However, a second locality was found recently in Peru (much of the material on the market comes from the Peruvian mines). This Bolivianite is not to be confused with the original name given to Ametrine, when it was newly discovered in Bolivia. Since this mineral was recently discovered, much debate is still ongoing in regards to its exact chemical makeup and theory of creation. Most signs point towards it being a combination of Serpentine and Fluorite. Bolivianite contains powerful calming and balancing energies. This will allow one to fully ground themselves into Mother Earth during deep meditative sessions. As your internal roots begin to expose themselves and dig deeper into our planet, one will soon notice newly found levels of openness and acceptance. Thoughts and ideas which may have seemed so foreign, will now begin to fill your mental space. Physical energies you may have not known existed will begin to spew out and fuel your inner willpower. Your dreams and desires will now become a priority and all available strength will be channeled into accomplishing your goals. You may notice newly found levels of openness and acceptance. It is a powerful Karmic cleanser and releases mental obsessions. Bolivianite creates healthy energetic boundaries, aids in meditation, calms an over active mind, brings peace and happiness, and assists with accomplishing goals. Bolivianite will have the combined properties of Purple Flourite And Serpentine as noted below:
Purple Flourite
Purple Fluorite is the most peace-giving of the Fluorites, dedicated to the devotional aspects of the mind that connect with Spirit. It purifies the mind and enhances mental acuity, stimulating the Third Eye Chakra in order to bring a logical and conscious awareness of the mental processes and how one thinks. It is an excellent crystal for focused meditation and boosts one’s intuitive and psychic abilities. Purple Fluorite is a stone of protection, thought to become more protective the longer it is used, and is an ideal “Dream Crystal,” defending one from evil spirits and bad dreams. It radiates a marvelous energy throughout the light body relieving stress, spiritual discomfort, and physical blockages. Metaphysical Heaing Properties Of Bolivianite Fluorite is composed of calcium fluoride and is a member of the Halide family. It is transparent to translucent with a vitreous luster, and crystallizes in well-formed isometric cubes, nodules, clusters, or in massive form. It is the only common mineral with perfect cleavage in four directions, a characteristic that may be visible to the naked eye in clear stones as subtle etchings permeating the entire crystal. This cleavage frequently produces perfect octahedrons, and more rarely dodecahedrons and other complex forms, including penetration twins as if one cube were growing into or out of another. Fluorite is the reference mineral for a hardness of four on the Mohs Hardness Scale, making it too soft for everyday wear as a gem, though it is carved into wonderful faceted stones and sold as collector’s specimens or used in jewelry that is not subject to impact or abrasion. Purple Fluorite is believed to deepen our psychic awareness and perceptual vision and to assist one to perceive the other dimensional realms and realms of the spiritual. It teaches us discernment awakening one to their bias and deceptive beliefs. It channels healing energies to body and energy bodies to assist in the transmutation and transformation of our thoughts, actions and reactions that have ever been done from a place of discord or fear rather than love. Purple Fluorite supports spiritual expansion and enhances our insight and vision into self and the spiritual realms. It sharpens one’s mental aptitude, concentration and memory and instills a sense of peace and calm. Purple Fluorite enhances intuition and brings order out of chaos. Purple Fluorite dispels negative energy, especially from the environment, such as electromagnetic smog from computers and the like. It then re-energizes the atmosphere. This is a wonderful crystal to have on hand when you need to come up with new ideas; are brainstorming; have writer’s block, or need to get out of a mental rut. Purple Fluorite is excellent at increasing one’s mental capacities and inspiring creativity. Metaphysical Heaing Properties Of Bolivianite Purple Fluorite keeps you on track and focused on the job at hand, whether it is work related or studying for exams. Keep it with you if you find your mind wandering. It can gently encourage struggling students, especially those with learning disabilities, as it assimilates new information and provides for quick thinking. Purple fluorite is tagged as the most peace-giving stone of all fluorites and is committed to the devotional facets of the mind linked to the spirit. The stone is known to purify the mind and improve mental acuity, kindling the Third Eye Chakra to initiate a logical and cognizant awareness of how thinking occurs in one’s mind and how the mental processes work. When placed on the third eye or crown chakra, the stone can improve communication with nature spirits, angels, and spirit guides.
Serpentine
This stone is an exceptional meditation stone, it will assist one in finding inner peace, as well as clearing the mind to become closer with oneself. Elemental beings may be encouraged to make contact with you and using this stone may also aid you to make contact with angelic guidance. It aids in meditation and enhances spiritual exploration. Serpentine assists the retrieval of wisdom, helping to regain memory of past lives. It clears the chakras and stimulates the crown chakra, opening psychic abilities. Serpentine has been traditionally used for Kundalini activation and clearing blocked energy centers. This stone opens new pathways for the kundalini energy to rise. Serpentine helps you to be more in control of your life. Serpentine is associated with the serpent or the snake. The serpent’s energy is one of rebirth. According to one ancient legend, Adam choked on the forbidden apple when he tasted it. when he spat it out, it turned into Serpentine. According to legend, Romans used this stone as protection against sorcery and the dark arts. Vessels were made of serpentine, as they were said to shatter is they came into contact with poison. Therefore many ancients began using serpentine to craft drinking vessels. In ancient Assyria, it is told that this stone was carried to request of the gods and goddess to provide blessings. In China and India it is quite often incorporated into altars, carvings temple decorations, as it is seen as a protective stone that will bring peace. Serpentine was named in 1564 by Georgius Agricola for the Latin term “serpens”, “snake”, in allusion to the mottled green appearance of the mineral suggesting the resemblance to some snakes. This inner power is accessed through realms such as deep meditation, the use of Serpentine crystals, and yoga. Once released, an effect known as a Kundalini Awakening will begin to take place. When experiencing this great awakening you may feel more in-tune with yourself and notice signs of your inner intuition come to life. This intellectual upgrade tends to lead to an expansion of the mind and attunement to higher realms. To reach these realms one must be willing to open their pineal gland and restore the true confidence of our own mental abilities. Metaphysical Heaing Properties Of Bolivianite In crystal medicine, the Serpentine crystal stone meaning embodies the power of creation, sexuality, and fertility, which represents the life force of our ever-spinning planet. On a physiological level, it helps balance out the hormones, making it an excellent energy supplement for that time of the month. And yes, men also have hormonal cycles, which makes Serpentine a powerful stone for both the male and female energies. The Serpentine meaning reminds us to shoot for the stars, because everybody’s inner child knows their true purpose in life. Even if your dreams have been buried by societal expectations and demands of adulthood, the Serpentine crystal stone meaning serves as the catalyst to free you from the shackles of society and self-imposed limitations. Serpentine is soothing to the emotional body, allowing you to release your fear of change and hardship so that you are able to look ahead to the future with expectation and excitement. It reminds you of the great span of time that the Earth and Nature have been learning, versus the relatively short time that humanity has inhabited this planet. This perspective can help you feel less self centered and more willing to spend time and energy contributing to the greater good, rather than focusing solely on personal goals. Serpentine can help you to be less sensitive to the thoughts, comments or opinions of others. It can help you feel more self confident and less invested in receiving external praise or appreciation. Serpentine is a stone of independence. It engenders a sense of being protected, stimulating you to move into new realms and social circles without hesitancy or fear.

ANNOUNCING A 3 DAY WORKSHOP ON THE
7th /9th/11th of NOVEMBER
Day 1) CLEARING THE VICTIM /PERSECUTOR ARCHETYPE UPGRADING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM :
Beloveds,We have recently shifted timelines…We moved off the timeline of the victim / tyrant polarity that runs this planet…It will still play out, but we don’t have to engage in that dimension…We have choice…What this means is that some of the deepest strands of the archetypal victim pattern are up on the surface, ready to clear…On this call, we help that process along…We are also opening to some of the very beautiful upgrades that are happening in and around the physical body…Here we will focus on the spine and sacrum…These are places of extraordinary activity…Along with the rest of the nervous system,we have numbed these down in order to survive the harshness of brutal lifetimes on this planet…
On this call we will be opening this innate sensitivity back up,and receiving new strandings, wiring, and coding for the next phase of our evolution…
The energetic influx on this call will be very powerful,a re-weaving of personal sovereignty, right through the spine and sacrum…Beautiful energies, penetrating very deep into the bodies structure…Together with all the beings of Light that I work with, and your higher selves,we will co ~ create a field around the planet that has a balancing, and harmonising effect on the wider collective…
Day 2) FEAR AND ITS ANTIDOTE :
Beloveds,We are programmed to believe that action out in the world,is the most important thing we can do…Yet energy comes before matter…Working in the energetic worlds often negates the need for action,or makes the action much easier…I think we as a race are largely programmed into the belief that doing has more value than being, and so we have become unbalanced…This call is the antidote to the fear broadcast that is affecting the collective consciousness…
We will be allowing these very high frequency energies to create reality through us…To recognise that we are architects and creator beings,we are not victims of our reality, our world unless we make it so…
I often think that I am not doing enough, should be doing more to make a difference in the world…In my mind, still,my doing something means taking action at a physical level…Demonstrating, resisting, fighting…I have been told over and over that that is not what I am here to do,that my focus is to help build the new world in the energetic realms…This is a difficult lesson for me to learn, and I know that it’s the same for many of you…
On this call,we will pay attention to the broadcast of fear and dismantle it in our fields, and see if a gathering of us can impact it for the planet…We will then open to these very high frequency energies available to us and integrate them, inviting the activation of deeper capacities and possibilities,to spin new worlds into being…
Day 3) 11/11 ACTUALISING THE FIELD OF GRACE
Beloveds,I used to always wonder why such beautiful support, energy, assistance and healing were available to me in my personal life…I have led a very “unspiritual” life, one deeply committed to food addictions, avoidance, laziness and resistance…And yet,all the way through, these shinning moments of staggering beauty and blessings were present…I would be flooded with light, drenched in clarity…I would be removed from sticky and sometimes dangerous situations…I loved these moments, was always amazed and delighted by them…And the Truth is that,i have always no matter how s****y i may have been,i have always accepted these Moments of Grace that have shown up to aid, support and heal me…Literally taking them as a given to happen,my birthright…More recently, I have come to understand that The Field of Grace is what we work with, and what works with us in the calls we do together,in my healing work…It works through me in the one to one work I offer too…One of the reasons is because i am completely SURRENDERED,and have 💯 % FAITH in God / Source / Maa…It is totally impersonal, and deeply personal at one and the same time…Cosmically intelligent,it will meet each of us exactly where we are,and move us forward, gently but insistently…It knows we showed up here at this time to participate in specific areas and activities of work, and it readies us for that…I think the Grace is also the work we came to do.Now, we are ready…Now it is ready…
So,on 11/11,which when is a super powerful potent portal of energy opens up for the planet…we will be working with the Field of Grace…It now wants to be present in us and as us,for us and through us…We will hold it for ourselves and as always for Mother Earth, and all of our brothers and sisters of every kingdom within and without her…Its going to be beautiful and exciting,we each will become a Portal of Grace, and we will hold that together as a planetary field too…Of course many are already working with this, but on the 11 th,there will be a huge amplification of this,a much deeper anchoring of it at a very personal level…
It will facilitate major clearing and up ~ leveling, upgrading shifts at a personal level,so that it can establish itself as you…We are meant to live Grace filled lives, now is the time to actualise that…
You can receive the FULL Healing Benefits, even without being LIVE on the call..!!!ALL Calls will be recorded and you will be given ACCESS to a DOWNLOADABLE REPLAY…ALL REPLAYS WILL BE FULLY ENERGIZED (AND ENERGETICALLY EQUAL TO THE LIVE SESSIONS)…

Warhammer 40K Darktide Patch Notes “Too Many to List,” but Here You Go
The Warhammer 40k Darktide patch notes for release 1.0.30 are here, and they’re big. So big, in fact, even developer Fatshark says “there are too many patch notes to publish in a single announcement.” With a tonne of quality-of-life enhancements, more rewarding challenges, and easier upgrades coming to the grimdark co-op game alongside a whole host of weapon balancing tweaks, there’s plenty to get dug into – so let’s give them a look and see what’s new. Right up front, you’ll be pleased to know that the vast majority of these changes are beneficial to players on and off the battlefield. Wargear sets are now available for customisation, meaning you can save up to five loadouts – including all your weapons and curios, cosmetics, and your chosen talents. If you’re after some particular gear pieces, you can now acquire specific weapons by mark at the Armoury Exchange. Changes to Sire Melk’s weekly contracts make them easier to complete, and with higher Ordo Ingots payouts for doing so. You’ll also be able to re-roll tasks an unlimited amount of times to get ones you’re happy with. There will be more available missions on the mission board as well, and the rewards will increase as you ramp up the difficulty. Prices at the Shrine of the Omnissiah have been adjusted based on item rating, making it “much more viable” for low-level modifications. You’ll also be able to extract blessings from weapons by sacrificing them, then use them on other weapons of the same mark. These earned blessings are shared across all characters on your account, too. In addition to this, consecrated items are now more likely to unlock higher tier perks and blessings. Warhammer 40k Darktide patch notes - menu screen for the re-blessing option at the Shrine of OmnissiahYou’ll now earn the Emperor’s Gift upon every successful mission completion, with increased difficulty level or additional conditions improving the chances of a higher rarity item being gifted. There’s plenty of nice quality-of-life upgrades, too. Weapon marks will now all have unique HUD icons, rather than sharing them across a weapon pattern – this means, for example, you can now clearly distinguish between each of the Psyker’s staves. Your inventory and those at stores can now be sorted by item rating or type, and a bunch of character emotes have been added that you can use while in the hub area. There’s also the aforementioned weapon balancing – most of this aims to buff weapon blessings that were considered weaker, with buffs to several blessings that Fatshark considered “modest or sometimes downright pointless in their old format.” It adds that the team welcomes continued player feedback following the update, and hopes to consider weapon blessing configurations as a core part of its patch rotation moving forward. FUSHIGURO MEGUMI || WITH YOU
| featuring : fushiguro megumi from jujutsu kaisen
| warnings : grammar errors, but other than that n/a
| form : imagine
| word count : 1773
| published : 05 december
| request : Can i have a regular black coffee with Megumi finding y/n crying on the bathroom floor bc she has been experiencing a burn out?🥺✨Your jujutsu kaisen writings is what keeps me sane at the moment💞😭✨
| barista’s notes : hey hey hey~ guess who is back? it’s me barista violettelueur ʕ •ᴥ•ʔゝ☆ and when i was typing this out, i was listening to ‘Lost in Paradise’ by ALI and AIKO, which all of you know, it’s jujutsu kaisen’s ending! i love it so so much ʕ→ᴥ← ʔ but lowkey, it doesn’t match the theme of this imagine here ʕ ㅇ ᴥ ㅇʔ other than that, thank you so much for loving my work and for the cup of classic black coffee order (jujutsu kaisen request!) and please come again soon!
