset and confused because no one has asked him for help, but because he DOESN'T KNOW how to handle his own activities outside of work. Anything that doesn't have to do with the post office but is more personal overwhelms him because he's not used to thinking outside of how he should help others because that's his "only" way of interacting with them. Eddie needs to be needed in order to be closer to others, and when that's not the case, it frustrates him so much that it even seems like anger.

Heck, it's even sad how Sally mentions that nobody bothered him with the usual tasks they would require him for to give him a day off, and then downright nobody interacted with him. Not even Julie called him to play. When Sally finds him under Home's tree, she asks him to escort her to Home for the Homewarming and it's narrated that they're the last to arrive, but if Eddie hadn't left his house then... what? Would he have stayed there? (Lowkey I theorize that he wouldn't have, because of the fact that Sally and Frank seem to have more awareness than the others, I feel like she was actually waiting for him)

Personally, I consider that when it comes to a case like Eddie's, it's even worse, because you don't need to be actively in a closed and dark place, isolated (in what voluntary situation would someone have to be like that?) for your head to go completely to shit. Think about it, you make Home angry and he doesn't need the rest of the neighbors to build a wall around you. It does what you already do well: it locks you up with your thoughts and leaves you there.

So,,, uh, yeah, I don't know how to end this.

☆Why Gregor is so important than you think and the series' relationship with tone

Im obsessed with an old man and I have all reasons to be also I have to sleep but I really need to make a colleague of gregor photos as the header image-

◇Part 1 - How The Tonal Shifts happen to be

Episodes 1 to 3 was all silly fun, though we have the idea that the series is gonna have a progression to having a consistent plot and story since Episode 2 setting up the episode formula of events/segments:

Skid and Pump doing mischief around town, there's separate segments of major characters that they come across and the villain that sets up the plot - who are in concept supposed to be parodies of horror villain stereotypes.

And its all fitting in Pelo's style except its actually understandable and not have characters turn cartoonishly eldritch every 2 seconds.

Yknow we got SM 1 was an average pelo video then SM 2 is where we got the formula, everyone were just trope templates and the one that sets up the lore

SM3 is where things get normal but it's still silly, you can tell by the soundtrack, Moloch's theme is on dubstep it bangs BUT also introduces the Episode ending set up for its next villain.

Then SM4 happened. Oh Deadly Smiles my beloved, still my personal favorite

This where the good shit happens with different segments under 20+ minutes with finally having a grasp on how the episode formula works

Though this episode is kinda.. the chillest one among the episodes???

Everytime Skid and Pump goes around town with Spooky Swings playing, it's always fast paced and they immediatly go to the next in a few seconds but in Deadly Smiles, they take long stops before going to their next location. Most Characters also spend most of if not any of their screentime without Skid and Pump in it. [especially Kevin] it has its own unique tone and its cozy solely for it being winter themed.

Other than the more chill pacing, You got the rabid doll running place to place and getting thrown around to people to people to show what hes suppose to parody that when Dexter actually shows that he can be a threat is a really effective moment and really got me going "Oh shit OH SHIT"

But the scene that truly shaped Spooky Month the way it is now is the scene where he snaps at the kids, that moment is so important to the series because of the sudden change of tone to spooky/silly to scary. We couldn't see Dexter as a threat before this because the tone and plot prevents him to be one especially to poke out the trope of Doll killers but at this moment, the moment he expresses his situation and conditions, he went specific. and from there you don't see Dexter as a simple parody for the sake of being a parody anymore, Especially being a parody based on Chucky --who uses dolls on his advantage-- but For Dexter, below the surface is a man doomed from the circumstances that he desperately wanna get out of.

Episode 5 immediatly tells you its meant be atleast scary from the get-go since it was already established seconds into the episode, and only in the last minute with Lila it left us with an ominous note

Ok to be for real, I consider Episode 5 kinda standard compared to Ep 4 and 6 but is more better than the early 3 eps and I appreciate as the middle ground between Deadly Smiles and Hollow Sorrows. And also more cop screentime my luvs

And mainly the reason why I said this because of Bob. The villains of Spooky Month is always tied with the tone because they are the guys that bring the tension. Bob's kinda monotonic because his behaviour pattern in this episode is repetitive: He slowly approaches people, give them meat fact, dosent or fails to kill them, gets slapped with slapstick. Even at the climax where he's actually at his most effective by being actually terrifying, he still gets disrupted for comedic purposes.

He has a balance of being actually terrifying and being a parody by his slow movement trying to set up tension.

Incomparison to Dexter, yea he gets thrown around but they get to take him seriously at the right moment and being thrown around to different people showing this disadvantage will show you the wide range of what the characters will do with the doll, Bob just scares them throughout the episode.

And I can't be mad about it because Bob purposefully is doing that to distract the cops from the cult case especially thinking he can't die.

But Bob is still effective as a villain. He manages to get you on edge and also opens questions to more lore stuff. And this episode is also the most creepiest because of Bob's behaviour along with that Lila encountering him along with finding out he's in her photo book probably shaped Lila to her behaviour in episode 6.

Still a good ep. Alot of insight of other characters' lives is my main highlight of this ep

Then Episode 6 has Father Gregor finally established as a proper character now that's where the interesting THING starts;

◇Chapter 2: Why is he weird in a weird show

When Father Gregor is on screen, do you feel.. put off especially when he's first introduced into the episode? Like when we were first introduced to doll Dexter with actual spinechilling ost and visuals we were already accustomed to this to be something expected through the Newgrounds endings with its ominous tone, expecting to transition it to the main story especially in with Tender Treats being almost that except more heightened.

But with Gregor, I don't have the exact words to explain the tonal dissonance he gives us. He has a very clear leimotif soundtrack throughout the episode everytime he's on screen even disrupting themes of other characters or locations [like the candy club like what the fuck gregor excuse yourself] that it even turns to a more epic variation of itself with Moloch's exorcism.

since this guy has seconds of screentime on his 1st debut,he's unpredictable especially when each episode has a formula of events with characters that we are familiar off. and we know that there is atleast something goofy going on with them - except for the cops but for them they act silently or accompany moments with the characters - But Gregor dosent accompany character moments he's the goddamn spotlight, the emphasis on his scenes are on HIM like out of nowhere we got this guy coming along. Its kinda of a new breathe of air to have him around because we never got anyone else to come along with the Spookeez all around town and setting up their dynamic with the kids.

