Crack AU treated seriously: Diomdes goes to Ithaca with a twist

So this would generally be your typical Diomedes going to Ithaca AU. Presumably after getting exiled (? Is there a better word for it?), instead of going to modern day Italy he goes to Ithaca under the impression that he’ll see Odysseus there. But, of course he doesn’t because The Odyssey is happening. The twist that makes NO SENSE and is just purely my want to see my platonic rarepair happen (Telemachus and Neoptolemus/Pyrrhus), and the twist is: for whatever reason, Neo is there with Diomedes. Don’t ask why because I could not explain to you a good reason to make this happen lmfao

Story elaborated below but it’s a little long be warned

I like the dynamic of Neoptolemus and Diomedes, mostly because in so many ways as soldiers Diomedes foils/contrasts Achilles but in so many ways parallels his son. Diomedes gets on begrudgingly with Neo, and I could go on a whole other rant on a different post about some fake dynamics/scenarios for just them, but the main point in this post is that Neo somehow SOMEHOW tags along with Diomedes. They reach Ithaca together and meet Penelope and Telemachus.

They greet Diomedes and Pyrrhus with good courtesy, but the elephant in the room of “hold on where tf is your husband??? he was so eager to go back to you guys???” is very present. One way or another Penelope explains the situation, that being Odysseus is absent/mia (much to his own dismay) and the suitors all trying to wed Penelope. Diomedes is sad obv (I’m not gonna go super big into the angst right now) but he tries to brainstorm with Penelope on solutions for her predicament. Since Odysseus was his closest friend (more than friend for me personally but u can interpret it as platonic if u want) and he knows that Odysseus would want what’s best for his wife and son, they think of a solution that can the guarantee of their safety as of now until they hear news of Odysseus. That solution is fake marriage bcs I am a bit of a sucker for that troupe.

But back to Neoptolemus because he’s here too, I want him to bond with Telemachus what with their dads not being here (one’s dead one’s absent). Neo is like way stronger than Telemachus so at first he thinks he’s a bit of a wimp (keep in mind they’re like both teenagers, Neo’s life was just kinda fucked up), but over time they get along better. Pyrrhus’ relationship with Odysseus is a little complicated, so while Penelope and Diomedes might share all the good stories/parts of Odysseus with, Pyrrhus got off to a slightly rocky start with him lol. What with Odysseus taking him away from his mom and basically all the war shenanigans (war crimes), Telemachus for the first time has a whole and humanized version of his dad. It’s more than what the suitors have said out of malice and jealousy, the things Neo has told him have opened up the trickery/cunning side of Odysseus more than he’d known before. He’s jealous that it seems like everyone knows more about his dad than him, but he’s grateful to have someone his age who would view Odysseus more like he would: an annoying dad/uncle??? (Neo vehemently objects to this, and Odysseus would too. “You’re not my fucking dad!!!” “Holy shit thank the GODS for that!!!”)

All in all, happy family. Odysseus returns home to Penelope and Telemachus, and now two surprise guests too. Telemachus has like 3 kinda parents now (Diomedes might be more like an uncle) and a kinda brother/friend/??? I love my little delusional found family. Odysseus is more than a little surprised, considering this IS Neoptolemus. Kid did a 180° in terms of personality in Troy and then ANOTHER 180° somewhere on Ithaca at some point. Or maybe more like a 90° turn in terms of personality, I imagine Telemachus is the most sane of the family and it is much to his dismay.

And when they all eventually die (Diomedes won’t ascend to godhood here I want him to be in the underworld with the rest of the fam) they’ll live happily in the underworld and Pyrrhus can catch up with his dad and mom.

No bc I'm so mad rn I usually post my rants on ig stories but I need the tumblrites to tell me if I'm crazy or what. Jwcc/ct spoilers WHATEVER

First of all I want to preface this by saying that this is just my opinion on the matter, I'm not saying your headcanons are "wrong" or whatever tf, it's a kids cartoon where they unironically use terms like "fam". You can play with the characters however you'd like.

That being said, this is why TO ME it does not makes sense for Ben to be anything other than gay. Again, if you think he's bi or straight or anything else that's cool. I'm also leaning towards the opinion that he does actually have a girlfriend. I don't think the shows gonna pull a 180 on it because, realistically, 2 queer characters is already a lot for a DreamWorks kids show. As much as I'd like it not to be.

But, since the beginning, Ben has been very clearly coded as exclusively into men to me. Before finally going into it, I remind everyone on here that I'm a lesbian. I have felt an affinity with his character specifically for the experience of only liking the same gender. I might be totally projecting.

Ok, so.

1. The arc Ben goes through during the show is yes, one of self discovery, but also one of self acceptance. He changes a lot from the start of s1, but he also comes to terms with stuff himself or other people didn't like about him. He doesn't throw the dork pouch away or tells Kenji to keep it, the first thing he does when he takes it back from Kenji is put on hand sanitizer. He is covered in dirt, he's not afraid of filth anymore, but he still does that action because it's part of who he is as a person. He also becomes very unashamed at the things he does. He went from being embarrassed of his carob bars to eating grubs in front of people who he knows think it's gross. He knows himself as he is and he accepts it. To me (and to lots of other people) this works very well as a gay metaphor, and pairs up pretty nicely with the whole "jungle boy? Jungle MAN" arc being a trans metaphor. But how does this make Ben uniquely into men?

Well, it doesn't. But I think this next one does.

2. Enter Yasmina. She's pretty, she's smart, athletic, funny, all that good stuff. I'm not saying that means every wlm character should automatically be into her, but it certainly helps. Now forgive me if I don't remember specific episodes/seasons, but we all remember that episode where Ben convinces himself that Yaz is in love with him for some reason. When he "rejects" her, he says : "I'm just now starting to find myself". That's cool, cause I'm pretty sure Ben's " finding himself " personality wise was over and done a couple of seasons ago. To me, that is a really good hint at him dealing with his gayness.