Exhausted. Heavy. Drained. That was all you felt.
Once you were able to go through the door of your dorm room, all you wanted to do was to fall flat on to the wooden floor and lay there for who knows how long. 5 minutes? 30 minutes? An hour? Maybe even a whole day? You were just extremely exhausted. However, you knew that you had to train with your classmates for the Kyoto Sister School Goodwill Event the next day, so sleeping on the cold floor was no the best option.
Slowly struggling to make your way to your bathroom, you quickly gripped onto the side of the sink so you didn’t lose your balance due to your fatigue from today’s mission that you had to go on alone. From what you could even recall for the few past weeks, you were constantly being set on different missions at random times due to the lack of sorcerers there were in the school nowadays. From your knowledge, the third years were suspended for the time being, Gojo was constantly being set out for domestic travels as well as some business behind the scenes that you weren’t informed about, Nanami reported to you that he was investigating a crime that had occurred at Kinema Cinema and the first years (your year) and the second years were training for the event, leaving you the only Grade 1 sorcerer within Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College to be set these missions that seemed to be endless at this point.
Since the beginning, you knew that this was going to be your life once you step foot into the Jujutsu Sorcerer school, but you weren’t aware of the constant hardships that were randomly going to be set out to you. Ijichi even commented that this was unusual for a first-year student like you to be sent on numerous mission like the ones you’ve completed - some even being back to back on the same day - leading him to apologies every time you would enter his car to which you would always tell him that it was never his fault - how could it be? It wasn’t his fault that the higher-ups were demanding you to go off to do these missions. You felt exceedingly guilty for making him continuously drive you around to the locations and waiting for you to finish, not even knowing if you were going to come back alive or not.
However, you couldn’t be more grateful that he was in your company during this draining time. If it wasn’t for Ijichi in your presence, you knew you would have broken down earlier than you had now.
Turning on the faucet, you immediately heard a stream of water gushing from the spout before it was slowly filling up the bowl with the clear liquid. All you wanted to do was to plant your face in and scream out all the intense pressure that has been placed upon your shoulders. Yet you knew, it wasn’t that easy. It never was.
Before you would even realise what was happening, the hand that was gripping onto the sink suddenly slipped causing the remaining strength that you had in you to disappear as your body immediately fell onto the white tiled floor.
You were at your breaking point.
You felt tears begin to uncontrollably stream down your face causing you to grip the top of your head before lacing your fingers tightly onto your hair - so tightly that you could pull out a few strands from your clasp - trying to release at least some of the pressure that was running through your veins.
Suddenly, you heard a knocking sound from the distance, for a second, distracting you from the state that you were in now. However, you didn’t answer. You didn’t have the strength to. You didn’t have the effort to tell the person to go away nor open your mouth to make a sound. The knocking still continued even with your lack of response, but still, there was no response with you.
“Y/N? Are you there?”
Megumi. Megumi was at the door. Yet you still didn’t have the effort to answer your boyfriend. You were just at the point where you were just burnt out - the higher-ups have really burned you to the point of mental and physical exhaustion.
“Y/N, your door is unlocked, I’m coming in,”
‘No...please don’t’
However, there was no use. You had already heard the click on your handle being pushed down before your door swung open, followed by the tapping of footsteps being heard as Fushiguro began to walk into your room, trying to locate where you were.
“Y/N, where are you?” Fushiguro asked in a worried tone since he was informed by Iijchi that you had returned and that you had most likely stationed yourself in your dorm room after being treated by Ieiri, due to the number of missions that you had completed today. Due to him not being able to see you for even a few weeks without you heading off somewhere, Fushiguro wanted to check up on you to make sure that you were okay and had the idea you had probably fallen asleep. Yet your figure was not on your bed, it was still neatly made from this morning and there was no sign that you had even sat on it.
Shutting his mouth, Fushiguro began to carefully listen to his surroundings trying to see if he could hear you or anything out of the ordinary in his search for you, only for him to suddenly detect the sound of water being poured or spilt causing him to turn towards the bathroom, only to discover the door opened with the faucet tap running rapidly as water began to overflow onto the ground, leading him to rush into the bathroom to turn it off.
Letting out a sigh of relief once the water stopped, he immediately turned around to find you on the ground, hands in your hair as tears flowed down your face. You looked terrible to put it into lighter terms. You looked like you’ve been through the worst wreckage. You looked like you had lost the will to even move.
Quickly crouching down to your level - ignoring the water on the ground, Fushiguro managed to carefully lift your body up before placing you on his lap trying to comfort you in any way possible, as he then took a hold of your hands - causing you to relax your grip - to gently remove them from your hair making you weren’t in any pain from the tight grasp you had. Pulling you closer into his embrace, Fushiguro began to slowly run his hand up and down your arm to try to calm you down from your tearful fit before using his other to push away any straying strands of hair that were in your face, so he would wipe away any of the tears that were still present on your eyes or cheeks.
“Shhh, I got you, You’re okay, I’m right here with you,” Fushiguro tenderly muttered to you before placing your head on the crook of his neck as he then began to run his fingers through the strands of your messy hair, carefully brushing out any knots that were created. Fushiguro didn’t even have to ask what was wrong. He already had a slight idea of what was going for the past few weeks.
Due to the lack of sorcerers being available within the school and the stack of higher class missions being piled up, you were the only sorcerer qualified to even go on these missions leaving you to undertake these task alone - much to his dismay, but he had no obligation to go due to his grade as a sorcerer himself. He knew you were strong based on being a sorcerer as well as your emotional and mental state, but everyone has their limits, no matter how long or short one person can hold on to their sanity. Everyone has their limits - he was surprised that you were able to hold on for this long, to be honest, he didn’t think he himself could have lasted as long as you did.
Every day when he had a minimal chance of seeing you, Fushiguro slowly began to notice that you were gradually breaking down, you were becoming more worn out, you were becoming less motivation, you lacked in performance when you were able to train with everyone, and you were slowly detaching yourself from everyone - you were somewhat becoming like him in some way. Fushiguro tired to lighten up your mood by inviting you over to his dorm to watch a movie or to simply cuddle with him, and he knew that you were exceptionally grateful for everything that he was doing, you showed it with the most beautiful smiles and light laughs that you could give him. He just felt so useless.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he suddenly felt a pair of arms being wrapped around his neck, causing him to realise that you seemed to snap out of your own daze. “Thank you so much, Megumi….I’m so happy that I’m with you,” you whispered to him before you tightened your hold on his neck - but not to the point where it was suffocating - before you continued with the three words that always made his heart stop before it would go into a rage as if he had just ran a marathon, “I love you,”.
Even in your current state, you still managed to somehow make Fushiguro feel like he was helping you - to which he completely was, he just didn’t know - leading him to engulf you in his arms before placing a light kiss on your temple to help you relax your body and calm you down even more.
“I got you, I’m right here with you Y/N,” Fushiguro replied back to you before tightening his hold on you as if he was the one that needed comforting, “I love you too,”.
Being with Fushiguro was something you knew to never take from granted, he was like the moonlight that comforted you when you felt so alone in the night. Fushiguro wasn’t someone to express his affection so openly, but for him to try to help you in every way possible - even if he was somewhat out of his character - was something you could never take for granted from the little kisses to the little dorm invites - yeah you really were lucky. Fushiguro Megumi was really the perfect boyfriend
“With you, I know I’m going to be okay Megumi”

sunflower + salvia + oak + begonia for ushijima :-)
sunflower : what brings your muse the most joy in life ?
victory, mainly. there’s an indescribable feeling of satisfaction after winning each game— which you think he’d get used to over time— that pleases him. he’s not the type of player who tracks his progress and thinks, ‘ i got this win because i worked hard for it and i grew as an athlete, ’ so his joy isn’t necessarily satisfaction as a result of hard work. it’s more that he likes the more readily available tangible/sensory details related to victory. he kind of takes a step back from the world of the court and feels satisfied by the feeling of strain in his muscles, the shout of a crowd ( not in an egotistical way, but in acknowledgement that he hadn’t really heard them before and now it’s like a new sense being unlocked to hear them again ), the smell of sweat, etc. he lives through volleyball going between two ‘ selves ’— the wakatoshi that plays like an animal, and the wakatoshi that becomes more in-touch with his surroundings when he lets loose after a match. so coming back after a victory/shifting between the two selves ... that feels great to him.
salvia : is your muse possessive over people or things that matter a lot to them ? how do they express that possessiveness , or lack thereof ?
he’s not possessive over much. considering his upbringing, wakatoshi was very much put out on his own and forced to live independently ( or semi-independently ), with detached emotions. he applies that same upbringing to others and tends to think of other people and other objects as also being independent. when he speaks to his team, for example, he doesn’t belittle them for their performance but thinks of them as individuals responsible for their own abilities and duties. it’s not as if he thinks, ‘ shiratorizawa is my team and my family. ’ it’s just a combination of strong individuals who need to work themselves up to a higher level. in terms of his personal belongings, as well, he’s very lenient about sharing them and letting others use them. objects are just objects, and they’re independent— not necessarily ‘ his, ’ he thinks. if he has food and someone asks to share, he will. if someone needs a pair of shorts for practice, he’ll fetch some from his dorm. he takes the same kind of stance with other peoples’ belongings, like tendō’s magazines, and never sees any problem in asking to borrow them.
oak : who would your muse consider the strongest person they know ?
coach washijō is almost like a second father to wakatoshi. i think he feels very indebted to him as a mentor and a ‘ friend ’ so to speak, since washijō recognized strength in wakatoshi even when his own family was divided over it ( it being his left-handedness ). tendō, similarly, noted that he liked washijō because he picked players based on strength and ability rather than background or personality, and wakatoshi probably appreciated that since his own background and personality were always ‘ lacking. ’ on a normal team, wakatoshi might be judged for his inability to socialize like the rest of the players, and he probably wouldn’t have been given the role of captain. but washijō never cared about that and accepted wakatoshi nonetheless. i think there’s a strange and unique relationship between the two— wakatoshi, although he’s not really aware of it himself, is glad to have someone who supports him and appreciates his ability. washijō, on the other hand, may not see him for his ( admittedly bland ) personality, but watches him play with the sort of intent that someone might have for a boy they’ve watched grow up, or for a boy who they want to see outgrow them when they were his age. they’re both very curt, so they’d never address it, but i think wakatoshi finds washijō comforting and suitable for his own personality as a mentor, and washijō sees wakatoshi as the son who is able to accomplish what he couldn’t as a teenager. they’re not excessively close, but they respect each other more than anyone else.
begonia : how cautious is your muse ? are they prone to noticing red flags , or paranoid to the point of untrusting most everyone ? why or why not ?
‘ caution ’ is kind of a weird topic, because with wakatoshi i think that he’s not necessarily cautious, but he’s also aware that he’s probably not able to handle everything that comes his way. he’s self-assured in the sense that most things don’t bother him and he can slide through life relatively unscathed— when things come up, he either works harder to overcome them, approaches them with a flat/serious demeanor that tends to scare them off in some way, or doesn’t pay them enough attention to let them bother him. in that way, he’s kind of like the titanic, and just keeps chugging along without being fully aware of the ice he breaks up beneath him. things just tend to work out for wakatoshi, and because he’s self-assured and holds himself upright with his head forward, a lot of ‘ issues ’ that he should be cautious of never actually seem to touch him.

