love when men cry about body hair bc "it's hygiene" and yet 15% of cis men leave the bathroom without washing their hands at all and an additional 35% only just wet their hands without using soap. that is nearly half of all men. that means statistically you have probably shaken hands with or been in direct contact with one of these people.
love when men say that women "only want money" when it turns out that even in equal-earning homes, women are actually adding caregiver burdens and housework from previous years, whereas men have been expanding leisure time and hobbies. in equal-earning households, men spend an average of 3.5 hours extra in leisure time per week, which is 182 hours per year - a little over a week of paid vacation time that the other partner does not receive. kinda sounds like he wants her money.
love that men have decided women are frail and weak and annoying when we scream in surprise but it turns out it's actually women who are more reliable in an emergency because men need to be convinced to actually take action and respond to the threat. like, actually, for-real: men experience such a strong sense of pride about their pre-supposed abilities that it gets them and their families killed. they are so used to dismissing women that it literally kills them.
love it. told my father this and he said there's lies, damned lies, and statistics. a year ago i tried to get him to evacuate the house during a flash flood. he ignored me and got injured. he has told me, laughing, that he never washes his hands. he has said in the last week that women are just happier when we're cooking or cleaning.
maybe i'm overly nostalgic. but it didn't used to feel so fucking bleak. it used to feel like at least a little shameful to consider women to be sheep. it just feels like the earth is round and we are still having conversations about it being flat - except these conversations are about the most obvious forms of patriarchy. like, we know about this stuff. we've known since well before the 50's.
recently andrew tate tried to justify cheating on his partner as being the "male prerogative." i don't know what the prerogative for the rest of us would be. just sitting at home, watching the slow erosion of our humanity.
#writeblr#warm up#ps edited so it is more clear where “half of men is coming from:#15% literally don't even touch water#an ADDITIONAL 35% ''wash'' by just running their hands under water WITHOUT SOAP#15+35 =50%#like that is not washing ur hands. go back and use soap#btw the numbers for women are 4% never washing and 15% ''just water''#which is still gross but like. sooo much better yikes#ps i know we're all gay on this site but watching ppl ''correct'' my math on this has been wild#i have a learning disability im genuinely bad at math so i check EVERY time someone corrects me#but no they're just confidently wrong.....#182 hours is a week babes. 182/24 (number of hours in a day) is ~7.6#that's where i got that number from. also from rent we know there's 168 hours in a week.#ALSO btw if u read this and ur response is ''men are also struggling rn tho'' like babe you missed the point of it tho#this doesn't even make fun of men it's legit just pointing out that bigotry against women isn't founded#in anything men actually CARE about . like they don't actually CARE about ''being clean'' when they make fun of armpit hair#or they would be WASHING THEIR HANDS.#men pretend to be rollin' in cash and Apex Predators and instead they are trained to be lazy and unwilling to act in emergencies#i have never and will never make fun of men for asking for more support on important topics like DV and mental health.#this is so clearly not about men; it's about how common just being plainly misogynistic has become.#like they don't try to hide it anymore.

doing this thing i call "reading every class high school lit book i missed out on" partially because as an english minor i feel like a lot of ppl in my english lectures have already read these books in higschool partially because high school english classes suck balls and i think the way they taught kids to read books was lame and dumb as hell and killed love for reading and i think some of these books they make kids read should never be experienced in a classroom setting

Y'ALL. Y'ALL so for a long time I've believed that "the sun" in Meursault's story is Carmen, and I went to check Hell's Chicken's dialogue to see exactly how he said that he'd dealt with distortions before, and... you know what else he said?
To my knowledge, it is a phenomenon where an individual morphs into a form often unfit to be considered “human”. It has no known causes, and the appearances were all different.
Unfit to be considered human.
Meursault, who, in his book, was judged by the court to be soulless.
Meursault, who has EGO for Cyborgs who have been so mutilated they barely act like people anymore; a murderer who was experimented on until ceasing to be human; a sheep named after Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, a novel about the humanity of androids and the inhumanity of humans; and now a rose that can't help its bloodsucking nature, based on Carmilla, a vampire whose story emphasized the duality between her vampiric traits and her human ones.
Meursault, who answered Heathcliff's ironic question of if he had metal for brains like this:
Tumblr media
I'm placing my bets now, that line from Hell's Chicken is foreshadowing for Meursault's canto even more than "I have witnessed a number of [distortion] cases in the past" was
#limbus company#project moon#meursault#sorry of my info on carmilla is off i still havent read the book#me post#CLARIFYING IN THE TAGS: MEURSAULT IS HUMAN#it would be a disservice to his character and honestly pretty gross if he ended up not being human#the entire point is that he IS human and that other people perceive him as otherwise because of how he behaves#so I guess theoretically if he did distort it would exacerbate the issue?#extremely speculative but there are distortions who can behave pretty normally while distorted#like the marksman of the mist (and also some of the reverb ensemble but those people are all full of issues WAYYY bigger than marksman was)#if meursault was one of those...#someone calling him unfit to be human. it's fine it definitely won't leave a scar on his psyche#i think in his canto there might end up being something about how even though people don't see distortions as humans#distorting is a very human thing to do#anyway i think overall there's juxtaposition with him and don quixote#don isnt human and wishes she could be#meursault is human but people don't think he is#yknow despite my theories it would probably be more poignant if he DIDNT distort#them looking at him and assuming he only couldve done something like that if he distorted but he didnt#oh wait but the timeline... they probably wouldn't have known about how distorting works yet#nevermind back to the first idea#they ask why. he talks about a beautiful voice. no one knows about this yet and they all think there's something deeply wrong with him#'a beautiful voice convinced me' holds up in court about as well as 'the sun was too bright'

