hiiiii so today im yapping abt something that is NOT CoD related :o ENJOYYYYY

So the most important thing about my understanding of the book is that I was a rebellious little shite at the time. So, I mostly expected the ending to be more like - Gregor turns back human and says smth among the lines of: This is how you treat me? I'M LEAVING! (again, i know this was really dumb to think but i was in 6th grade be nice) or as I got further into the book, and he got worse, I wanted it to end like

he dies, and his corpse turns back human, leaving his family in grief and full of guilt.

or,

Gregor stays a cockroach but finds out a way to communicate with his family and lives on.

While I was rooting for the really dramatic ending expecting one of these types of endings, the actual ending hit me like a truck. The ending felt just. Empty. And I don't mean it as an insult or in any means in a condescending way. I just can't find a way to describe how it made me feel more accurately. It just completely left me speechless how easily they could give up on a family member, their provider, their child.

But now, when I read it again after years, I realise how he wasn't human anymore. Like, I subconsciously ignored how he slowly got further away from humanity the first time I read it, mostly because I saw myself in him and wanted a really, REALLY dramatic happy ending for him. You know what? Scratch that. I didn't want that ending for him, I thought he deserved it. But now, I kind of understand the Samsa's decision to move on and let the past go - it just shocked me how fast they could do that.

P/S: im genderfluid and Gregor Samsa was my gender envy for a long, long time.

i really like the idea of the winners of each season continuing to live (alone) in each world they won in..i know all of them except scar canonically die at the end but just imagine. Grian lives (alone) in the desert. Scott has the Scottage (alone). Pearl stays in her tower (she doesnt even have Tilly). Martyn has the whole Limlife server and roams around scavenging (he cant bring himself to go back to the Mean Gills base after what he did). Scar obviously lives at Trader Scar's and Cleo has a tiny janky world with the little village (at least she has villagers for company, they suppose. It's better than nothing.)

And now Joel lives in his car next to a burnt and crumbling barn, alone.

ok so theyve all got the classic face WHY DONT THEY ABUSE IT!!!! horror gets to do a little paper mache to cover up his head hole and then wearing glasses. killer i dont know what the FUCK he can do to get rid of his perpetual tears but let's just pretend that theyre conveniently gone for now. and then all dust has to do is put down his hood! anyways identity theft is cool. imagine how much they could totally fuck up classic's reputation with this. set up fake tinder profiles and then scam people for their credit card info/free dates (while ordering every expensive thing) and stealing wallets. walking into various grillby's's around the multiverse and telling terrible jokes. like ACTUALLY bad jokes. and then of course just being a huge piece of shit at the bar. god theres so many things they could do pretending to be classic. which one of us is hikaru looking ahh except the only difference between the three is the color of the stains on their clothes (either gray (dust) black (killer) or red. well faded red (horror))

ROBBERY!!!! ROBBERIES PLURAL!!!??? train robbery gas station robbery bank robbery GOVERNMENT robbery (what would you rob the government for?? documents??? idk) anyways. mtt robbing a train except its just a really shitty plan and they dont know jackshit about what theyre doing. killer's taken over the conductor's cabin and now he is booking it. how fast are trains allowed to go idk but the maximum. anyways meanwhile horror's on the tracks fucking up the rails with his strength or whatever (listen i know he's weak but picking and choosing what hcs i believe in is my art) and dust is there to teleport him away before the train crashes into him and turns him into a trolley problem victim. and then of course that shit doesnt fucking work and the train just ends up flipping over and catching on fire or something (killer survives because of course he does he's killer). and then in the end dust just has to flip the entire train over and they just stroll into the part that actually HAS the money

and then they go out and get ice cream. sometimes the murderers need to take a break from murdering and just do NORMAL crime yk???

ortega ended up hallucinating sidestep after they "died", but sidestep doesnt know about that. they know it got bad, but never the full extent of how their death affected them. so if your sidestep Did learn, if they found out ortega looked for them in every little piece they could, would that change anything for your sidesteps? would their relationship with ortega be any different?

allison and five are actually fascinating to write together. allison is the sibling for checking on people and asking in plain english if they're okay but five would literally rather bleed out than show a shred of vulnerability

genuinely killing undyne in a neutral run and then walking through hotland later and seeing alphys' posts go "just realized i didn't watch undyne fight the human... well i know she's unbeatable i'll ask her about it later v . v" completely unaware of what's happened is one of the most unpleasant and harrowing experiences in undertale and i am not kidding even a little bit

Y'know what, I think maybe I don't need any more Murderbot books. I think maybe ending things here is fucking perfect and as much as I love Wells's writing I'm genuinely not sure it can get better for me.

Like, so much of the books are about MB learning how to be a person, about becoming okay with being a complete individual with everything it entails. The first thing it does once it's actually allowed to decide on its own is it runs away from it all (admittedly to go on a mission to confirm some things about its past, because it genuinely just wants to be *good*). It shoves all its emotions away as much as it's able to. Then shit happens, and it makes its first friends, makes decisions based on these friendships, goes through a lot of emotionally intense situations...

And we get to this point here. MB having zero doubts about going with ART says a lot about its relationship with ART, but it also says a lot about its relationship with its humans - it knows that wherever it goes, when it comes back, the humans will still be there. Its humans actively acknowledge its struggles with being a now-free SecUnit and MB is willing to entertain the discussions to an extent and share information about its deeply personal experiences. Hell, System Collapse ends with MB admitting it might be somewhat broken, but that's okay as long as it can keep doing its job, and agreeing to basically do counselling - this is the guy what would rewatch its favourite TV show again and again in order to avoid acknowledging it even had Emotions a couple books back.

Reading this, I know that MB will be okay. It has hopes and goals and genuinely believes in itself and it has an amazing support system that its willing to lean on for the first time in its life. I'm convinced it'll go on to do great things with ART. And that's really the only thing I need to know.

I think Daniel jumping to say "he didn't save you" isn't supposed to be taken as absolute fact when Armand DID save him, he just didn't make the grand gesture of saving him in front of the coven when it mattered, at the trial. Armand took out the coffin from the morgue, gave Louis his blood in order to be revived, and gave him the out he needed in order to get out of Paris. But he didn't stand for Louis publicly, and he didn't just sell him and Claudia out. He directed the entire play and played a full hand at getting Claudia killed. There's a world of difference between "being stuck in a corner" to choose between the coven and Louis, and willingly directing them to kidnap, beat up, torture and then humiliate them in front of a live audience.