3. He's also the first person Yasmina talks to about her feelings for Sammy. Now, in this particular context, the options for Yaz to talk to were Darius, Brooklynn, or Ben. It would initially seem to make more sense for her to confide in Brooklynn, since the two of them are far closer than her and Ben, and it also wouldn't be the first time she brings up Sammy as a romantic interest for Yaz (see: everyone tweaking abt that one line back in like s2). So why does Yasmina, a very private and reserved person, choose Ben to talk to about her same sex crush? She has probably gathered from the previous conversation that Ben relates to her struggle in a unique way in which Brooklynn just can't. Ben seems very receptive of what Yaz is saying ("feelings, am I right?") and it seems like he REALLY gets where she's coming from.

4. This is one I don't see talked about a lot, and maybe it's just cause I'm too out of the loop with the fandom, but I want to examine it as well. It's when Ben decides to not actually stay on the island. Everyone (except Sammy) already knew he wasn't going to stay in the end, but still didn't force him out. I think this is especially clear in a line Darius says when they reunite on the boat that goes something like "you needed to figure it out on your own" *smile hand on shoulder combo*. No explanation needed I think

Ghost underestimated how much Soap talked about him to his family. Even before they started dating Soap was gushing about his very attractive lieutenant. Ghost learned that because Soap’s elder sister was bringing up everything and anything to embarrass her brother in front of his boyfriend.

Ghost wasn’t sure about meeting Soap’s whole family. Meeting his sister was already nerve wracking and she greeted him with a hug. She was a tall woman, taller than Soap. Maybe an inch shorter than Ghost without the heels. That was his guess. She was practically the female version of Soap, except taller. When her eyes met Ghost’s he felt himself start to sweat.

“I wasn’t too sure when my baby brother said he was dating a Brit. But now looking at you? I can see why he jumped on you when he had the chance.”

Soap is mortified as Ghost blinks in shock.

“EVE WHY!?”

The woman laughed, poking her brother’s forehead, “Oh come on! You never brought any of your boyfriends home! I have to make up for all those years of embarrassment you deprived me of!”

Ghost had a brief relationship with his brother. This relationship that Soap had with his sister showed they had years of trust and love between them. Something that Ghost never had. Watching Soap try to grab Eve while she held him back by simply putting her hand on his forehead and pushing away— It made Ghost realize how much he missed out in the sibling department.

Going out to eat with Eve wasn’t as bad as Ghost thought it would be. She stopped being so intimidating when she started sharing things about Soap that Ghost may have or haven't already known about. Still, Soap still tried to argue with her on everything she said.

“—not to mention that you always deflect serious conversations with stupid jokes.”

“I do not!”

Ghost laughs, “Sorry, Johnny. She’s right about that.”

The mood at the table suddenly changed. Eve’s eyes widen before she turned her head and gave Soap the most deadly glare. Soap pales, focusing on his food. Ghost looks between them, wondering if he said something wrong.

“Johnny?”

“Eve-“

“No, you let him call you Johnny? John Hamish MacTavish, since when do you let anyone call you Johnny?!”

Ghost blinks, “He doesn’t let you call him Johnny?”

“No!”

Soap was covering his face, groaning, “It’s not that big of a deal.”

“Not that big of a deal! You always fought anyone you tried to call you that! Pa, Ma, me, Carol—“

“Please… Eve-“

Eve pulls out her phone and Soap gaps before trying to grab it from her, “No!”

“Everyone in the MacTavish family is going to hear about this!”

Soap wasn’t able to stop her. Eve laughed victoriously when the text sent out, turning to Soap who looked like he wanted to die. By the end of the night when they left the restaurant, Soap hung back to talk to Eve. Ghost was sitting anxiously in the car, watching them talk. Soap got in the car and groaned loudly.

“Sorry…”

“About what?”

“Calling you Johnny in front of her.”

Soap takes Ghost’s hand, “She was bound to find out.”

“You seem pretty upset about it.”

Soap laughs, “I’m upset that my sister has already called you her favorite brother. I’m her only brother!”

Ghost can’t help but smile, “She likes me that much?”

“She loves you. God… Christmas is going to be a mess… if you come…”

“Why wouldn’t I come?”

“My family can be overwhelming. It might be too much for you and I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”

“Johnny, I’m going. It would be rude to ignore your parents’ invitation.”

Soap smiles and leans over and kisses Ghost later that night as they laid in bed Soap was getting bombarded with texts and phone calls. Ghost didn’t think something as little as a pet name would be the cause of this. Soap had to put his phone on ‘do not disturb’ before hugging Ghost.

“I think ignoring it might make it worse…”

“Maybe. Don’t care.”

Soap kisses Ghost, the man melting against him as they got comfortable in bed.

Christmas came sooner than what Ghost was prepared for. It felt like he just blinked and Christmas was around the corner. He was nervous as he packed, getting ready for their flight to Scotland. Soap was excited, talking about his hometown and how he couldn’t wait to show Ghost where he grew up.

He guess he was too quiet because Soap stopped talking and walked over to him. He was trying to fold a shirt but he was shaking so bad that he kept wadding it up. Soap took the shirt from him, making Ghost turn to look at him.

“Baby, are you sure you want to go? They will understand if you choose to stay behind.”

“I’m fine! Just nervous.”

Soap puts the shirt down and hugs Ghost, “I get it. But I promise they’re going to love you.”

“I hope you’re right…”

“When have I ever been wrong?”

Ghost stares blankly at Soap. Soap bites his lip and picks the shirt back up, folding it.

“Don’t answer that.”

They finished packing, deciding to watch a movie before heading to bed. Ghost tried staying focused but he was so nervous about fucking up and doing something to make Soap’s family not like him. He’s only ever met the family of a ex-partner once before and that didn’t go well. To be far that boyfriend wasn’t out of the closet and Ghost was visiting as just a friend before his boyfriend’s cousin outed him. That was a bad experience and they broke up a couple days after.

Ghost knew that Soap’s family knew about his sexuality, they knew he was dating a man. But what if it was just mild tolerance rather than acceptance?

“You’re thinking pretty loud.”