I'm still reading TVA and I gotta say for the benefit of IWTV show fans who haven't yet / aren't gonna read the books and are learning about them solely via tumblr: we GOTTA set aside some time in our busy killing Marius schedule to also kill Santino and Allesandra (from the Roman coven of the Children of Darkness that Armand mentions in the museum scene) because holy shit:
LIST OF CRIMES (some of these they don't do personally but they're sanctioning all of it)
the Roman coven kidnap all the boys from Marius' palazzo and throw them one by one onto a bonfire because they deserve to die "for their Master's sins"
Toss Armand in the fire as well but pull him out before he dies, leave him in a cell to suffer his burns.
Santino to Armand when he refuses to listen to Santino's indoctrination:
Tumblr media
Santino again:
Tumblr media
... then has one of the vampires in the coven dump the ashes from the other boys all over Armand's face so they get in his eyes and mouth.
Santinto to Armand (talking about Marius at first) 😒:
Tumblr media
When Armand still resists indoctrination:
Tumblr media
Lock Armand up in a cell and starve him for a week before tossing in Riccardo, his human best friend who he loves like a brother, who they specifically did not burn and kept aside for this purpose. Armand drains Riccardo before even realizing it is him and they refuse to remove Riccardo's body so Armand just has to be in there with it rotting.
Continue the cycle of leaving Armand starving completely alone in the dark for a week, bringing him a human victim, leaving the body there to rot. for like FIVE MONTHS while Armand loses his mind and starts seeing ghosts.
then:

This may just be me, but I think if you ship a canonically very abusive, manipulative and toxic relationship, you don't get to judge or call anyone degenerates for their own fucked up ships, actually.

did someone really pay money to blaze a post saying that you can still love good omens despite NG because terry pratchett wrote most of it? are you really spending money right now to reassure people they can still like a book/show despite one of its creators being a shitty person? sorry not sorry, but if your first thought on hearing someone is a sexual abuser is to think about how you can still enjoy their work, you have a problem
no one is going to attack you for still being a fan of good omens or any other of his work, and if they do you can block them and turn off asks, but I'm positive the two women who have come forward are going to be attacked for "trying to ruin a good man" and they won't be able to hide from it, so maybe have a little more care for the actual victims here instead of worrying whether you're still allowed to play with your toys

I think it's hilarious that I, aroace, know tons about sex and kink and read a lot of smut, while my friend, pansexual, can't read or watch anything with sex in it and only knows so much about sex and kink because I taught it to her for my amusement

