you know what I appreciate about the ofmd fandom? there's space for people to be analytical and critical of the story AND there's space for people to just embrace the chaos of it all

So uhh what happened to shimmer in season 2?
Not exploring how shimmer production has affected the undercity in s2 is such a missed opportunity tbh.
Tumblr media
Obviously there are addicts, but simply dismantling shimmer and destroying all the factories won’t solve addiction. That’ll cause a mass withdrawal and cause ppl to fight over whatever shimmer is remaining.
While it is messed up that Silco made Zaun so dependent on something so volatile as shimmer, that doesn’t change the fact that many are reliant on it. It has become a crux people need. What about the people who work in the shimmer factories? Do they resent shimmer? Are they grateful that it gives them a job? What are the thoughts of the people who may use shimmer but who haven’t become addicts (like Sevika). It’s something they use normally, but maybe not necessarily cuz they’re addicted. Shimmer is clearly parallels to hextech, it takes the place of the technology that Zaun does not have because of systemic inequality.
Are there normal citizens who use shimmer only for emergencies? Do they keep a stash with them in case they are attacked or mugged in the dangerous underground? Do some people start using shimmer cuz it’s the only thing keeping them alive? Are some just power hungry?
Or what about the addict Caitlyn talks to in s1 who says he “just liked the feeling of being powerful for once”. That would be so cool to explore how oppressed people who live in horrific conditions outside of their control might be more likely to become addicts because it gives them a sense of power they’ve lacked their whole lives cuz of inequality. Silco invents shimmer cuz he sees it and other messed up methods as Zaun’s only way to “rise to the surface”. It’s obviously twisted logic, but s1 goes to show that Silco isn’t entirely wrong, his methods are the closest Piltover has come to making Zaun independent.
Tumblr media
“Ready to rise to the surface?”
When Cait starts attacking shimmer factories, Zaunites wouldn’t feel freed, they’d be resentful that Topside is taking away one of their only sources of strength (despite how exploitative that source of strength may be). From their perspective, dismantling shimmer could feel like another form of oppression, even tho Caitlyn’s intentions are good. Plus, destroying shimmer factories would no matter what lead to a spurge of panicked addicts and crime bosses trying to get their hands on as much remaining shimmer as possible. Shimmer shortages would create chaos that definitely wouldn’t have helped the undercity.
Yes, shimmer is a messed up drug that does a lot of harm (but even then it is used recreationally and for medicine), but there were so many interesting ways to explore how Zaun has become so dependent on it in so many ways. You can’t deny that is has become linked to many activities that people rely on. There’s so much nuance to explore there. But this season like doesn’t mention shimmer until after Caitlyn says she’s gonna “dismantle shimmer” (actually maybe the chembarons mention it in ep 2) and then we don’t even see that happen, it’s in a police brutality montage that also glosses over how police brutality affects normal non-crimeboss citizens of the undercity.
Alas, if only s2 has been interested in continuing s1 like idk a second season is supposed to.

Alright - here’s my analysis of what this S3 photoshoot could mean for every character
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lottie -We see her fully embracing her younger self, meaning adult Lottie will continue to embrace the wilderness as she did in season 2, except far worse as we see what else she did in the past. We also see her younger self behind her- almost like a shadow. It’s like her past is looming over her and she’s welcoming it. She wants to bring back her old self and go back to how she was in the wilderness - even if that is incredibly dangerous.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Misty - Misty isn’t touching or looking at her younger self at all, there’s no contact between the two. I think accidentally killing Nat may really change her this season (I think she’s wearing Nat’s jacket). She will no longer be embracing the past, but instead she’ll carry a great deal of shame like Nat did. It could also mean that she will still be devoted to keeping their secrets hidden, including what happened at the end of S2. She's not embracing her younger self to keep the past as far away as possible. I can see this easily taking a toll on her, as she tries to cover up yet another thing she deeply regrets. Her younger self is staring at her, almost as if her actions in the wilderness will be constantly on her mind. She won't be able to escape them. If others start to do more wilderness-related things in the adult timeline, I can see Misty’s role just being the person who covers their tracks and nothing more, possibly sacrificing herself to do so out of guilt (similar to Nat).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Van - Van is not acknowledging her younger self looking straight at her, but she is leaning on her heavily. I can see this meaning that Van may refuse to acknowledge all the horrible things done in the wilderness, instead insisting it wasn’t wrong because she’s unable to move on. This would align with what we've seen already. As we see more conflict happen in the adult timeline, an even more apathetic older Van may emerge as she doesn’t care to acknowledge her trauma or the trouble the adults may be facing. I don’t think we’ll see her go fully unhinged in the adult timeline, but rather not acknowledge what she did in the younger timeline as terrible As we see her younger self fight to stay alive and descend into chaos, this will feel incredibly uncomfortable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tai - Tai’s younger self looks like her reflection in photo 1. This could mean the actions in the two timelines will mirror each other, we’ll see past and present Tai do similar things. I also think this is interesting considering the “other Tai” plot line where we’ve seen her reflection represent her “other” self. It could mean they’re going to fully explore that plot line this season. While they are holding onto each other in the second photo, the hand placement seems almost like they’re holding each other back (they have a strong grip on each other)- both young Tai and older Tai could be fighting within themselves a lot this season which could easily play into that plot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shauna - Older Shauna is holding on to younger Shauna while young Shauna stares directly at the camera. To me, this pose reads as young Shauna completely in control. I think we'll see adult Shauna morph completely into her younger self this season, with no restraints. She’s not really embracing her younger self (like Lottie is), meaning I don't think she'll welcome this change, it's not something she's proud of. I think it'll almost happen without her realizing it. In the next photo Older and Young Shauna are separate - neither comforting each other nor trying to. It’s like she’s not "giving in" to anything - this is who she has always been. I also think this could symbolize her letting go of the life she's put herself into - going back to who she was in the wilderness where she felt more like herself. With that being said, I think this also will lead to an insane younger Shauna to parallel older Shauna which is terrifying considering the things she's already done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natalie - This is a little more difficult because she doesn't have an older self to cling to. It's almost like Nat is aware of that, she doesn't see a future for herself despite being incredibly important in the wilderness. With her becoming the new antler queen, I can see Nat becoming very isolated, feeling like she's losing touch with her real self as she takes on this role. I could see her wanting to give up the role of antler queen as she's forced to make tough decisions that don't come easy for her. I could also see her not wanting to give up this role, as she knows the others are relying on her and would feel guilty for abandoning them. Regardless of what happens, I think the main storyline for Nat this season will be her feeling isolated, despite being surrounded by people who need her.
Let me know what you think of my analysis. I'm probably missing a lot of things! I'd love to hear what other people think.

Tumblr I need your help I am in dire need of feral/unhinged Disaster Twins fics pleaseeee (and maybe Mikey as a bonus) I’m just in love with the idea of Raph being the impulse control for once with this iteration, and just the second he’s out of commission the other three go insane.