Ghost blinks and turns to look at Soap. He had paused their movie and was looking at him with concern. He didn’t even have to say anything and Soap knew what was worrying him.

“They’re going to love you, love.”

“What if they don’t?”

“Si, I know my family. They’re going to take one look at you and then you won’t be able to get rid of them.”

Ghost sighs, “That fast?”

“Oh yea. Should’ve seen them when Carol introduced her husband. Poor guy wasn’t able to even go to the bathroom without someone bothering him. The only person that didn’t like him was my dad but that guy can look at a puppy and scoff.”

Ghost winces, “So I have to worry about your dad?”

Soap rubs the back of his neck, "No?"

"Johnny..."

"Fine, guy can be a bit... Protective. When Carol introduced her husband he wasn’t too happy about the guy already proposing to her without asking for his blessing. He’s old school like that.”

Ghost doesn’t say anything and Soap tries to smooth things over.

“He doesn’t like people that quick! It’s nothing personal he’s just like that. Always has been.”

Ghost looks at Soap and he leans over and kisses him, “He will certainly learn to like you way faster than Oliver.”

Ghost smiles to ease Soap even though he wasn’t convinced. They finished their movie and went to bed, but Ghost wasn’t able to fall asleep that night. When their alarm went off he was still awake and groaned. He was dead on his feet as they checked their luggage before heading out the door to leave for the airport. They had gotten a early morning flight because Soap wanted to spend as much time as possible while back home.

On the car ride Soap noticed Ghost lounging in his seat, eyes barely open.

“Oh, baby. Maybe you can take a nap on the plane ride?”

“I doubt I’ll get much sleep on a flight that is barely over an hour.”

“Still better than nothing.”

Ghost sighs, knowing that his anxiety will keep him from even getting an house of sleep. The flight was rather uneventful and Soap gave him his earbuds to listen to music so he could try to sleep. Ghost thinks he slept for thirty minutes before they landed. Seeing how excited Soap was made him keep pushing, not wanting to ruin his boyfriend’s experience of coming back home after being gone for so long.

When they walked out of the airport Eve was there. She got out of her car and ran over, hugging Ghost before hugging Soap.

“What the hell, Eve?”

“What? I hug people in the order in which I like them.”

Soap gasps and Ghost couldn’t help but preen. She helped pack their luggage in her trunk before Ghost got in the backseat. She frowned in a cartoonish manner when he did this.

“I was hoping to not have to share the front with this loser.”

Soap glares at his sister with the fury of a thousand suns. Ghost chuckles as they get in the car bickering about something. Ghost ended up falling asleep again. It wasn’t a deep sleep but it was a better nap than what he got on the plane ride. He woke when they came to stop, seeing that they were in a town. Soap and Eve were talking lowly, probably to prevent from waking him.

“I’m sure you talked to him about Pa…”

“I was worried about scaring him. He’s already nervous about meeting everyone.”

Ghost made a noise and pretended to be just waking up. Soap turns his head and smiles at him.

Ghost makes a mental note of the place. They ended up driving a few kilometers out of town. They came to a big homestead, several cars already pulled alongside the driveway. Ghost saw some kids playing around the house. They paid no mind to them until they saw Ghost get out of the car, a couple boys running inside afterwards. Ghost’s anxiety immediately picked up, grabbing his luggage from the trunk along with Soap’s.

“I can get my own bag, Si.”

Soap is suddenly tackles by two girls. He caught himself on the car, laughing when he sees who jumped on him.

“Aye, look who it is! Two of the most beautiful girls in the world!”

He goes to grab them but they squeal and dodge him, running to Eve. They hide behind her, giggling as Soap stalked after them. Eve rolled her eyes with a smile.

“Mina, Ellie.”

The girls stood at attention, looking up at Eve. She makes a shooing motion at them.

“Go get your father.”

“Yes, Mama.”

They take off, giggling the whole way. Ghost’s heart ached at the innocence, they reminded him of Joseph.

“They’ve gotten so big!”

Eve let’s out a deep breath, “Tell me about it! Soon they’ll be dating! And you know I’ll have to kill whoever breaks their hearts!”

Eve and Soap start to move towards the house, Ghost following closely. The closer they got to the house, the harder his heart would beat. A man opens the front door, taking Eve’s hands immediately and pulling her in for a kiss. He then turns to Soap and pulls him in for a hug.

“John!”

“Hey, Jay!”

Ghost notes the man’s faint Welsh accent that mixed with a Scottish one.

The man looks at Ghost and looks him over before offering a hand, “Hello, you must be Simon.”

Ghost puts down a bag and takes the man’s hand. He could tell Jay was trying not to stare at his scarred face or hands. But Ghost recognized the curiosity and slight horror. He tries to ignore it as Jay and Eve welcome them inside. As soon as that door closed Ghost felt trapped. He wish he was wearing a mask but he knows that would’ve brought up questions. Jay reaches for the bags Ghost had.

“I can take those to your room.”

Ghost goes to protest but Soap takes his hand, “Let him. Ma would have a fit if we didn’t immediately go see her.”

Eve laughs, “She would. Hun, where is Ma?”

“In the kitchen.”

Soap starts to drag Ghost through the house. He tried to look around but Soap wasn’t giving him any time to do so. They walk into a big kitchen, two women talking over some tea. One turned and Ghost knew that was Soap’s mother. Eve and Soap looked just like her. The small woman smiles broadly and walks over, pulling him into a tight hug.

“Oh, my baby boy! Let me look at ya!”

She holds Soap by his shoulders and pushes him away at arm’s length, looking him over before she grabs him by his face.

“Ah missed ya so much!”

“Ma, I was here for Easter!”

She waves her hand dismissively, “Like that matters.”

She looks past Soap and straight at Ghost. He tensed as she studied him, unreadable. Then she smiles warmly and moves past Soap, taking his hands.

“Ye must be Simon.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

She laughs, “No need for such formalities. Ye can just call me Muriel.”

She looks over Ghost, pulling away and looking to Soap.