Final Fantasy X Review
Year: 2001
Original Platform: PlayStation 2
Also available on: PS3 and PS4 (HD Remaster)
Version I Played: PlayStation 2
Synopsis:
Tidus is a renown blitzball player in the city of Zanarkand. One day, his mysterious buddy Auron whisks him away to the land of Spira after a massive entity known as Sin attacks Zanarkand. Tidus ventures into Spira, a strange world lacking in advanced technology. There, he finds many uncomfortable truths after joining a pilgrimage with the summoner Yuna.
Gameplay:
I will preface this by saying that this was my very first Final Fantasy game way back when I was like 13. I wasn’t keen on handling RPGs yet so it took me ages to finish. The result was me falling in love with everything about it. Final Fantasy X is the last main Final Fantasy game to feature turn-based combat. One of the coolest features of the battle system in this game is being able to switch characters in the middle of a battle. I missed that afterwards. When I played more Final Fantasy games after this, I kept thinking instinctively that you could switch characters in the middle of battle.
Leveling up is conventional but also introduces a Sphere Grid. You gain Ability Points to progress through a grid where each sphere unlocks a special ability or a higher stat. You can pick different paths along the grids and, typically, by the end of the game you are crossing over other character's grids.
The only truly annoying aspect of playing the game was the sphere puzzles in the temples. Every so often you have to enter a temple and solve a puzzle by placing spheres in the right places. It was so mind-numbing and the irritating music really didn't help either.
Because of how the story is told, the game is much more linear than its predecessors. The bulk of the game is spent journeying on foot across Spira. But don’t worry – there are plenty of secrets and extras to unfold – PLENTY. You eventually get an airship, but instead of flying around a world map you simply pick a destination on a map and you’re there. It sounds lame but the world is already so massive and detailed that Square probably couldn’t fit the graphics of flying around a world map.
Graphics:
The cinematics blew everyone away – because for the first time we have VOICE ACTING! JUST LIKE WATCHING A MOVIE! The voice acting worked really well in this game. It was only ever awkward when Tidus was being, uh, really annoying.
Exhibit A:
youtube
The in-game cutscenes can also be a bit stiff.
Story:
Final Fantasy X was my very first Final Fantasy game – as such, I could be biased in how I feel about it. Or maybe not. I’ve grown to be enough of a dick to crush my own dreams.
The story is completely different than the rest of the series. Completely different. While the rest of the series likes to make references to Western mythology and atmosphere (medieval and industrial settings), Final Fantasy X actually has an East Asian setting. There are no knights in armor or empires fighting rebels or even technological powers like Shinra. There are no witches or wizards. The story and references are quite esoteric, more mysterious and conceptual.
The narrative is radically different from the entire series. For the first and only time (so far), the main character narrates the unfolding events to the audience. After getting sucked out of his homeworld of Zanarkand, Tidus gets caught up in a pilgrimage to defeat Sin. Sin is a massive creature that returns every so often to punish the world for its dependence on technology. (So Sin is basically a kaiju.) A summoner with his or her friends go on a quest to defeat Sin, and the Calm returns for some time until Sin returns.
Spira is probably my favorite Final Fantasy world. It’s beautiful and haunting at the same, sad and bright. You can tell that there was once a great cataclysm but the long years have overridden the past. The rules of the world are so unique. Monsters are explained as the ghosts of people who have not passed on. A summoner this time not only summons great beings (called aeons) but also “sends” the dead away so they can find the Farplane, essentially Heaven. Like I said before, the concepts of Spira are very esoteric and East Asian. While Final Fantasy X does derive influences from Christian concepts (i.e. pilgrimage, priests, doctrines), it just as much references many Japanese and Buddhist concepts (rebirth, wandering souls, sacred temples). Overall, Final Fantasy X’s story is the most religious and spiritual in the entire series.
It’s relatively rare for a JRPG to take on an entire fictional world with a visual design referencing Asian settings. Usually, Final Fantasy and other JRPGs are more obsessed with Western settings (i.e. medieval towns). Spira is ripe with influences from island nations and places like Thailand and Bali.
The major plot twist require you to wrap your head around a bit, but surprisingly nothing is truly complicated. For the most part, you follow the story through the pilgrimage, learn some backstory stuff, and then face the end.
There are several “main” villains. For argument’s sake, and for the sake of not ruining any spoilers, let’s go with Seymour. Seymour is a recurring villain who again ups the ante on the bishonen trend. He’s also the biggest pain in the ass out of any Final Fantasy game. Ask anyone who has played this game and they will get Vietnam flashbacks of fighting Seymour. The bastard keeps popping up every so often to hinder the party’s progress. Seymour may look strange, but don’t let that fool you. He is also seriously one of the most fucked up villains in the entire series.
Tidus is unique in that he is an outsider viewing the story. He tags along and has his own story arc to deal with. Tidus’s story is one of the most personal and relatable. It’s so unique to play as a character who is not a conventional fantasy hero like a thief or a mage or a knight, but a sports celebrity with daddy issues. It’s also unique in that Tidus isn’t even the central character – Yuna is. Yuna is the summoner on a pilgrimage to defeat Sin. Even so, Tidus still plays an important role by falling in love with Yuna, influencing her goals on the pilgrimage.
In retrospect, Final Fantasy IX appears to be a prototype to Final Fantasy X. Tidus is a version of Zidane, except, unfortunately, a bit more annoying when he tries to woo Yuna. Zidane and Garnet’s relationship mirrors Tidus and Yuna’s; both involve an upbeat male trying to woo a reserved, quiet female. Tidus is the temptation to Yuna’s repressed Catholic schoolgirl personality, advising her to loosen up. The existential crisis that Tidus faces is also similar to Zidane’s.
All that being said, Final Fantasy X is my personal favorite in the entire series. It has its flaws, and yes, it’s a sappy romance. But I love it. I fucking love it. I LOVE IT ALL. I love the world. I love the plot. I love the music. I love all the characters. Auron is so fucking cool. Just look at how cool this guy is.
And that ending. Oh man. I really don’t want to spoil anything but at the same time. UNGH. This game. It is poetry. Everybody is a real gangsta until they watch what happens at the end.
Final Fantasy X is probably the most unique out of all the Final Fantasy games. Different didn’t pan out well for Final Fantasy VIII. But for Final Fantasy X – different was good, really good.
Music:
Final Fantasy X does a few things radically different from its predecessors. For one, the series’ main theme isn’t featured. That may sound like blasphemy to some. In retrospect, it might have been a good move because frankly I can’t see the main theme being played anywhere in a story like this. The “Prelude” theme is only briefly featured in an opening menu, but this time it’s given a sick beat that makes you want to dance a little jig.
Alas, Nobuo Uematsu begins to detach himself from full reign of the soundtrack. Two other composers, Masashi Hamauzu and Junya Nakano, also co-wrote a bulk of the soundtrack. While Uematsu composed the main themes of the game, Hamauzu and Nakano composed many of the other tracks. While not everything they did was so different from Uematsu, there are a couple tracks, namely “Assault”, which is distinctly unlike something Uematsu would ever compose. I don’t say this in a bad way at all. The score is still golden. But after Final Fantasy X we see Uematsu depart, and Final Fantasy music starts diving fresh into the unknown.
The pop song for this score is “Suteki da ne”. It’s pretty good although I prefer “Eyes on Me” and “Melodies of Life”.
The HD Remaster soundtrack seems to skewer the original sound of the music. I’ve listened to it and was very displeased by what they did to “Assault”, which was one of my favorite pieces. The original soundtrack has more umph, more pomp and circumstance.
Meanwhile, “Otheworld” is a metal song – a first for the series. It plays in the opening when Tidus plays blitzball, and in one of the final battles. “Otherworld” is frequently misattributed to Rammstein, especially back in the days of Limewire. They had nothing to do with it. Uematsu composed “Otherworld”, and Bill Muir, a lead singer from the metal band xtillidiex, sang it.
Uematsu’s fully orchestrated work on the ending scene is masterful. The emotion behind it brings tears to my eye. It wrecks you, man. It pulls those heartstrings and doesn’t let go. It hurts so good to listen to it and remember how the story ends. It is the most emotional track for the most emotional Final Fantasy ending. It is here where you realize that Nobuo Uematsu could really be a movie soundtrack composer. His craft came full circle here.
Notable Theme:
“To Zanarkand” – the main theme of Final Fantasy X. Beautiful, gentle, and solemn.
youtube
Verdict:
Final Fantasy X is my personal favorite. Final Fantasy VI can objectively be called the best, but I have a soft spot for Final Fantasy X. I admire its unique story and its world. It can be campy and corny at times but I love it overall. Objectively, it’s still of a higher caliber in the series.
Direct Sequel?
Yes. Final Fantasy X-2, or also known as Final Fantasy X-2: For Fangirls Who Couldn’t Handle the Ending to X.
I kid. That was harsh.
But I mean. . .
They gave this Charlie’s Angels vibe with Yuna, Rikku and this new girl Payne.
And like I guess it’s cool but like the tone is soooo campy.
And then they sing and it’s like J-Pop and . . .
Yeah.
This was the sequel.
This was the first Final Fantasy sequel ever made.
And it was. Uh. It was something.
At the time, I could only play about a quarter of the way through before feeling wrong about it. Many critics would agree that it robs the dignity of the original game. I do want to actually try playing it again. I might come into it with a new mind. But. Still. I prefer they leave the original ending untouched.

What would you rank all the fire emblem games that you have played.
Thank you for waiting, anon! This essay is finally finished! XD I don’t know if either of us ever intended for this to end up so long, but it did.
It’s interesting to see how each person experiences each game, so I hope everyone enjoys reading this. If anyone wants to ask questions for more details or just for conversation, please do!
I did a tier grouping ranking as well as ordering from bottom -> top, because that helped explain my feelings a little better. This isn’t really reflecting my nostalgia or personal feelings for the characters/world quite as much as “how much fun I had in my initial playthrough(s).” Because I think that’s what these sorts of lists are generally asking for.
First, I’d like to make a general statement about why I love FE games so much: Well, most simply it’s because I have more fun playing FE than any other series. That much is obvious though, right? I also love them because they all stand out in their own way, with their own unique combination of features, and because they are all super ambitious titles. It may lead to some rushing and half-baked ideas, but ambition is what excites me the most in any series. Even if the creators are not able to fully realize the ideas they had, the hard work still wows me as I play, and I can see hints of the full vision they had in every nook and cranny. Even the lowest games on this list are pretty high up there for me in fun level. The “fun but flawed” games just had glaring issues that interrupted the fun from time to time.
...FEs 1 & 3 are overall exceptions to the “unique and standing out rule,” being early games in the series; and FE6 set up post-Famicom FE, so it’s pretty basic, too - but they still get their own awards for setting a solid foundation for a fun video game series that withstands the test of time.
I can’t fully explain it, why I attached to FE the most over all other game series out there. But when I play FE, I usually don’t think about what’s not so great about the games. I just have fun. The gameplay always has me thinking, and I get engrossed in the stories and unlocking convos and supports.
Basic Tier
These games are really hard to judge properly in the ranking system, because they are just so basic for the series.
FE1 / FE11
When FE11 came out, I remember it getting so much flack for being really, really boring. But I didn’t get that. I like FE gameplay and storytelling at its core, so I don’t need the bells and whistles to have a good time. I knew this is where the series started, and was surprised with what content there was considering this is a remake of a game on the Famicom (NES).
FE1 set a very solid foundation for what the core of the series would be. Load it up next to a modern game, and it feels so the same and different all at once. I’ve only played a little bit of FE1 itself. I just can’t get through it because FE11 is SO similar to FE1, so you really only have to play one to get the whole experience. I didn’t feel like playing the same game over again at the time, so FE1 is still on my unfinished list.
Basic, solid foundation for the ages / 10
FE3 / FE12
After FE11 played it “safe” and took an “upgraded graphics with a few new ideas tacked on” approach, I was blown away by how much FE12 did, even if it was more for worse than better sometimes. It added so many conversations, was the first to tinker with the idea of a more fleshed out Avatar, added more story… and so on.
From what I’ve read recently, the new story stuff isn’t that great, but I don’t remember now. I’ve only played this game once. Overall, despite some clunk with the giant maps and so on, this game really challenged itself to improve from FE11, and it’s how I learned to love remakes that aren’t afraid to deviate from and add a lot to the original!
Set the stage for what kind of fun and ambition an FE remake could have / 10
FE3 is way more of a classic than any of us in the West can truly understand. It sold insanely well (the best in the series until Awakening I believe?), challenged the programmers to put FE1 on the cart as well, long before re-releases were a thing in the industry, and the game even made it to the Super Famicom Mini! I haven’t played it yet because again, it’s hard to get the motivation to play through the slow speed and clunkiness when I’ve already experienced the remake, but I’m looking forward to it some day.
The good ol’ days of the Super Famicom & SNES / 10
FE6
This was the first game without Kaga (the series original creator), so it set the stage for a future without him. The series might have strayed far from his plans for story and such, but this game, while it was pretty basic, firmly established a new foundation for the series on a new system, and gave a glimpse of what greatness the future had in store.
