A perhaps unpopular opinion and some headcannons of mine:

First time writing headcannons here, kinda nervous...

I can't see Rin as a green flag like people say, not that I'm saying he's a red flag or anything.

From the beginning of the manga, it is shown that his personality is not very friendly, he is someone with a cold and stoic facade, which at first would not be very pleasant for some people. In my opinion, for a long time after the incident with Sae, he began to think that romantic relationships or something like that were something futile, that would only hinder him in his main objective.

Probably when he found himself in a romantic relationship with someone, it would be something strange and new for him, like, he thought it was useless. It would take a while for him to trust you 100%, the thoughts in his head eating away at him for a long time since the beginning of all this, telling him that he shouldn't trust you, what if you left him without explanation like his brother did to him? It made him sick and insecure, but he didn't want to show weakness in front of you.

He wasn't the talkative or touching type at first, so long minutes of silence would pass between the two of you in the room if you didn't say something or try to start a conversation. You couldn't really tell if he truly liked you, he almost never complimented you or anything, plus he seemed so... distant. That would leave anyone in doubt, wouldn't it? So it would require a lot of patience on your part if you wanted the youngest Itoshi to open up to you.

He tried to push those negative thoughts aside, wanting to trust you completely, but he just couldn't, something in his mind always made him go back when it came to trusting someone. And when he finally made the decision to trust you, he swore he could feel uncomfortable and... invigorated to finally have someone he could trust, to vent to, someone that he could turn to for comfort when his negative thoughts and bad memories from his past came back to haunt him.

In my defense about not thinking Rin would be a green flag: At first he doesn't fit the "green flag" standard or anything like that that is talked about on the internet. He doesn't seem like the type of guy who would open up to you or have complete trust in you at the beginning of the relationship, please be patient regarding trust, it's understandable that he has his doubts (yk what am I talking about). FOR ME, he would be a yellow flag, as long as he gains your trust, it's possible for him to show a side that he rarely lets anyone see.

Please don't take this as me saying that Rin would be an abusive person or a bad partner, I just gave my point of view because I don't think he would be a 100% green flag. I'm afraid I mischaracterized him too much, so I apologize in advance, you are free to have your own point of view about him, that's fine, but don't come criticizing me for giving mine.