Oh and finally we simply state the whole point of Gregor and why he's so out of place -- his seriousness. He was never associated with the series' shenanigans, and questions his surroundings. He dosent enable himself with the series' comedy and at somepoint that it tries to bring him along for a second with the spooky dance. Hes not only unfamiliar in story wise but by environment wise. there was a little analysis essay I made a while back with how Gregor as a person in the setting is off to the townsfolk as they are mostly unfamiliar with Religious figures as the church was newly built, and everybody else never acknowledges his presence as a priest — Kevin and Frank calls him an old guy/man Radford dosent take him seriously because he mostly seen priests through movies, Jack has to ask if Gregor is one and Skid and Pump dosent know how the term father works in the church that even tells something. Only a few characters recognizes his role as a priest being Michelle, John, and Evermore.

Now let's move onto Gregor not following the goddamn script of being part of a parody

Ep 6 has the basics of a parody of exorcism movies: demon - check, priest - check, the victim check that's your main elements, but they never utilises these as.. parodies, because when one of the core elements acts like a normal guy and has a standard behaviour of a priest in those kinds of movies that wasnt exagerrated for the parody and has never been that early into the series to being so associated with the silliness of it making fun of horror. We had time with Moloch since Episode 1, 2 and 3 We witness his time from being just a gimmick character to being one of the mysteries and coming back as a serious threat.. or is he? Because on the 2nd half of the episode, Moloch's running away from Gregor, and attempts to fight back by trying to possess anyone on his way but in the end Moloch is defeated and the kids seeing this breaks their relationship with Gregor. At this point he himself is also an antagonist.

With Gregor breaking the law of parodies, and also breaking the traditional set up of villains for this series, he also differs alot of the standard priest character that he's supposed to be because usually those characters cannot exist outside of being the guy battling the supernatural forces—they are not the main focus. With Gregor, he's more than just an exorcist as for the most part we see him as a normal priest first, exorcist second. he's so determined in his job that any threat given to him makes him more motivated and half of the episode he spends his time teaching the kids to behave.

◇<Gregor and Tension>◇

We already established Gregor as a villain so what else is weird about this bald fuck

From Episode 4 we now get ourselves a consistent line of villains with Dexter being a strong start with the earlier mentioned being the guy responsible for the main story's tonal whiplash

Dexter, Moloch and Bob are villains with their main thing and concept as something terrifying — Dexter's an insane doll, Bob's a cannibal butcher and Moloch's a child eating demon who gives terrible side effects at something he possessed dead or alive.

Horror villains always relied in creating tension to make anyone scared. Dexter creates tension with his uncanny presence as a doll, along with his fast movements contrasting this with Bob, being slow and uses psychological intimidation than being fast, and watches his victims reacting to the situation their put into. Then for Moloch, he is tied with Gregor because how he creates tension is in complimentary with him.

The scary thing about Moloch comes from the ARGs mostly since that's where they build him up as a serious thing to handle in the series after Episode 3, but unfortunately for him as his debut as a serious threat has to be shared with just a dude

OK Moloch's scenes relies on a psychological effect because of his ability to possess people which he possess characters we seen before and are individuals. If you think about Dexter, we saw him killed off for a fucking joke then proceeds to be a threat for a whole episode by the result of his decreasing sanity of being stuck inside a doll. then you realize he's also someone's son. Both got killed by Moloch and used their images as his best attempt to manipulate Gregor which only angers him and makes him more determined to finish him off. Even psychological moves dosent work on him. Now at that point, Moloch lost the hold of the tension's weight. Rather than heightening a terrifying scene like a typical spiritual fight scene, Gregor steals it and heightens it by what made him unnatural since the start – he's constant seriousness that defies the the overall tone that it becomes a keypoint from the episode onwards, making Moloch run away.

Their last confrontation has Gregor on the upper hand with a successful exorcism and a banger of an ost that I still think about to this day, and it was never something to replicate horror. They were no terrific aftermath or a good ending, only the tears of children that comes after it, a dislikeness to the religious figure, and an awareness to how the series' main thing of silliness and chaos was all from an unsupervised kid and a bit carefree mother.

◇Chapter 3: the old man has a hold on the narrative

At the start of Episode 6, We were dismissed with a moment with Skid and Lila, about her situation arranging the house and Skid's Dad with her distracting Skid to go play with Pump. We know somethings off but this was already delivered from the ending of Episode 5.

Gregor states himself at the start as a guide to the children to reflect and be better, but how he delivers this wasn't clear to Skid and Pump and goes around apologising with no single thought other than this being important to their parents. The episode's main point was because of Father Gregor assisting the kids.

then the second that they got the parent thing shoved to their faces is with the cops, also one of the more grounded characters in the series but again they enable the goofiness of the series especially with Jack and his lowkey high kill count- Now that's when the themes of family are very stressed with the whole thing now about to ingrain in Skid and Pump's head.

Now to the scene where Skid and Pump cries for Moloch and now hates Gregor. It's all on him – he leaves without the need of approval but get his message and judgements clear. As he leaves the main cast and onto the church, he's finally at his most vulnerable. the tension spotlight is not on him anymore and has no control of the atmosphere as the Cult comes into the scene.

But what he does have control of was the effect he gave on the kids as his message of apologising and reflecting was the episode's ending note. Not only that, We got the tonal shift to scary, serious to bawling our tears out?? It was implied throughout the episode that the themes of family, especially broken ones are strong and the last scene of Skid apologising and hugging his mom was the perfect completion to build all of that. Not only the tension between Moloch, and Gregor is there the other important thing was the emotional tension.

This signals that Gregor's presence was such an impact that it still lingers, like the piano at the last scene that he's always accompanied with in the soundtrack. in the end it shaped the kids that gives a significant emotional weight into the narrative from now on.

And what do we do now if Skid and Pump finally reflected?? Will things change? Will they not go out and do havoc anymore? Will things lose the general comedic feel to something more serious? We don't know

But it's all really thanks to Father Gregor Raguel.

Conclusion:

Tldr: Gregor is so odd to the show because of how serious he is that it extends to him breaking in series and horror traditions to the fucking narrative of making the series have some emotional weight

While hazbin premise is Intresting I feel it falls flat as the main cast is more on the less redeamable side and deserves to be in hell if you think about it more. As most of them enjoy killing and have killed and alastor Is just a cannibal. They literally had to make heaven more bad to just make the main cast look good.

That's what i hate about Viv's characters and story progressions.

The Best Example is Angel Dust.

Pilot Angel vs Viv's Angel:

Pilot Angel, is careless and crass but he still shows empathy when he realizes he's hurt someone he care about.

