Honestly, you should've known better. Soap was never one to take a joke and drop it, and joke like this? You should've know he'd take it and run with it. You just never thought it'd go this far.

Someone had brought cupcakes, the kind that come with those gaudy plastic rings meant for little kids. You and Soap had ended up with the same ring on top of your cupcakes.

"Oh, hey. They're the same. Guess we're married now."

It was a joke. Something you had laughed off, before ducking out of the break room, missing the way Soap's eyes followed you. Missing the way he stared at you, something dark and hungry in those baby blues.

The next morning, Soap's waiting at your desk with flowers and a coffee. He gives you a bright smile, watching you as you take the flowers with a smile.

"Oh, my favorite! How'd you know?"

"I know all yer favorites. Part of bein' a good husband, aye?"

That makes you pause, coffee halfway to your lips. Husband? It takes you a second to realize he's referring to the joke you made yesterday, and you give him a sheepish smile, shaking your head.

"Johnny, that was a joke. I wasn't -"

"I've got to go. But I'll get ye later. Make a proper wife of ye before the day's over," he promises, leaning down to kiss your cheek.

You don't even have a chance to argue. And when he shows up with Ghost at the end of the day, all you can think to ask is why Ghost is there.

"Johnny said you needed a witness," is Ghost's reply.

chifuyu seeing his girlfriend in a sundress? oh, he’s gone.

it’s a lazy saturday afternoon, and you’re pushing him onto the couch, telling him you have a surprise. chifuyu waits patiently, a grin of anticipation spreading across his face, eyes twinkling with curiosity.

he hears your footsteps hurrying back to him, and as he turns around, his heart nearly stops. there you are, dressed in a soft green sundress with ruffles at the hem, the fabric flowing around you like a gentle breeze. the color complements your skin perfectly, and the way it hugs your figure makes his breath catch.

“so? what do you think? i saw it in that new shop yesterday and just couldn’t resist buying it!” you start rambling, excitement bubbling over as you gently flare the dress, swaying it back and forth with your hands. you spin around, the skirt twirling with you, and the sunlight filtering through the windows casts a soft glow around you, making you look almost ethereal.

but chifuyu can’t hear anything except the wedding bells ringing in his ears. his vision is filled with only you, every detail of you in that sundress, and the thought that he’s the luckiest guy in the world.

he snaps back to reality when you give him a little shake. “chifuyu?” you ask, a bit worried. “you spaced out, darling. are you okay?”

he blinks, his eyes refocusing on you. without a word, he gently cups your face with one hand, his thumb brushing your cheek as if to make sure you’re really there. “can i kiss you?” he asks softly, his voice almost a whisper.

you blush lightly and nod. “of course you ca—” but he doesn’t let you finish. he leans forward, capturing your lips in a sweet, lingering kiss. you let out a small squeak of surprise but quickly melt into the kiss, your hands cupping his face as his move down to your waist, pulling you closer.

his hands roam your body like he’s carefully molding something precious, exploring the curves and lines that he adores so much. he squeezes certain spots just to hear your flustered squeals, his heart swelling with love every time you react.

reluctantly, he pulls away when he needs air, his forehead resting against yours as he breathes you in. “you’re stunning,” he murmurs, his voice full of sincerity and awe of the woman before him.

you smile bashfully, your cheeks tinted with a rosy hue. “thank you,” you whisper back, feeling your heart flutter in your chest.

chifuyu just grins, his eyes shining with a mix of love and mischief. “you know,” he begins, his voice teasing, “if you keep wearing that dress, we might never leave this couch.” "oh chifuyu.."

Did Brambleclaw actually disown the Three when the secret is revealed? I don't remember this happening (then again, it's been a while) but it does bug me how all three go "Poor brambleclaw :(( He was such a good dad to us and he has to learn we're not even his biokits :(((( poor guy" while simultaneously shitting on Leafpool and Squirrelflight despite them showing them more care and affection before AND after the reveal. If he does disown them, then.... WOW is the double standard real here.

In-canon? It's something you have to approximate. They don't seem to have a concept of ""disowning"" because blood relation is taken as such an insurmountable, FUNDAMENTAL fact of life. He doesn't write them out of his little kitty will and testament, but his actions ARE disowning.

It's as if the fact he is not their biological father is an automatic disowning. From the reveal onwards, he is immediately cold, distant, and the "betrayal" is mentioned often. The Three also explicitly don't blame him for his behavior, like it's just to be expected that he's Not Their Dad anymore.

Lionblaze in particular stares longingly at him several times, really missing him. And like... that's kinda what gets my goat so much

I do believe Brambleclaw is entitled to his feelings of betrayal. I believe Squilf was ultimately in the right to lie, actually, but he's still allowed to be upset and angry that she didn't trust him enough to tell him something so important. THAT SAID, YOU ARE NEVER ENTITLED TO TREAT OTHERS POORLY.

And that's what GETS me. He isn't upset that it was all revealed in such a painful and embarassing way when this could have been avoided, or that his lover struggled with this lie for so long without him, or that he feels he's lost his children. Squilf points it out in The Last Hope-- He's so ANGRY at Squilf that he will THROW HIS FAMILY AWAY

Lionblaze seems desperate to be his son again. Hollyleaf is gone for months, and Brambleclaw is still huffing about the secret when she comes back from the dead. Squilf is fawning in the hopes it makes him talk to her again. Doesn't matter. Brambleclaw Is Upsetti Spaghetti so the narrative will never examine his role in hurting this family he apparently loved so much.

(Narrative seems to understand full well that when Squilf lies for a good reason, that doesn't invalidate the hurt Brambleclaw felt... but when Brambleclaw is upset for a good reason, it actually DOES validate what he put her and his kids through)

In BB it is explicitly a disowning. He cuts them off as his children, and they reciprocate. BB!Lionblaze does so in a ball of fury, vowing that he has ONLY a mother.
