One of the biggest wins in Wind and Truth that I don't remember people talking about is the fact that Venli gets her people's land back! She goes bravely forward into the unknown, she looks actively for opportunities to help her people, she adapts to the situation, she negotiates with the Queen of Alethkar and she plays the Fused and she WINS!!

The listeners will no longer be starving in the chasms. They will be safe from Odium and safe from the Alethi. They will be the OWNERS of the land. They'll get money to rebuild!

Thanks to Venli and Jasnah, the Alethi and listeners of the Shattered Plains will be more free than anyone, singer or human, under Odium's rule. The listeners aren't kicking any of the Alethi out--they will coexist. Moving forward, the listeners will be compensated for the use of the resources that were taken from them, and the Alethi will have people to trade their resources with! It's a win win for the Alethi and the listeners.

What amazing, meaningful work for Venli specifically. What a huge win for the listeners after so many years of isolation, pain, and loss. They have been through so so much and now they don't have to hide anymore. They're free. They're free!

Dalinar as Genghis Kahn (More Subutai in military strategy and position. But I did intentionally include one Genghis myth for the history lovers in Dalinar's backstory. This is because one inspiration for the Alethi is the Yuan Dynasty, where the Mongols had to learn to rule China.)

Shards as the Greek (or insert your favorite) pantheon (Kind of, kind of not. More uplifted humans in over their heads. I wasnt looking at panthons here as they don’t really involve one another.)

Dead_IM: Was the “Adon” portion in Adonalsium chosen because “Adon” means lord or god in Hebrew?

Would the same be true of Noh”adon”? Brandon Sanderson: Yes to both. I go to Hebrew and Arabic a lot for Roshar. The goal is not to create a full parallel, but to indicate a lot of these words have roots in world to older language variants that people would recognize on a subconscious level, same as we kind of recognize these morphemes.

Having a good natured debate with a friend regarding Wind And Truth, and am thus needing to poll the larger fandom.

And it worked

Kaladin not being able to make Szeth open up about his feelings and thinking "Oh no, this is harder than I thought it was going to be, I guess I'm going to have to make stew" like it's his secret weapon got me laughting so hard. Not only that, but the poor thing not being able to cook nearly killed me. I feel his Bridge Four spirit, but the whole scene was just so comedic.

Ok, so the Horneaters guarded Cultivation's perpendicuclarity and could go into Shadesmar whenever they wanted, right?

Then Shallan gets stuck in that realm and immediately goes to where the perpendicularity was.

What if, for some reason (don't know how or why) Rock had also been put through the perpendicularity and was stuck in Shadesmar? And then they meet and spend the next time between books completely bonding?

Imagine Rock being so overprotective of her baby.

Imagine him telling that baby stories about Bridge 4 and Kaladin.

Imagine him being named the baby's godfather.

And, more importantly in my opinion, imagine how much soup she would get.

Kaladin had to become a herald because he is the only one who can compete in the suffering Olympics with these other herald assholes, but also he is enlightened enough to know that the suffering Olympics is dumb and no one should be comparing trauma.

I made myself cry thinking about Kal seeing Oroden again and how tough it will be to watch him get older and to miss most of it and to eventually be alone again ... and maybe I need to put the books down for a while! But seriously! 😭😭😭😭

There is a good chance that Kaladin will come back to Roshar when Oroden is the same age as Tien was when he died.

We're working on that. Redemption arcs and stuff. Right now we're still pretending that everything is fine and nothing any of us ever did was bad. Kaladin is trying to slowly get us to stop doing that and acknowledge our mistakes and recognize why we made them and that they don't define us.