When he makes his one off joke about how no one is in the hotel, it makes Charlie sad, and we see Angel get upset by this, he attempts to console her but backs off the last min. Even how he talks to Vaggie feels like they have had prior conversations together, like they know each other.

Viv's Angel, is rude, sexually harasses everyone and has little empathy towards others.

He yells at Husk for just being there for him, [scene before loser baby] then again at Husk AND Vaggie for calling him out on his bullshit. [every scene with husk telling Angel to stop being fake and pushing Angel off of him, and the one scene in ep2 iirc where Vaggie tell angel he has literally never tried to be better and he walks away in self pity]

He definitely pretends to care about Nifty "not ending up in the gutter" She was stealing cleaning supplies, how is that comparable to being SA'd and abused in the workplace? He never apologizes to Husk for harassing him, and even goes so far as to excuse his own behavior towards others cuz "he's struggling".

Charlie is another example,

In the pilot yea she was naive but at least she had common frickin sense. She knew how to trick Alastor into working for her, without making a deal with him, cuz her dad taught her "you don't take shit from other demons". She and Vaggie actually had a dynamic in their relationship rather than Vaggie being an accessory to Charlie. She actually tries to gain understanding.

In Viv's show, Charlie doesnt even understand her own people, let alone how terrible they all are, and yet she wants to save them?? She doesnt understand how her own kingdom even works. Its even more frustrating when you notice that Charlie is literally a Viv self insert, in a way.

-when someone doesnt agree with Charlie, she gets mad and makes them the antagonist

-When someone doesnt agree with Viv, she gets mad and lets her fans harass people

-When someone agrees with Charlie their given this whole moment of "yay you finally agree with me" type scene

-When someone agrees with Viv they get a good ole pat on the back and "the big fucking owl, is fucking watching you, you fuck, don't disappoint me" [big brother is watching you] type comments.

Viv is passive aggressive af and so is Charlie, look at ep4. Angel is obviously upset about having to go to work, but to Charlie she doesnt care, to her Angel just wants to ditch her preschool esque exercises.

Charlie, everyone in your Hotel is an adult, why tf are you treating this like its a preschool babysitting program??

So what does she do, she invades her Angels private life and gets him abused in the process just cuz he's not doing what SHE wants him too. Then gets upset when she's told to leave after wrecking the studio AND GETTING ANGEL ABUSED.

If her Hotel was running by the rules of an actual rehab center, the Hotel would've been shut down and she would've been charged for HIPPA violations.

Honestly Adam is realistically a better person than her own people, for the simple fact the worst thing he does, is be vulgar and sexist. Whereas her people are actual rapists, serial killers and kidnappers, yet she wants these people to be seen as misunderstood.

Like if Viv wanted to critique Christianity, the whole "what's makes a sinner" idea. It would've worked way better if the sinners actually were just decent normal people trying to learn from honest mistake. Not fucking murder, but like shoplifting or something mundane. There needs to be a distinct way of saying "hey these sinners are the ones who are worthy of redemption, we will focus on them in the main plot, while these sinners will be the contrast and unworthy of redemption"

Then make some sinners actual bad people rather than edgy bad. Like yea being a rapist is bad, but there's more terrible things people can do to end up in Hell, that isn't just abuse.

For example, you could have legitimate historically bad people in the show, rather than a cast of random demons, she probably picked from a random demonology site. Or she could have used the opportunity to make modern day problems, like bigotry or extreme fascism, a topic to show for what makes an unredeemable sinner. Someone so stuck in their ways they have no chance of being a good person.

If she wants her adult show be taken seriously by adults, appropriate usage of the adult topics and shows maturity, need to sky rocket.

read: I have a lot of inspirations but I felt like really talking about some of the biggest influences to this blog, mostly people I've known for a while, interact with pretty often, and could write a lot about more naturally. And ultimately 3 major people came to mind..

@sugarish - Vivi is literally always sweet, no matter the day or time, always outwardly level-headed and fun to talk to! She's not just my inspiration for her incredible blog, but just as a general person I really look up to her. The fact just having conversations with her makes me really happy says a lot, and she has always been amazing at comforting and relating, and definitely a writer I adore. Being at a low point in my blog, I remember clearly how much better I felt when Vivi extended her support to me and really made me feel like a person, also playing along with my insanity papa roleplay (that sounds wrong). Her moodboards are always really stylistic, it seems like so much thought is put into each image and each placement. They are literally just so scrumptious and yummy. The uniqueness of the moodboards made by Vivi has definitely affected me and some of the styles of moodboards I have adapted. Thank you Vivi, for taking time to understand and speak to me in a way few others would!

@fairytopea - I feel like vini is just hard to NOT like. She's honest and not afraid to be real, which has helped me develop my own character. She's gorgeous inside and out, and it really shows in the work she posts. Genuinely really perfect, the color matching soothes my brain and I always find myself looking forward to the next fairytopea post. Just how perfectly they blend, it's really everything. I feel she is a role model to many in the community, always offering help and although we joke a lot, we really do admire her. And once you get to know her and know she (probably) won't bite, she's very enjoyable and pleasant to be around. Actually I think the only thing really scary about vini is how talented she is!! Def has been a lot of times I have drew inspiration from Vini's style because of how amazing it is. I reslly love how when I asked Vini for help on various things in the community and she added her own inputs on ideas and asked me, really made me feel special 🌟 Thank you for everything Vini, love being your secretary!

@p-oisn - Chi!! We've known each other for quite the while now, shockingly over a year?? That's kinda crazy, because I knew I wanted to be a huge chi nation member from DAY 1! I don't think I have ever looked at a p-oisn moodboard and not absolutely loved it, and those moodboards have also brought out a lot of my own best work. Chi is actually so genuine and you can tell just how passionately she interacts with everyone. I am so grateful to be her mootie and I will always hype up those masterpiece moodboards. Have you ever met a person who loves seals, who HASNT been super sweet? Yea I haven't. I think if I had to pick one person who has made my "style" what it is now, I owe a lot to chi. vika: not aware or understanding whats going on sometimes. just wants to stay home and live in peace and quiet with saran now that they found each other

saran: overpowered evil but his only weakness is vika. def will go down crumbling by vika smiling or pouting or jsut breathing. was betrayed and killed violently and is out for revenge before he can rest. always protecting and spoiling vika and helping him out a lot. theyre basically married yes

vin: too aware of everything. burdened by duty and his need to prove himself. the only man who believed in him and had all his love and devotion turned and betrayed him by trying to kill him and it wounded him terribly but he has barely time to process and deal with it bc their whole life got turned upside down and everything is happening too fast for him. zydonia def finds some things hes losing his mind over quite funny. vin just wants to go home and back to his old life and the feeling of being useful (willing to ignore how he was just being manipulated and used bc he would rather be used than being discarded)

zydonia: overpowered shameless "evil" that got shackled and jailed. the only reason why no one tried to kill him yet is bc of his unique abilities everyone is greedy and hunting him for all his life. from the outside it looks like he simply causes chaos and mischief to make vin lose his shit but apart from that, he always pushes vin to break free from his own, invisible shackles and help him become stronger and more confident and just himself. they eventually get together when vin finally sees through zydonias act and grows attached to him

