I have bottom surgery scheduled in April. I am very excited about it, but I have a lot of thoughts on how the process has been.

My surgeon's clinic calls it a transmasculine surgery. My insurance does the same. Everywhere I look for information about the surgery, it is referred to as masculinizing, as a gender confirmation surgery for men and masculine people.

I am not transmasculine nor a transgender man. I am not masculine or a man at all.

I am an intersex transgender woman with ambiguous genitalia seeking urethral lengthening, a scrotoplasty, and closure of a painful vagina that doesn't go anywhere. I do not consider my wants to be masculine and don't like referring to it that way. I have been gendered a boy, a man, a sir for a lot of my life and I do not wish to be called these things. My surgeon, letters, and insurance are calling my surgery a metoidioplasty, a surgery traditionally offered to transmasculine people and men.

In order to get this surgery, I have had to repeatedly state that I am a man, or at the very least "masculine", with a phallus that needs to be "affirmed" via surgery. It is dysphoric work.

I am appreciative of my ability to access life-saving surgery through transgender medical care, but I do look forward very much to the day in which all can access hormones and surgery without it being so deeply gendered, without all of the hoops and demands to prove you are really enough of a man or a woman to justify medical care.

I look forward to the day in which genitals do not have genders.

The surgeon told me my results will be great, because his first surgeries were done on intersex people. The violence in that sentence hasn't left my mind since he said it.

Feliks being afraid of vampires and werewolves is kinda funny bcs of two things:

Historically, Jogaila, the prince of Lithuania, was believed to be a werewolf, that's why Poles offered a bath to him to check his genitalia to see if he actually was a werewolf. As you suspect, he was not. So the "show me your dick and balls" in hetalia is accurate! But also, Liet is a werewolf anyway so.

Feliks has a boyfriend that he has to learn not to be afraid of because of his fear of wolves respectfully as well as forced fear by Vatican of werewolves.

Vatican also very much forced the fear of vampires, the undead before zombies.

And Feliks' best friend is Romania and his little brother Moldova. Both canonically vampires? And come on I never saw anybody that didn't headcannon them as vampires.

So yeah it's kinda funny if Feliks is afraid of both werewolves and vampires.

If your transition goal is to have a complete removal of all your internal and external genitalia, there is a real surgery that people get to do that. It’s called genital nullification.

It’s also called nullectomy or nullo.

It’s not a very new or super complicated surgery. Everything is taken out/taken off and you’re left with just a hole for your urethra (where you urinate out of). The urethra may be moved as part of surgery. If you research the procedure you’ll also probably hear them talk about urethral shortening, because nullification is mostly done on cis men/transfems/nonbinary patients who require a penectomy as part of the surgery.

Now don’t get this for an aesthetic or because you like how dolls look. It takes 6-8 weeks of recovery and is as serious a decision as any other bottom surgery. More info is here and here. Is there any abo world building you have established in your au that you would change now after time? Or are you pretty happy with it? I really like your world building, and I always end up changing my own in the end

Great question! I would probably go back and do more world building ahead of introducing the presentation structure I used in my room full of coral series. It hinges on single sex designations “presenting” from baseline genitalia and while I had it all in my head, I realize in hindsight that I didn’t explain it as well as I could have. That a single sex omega could exist as a pup, could present, and still be male or female — that kind of stuff. I didn’t want to default to making male omegas dual sex or deal with anal genitalia, but I didn’t flesh out that process as much as I could have in the story itself — people had to ask me about it on here, which I feel bad about.

I would probably figure out beta sex a little bit more in that same framework. I haven’t written myself into a corner necessarily but I do recognize that I haven’t given betas their due when it comes to pleasure, since the current framework posits betas as defenders and child rearers while alpha/omega pairs copulate. I don’t necessarily disagree with that, I think it makes sense in pack hierarchy, but I still want to give them something, you know? Something Alfred could have had with Martha and Thomas. Etc.

But overall yeah! I’m very happy. I think I put a unique spin on some common a/b/o tropes and I’m proud of that part. There’s lots of lampshading in my fics and that brings me great joy.

Do trans women use binders for their penises? Like how trans men do with their breasts? And if so... Ouch.
