see my brain just doesn’t register the idea of anyone having a ‘one true love’ which is why the common fandom tropes of making canonical love interests terrible in order to justify why your ship is better always bugs the shit out of me. it feels like the only reason you would do that is if the idea of the characters in your ship having any other sort of romantic relationship that was important to them, even in the past, is a threat to their current one, therefore all their past relationships need to be demonized in order to make them ‘not real love’ so that they remain pure and chaste and ready for the True Love of the endgame ship.

You know, it’s crazy how terfs will be like “I’m a feminist!” And then be like “hmm, this woman has too broad of shoulders/has too masculine of facial features/is too strong/is willing to fight for her rights/is in anyway different from the idea of traditional femininity, must be trans” when referring to both cisgender and transgender women. This won’t happen, but I think it’d be really cool if after we took a couple of days to grieve, we just started throwing stuff at the wall to see if anything will stick. I think it’d be really cool if the ACLU and other organizations looked into people’s stories of not being allowed to vote, or anything else, and at least tried to do something about it, right now, before January ever starts.

I think it’d be really cool if there was mass protesting, and lawsuits, and dissent, and political leaders doing what they can to keep us safe. I want state governments to outline a plan to keep us safe. I want to know that these people are not going to sit by and watch this happen in silence. and I think it’d be really cool if that mass protesting caused Biden to step down and hand the reigns over to Harris who refused to transfer power under the threat that a completely unbalanced government poses.

I know nothing will stop what’s going to happen, but we have two and half months, we do not have to go into this silently. I am sick and tired of democrats in office trying to be the bigger person. There are ways they can fight back within legal parameters. There are things they can do now to make things even just a little more difficult in January and I want them to take every advantage they can claw up from this mess of a government. I want them to get down and dirty and fight with every last ounce they have.

I want them to fight until the last second and then I want them to continue to fight and resist and do the jobs they got hired for. I want them to give a shit and I want them to show that with action.

I just want someone with the power to do literally anything, to give enough of a fuck to try and do literally anything.

The whole point of the community is that gender and sexuality are more fuckity wuckity than man or woman, gay or straight and in almost 2024 we STILL have mfs going “nah that’s not a thing :/ you don’t belong in the community” unless they’re causing harm to others I seriously urge you to shut the fuck up. It is the easiest thing in the world to just say “hmm I don’t really understand that. But it’s their life and none of my business” and just move on with your life and let people live theirs. I’m happy that they’ve found a way to express their identity that feels true to them and then I think about it no further. Like it takes active mental energy and emotion to get pressed over how someone expresses themselves and I don’t understand why you’d put yourself through that stress and then decide to be bitchy and make people feel like shit for being themselves. I’m seriously getting so tired of people in the community acting like it’s a fucking competition or you can only join if you meet X Y and Z criteria as if it’s some college mean girls sorority club. No but being transgender right now is fucking insane. Because you’re supposed to vote to preserve your right to gender affirming healthcare. But then you research your ballot and you know that some of these people hate you and want you dead or ran out of the state. And then the people that are supposed to be on your side and were when you initially checked, have changed their minds at the last minute and started using the same language as the people who hate you. But you’re still supposed to vote for them. But you can’t trust any of them to actually support your community.

The lack of source checking in conservative circles is fucking horrific. They take everything at headline value and don’t actually think about implications. Like jfc guys it’s not that hard to actually click on the article and read the SECOND PARAGRAPH about how the protestors specifically rioted in regards to the attacker’s SPECULATED ethnicity and terrorism being ruled out as a motive. They don’t care about his actual motive or the people they hurt - they just want more political ammunition for their anti-immigration views and they’re mad it’s not being handed to them on a silver platter. They set a cop car and double decker bus on fire in their tantrum about border control. That’s why it’s far-right - they’re a bunch of anti-immigration racists, not reasonable people deeply concerned about kids getting stabbed.
