Can we please take a moment to appreciate this latest chat photo?
I would make Solomon talk to every cat for me. Be my kitty translator I need to know all about that precious baby’s life.
Barbatos, darling, give me those books they look stupid heavy. He calls that paperwork in the chat.
I love them both so much it makes me silly.

apart from the verbal sparring and the visual implication of the parted curtains, what i enjoyed about this scene is how ambessa truly writes caitlyn off as someone she can completely manipulate.
we are familiar with ambessa's 'blood for blood' mentality when it comes to family and, in some way, that is true for caitlyn especially in the first act. but now that all things are said and done, caitlyn wavers and ambessa senses this, too; the conviction is there but the resolve requires fuel. so ambessa stokes the fire, literally and figuratively, choosing the words 'anger' and 'sorrow' to remind caitlyn what she should feel, appealing to caitlyn's grief yet again.
the problem is, ambessa sees too much of herself in caitlyn that she underestimates caitlyn's talent for deduction. and that is clear in ambessa's reaction in the end of the act.
i know we have our reservations against caitlyn but i think we can somewhat agree that her mind, when put to work in things unrelated to autocracy, is simply brilliant.

Btw I realised that there was no doodle of Karl for months here. But to be honest there is no cooperation between us for now. No joke, that’s how it is now. And don’t get me wrong I still love him, just waiting for better times. Something more than just boost doodles maybe, that would be fun to try.
Edit: but if you feel like suggesting something, hit me up with it. Just saying :>

Musings on Cyno/Alhaitham/Candace + language
.
Candace tells Cyno he sounds like a textbook when he speaks in the desert tongue. More identifiably rainforest than passing merchants or even some scholars. Cyno confides that Cyrus never told him from where in the Sands he's even from; no tribe to seek out, no dialect to learn from, no folktales or traditions to even remember.
Candace starts helping him learn the Aaru dialect since. "Lending" it to him. Maybe Aaru Village wasn't the home he was born in, but she made sure it was the second home he was always welcome in.
.
Cyno taught Alhaitham simple Matra code when he was Acting Grand Sage. "Status check", "ok", and so on, in case of emergencies. Alhaitham first uses this in the Grand Sage office after a long day; stress had stolen from him speech and sign and writing, leaving behind weak taps and scratches of "escape needed".
Cyno starts asking "status check" more often since. Still in code. Even after he returned to being Scribe, even during meet ups with friends, an escape to silence can still be necessary.
.
Alhaitham asks Candace why she writes to him in Vedanagari script in personal letters. Her calligraphy is more stilted compared to her writing in Deshret script. Candace admits she craved a connection her father who was an Akademiya scholar; she couldn't spend much time with him growing up due to her Guardian training.
Alhaitham starts writing more letters to her since. Longer letters. About the Akademiya, calligraphy, and maybe someone who knows what it's like to seek your parents through written word.

I think one of my favorite Jedtavius headcanons would be probably that Jedediah can bake and he bakes apple pies often times because he knows that those are Oct's favorites. Omg

I see your gay uncles of the straw hats Jimbrook and raise you old, gay, heartbroken, pirate captians who find a loving, romantic relationship in each other as they watch over a group of chaotic youngsters.
Because Brook and Yorki had a heartbreaking goodbye, and Brook spent 50 years mourning, but now he has a second chance. He wasn't expecting anything, but then, lo and behold! A handsome, kind, capable fish man enters stage right, and Brook is smitten. Here is someone who understands the grief of losing a captian and partner, then having to take their place to hold the crew together, but ultimately watching thier crew fall apart or suffer due to factors outside their control.
For Jimbei the last few years have been a whirlwind of chaos. He was looking forward to a new adventure full of chaos of his own making and choices. Now, enter stage left, this fantastic, enigmatic, adorable skeleton (and he's a musician!), who is a wonderful presence on a ship full of younger pirates. Jimbei never really moved on from the loss of the Sun Pirates, and hasn't had time to mourn all the friends he's lost in the past few years. But now he finds companionship and comfort in Brook. Someone who doesn't expect him to move on, let's him reminisce, but keeps him from getting stuck in his mourning. He's never thought of romance seriously before, but now he finds himself wanting.
The two meet in the middle, center stage on a ship of dreams as they forge a new one together. They still keep and work towards their individual dreams but find pieces of each other in them. Brook looks forward to the day he can introduce Laboon to Jimbei, and Jimbei has promised to translate the whale's words for Brook. Jimbei will see freedom for his people and finds motivation in every new song Brook writes and story he tells. Together, they find peace, calm, and rest. They find excitement, companionship, and a harbour in the other after years of storms.