Weapons of War, Bioengineered Killing Machines, Manufactured Supersoldiers Rottmnt turtles my BELOVEDS
And maybe just like,,, set Leo and Donnie loose on one of the other dimensions and have them absolutely horrifically annihilate their counterparts’ villains while they watch on in horror
(B.E.A.S.T. was SUCH a good fic you guys oh my GOSH go read it I’m begging you-)
I NEED to have it addressed in fic form that the Rise turtles are fundamentally different than all their other counterparts, because their counterparts? They were accidents. Just a couple of turtles splashed with mutagen and oh look now they’re people but Green. (Huge oversimplification I’m aware but hear me out okay-)
But the Rise boys were created. They were specifically designed to be weapons of mass destruction. They were built with the intent to cause harm which means they were bioengineered to be stronger, smarter(?), faster, to heal quicker, to have the capacity to take hard hits while dishing out even harder ones, they were literally forged with a purpose to kill.
Add on their mystic powers? Then their unlocked Ninpo? You can’t honestly tell me that these four aren’t the strongest and potentially deadliest version of themselves out there.
Yes they still had to learn things, as did the other iterations, they weren’t immediately good (that much is obvious, like c’mon it’s IN the name) but I don’t think the other iterations possess the same instincts as these guys do. They’re just so. Unhinged. They’ve all had their moments in the show I think where it’s obvious they’re not really,,, stable. I love them.
In a plain fists only, maybe weapons, no powers fight, I do think some of the other iterations would win, but purely because they have way more experience than these guys do. (If I did any crossovers I’d say 2003 and 2012 are definitely older than these guys, especially if we’re basing this at the end of their shows) But put them against each other when they’re still at the same level? Rise is whooping butt, I know where I’m placing my bets. It’s called RISE of the TMNT for a reasonnnnnn they’re not there yet but they WILL BE, and as of the end of s2 and the movie I say they’re finally THERE.
I have no idea how this turned into a headcanon rant this was just supposed to be me asking for fic recs hsgdjdjdk it’s almost 3 am tho so whatever sorry if none or only some of this is incoherent o7 o/
Editing this with a list of fics I have been graciously recommended below the cut:
Firefight by remrose [43/43 chapters 222k words] (edit: JUST FINISHED READING ch38-42 WATCH ME BAWL MY EYES OUT I was rotating them in my brain all morning at work) less on the feral side, more on the gut-wrenching angst side, still Disaster Twins and still super good
In Which Donnie and Leo Make Themselves Everyone Else's Problem in an NYC That Isn't Even Their Own by YukiSkyes [7/? chapters, 18k words] the CLASSIC “the Disaster Twins are unapologetically causing chaos” fic, always a delight to read
The Lemon Leak by TurtleSoupSwimmer [27/37 chapters, 143k words] I’m being told it’s very true to the theme here, and it’s very angsty, a suspenseful psychological thriller, and will make you scream at your phone. I for one am very intrigued
Eschatology by aenor_llelo, Alderous, ConcoctionsFromHell, izziel_galaxy, Jaybird314, Otakuforlife19, and Rocket999 [17/17 chapters, 344k words] “HEAVY on the boys being biologically engineered to destroy the world, it also delves into so much character building and worldbuilding that we never got in canon, and it gives even super minor characters the chance to shine” Sounds intriguing, AND it’s a BNHA crossover which I am a big fan of :D
The Hunter’s Bible also by TurtleSoupSwimmer [2/2 chapters, 15k words] Rated Mature, contains themes of SA and c@nnibalism so PLEASE keep that in mind!! Not a fic for the faint of heart this is a Dead Dove: Do Not Eat! The SA is only attempted, and never shown, only implied, and it’s only in ch 1, but the other stuff is fairly descriptive and takes place in ch 2. All that being said, flipping UNHINGED, just about lost my mind in ch 2, it was entertaining in a surreal kinda way if you get what I mean. Funky little feral creatures

I was typing out a reply to this post and then I realized I lost the plot so bad that I didn't want to derail OP's point so here it is. OP's points that I'm reflecting on:
Zaun is a very fucked place with a very fucked system. He’s doing what he thinks needs to be done in order to at some point be able to rein it in and make it better. He wanted to give Zaun a fighting chance against Piltover. He wanted to make them equal. And in a place where there are no rules. And people talk with violence. You’re going to have to make some very awful choices in order to not only take control, but have enough power to fix it. He may not have been the one to change Zaun, but he’s raised the girl that could.
"but he’s raised the girl that could." SO fucking true and I wish s2 had let her. firing that rocket at the council was a promise to make their lives hell. i didn't need to see her as the leader of a movement but it would have been nice to see her enable and enact change just by being a powerful loose cannon. Act 1 almost gave us this but then she decided that Jinx was dead in ep 4 and then we don't see her do much of anything until she shows up to the battle in the finale. She could have spent the season being unhinged, having agency and making actual choices that have consequences for herself, Zaun, and Piltover (she was responsible for most of the inciting incidents in s1). The good consequences and the bad.
Let her run wild. Show her lose herself to her grief and anger and how much she misses him and how fucked all of this is. Then bring her back. Not in a redemption arc way, I don't think she needs that, but in a way where she finally understands what she wants her life to be. She mourns the loss, she comes out of her grief, she forgives herself for killing him because it's what he would have wanted, and for the first time ever, she gets to choose what her path in life will be. It's time to be her own person. She's not a hero, she'll never lose her enjoyment of violence and chaos, but she is no longer fueled by anger and hatred and vengeance.
Let Sevika use the stuff Jinx does on her own--avenging Silco and taking vengeance against Piltover--to lead a movement. Let Sevika struggle with keeping the people who worked under Silco loyal to the mission. Show us how Sevika got on good terms with Scar [the firelights' leader while Ekko was away] and what an alliance between the movement for change inspired by Jinx, and the firelights, could accomplish for Zaun. Bringing them hope that change is really possible. Getting them out of their homes and their "every man for himself" mentality and get them believing in something. Wanting more for themselves. Organizing. Community services. Shared resources. Fucking unionizing idk. We see so many of Zaun's worst people but there are normal people living in normal poverty just trying to get by down there, too. Show us the Zaun Silco had become so disconnected from due to isolation and obsession.
It started with Silco, despite how flawed his methods were and how they did so much damage to the Undercity. An evil he thought was necessary because he didn't know any other truth in life besides pain and misery. But it started with him, and it gets realized by his daughter and lieutenant. Sevika is probably the closest thing he had to a friend, who stuck by his side despite how much their methods were hurting the people they were trying to liberate. The people who worked closest to him, lived closest to him, and could see the flaws in both his methods and him as a man, finishing what he started.
But instead we get Jinx committing suicide and Sevika joining the council which. Jesus fucking christ I don't even want to get myself started on that bullshit. @wetnoodle thank you for the brain worm

Can we stop for a second and think about how, in s1, Dick tells Wally "I didn't want my best pal questioning my objectivity", only for Wally to remind him "Dude, that's what a best pal is for..."
And then, in s3, Will confronts Dick, and says "[I'm talking about] Your need for a Wally West substitute. [...] You needed someone who knows you. [...] I get it, you needed someone to give you a reality check, to keep you honest, to tell you what no one else will tell the boss."