you know what, I actually will talk about this because it's bothering me. The issue with focussing so heavily on syd and carmy's potential for a romantic relationship isn't that there's something inherently unintellectual about romance or whatever, it's that a lot of people seem incapable of doing that without immediately flattening the story and ignoring or intentionally misreading any and all nuance for the sake of that romance. Every scene suddenly becomes about how it impacts their relationship, every analysis is done through a romantic lens, every frame or line of dialogue becomes about finding some easter egg or hint that "proves" these people should start dating. Their dynamic is absolutely a fundamental part of this show, but if you can only see it as a will-they-won't-they, you miss so much of what the story is actually trying to say with these two.
There are good versions of this story where their relationship is romantic and there are good versions of this story where it isn't, but as soon as you decide them being together is "the point," you lose the ability to actually judge the story for what it is, not what you want it to be.
#like so much of their dynamic (esp but not exclusively in S3) has been about showing the ways that carmy's trauma and dysfunctional#attitude in the kitchen impacts other people and how even though he cares about syd and wants their partnership to work he keeps self#sabotaging and setting himself and by extension her and the restaurant up to fail and replicating the same toxic environments that#he grew up and trained in and this is very much consistent with his character and a natural continuation of the conflicts they've been#having since S1 but because him being shitty with her runs contrary to them getting together suddenly its 'ruining the story' and#out of character and only happening bc the writers just hate to see this ship winning and like. if you really think that i genuinely don't#know what show you've been watching bc it sure as shit wasn't this one. like it hurts to see him do this because you know#they could do something genuinely great together and that he's ruining a really good thing but this is also the reality of where he is rn#if he was just a good and supporting business partner and not deeply dysfunctional it would be wildly out of character#the problem w S3 wasn't that it 'ruined' their relationship it's that it had no clear focus overemphasized carmy's arc at the expense#of the other leads deprioritized the supporting cast while failing to give them their own arcs gave more screen time to#unecessary and uninteresting new 'comic relief' characters and let conflicts stagnate without resolving them or#letting them evolve over the course of the season.#this isn't exclusive to the bear this is a general trend ive noticed where as soon as the 'shipper' part of people's brains get activated#it's like they lose the ability to read the story any other way and it stops being about what's good for the narrative and starts being#about whether or not these two people kiss and anything that gets in the way of that is bad and anything that brings it closer is good#and it's usually whatever but it's really frustrating when the story ppl are doing that to is this good#it also makes people fundamentally incapable of treating any 'obstacle' to that romance in a way that isn't wildly meanspirited and#gross (esp bc those characters are usually women) which is exhausting. like no claire isn't evil or a 'pick me' or 'bad' for carmy#or a useless addition to the story or whatever other nonsense you guys have decided must be true to feel okay. she's a perfectly normal#character and their relationship is exploring some of the ways that carmy's inability to deal with or actually address his trauma#impacts the various relationships in his life. she doesn't even have to be a monster or a narrative mistake for him and syd to be#'destined' for each other or whatever. this isn't a middle school wattpad fic.#im definitely gonna get killed in the street for this but ive been looking for a good reason to spend less time on here so might as well#the bear#sydcarmy#sydney adamu#carmy berzatto

