"I love you but you're doing wrong in a way I cannot condone" and "I hate you but you're being wronged in a way I cannot stomach" are top tier and I need more of them.

nevermind the one who actually did want to take down the dictatorship as a whole ratted out the others and the aforementioned even worse guy got executed in front of a live audience
I like it when, in stories, there’s a character who you hate automatically because of what they stand for, but you learn a little more about them and find out they really believe they’re doing whatever heinous things they’re doing for the greater good. and you still hate them because you’re meant to but then some other character of the same class gets introduced who is so, so much worse and it makes you go “ah shit did we take that first guy for granted” which causes a little dissonance in your mind because the ideal situation has neither of them
#bluejay reading log#wasn’t expecting that#the original post was about multiple books but now I’m just posting about one

Imagine feeling hope because you found out that some of the horrible dictator’s most trusted advisors are working against him only to realize some of those advisors don’t take issue with the dictatorship part, just the guy himself, and are trying to get his even worse younger brother on the throne. and the advisors had been working at odds with each other as well

Can’t believe the Pew Pew Space Man has been playing everyone all along. And watching the spoilers to Dark Road has increased my love for the Rat Bastard™️ even more!

The main character of the last TV show you watched is now your therapist. How’s it working for you?
#steven universe#well. we know what would happen. he would do a really good job at the cost of his own mental health

worth mentioning that I was the oldest one there. none of us even had boobs yet, much less knew that what we were saying is an actual thing people might engage in during sex. we just though it was really funny
When I was about 10 years old, some friends and I came up with a cool code language where you swap the first and last letter of words. We didn’t think about how poorly this works when you get to longer words because the only phrases we actually used it for were “Nac I tae rouy boob” and the two responses, “On yaw” and “Og rof ti!”. It’s better when you say it out loud

“Modern AUs” of characters are oftentimes the quickest way to determine how accurately someone understands a character’s nature I think. Because every time it is like no. They would not dress like that. No. They would not post on social media like that. No. They would not own a car. No. No. No they would not live in that country. That city. They would not own a house like that. Etc.