Because despite Dick being so secretive, everyone, and I mean everyone knows the impact that Wally had on Dick. Even after Wally's death, which might I remind you is what definitely pushed Dick over the edge (taking a break from the life, hallucinating his dead best friend after saying he was alright, neglecting the kids he rescued, letting Wally's name slip, etc), nobody forgot what Wally meant to Dick.
In the YJ comics, you can even see Dick in tears at Wally's funeral. Dick, the reliable, strong-willed, military-trained one, lets himself cry in front of everyone else. Wally was Dick's only anchor to reality. Not Bruce, not the others, not even being Robin - just Wally. He kept Dick humble, grounded, even in s2 after their argument, which would've hurt less if neither the two of them nor the others were aware on their symbiotic bond.
Wally's trust in Dick's plan wavering for that moment is enough for Dick to actually question his own choices, to make him question his own grip on reality, the control he has over the situation - just for a moment, but the crushing doubt is there.
And, I say symbiotic, but I must admit that in YJ we don't really get to see Dick being supportive of Wally, not as much as we see Wally being supportive of Dick, but it's heavily implied anyway.
The chemistry between Wally and Dick is undeniable. Some ship them, some don't - but what I think everyone can agree on is that, were Wally to ever return, chaos would ensue, and Dick's control would inevitably slip.

Okay! Boyd Crowder request pretty please. How about some short headcanons/ thoughts about reader wearing one of his shirts. You know those ones from S2 and 3? Like it’s a warm day and reader shows up to Johnny’s bar in some denim shorts, a crop top and one of Boyd’s shirts open with the sleeves rolled up. I think he’d loose his goddamn mind. Preferably no smut, but I know the request kinda leans into it so maybe something at the end. idk! you do you! Thank you!
Wearing His Shirt
Tumblr media
Boyd Crowder x Fem!Reader
Warnings: slight spoilers for season 2/3, alludes to smut but no actual mention, a little angst, comfort, fluff and a happy ending.
Word Count: 1.3K
A/N: Anon, this turned more into a little fic/scenario moment rather than a headcanon, I hope that's okay and you enjoy it still! I’d love to know what you all think to this, and feel free to send me more requests 💌
Tumblr media
Boyd likes to think of himself as a considerate partner. Although your relationship is still relatively new, he takes pride in picking up on the small details that bring you joy or cause you distress, often understanding your needs before you articulate them. However, with the recent acquisition of his cousin's bar and the complexities of the Black Pike deal, his focus on you has diminished more than he'd like to acknowledge. His once regular check-ins and sweet messages have become sporadic and hurried, often cut short by pressing business matters. The late nights and brief phone calls have led to him being less present both physically and emotionally, and you're reaching your breaking point.
Johnny's bar buzzes with activity, the low murmur of conversations and the clinking of glasses creating a lively symphony in the dimly lit space. The familiar scent of beer and faint traces of smoke hang in the air. As you push open the door and step inside, the room's energy seems to shift, heads turning to acknowledge your presence with a mixture of curiosity and intrigue. Their gazes, like predators sizing up their prey, linger on you, but your focus is singular.
Boyd stands behind the bar, a rag casually draped over his shoulder, the dim light casting a warm glow on his features. He engages in a conversation with a patron who is leaning heavily on the counter, gesticulating animatedly. Boyd nods along, listening intently, but the moment he spots you approaching, a noticeable change comes over him. His eyes lock onto you with an intensity that makes the bustling room seem to fall away.
As you saunter towards him, his gaze follows your every step, his attention entirely consumed by your presence. The customer’s words fade into the background, reduced to a dull hum as Boyd's focus shifts solely to you. His eyes drift down your body, taking in every detail of your appearance, from the way your eyes shine as you look at him to the confident way you carry yourself. It's as if he's seeing you for the first time all over again, his expression a mix of admiration and longing.
You feel a spark of satisfaction knowing that you can still capture his attention so completely, even amidst the chaos of his busy bar. As you reach the counter, Boyd's lips curl into a slow smile, the kind that speaks volumes without uttering a single word. You watch as he gestures with a hand to the customer he was previously talking with and you smile at the older gentleman as he rises from his seat, disappearing behind you.
Boyd leans slightly closer, his eyes never leaving yours, making you feel like the most important person in the room. In that moment, surrounded by the lively chatter and clinking glasses, it’s clear that no one else matters to him but you.
Seeing you in his shirt stirs something deep within him, a quiet sense of possessiveness that isn’t about control or dominance, but rather a satisfying feeling of connection. He appreciates the way you fill out the shirt, how the navy and grey fabric drapes over your frame, hinting at the contours beneath.
To the other men in the establishment, the glimpse of your bare thighs in those fitted cut-offs or the swell of your breasts in the thin crop underneath his shirt would undoubtedly set their hearts racing. Boyd, too, couldn’t help but appreciate that enticing sight. However, what truly struck a chord with him was witnessing your subtle proclamation of his ownership over you amidst a room bustling with other men. You belong to him, and he certainly belongs to you.
You approach him with slow, deliberate strides until just the counter is between you, his eyes fixed on you with a mixture of admiration and desire. A mischievous spark dances in his eyes as he leans casually against the bar, his fingertips tingling with the desire to caress the fabric, to revel in the warmth of your skin beneath. Yet, just before his hand extends, he halts, a silent gesture of restraint, his gaze locking onto yours with an intensity that sends a thrilling shiver down your spine. With a deliberate movement, he clasps his hands firmly on the counter, his touch reserved yet charged with an unspoken promise of what could be.
His voice, usually smooth and confident, carries a subtle huskiness as he speaks. "Well now, ain't that a sight," he remarks, his drawl laced with amusement. "Looks like my shirt found itself in the finest of company today."
"Been feeling mighty lonely lately. Ain't been getting much attention, you know," you confide in him, a playful lilt in your voice as you tilt your head. "Thought maybe borrowing your shirt might do the trick, you reckon?"
Straightening up, Boyd casts a deliberate gaze around the room, a silent command for everyone present to divert their attention away from the captivating vixen who's currently pouting at him. Once he's ensured that all eyes have shifted elsewhere, he snaps his focus back to you with a confident smirk.
"Well, darlin'," he drawls, his voice low and rough, "seems like you've succeeded in getting everyone's attention, mine included."
"Hard work, nowadays," you sigh dramatically, and he chuckles softly as he leans across the bar, his lips brushing against yours in a tantalizingly soft kiss, leaving you breathless and yearning for more. "Do I get to keep it for long?" you whisper, your voice barely audible amidst the buzz of the bar.
"Have I been neglecting you, baby?" He grins as he leans back slightly, his hand reaching out to casually adjust the rolled sleeves of his shirt that adorns your figure. "Is that why you've decided to grace my fine establishment with your beauty, nearly causing every man in this joint to suffer a near fatal heart attack, hm?"
His tone is playful, but beneath the jest, there's a hint of genuine concern. He watches you closely, searching your eyes for any sign of discontent or longing, his fingers tracing the fabric of his shirt on your skin with a tender familiarity.
