Well, folks … last day of Three Dog Night Week.  I enjoyed it and I hope you did too … though I know our Brit friends are cheering that it’s over.  I really thought I’d find at least one TDN song they liked, but nope … nary a one!  Anyway, as I’ve done with my last few artist weeks, I’m using this last ‘wrap-up’ day to play a few that I didn’t get to.  Just a short background blurb about each and…

Charlie: "I get the feeling you want this to be an angry yell."

Vaggie: "A good angry. Yelling can feel REALLY good, babe, and doesn't have to hurt anyone."

like, its hard for both, but klay leaving was his choice. his own path, right. he can’t regret anything because he’s the one who made the decision to leave. he can’t look back, would never survive in dallas if he did. but for steph its like. like, okay you can’t tell klay not to go, can’t tell him to stay— it’s unfair to beg him to stay when he’s so miserable and you can see the org turning their back on him. know it’s not right. can’t ask klay not to go, because how can you ask him to stay when u see it’s destroying his love for the game? how can u ask him to stay by ur side when it would ruin klay’s longest love? so u let him go even if u spent ur whole career with each other dreaming about how you’ll retire together, go into the hall of fame together. the past few years had been hard but u always had each other, and now u have to mourn the loss of him even if he’s right there in front of you, defending against you.

and u have to see him in a new jersey, a new number. see him embrace a new city, new team because he’s klay, and he doesn’t live with regrets. because he’s klay, and everything you love about him has everything to do with why he had to leave. had to leave you. so now you have to see him hit threes against you and foul you— things u’ve done against each other for years.. in practice. except it’s real now, it matters now. and in your first season against each other you’ve already played three games against each other and it never gets any easier, feels like every game against each other is do or die. can’t get your head on completely right because it shouldn’t be like this, shouldn’t have ever been like this. except it is. and is and is.

Somehow, it pains me to cut people off. Like the feeling of contemplating because they've been a part of me. Tolerating because they played the important roles in my life. But then came disrespect and betrayal.

It's too easy to find a reason to leave them behind and go forth on our own. But no one talks about how hard it is to decide whether you'd do it or not. You trust them like they're your family. You knew you gave out your best to please them. You made efforts to keep them. Only to clamp your heart with the brokenness.

I feel hurt that I need to cut off the significant persons in my life just to save myself. I guess, not everything is worth fixing.

People really just come and go.

I LOVE Richie asking about job opportunities at the restaurant and then being turned down!!!!! He’s right!!! He’s needed elsewhere.

He’s been blessed, he’s learned and grown and been transformed, but he doesn’t get to stay in the posture of just being the one to receive—now it’s his job to go home and share that transformation with others.

He’s gotta go back to the same place, the place where he’s suffered, but he is not the same. The place doesn’t have to be the same. He can bring the transformation with him, and home can be transformed too.