Seven Deadly Sins Series (NSFW 18+)
sloth (noun) - a state of mind that is apathetic, lazy or sluggish. It is the act of knowing the right thing to do and failing to do it.
tiny cw for somnophilia. this is an established relationship with off-screen kink negotiation. but if somno isn't your thing, I'll see you at the next installment.
Eddie wakes up to his boy curled over his chest and sound asleep.
He’s got one of Eddie’s hoodies on with the hood pulled up over his messy, messy hair and his pretty, pretty lips rest open and inviting where his breathing is soft against Eddie’s collarbones.
He could kiss him awake. He really could.
But he goes to stretch his sleep-stiff muscles and is wide awake in an instant. Reminded by a soft whimper and furrowed eyebrows that he fell asleep with his fingers tucked inside his boy’s body, soft and wet and warm. Still sticky and swollen with Eddie’s spend from the night before.
So sure he could kiss him awake.
But he could also let him sleep.
It’s still early. Eddie can tell by the way the room is lit that deep morning-blue just before the sun. They don’t have to work today, either one, so they have plenty of time to rest.
He should let him sleep.
One thing to know about Steve Harrington is that he sleeps like a rock. Eddie thinks he could genuinely sleep through anything.
So he’s not particularly gentle when he shifts his weight off of himself and gets him on his stomach.
He swings a leg up over Steve’s and settles between his legs. Spares himself a minute to just look at him.
Top half covered and cozy in Eddie’s clothes. Black Sabbath tour dates stretched across his strong shoulders and down his back. Thick muscles of his thighs leading up to cute, bouncy cheeks. Eddie’s favorite freckle stained bright red by a welt the shape of his hand.
He has to breathe so he doesn’t pass out. There’s something about Steve when he’s like this. When he’s leftover messy and sleep-warm and naked except for something of Eddie’s. Something that makes Eddie feel like he could black out if he thinks about it for too long.
He indulges himself and gives the handprint on his ass a tight squeeze and light smack just to watch it shake. Feels his eyes roll back in response.
Grabbing at the inside of one of Steve's thighs, he hitches it up until he’s stretched out and exposed. Sees him shove his arms up under the pillow and settle once more.
It's the sight of his boy’s hole, still red and puffy and open, that finally has Eddie spitting into his own hand and shoving into his boxers.
One hand on his dick, and the other pulling Steve open, he fails to stifle a groan that rattles through his chest. Knows he could come just from this view alone. Knows he has.
But he forces himself to slow down, at least long enough to watch the way he spits down over Steve’s hole and watch the way it slips inside. To hear a quiet hitch of breath and do it once more.
Just as he feels himself getting closer and closer to release, he tugs himself out of his underwear and shifts up on his knees until he can press the head against Steve’s entrance. Pushes down slow and strong until it pops inside. A shiver runs down his spine at the feeling and this time Steve’s hips shift and Eddie freezes.
He freezes and he hears soft whines and whimpers but Steve’s face is still slack and he settles eventually.
Luckily for him, Steve almost waking up does the opposite of deter his impending orgasm.
His next breath in is stuttered as he falls over the edge. Fills his boy up and leaves him messy.
He flops back into his spot and drags Steve back up over his chest. Wraps him up tight in his arms and dips two fingers back up inside him. Keeps him sticky and filled, just the way he likes.
He drops a kiss to his hood covered head and falls back asleep, soft and sated.
*****
The second time Eddie wakes up it's to the strong muscles of Steve’s naked back as he works himself back down on his dick.
He drops his head back down with a hissed out “Fuck, baby,” as his hands reach up to grab at his hips.
Steve turns his head to look back at him and fuck what he said earlier. This might make him black out.
“Morning, babe,” he purrs with a slow grind to his hips that sends Eddie reeling.
He barely suppresses a shocked laugh. Good motherfucking morning to me!”
Steve does laugh. Eddie can feel it. Can feel the vibrations roll through his body and thinks this is the closest he’s ever getting to heaven.
He works up a rhythm, slow and deep. Lazy in the still early morning.
There’s a pout in his voice when he whines “Can’t believe you didn’t fuck me.”
Eddie tightens his hands and hopes he leaves bruises. Loves hearing his boy bitchy and pouting.
“Wanted to wake up on your cock, Eds,” and now he’s just being dramatic to rile him up.
At that Eddie shoves him down with everything he’s got. Holds him still when he tries to squirm away. Tries to steady his own breathing and not to lose control when he feels him clench tight at the full feeling. Knows he feels it deepest this way.
Pastes on a saccharine smile when he speaks. “‘M sorry sweetheart. Still filled you up though, hm? You feel it?” He asks with a slow grind upward. Feels more than he hears Steve’s breath get punched out of him.
Hears him giggle, soft and sweet. He clenches tight again and this time Eddie winces. “Sorry babe. Yeah, feel it. Feels so wet. So big. So good.”
His movements are still slow like syrup when Eddie lets him up. He’s got his hands braced on Eddie’s thighs and he can feel where he traces the ink of his tattoo with a soft touch and hums under his breath.
Slides his own hands up the expanse of his back and marvels at the way the muscles shift under his skin.
He loses himself in the feeling and before he’s really ready to let it go Steve’s whispering “So close, Eds. Make me come.”
And that’s all he really needs and he’s shoving his hips up, up, up in time with Steve’s soft cries. Feels him go tight and rigid and shake apart.
Soothes his hands up and down his sides with a quiet litany of “That’s it baby. Let go for me. I’ve got you.”
Rocks into him once, twice, three more times before he’s spilling into him again and dragging him back and down to wrap him up in his arms once more. Steve fights and squirms until he’s facing him.
Eddie peppers his pretty, red, tear streaked face with kisses and bumps their noses together.
“You wanna shower baby?”
Steve scrunches his nose up and Eddie’s heart might as well not even be in his chest anymore with the way Steve has it in the palm of his hand.
“No,” he breathes into the quiet between them. His hand tracing shapes across Eddie’s face.
“Wanna sleep. ‘M sleepy.” He nuzzles himself up under Eddie’s chin and breathes him in deep.
And maybe Eddie should exercise some control here and make him shower. He has come inside him a total of three times now and he still wants to sleep. But cleaning up can wait.
He likes him messy anyway.

you seem like one of the calmest eluciens about the ship war 😂
*gently holds your hand* I say this in the sweetest most comforting way possible but...it's because I don't care 🤣🤣
I appreciate people's passion for the series and the characters but...SJM will do what she wants in the end. I'm 99% confident Elucien is happening because logically with the story she's been telling, it's what makes sense to me but you know what - she might do a 360 and change everything in the next book so that 1% doubt will always be there because I'm not her and I don't know what's in her brain lol.
I love Lucien, I love Elain and I very obviously love them together. I will ship elucien until the end regardless of what happens because to me, they will always make more sense than any other ship. But I also don't want to spend time arguing with people or trying to convince them about whether I'm right or not when in the end, we could all be wrong anyway haha.
There's a lot of nastiness that comes with this ship war and it's just not worth it. It takes away from the joy the series gives to people and there are real people behind these screens. Ultimately, I'm here for a good time not to deal with people being mean. I've also been in the fandom for a long time and had my fair share of arguments/pettiness so yo girl is TIRED and has seen it all lol. My policy always comes back to ship and let ship but don't be an asshole about it.