You giggle, running your thumb along his forearm as he continues to absentmindedly toy with the fabric. "Maybe that was the plan all along. Finally, some quality time for me with no customers or associates around, huh? I can be your number one priority," you tease, the playful tone in your voice ringing through the air. But your laughter falters as you notice a brief flicker of something in his expression, a momentary hardening before it softens again.
His gaze meets yours, and you can see the conflict playing out in his eyes, the struggle to balance his personal and professional life. There's a vulnerability there that he rarely shows, a glimpse behind the confident façade he wears for the world. You reach out, your hand gently squeezing his arm, silently offering reassurance and understanding.
As he pulls back from you, a fleeting worry crosses your mind. Have you said too much? Pushed him too far? Though Boyd has never so much as raised his voice at you, his sudden movement sparks a flicker of concern. You watch in silence as he takes the rag from his shoulder, tossing it down onto the bar with a resolute thud, and steps out from behind the counter, closing the distance between you at last.
In that moment of uncertainty, his words wash over you like a soothing balm. "You are always my first priority," he murmurs, his voice soft and intimate, filled with a sincerity that melts away your apprehension. His arms slide under the shirt you wear, encircling your waist as he draws you close to his chest.
As you nestle against him, his gaze meets yours, and you see the earnestness in his eyes. "I'm sorry I haven't been present," he admits, his voice tinged with remorse. "But I'm going to fix that."
"I know," you assure him with a smile, your hands tenderly resting on his chest as you lean in to place a soft kiss on his cheek.
He returns your smile, his lips brushing against your ear as he speaks in a hushed tone, meant only for you to hear. "Let's go in the back," he murmurs softly, the warmth of his breath sending a shiver down your spine. "I've got a feeling I need to remind you just how much you mean to me."

~ What Heeramandi Could Have Been ~
I loved the aesthetics ngl but ig I don't even need to get started on the plotline. By the end it was a rushed chaos of jealousy turned patriotism with the tawaifs going for each other's throats but suddenly coming together and cornering the Britishers. SLB thought he has a series in his hands now so he can mix everything together but what ended up was kinda a mess. I feel like they could've made two seasons instead, focusing s1 on the feud between Mallikajaan and Fareedan with its finale episode of Fareedan realizing what extent she had pushed Mallikajaan over and the grave sin she had made her suffer (the assault by Cartwright and the british police) and then S2 for the nationalist awakening and unity of Heeramandi
Here are some plot changes/additions they could've had according to me:
• Lajjo: Honestly I feel her character was wasted when it was so intriguing. Heeramandi especially Shahi Mahal revolved around matriarchy and how women were not tied down by men but Lajjo's character was an exception where she was controlled by her one sided love for Zorawar. She suffered from erotomania delusional disorder and used alchohol to cope. I found myself calling her female Devdas and felt bad that she didn't have much role in the plot, killing her off too soon without showing much depths and repercussions adding to the story. How her decisions and addiction spiralled her down to her own doom but with a last salute
They could've maybe shown Lajjo being reckless and impulsive without Zorawar so rushing to the frontline during the nationalist movement to sacrifice herself first out of everyone because she had no other hope to look forward for in her life anyway
"Zorawar ne kabhi saath nahi diya iss tawaif ka but iss mitti ne toh hamesha diya"
A queen of darkness and heartbreak in her own right
• Alamzeb & Tajdar: They could've been soo much better. Alam had understood that Tajdar's duties were towards his country as well. She could've teamed up with him in his missions, being a strength not an obstacle in his responsibilities. Alam, Taj and Bibbo working together in the rebellion
And Tajdar didn't deserve to be beaten to death like a dog by the britishers in jail after being sent there by his own father, but an honourable one after accomplishing a mission and being remembered like Shaheed Bhagat Singh
"Inquilaab aur ishq mein koi farq nahi hain"
A pair of patriotic tragic lovers in their own right
• Qudsia: She could've had such a major role to play in the entire series. Being married into the influential nawab lineage of Baloch and being a woman of her own mind, she could've proved to have substantial value too. By her interactions with Mallikajaan, it was evident that they had known each other since long and shared some history, probably going back to the time Mallikajaan had dethroned Rehaana and began her climb on the ladder of power in Heeramandi. They could've shown flashbacks of young Qudsia and Mallikajaan meeting for the first time as well, both women from different backgrounds respecting each other since then and Qudsia reminiscing how things take a full circle now that her own grandson was in love with her friend's daughter.
When the nawabs boycotted the tawaifs of Heeramandi in the end by the orders of the British, Qudsia could've used her son, who was full of guilt and remorse anyway after indirectly killing his own son so would've finally given up and given in, to get his connections and influence to get hold on the other nawabs and then she could've given their crucial information to Mallikajaan and the tawaif freedom fighters. She could've done this to avenge her grandson, as a tribute to his bravery for their country. She could've raised Alamzeb and Tajdar's baby together with Alamzeb in the end
A queen of grief and sacrifice for the country and her grandson in her own right
• Ustaadji: He was such an impressionable character despite being in just a supporting role. The nath scene was especially pivotal where the actor playing Ustaadji reveals that during that part when Fareedan gifts him the nath, he started crying even after the scene was done and SLB was so moved by his performance that he gave him a special token. The nath is a symbol of dignity and Ustaadji being a queer character was touched by the gesture of recieving the nath especially during those times when hijras, eunuchs were prejudiced against by invaders and colonizers but not by tawaifs who knew what it was like to face disgrace in society. Ustaadji had also joked about doing a nath utrayi (official debut of a courtesan) of his own. He could've actually done that and the britishers and nawabs would've been bewildered. Ustaadji being a popular messenger and figure in the series also had had an intimate encounter with Cartwright so had the insider knowledge to breach in so in the end instead of telling Alamzeb to kill him, he could've himself delivered the final blow, as the Indian flag would've swayed in the background through the window of the mahal, asserting that his identity may have been queer but he was a part of this country too
A king of popularity and scheming in his own right
• Bibbojaan: Ik SLB has a knack for tragedy and ik tragedy was written all over Bibbojaan since she was introduced but. she. deserved. sm. more. simply because everyone needed her. And especially when hers was the role that contributed the most in the freedom struggle too. She was there for her mother, her sister, the other tawaifs, and finally her country. In the dazzling, venomous world of Heeramandi, she was a north star for everyone
After Hamid Sahab's death, she should've been the leader of the group, devising plans and executing them. And post independence during the chaos of partition, she could've been the one to unite the people of Heeramandi and Lahore, helping them all like she did
A queen of freedom and unity in her own right
• Mallikajaan: The main character of Heeramandi had so many nuances and shades within that it was so engaging to watch her. First of all it was confusing why she'd bridle her own daughter's happiness and passion but then lay her own honour on line to protect her. She knew the pain of being separated from the child when Imaad was taken away from her because of Rehaana so why did she do the same to Rehaana's daughter? Jealousy and revenge have their own ways I guess but by the end of it all Mallikajaan was in shreds and abruptly attempted on taking the side of patriotism to cleanse whatever evil deeds she had done all her life. Even after all this one could feel for her so her ending should've been better served as well
The tawaifs could've trapped the british army in Shahi Mahal after luring them in and then blown the place up. Mallikajaan would've no doubt not leave the Mahal even during the destruction, as a result sacrificing herself too but there's a deeper meaning here. The Shahi Mahal stands for power for which Mallikajaan fought, even killed and did what not, not even sparing her own people throughout the story. She did it to consume others but in the end was consumed by the all consuming power itself.
