Armand & “accidentally” fucking his life up, a thesis:
- he invites Lestat to the Paris cult knowing full well Lestat is gonna flounce in all liberated in a slutty waistcoat and tempt everyone away
- he’s tired of leading the Paris theater nerds so he lets Louis undermine his authority by not having a bedtime or whatever
………Are you ready for the kicker?
- he allows Daniel “Divorce Causer” Molloy into his home to interview Louis again knowing. FULL WELL. That Daniel is going sniff out the lies and get Louis to break up with him.
!!!!!!! Planting lipgloss in your car so your gf will break up with you type behavior. “I could not prevent it” bitchass I love you so much

Outsiders gang headcanons
(That really aren’t headcanons because im a ponyboy fictive and just sharing random memories)
Johnny didn’t talk much, but if you got him talking about cats it would never stop, real lot of fun facts saved in his brain
Especially calico cats? He really liked calico cats, like the pattern or something
Ponyboy hated the blonde cut hair, but always left it alone since he felt like that was the last thing he’d ever have of Johnny
The Shepard gang did not like chocolate (I don’t know how)
Dally had this secret rivalry with everyone that only he knew about, where he made everything into a competition he would win
Darry is the only person to say “I wouldn’t get addicted to (insert thing), id just stop” and be right about it
Ponyboy didn’t like alcohol because it was beer, hand him a fruity drink like a strawberry daiquiri and he’ll be all over it
He still wouldn’t drink it regularly though, insert “that’s a girls drink” and he has enough addictions under his belt already
All of the Curtis siblings have chronic migraines but deny it
Soda once made himself cry in a movie by going “I will cry if this happens in the movie”
He wasn’t even sad he was borderline laughing
Pony and curly both have various scars on each other from doing extremely dumb things
Pony would say it’s stupid, but curly would call him chicken so then he’d do it anyways
Johnnys favorite place to sleep if it was late and he needed to get out was under a huge oak tree not to far from the house (if he didn’t crash at the Curtis house of course)
Speaking of the Curtis house, it was a one floor ranch house with very little rooms. It was a 4 bed 1 bath, but one of the rooms got turned into Darry’s work room
If any of the boys got asked the “bring only one thing to a deserted island” question, they’d all say hair oil with no hesitation
Half of the dirty things dally said he didn’t know what he was talking about and picked it up from a movie
If Johnny were alive today he’d have one of those raccoon tail hair styles (probably blue)
Darry would listen to Taylor swift
Pony started a running joke of saying “don’t tell darry” over everything (ex. He pours himself a soda in front of Darry and says “don’t tell Darry” as loudly has he possibly can) ((he gets jokingly shoved for this every time))
Pony is not the type to remind the teacher of homework, more like confusedly bring his homework to the teacher after class is done and walk away
Almost everyone had a specialized nickname for eachother, some that only a specific person could call them and if someone else tried they’d get the tar beaten out of them
In pony and sodas room the closet was full to the brim of snacks in emergencies
It also had an ash tray only pony knew about in case he wanted a smoke
This post is gonna be a mile long if I continue but I might do a part 2 some day
Edited a few things because I wrote it at 1am and it had issues

The Garashir canonization is crazy and feels like a full circle moment for me. Because 2 years ago TO THE DAY today I got into Star Trek for the first time.
My best friend H @clinttbartton shared some Garashir posts with me and while I was initially put off and had thought little of Star Trek for years, the moment I watched some of Julian & Garak's scenes, including the first one, I realized this was a show that I had greatly misjudged.
2 years later and Star Trek, especially fandom itself, has given me so much entertainment and joy I had no idea I was missing and now couldn't imagine being without.
Here's to a franchise with a lasting legacy that has made my life better and to the gays that introduced me to it. Cheers.

“you have to show everyone that you were right and they were wrong.”
i’m so fascinated by what gwen says here because there are ways in which it feels almost antithetical to a more surface level reading of her character (that does, at times, feel like the one the show wants us to engage with.) she doesn’t say that exposing valiant is the Right Thing To Do or appeal to a sense of honor or justice in the broader sense, even though i’m sure she does think that and believe those values apply here.
what she says here is… so self-interested, on merlin’s behalf. she believes him pretty implicitly (she asks once if he’s telling the truth, he says yes, she doesn’t question it) and her main reaction is “you have to do something to prove you were right.”
and i think part of that comes from just, like, really liking merlin right away / seeing the good of humanity in him (something i will maintain forever is mutually a big part of what they see in each other) and being offended on his behalf, feeling that he’s been Wronged. so like, justice is at play in her mind here, but it’s on a far more personal, intimate level than just being about Doing What’s Right.
and i also don’t think it’s a reach to say gwen might be doing some projection here. it might not have been on the same level/with the same stakes, but how many times do you think gwen had to bite her tongue when she knew she was right about something? morgana is kind to her as an employer at this point—far kinder than many nobles would be to their servants. but there is still and uneven balance to their dynamic, and even if morgana is willing to hear her out about certain things, in front of other nobles, in front of court, in front of uther—gwen knows her word doesn’t count for much, either.
#morgana in s1-s2 while very well-meaning and being much Kinder than many of her noble counterparts is . still not as revolutionary or#non-conforming to the system as she and certain aspects of fandom want to believe#but that’s a different post#merlin rewatch#mergwen#merlin x gwen is about two things: remembering there is good in humanity#and class solidarity#gwen really goes ‘you have to tell them told you so i can live vicariously through you’#real of her#gwen#merlin#morgana#morgwen#for good measure#* mine#textposts#meta