“Ya got yerself a looker!”

Ghost blushes as Soap shakes his head, “Ma…”

She ignores Soap and looks back to Ghost. She hooks an arm with his and leads him to the kitchen island. The other woman finally speaks.

“Ah see that yer just gonna ignore me!”

Soap laughs, “Sorry, Carol!”

Soap walks over and the woman glares at him but it melts away and she reaches out, pulling Soap into a hug.

“Good to see ya, little brother.”

Carol turns to Ghost and looks him over before turning back to Soap.

“Did ya see the biggest guy in the force and decide thats yer man?”

Soap smacks her shoulder as she laughs, “What? Ye always had a thing fur big guys!”

Ghost looked away as the two start to bicker, Carol walking out of the room with Soap chasing after her. Muriel shakes her head before grabbing Ghost’s attention with a gentle tap to his arm.

“Would ya like some tea, dear?”

“Yes I would.”

“Ah’ll get ya some then. How do ya like it?”

“Just a lot of sugar added to it.”

Muriel walks over to the kettle which still had hot water in it. Ghost looks around the kitchen, unsure what to do without Soap there. Ghost looks at the decorations in the kitchen. There was some porcelain farm animals in the window sill. A woman walks into the room, groaning.

“Ma, Jacky just threw up.”

Muriel turns around, “Oh no! Where is he?”

“In the family room.”

Muriel rushes out of the kitchen, leaving Ghost alone with the woman. She was short, had reddish brown hair and blue eyes. Her face was round and she had light freckles. She studies him like she was trying to figure out who he was.

“Ah’m sorry, who are ya?”

“I’m Simon, John’s boyfriend.”

Her eyes widen before she rushes forward and hugs him tightly. Ghost tenses, not expecting her to hug him. She pulls away and is holding him by the shoulders.

“Yer not what Ah was expectin’! Much more… handsome.”

Ghost flushes as the woman steps back and clears her throat before offering her hand.

“Hello, Ah’m Andy. John’s big sister.”

Ghost takes her hand, “Nice to meet you.”

Soap walks into the kitchen, “Sorry about running off Si-“

He freezes when he sees Andy. Unlike everyone else he’s seen, he seemed to put his guard up.

“That makes two of us,” She looks at Ghost, “Where did ya find this big guy?”

Ghost felt uncomfortable as she looked at him. He also didn’t like how Soap was acting. Soap glares and steps forward, getting between her and Ghost.

She starts to leave the kitchen, flashing a smile at Ghost, “Good ta meet ya, Simon.”

She leaves and Soap turns to Ghost after a minute, seemingly making sure she was gone.

“What was that?”

“Hey! John! Simon! Pa’s comin’ in from the garage!”

Soap grabs Ghost and drags him out of the kitchen and through the halls. They come to be big open room with a couch and loveseat. Ghost assumed it was the family room. There are a couple kids running around but they see Ghost and run upstairs. There’s an old woman, maybe Soap’s grandmother, and a woman that looked around the same age as Muriel. On the loveseat was a man with black hair and eyes. He looked at Ghost and immediately looked away when Ghost turned his attention onto him.

He looks to the big sliding doors as they open, and his heart picked up speed when a mountain of a man came through. He had a light tan, red hair and blue eyes. Ghost realized this man was taller than him. Soap walked up the man with a grin. Before he can say anything the man grabs Soap and pulls him into what looked like a bone crushing hug.

“My boy! How are ya?!”

Soap wiggles free from the man, “Fine, Pa! Hey, I want you to meet Simon!”

The man’s gaze turns to Ghost and it was ice cold. Ghost could feel the judgment as the man walks over, definitely sizing him up. Ghost has faced hordes of enemies head on, has almost diex multiple times. But for some reason, this man was the most terrifying thing he has ever faced.

Ghost could tell the man wasn’t looking for a reply. Soap groans and grabs his father’s arm.

“Pa—“

The old woman speaks up, “Isaiah. Stop foolin’ ‘round. He’s a fine young man.”

Soap turns to the woman, “Thank you, Gran!”

Isaiah rolls his eyes before backing off. Muriel comes into the family room with a little boy in her arms. Isaiah’s attitude instantly changes. He smiles and walks over to her, placing a loving kiss on her head. Soap walks over to his grandmother and sits next to her before motioning Ghost to come sit. The other woman around Muriel and Isaiah’s age smiles at him.

Ghost looks to her and she pats his shoulder, “I’m Miranda, John’s aunt and Muriel’s sister.”

“Simon.”

1. Not a single bts of that loft. I feel like we were getting loft bts all the time last year (also there were like so many loft scenes last year too so that might be why)

2. Built the biggest most expensive rolling stage thing of all time. I believe either they have to build new sets this year or rent the sets from fox = bucks loft didnt make the cut (pure spec on my part watch oliver post bts of the loft today on his ig takeover)

3. “Giving the fans what theyre asking for” in terms of buddie what the fans have been asking for (at least that I see the most and think the writers would be aware of) is buddie canon, trapped dads (which was mostly just finale spec but I do think could happen in cruise disaster), buck breakdown/therapy, buckley diaz fam content, death to bucks loft/buddie roommates. And buddie roommates not only captures 2 of those but is also my fav of them so my mind went there

4. Buck and eddie closer than ever / knowing each other on a deeper level than before (Im paraphrasing bc I cant remember all 20 devastating ryan quotes rn): from personal experience, you can be very close with someone, but living with them is a whole new experience and you learn things about people you never knew before. One of the most intimate ways to get to know someone imo

5. Kind of like a said with a newish audience, 10 ep season that includes 2ep big emergency and madney wedding, and also the fact I feel the show has never explicitly hinted at buddie (I dont count the s2 stuff tim has said was fan service and 601/612 felt like it but thats it) I dont think full buddie canon is on the table this season. But a great way to explicitly hint that buddie canon is happening at some point would be roommates storyline

In conclusion: there will probably be 30 loft scenes this season and Im dumb but one can dream

I love how the two pics below during the Thistle’s house arc show how they breached the gap in their different, their respective prejudice against the other. So funny that the time Marcille goes "yeah elves kinda suck" is at the worst possible timing lmao, meanwhile Chil is ready to vehemently defend magic use against someone (bc he doesn’t want to go to prison rip). With the page before that panel where he imagines the western elves all evil and all too, it’s really nice to note how big the gap between them was at first with the historical horrors the elves have committed, and what a strong bond they’ve made through it all anyways.