Overall though, this game is harder to commit to memory than others, except for classic characteristics like how terrible Roy is until, finally, BAM he gets his sword in the final stretches of the game; and running in circles from Douglas so you can avoid fighting him and successfully recruit him after the chapter.
Awkward, but sets a solid foundation for post-Kaga and post-Famicom FE / 10
Fun But Flaws Distracted From The Fun A Lot Tier
FE16
I really, really hate to say it, because this game tries to mix up the FE formula with the school setting and other new features and changes, and brought in a good mix of old and new, just like all the other FE games. But this game left very little impact on me for such a big experience. And I’m leaving out the fact that trying to play all four routes is dull as heck when I place the game this low. I’m basing it off of just how much I enjoyed the first playthrough.
Overall, I was most turned off by the class system. Which is funny, because I’ve seen others praise this as FE’s best class system. Everyone’s different. Classic classes like troubadours are just gone. The top tier classes are super limiting. Of course, you can just stop one tier down, but that’s not emotionally satisfying to me - I want my characters to reach the top! Despite having such free choice, I feel more limited than anything. If they’d just stopped at 4 tiers and not tried to go to 5, I think that would have been best. They had to stretch out the available classes too much to get to 5. ...Although being able to have an army of dragon riders is awesome, I’ll give it that. Dragons are too cool.
I was also really disappointed by the story. Fire Emblem has established that it can write a really emotional plot, and not be afraid to pull punches, with games like 4 and 8. I was expecting a huge contrast between part 1, where everyone is friends and classmates, and part 2, where war rips them apart, transforms them into different people, and forces them to brutally slaughter each other.
But in reality…the hate between Dimitri and Edelgard has nothing to do with the school at all… That was jarring to me. Of course there is no one right direction to take a story in. But the worldbuilding and story writing… feels even less coherent than Fates. That’s an accomplishment.
This is the one time I say ambition was really just too much. The game didn’t get enough polish. A game about the seasons doesn’t even have seasonal differences...
While my friends who don’t usually play Fire Emblem have had a fantastic experience with this one, after all I’ve been through, I found that I liked other FE’s more.
I think the best part about this game is the characters and supports. After Fates had a ton of supports in it just because it had to have them, the creators of this game weren’t afraid to change up the support formula once more, so they could balance quality and quantity. ...And then, ironically, this game went for the (almost entirely) mute, personality-less avatar character. Funny how that works out. XD
Dragon Lord Army Go! / 10
FE14
I feel this game deserves way more credit than it gets, while also agreeing with the critiques. The ambition was as great as ever. But then it got stuck in development hell and we got what we got. (For those who don’t know, the team was divided in two - the team that wanted a more fanservic-y experience, and the one that wanted to make a standard FE.)
I think the gameplay is the best part of this game, Conquest is great, and the gimmicks are indeed gimmicks, but still fun. In offering three different experiences, the entire package will please few, but that was the point of the multiple routes, to give everyone one route they would like, not to please everyone with all three.
But beyond the gameplay, the story is all over the place, the multiple routes just create more questions than answers; and features like an increased number of support convos and children feel like they are there only because of a desire to bring back “popular” features. After multiple food/cooking supports in a row, I couldn’t take it any more. There was so little that the characters were actually talking about in their supports vs. Awakening. I generally feel that more supports = better, because character interaction through supports is of course a highlight of post-Famicom FE, but in this case, the numbers did not do any favors.
Bringing back weapons that don’t break didn’t feel well done, either. I just ended up using basic weapons the whole time because I didn’t want to deal with the drawbacks of the higher level weapons.
Back to a positive for me: The hub world was neat, though it needed some convoluted story writing to be included. I was amused by going through the different features and collecting the items. I agree with Nintendo of America taking out the “petting minigame,” but since I lived in Japan when Fates released, it was amusing to do on the train and weird out the bored Japanese people who peered over my shoulder.
Since all three routes were different, this game was fun enough until the end in comparison to Three Houses, of which I am STILL trying to slog through the last route one year after release. But Fates was made for every route to be different, whereas Three Houses was not, so it’s not surprising I feel like that.
But time for the real talk about this game… why is everyone’s HP so low??? What happened?????
Up and down and all around in quality from start to finish / 10
FE15
I really want to like this game more. Oh, do I. It’s absolutely GORGEOUS, the character art makes my heart skip a beat, the game proved that full voice acting does fit FE really well, it fleshed out things like the dungeon crawling & story, and added support conversations & skills, etc. while still staying kind of basic, retaining the feeling that the original was on the NES. The momentum for the fun and ambition that an FE remake could have transitioned well from FE12 to here and led to this being a stunningly presented game.
But the creators totally missed the point on what were the defining features of the game in my opinion, and that mismatch of vision ruined a lot for me. I loved the imbalance, struggling as I placed my units in corners of maps just to survive, until I obtained all those OP items, and my super soldiers marched into battle and did wild and amazing things. Valbar with +5 move and 40 speed with the Speed Ring is the one thing I remember the best of FE2 and oh man was it fun, and did I love it.
And I mean, I understand why the creators weren’t going to keep that imbalance, it doesn’t make the game good for everyone. It’s just something I found fun, and made the game stand out among the other FEs. But the developers really just replaced old imbalance with new imbalance, the dread fighters being the one thing I remember in particular.
And they defined FE2’s best defining features as “the maps and the terrain effects” and I just did not agree. That was the stuff I DISLIKED about FE2! And that’s what they wanted to keep most? The terrain that made battles one giant miss, and the gigantic maps where I’d spend half the time just getting to the enemies? No thanks.
Then the story only cranked up the horrible treatment of the women, with Faye… being Faye, and I hated the direction they went in with Celica’s story... Ugh.
For every step or two forward, there’s one back / 10
FE10
FE games are always ambitious, but this one cranked the dial up to 10 and tripped over itself a lot. Still, it provided (even if it is info dumped) an intense and satisfying ending to the Tellius saga, and is another classic for the ages. I found the pacing boring and slow until then, though.
I think now that I’m older I can appreciate the story much, much more - and how it shows the story and aftermath of the Mad King’s War from multiple points of view - but the lack of the support conversations, and too much going on for any aspect of this game to be properly refined, still make this one lower on my list.
If only I could have played it more than once, to really get a good memory of the events of the game. My Wii actually scratched up my disk (How this happened, I don’t know, and it’s the ONLY disk my Wii ever slaughtered). It only held out long enough for my sibling and I to enjoy one playthrough each. I’ll get to playing my Japanese copy eventually!
Part 4 = Laguz Royals Emblem / 10
Somewhere Inbetween Tier
FE5
The last of the Kaga games. Still clunky and difficult, but with it’s own super unique features in capturing, stamina, and stealing weapons.
The brokenness of staves is not at all a flaw, but a feature in my opinion. Encouraging bizarre thinking and finding new ways to plow through maps is fun. I would probably be critical if this was a modern game, but I think older games need these quirks to stand out among modern titles with better graphics and decades of gaming history behind them.
And you still can complete the maps in a more traditional manner if you are determined. I did even for Reinhardt’s map.
Also, I gotta say... I don’t agree that this is the most difficult FE overall… it just has the hardest individual maps. The difficulty spikes are all over the place. The game goes from bashing your head against a wall to snoozefest constantly.
Fog of war was a mistake though, if I was a time traveler, I’d go back and make sure the programmers never figured out how to include it. XD
Steal ALL the tomes! / 10
FE13
Experiencing this game and its release in real time was an experience. The fandom really, truly thought this game might not only be the last FE ever, but also that it might not get a localization. Thinking there would never be a localization, I spent a night of my first trip to Japan buying a Japanese 3DS and a copy of the game. I only had 2 weeks on that study tour, but I was so determined that I used some of my precious free time to go shopping for it. To afford it, I even used the money my college gave to me for food, then subsided off of cheap convenience store meals with what little I had left. I barely had any true understanding of Japanese at the time, but I wanted other fans to experience this game, so I worked as hard as I could to translate as many supports as I could. This game is why I got into translation, and was what I really thought might be the end, so it will always have a special place in my heart for that.
Now to actually talk about playing the game itself. I really enjoyed it the first couple of times. Who cares that pair-up and the kids were OP, you either blast through the game with them and have a good laugh, or ignore them, set some challenging rules, and enjoy having at least a little challenge. I didn’t care much that the supports were a little lower quality because of the sheer number of them, I eagerly awaited unlocking each one, and reading what the two characters would talk about. (We fans have fanfiction to turn to if we hunger for more development. :p) The bonus content was plentiful, and a great fanservice-y way to bring the series to a close.
After all is said and done though, the game left me feeling empty when I thought about replaying it any further. The maps and story felt empty in comparison to previous games. Now that it’s been 8 years since the initial release, I’d of course enjoy a replay or two, but after having played FEs7-9 5 or 6 times in a row before moving on to the next game… anything less than that level of excitement was surprising for me. I placed this game kinda high on the list because it’s fun when you play it. It’s just doesn’t have as much replay value, I feel.
Also, as a group, the children characters are my favorite in the series. They all come from deeply traumatic backgrounds, and the way they work through that trauma and navigate being given a second chance, but also not a true second chance because this timeline is different from their own, is endlessly fascinating for me. I don’t know if other fans give them enough credit, so I wanted to point them out in particular.
Would have been a fantastic way to send off the series, despite the flaws / 10
FE2
This game is flawed, imbalanced, makes me want to throw things, and it’s all, somehow, in a way that makes me LOVE IT. ...So long as I’m playing using an emulator with a speed up button.
This game is so hard, and the hit percentages are such garbage. But as I played, and unlocked more and more OP weapons and items, until I reached a point where the zombie dragons - what once took all my efforts - were an enemy that can easily be slaughtered in 1-on-1 combat... I felt so satisfied.
Old games need some kind of charm to make them still worth revisiting in a world of much better graphics and features that have now had decades to be refined. For me, this game has that perfect kind of quirky charm in spades.
The maps and terrain though… I have no words, just bash your head into the wall and you will understand how I feel.
Also, this game reminds me of Zelda 2 in it being a black sheep of its respective series… that’s a fun little nugget of info.
Duma’s sprite / 10
FE7
I don’t remember this game as well, despite it being one that I’ve played about 5 times? I don’t know why, it’s yet another fantastic Fire Emblem with its own ways that it stands out, managing not one, not two, but three lords, introducing the tactician, and so on. Guess time has just not been kind to my memory on this one.
I remember being really impressed with the length of this game back in the day, and Hector’s mode offering enough differences to make it totally fun to replay the main game again.
Lyn gets kind of pushed to the side (because that’s what generally happens to women main characters in Fire Emblem, if there’s a male lord around), but having the three lords was really fun. With three people, you get a great balance between all of their personalities, and they all play off of each other well.
Of course I loved Lyn and Hector, most everyone does, but I was always just as much of an Eliwood fan. His average stats pushed people away from liking him as much as the others, but I always looked up to his kindness. Eliwood / Ninian was an especially favorite pairing for my sappy teenage heart. Eliwood was just so romantic and sweet to me.
And though the game was made easier with international audiences in mind, the developers hadn’t invented all of the “easier/for convenience” features yet, so this is the last time we got to enjoy some “harder” features like needing to buy weapons during battles, and a convoy separate from the main lord. That’s cool if you like that stuff.
Unlocking the paralogues is hard though / 10
Favorites Tier
FE8
When it comes to FE8, while there’s plenty to like about the gameplay (despite the game being so easy, but again, like I said with Awakening, you can just set your own challenge rules), what I really love to ramble on about is the story and its emotional impact. Lyon is so precious and kind, but has so many inner conflicts stewing deep inside of him, leading him to elder magics, and… The Demon King is just ends up as a sideshow compared to Lyon coming face to face with his own demons. Both the characters - and many players, I’m sure - hope and hope to find a way to save him, but there just isn’t one. There are never any real leads. There’s nothing. Only the harrowing reality that some people cannot be saved, no, that some people do not want to be saved. The inevitability of Lyon’s demise, and seeing it all play out, packs a punch most plots can only dream of.
But it’s not like I won’t talk about the gameplay features either. Bringing back much of the best of FE2, the overworld map and everything to do really enhances the experience. I mean, yeah, I guess two side dungeons isn’t that much to get excited over, I can see that critique… but I didn’t care, it allowed me to easily chase support conversations, and (with some RNG abusing to obtain enough Boots and money to buy the stat-boosting items, but hey, whatever it takes) I could max out my characters’ stats and truly “complete” a Fire Emblem game.
Sacred Stones is so awesome.
Finally! A postgame! I sure hope the developers keep this up in all the future games… oh. / 10
FE9
This is the first FE game I ever played, so it will always occupy the most dear and special place in my heart, even if FE4 eventually won over as my favorite.
Do you believe in first sight? I do, and this is what taught me it’s real. From the first second of the first cutscene, I was enthralled. ...And that’s saying something, when the FE9 cutscenes are the kind of thing only a mother could love. But I just knew. I may have been a wee lass of 14, but I knew a love that would last a lifetime was being born. ...Or that would at least last 14 more years. I can’t predict the future. Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and hate Fire Emblem with a burning passion? 2020 has taught me that tomorrow is always a big fat question mark.