"Maine Shahi Mahal ke liye sabko tabaah kar diya. Ab yahi mera guroor hain, junoon hain, fitoor hain. Aur main bhi issi ke saath tabah hungi"
But the dignity that was stripped away from her by the british police is back in her eyes now as she stares at them all as she presses down the button of the bomb, whispering "Inquilab zindabaad"
This incident and Shahi Mahal instead would be known as "Mallikajaan's Majestic Massacre Mahal" and the biggest act of rebellion by tawaifs, sending chills down the britishers as she'd have power over them even after her death
A queen of power and twisted fate in her own right
• Waheeda: A fascinating character indeed, someone you'd have a love-hate relationship with. She was an isolated, intimidating tawaif who I can picture siding with the britishers and enemies to take down Mallikajaan, only for them all to realize she was using them for her gain
After Shahi Mahal blown up, she could've gone somewhere else in Heeramandi to establish her own mahal from scratch, finally becoming a huzoor
A queen of scars and quiet rage in her own right
• Shama: Fareedan could've given the keys of Khwabgah to her and made her that place's huzoor. She would've given a tough competition to her mother and fought for herself. Mallikajaan had once pointed out that only she had the deceit and tact rather than all her own daughters to be a true tawaif and yes she had the charm of a tawaif at such a young age so she could've manipulated the nawabs to boycott the britishers instead
A queen of a promising heroine of seduction in her own right
• Fareedan: When she realized what she had done to Mallikajaan, she could've been gradual about it because she was still close to Cartwright at that point. She could've used that advantage to extract more information and get close to other British officials, still pretending she's against Mallikajaan. That would've been a fatal attack planned with the tawaifs and freedom fighters after getting to know their weaknesses.
After the partition and realizing the futility of it all, she could've gone across the borders, already used to travelling the land when she was tricking and running away from husband to husband when she was a child, and could've built an orphanage so the children wouldn't go through what she went through as a child when she was sold off in Heeramandi
A queen of challenges rising above injustice in her own right
• Satto & Phatto: After Mallikajaan who they were loyal to, and after Fareedan, Alamzeb, everyone gone, they could've shifted out and opened a dhaba or something in Heeramandi, with Iqbal working for them now. The dhaba would've become famous and so would they and they'd look back on how every tawaif including them would dream of becoming the queens of Heeramandi and they were actually that now after so much of their trustworthy hard work that was unpaid before but is recognized now
The queens of loyalty and dreams in their own right

Rise Characterizations: The Foot Clan
Since I've posted on Cass, I figured it would be useful to post separately on the Foot Clan as a whole.
Tumblr media
So the Foot Clan's obvious goal is the resurrect The Shredder.
They have paralleled origins to that of the Hamato Clan, the distinction of which caused by Karai splitting into her own clan.
One of the only mentioned laws of the Foot Clan is: you can only take control by succeeding where those have failed.
This leaves room to interpret that there could be a history of in-fighting or struggle for power within the Foot Clan.
Tumblr media
Ranking:
To officially join the Foot Clan, a recruit must attempt an assigned solo mission, and return with success. The more missions a recruit/member go on, the more they are qualified to be raised to a higher ranking.
A foot marking on a face is implied to accompany a higher level of respect. Since Huginn and Muninn haven't raised their rank higher than the equivalent of a 2, we can assume that getting a foot print you must be a rank 3 or higher.
Tumblr media
Members:
Foot Lt. offhandedly mentioned they get recruits online in "ninja chat rooms", so it seems they prioritize quantity over quality.
Then there are the origami warriors, who serve as canon fodder. We see the origami warriors as the earliest army of the Foot Clan, but this is ruined with the turtles' involvement. I wonder what determines the value between the origami warriors and the human members.
The Foot Clan is already kind of built on flimsy foundations. Foot Lt. and Foot Brute seem to be the only ones in the know of what's going on (being able to navigate through the Hidden City, use/locate mystic artifacts, and have some knowledge of the Hamato Clan), but even they don't really understand the Shredder's motivations. It makes me question how "human" or disconnected from their humanity they are, especially considering the flaming heads and purple skin.
There is some mentioned donors of the Foot Clan (such as Jocelyn's parents), but after the Shredder was detained in Seasons 2's opening, the members of the Foot Clan kind of jumped ship. This forced Cass to find purpose elsewhere, and Foot Lt. and Brute to retreat to the shadows. When the Shredder returns, it's just the three of them. This might have to do with where they recruit from.
In-fighting and changes between leadership through violence could also lead to muddled history and values. These people aren't bound together by one purpose, just broad destructive chaos.
Names and identities don't be appeared to be valued within the Foot Clan. For the majority of the show Cassandra is referred to as "Foot Recruit", and the only names we're offered with the two leaders are "Foot Lt. and "Foot Brute". This is could be read as a gag, but again Foot Clan history is completely open to interpretation.
Tumblr media
Goals:
We've discussed their connection to Shredder's resurrection, but even beyond him what they're really aiming at it world domination and destruction. We see this reflected in Cass with her inherit fierceness, but also how she deals with the fallout of the Foot Clan by raising an army of brownie scouts to take over the world.
And then there's the inherit role of servitude that both Foot Lt. and Brute put themselves under. When Draxum dons the armor they "await" his orders (with the misunderstanding that the Shredder has risen), and when asked what they expect the Shredder to do they simply shrug and say "shred". They live to serve and destroy for a higher power beyond their understanding. A few lines that particularly stuck out to me in the movie was: "Tonight we liberate our masters from their dimensional prison. With this key we shall free them to lay waste to this world and enslave its people."
Tumblr media
And finally I'd like to discuss their relationship with the Krang and the key.
Since the events of s2 the Foot Clan appears to have taken residence in an abandoned garden, whether it was the same in which the boys had broken into to smell the corpse flower remains unclear to My findings. Their numbers have grown again for an unknown reason, and they have been collecting parts of the dimensional gate and finally key.
Tumblr media
I would also like to mention the inclusion of the boat and dock here. Especially since we were introduced to the Foot Clan through their paper thievery, and the boys had their first win against them on a similar boat that served as a paper hoard.
Tumblr media
Moving back to the Krang, they have a similar fundamental misunderstanding of their place in relation to their masters, as they did with their master the shredder. It begs me to ask the question of when exactly and how did Lieutenant and Brute start giving attention to the Krang.