Ok time to address what I hinted at last part and in another post but I think the anime frames this scene a lil different which I think is funny. In the manga Chilchuck walks to her bedside to call out to her to wake her up close, but in the anime he sort of just speaks in her direction. So Marcille heard "Hey, clumsy-head.” and knew it was targeted at her, she went like oh someone is calling me I need to wake up lmfaoo? Listen that’s good for the ship, she woke up because it was his voice and insults like "clumsy" and "dummy" are practically his pet names for her, and it’s also neat how she was the one he chose to call out to in the first place- Why? If it’s bed placement, Laios was on his other side, is it because some need rest more than others? Or perhaps, because he finds interacting with her to be the easiest and he knows she won’t make a big deal out of it?

Speaking of making a big deal out of things. Ok so first of all, during the cockatrice chapter, he’s funny. Staring at his petrified party member like 😬 And look at his little relieved sigh when she gets revived! Standing in the corner and doesn’t care for celebrating, but he cares nonetheless.

And then look… He worked hard to get Marcille un-petrified again too, gathering medicinal herbs even with the risks! And in the end, he wants to take credit for what revived her hehe.

For once she’s the one who gets to tease him lol.

I want to know how the group whispering strategizing went. Chil for sure was part of the "If we tell her she’ll look cute she’ll take the bait" convo. Funny that in the end he doesn’t even praise her, I think he’s the one talking about her frog-like silhouette… Edit: EPSODE 10 IS OUT GUESS WHAAT Laios is the one saying the frog silhouette is fun (should have seen it coming) Chilchuck is the one saying "that looks great on you"/"very cute" depending on the translation, the line delivery in the eng dub at least sounds shaky, sounds like hesitance.

You know I never put this in a marchil comp/post even tho it’s a page with a lot to say, and I only realized recently why it made me so uneasy/conflicted. Because by all means "Our magician successfully stood against the mad magician" is flattering, but Chilchuck’s point in this page is that he’s worried about how her life is gonna go, which ties into his worry for others about the law, their jobs, the way Puckpatti is carefree, etc. In this chapter he suppresses his worry and care with anger, but the point still remains that he’s worried for her and her professional future and thus like, her general life direction and all. Sigh anyways more analysis coming on this topic at some point

You get kai and bonnie so much together and individually everything you say fits them in canon so well it's too bad the writers really fumbled with them because when kai showed up he was a breath of fresh air and the best part about him is he's all about bonnie that was new and realistic bonkai was their last shot at getting the vampire diaries interest back up again

AH thank you so much for this lovely message, you're so sweet!! Yes, it really is such a shame the writers fumbled Bonkai bc it rly did seem like they had some great ideas there in the beginning, but the execution fell flat :( I feel like Kai was a breath of fresh air not just for us fans but also the cast & crew! U could rly feel their spark of new excitement for a dying show when kai showed up bc i think they all sensed that he was unique and different from the tired, recycled plotlines they'd had since S4.

Ian in particular seemed much more interested in his scenes when Kai was around (and much more lifeless when he wasn't) and Bonnie ofc was *given* much more interesting scenes when Kai was around, compared to prior seasons. Even Alaric & Jo, who started S6 as rick's new boring romance of the season, became relevant, layered and interesting bc of their links to Kai. Like rick loved to play the hero & act like damon was morally beneath him in S6 but his need to protect Jo from Kai brought out a selfish streak that made him go behind Jo & her fam's back to make shady deals w Damon & Kai as long as it kept Jo safe! Even Jo was revealed to be quite crafty considering her backstory of how she tricked & betrayed Kai in 1994, which made her much more interesting than her early role as rick's bland gf.

Even Liv & Luke were (im sorry) SO BORING in S5 but 1000x more interesting in S6 once their story got linked to Kai. His existence single-handedly linked so many disjointed characters & plotlines from previous seasons (like why'd they even bring Rick back after dying in S3? His relationship w Jo (and by extension, Kai) was the only thing that made him relevant for the rest of the goddamn show)! Even the Heretics were introduced to the show through KAI & the gemini/siphoner lore and fully lost steam as soon as Kai wasn't there to make 'em interesting!

As for Kai's links to Bonnie, ya i agree she rly was their last chance to make things interesting bc they'd already given Elena & Caroline "dark" romances that fans were too attached to to accept anything else (see: Delena being forced to stay together; Steroline forever being overshadowed in most fans' minds by Klaroline) so giving Elena & Caroline new pairings would've disappointed fans, whereas Bonnie was a blank slate they could've gone WILD with bc none of her canon pairings had strongly attached fans... yet they gave Elena & Caroline new romances anyway and scrapped Bon's romance with Kai :)))

That is what felt malicious. In S6 alone, they gave Elena who ALREADY HAD DAMON the new guy Liam, then gave Caroline the same guy Liam, Enzo (briefly) AND Stefan, whereas Bon *almost* got Kai & *fully* lost Jeremy in S6. ??? Any writer who paid half as much attention to her fans as Plague did (considering how much ott fan-service she wrote into tvd & how many twitter fights she got into w fans whose ships she disapproved of) HAD to have known her fans wouldn't accept Caroline/Enzo, Care/Stef, Care/Liam or Elena/Liam as much as they loved Care/Klaus & Elena/Damon. Yet she did it anyway bc she preferred LOSING FANS to giving Bonnie someone interesting!