what is a moomin
LMAO WAIT THIS IS THE BEST ASK I'VE EVER GOTTEN
Okay, right, moomins are a fictional species of troll(?) which look kind of like if you constructed a hippo entirely out of marshmallows. A diagram for your perusal:
Tumblr media
They're from a long running Finnish kids series (The Moomins. Self-explanatory), which was created by Tove Jansson, a queer woman who never lived to see the legalisation of gay marriage.
As a result, the series has quite a bit of queer subtext, like one of the series’ monsters being an allegory for her fear someone would discover her sexuality, and one character being heavily based off of her partner of 40 years.
Anyway, it’s had tonnes of books, cartoons, movies, etc, but the way I properly got into it recently (rather than just being aware of its existence), was this YouTube video:
youtube
(Oh yeah, the 2019 series is gay as fuck)
Anyway. Uh. Thank you for coming to my TED-Talk

okay wait absolute crackpot idea right now
but lemme lay out some quotes real quick
“So the night will reign, for the choice of honor is life . . .”
“Three of sixteen ruled, but now the Broken One reigns.”
To separate the power from those who are attached to the Physical Realm… that should frighten you. It is not so terrible a thing for part of me to despise you. But for the power of a god to? Dangerous. For all of us.
....what if the Night was broken into the Unmade, reassembles herself through Ba-Ado-Mishram, and takes the Roshards?
perhaps the Night of Sorrows is actually the Night bearing Odium's sorrows....

I think one of the things I enjoy most while writing is exploring the emotional development of the characters. Bi-Han has been through a lot since the first story, and he is actually one of the most challenging characters for me to write. Balancing his reactions without breaking character is difficult, but it’s also why I find him so rewarding to write. Introducing emotions to an emotionless man while staying true to his character is a challenge in itself, so I’m choosing my words carefully and writing based on Bi-Han’s logic. This chapter is nearing 5k words and I’m only halfway through. Just like in the first story, each chapter will probably be around 10k words or more, so I hope you’re ready for some long reads! 😅
Here’s a small sneak peek from Bi-Han’s pov;

The Vees ABSOLUTELY do the rainbow capitalism bs irl companies do, except all of them are ACTUALLY queer so its even more effective than it is irl bcuz "they wouldn't take advantage of us, they're gay too!" Unfortunately rhey are still takinf advantage of queer people. Diversity loss the evil capitalists profiting off of your identity are all some flavor of queer.

I know we all like to think that Solomon probably has a back up plan for making MC immortal, but do you ever consider how he would be if MC just stayed mortal and aged normally?
He notices when they start to get little aches and pains. He sees the streaks of grey that start to show up in their hair. In the blink of an eye, they're using a cane and their entire head is silver - just like his.
You know he would dote on them in their older years. He would make them special canes or walkers. He would make them potions to help with arthritis. He would come up with magical ways to deal with all the inconveniences of their aging body.
He would find ways to help them with their day to day without making them feel like they're too old to be independent.
Solomon would cherish those years. Every day he would have these complicated feelings about it. Yes, he's watching his adorable apprentice, the one he loves, grow old, leading inevitably to their death. But he's also seeing them experience a phase of life that he will never get to. And all the while, they'll still be younger than him by thousands of years.
And I think that for as long as it exists, he would visit MC's grave. Probably yearly, on the anniversary of the day he lost them.
There's been a lot of speculation about that card where he's crying at someone's grave and who that grave belongs to. But what if that grave is ours?

You don't really miss them. You just miss what they could've been and what they meant to your self esteem. You'll always be better when you realize you never needed them at all.

I think we should lean into the ghosty side of fnaf yk Of course in the original Pizzarias (FNAF 1 & 2) there are probably reports of kiddish laughter after hours, but I mean more so in the SB era, like in the books so much death has taken place in the PizzaPlex, so much energy is always constantly in motion so like maybe during closing, a staff member will see a little girl with ice cream in her hands, next to the Cupcake shoppe, and while they try to alert someone on their walkie talkie, she vanishes, Maybe another staff member will see a girl with a green bracelet next to the rockstar row FNAF 1 stage recreation, but she's only there in passing blinks, And sometimes there's a small boy with tears on his face looking at the golden Glamrock Freddy statue in the lobby, looking at it with a face that shows they have some sort of history, and despite the tears, his expression only has a resigned contentment on it, and on the nights where Freddy is fully deactivated, a slightly older looking boy stands next to him, with a vintage looking Fox mask on, and when approached, they look at the staff, nod along, follow behind, and then disappear into thin air