Fun fact: in case you are wondering exactly what inspired my very initial interest in this series, it was a TV commercial. Probably this one. I just remember Ike running, of all things. My sibling and I both thought FE9 looked interesting from this commercial, and sought out the game all on our own with zero private knowledge that anything FE even existed.
This is where obsessions are born. Or mine at least. / 10
FE4
As I’ve established, this is my favorite of favorites. The bizarre way money, arenas, items, and more were handled, actually made the game more and more fun for me. Big maps are just so fun. Gen 1’s story is a tale for the ages, and Gen 2’s story is… well, classic FE, which never gets old for me. It will never cease to amaze me even today what the SNES/S Famicom could handle.
All I’d want added is a “warp between conquered castles” feature. I’m completely neutral on a remake otherwise. Of course a lot more could be added and detailed upon that I’d be happy for, but that’s my one specific wish.
Calvary Emblem Forever / 10
Bonus:
FEH
I played this game every day for around 2 ½ years before I finally felt I had to break the habit, so I’m not leaving it out! This title got a lot of flack for simplifying FE gameplay, but… looking at it that way completely disregards the niche app games fill, and the interesting ways developers view what type of games app games should be, and how the developers work hard to both innovate for the format yet stay faithful to the source. It is surprisingly deep, and the maps + higher focus on unit skills make you think entirely differently about how to win in what is, in essence, the same gameplay as the main series.
Plus, what fan couldn’t get suckered into the fanservice of it? My best moments include attaining a +10 Nephenee while only spending money to get 2 of her, the other 9 were all F2P orbs; and becoming a Narcian/Valter shipper after supporting them on impulse because they were both on my flier team, and realizing the sick, twisted chemistry afterwards. Discovering rare-pairs is fun.
Also, finally, this game dared to nerf magic users a bit by making them RNG 2 only. If only the main series could do something like that.
I really enjoyed Heroes a lot, I just quit solely because it was a time drain. It was time to move on and play other things. And I’m glad I got out when I did. Seeing the game stoop to over-the-top powercreep (above and beyond what it was always implementing) and add the monthly service to keep the $$$$$ raking in was hard to watch.
Perfect app-style game gameplay-wise and fanservice-wise, but why aren’t gacha illegal yet / 10
FE Warriors
Oh yeah, this game exists too! It’s a Warriors game. If you like the formula and it never gets old for you, you’ll have fun with this game. If you don’t mind the limited game representation too much, you’ll have fun with this game. For me, the answers to those questions were a yes, so I enjoyed FE Warriors. Yay for wailing on hordes of enemies / 10

So! I put on my research cap and looked up all the dex entries for Gigantamax pokemon (at least the ones available in the game so far). We know from all dex entries from other pokemon, they don’t shy away from telling us if they’re in pain one way or another.
This goes for base forms and Mega Evolutions.
Now I present to you, all the entries
Under a read more because this is fricken long
Duraludon - It's grown to resemble a skyscraper. Parts of its towering body glow due to a profusion of energy. (Sword) The hardness of its cells is exceptional, even among Steel types. It also has a body structure that's resistant to earthquakes. (Shield)
Copperajah - So much power is packed within its trunk that if it were to unleash that power, the resulting blast could level mountains and change the landscape. (Sword) After this Pokémon has Gigantamaxed, its massive nose can utterly demolish large structures with a single smashing blow. (Shield)
Alcremie - Cream pours endlessly from this Pokémon's body. The cream stiffens when compressed by an impact. A harder impact results in harder cream. (Sword) It launches swarms of missiles, each made of cream and loaded with 100,000 kilocalories. Get hit by one of these, and your head will swim. (Shield)
Grimmsnarl - By transforming its leg hair, this Pokémon delivers power-packed drill kicks that can bore huge holes in Galar's terrain. (Sword) Gigantamax energy has caused more hair to sprout all over its body. With the added strength, it can jump over the world's tallest building. (Shield)
Hatterene - This Pokémon can read the emotions of creatures over 30 miles away. The minute it senses hostility, it goes on the attack. (Sword) Beams like lightning shoot down from its tentacles. It's known to some as the Raging Goddess. (Shield)
Centiskorch - Gigantamax energy has evoked a rise in its body temperature, now reaching over 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. Its heat waves incinerate its enemies. (Sword) The heat that comes off a Gigantamax Centiskorch may destabilize air currents. Sometimes it can even cause storms. (Shield)
Sandaconda - Its sand pouch has grown to tremendous proportions. More than 1,000,000 tons of sand now swirl around its body. (Sword) Sand swirls around its body with such speed and power that it could pulverize a skyscraper. (Shield)
Appletun - It blasts its opponents with massive amounts of sweet, sticky nectar, drowning them under the deluge. (Sword) Due to Gigantamax energy, this Pokémon's nectar has thickened. The increased viscosity lets the nectar absorb more damage than before. (Shield)
Flapple - Under the influence of Gigantamax energy, it produces much more sweet nectar, and its shape has changed to resemble a giant apple. (Sword) If it stretches its neck, the strong aroma of its nectar pours out. The scent is so sickeningly sweet that one whiff makes other Pokémon faint. (Shield)
Coalossal - Its body is a colossal stove. With Gigantamax energy stoking the fire, this Pokémon's flame burns hotter than 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit. (Sword) When Galar was hit by a harsh cold wave, this Pokémon served as a giant heating stove and saved many lives. (Shield)
Drednaw - It responded to Gigantamax energy by becoming bipedal. First it comes crashing down on foes, and then it finishes them off with its massive jaws. (Sword) In the Galar region, there's a tale about this Pokémon chewing up a mountain and using the rubble to stop a flood. (Shield)
Orbeetle - Its brain has grown to a gargantuan size, as has the rest of its body. This Pokémon's intellect and psychic abilities are overpowering. (Sword) If it were to utilize every last bit of its power, it could control the minds of every living being in its vicinity. (Shield)
Corviknight - Imbued with Gigantamax energy, its wings can whip up winds more forceful than any a hurricane could muster. The gusts blow everything away. (Sword) The eight feathers on its back are called blade birds, and they can launch off its body to attack foes independently. (Shield)
Garbodor - Due to Gigantamax energy, this Pokémon's toxic gas has become much thicker, congealing into masses shaped like discarded toys. (Sword) It sprays toxic gas from its mouth and fingers. If the gas engulfs you, the toxins will seep in all the way down to your bones. (Shield)
Snorlax - Gigantamax energy has affected stray seeds and even pebbles that got stuck to Snorlax, making them grow to a huge size. (Sword) Terrifyingly strong, this Pokémon is the size of a mountain—and moves about as much as one as well. (Shield)
Eevee - Gigantamax energy upped the fluffiness of the fur around Eevee's neck. The fur will envelop a foe, capturing its body and captivating its mind. (Sword) Having gotten even friendlier and more innocent, Eevee tries to play with anyone around, only to end up crushing them with its immense body. (Shield)
Lapras - Over 5,000 people can ride on its shell at once. And it's a very comfortable ride, without the slightest shaking or swaying. (Sword) It surrounds itself with a huge ring of gathered ice particles. It uses the ring to smash any icebergs that might impede its graceful swimming. (Shield)
Kingler - The flow of Gigantamax energy has spurred this Pokémon's left pincer to grow to an enormous size. That claw can pulverize anything. (Sword) The bubbles it spews out are strongly alkaline. Any opponents hit by them will have their bodies quickly melted away. (Shield)
Gengar - Rumor has it that its gigantic mouth leads not into its body, filled with cursed energy, but instead directly to the afterlife. (Sword) It lays traps, hoping to steal the lives of those it catches. If you stand in front of its mouth, you'll hear your loved ones' voices calling out to you. (Shield)
Machamp - The Gigantamax energy coursing through its arms makes its punches hit as hard as bomb blasts. (Sword) One of these Pokémon once used its immeasurable strength to lift a large ship that was in trouble. It then carried the ship to port. (Shield)
Meowth - The pattern that has appeared on its giant coin is thought to be the key to unlocking the secrets of the Dynamax phenomenon. (Sword) Its body has grown incredibly long and the coin on its forehead has grown incredibly large—all thanks to Gigantamax power. (Shield)
Pikachu - Its Gigantamax power expanded, forming its supersized body and towering tail. (Sword) When it smashes its opponents with its bolt- shaped tail, it delivers a surge of electricity equivalent to a lightning strike. (Shield)
Butterfree - Crystallized Gigantamax energy makes up this Pokémon's blindingly bright and highly toxic scales. (Sword) Once it has opponents trapped in a tornado that could blow away a 10-ton truck, it finishes them off with its poisonous scales. (Shield)
Charizard - This colossal, flame-winged figure of a Charizard was brought about by Gigantamax energy. (Sword) The flame inside its body burns hotter than 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit. When Charizard roars, that temperature climbs even higher. (Shield)
Now I know that these could change if we ever get SwSh2 but at the current point in time, this is our info
None of the dex entries say anything about these creatures being in any pain. They gain special abilities and have even helped humans who have been in trouble while they were in those forms.
I’d say that Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing aren’t as harmful as some might think.

Sidelines (Part 2)
(I’ve actually posted this... idk, it disappeared so I’m gonna post it again. Happy reading!!!)
Alex Danvers x fem!reader
You were watching a documentary about war remnants left by World War II in different “third world countries.” Just like a one-shot angst fic about your OTP you’ve read a thousand times, this documentary sucks you in—deep, and makes you want to continue relieving your college idealist self you’ve left behind some time ago. Back in NCU, you wanted to change the world and save the oppressed… but when you graduated, you were caught off-guard by the cruel face of reality. Suddenly, those plans of changing the world faded. You were stuck as some newspaper writer—broke, by the way—with a record of libel case under your name.
As you watched, with glimmering eyes, the old, ragged, black and white pictures being flashed in your TV, the door burst open. You jumped in surprise, higher than you’ll ever admit, and some popcorn spilled on the floor from the overflowing bowl. You turned around to check who just barged in and saw Alex Danvers with a pissed off look in her face.
You immediately placed the bowl of popcorn on the table and stood up, frown already marring your face. You swallowed the popcorn you just placed on your mouth, and then asked lightly, “What’s up?”
You felt relieved that your heart was calming down already.
“Why the fuck is your door not locked?” your best friend asked, and you can already see the angry lines getting more obvious on her face. The waves of anger raging from your best friend’s… presence were directed to you. You felt so lost because all you can think about was how she just went here to… scold you? Wasn’t she on a date?
“Um… because I’m inside?” you said slowly… confusion rising by the level as you stared at Alex’s pissed off form. The agent moved to close the door and proceeded on taking off her coat.
“I’ve told you a hundred times that you should lock the door. What if I’m some murderer? I could be murdering you right now—“
“Well, you’re not a murderer and you’re not murdering me right now. You’re my best friend and you can come in my apartment anytime. My locked door would have made me stand up—which I just did, thanks to you barging in here like some overly crazed person—and pause this incredibly heart-wrenching and mind-blowing documentary, just so I could open the door for you, your highness,” you rambled sarcastically, as you automatically went for your refrigerator and pulled out some beer.
Alex was already getting comfortable in your couch—where you were sitting a while ago—which was filled with thick blankets that made you feel like you’re in heaven.
“So… you came here just to bitch about my unlocked door…? Or, am I going to pry how your night went with a certain detective?” you asked, as you placed the opened beer bottles on the center table. You faced your best friend, having the chance to take her in. You can just imagine how your eyes turned into heart ones. Alex was breathtaking. You can’t help but envy Maggie Sawyer right now. The detective was living what you only had for a dream… at least you hope that she does know that.
“There was an emergency called by NCPD, so she had to leave early.” You watched as she drank the beer, clenching your jaw at the audacity of Maggie Sawyer to leave Lexie, on a date, alone… you would never do that even if it was your brought-back-to-life-by-Hades-because-the-god-despises-him-too editor calling. Well, you do know it is irrational to hold it over Maggie’s head (as the call was probably for the public’s safety) but, still. She left Alex alone.
“Explains why you had time to go here,” you said lightly. There was no bitterness in your tone, though your words came out flatly than you intended it to. You’ve felt neglected by your best friend these past few weeks she had been dating Maggie. Before, you’ve always had nights with Alex (because it’s the only time of the day the both of you possibly aren’t at work) at least four times a week. Now, it was reduced to sporadic once-a-week’s. You just kept your mouth shut, because you don’t know where you stand. There’s the feeling of needing to insert yourself because you’re the best friend, but there’s also the feeling of pulling back because you’re not the journalist sister, you’re just the journalist best friend.
It also doesn’t help that you’re the in-love best friend.
God, you hate yourself so much.
“Y/n…? Y/n, you still with me?” You refocused your unfocused eyes, and found Alex’s concerned ones staring right at you. You felt your eyes turn glassy, so you blinked the (possibly) tears away, and cleared your throat. You grabbed your bottle of beer and took large gulps. One thing that probably heavily grounds your friendship with Alex Danvers is alcohol. During game nights, you and Alex both dominate the available alcoholic drinks and still end up coherent enough to go home, or form syntactically—emphasis on just “syntactically”—correct sentences.
