I have bottom surgery scheduled in April. I am very excited about it, but I have a lot of thoughts on how the process has been.

My surgeon's clinic calls it a transmasculine surgery. My insurance does the same. Everywhere I look for information about the surgery, it is referred to as masculinizing, as a gender confirmation surgery for men and masculine people.

I am not transmasculine nor a transgender man. I am not masculine or a man at all.

I am an intersex transgender woman with ambiguous genitalia seeking urethral lengthening, a scrotoplasty, and closure of a painful vagina that doesn't go anywhere. I do not consider my wants to be masculine and don't like referring to it that way. I have been gendered a boy, a man, a sir for a lot of my life and I do not wish to be called these things. My surgeon, letters, and insurance are calling my surgery a metoidioplasty, a surgery traditionally offered to transmasculine people and men.

In order to get this surgery, I have had to repeatedly state that I am a man, or at the very least "masculine", with a phallus that needs to be "affirmed" via surgery. It is dysphoric work.

I am appreciative of my ability to access life-saving surgery through transgender medical care, but I do look forward very much to the day in which all can access hormones and surgery without it being so deeply gendered, without all of the hoops and demands to prove you are really enough of a man or a woman to justify medical care.

I look forward to the day in which genitals do not have genders.

The surgeon told me my results will be great, because his first surgeries were done on intersex people. The violence in that sentence hasn't left my mind since he said it.

I'm going to talk about some body positivity that most people don't address

Your vagina is beautiful, no matter how the lips look, the size, the shape, the coloration, whether you shave it or don't shave it, no matter what. It is beautiful.

Your penis is beautiful, no matter how long it is, the angle it may bend, what coloration it has, shaved or unshaved, cut or uncut, no matter what. It is beautiful.

There's an absurd amount of social pressure to have "perfect" genitalia, even if most people don't talk about these things in most settings. This type of pressure can be felt, and can lead to serious body dysphoria.

Of course, bottom surgery is an option, but not everyone can afford that type of procedure, and additionally, any type of surgery can be extremely scary for most people. Nobody should be ashamed for not undergoing bottom surgery out of fear of risk.

While some of us are stuck with the bodies we have, it is important to not be ashamed of our "imperfections", and instead love what makes us so unique, and therefore, beautiful.

And yes, this includes parts of the body that most people (sex ed classrooms) refuse to talk about.

Feliks being afraid of vampires and werewolves is kinda funny bcs of two things:

Historically, Jogaila, the prince of Lithuania, was believed to be a werewolf, that's why Poles offered a bath to him to check his genitalia to see if he actually was a werewolf. As you suspect, he was not. So the "show me your dick and balls" in hetalia is accurate! But also, Liet is a werewolf anyway so.

Feliks has a boyfriend that he has to learn not to be afraid of because of his fear of wolves respectfully as well as forced fear by Vatican of werewolves.

Vatican also very much forced the fear of vampires, the undead before zombies.

And Feliks' best friend is Romania and his little brother Moldova. Both canonically vampires? And come on I never saw anybody that didn't headcannon them as vampires.

So yeah it's kinda funny if Feliks is afraid of both werewolves and vampires.

I've been seeing a lot of intersex people on tumblr making the claim that you cannot be born with both a penis and a vagina, and I think that what they are trying to do is fight against the Hermaphrodite stereotype - which involves being born with a "fully formed and fully functional" (under perisex ideas of genital normality - our genitals may be fully formed and fully functional to us even if others do not consider them so) penis and vagina.

The thing is, it's been slowly evolving from correcting misinformation to actively spreading it and erasing the lived experiences of those of us with ambiguous genitals.

I think that part of the reason for this is that most folks in the intersex community trend more towards either side of the genital spectrum, and those of us born with more ambiguous genitals are less common, and those of us who were allowed to remain ambiguous beyond childhood and into adulthood are even less common, much less speaking about it regularly on tumblr. As such, you get a lot of generally well-meaning intersex people just sort of making guesses as to what that experience is like and playing a sort of game of telephone about it.

You can be born with both a penis and a vagina, it just may not look or function the way perisex people would expect a penis or vagina to look or function.

A hypospadic micropenis is still a penis. A shallow vagina that doesn't go anywhere is still a vagina. There are plenty of combinations out there, they just don't fit perisex ideas of normality or what might immediately come to mind when we talk about someone having "both sets of genitals".

This isn't even getting into our own perceptions of ourselves and how we label our genitals, as well. Just like how a transmasc individual may refer to his bottom growth as a dick, intersex folk label their genitals a variety of different ways regardless of what others think a penis, vulva, vagina etc "should" look like or what they're "medically" considered to have.

Anyway, just something I've noticed and wanted to talk about a bit. We can combat stereotypes without throwing each other under the bus.

If your transition goal is to have a complete removal of all your internal and external genitalia, there is a real surgery that people get to do that. It’s called genital nullification.

It’s also called nullectomy or nullo.

It’s not a very new or super complicated surgery. Everything is taken out/taken off and you’re left with just a hole for your urethra (where you urinate out of). The urethra may be moved as part of surgery. If you research the procedure you’ll also probably hear them talk about urethral shortening, because nullification is mostly done on cis men/transfems/nonbinary patients who require a penectomy as part of the surgery.

Now don’t get this for an aesthetic or because you like how dolls look. It takes 6-8 weeks of recovery and is as serious a decision as any other bottom surgery. More info is here and here. This website has some info and pictures (graphic warning) of nullification along with phallus-preserving vaginoplasty, another nonbinary surgery.

I think the best way to describe my transition goal is. I want my body to be a Swiss Army knife of genitalia.

I have boobs and I have a vagina and I have a penis. Multiple in fact.

Who needs a lockpick when I can fuck the door with my cockpick until it opens. Need a fire pit out? My fire hose penis can take care of of it. Hat rack? I got a penis for that. Who needs a bag when I have my purssy or my sack tits.