She even planned Kai to be Bon's love interest in S6 bc she thought he wouldn't be popular w fans & instantly torpedoed that once she noticed fans' love for him bc, as I said before, Plague PAID ATTENTION to her fans' reactions. So fans having lukewarm feelings about Steroline was enough to get 'em married, but fans LIKING Kai was enough to get Bonkai axed. It's a common joke that Plague saw Caroline as her self-insert (neurotic, hyper-organized blonde control-freak) which is why she dated more men than even Elena. But I think a large chunk of tvd's white teen girl fans saw Care as a self-insert too (bc w each subsequent season, Caroline was increasingly written & designed that way, which is why fans turned on tvd's original self-insert, Elena, & worshipped Care instead).

Her "im never the one, im not perfect like elena" insecurities made her a blank canvas for (white) girls to see themselves in, which is why she wins Miss Mystic Falls, why she's a privileged Founding Fam member, why she gets to dress fancy & go to Mikaelson balls that have nothing to do w her, why she gets ALL the men, why she becomes the 1st vampire to be pregnant, why she gets to marry Stefan (then instantly lose him so she can go kiss Klaus in the spin-off), why she gets to be tvd's last vampire standing, why she repeatedly gets to have her cake and eat it too. By presenting Elena as "perfect/ideal" & Caroline as an "underdog," fans naturally sympathized more with Care's "struggle" (even tho she repeatedly got EVERYTHING!) Based on this, Plague refused to let ppl like Klaus date Bonnie (which would've made sense) but shoved him w Caroline (which didn't make narrative sense) bc that gave her & white fans the chance to see themselves in Care & feel like THEY were dating Klaus.

(Btw I wanna add that I actually do like & enjoy Caroline! This is a critique of the shadiness that went into *writing* Caroline, not a critique of Caroline herself)

Similarly, Kai was allowed to want Bonnie as long as fans didn't like him, but once he got popular, Plague killed Bonkai bc she believed that she & her (white) fans wouldn't be able to see themselves in Bonnie and feel like THEY were the ones dating Kai. But Kai was not Klaus, Stefan, Damon, Enzo or Kol. His character was CONCEIVED w Bonnie in mind to the point that erasing his obsession w her would make him not even feel like KAI anymore. And that wouldn't work bc fans wanted gucci kai, not walmart kai. Also, his general personality quirks were just not the type that would vibe w Caroline. Chris Wood said it himself, "Kai likes to be the one who talks, he doesn't like to listen, so I think Caroline might make him wanna snap her neck & move on" bc Caroline ALSO likes to talk. So writing him w Care would change Kai too much & writing him w Elena was not an option bc Delena was set in stone & Nina was leaving. So, how'd plague have her cake & eat it too? She refused to let Bon have Kai, and bc there was no other white girl who made sense for him, she kept Kai eternally single so white fans could eternally imagine themselves w him.

And uk what's the worst part? I don't believe all white fans would've necessarily struggled to see themselves in Bonnie if she'd dated Kai. I think Bonnie being the ACTUAL underdog struggler of the show made her very relatable to people, regardless of what your race is (esp bc tvd rarely addressed her race or centered any plotlines on it). I think Plague's own subconscious biases just made it impossible for her to fathom seeing herself in a PoC character, which is why she wrongly assumed all her majority white fans worked the same way & letting Bonkai happen would've disappointed them & made them stop watching. (But that being said, even if it was just a "business decision" to her... isn't it funny how disappointing masses of white klaroline fans didn't stop her from tossing Care at stef, enzo, whoever she wanted, but ONLY stopped her when it came to Bonnie's ships (bc she was looking for excuses to scrap 'em anyway)? Oh plagueee ur biases are showing, girlieee)

Mischaracterizations are prevalent in fandoms. I'm curious, which ones of the CoD:Ghosts franchise bug you the most, and make you want to pull out your hair once you see them in fics/other materials?

This question created several additional thoughts, so I’m putting all my yapping below the cut lmfao.

Tbh it doesn’t bother me a whole lot except when it’s a large part of said character, or one of their only canon descriptions/facts/etc. I think it’s great for ppl to create what they want, esp when a lot of the ghosts have little/no info so we quite literally have to make shit up and fill in the likely blanks, but if you’re straying so far from who a character is…😟

Like, Keegan is described and shown throughout the game as being a very quiet man…so it does make me side eye when people portray him as this talkative guy, or someone with a really big personality lol cause that’s just not the vibe. That’s why I rb’d that thing, because I was thinking about how he’s the most popular ghost by far, and I think a lot of those fans aren’t necessarily into the rest of the ghosts game (and they don’t have to be, just an observation). I think that’s why so much of the content made about him outside of the actual ghosts fandom seems out of left field, bc people just kinda take a hot character and do whatever with him (which again, is fine, free will in fandom is good and necessary). I also think that’s why so many people get him confused as being part of other CoD games, because they aren’t aware of where his character even comes from in the first place.

Now this may be a bit of an unpopular opinion bc I know a lot of ppl hate some of the smut aspect that’s written about these characters, because they include themes that are/seem ooc, but I’m gonna be honest…that part doesn’t bother me so much because at the end of the day, people just want to put their fantasies and ideas onto hot masked man…and I get it lmao. Not to say im necessarily gonna read it, esp stuff with hard kink type shit, but it’s more so bothersome when people mischaracterize them because they don’t pay attention to the actual canon character in other fics/materials.

That’s why I kinda separate smut fic from everything else a bit, because a lot of smut I’ve noticed, especially with Keegan specifically, is written ooc, because making it canon/character correct isn’t the point, the sexy time shit is. Now I still prefer reading smut that seems largely in character lol, but I do have to defend the larger idea here that it’s not a crime to write an ooc smut fic because half the time…the smut is the main focus, not the canon/implied personality of the character.

I completely understand the shock of seeing certain smut in the first place (talking about the more fucked up shit here…), especially when it’s then placed on a character you know and love, but it honestly doesn’t bother me that much-and maybe it’s because I’ve been on the internet for too long💀- but that’s kinda the point of fandom I think…doing whatever pleases you, having an outlet. That’s the type of smut I think is very obviously written with the idea in mind, and not necessarily ‘would the character do/behave like this?’. Because yea, these ghost boys would most likely not do all these fucked up things, but I think people still deserve the freedom to write it, and they’re going to anyways lmfao (IF you’re tagging disturbing content correctly, you owe people that much!)

