🥩 STEAKS ALL DAY! TWO WAYS 🍳 Yesterday’s linner and dinner was all about the steaks! We’d run out to Farm Boy in the morning for the usual weekly haul of fresh groceries and honestly, the Keto Krackerz because they are the schiznizzle! Farm Boy, if you’re reading this, please make these in larger bulk batches! I buy 3 every time! Linner was steak and runny eggs with a side of asparagus. This is the perfect breakfast-y combo and I love it so much! Dinner was a steak with a good pat of the Garlic and Parsley compound butter. I love this butter so much! If you haven’t tried steaks in the air fryer yet, DO IT! It’s one of the best ways to cook them! Chocolate teats from NoSugar and Zevia are favourites! ✨🗓 REFLECTIONS FOR 2021 PART 2/2 🗓✨ I started this account with the intention to figure out and track what foods were triggering my eczema and even in early 2021, that was still a mystery but after some more time being able to focus more on myself and figuring out the food part, the end of 2021 has been WONDERFUL. Even in the last week, I’ve been able to make headways with my habit of tracking my foods in the @myfitnesspal app and dial in my lifestyle and food choices. I FINALLY have the tools and systems in place to support myself and for me to help myself! It’s been literally 10 years in the making! There were also a lot of new recipes that we tried and new discoveries that were all in the stories but I’ll spend some time to post them all eventually! 🌶 BATCH FREEZING JALAPEÑO & RED PEPPERS 🧊 🫑 I’ve always been a fan of Jalapeño Poppers and recently tried some at home in the Air Fryer with delightful success! Will have to post about that layer. This led me back to the market to take advantage of the fresh Jalapeño Peppers while they’re still available. So I also batch chopped a fresh market haul of Jalapeño and Red Peppers. Still learning about peppers and how to incorporate fresh peppers into recipe dishes. If you know what type of Red Pepper this is, let me know in the comments below! Again, the Stasher Bags are the best storage for this as I can squeeze out most of the air and also pack them relatively flat and when I need to use it, break them up inside the bag easily. My favourite kitchen gear since I first stumbled upon them several years ago. My left hand was handling all of the peppers and it does get quite spicy and tingly! Takes a while wash out. Not sure if I’d wear gloves next time but might think of other ways to chop and handle them next time. 🧅 BATCH FREEZING GREEN ONIONS AKA SCALLIONS 🧊 🥶 It’s been a couple of months since the last post. For the last while, been spending some time wrangling life together and just making some adjustments but definitely getting back into it with a big backlog of photos to comb through. Colder weather is great for that! Spent yesterday batch chopping what has come to be my favourite freshness topper - Green Onions aka Scallions! I like to make sure that I don’t put too much into the bag and flatten it somewhat so that when I need to use it, I can break them up easily inside the Stasher Bag as it’s great for that! Can’t do that with a glass jar, so it’s great for immediate use of the frozen food. I also discovered that green onions can also have a gooey gel on the inside similar to aloe vera but it doesn’t taste onion-y. The birds were SUPER moist but the skin was so crispy! We lathered on the spices and made bone broth from the leftover bones.