(if you would point it out and how hes actually quite an honorable and good man, he would just smile and pretend thats not his motives, hes actually just being an ass. he is the kind of guy who is so used to being hated and everyone thinks bad of, he hides his good sides and motives and paints himself a "good for nothing scumbag with no honor")

also yes hes amused by vins everything but while the others sometimes may push it too far, hes the one who knows when to stop and puts an end to it to save his elven cupcakes nerves. hes protective of him but instead of doing shit for him and helping him, he guides him so vin can learn and improve by himself. theyre so different on so many levels but zydonia always treats him like an equal and doesnt hold back. its what differs him from the man vin had feelings for before

vin is so insecure and doubtful of his abilities and his bad temper and his below average looks and size and just his everything so when zydonia clearly wants him he just thinks hes messing with him until he finally learns to understand the dragon and how serious he is beneath his shameless and silly mask; when he is spouting bullshit and lies and when he is telling the truth. zydonia believes in him and vin learns to trust again

SORRY FOR BABBLING. anyway yea this story isnt as serious as amygdala but it isnt jsut silly goofy crack either. when i wrote/drew it years ago, i was a little influenced by hxh and gintama, so basically its similar in the way of lulling you, starting off lighthearted or silly and then getting srs. each member of the group has a troubled past or present and they find peace and acceptance within each other. they learn to deal with their demons, how its okay to rely on others, that youre not alone in this world. theres loss, theres betrayal, theres tears and theres zydonia driving vin up the wall bc he breathed too loud

Throwing ideas on the internet again

Since pizza tower's artstyle is inspired by the cartoons of the 90's I thought it would be funny to come up with some ehh... things? for the "Pizza Tower cartoon"

• Peppino has to make pizza with ghost pepper so he has to die(tm) to get the ingredient meanwhile the Noise tries to annoy Peppino's dead body (he thinks he's just sleeping or smth). And yes, the customers that ordered ghost pepper pizza are ghosts. Maybe even Peppermans dead parents because ha ha pepper.

• "it's summer and its hot" episode where Peppino got air conditioner so a lot of people around visit his pizzeria because he has the only one in miles. Peppino is happy at first because yay, customers, but quickly realises that nobody is ordering pizza so he tries to get people to order food and hijinks ensue. (Bonus joke is that Peppino accidentally almost made a pizza out of Vigilante because he's cheese and he melted)

• Peppino's oven breaks so he has to find a new one. The word gets out and a lot of characters offer their help but in reality they just want to mess with him:

-Peppermen's oven only makes pepper pizza in the shape of Pepperman's face no matter what ingredients you put in

-Vigilante's oven works on gunpowder and bakes stuff with explosions. Peppino wasn't a fan of this to say the least

-Noisette gives him a seemingly normal oven but with bizarre modifications. Like the chocolate dispenser, an iron inside "in case your pizza isn't flat enough" ect. The Noise later comes angry at Noisette for helping his rival but once he sees the oven she gave Peppino he kisses her instead

-Fake Peppino gives him a perfect oven. Suspiciously too perfect. Peppino is ready for something to go wrong but loses his patience because "I don't have time to figure out what's wrong with this!" But in the end Fake's oven is really just a good normal oven and Fake genuinely wanted to help.

• Obligatory body swap episode. But the thing is Peppino swaps bodies with Brick. Somehow. Peppino in Bricks body tries to get help from anybody, but everyone just hear rats squeaks from him because yea, rat. So he tries to get Brick in his body to actually look after the pizzeria while he goes out to find the solution. But Brick is also Gustavo's pet/friend so Peppino has to actually pretend to be a rat and his anxious ass stresses so much about "being a rat in a correct way" . In the end Peppino actually relaxes a little but also realizes that Gustavo understands him (because after he met Brick he learnt rat language) and had the "cure" for the situation for a while (he realised that Peppino was in Bricks body and just thought that he had to relax a little, even if like that). In the end, they go back to the pizzeria to swap bodies again and realize that Brick was actually great chef and made Peppino's pizzeria much more successful in one day.

• I have no idea for the plot but imagine Vigilante-centric episode named "the cheese of truth"

• Peppino didn't pay his rent so mr. Stick finds him a sponsor/investor. It's Pepperman. Of course Pepperman uses his privileges to completely redesign Peppino's pizza in his own image. In the end Peppino is so fed up with Pepperman that he actually quits. Without chef however, the new "Pepperman's pizza" loses customers and this time Pepperman misses the rent so he goes back to Peppino asking him to take back the pizzeria. But Peppino is also broke. But fear not, because mr. Stick found another sponsor! The Noise.

He would also suggest doing something to either help you or take your mind off of it

He would probably something that doesn't sound very encouraging from an outside perspective, but if you know him you know how much it really means.

Kageyama was walking you home today since he had a rest day from practice. It was quiet as the two of you walked, only hearing the sound of cicadas while the sun set over the neighboring building. Usually, the quiet would be comforting, but it wasn't tonight. You were stewing on the grade you had gotten on your exam. You felt like you studied for so long, but still got a C.

The black haired boy looked at you, "What's wrong?"

You jumped as the silence was broken and shook your head once you processed his words, "Nothings wrong, I'm just in my head."

"Usually when you say you're in your head, that means that you're overthinking something, so what is it?"

You sighed, "I really don't think you would understand it, Kageyama."

He huffed, "Well how about you just tell me and we see?"

"Fine." You sighed again, "I didn't score well on my exam today even though I studied so hard for it, so I'm kind of upset about it."

Kageayam nodded, "That's perfectly relatable. I think everyone goes through that. I mean, during the training camp in Tokyo I couldn't get the set for Hinata right, so I actually know exactly how that feels."