I’ve been having those thoughts for a while now so I had to yap them out of my head lol, but to answer the actual question, aside from Keegan, I hateeee seeing the Walker fam mischaracterized. I think because (it seems) they have more info available on them compared to the other ghosts, so when I see people just giving their personalities a 180 I’m like…Hesh would NOT act like that😩. Especially with Elias because he’s my husband obviously…so people missing larger parts of his character or stuff that’s implied about him makes my eye twitch a little lol.

Also, I don’t typically see a whole lot of ooc stuff for the ghosts in the first place tbh (minus Keegan, bc he has reached the CoD masses of course). Because we’re a smaller fandom, and I think people tend to stay in character more in smaller fandoms (at least from what I’ve seen) because there’s so little content available on characters, and it’s like we’re all clinging to what we DO know about them lmfao.

thank you so much for asking!!! i talked a bit about them here but i’m always so happy to talk more about them… i’ve missed themmm

for me, the fundamental thing about them is that they would defend each other with their dying breaths but they also can’t fucking stand each other - in this way, their relationship is kinda more sibling-like than anything else (but, notably, both of their actual sibling relationships are a bit more complicated than that). like if they’re left alone in the same room for too long, there’ll be nothing left of the extravagant, antique furnishings by the time they leave. but also like if one of them gets hit by a curse in a battle, there’ll be nothing left of the person who cast it by the time the other is done.

it’s very unspoken (and when it is spoken, it’s yelled, bc god forbid either of them ever communicate like normal people) but it’s mostly about duty. bc they’re married. they’re husband and wife and that means something. i think it was an arranged marriage and they don’t love each other at all, never have and never will and they both know that, but there’s still this sense of them being bound together. like i’ve said before, both of them are very devotional, like rodo is fastidious about his duty as lord, that’s his entire life, and bella is fervent in her loyalty, primarily to her family (& later voldemort) but rodo would receive a degree of this as well.

i also think at their cores they’re made up of a lot of the same stuff (altho, i’ve said it before and i’ve said it again, the blacks to me are just More than the lestranges (& most other pureblood fams) are, they’re an Extreme) and bella expresses this more outwardly while rodo keeps all his passion and anger and wildness simmering under a much more upright, refined exterior (which does erode as he gets more sucked into the DEs, and esp after his time in azkaban)

later on in their relationship i think the main thing that binds them together is voldemort. like neither of them can be members of Society anymore - after the azkaban escape, they’re wanted criminals, they can’t be the lord and lady lestrange as well as that. i think a lot of this begins before the first azkaban trip too, like they’re some of if not The most zealous DEs at the end of the first war. please see: torture of the longbottoms bc they need to get info on the whereabouts of their master. i think this is where they give up on the idea of their social standing (which was so important to them before, mainly to rodo w the duty thing but also to bella bc of the level of pride that comes w being a black).

this is a central thing that i think is so interesting about the death eaters and the way tom operates. he cultivates a dependency on him so that when he’s gone, people like bella and rodo just can’t really function. they have to find him and when they can’t, they scream their loyalty to him all the way to azkaban. they can’t just go on living a normal life like lucius for example (and i think this is part of why the malfoys fall out of tom’s favour so drastically in the second war. bc he knows that lucius can live without him, can denounce him and pretend it was the imperius and basically just walk away scot-free from being voldemort’s right hand man… tom can’t rely on someone like that, but anyway that's unrelated!!)

bella and rodo are Dependent on voldemort by the end of the first war. bc, like i said before, they’re both incredibly devotional and tom sucks them in so that the vast majority of this goes to him rather than like to rabastan, or narcissa, or each even each other. there’s still the sense that they’re married and they’re in this together and they will still defend each other etc etc. but like. consider a death eater meeting:

in the first war, i think bella and rodo would’ve sat next to each other, bc they’re husband and wife and so they should sit next to each other, but maybe by the end of that war and defo in the second one, i think bella sits next to voldemort and rodo sits who knows where. i think a lot about the death eater seating plans lol i think they’re v important, and i think as time goes on, for bella and rodo, it would become less important to maintain the proper position of husband and wife, and more important for their seating to reflect their positions in terms of their relationship to voldemort….

this all ties into the way the power dynamic between them twists and turns w rodo being the Husband, but bella (at least in the second war) being of higher standing in the death eaters (which to me is to do w the like. the aesthetics of the wars… the first war is marked by secrecy and strategy and someone like rodo would be highly valued (i've said before: poster boy) and imo he’s like. sat next to voldemort at the head of the table, across from lucius, w bella sat beside him… but the second war is messier and much more public and bella takes that seat instead and i think snape takes lucius’(?? would have to check) but anyway the power dynamics switch between them! interesting!)

Pluto 11H Transit - Personal Observation

As Pluto's been hanging around the last degree of Capricorn I've been feeling so unsatisfied in my friendships and my goals lol a weird feeling like it's not bad but like....it's off and not really what I want.

The other day someone asked me if I had any goals for this year and I said no bc I did not write out goals and I haven't for 2 years! The goals I made 5 years ago that I really wanted didn't happen and I got tired of re adding them to my goals for the new year so I just stopped altogether lmfao but partly because as the years went by I got more like "idek what I want!!!" about them!

With friendships I've been realizing that I don't have friends in my immediate environment that share my more exciting interests. Astro for example Idk anyone in person that knows more than just the basic like their big 3 and how to look up their chart and some people are even against it for "witchcraft" lol and other exciting interests I have are creative and I've been calling it excitement blue balls lmfao when I get super excited about something and I show my friends and they just don't get it at all or they get it after I explain but it's just not exciting for them so they can't match my excitement lol and it's so disappointing! The other day I was looking up pluto 11H natally and it was talking about how someone with this placement can be a loner and that's accurate for the transit too! I find myself doing things alone a lot bc I'm the "host" of my group of friends and they are all part of different groups (family or friends) but for me this is my one group so when they are doing things with their other groups I'm literally alone lol so the thought of "i want different/more friends!" is in my head a lot!