They were never mentioned before during the show, but in the movie Lieutenant does refer to them by name, "We shall follow the Krang as they lead the Foot Clan to glory!" So did this reach for a new master come from desperate research on the Shredder's origins, or was that the end goal when the Shredder was released? The oni that gave Shredder is shown to be a Krang before they were even confirmed, and the armor appears eerily similar to the armor that the three Krang don in the final sequence of the movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then the source of empyrean (the source of mysticsm, yokai, mutants) is shown to come from a kraang corpse. There's so much of the Foot Clan tied to the Krang manipulating Oroku Saki, but a lot of their origins appear to be lost to history.
But again that leaves much to interpretation and wiggle room to poke at!!

LMK rant!! (It’s a long one + a story/fanfic)
I like the concept that MK isn’t Wukong type immortal. But Macaque’s version of immortal, like, consider the fact that MK, as a celebrity, has a cash number on his head for all the demons and hard core criminals to exploit.
And MK just isn’t fazed by it at all.
He can get stab, shot, anything and he’ll walk into the restaurant and everyone will be like “OMG MK THERE IS A KNIFE IN YOUR CHEST”
And MK is like “oh yeah I forgot about that. There was a sale on a drink and there was no line so I just had to!” He pulls out the knife and the wound like, instantly heals? Everyone is shocked and MK is just: 😐
MK would have a HUGE price on his head in the black market, like “yeah this is MK The Monkie Kid’s headband which he wore throughout s1-s2 ep4” or something like that idk.
And MK will just throw the knife aside and go up to his room, like nothing happened, and check his to-do list coz, come on, MK has to train with Wukong AND Macaque and have mandatory hangouts with his friends and work (only part-time now) at Pigsy’s. Boy has a lot on his mind, which he likes! He has to keep busy so he doesn’t have time to think.
That to-do list had eat and sleep on it but those two rarely get done and that’s okay! MK doesn’t want to sleep anyway, every time he sleeps she is there (whether you take that as LBD or Nuwa is up to you). In fact everyone is there in his dreams but they’re not really there you know? They’re there but their ether died, dying or have a life threatening injury’s . Every time he sleeps he see how thing could have gone differently- all the time he put their lives in danger every time he hurt them.
The time almost the whole city got mind controlled, the countless times the city got destroyed and rebuilt only to get destroyed again and again by his mistakes- The Spider Queen, LBD, The Fire- The Celestial Realm- Asure Lion- AGAIN AND AGAIN HES HURT PEOPLE no mater what he does it always leads to pain! Not to mention the time HE LITERALLY COMMITTED SUICIDE TO SAVE THE WORLD what about his friends!? They almost got erased because of him! And he died again because that snake demon pushed him into the pillar. NOT TO MENTION THE IMPENDING DOOM OF “The Chaos beyond” AND ALL THAT. OOOH VERY NICE OF YOU TO TELL ME THAT BUT WHAT DO YOU MEAN. EXPLAIN.
Huh. Got sidetracked there. Anyway-
Instead of sleeping,MK walks around all night, he feels he’s looking for something but he doesn’t know what, someone to help? His sanity? His will to live? Those therapy sessions he should be getting? He doesn’t know really. But it keeps him awake and the city is pretty big so he doesn’t have to worry about running out of places to look, so it works. And when the sun starts to rise he goes home and sneaks back into his room.
The lack of sleep starts getting to him though. He’s more snappy, annoyed, all that good stuff. Everyone else knows and try’s to not give him stuff to do so whatever adrenaline he’s on finally calms down and he gets some sleep.
MK doesn’t see it like that though.
In his mind they have finally noticed how he’s useless now. Now that he’s for filled his purpose of saving the universe he is no longer needed. They don’t need him. They hate him. He’s unwanted. No worry’s though. He’ll get out of there hair and go around helping the people of the city instead of doing what they refuse to let him do for them.
But at some point the people notice too. They stop asking him for help.
He looks awful at this point and he start to spiral a bit-
I mean if even his friends and the towns people don’t want him then, then fine! He’ll find something else to give him purpose! And to help him not sleep of cause. But sleep is something you can only out run for so long.
He runs away. You might think this seems a very strange response but MK is basically delirious by this point. He finds a spot in the wilderness where everything feels like it’s stopped. It’s so calm and peaceful, you could never imagine that this place probably had hordes of dangerous creatures pass through it.
He puts his bag down and sits, relaxing for once in a LONG time, how many days straight had he been awake for now? 4, 5, more??
He probably only sits down for a minute before he passes out of exhaustion.
He wakes up later in the day, the other probably know he’s not at home by now, they probably think he’s out in the town somewhere. But he’s not.
He doesn’t really like having to walk about with his own thoughts for too long. But eventually he reaches the edge of the forest and the sea, he doesn’t know he came here of all places. No he can’t sleep here the water is too loud right now. Perfect. Now if he could just find somewhere hidden from anyone’s line of sight he could stay there.
Walking along the shore, MK eventually finds a cove-like area. Thick trees ether side but enough wind for the waves to stay loud. Siting down he wondered what he could do to stay awake, right! The water would keep him awake and he would have to keep moving as to not get pulled out to sea!
He stripped down to his pants and hung his clothes on a tree branch so they don’t get dirty. Wading in the water he found that the sting of the coldness made him a touch more awake. It was nice out here- oops. He slipped on some seaweed and the waves pushed him over. Now that he was under the water it seamed like a different place, the fish dove in and out of the seaweed. He reached out to touch the floor of the sea, he could feel the sand and the roots of the seaweed if he focused enough. Though it felt like he there was something he was forgetting-
Oh fu- he forgot to hold his breath! Bubbles flow past his face as he realised and he pushed his way the surface. But right before a thought came to him, what if he stayed there? Under the water? He could just disappear and no one would know where he went… nonsense that was. Once he was out the water he coughed up a couple handfuls of water and headed back to shore. That was enough water for him.
What was that strange thought anyway? I mean, thinking about that would keep his mind away from thinking about other things… why would he think that? Didn’t that count as a suicidal thought? No that’s not what that was. Was it?
A buzzing brought his attention back to his surroundings. Where was it coming from? He turned back to the trees intending to find a bee or something but no his phone in his jacket pocket was ringing. Quickly shaking most of the water off his hand he grabbed his phone. It was Pigsy. Pigsy was ringing him. It was past the start time of his shift, so it was probably to yell at him or something. He didn’t want to deal with that.
He let his phone ring out. But he rang again. MK didn’t- COULDN’T deal with that right now. He turned his phone off and throw it in the water. On second thought he shouldn’t have done that. The water wasn’t safe to be in if there was electronics in it right? But what did that mater to him for? Whatever.
He quickly got dressed and picked up his bag maybe he could read one of the two comic books he bought with him. He read both of them. Over and over till he memorised the words. This wasn’t helping. It passed some time sure but it wouldn’t last long, maybe he could redraw the comic in his own style? Yeah! That was something to do.
Just then he noticed a strange voice, it was to far away to recognise or to make out what they where saying but if there were people he had to move.
He walked- ran actually, he ran. But the voice just got closer, he recognised the voice now, a voice he could recognise anywhere, HER. Whispering right in his ear.