You hummed, "Yea, I remember you telling me about that. I shouldn't have assumed that you've never felt that way. I guess I forget because of how talented you are."

Kageyama looked at you with an eyebrow raised, "I mean, I think the same thing about you when it comes to school. Studying is something that seems to come so naturally to you."

Silence feel between the two of you once again as you thought about what he said. You really weren't alone in what you were feeling, and you were being too harsh on yourself.

Hinata would be absolutely SHOCKED that would feel like that about yourself

Because in his mind you're so amazing at what you do

Once he recovers from the shock he would say something comforting

"You're a hard worker so I know you'll work past this feeling"

He would also throw you the Hinata Signature Smile

It was lunch and you were helping Hinata study English since final exams were coming up soon, but you could tell that you weren't putting the same energy into it as you normally do.

Hinata also noticed, "Hey, are you doing okay? Normally you are... how do you say it... more excited to help me during lunch."

You signed and put your head on your desk, finally being called out, "I took an exam last period and I feel like I did awful on it."

Hinata shot out of his chair, causing a loud squeek, "Huh?? But you're the smartest person I know! I mean that's why I always go to your for school stuff!"

You picked you head back up from the desk, "I don't really..."

"I mean your brain is so... so big and you study a lot and you're really passionate about your studies!" He finally settled in his seat and puts him hand on his chin in thought, "Well, I know how great you are so, everything will be okay! You're so hard working and smart that you'll absolutely crush the next test!"

You laugh at him, "I guess you're right. Thank you, Hinata."

He beams at you, "Of course! I can't just let my tutor be depressed!"

But once he realized it was seriously bothering you, he would stop

Then proceed to not look at you after saying that

Tsukishima seems so bad at comforting people from an outside perspective, but he just never doubts that you'll do well.

You and Tsukishima had just finished a really hard exam in class and you immediately put your head on your desk once your test was collected

Tsukki turned his head to you with his signature teasing smile, "Hm? Did Ms. Academic Weapon not do well on the exam?"

You groaned into your arms, "I can't deal with you teasing right now."

Tsukishima faced his whole body towards you upon hearing that, "Wait do you actually think you didn't do well?"

You pick your head up and sassily nod at him, "Um, yeah, Tsukki, I actually think I did pretty shitty on that exam."

"Okay, no reason to get all sassy with me. I'm sorry." He turns his body away from you, puts his headphones around his neck, and takes out his phone, "But I really don't understand why you think you did bad. I mean, you've been studying for it every time I've texted you for the last week, so I'm sure you did a lot better than you think you did."

You smile at him, "That's pretty high praise coming from you, Tsukki."

He put his headphones on his ears once he had a song picked out, "Yup, and don't expect anymore of it~"

You huffed at him, "Jerk."

When you share how you feel with Yachi, she listens very intently to your struggles

She would comfort you by saying something like "I'm sure you're the only one that thinks that about you! I think you always do amazing at everything you do!"

She would also offer to help you in any way she can

Whether that's helping you study or practice or just lend a listening ear whenever you're not feeling well

You were sitting in Yachi's room with her after school. She had wanted to watch a movie with you, but you really couldn't bring yourself to be excited about it. You of course loved hanging out with Yachi but after getting your exam back today, you couldn't help but let it affect your mood.

Yachi paused the movie and turn herself towards you on the couch, "What's wrong? Normally you'd be laughing waaay more at a movie like this and you would have way more commentary so I'm really worried about you."

You lay you head back on the couch and sigh, "Yea, I'm fine, I just got a bad exam grade back so I'm feeling bad for myself."

Yachi nodded, "Okay, tell me about it."

You looked up at the ceiling, "I mean, I studied everyday for almost two weeks for that exam, but I still got a C on it, so I'm really frustrated with myself. I just feel like I'm not doing well in school lately so I'm in the dumps about it."

Yachi looks at you perplexed, "Well, I can promise you that you're the only one who thinks you're not doing well. I mean, you can't do well one everything. I personally think you're wickedly smart!"

You laugh, "Thank you, Yachi." You smile at her, "I guess I'll just have to do good on the next."

"See! Exactly! And I'll be here to help you with it no matter what!"

Yamaguchi nodded, "I feel that way all the time. But, whenever I do feel that way I try to remind myself of all of the things I've accomplished instead of lingering on the things I haven't accomplished yet."

You sigh, "Yea, that makes sense, but I guess it's just hard to remind myself."

He looked you in your eye and pointedly said your name, "You are genuinely one of the smartest person I know. You aced all of your finals last semester and you have a really good GPA. You help tutor people all of the time, and people wouldn't trust you with that if you didn't know what you were doing."

You look down at your feet and smile, "Yea, I guess I am pretty smart."

Regarding the Arrisa and Hal stuff? The way I understand it, they eventually tried to split the difference regarding her age. So, yes her planet had this incredibly long orbit, so in Earth years, she was older than she seemed. BUT, her planet's society basically still considered one of their years one year like we would. So she was still viewed as a teenager and that was her maturity level

Yea that's not better. Like not even slightly. Because I think a lot of people misunderstand what the age of majority IS and what it actually represents. You do not magically become a mature and competent person when you turn 18, as anyone who has actually BEEN 18 can tell you. 18 is just the number that THIS society (that is, the American one, the age of majority changes in different cultures) has decided means "you are mature enough to begin making your own decisions and mistakes, without someone directly acting as your guardian" If Arisia's culture still considered her a teenager. And she was still acting to that culture's definition of a teenager. And was NOT considered to be within that cultural window of acceptance of sexual activity. WHAT HAL DID IS **STILL** PEDOPHILIA. You can't use physical age as some kind of universal marker for these sorts of things ESPECIALLY when we're discussing aliens. The counter example would be Miss Martian from the Young Justice cartoon. Despite her body being 48 "earth years" old, she is considered in Martian terms to be a teenager, someone UNDER the age of maturity and majority. She isn't magically an adult because of the calendar date she was born under for a planet she's not even FROM. Now is this an imperfect system? Yes, obviously, everyone actually matures at a different rate and some people in their 30s make decisions that would be beyond the pale for a 14 year old but we have to, as a society, place some kind of legal line between guardianship and self sufficiency and that line is a legal and cultural one, not some immutable physical characteristic.

So I've discovered Knave 1e

And It's everyone's problem now. Not so much fancy text this time but I've been going crazy making little systems for it. Like the first one, which was originally going to be in D&D 5e but I couldn't make it work there as easily. The system allows PCs to enchant any item with quality.

