Mirabel: Isabela! What have you done?!
Isabela: Nothing?
Julieta, sighing: Señor Castro's house is all wrapped in urtica. He was all burned
Isabela: Well, he deserved it! He misgendered Dolores.
Julieta: Can you do this once again so I don't heal him this time?
Mirabel: Is Lola okay? I'm gonna check on her
Pepa: *has a death look in her eyes as the clouds getting thicker*
Pepa: Somebody dared to misgender Mi Hijita and you didn't tell me?

ppl are too quick to point to laios' disability as the reason his friends think he's a freak sometimes. so many instances of laios getting yelled at are, in my eyes, a case of "this guy had to emotionally mature very early in order to be there for his little sister" combined with "much older friends who never had to learn to manage their own emotions to the same degree"
a lot of the time he's right about needing to be more direct/deal with things in a way that may seem scary/needing to put your gut reaction aside. he tries not to make his friends uncomfortable and he puts up with a lot because he's trying to keep the peace, but he also pushes the others out of their comfort zones purposefully to try to get them to think more constructively. everyone else in the party is prone to acting on their gut instincts and avoiding uncomfortable situations even when facing them head-on is very much necessary. part of what makes laios such a great leader is the fact that he knows from experience how to put his own feelings aside to help someone else grow.
yes, he does make a lot of social blunders by accident and he does struggle to connect with others, but not all of his positive influence on others is accidental or "despite" making people uncomfortable. a lot of the time, I think it's clear he knows exactly what he's doing and he's trying to help the people around him process emotions in a healthy way as they all go through some truly harrowing shit. all the main characters support each other as well as they can with their unique emotional skillsets. laios' skillset just happens to be "gently talk child into eating her vegetables"
#deerchatter#dungeon meshi#laios touden#of course this IS also connected to his disability. bc having an iron grip on your own emotional reaction is often needed to survive#in an ableist society. and he wouldn't have had to parent falin so much if the two of them hadn't been ostracized growing up#but the point of the post is that laios is a lot more emotionally intelligent than his party (or many fans) realizes#he's not just stumbling ass-first into being helpful he is clearly applying a skillset that is direly lacking in his friends#marcille and chilchuck in particular haaaaate uncomfy situations and are under the impression that if smth Feels bad then it Is bad.#and senshi avoids so many situations and feelings because of his trauma that he's been unable to grow past it on his own#this post was particularly inspired by the griffin meat scene. everyone else suggests senshi just avoid his trauma forever#and they're absolutely shocked when laios suggests senshi try to grow and overcome his pain bc. That Sounds Scary. lol#so many of the story's themes revolve around overcoming your own impulses and biases#and laios is uniquely suited to leading that change.#r.i.p. laios/toshiro friendship you guys have so much more in common than you realize

one, being a number, is used to shapeshifting because that's how numbers are! they change and shift aalll the time and she's also used to being 2d because every algebralien can be tied back to the little symbols we see on the page. they're built for it

my second pass at a sonadow fankid. this time, it's a little more serious than the looney tune that is dawn lol.
this is 3. he was created by tails in an effort to develop the "ultimate defense system."
basically, tails was thinking back on how, during the forces war, eggman was able to conquer the world when sonic and shadow weren't around. and, well, he got a little worked up remembering that! he got mad! yeah--real mad!
so, tails did what all great minds do when they get mad, and he conducted some... let's say... unethical science experiments.
#sonic#sonic the hedgehog#sth#sonadow#sonic oc#3 the hedgehog#scribbles#dawn the creature#maybe if shadow hadn't super destroyed the rest of the black arms he wouldn't have to deal with these#unwanted and previously unknown failsafe instincts that were hardcoded into his dna :/#cuz wouldn't you know it! super powerful aliens don't like it when they get wiped out and will do anything they can to survive!#which includes INTENSE parental instincts#tails did not account for this. of course#also only now am i realizing 3 :handshake: prism = tails' hubris

people not realizing that peeta wasn't the only one heartbroken after the first game will never not piss me off. she is confused but she is also so sad 😭. like come on listen to what she's sayiiiiiing: i also want to tell him how much i already miss him. but that wouldn’t be fair on my part...
his voice isn’t angry. it’s hollow, which is worse. already the boy with the bread is slipping away from me. i take his hand, holding on tightly, preparing for the cameras, and dreading the moment when i will finally have to let go.
you mean to tell me this girl doesn't have any feelings for this boy and that it was all a survival tactic?? fuck off. seriously.
#that *that wouldn't be fair on my part* thing always makes me go crazy#i said it a bunch of times already but the fact that she's even thinking about what would or would not be fair of her to say#if it was only survival and nothing else she would not be thinking like this#USE YOUR BRAIN#THE THING IN YOUR HEAD#YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND BECAUSE SHE CALLS HIM UNFAIR HERSELF AND YET SHE DOESN'T WANT TO BE UNFAIR TO HIM#SHE STILL HAS A RIGHT TO BE UNFAIR HERE AND SHE CHOOSES NOT TO#DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANSS#i can't#just the way she explains this whole thing#YOU ARE A POET AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT#thg#everlark