You slammed the beer harder than intended on your glass center table.
“Yeah, I am.” God, you need more.
You stood up, aware of Lexie’s eyes following your movements. You reached for the emergency bottle of (pure, as you specifically bought) tequila you had stored on your cupboard. ‘You’re loose lips, Y/n,’ you thought as you grabbed shot glasses. The glasses were just for show, since you had this great need to be loose lips and drink the entire bottle down to the last drop (which would more likely end up with you being pumped), and just tell Alex Danvers everything because Maggie Sawyer doesn’t deserve her because she left gorgeous Alex Danvers alone in their date night for some “NCPD emergency.”
“Sorry, I have like, a lot of things in my mind.” Case in point: the woman you’re talking to. “You know, article stuff,” you added, admittedly rather defensive. You filled the two shot glasses with tequila, not even bothering to ask Lexie if she wants one because you know she does because that’s how well you know her.
You pressed play on the documentary you were watching. The heavy silence masked the narrator’s voice, and you were extremely aware of Lexie’s restlessness, which you know means that she badly wants to say something. You have ignored your half consumed beer (and the now cold and indigestible popcorn), and turned on pouring yourself shot after shot of tequila. You should have followed yourself a while ago—go to bar after work.
“Are… are you okay, Y/n?” Alex finally asked. You tensed for a moment. Alex knows how much you resented that question… maybe that’s why she was so hesitant of asking you. You’ve always rambled on how it was futile to ask the question, especially if the one who asked only expects a yes or no answer. It’s much more than a simple yes or no to define if one’s okay or not.
You pressed pause once more and turned to her and smiled, finally feeling the effects of the (pure!) tequila you were drinking. Your lips were feeling numb (so you’re really half sure you’re smiling), and your tensed mind (as you so likely often describe it) was loosening up. You stared at Alex with half-lidded eyes. You have no idea why you suddenly felt drunk-hazy, as if you’ve drunk more than your limits. You looked at the tequila bottle and saw how it’s nearing empty. You frowned. Did it spill?
“I’ve only had a couple of shots… then you grabbed the bottle and basically fired shots… no difference if you’ve just drank from the bottle.” Lexie said, slightly amused. “You wanna tell me what’s going on?” You detected the shift in her tone, which was bordering concern.
Loose lips. Overly emotional. Not a good combination, especially when the pain caused by Maggie’s appearance in your life—more like in Lexie’s—is really doing a number on you. You stared at Lexie’s concerned eyes. You took a deep breath, wondering what to do or say next. With just pure instincts, your right hand moved to grab the bottle—you need to loosen up more.
“Hey, no. You’ve had enough.” Alex pried the bottle from your hands. She placed it on the floor, just slightly behind her then turned back to you. You nearly jumped off your skin when her soft hand grabbed yours, giving it a gentle squeeze.
“You’re watching documentaries, Y/n. You only watch them whenever something’s stressing you out. You drank that bottle of pure tequila as if it’s just water. You wanna tell me what’s going on?” You can’t help but let yourself give in on the appearing symptoms of crying. You’re already feeling hot, and Lexie’s smile just keeps flashing before your eyes… Lexie’s incredibly beautiful and perfect smile directed at Maggie Sawyer. You pursed your lips. Suddenly, there’s a growing anger forming inside you. You keep thinking why you hadn’t been good enough for Alex—for her to notice you. Why did it have to be Maggie? Why her? What freaking generous thing did she do for her to have the one person you’ve been praying for almost your whole life?
You suddenly felt a soft hand on your cheek. It was so comfortable, making your heart turn over and over again. When the thumb ran just below your eyes, you suddenly realized you were crying. You’re crying and Alex freaking Danvers, your best friend, was holding your hand and wiping your tears. Her eyes were full of concern and her face was so incredibly close. All you can think of is how beautiful she is and how she deserves the whole world. The forming anger was suddenly replaced by an onslaught of your love for this woman holding you.
You don’t know if it’s because of being soul-turning drunk that you suddenly can’t handle Lexie being an inch close to you. You’ve been at situations like this most of your life, but something changed right now. You can’t control yourself anymore when before, being with your best friend (since you realized you’re hopelessly in love with her) was all about control.
It was so comfortable, being this close. You taught of staying like this forever. As you stared at Lexie’s beautiful, concerned (for you) eyes, you can’t help but cry more over your missed chance of being with her. Your eyes shifted down and you can’t help but wonder how those lips were naturally pink and soft, while yours were pale and more often than not, slightly chapped. Then, with your screw-it mind taking over, you shook off Lexie’s hold on your hand. You placed both of your hands softly on her nape, and pulled her closer.
You can’t help but think that this is, indeed, the softest pair of lips you’ve ever had the chance of kissing. And you so badly want to kiss these pair of lips forever.

SVU Precinct
"Inuyasha!" The old captain shouted, half of his body peeking out from the doorway of his office. "I need you in here. Now."
The detective glanced up from the file he was reading to see his chief's hand in the air, beckoning him in, the hard expression on his face warning him that he may be about to get the ass chewing of a lifetime. His partner cocked an eyebrow, sitting at the desk directly across from him, as if to ask what he'd done this time, but Inuyasha ignored it, letting out a rugged sigh as he closed the light blue folder, shoved it in his desk drawer, and headed toward the dimly-lit office.
The door was shut behind him. Captain Totosai remained silent until he got to his side of the large, wooden desk, documents yet to be signed sprawled over every inch of the top. Inuyasha stood behind one the available seats, waiting. He hadn't been out on a case in a couple of weeks. Things had been a little slow; a blessing and a curse. Less crime for his department meant more desk duty for the detectives in the Special Victims Unit. How could he have fucked something up if he was practically sitting there at his desk like a secretary?
"Something was just delivered for you." He said flatly, handing him a large, unopened manilla envelope.
Inuyasha eyed it suspiciously, cautiously taking it from the captain's hands. It was light, the contents inside resembling a thick stack of paper. He analyzed his own name written across the front in thick, broken, red letters, looking something similar to lipstick.
"Who -uh... What is this? I don't understand." The half demon said, eyebrows furrowed in a deep crease as his eyes met the captain's once more. Totosai brought an opened Fedex envelope into view, the unofficial and unprofessional label addressing it to the SVU department with no return address, typed in comic sans font and taped to the front like they didn't even try to make it passable. It was a fucking joke, and he could suddenly understand the palpable tension in the captain's eyes. They'd seen things like this, usually delivered to victims and not police stations, but all the same, it never meant anything good.
"Open it, Inuyasha." He commanded, his voice level but stern. The detective did as he was told, pinching the small, metal tabs together and opening the top. He reached in, gripping the stack and pulling it out, his stomach dropping violently to the floor as his eyes fell on the black and white portrait of a girl smiling in the window of a coffee shop. He dropped the envelope on the desk, quickly flipping the top photo to the back of the stack and studying the next. It was the same girl, washing her dishes, the photo zoomed in and taken at a higher angle through her window. He flipped to the next. The girl looked sad, distracted, staring at her cellphone at a crosswalk. Inuyasha's fingers began to shake, fumbling over the corner as he tried to flip to the next. She was sitting with some friends at a restaurant, drink in hand, a small smile highlighting her features. His heart was pounding in his ears as he flipped, dropping that one on the face of the desk, too distracted to care. She was laughing with her little brother. The next she was saying goodbye to someone. The next she was petting her neighbor's cat that had traveled over to the edge of the balcony of her place. The next she was grocery shopping. At a yoga class. Leaving a store with a smoothie. Watching TV on her living room couch, shot through another opened window, dressed down in a large, black shirt and her underwear. Kneeling to speak to a couple of little girls on the playground, the image blurred slightly by the chainlink fence. The final photo caused a sickening feeling to creep up his esophagus, the taste of bile lingering in the back of his throat. She was asleep in her bed, the comforter only covering half of her body as she slept on her side, one of her legs resting on top. She wasn't wearing pants, a t-shirt he'd been missing for a long time riding up her body to reveal most of her waist. There was writing at the bottom of the matte-printed picture, scrawled in the same, red, lipstick as the envelope saying, SHE'S NEXT!
"What the fuck!?" Inuyasha barked, dropping the pile onto Totosai's desk as if holding it any longer would burn the calloused pads of his fingers. They were in her apartment, watching her sleep and god knows what the fuck else. What if something had happened to her?
"Who is this, Inuyasha?" The captain asked, interrupting his thoughts, spreading each picture out in front of him to properly analyze.
"She's -Jesus Christ- She's an old friend! Who the fuck sent these!?" Inuyasha snatched up the Fedex envelope, inhaling the lingering scents of its many recent handlers, nothing coming off as familiar in the least, aside from the officer who delivered it. He studied the thing closely, hoping some sort of clue would jump out into plain view. "Who delivered this?" He asked again.
"I'm having the security cameras examined already. It was left at the front and officer Ginta brought it to me just a few minutes ago. What's the girl's name?"
Inuyasha hesitated, every nerve ending in his body engulfed in flames. His ember eyes looked down at the photos, staring intently at the one of her with her friends, dark hair spilling over her shoulders and out of view from the camera shot. Fear crept over and absorbed his mind for the first time in so long. He wasn't the type that scared easily. In his line of work, and as long as he'd been in it, he'd seen some shit. It took a lot to jostle him, yet here he was, bouncing from foot-to-foot, itching to run out of here and catch up with whomever dropped off the package, stuck staring down at a face he never thought he'd see again. "Kagome Higurashi."
Kagome's Residence
She sat at her small, circular table, the photos laid out in front of her, terrorizing her every thought. She couldn't look away, but continuing to stare at them had her entire body riddled with anxiety. She knew almost every date stamp of the pictures. She'd last seen her family about a month and a half ago; the picture where she was laughing with her brother was when he was telling her about some of his ongoing high school experiences. She'd gone out with her friends this last weekend. She'd just gotten those new yoga pants she was pictured in, and she wore them to Wednesday's class. And the image where she was staring at her phone, about ready to cry on the sidewalk across the street from the preschool she worked for... that was when she was dealing with a broken heart. Three months ago.
The knock on her door caused her to jump in her seat, the wooden legs rocking back and forth under the shift in her weight, snapping her out of her reverie, a chill running down her spine as her chest restricted.
"Kagome, open the door." A deep, muffled voice spoke. Slowly, she stood from her chair, stopping a few feet from the entrance, crossing her arms in a meager attempt to shield herself.
"Who is it?"
"It's me."
Kagome grimaced, trying to decipher the voice. Normally, people gave a name to work with. Who had she had over enough to think she'd recognize their... A searing rush coursed through her as the realization came forward, causing a thick lump to form in her throat, the weight of lead sinking into her abdomen. Quickly, she put her eye to the peephole, spotting the silver bangs and twitching, white ear atop his head, and that was all she needed to undo the chain, unlock the bolt and knob, and crack the door open, an entirely different emotion overturning her facial features.
"You've got a lot of nerve, Inuyasha." She fired, her scowl piercing him through. He flinched, lips pressed in a tight line and eyebrows raised high, not expecting that sort of welcome. In truth, he hadn't known what, exactly, to expect. Surely, not a gleeful hello after not speaking for as long as they'd gone, but definitely not what he'd just received. "I'm busy. What do you want?"
"Can we come in? We need to talk. Believe me, I wouldn't have come if it wasn't important." That was a lie. He'd have shown up at the drop of a random come here text, no prior context needed.
Kagome noticed the man at Inuyasha's side, an amused smirk on his face. He held his badge out for her to see, letting her know he was an officer; presumably in the same precinct as the half demon before her. She stepped back, opening the door wider for them to enter her living room. Inuyasha took the liberty of shutting the door for her, his eyes darting from one end of her apartment to the other.
Immediately, he caught the very faint scent of something dangerous. Unfamiliar, but unsettling. His partner must have caught it too, his blue eyes colliding with Inuyasha's, nodding minutely enough that Kagome wouldn't notice. He fought the urge to search through her apartment to see if the offending smell was stronger in any other room, glancing back at the girl not five feet away, arms tucked beneath the other as she held onto the sides of her old, baggy sweater. Her dark hair was tied up in a messy bun, loose waves springing free from the hair band and curving around her jaw bone. Her brown eyes shifted between the two guys, the discomfort evident on her face as she worried her bottom lip with her teeth. Every corner of the living area was dark, shadowed; all curtains and blinds closed tight. Stepping in further, he noted the normally curtain-less window above her sink draped in a dark sheet, wrapped around as many times as necessary to fit the small window properly.
"Miss Higurashi, was it?" His partner asked, stepping in with his hand held out. He was pretty good at easing any tension, especially when it came to women- one of the many reasons he made a valuable teammate to the ever-abrasive Inuyasha. "My name's Koga. I hope you don't mind us stopping by unannounced. There's no other way to put this, really, but we think you may be in some danger. Have you happened to notice anything strange taking place recently?"
"How did you know?" She asked skeptically, hugging herself tighter and not looking away from Koga. "I just got the pictures this morning."