But I think that's around the time I started seriously saying I wanted to be a lawyer and in early high school I did these summer camp things for legal justice. I'm a lawyer now and it's like yay......I guess lmfaooo idk like it pays my bills I can't complain! However for the last 2 years I've been wanting to get a different job and nothing I've seen has looked exciting and I'm like maybe it's bc I'm not looking up what I want but what do I want?? idk!

This has definitely been true because this transit started a year ish after I came to the US and that's when my fam told me that it wasn't temporary so all my friendships from Haiti that I had just kind of died overnight bc it was hard back then to communicate internationally and I was also 11 lol and my fam does not value friendships so no one even cared! Those friends and I were definitely like the "it" group of elementary school lol but the friends I made in middle school were different bc we just minded our business and entertained ourselves! Then in high school my friend group changed again bc I was in IB classes so the people I was around were different and I had to be a lot more social and I stopped seeing my middle school friends around. Then in college I was on a caribbean dance team and that's who I was around and they were all black bc caribbean which was so different from my friends throughout middle and high school. It was interesting bc going in I thought I would have been more like them bc i am caribbean but I was still different bc I grew up in haiti and they grew up here lol Then in law school I went to an HBCU and the vibes were off for me bc so much elitism so I only stuck to a couple people and minded my business lol

Activities that you once enjoyed may no longer appeal to you now

I can't remember for the entire transit but recently that's why I've been like eh about my friendships bc the stuff that they want to do I used to want but now I don't anymore so I go more to hang out with them instead of bc I want to do whatever it is lol this halloween season for example I wanted to do this bar crawl and this party on saturday and everyone bailed so I ended up skipping the bar crawl and going to the party alone and like I had a great time!! I was in the front by the DJ and I know i'm gonna be in their promo pictures lmao but then there's another party on halloween that I'm going to and I didn't even really want to do it I wanted to do this boat party but again no one wanted to do that so lol

So many clashing egos as if we weren't literally just students lol I met this one girl and we had started to become friends and she persuaded me to come over to her place and teach her how to cook some foods bc we're both Haitian and then I realized that she literally just wanted me to meal prep for her and I was like uhhhhhhh.... and avoided her after that lmao I also could not get myself to gaf about networking and I really tried!! These professors were not clicking for me and befriending random attorneys at events bc of the firm they work at idk it wasn't my vibe lol

Idk if I can say I've met them bc they are people I only know online but I've come across a few people that I still go to for advice and guidance! We're friends now but when I met him it was bc I got a tarot reading from him where he looked at the entire upcoming year and that was honestly so helpful!

My friendship with my high school bestie ended in 2014 I wanna say which is one of the years when this transit was exact on my 11H degree and it was a shallow friendship bc we were besties bc we had every class together and sat next to each other bc of our last names lol it was great at the time but then we went to different colleges in different states and it wasn't sustainable lol then in 2017 another friendship ended with my roommate of 3yrs after we graduated college and idek what happened there lol we were just really good roommates but not friends that would stay friends outside of that. There's also people I used to hang out with all the time that now I only see on socials and say happy birthday to lol

Friends have definitely been a major part of my growth over the years not just through my personal experiences with them but also with their experiences with other people lol I'm always thinking about why people act how they act and a lot of times i can see how I acted similarly and it clicks for me! It's my 1H saturn return right now so a major thing has been observing my own behavior and I've been working through a lot of people pleasing tendencies after going NC with my mom and I think that I made friends along the way based on the things that they liked that I liked too but not the things that I liked you know??? lol idk how else to say that! But yeah now that I'm more aware of it and also choosing to do things I find exciting I'm leaning toward things that in my group i'm the only one into them lol idk how to go about making new friends based on that tho!

I liked this theory. Always thought the same: Millicent and her sisters were parts of Malenia, they had to return to let her recover and live. So it was a right and noble decision for Millicent in the end.

In my headcanons, don't see Malenia doing parenting. Just saw an interesting short vid on themes of motherhood in Elden Ring, they said Malenia was an 'unwanting mother', to the kindreds, to Milli and her sisters. An interesting thought. At least it made me remember to finally finish editing this post ☺

I'd rather focus on Malenia's relationship with Lyra. They are like children themselves in some ways, despite everything (learning to live a more peaceful happy life bc the girls deserve it!).

Not that I'm opposed to maternal characters. There are some, including Loretta, who has an adoptive daughter and cares for her greatly. Or some of my OCs: Waldemia (one of Miquella's best healers), mother Svenja (crucible touched lady, more human-looking than our typical misbegotten, which helped her survive, also a healer).

Then there's Miquella. In my AU he's really a chill and reasonable guy, def more maturte than his ladies 😆

Millicent played important part in Lyra's story, helping her fully regain her memories. When Lyra just awoke, at first, all she could recall was her name, her death and bits of recent life prior to it (one distant kingdom across the sea from the Lands Between, she was exiled there and tried to return later, but died in the storm - other story. Probably she's been to Roderika's homeland, that would be a nice detail). Many important things were lost. How in the older pre-shattering days she left Caria to serve the Haligtree (enough in common with Loretta 😊 Maybe that's why they became friends later). Slowly, one by one, she could recollect those bits... Millicent offered the last and most important piece of the puzzle: after meetimg her, Lyra remembered something crucial. Including her devotion to Malenia. Then she decided to return to the Haligtree, to serve it again.

Lyra felt that part of Malenia in Millicent, that's why she grew attached to her. But all good must end... for the sake of something bigger. Sacrifices and losses are needed, too.

Then, I consider this story a 'sunshine AU', the one with a more or less good ending and brighter tones - something we can't naturally get in a Fromsoft game... But too much sunshine is no good, it's blinding and burning.

It's just the way I feel it. Of course, I enjoy other people's headcanons, including those where Millicent is actually present alongside Malenia.