ok so I don't mind most of the mischaracterization in Gatsby Broadway because I can understand why they did it and how it helps the story that they are trying to tell, even if I don't agree with it. But I really, really don't like what they did to Catherine and the Mckees (and Nick but that's through the whole show) in The Met.
(to clarify, I have only listened to the cast recordings of Gatsby Broadway! I don’t know any of the acting in between songs or anything they are doing on stage because I have only listened)
This ended up being longer than I expected so I put it below the cut :D
The biggest problem for me is that The Met characterizes Catherine and the Mckees like they are evil lustful people set out to corrupt pure and innocent Nick. In the song, Nick sets up a predator-prey relationship with them, even calling Mr. Mckee a vulture. It sets up this divide between Nick, who is our protagonist and Can Do No Wrong, and the people who side with the antagonist that the show makes Tom. It is implied that Nick gets drunk unwillingly, is flirted with by ALL party members unwillingly, and is "on top of" Catherine while being photographed by Mr. Mckee unwillingly. He does not want to be there with these people that his precious pure midwestern morals call "wrong" in any way, shape, or form.
This is not only not supported in the original, but also is a gross way to treat these characters--especially since Mr. Mckee is often read as queer, and his interactions with Nick add to Nick's own queerness. The song itself states that Mr. and Mrs. Mckee have a consensual open relationship in the setting of the show, but it is painted as something that adds to their immoral status. In the year 2024 we are portraying two consenting adults as evil for communicating and agreeing to have an open relationship? Ok yeah sure, if you say so. Mr. Mckee's, and by extension Nick's, queerness is not openly stated in The Met, although some lines can be read as innuendos or implications to this ("[Mr. Mckee, to Nick or Tom] I'd love to do more work on long island, if I could gain entry" "[Mr. Mckee, to Nick] I want to capture your musk" "[Nick, about the party] everyone is flirting now / and they're all coming on too strong"). Again, I haven’t seen what is happening on stage so I can't speak to that or how it effects these lines. Something about turning a character often read as queer into a "vulture" trying to take advantage of Nick (who, according to some reviews, was stripped of most of his queerness) just doesn't sit very well with me.
Changing the nature of the appartment party is not a very new thing, so I wanted to take a moment to discuss what actually happens in the original that contradicts Broadway Gatsby's portrayal. Nick is drinking, and describes getting drunk that evening, before Catherine and the Mckees even arrived to the apartment. When they arrive the conversation is pleasant and not all that harsh, mostly covering Mr. Mckee's photography (which he HAS done on Long Island, though he tells Tom he would've to do more work there who suggests Myrtle sets him up to photograph Wilson) and Mrytle's dress. The only possible implication that Nick is uncomfortable is the fact that he mentions wanting to leave to take a walk but is stopped as he is drawn back into "some wild strident argument" every time. The text does not elaborate much on the nature of this, so I don't know if that was in an effort to trap him there or just Nick getting trapped by social convention as they continued to talk to him. Nick also has no explicitly stated romantic, sexual, or even physical interactions with Catherine--most of their time interacting was Catherine explaining to Nick that Tom and Mrytle both hate who they're married to. Finally, after Tom breaks Mrytle's nose, Nick leaves the party with Mr. Mckee completely of his own (albeit heavily intoxicated) volition.
All in all, I understand why these changes are often made to the appartment party, and specifically the purpose The Met in the show. The Met is what changes Nick's mind about helping Gatsby meet Daisy. The party is used to give a reason to why Nick chooses to help Gatsby because most modern audiences don't want to root for a character who helps his cousin cheat on her husband for no good reason. The audience wants to relate to Nick--which means that they want him to be a fundamentally good person. And therefore we must see that Tom is bad and awful so that we can be ok with Daisy leaving him for Good and Awesome Gatsby. The problem with The Met is that all of that could still happen without villianizing Catherine and the Mckees. Tom is still an asshole apart from their behavior--he still breaks Mrytle's nose for mentioning Daisy and is, you know, cheating on his wife. Nick's decision to organize tea with Daisy in Gatsby Broadway is based mostly on the way Tom treats Mrytle and Nick himself at the party, not particularly on how the other guests behaved. The Met could have come to the exact same conclusion without portraying Catherine and the Mckees as people trying to corrupt Nick's purity and moral standing, and I think that is what makes it so uncomfortable and off-putting for me.