Did you miss me~
No! This wasn’t happening- not now!
They don’t need you anymore do they?
They-! … do they really need him?
Of course they don’t need you~ you did your purpose after all. You saved the world congrats, and in doing so you’ve hurt them beyond repair. Pigsy-
No!
Red Son-
No…
Mei-!
He tripped on a root and dropped his bag, but there was no time to pick it up, he kept running.
Look at what you’ve accomplished, what could have happened instead. I could have take the fire from Mei and been unstoppable! Not even Monkie King could-
MK tripped again but he could barely stand up again. If he could find somewhere comfortable like the grass from before maybe he could have the same dreamless sleep as he did before.
He rested his head on a tree trying to calm his breaths- everything was too overwhelming!
They hate you don’t they~
He was to focused on trying not to breath in all the world’s oxygen then on stopping the thoughts. He clucked his chest. He’d be fine. Everything would be fine.
A small movement caught his eye. A butterfly… but this one looked off for some reason? Just then the butterfly burst into a cloud of golden smoke before Monkie King appeared out of it. MK shoved himself up to his feet. His heart still pounding in his ears. Monkie King grabbed his wrist and said… something???
MK’s head pounded, he couldn’t tell whether his eyes were blurred from crying or his lightheadedness. Ether way he felt he was going to pass out. He stumbled backwards, Monkie King pulled MK towards him but all it achieved was making MK more dizzy. MK’s eyes felt heavy and he fell into Monkie King’s arms. He closed his eyes and Monkie King called out. MK felt the vibrations in the other’s chest. One hand was holding firmly onto his back and the other held his head gently.
His hands were soft. It felt… right. To be here in his arms.
And finally… MK fell in to that sweet dreamless-sleep he wanted.
Wow. Idk if it was my ADHD kicking in or something but I didn’t intend to write the start of a fanfic. Damn.

Okay, so I'm not going to speak to the quality of the depiction of mental illness in Arcane But (Spoilers up to S2 E4)
The clear implication seems to be that, while he certainly cared for her a lot, Silco was REALLY BAD for jinx. The Hallucinations seem to be stress triggered. Specifically, Jinx's stressors are ideas of loss and abandonment. We see at the start of Episode 4, Jinx is in hiding with Isha and Sevika and...she's remarkably stable. Earlier in Season 2, we see some hallucination-scratches around Enforcer Vi, which, yeah, that would be terrifying. But in episode 4, she's calm, she's happy. She even says 'Jinx is dead" the same way she referred to Powder. Isha gets taken by Enforcers, and we get a wave of scratches. Scratchy Vi-Gloves. Scratchy Silco. We see Jinx pushing those away and focusing in on the rescue mission. And Jinx on the Rescue mission is...weirdly out of character. She's not the gleefully murderous chaos machine we saw in season 1. She's also not the almost suicidal figure who fought Vi in episode 3. Her attack on Stilwater lacks her usual flair. No bombs, no chaos, no spray paint everywhere. She brings a nonlethal weapon, infiltrating and breaking people out. The "Jinx" Persona, chaotic and violent, almost seems like her response to Silco. Silco's whole philosophy is about the willingness to take action. Silco himself was controlled and reserved, in many ways just as scared as Vander was, but he resented that in both himself and Vander. Jinx developed as a response to that fear, Silco's "Perfect" daughter, who acted recklessly without heed for danger or consequence. She's terrifying, look how she treats the bartender, or Sevika. Not just being chaotic, but being PERFORMATIVELY chaotic, scrawling her signature graffiti everywhere. She's also, clearly, miserable. Silco the Kingpin wants control and obedience, Silco the Revolutionary craves violence against Topside and disruption of the status quo. Jinx is desperate for his approval, and is forever torn between his contradictory desires. You'd think she's get MORE unstable and self destructive after losing Silco, but it's the opposite. Left to her own devices, she doesn't really seek out trouble (Caitlyn's strike team is hunting HER), her big "Attack" on Piltover is basically a protest art project, venting the Grey up to the well-ventilated topside in a cloud of color. She's protective and kind to Isha. She's a lot less showy than she once was, almost like the pressure to perform Jinx The Anarchist Chaos Gremlin is gone and what's left is, well, not Powder, but maybe somebody that Powder could have grown up to be.

Sydney and the bear
Is the bear doomed? Is relaying on Syd actually holding Carmy back?
Tumblr media
Maybe a controversial opinion
The reason I thought that it would be better for Syd to leave the bear is because there is a part of me that thinks that restaurant is not the place for her to be what she is destined to be. It is a place for Carmen, and that’s the reason he has insisted on not letting her ideas take place (even if he doesn’t ir subconsciously). The bear is his beast to control and heal.
The bear (restaurant) is kind of a haunted house. Cicero mentioned in s1 that just being in the building making him have bad thoughts. Carmy has hallucinated burning the place down, Richie and Mickey had a running joke about actually burning it down. The test to make sure that didn’t happen was a big plot point in s2.
In s3, while Carmy is setting the restaurant, putting everything in place, stocking books, he literally brings Mickeys ghost back in order to defend his vision of his dream, a dream they were supposed to share.
The bear is the place carmy is using to resolve his trauma and grief, and yet is the place where the frezzer is located, the metaphorical cage of s3. Is literally a simulator of Carmy’s inner world, his dreams, his sorrow, his people, the love of her life (Sydney) is presented in him 24/7. But it may also be too haunted.
I would like it to be a place that can nurture new life, a garden for everyone to grow, and not just dead ground. There is a reason Sydney’s ideas had not being able to grow properly, because the ground is so poisoned by Carmy’s trauma he doesn’t know how to remove the dead ground and replace it with a fertil one.
So yeah I would like for Carmen to be a better gardener but maybe we just need to restart in another place. Maybe the bear is just the version of himself Carmy is limiting himself to be. I would even find poetic if the pace ends up burning up as an answer to the money trap Cicero got himself into.
Syd may need to find her own ground someplace before Carmy and her can cultivate in actual equal ground.
Edit: my biggest concern
Is relaying on Sydney preventing Carmy to take responsibility for his trauma, aka the Bear ?
Sydney was the one that was able to make the team follow the brigade regimen. Her risotto dish warded them the only good review the restaurant has earned till present day. In s2 she leaded the renovations with Nat, while Carmy was messing around with Claire.
Then in s3 she was the super glue keeping the staff and the operations in as good as shape as it was possible. The literal moment carmy actually took charge of the Bear, it was only to steal them in the direction of chaos.
When Carmy say “I couldn’t do this without you” it was no my just a sentiment.
There is an argument to say that she the perpetual crutches of a person that refuses to understand they cannot move forward. Maybe Carmy only would look at his wound after Sydney is not there to keep things functioning.