At some point in your life, there will be a moment where exactly - or near exactly - half the people in the world are younger than you, and half the people are older.
And I think that moment should be the one your soulmate Mark appears at, not at birth or puberty or something. Both because at birth is kind of boring but it's also very you-centric and soulmates are about the thing outside of you being a part of you, and I think it would be nice to include The World.
But also I think it would have fascinating implications for scientific and social studies. Longevity trends tracked by the average age soul marks appear. Tragedies causing a rash of recent marks to disappear (because the people are no longer the middle). Marks appearing early during baby booms.
#soulmates#i just think it would be neat#and let people survive their teenage years#and discover who they are before they get told who they're matched with#gives everyone a chance to fall in love naturally#AND best of all#it means YOUR mark may appear now but if your soul mate is younger than you#it wouldn't appear for them yet#meaning a new dynamic and honestly less stress i think#because if you fall in love with someone not your soulmate you wouldn't necessarily know#unless you were the exact same age somehow#which tbh since soulmates isn't romantic a large portion of the time#twins probably share a mark#in this world you can have as many soulmates as you want btw#you can have pets be soulmates too but their mark appears when#they're the middle point for their species#i should really sleep#nightblogging

"Formula 1 should be very grateful that Daniel Ricciardo stopped by and drove his heart out. It was wonderful to watch."
Drive Daniel to Survive season 1 -> season 7
#if anyone has a pic of daniel in season 1 or 2 holding the clapperboard or if you remember what ep that happens in please help a gal out#I just spent way too long going back through dts epidoses trying to find it to no avail#anyway the show literally wouldn't have existed without him and the sport would be in a verrrry different place today without it#F1 owes a lot of it's current popularity to daniel ricciardo and I just think it's important to remind people of that!!#daniel ricciardo#dr3#drive to survive#dts#formula 1#f1

the way the olympians treat zagreus in hades is so funny. they're always like 'haha you're so cute and fun and [insert whatever trait each particular god is into]!! unlike all the FAKES and HOES that live here upon olympus, you somehow happen to have the perfect kind of vibe that appeals to ME, guy who i can barely see and that can't respond to me!! i'm definitely not projecting what i'd like you to be like btw'
#you just know that their good will with zagreus wouldn't survive a week of actually living with him. be honest#hades game

#and so started my personal joke of komaeda being sayaka 2 (yes I know they're quite different but this was chapter 1 and I love Maizono)#danganronpa#makoto naegi#hajime hinata#sayaka maizono#nagito komaeda#well yes they are quite different but they also both befriend and are liked by the player character in chapter 1#then decide their personal hangup is stronger than their feelings of connection to the player character#resulting in a betrayal#but also. you ever think about how naegi remembers maizono so fondly because maizono died?#and that her last action before death was a hint to help him?#bc if she survived otherwise he'd instead have to face the fact he trusted and was betrayed#so shoutout to komaeda living out that universe for hinata#and really the only reason he survived was bc imposter/luck. and in another universe he could have died and left hinata#with less a sense of betrayal and more a sense of loss#so yeah. komaeda is maizono 2 but with more problems To Me#or at least until later in the game where he gets worse in a way maizono wouldn't#dr playthrough doodles#my art

luke was so done with june in this episode and you can tell. i genuinely believe it's canon that once he saw nick & june together he just checked out of his marriage and moved on immediately.
#i always said luke wouldn't survive seeing osblaine together and i was right LOL#his monotone 'love you too' as he walked away without looking at her was comedy gold#the handmaid's tale#rae.txt#osblaine