The effect any given spell gives is intentionally left out, as it should be up to the referee and the player as it what their enchantment does in the end. The next rule, again, was for 5e. But, translated well into Knave as I wanted the game to stay lethal but I wanted it to be a player decision. Sometimes a death would just be boring and that's dumb. So with this, you get to choose if you die or if you'd like to roll for it.

This would have had nice tables but google docs is ASS for arranging two tables next to each other.

Next is giving weapons a firm range. Knave had basic rules for this but I wanted to expand them to give players a little more wiggle room. The ranges use the base movement of all NPCs of 40 ft.

Knave also offers multiple ways to resolve attacks, while I prefer roling against a static value (ie Armor Defense), I wanted to offer players a way to actively defend against attacks. At a cost, however.

Rolling with your defense bonus gives you a chance to debuff the enemy, but puts you at higher risk of eating an attack. And even the rare chance of fumbling so badly the attack is made worse. Next was my crack at a monster, this is largely custom and based on the giant bloodworm statblock from AD&D. It's main purpose is to showcase how I want to handle conditions, this was made before Active Parry but it uses the same kind of idea.

Something Knave did not touch on at all, aside from stating a speed, was exploration. I wanted to steal from PF 2e for this so I made my own little simplified system.

This makes exploration feel a little more boardgame-y, and assumes there aren't going to be rolls for random encounters going on all the time. Ideally, unless the PCs are actively exploring new areas and not simply traveling between them, there should only ever be encounters which the referee has planned. Or, ones which match the movement of other groups on the map.

To tie into this, I've also worked out a Influence system, or a fame system.

PCs doing things should attract attention over time, they should have a real affect in the world they are in so that players understand their actions are actually doing something. It also could very easily tie into classic OSR ideas of building their own keep and managing hirelings. Doing that would draw the attention of local groups, for better or for worse!

Made weapons a touch more interesting! Damage types now give bonuses, and the type of weapon is used to determine their bas damage and quality, not pictured because it's a big ass list lmao. Damage is also a flat value! If you deal damage you deal the maximum of a weapon's damage dice now, instead of rolling the dice.

Armor has been brought up to use the same mechanics as weapons, and adjusted slightly in how armor defense is calculated.

Has really set up the course of the season. In my mind, 2 things can happen.

They don't see each other at all. Stolas avoids Blitz, and Blitz is scared to do anything because he's trying to take Verosika's advice

They see each other far too much. Like they're both everywhere.

Now, both of these have potential... And I think both can lead to a voice messy argument (again) where both finally apologise and they both finally see the others side.

My prediction is this, it's going to start as 1 and progress into two, when it progresses I'm assuming the last episode, my guesses based on the trailer is that ghostfuckers is the Blitz trauma healing episode, with the line Blitz says overlayed onto the mental breakdown scene (it is not being said in that exact scene) being 'I destroy everything, I make everyone's lives worse.' I believe the leviathan demon (I think it is one anyways) makes Blitz face his traumas by some means, he's already shown to have strong powers (possession, shapeshifting, the painting thing), being forced to face those traumas seen in picture 2 and 3, could possibly lead up to the mental breakdown we see Blitz have in picture 1, or the other way around.

The episode after that I have nothing to really substantiate it but I've always had this theory in the back of my mind that Vassago is going to be more of a mentor/support figure to Stolas, as what Stolas needs more than one night stands is actual friends, what helps better if it's a person that can actually understand Stolas, down to the family he was born into, being the Goetia. Let's be real, the rom-com speech Stolas gave while drunk in apology tour? That's real telling about just how isolated Stolas is from the real world, romance does not work like a rom-com and Stolas needs to learn that asap. Plus Stolitz cannot get back together without Stolas realising his own problems as well. Blitz's butler imps comment in full moon and 'You get off to getting plowed by people you look down on.' the line before the one in the picture. It proves that Stolas has not learned from the night before, and that Stolas is still being accidentally racist to imps, Stolas doesn't know he's doing it but Blitz clearly hears and feels it, which in conjunction with the mess that was the party for Blitz, I'd imagine the most reasonable thing for the both of them to do at this point is go no contact while they learn from their mistakes and problems that prevent Stolitz from truly happening.

Which puts us into the last episode, my guess for it is this, something happens to Stolas beforehand, because there's no way purely Andrealphus set this up on his own, he's a lower rank than Stolas, potential Paimon involvement? Healthy communication happens for a bit, they get interrupted by the attack on Stolas, they somehow fend off the attack, then they continue to talk healthy or just realise how they both messed up hard and be good friends again at the very least. There is that Octavia scene in the trailer as well, maybe she's got something to do with the divorce proceedings and the sudden loss of Stolas' powers, most likely played like a puppet by Stella and Andrealphus, because her one line in the trailer is how her father never loved mother or Octavia (because Stolas cheated on Stella with Blitz), Octavia does not know about much of the abuse Stella gave Stolas, making Stolas seem like the bad guy to Octavia.

So yea that's my theory on where the rest of the season is going to go, starting off at 1 from here out and eventually progressing into 2 around the end. Again thanks for the ask, I enjoyed writing this :)

I don't think I can really explain this without sounding like some elitist prick to someone out there, and that's not the intention or the thought process at all; but the thing is I really do want to like Limbus Company. However I've not been able to bring myself to do so for a lot of reasons.

Look this is gonna be a long one because I'm gonna keep it 100% with you, I have been having a LOT of thoughts about how we're never getting another game like Lob Corp; or even characters who can commit to their most surface level key design features.

I know I've sorta touched on this in the past, and every time I do I get anons by the dozens; (anon is turned off before anyone tries) telling me to kill myself or that I'm stupid and wrong. Which like, look I get it, but you need to understand that a jab at Project Moon and Limbus is not a jab at YOU.

Project Moon used to be one of my favorite game companies, I am the self proclaimed "#1 Project Moon Fan" so you gotta understand that I'm coming at this from a perspective of love for the series as a whole.

I think Limbus fundamentally fumbles the whole bag when it comes to what it could have been vs what it is. That's not to say it's entirely garbage or something. I'm not just going to say everything everyone likes about Limbus is absolute dogwater bullshit.

However as I've said before I can't shake the feeling that what I see when I look at Limbus is like a parody of what it wants to be. It's a husk wearing the corpse of Lob Corp like a cheap costume. Does it have some cool characters? Absolutely; yea I love seeing all the cool EGO designs and such, shame that so many of them cost real money and are still a gamble since many of them reveal things about the characters.