is there any aromantic themed folklore stories?
I think that very much depends on your personal definition. Of course there are plenty of folktales that do not include romance, but for me that usually isn't quite enough to consider them aromantic. For me the folk- and fairy tales that feel the most aromantic to me, are the ones where the plot makes me expect there will be a love interest along the way or a wedding at the end, but instead there is neither.
Here are the ones I've taken a personal liking to so far:
The Shoes That Were Danced to Pieces
Source: Cape Verdian folktale, collected by E. Parsons from Antonio Soares Rosa in 1916-1917.
Content warnings: princess-shaming.
Character I read as aro: The hero.
Why: He answers a royal proclamation that states that whoever is able to find out how the princess wears out seven pairs of shoes every night can marry her and have half the kingdom. When he accomplishes this, however, he declines the marriage and returns home to build his mother a new house.
Read it: Full text online.
How The Devil Married Three Sisters
Source: Italian folktale, published by Widter and Wolf in 1866.
Content warnings: fairy tale violence, abusive spouse.
Character I read as aro: The youngest of the three sisters.
Why: While the first sister is pleased by her handsome suitor (the devil) and the second sister is also described as "wooed and won" by him, the third agrees to marriage only because he is rich. She proceeds to save her sisters, outsmarts the devil, and they all get away.
Read it: Full text online.
David Cotterson
Source: Danish fairy tale, collected by Jens Kamp, published in 1879.
Content warning: suicide contemplation, fairy tale violence.
Character I read as aro: The hero, David Cotterson.
Why: His biggest desire is to become a sailor and see the world. In his biggest adventure he defeats a seductive witch, saves a prince who has been cursed to be a dog. He then decided what he wants most of all is to got home to his loving parents, which he does.
Read it: Offline in this book, or my summary online.
The Squire’s Bride
Source: Norwegian folktale, collected by Asbjørnsen and Moe, published 1841-1844.
Content warning: attempted arranged marriage, attempted kidnapping.
Character I read as aro: The heroine, a farmers daughter.
Why: She's being courted by an old, rich squire. She rejects him, not for a better (kinder, younger) suitor, but simply because she doesn't want him. He doesn't back down so she humiliates him to teach him a lesson.
Read it: Full text online.
The Three Brothers
Source: German folktale, collected by the brothers Grimm, published 1857.
Content warning: ends with natural death.
Characters I read as aro: The protagonists, three brothers.
Why: Their father tasks them to learn a trade to show who deserves to inherit their family home. They become a master barber, blacksmith and swordsman, and the third inherits the house. But because they love each other so much they decide to share the house. They live happily and grow old together, after which all three die close together and are laid in the same grave.
Read it: Full text online.
Diarmaid and Grainne
Source: Celtic legend, Scottish variant collected by H. MacLean in 1859, from Alexander Macalister.
Content warning: tragedy, coercion, murder of protagonist.
Character I read as aro: The warrior Diarmaid.
Why: He has a love spot on his face, which he keeps hidden to prevent women from falling in love with him. Grainne (who is married to his lord Fionn) sees it and falls for him, but he refuses to go with her until she outsmarts him and places him under obligation to do so. He goes with her but they live in a house with separate beds. Grainne betrays Diarmaid for yet another man and Diarmaid ends up being killed by Fionn before he realises that Diarmaid has never touched his wife.
Read it: Full text online.
Slawa
Source: Romanian fairy tale, found in a German collection from 1977, sadly unsourced.
Content warning: attempted kidnapping, fairy tale violence.
Character I read as aro: The heroine, Slawa
Why: She is a poor young woman so beautiful that the cruel tsar wants to marry her. She keeps refusing and he gets violent, so she resorts to defeating him with magic (which she has because she was once a doll brought to life through the love of her parents), so she is free to go see the world.
Read it: You can download my translation here.
King Bear
Source: Danish folktale, collected by Jens Kamp, published in 1879.
Content warning: animal death.
Character I read as aro: One of the two protagonists, the eldest of two brothers.
Why: The older brother doesn't fully understand why his younger brother has fallen in love with an imprisoned princess, but helps him win her hand anyway. He stays happily at the royal court, but never marries himself.
Read it: Offline in this book.
And just because I still love them, I did write two literary fairy tales with aro protagonists myself some years ago:
The Man and the Mermaid, in which a man meets a mermaid after losing the woman he thought he wanted to marry.
The River Sprite, in which a woman helps a river sprite who is determined to repay her.
Hope there's something on this list that makes you happy!
#I really tried to format this in a way so that it wouldn't need a readmore#but I couldn't#I guess that's a good thing#my list has grown since last time#aro representation#and probably also#ace representation#for good measure#folklore#fairy tale#fairy tales#aromantic#aromanticism#sources#I'm hopeful there will be more examples in Gonzenbach's work#but I haven't read them all yet