"Eddie said he's straight! Buck said Eddie was straight! Buck said he's not in love with his best friend! They shut down Buddie in the show it isn't happening ya'll are delusional! Queerbait! Queerbait! Blah blah blah"
I feel like I'm going insane. I'm sure we're all tired of people shouting "media literacy" every five seconds, but like... Yeah, develop some media literacy, please.
I'm saying this as someone who doesn't usually like romance, despite being subjected to it in basically every piece of media. As someone who doesn't generally look for love stories. As someone who loved Buddie but didn't consider any serious possibility of it becoming canon before season 7/8, who refused to believe Buddie was truly happening until I couldn't deny it anymore: this episode is loud.
Please understand how narrative arcs work. How character arcs work. How character development works. How serial broadcast television works. Understand how writing works. Consider context; take the whole episode, the whole season, and the whole series into account instead of treating things like they exist in isolation.
I'm too tired to go through the step-by-step details of the episode to prove why these, "they said it on screen, therefore..." takes are shortsighted and ignorant; plenty of people have done that already.
But that episode, even if we do take it in isolation, is textbook. Do people really take everything characters say at face value? Do people not watch other character's reactions? Listen to what else is being said? Watch what is being shown? Consider the implications? Themes? Narrative devices?
Consider that maybe, just maybe, characters can be unreliable narrators, or believe something to be true only for that belief to change later. These things don't happen in one episode. There's such a thing as set-up, foreshadowing, the starting point of a plot. 911 is a serial drama, therefore it is going to have A) long-form story and character arcs, and B) drama.
Characters are not going to move in straight lines, or talk in therapy speak, or solve every problem in an hour. They are not always going to be right, or self-aware, or truthful, or rational. Direct dialogue does not equate to honest dialogue.
Also, saying, "well in real life, people do this, I do that, their feelings would be this, yadda yadda yadda" means nothing. Your experiences are not universal, and more importantly, this is a work of fiction. Realism is whatever the story says it is; it's going to do whatever creates the most dramatic, interesting, developmentally beneficial, or emotionally satisfying story. Whether you like that story or not is irrelevant to the fact that stories are not going to cater to all your expectations or real-world experiences.
To people pointing to Tim or the actor's interviews as "proof" they're shutting down Buddie: again, please understand how broadcast television works. They are not going to tell us everything that's going to happen before it happens. They are going to play the neutral zone, the "wait and see," the "will they/won't they." They are going to lie. That is television production 101. You can compare what they've said in the past with canon and list all the contradictions, misdirection, and twists you didn't see coming because they didn't spoil it for you. Watch the show. That is the canon.
They're also not catering to fandom--people they already know are devoted to the show, familiar with Buddie, and consistently tuning in. They're introducing the idea of Buddie to the general audience, people who likely haven't considered the possibility before. The GA has to see that Buddie is an option, so the show needs to manifest it as if it's a brand new concept. This episode pulled the pin on that grenade in a very obvious way; the idea that Buck could be in love with Eddie and that Eddie could not be straight has been planted. The next seed will be Eddie's feelings. Now the show needs to water it and let it grow.
One last thing. Been seeing a fair amount of hand-wringing and condescension over people interpreting this episode differently. As if this is some sort of "gotcha" for bad writing, baiting, or people being stupid. Listen, genuine complaints about this show's writing aside, different interpretations or inferences are completely normal. This isn't unique. That is how people interact with stories, through personal biases, experiences, emotions, and expectations. That isn't inherently a bad thing. It's totally fine to have your own views; media is all about interpretation.
However, it is also true that just because you have an interpretation, that doesn't make it true. Not all interpretations are equal in their validity, evidence, or warrants. The show has an intention, it has a story in mind. If you don't see it, sure, that could be a failure of the writing, but it could also very well be a failure of your analysis, especially when the show hasn't finished telling the story. Looking at one thing in isolation and forming your whole conclusion based around that makes for poor critique.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see who's right.
#911#911 abc#911 spoilers#buddie#ramblings#911 discourse#I guess#I usually keep my mouth shut in this fandom but I am exhausted#i am not working through a degree in narrative writing and media literacy to watch people fail this badly at critical analysis#also hate people shouting “queerbait” going “well as a *fandom elder* who survived destiel/sterek/johnlock/etc.” or whatever#bruh I grew up on that shit too please just shut uuuuuup#like be honest those weren't going to happen and it was obvious from watching the shows (not that ships need to be canon anyways)#I know queerbaiting is traumatizing but you have got to stop throwing that word around so casually and before the story is even finished#this is a whole different show with several established queer characters in a different era of television#the fact buddie is a big open topic of media discussion now is also huge--it's being established in the minds of the public#and yeah yeah “they're baiting” but do you not see how in this day and age queerbaiting would effectively be career suicide?#also they aren't relying on shippers to keep their ratings afloat#if they weren't going to do buddie they wouldn't keep leaving the question open-ended it's a catch-22 at this point#i know pessimism is all the rage but i'm begging you to try optimism and good-faith and maybe some positivism

im sorry but Fallout fans on Reddit casually have like the worst opinions ever
what the fuck do you mean “bitter springs was justified” or the great khans somehow deserved to have many of their children killed. also @ people who think vera deserved her fate. you know, some girl in a very uneven power dynamic who was being blackmailed through her terminal illness. also also them ignoring the nuances of joshua's character because edgy badass "we can't expect god to do all the work". Bonus points it's all three
#actually seriously#yeah you can sympathize with the guy who willingly assimilated people into an empire built on slavery and brainwashing and repented#(only after he survived being cast out and executed though)#but the children in Bitter Springs just shouldn't have been part of the great khans so they wouldn't have gotten shot?#but a terminally ill young woman who was implied to be sexually exploited was just an evil dumb bitch i guess?#????!??!#dead money#vera keyes#great khans#fallout#fallout new vegas#fnv