Which like, hey that's a good thing; they SHOULD reveal things about the characters, they should have cool little extra details; they should be important and plot relevant. If they weren't it would just be some cool costume for the characters (and let's be honest, some/most of them absolutely are...) However the fact of the matter is, what we were promised was that this would be a means of continuing to tell us about The City while funding other big projects.

I remember when they said we were going to get a proper open world game set in The City, where we were going to be able to make our own character and explore everything. Do you have any idea how hype I was for that? Limbus changed very quickly from the planning phase to the execution phase. It's success rapidly shifted the focus, no longer was it just a side project to sort of run in the background and "give us something back for donations and funding support." Suddenly it was THE focus of Project Moon.

I understand that since the launch (and even before the launch) of Limbus, Project Moon has had a lot going on. As in, things have come out that the company kinda sucks, that their practices are less than ethical; there was a very short lived boycott over the rights of women in Korea, and the sexism seen in the workplace at Project Moon.

It was genuinely saddening to me to see that fail so quickly because you know, the entire community/fandom built on the shoulder of "we need to oppose shitty business practices even when it's hard." Couldn't manage to oppose shitty business practices and sexism, because they needed their blorbos or whatever.

HOWEVER, that's all been talked about into the dirt, what I don't often see discussed; though it does happen on occasion, is just how much the tone of the game has shifted. Lobotomy Corp, back in it's original heyday; was actually really interesting. Because it was one of the few horror games where sure the graphics were pretty mid and the overall visual aesthetics may not be consistent. However that didn't matter because the characters and story were actually well written and compelling. We were seeing a game explore horror in a very human way, beyond simple shock factor and jumpscares. It still had monsters, and they were the least frightening part of the whole thing.

It felt like the Abnormalities were there as a sort of reminder; here are the monsters, but what's actually scary is what's going on at the company. What's going on with the people, and how you're involved, and the fact that these characters are suffering from very relatable, understandable; and human traumas. The scariest part of Lobotomy Corp for me wasn't Nothing There or The Woman Facing The Wall; it was the relatability of these characters, the fact I couldn't help but see a piece of myself in characters like Malkuth or Chesed.

It was also really interesting that at no point (other than MAYBE Netzach) does the game outright throw something in your face. Not once does it tell you "Malkuth has ADHD" or whatever. It doesn't need to, you see it; you understand it. You feel the futility of it all, understanding you're in a loop, you can't change how things will play out; you can't fix the past, you can do everything in your power to lessen the suffering but it won't fix it.

It's insane that we go from a storylines like Tiph's to the height of horror being "scary" monsters and in-your-face trauma. We even saw a bit of this formula in Library of Ruina, though I believe it was handled a lot better. A lot of people tell me I'm just bias, I was one of the "originals" by which I mean I remember being in THE (at the time) Project Moon discord server when there were maybe like 20 of us who were really mentally unwell about this series. Making mods, making content whether it be art or writing or whatever, I remember staying up all night going through the code and the data and the unused assets. So sure I have a lot of love for the original Lob Corp and such.

However what people hate to recognize is that yes, I'm aware of my bias, and where my bias lies; and no that's not influencing my opinion in the way you think it is. Believe it or not I DO like the characters in Limbus; I actually don't mind at all that we see some fresh faces. I wouldn't be happy with them dragging the corpse of Chesed into Limbus just so I can see my dumb blue haired coffee man (don't think I'm generalizing my favorite boy I swear to god.) I'd be mad that they really dredged up the corpse of a more or less complete character story just to pull some fan service.

My issue with Limbus is just how unfitting it feels. This doesn't feel like the same writing at all, it feels to me as though there's so much more shock value and fan service and "hey isn't THIS cool!?" Rather than striking at the heart of horror. I'm not saying these characters aren't still relatable to people, I absolutely know they are. I'm saying that we've seen Project Moon drift closer and closer to safe marketability over interesting storytelling.

Marketability really is the core problem for me, from the need for monetary gain to the lack of risk being taken with the narrative. It feels like a cheap cash grab, and it's taken over the entire company. We won't ever get another game like Lob Corp, it's just not going to happen. Even if we do get those other promised things; like a "Project Moon Land" or an open world City exploration game, it's going to be a shell of what it could have and should have been. Because it's sharp edges and gripping narrative is going to be smoothed down and made to be marketable to the highest paying audience.

I feel like Limbus more than any other game in the series is so black and white. These are the good guys (who have done bad things uwu) and these are the bad evil guys. This is the characters explicit trauma, we're going to bring this up again at the end very directly. All our characters are SO quirky and fun, this one talks in acronyms! This one exclusively talks in the third person! This one is autistic! But What if they had REASONS for being like that?!?!?!??!?!?? It all feels so, I don't know; it's like those youtubers who make horror content for kids saying "DON'T CALL DON QUIXOTE AT 3 AM!"

I'm not even saying you can't have quirky characters, or characters who talk in a specific way, or characters who are autistic. I'm saying that the whole thing with Limbus feels so half-hearted and phoned in. I've tried to get into the game several times, and if it's not that I'm literally missing out on stuff because I'm actually poor and can't afford to spend hundreds on gacha every time they release a new one; it's the fact that it just feels so predictable.

This could very well be a ME problem, and I fully accept that and I'm not here to tell you that you can't like Limbus Company. I'm just blogging on my personal blog lamenting (heh) the fact we're never going to get another Lob Corp; or even a Library of Ruina. Because at the end of the day I have a deep love for those games; but Project Moon isn't the company it once was, and now that it has had a taste of this success it's never going to go back to being the company it once was. Especially not after you know, firing some of their key figures, burning bridges with creators and artists; and ultimately shooting themselves in the foot 8 times over because hey it doesn't matter, check out this new EGO we made Don's a spooky vampire now!

If you actually want a really good example of what I mean when I say it feels half hearted; look no further than the very first major plot arc with Gregor. That's my boy right there, I love that guy; but they really do just pull an immediate one two punch only to miss both swings with the whole "here's Yuri, he likes Yuri like a sister; uh oh someone has to protect her who are you going to send? It has to be Gregor; it has to be, you can't actually pick anyone else, like sure you can but we've set this up so you HAVE to pick Gre- OH NO HE FAILED and she's DEAD and he's SAD and you should be too!" But more than that, let me put it this way; what's Gregor's key design thing? If I was to line up the sinners and have you point out something unique about each of their designs; what would it be for Gregor? Is it his arm? You know, the lack of a human arm? You know, the thing he has trauma about? The physical and visual representation of his trauma? The fact it's a weapon? A sharp, jagged, inhuman wea- oh wait hang on...

