No joke, as someone running a dnd campaign for the first time this is one of the most inspiring videos I've ever seen. This is the kind of DM I aspire to be.

The video starts you out thinking "oh no, what a mismatched group. Everyone is going to be frustrated with each other and the DM will barely be able to wrangle it all."

But the DM meets everyone where they are! AND EVEN BETTER, he encourages party cohesion! He (gently) shuts down the power gamer when he tries to tell the newbie what to do. He rewards the newbie for experimenting, and makes that experimentation benefit the power gamer mechanically. So rather than being annoyed or dismissive he's excited and high fiving the newbie for his choice!

He knows none of the other players are interested in engaging the storyteller's backstory, so he gives him a personal, roleplay-heavy duel that satisfies him, while letting the player that just wants to fight plow through faceless mooks and feel like a badass. He sees the strengths in everyone's playstyle, and all the while he's cheering everyone on and keeping the energy high.

Anyway I fully believe anyone who DMs or is considering it should watch this video, it's not even about DMing but it shows how to be an unbelievably awesome DM.

Under assault from all sides Jaune made a final call, ordering a retreat... it was the last commend he ever made... as he was overtaken by the horde of grimm before reaching the safety of the evac bullhead.

So gathered in a small private conference room, Glynda Goodwitch proceeded to read out Jaune Arc's last will and testament to his grieving team mates.

Glynda: Now considering there are clauses in this document specifically related to Mr. Arc's family, and have been given permission I will address Jaune's final wishes for you... his team. Pyrrha openly crying.

Glynda: I Jaune Luna Arc being of sound mind and body hereby...

Nora: I wouldn't say that... is entirely true.

Glynda: divide the entirety of my estate as follows. To Pyrrha.

Civilian with passing resemblance to Jaune: Honey, they're talking about you.

Pyrrha: *sniffles* What?

Glynda: My dearest Pyrrha, the one who first believed in me and the future I wanted to achieve. My partner who helped me overcome my own foolishness and trained me to be not only a better combatant, but also a better person...