So to caveat this, picking out characterization from canon is YMMV, everyone their own interpretation and it's fine. Talking about Izzy on the internet is a dangerous sport. All that being said! I think sometimes there is too much credit given to Izzy as the one controlling Ed and Ed's image and to little credit given to Ed himself. Is it there? Yes. Is it problematic? Yes. Both Izzy and Ed do some things in S2 that cross so many lines with each other and this is not a post to debate who did it worse or who suffered more for it. (because the conversation is more nuanced than I want to get into on tumblr)
What I do want to talk about though is that, for me, Edward enjoys being Blackbeard, or enjoyed once upon a time. He likes the mystique. He likes the drama. The chaos. The life. He likes to enchant people in his own spooky bwahahaha (ala ye olde smoke machines) just as much as Stede likes to swan in to swash some buckles. And his quarters on the Queen Anne's Revenge is a reflection of his personality. He's a packrat as much as Stede is. He likes cool stuff. He likes spikes.
While I do think that Izzy controls the Blackbeard image to an extent, I feel like it's rarely when Ed is around. We never see Izzy tell Ed: this is not something Blackbeard would do, in front of others. Yes we do have the scene at the end of S1 where he essentially threatens Ed to shape up or else, but other than that he doesn't directly confront him (other than being pissed about Ed risking their lives to get trounced by the Spanish and then I think it was mostly because he just hates Stede)
So, for me, again, Blackbeard is Ed, but a facet of him and a facet that he's grown out of, even if there's parts of it he still enjoys. I feel like he likes the fuckery of it, the drama of it, the absolute mad chaos-- but not if he can't participate. Like what's the point of everyone freaking out if he can't even come onto the boat and terrify them face to face? Lame.
And as for Izzy, because I don't want to get too deep into that, but Izzy-- like everyone on this show-- is a healthy mix of badass and idiot. And I think he can be personable if he wants something, he can play well with others if he doesn't feel like they are beneath him or their not an enemy (which Stede is on both counts). And I think that Izzy truly cares for people esp given what we see in s.2, but he has a lot of his own personal bullshit to shovel through and a lot to unpack. And yes, he is manipulative and he did things he really should not have and etc. But for me he's not the sole cause of anything and not the sole blame for anything. (and I have my thoughts on that situation but...again...don't wanna get into those weeds)
Ultimately for me it's super important that Ed is the main driving force behind his own legacy, his own persona, his own look. Yes it got out of hand, but divorcing all the Blackbeard aspects from Ed I feel takes away from Ed's personality. Does he get trapped in it? Yes. But it's still him. He is a man who likes to put on a show.
Anyway! If you disagree that's fine and I don't hold anything against you. :) There's plenty of room for all kinds of interpretation in this fandom.

SO MANY QUESTIONS
Now that I had time to digest there are things I NEED S3 to answer me. And I am only focused on the show's mythology here and not by trying to have answers from the books.
I want the show to follow through:
"Why."
Why did Lestat go to Paris for the trial?
He felt compelled to? He wanted revenge? He knew it was inevitable and wanted to be there for damage control? Why did he rehearse the whole thing when obviously he was reluctant in doing so?
"Why do I do the things I do?" It is a good question because he did cross an ocean to get to that trial and I want answers.
"Trial."
I feel there are still missing pieces from the trial. And what led to it at least from Lestat's perspective.
"Why."
Why did Armand got Louis out of the coffin?
I am assuming (for now at least) it was Armand and Louis could taste his blood and it was not something he was believed due to his insane state at that moment.
But at first Armand is set on convincing Louis to get out of Paris. If that was the goal why? To save him from the coven? Or to ensure that Lestat would follow Louis? Lestat obviously remained on Paris waiting for Louis and Armand knew where he was.
"Adaptability - Machinations"
Obviously Armand orchestrated the trial. He chose the coven. He then convinced Louis it was his one act of cowardice and followed Louis.
But if we take a step back you have two covens destroyed and Armand the Coven Master has no liability for it if it ever comes down to his trial. Was that the purpose all along? Half a millennia and he is adapting to circumstances or is he creating them?
"Dinner preparations - I do hope you join us - we have something special prepared for you Daniel"
COME ON NOW! You can't just expect me to believe that this was not put there for a reason? What what that THEY HAD PREPARED FOR DANIEL?
The get out of there NOW from Talamasca was because of the impending fight between Louis and Armand or because Louis and Armand has something special prepared for Daniel? Both?
"What's the observation? The boy we met in San Francisco...he is still in there somewhere...we can find him...we can have him saying what happened next in no time...we do it together"
There are still missing pieces from San Francisco.
We know that when a vampire injures themselves heavily it takes time to recuperate. So something in the timeline does not exactly add up.
Armand is strong enough to carry Daniel away on his own but we see Daniel being carried in the photo by both Armand and Louis. Even if Louis was needed which he was not (or even he wanted to be there to ensure Armand would not hurt Daniel) would he have been able to do that in his burned state?
Then there is the part where supposedly Louis asked Armand to erase his memories. Do we trust that part or we need to see more of what actually happened?
"The Fight."
So we have seen how the fight between Lestat and Louis was shown in parts in two seasons from dual perspectives. And in S1 there were parts of the fight off screen. But in the both there was chaos and blood.
Now in S2 we get the fight between Armand and Louis. It is OFF SCREEN again. We hear Armand's words but that is pretty it. After such "seismic" lie one would believe Louis would be off the rails and the fight would be monumental.
Instead we get very little damage. There is almost no blood. Armand the 500+ POWERFUL vampire is very easily subdued. The fight basically ends just before it begins. And Louis...leaves. He simply leaves with a weak warning at best and Daniel is left alone with Armand. No Rashid, no Louis. Just them.
Then - time fast forward - Daniel is a vampire and Armand is nowhere to be found.
And then Burdened out of spite, not just turned. And all that while Louis himself admitted previously to Lestat that this had been a gift and not a burden even if he felt it as such at the beginning.
Something just does not add up.
And Daniel is searching for Armand (or so we think, or so he wants Louis to believe, or actually is happening).
"It is the other - Louis (?) - you should be afraid of."
This can not just be an empty warning by the Talamasca. Why would Daniel not need to be afraid of Armand? In comparison to Louis Armand is far more powerful, manipulative and has no reason as to keep Daniel alive...right?
And then Armand that has not turned ANYONE, turns Daniel. If this is to be believed then Daniel is his first fledgling and he did it out of spite? Something still does not add up.
Plus the Talamasca knew from the start that Daniel would not get out of this interview alive. Was it a safe deduction given how vampires operate? Or they had more to go on when it comes to Daniel and his relations with the vampires?
And also by the time the book is written and published there is some undefined time in between. It has to be a lot of months AT BEST.
Too much time. You can't just have a gap like that without explaining it to the audience.
"Daniel publishes the book." Louis burned the laptop but it is no use.
So Daniel publishes the book and so far we have seen that only Louis is getting threats. Daniel is living THE LIFE out in the open where even Daniel is warning Louis to hide. As if there is an added layer of protection no one would dare cross when it comes to Daniel when in reality he is now a vampire (but he IS Armand's Fledgling) and he was the one who published the books (plus he has ties with the Talamasca).
"Blood of Akasha."
Okay enough said, we need to know. NOW.
P.s: there are by far more questions that I have but yeah...I need to stop somewhere. LOL