Yea sure I guess he can just have that back for this ID. Why not. Fuck it, we can't even commit to this one thing entirely. "That's LITERALLY only 1 EGO dude."

Another one. "That's a fucked up thorn claw that doesn't count." Fine dude, fuck; here,

That's CLEARLY a fucking hand with some butterflies on the arm. (Sick design mind you but come on man.)

My point with this whole bit here is that they really feel like they can't even commit to what feels like a key visual design element for a character's trauma because hey the rule of cool will sell more if we make him look badass!

And like the other big thing is that we actually know that in The City robotic prosthetics and the like are COMMON, so something like this?

That would be seen as just a mostly functional arm or something he could get replaced with a fully functioning arm later. Not a weapon, not an instrument of trauma for the poor guy.

Look what I'm saying here is that of his 8 IDs on the wiki, only 3 actually have a hook, claw, or non-hand/arm appendage that is actually a weapon. Of the 6 EGO on the wiki 4 of them are either just hands/arms or at least vaguely hand/arm adjacent with only 2 being the centipede and orb thing.

So the take away for me on this is that they couldn't even handle committing to the most surface level visual key element of this character for the MAJORITY of his IDs and EGOs. What's the point? His character arc is predictable and just tries to hit you in the gut with "he's a victim of war, he was experimented on; he loses everyone he cares about!" Then goes "oh and don't worry about him being a cockroach man because that doesn't matter actually..."

I hate it man.

I miss when this company made single player focused games, that told an interesting story; and actually understood horror and trauma beyond buzzwords and flash in the pan "ANGST" moments. I'm sorry but half of the Cantos have these very predictable storylines that really demand I get invested to side characters who we know aren't going to make it out alive because "Death = Sad and Emotion Response = Good!"

Do you remember when FNAF came out and everyone and their brother made youtube videos about how, "Jumpscares are cheap horror because it's an involuntary response!" Because this is that but for writing; they just want you to feel sad or angst or whatever because they know triggering any kind of emotional response in you means they got some kind of reaction from you. Gone are the days when you actually had time to get to know and care about a character; gone are the days when the characters were going through shit that actually did impact you in some way. Now we get 2-bit here and gone flash in the pan side characters to kill off, they exist solely to be expendable. I really miss when the games forced me to assume the role of a fucked up little guy and let me fight against the very nature of being a fucked up little guy in a fucked up little world. Only to come to the understanding that no matter how much I try, no matter how much I struggle against the horror; I can't undo the past, I can't save his wife; I can't end their suffering; I can't undo her decades of pain. I can only go forward as a better version of a fucked up little guy.

Freaking knew it! Dark Sun was behind it! And i had a feeling he was slowing Eclipse down to buy time for Moon to reach this point. Don't know what he plans to do with him, but i bet it's not good. We know Dark Sun doesn't like Moons.

I am so glad Eclipse is better now though, and to learn that what he needs to do to get Solar back would take maybe a day tops to do, yea, i see why Dark Sun slowed him down despite giving him the information to get Solar back. To drive Moon to the point of no longer caring. I do wonder how he's going to feel when he finds out Solar is back after he left. Cuz I have little to no doubts that Solar is going to be back very soon now that Eclipse is no longer inhibited.

On another, less happy note, i am still seeing people defending Moon, and just.. why? His actions cannot be justified. Grief, psychosis break, insanity, it doesn't matter now. He still did those actions knowingly and willingly. He nearly killed Earth knowingly and willingly. He drove his family away knowingly and willingly.

Yet unlike the other villains who come from backgrounds that are similarly or more tragic still get hated on when they were first introduced as a villain. Like OG Eclipse. Someone who was torn out, abandoned, trapped, who was confused and scared because he didn't understand what happened to him or why it happened to him, becoming solely angry and lashing out when he finally got strong enough to break out, and doing horrible acts. He had a tragic backstory that led him down his path to villainy, and nobody excuses or defends his actions. And he only ever murdered one person, and that was to protect himself, and subsequently Sun too (gov interview video). He only hurt Lunar in a pretty minor way that he could recover from, physically, pretty quickly. Just a slap. (Still not okay at all, but i am going somewhere with this.) He felt some remorse for it too. (Also important) And yes he said some very mean things. Mainly taunted them, and just sent them to some places they needed to escape from, and could, relatively easily, most times. (Except the witherstorm eps. They had to beat it before they could leave) For the most part though, he left them unscathed.

Then Moon who was initially just suffering from grief of losing Solar, verbally attacked his family after Eclipse tried to get him help and they confronted him with an offer to help, which he refused. He hurt Eclipse v4 for doing it too by breaking his fingers (note: worse than a slap). He was so relentless in trying to kill Blood Moon that even when Earth was present, he literally just called her Colaterall Damage and proceeded forward with it anyways! He had no care for her! He felt no remorse! If not for Puppet, Earth would be dead, and Moon would not care! And she got a bad burn from it too, ehich is gonna stick around for a while too! (Way worse than a slap)

Yet people still defend him just because we actually see his spiral down into insanity. Just because he wasn't a villain at first!

Everyone knows the saying: "Villains aren't born, they're made."

This literally applies to every villain on any show ever! This applies to Moon! This applies to OG Eclipse! Both of which were innocent at first!

And people still try to defend Moon for his unjustifiable, and unforgivable actions! Where is the sympathy for the other villains? Why are they not touched on as much? Because they were dropped on us as villains from the get-go! Even knowing their backstories, nobody touches on them as much because of that fact! We just go "Oh okay, still doesn't excuse their actions."

Meanwhile New Moon still has people defending him just because he was not a villain at his first inception. After Solar died, yes, i can understand he was grieving in his own right, even if it wasn't a healthy way to grieve. There is a reason that Anger is known as one of the five stages of grief. Yet this has extended far past grief now.

His family tried to extend their olive branch to him multiple times. He smacked it out of their hands. Every time. So i do not blame them for no longer trying. He didn't want their help, and he made that abundantly crystal clear. They still were trying to stop him from doing something stupid with reviving Solar, but also, at this point, it's not about Solar at all anymore.

Moon is a villain now. No more, no less. Even if in the past, he was a better Moon than Old Moon, he is way worse now. There is just a certain point where one cannot defend a person anymore. Moon has long since reached that point. At least for me.

And i apologize for the rant, but i really needed to get that off my chest. I don't like what's happening either, but it is.