"You got pictures?" It made sense to Inuyasha now; why Kagome was looking so sloppy compared to her normal, cleaned-up look, and why her apartment was as dark as possible in the middle of a bright day. It was a common way for victims to respond when their privacy was infringed upon. It was their own way of sheltering themselves.
Kagome turned her attention to the small dining table near the wall, black and white photos decorating the table top, a manilla envelope thrown carelessly to the floor beneath it. Inuyasha didn't waste any time, crossing the room to look through the photos spread out before him. They were all the same as the chunk he'd received. Aside from one. One that he desperately wished she didn't have to know about.
"Seriously, though, how did you know?" She repeated. He turned around, ignoring the ache in his stomach as he slowly reached into his inner coat pocket, pulling out his own gifted manilla envelope. He watched her jaw flex as she clenched her teeth together, her lips twitching downward in an immediate, disapproving response. Her arms drooped to wrap around her belly, eyeing the envelope in his hands like it was the most repugnant and vile object she'd ever seen. He hadn't even opened it to reveal its contents. It wasn't necessary for her to understand what was inside.
"Give it to me." Her voice was small, fragile. Kagome held her trembling hand out to Inuyasha, waiting for him to pass his envelope over. He hesitated, almost withdrawing, having to take a moment to swallow his blinding need to protect her. She needed to see these, that's why he'd brought them. Finally, he slipped the package into her open palm, hearing the paper slide against her fingers as clearly as nails on a chalkboard.
Kagome stared at the front, her face paling as she read the half demon's name in big, red letters. "Wh-what is this? Lipstick?"
Inuyasha clenched his fists at his side, his sharp nails biting into the thick flesh. For as long as he'd known Kagome he'd never once seen her so scared or anxious. This wasn't the first time, by a long shot, that he'd witnessed someone addressing the idea of having a stalker, abuser, or assailant of any degree, but it was the first time he'd ever seen that look on Kagome's face, and god did he wish he had the power to wipe it off. It was the first time someone he'd known was on the other end of this sort of ordeal, and as shitty as it was for him to think this way, he wished it was anyone but her.
She opened the tab, reaching in to pull out the stack of photos, and as she gazed at the one on top, the shift in her shoulders and the sigh she released from her nose told him she was slightly relieved it wasn't any different than what she'd already received. "But why were these sent to you?"
Inuyasha didn't have an answer for her. He had no fucking idea and had been trying to figure that out since the moment the damned thing was placed in his hands. Why would a stalker want his presence to be known? Sure, maybe the culprit got their rocks off on their victim's fear, but why in hell would they turn their photos into the authorities? More concerning, why would they specifically want him involved in this wild goose chase?
Kagome was getting ready to put the pictures back into the envelope, having not bothered to flip through them. It was perfectly understandable that she'd assume they were all the same, and they were. But she was missing one. Even Koga's discomfort seemed to noticeably skyrocket, awkwardly looking down at the floor as Inuyasha opened his mouth to stop her. As terrified as he knew she'd be, she needed to see it. She had the right to know.
"Kagome..." He stepped closer, holding his hands out cautiously in a way to stop her. "There's uh... at the back. Look at it."
Just holding the pictures had her stomach feeling weak, like she could throw up any second. The look on the half demon's face now had an unnerving sensation spilling throughout her neck and chest, making it difficult to swallow back the sickening feeling. It was hard to look away from his deep, worried, honey eyes to gaze back down to the pictures she'd already decided she never wanted to see again. It was even harder to glide her nail between the very last picture in the stack, clasp it between two fingers, and pull it to the front, knowing just from the expression on Inuyasha's face that things were about to get so much worse.
Kagome dropped the entire stack to the floor, the image of her sleeping, exposed, vulnerable, and victimized burning her hands like the acidic chemicals on the matte sheet weren't properly cleaned off. She gasped so hard she nearly choked, covering her mouth as she coughed with one hand while holding her churning stomach with the other, backing away, unable to tear her eyes from the red words. Inuyasha was at her side in an instant, hands on her shoulders to flip her around where it was impossible to turn her head to stare at the threat, demanding all of her focus.
"What does that mean, Inuyasha?" She asked, doing exactly as he expected, twisting in his hold to try and see the photo. He wouldn't let her go, his grasp on her firm, silently signaling for his partner to clean the mess up. "I'm next? I'm next for what?! Who the hell says something like that?!"
"You need to calm down, Kagome!"
"Calm down?!" Kagome echoed incredulously, a small laugh at the tale end of it. "How the hell am I supposed to be calm right now?"
"Kagome-"
"No, Inuyasha, I can't -I don't... What am I next for?" Her voice broke as her will to argue died away, cheeks becoming uncomfortably moist for how cold she felt.
"We don't know." Koga spoke, coming into view with two thick manilla envelopes in his hand. Kagome turned around, Inuyasha's grip on her easing, noticing her dining table and carpeted floor cleaned of all pictures. He tucked both envelopes into the deep pockets within his jacket, the gesture, alone, making Kagome feel a bit better. "That's why we came. We need to know if you've noticed any sort of suspicious activity."
It wasn't the first time she'd thought of that. The moment she saw her own set of photos taped to her door this morning, the same question popped into her mind. The thing was, she hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary, and it was bugging her that she must not have been paying close enough attention. It could have been happening right before her eyes, and she never noticed. With how close some of those pictures were taken, that's exactly what was happening. Kagome shook her head, shrugging out of whatever was left of Inuyasha's grip to give Koga her attention. "No, nothing."
"Anyone following you?"
"Not that I've seen."
"Is this the first abnormal occurrence?"
She hesitated that time. Inuyasha heard the hitch in her breath perfectly. Kagome's brows were furrowed together as she thought of something, dark eyes staring at the floor beneath Koga's feet, lips parted and pursed like she was preparing to say something. Color was finally returning to her cheeks, a rush of pink spilling over like her fever had finally broken. Her brown eyes traveled up his partner's body, finally meeting his stare and shaking her head. "No."
"What?" Inuyasha asked.
"I mean, it's probably entirely unrelated, but I've been getting strange calls from unknown numbers for a little over a month now. I ignore most of them, but when I answer all I hear is breathing and maybe... I don't know, mumbling? They never say anything comprehensible." Kagome said, walking over to the coffee table stationed in front of the couch and grabbing her cellphone. She opened up her recent calls and handed her phone to the dark-haired detective. "They don't call very often, but I've still learned to recognize the three numbers to ignore. Sometimes I don't catch myself and answer by accident, but it's always the same thing. Like I said, though, it could be nothing."
"What are the numbers?" Koga asked, handing the cell to Inuyasha and pulling out a small notepad and pen from his pocket.
"The most recent numbers in red. All three of them called yesterday, which doesn't usually happen, but the most frequently used phone number is the one ending in two-two-seven-nine." She watched Koga scribble the three sets of numbers on his paper, nodding when he'd gotten the last one so Inuyasha could hand the phone back to Kagome.
"Have there been any signs of forced entry, like a busted window or broken-in door?"Koga asked.
"No, not at all." She shook her head.
"Okay, does anyone have a key to your apartment?"
"No."
"No one?"
"No one."
"By chance, do you sleep with your windows open?"
"No, she never does that." Inuyasha answered for her, looking a little too casual for Kagome's liking. She couldn't help the skeptical look she shot him in reaction, rolling her eyes as she turned her attention back to Koga. She appreciated that he seemed to ignore the tension that suddenly stiffened the air. Instead, he gave her a knowing smile, shrugging his brows.
"So, what happens now?" Kagome asked, moving passed it.
"We continue to investigate. He claims you're next, and no matter what that pertains to, it means there was a prior victim. We need to figure out just how dangerous this guy is, and the best way to do that is to find out who he's targeted before you. One last question: have you made any enemies recently?"
"I don't think so?" She asked more than stated. "I've never really had an enemy before. I mean, I'm not perfect, but I don't actively try to get on a person's bad side."
"I can believe that."
"Okay, but what about work? I can still go to work, right?"
"Continue on with your day-to-day life, Kagome." Inuyasha answered, crossing his arms over his chest. "Just make sure you're as safe as possible. Lock your windows and door, and carry a key between your fingers. If you can, note anything weird around you that could help us figure out who the guy is. I'm pretty sure he want's to play this game like he's The Riddler and make himself and his goal as hard as possible for us to figure out, but my guess is he's arrogant and sloppy."
"Here's my contact information if you need anything." Koga said, slipping a small business card from his front coat pocket and handing it over. "And I'm sure you've got Inuyasha's. If anything happens at all, don't hesitate to contact either of us."
"Oh, uh..." Kagome's expression twisted in an unpleasant manner, her eyebrows raising as she pressed her lips into a tight line. "I must have lost that somewhere."
"Are you- are you kidding me?" Inuyasha tensed from the punch he just took to the gut. "How do you lose a number that was saved in your phone?"
Kagome shrugged in response, small traces of discomfort disappearing as the corners of her lips curved upward in the smallest smile.
"How fucking rude!" He ripped a card of his own out of his coat pocket, snatched Koga's pen from his hand, and scribbled his personal cellphone number below his work cell, holding the finished product out for her to take. "Here! Keep it this time, Kagome. I'm serious."
"Okay. Alright." She responded, plucking the card from Inuyasha's outstretched hand. "How long do you think it's gonna take to catch this guy?"
"It's hard to say." Inuyasha replied, his tone changing dramatically. "Stalkers are something else, Kagome. First, we have to get a lead, so it's impossible to give you a timeframe. Look, if it makes you feel any better, I'll park my car outside tonight and keep watch."
"Oh, no thats not necessary." Kagome shook her head, trying to brush his offer away as politely as possible. The last think she needed at a time like this was Inuyasha hanging around all night. Or Inuyasha hanging around at all.
"It's fine, I don't mind."
"No, really. Don't worry about it." She said more sternly that time.
"Kagome, more often than not, victims of this sort of thing end up sleeping better knowing there's an officer outside minding the front doors. While it's just an offer, it's an offer I highly recommend you take up." Koga added.
"Okay, well then can you do it?" Kagome cocked a brow, sensing Inuyasha's immediate change in body language, the protective nature he carried about him dwindling away and becoming an air of shock and muffled betrayal. Kagome didn't falter though. She held her ground, her lips pursed in defiance as she gave Koga a hard look, waiting for a response.
"Me?"
"Or literally anybody else?"
"I'm sure we can arrange something." Koga said stiffly, clearing his throat. "No matter what, someone will be parked downstairs tonight."
Inuyasha could sense the ugly smile on his partner's face as they drove back to the precinct in silence. It had grown wider and wider since the moment they'd left Kagome's place, little puffs of air leaving his nose in what sounded like bit-back laughing, and he was damn near ready to snap. While his partner was great on the field, he seemed to balance that out by being an asshat in private, and Inuyasha wished the wolf had a better sense of casualty and dropping shit.
"Dude..." Here we go. "What'd you do?"
"Don't fucking start with me." Inuyasha groaned, rolling his eyes and getting over to the left turn lane, the quick click of the blinker not nearly sufficient enough to drown out the douchebag next to him.
"I mean, I knew you had history with the chick, and even if I wasn't briefed beforehand, man was it obvious enough to piece together, but-"
"Shut up."
"She deleted your number!" He snorted, slapping his hand against his thigh like he'd just said the punchline of a joke. "She deleted your number! What the hell did you do?"
"Will you fucking drop it?"
"Alright, alright. Don't get mad at me, I'm not the one that blocked you. Anyway, do you think this will actually turn into a case?" The wolf demon asked.
"As far as I'm concerned, it already is one."
"Look, I know you feel personally involved in the matter, but if we can't figure out who the guy is, who the previous victim or victims are, and don't have any actual way to tie it to the SVU department, it's not our problem."
"The pictures were sent to me. He wanted my attention for a reason, and whether the captain takes the case or not, I'm figuring this shit out. Before Kagome gets hurt."
"I don't know why you're so concerned. From what I gathered, that girl's more than capable of taking care of herself. It's easy to see why you like her so much." Inuyasha gave a warning snarl in response, the message to end his talk of her coming off perfectly clear. Koga chuckled, never once taking Inuyasha's threats seriously, continuing on. "Anyway, in case you've forgotten, you're a part of this department. If chief says no, you can't touch it. Especially since it's so close to being a conflict of interest. I'm surprised he even let you come down here today. Second, that scent could have belonged to literally anyone."
"You know, as well as I do, that it was a demon."
"And Kagome doesn't associate with demons?"
"Bad demon, dumb ass. It's like milk. When you first buy milk it smells fine, but when it's passed its expiration date it smells rancid. That's not the scent of someone that you invite into your place; that's the scent of someone that invited themselves in."
"Demons compared to sour milk... Hm, good one. Too bad our supernatural senses have never been enough to prove shit to a jury. I'm sure Kagura will happily remind you of that."
"Nonetheless, I'm involved in this puzzle one way or another. I can't be pulled." Inuyasha remarked, turning into the parking garage.
"Look, I don't want to burst your bubble, but you can easily be pulled. The best way to prevent that is to work as quickly as possible in finding out what kind of damage this guy's done."
The two of them marched inside, met by the mildly busy office of their department. Totosai was briefing the other two lead detectives on something in front of the whiteboard at the head of their clumps of desks as Koga pulled the two thick, manilla envelopes from his jacket and dropped them aggressively on his tabletop, catching everyone's undivided attention.
"Yo. We've got a sick and horribly confusing pervert on our hands. What are you guys up to?" He asked all-too casually, a smile plastered on his face.
"Actually, we were just discussing your pervert before you unnecessarily interrupted." Sango gestured up to the board, very few notes jotted down the left side in black marker. "What'd the girl give you?"
"Not much." Koga answered. "She got the same packet of pictures this morning, so she's only been aware of her stalker for about as long as we have. But she has been receiving strange calls for the last, what did she say, month and a half?"
"Yeah."
"So, we jotted the numbers down and we can see about tracing them back to an owner."
"Numbers? Multiple? Those could just be solicitors." Sango said.
"She said they never talk; all she's ever heard on the other line is a mouth breather and talking she can never make out."
"So, clarify something for us, Inuyasha." Hojo spoke, half-sitting on his own desk. "How are you mixed up in this mess? This girl's your ex, right?"
"No." Inuyasha said defensively. "She's an old friend."
"That deleted his number."
"That was no longer my friend for a while, so what?" The half demon shot his partner a look of warning.
"Okay, but what kind of relationship did you and Miss Higurashi have?" Hojo asked, cocking a brow.
"A friendly one?" Inuyasha asked more than stated.
"Doubtful." Koga remarked.
"Seriously, Inuyasha, we're trying to figure out if he's possibly targeting you too. I mean, why would he deliberately send you, a detective, evidence of stalking? And if you are the target, why would he specifically choose to go after a friend of yours? If he's trying to get you where it hurts, why not go after a family member?" Sango added.
"Inuyasha, answer the question. Unless we get something substantial to work with, the case could slip from our hands and wash out. Even the security footage of the drop off this morning was a dud. This guy managed to wear the most suspicious clothing, a ski mask and a hoodie, to a police station and walked away without being noticed. So, what's your relationship with Kagome, and have you made any recent enemies that you know of?" The captain chimed in, his unreadable expression drifting to the nearly-blank list written next to him.
Inuyasha could feel the myriad of expressions flow on his own face, ranging from perplexed, to shocked, and landing on what the fuck? He groaned loudly, finding that to be the only suitable, verbal response to the fact that a walking red flag wasn't noticed at a fucking police station, moving forward to answer Totosai's questions. "I'm gonna be honest, none of the people I arrest usually want to be my friend when I'm done with them. And, if you must know, Kagome and I have a... complicated history."
"Oh, do tell." Koga smirked, leaning on the side of his desk as he got comfortable.
Inuyasha groaned, massaging his forehead as all eyes bore into him. He hated unnecessary attention, and he definitely hated having his laundry aired out to dry. He knew it was for the case, and therefore necessary, but he never expected to be on this end of the interrogation. It was Kagome that was in danger, not him. He was most likely sent the pictures because the stalker probably saw them together months ago. Bring in the knowledge that he's a detective, because surely a stalker could figure that much out, and the suspect was probably dumb enough to think he's just the right amount of cunning that can get away with anything. No other possible explanation made sense. Inuyasha had an eighty-percent success rate when it came to getting culprits off the streets. Any sort of enemy he'd made was behind bars, or somehow related to someone he'd put behind bars. While it was perfectly plausible for someone to specifically target him, the chances of that happening were very slim because by putting the bastards in prison, he'd made a clear point that he wasn't the one to fuck with. Inuyasha wasn't the victim type. He was the formidable protector, thus the reason he'd become a cop in the first place. He hated admitting Kagome had gotten the short end of the stick, but it was more reasonable to admit that his relation was more on the sidelines than in the spotlight. "I've known her for about six years now. She was one of my closest friends for the longest time. Our relationship... I don't know, changed I guess after my ex-girlfriend left."
"Care to elaborate?" Totosai asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I don't understand how this is fucking relevant!"
"Because if we can tie down your relationship, maybe we can understand why the stalker wanted to include you on his invitation list." Hojo answered matter-of-factly.
"Fine, we grew closer. We started sleeping together. Happy? Have you figured out the mystery yet?"
"Ah, so when you said she was your friend, you meant a friend with benefits?" Koga implored, the amusement heard perfectly in his tone.
"If that's the term for it, then yes. It was nothing more than that, though. We had a big fallout and haven't spoken in months." Inuyasha confirmed, plopping down in his seat.
"Still, maybe the culprit saw you two together while it was going on and figured you were a little more. You said you were friends first, partners later. It's easy to misread a relationship like that. If you've got an enemy, he's got outdated information but he's still going for it." Hojo said, rising from his makeshift seat and moving to the whiteboard to grab a dry erase marker.
"Something's still not adding up." Sango mentioned, sighing out as she pushed some hair behind her ears. "Stalkers, at least diligent ones, don't have outdated information."
"So maybe it's not Inuyasha he's targeting." Koga spoke, sounding serious for the first time since this morning.
"Thank you!"
Tree of Young Ages Preschool Academy
Inuyasha leaned against the side of his squad car, his hands buried in the sides of his coat and shoulders shrugged upward to utilize the thick collar and cover his exposed neck better. During the winter, he almost felt he was better off leaving his hair down for any sort of added warmth, but too often than not, the long, silver mess got in his way, so he relented to dressing it up in a ponytail to keep as much of it out of his face as possible. He also felt a ten dollar scarf would have paid for itself seventy times over by now, but he just couldn't bring himself to swallow his pride and purchase one. If his own head of hair got in his damn way, a frilly ass scarf definitely would.
He felt restless where he stood, especially as he caught her nearby scent, growing stronger by the second. He shouldn't be here, and he knew it. It was perfectly clear. His pride may be hurt, but still, there was no swallowing the urge to make sure she was alright. It had been three days since the pictures showed up and they were no closer to figuring out a thing. All the questions pointed his way were driving him insane. He needed a break. He needed to see her.
"Kagome." He breathed as she approached the twisted, thin-wired gate in front of the sidewalk he stood on, the name coming out as a visible puff in front of his mouth, dissipating upwards. She turned around, hair whipping over her shoulders at the speed. He hadn't meant to startle her, especially when it was easy to understand she was on edge. As her eyes landed on him, the corners of her lips curved downward, a notable twitch in her brow.
"What are you doing here?" She huffed, walking over to him.
"Here." Inuyasha grabbed the small, disposable coffee cup from the hood of his car, careful to make sure she could grab it by the sleeve.
"What is this, some kind of peace offering?"
"It's a coffee." He answered flatly, rolling his golden eyes. "Would you just take the damn thing?"
Kagome took it, a small thank you brushing from her lips as she held the hot cup between both of her hands. She knew full and well that Inuyasha hated going into any sort of coffee shop, and reminded herself that if anyone else had brought her a coffee, she would have appreciated the gesture to no end. Just because it was him didn't mean she should suddenly be the kind of person to refuse the generosity, especially when it came to a cappuccino in the dead of winter.
"So, what are you doing here?" She repeated after taking a small sip. "Did you figure something out?"
"No. Everything's a dead end so far. No luck with the phone numbers. Chances are, they're burn phones, so the numbers are hard to trace unless they're making calls. I just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"Oh."
"Has anything happened since we last saw you?"
"No. You don't have to check on me, Inuyasha. I would have called you or your partner if I'd noticed anything." Kagome said, shrugging deeper into her coat, her wavy, black hair curving messily about the thick scarf wrapped around her neck.
"Call me. Don't worry about calling Koga. I can get to you a lot faster than he can, and take care of everything else."
"Geez, it's not a pissing contest, Inuyasha." She made sure to keep her voice down with the amount of parents and children walking through the open gates behind her. "What happens if you don't answer your phone? Am I allowed to call Koga then?"
"Don't worry about that, I'll answer." He argued, following her lead to control their tones in front of the little kids.
"Well, you're notorious for it."
"Will you let that go?"
"Miss Kagome?" A small voice behind them spoke, his tiny fingers wrapping through the holes in the chain-link fence. "Who's that?"
"He's a police officer, honey. He was just saying hi." Kagome responded, smiling at the little boy as if she wasn't currently bothered in the least. "Why don't you go inside, Shippo? It's freezing out here. I'll be there in a second."
"Can we do arts and crafts today?"
"We can do extra arts and crafts since it's too cold to play outside."
"Okay!"
Kagome watched as the small kit ran to the entry door to her class, his thick windbreaker making it difficult for his arms to rest at his side, making him look something similar to a blue marshmallow running for warmth. As soon as she saw him rush past her teaching assistant, she turned her heated attention back to the half demon.
"Just because I've got someone following me around now doesn't mean you can just show up whenever you want and pretend like nothing happened, Inuyasha. Nothing's changed between you and I, so you don't need to pretend like you care all of a sudden."
"Who's pretending?" He barked, unable to bite back the anger as he was once again wounded by the jab she took. Never once had he stopped caring for her. A lifespan could pass, and he'd still drop everything for Kagome.
She took a deep breath to wane her swelling temper, her brown eyes immediately bouncing away from him to look at literally anything else. She was itching to get away, simultaneously drawn to Inuyasha while equally uncomfortable being near him. She absolutely hated the larger part of her that welcomed the pull. A rush of heat ran through her face, her bottom lip dropping to say a quick and snide remark that could easily drop him down a peg, but resealing against her top lip to swallow. "Thank you for the coffee. I'm fine. I'll let you know if something changes. Have a good day. Goodbye."
He watched her turn on her heel and head through the gate, giving warm hello's to the parents dropping off their children as she got closer to the door of her class. He always found it interesting how Kagome was capable of hiding her feelings in the presence of others. If she didn't want anyone to know she was upset, they never would. When it came to him, though, she was an open book. They'd been close for so long, an immediate connection attracting them to the other; they'd seen the ugly and the beautiful sides of one another. He knew it'd be damn near impossible to cut it off. She was brave enough to embrace things on her own, and more often than she ever should, she would. With him, and very few others, there was no wall. When she'd formed a connection with someone, it was a long-term and subconscious thing. Whether she liked it or not. Money down, she wasn't too fond of this one in particular. He understood her better than she did, herself; that's the truth of what happened between them. They connected on indescribable levels. He knew just how scared she was, how angry she felt, and the anxiety that was keeping her up at night. Inuyasha wanted to step in and ease all of that for her, but it wasn't his place. He fucked his place up months ago, and Kagome was making it next to impossible to rectify anything now that the opportunity had presented itself. Up until a few days ago, he never thought she'd speak to him again, and although the first words from her mouth were damn close to an insult, her voice had revitalized a heat in his chest that he hadn't felt since the moment she blocked him out.
How masochistic was that?
Nothing she said would prevent him from doing his job, though. Nothing would ever stop him from making sure she was safe.

The 7 Best Supplements for Your Dog’s Raw Diet
Many dog parents have made or are making the switch to raw food diet for the multitude of benefits it provides: fresh breath and clean teeth, healthier skin and coat, better emotional and mental health, and better digestion. Much of this is made possible because raw food doesn’t preserve or process any of the whole foods that go into it - processes that may ensure longer shelf life but that strip away nutrition at its source.
But does feeding fresh, raw food mean that adding supplements or other fresh foods is no longer necessary?
We don’t think so, and for two main reasons:
Some ingredients don’t freeze or dehydrate well, so adding them as fresh ingredients is essential for unlocking their nutritional potential and providing your dog a complete diet.
Supplementing, whether by adding fresh ingredients or appropriate supplements, is a way of individualizing your dog’s food to fit their precise dietary, lifestyle, and wellness needs.
Like with any diet, make sure that you’re feeding a nutritionally balanced food that's made from reliably sourced ingredients. In this blog, we’re using Formule Raw’s frozen beef formula. This raw recipe is made from 90% antibiotic- and hormone-free beef, 10% fruits and vegetables, and is nutritionally balanced for all breeds and ages of dogs. Not to mention: dogs love it!
So let’s take a look at our favourite supplements that will boost the nutritional availability of any raw food diet:
Happy Days Raw Fermented Goat Milk is easy to feed and looks so delicious that we could almost drink it!
1. Goat milk
Unlike the store-bought cow milk that so many of us are accustomed to, goat milk is more easily digestible and less likely to cause an allergic reaction, thanks to low quantities of a number of proteins found in cow milk that have been linked to allergies. Raw goat milk, which preserves many of its naturally-occurring nutrients, also contains lactase enzymes. This means that even those with lactose intolerance - including dogs - can digest goat milk without any issues.
Goat milk is often considered one of the most complete sources of nutrition available. It contains a balanced source of protein, electrolytes, trace elements, digestive enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids, making it a powerhouse of highly digestible nutrition. Raw goat milk that has been fermented - a process that preserves the natural microorganisms within - contains over 200 probiotics that boost digestive function and immune support. And as we’re coming to find out, your dog’s digestive system plays a huge role not only in their overall health, but in their emotional and mental health, as well.
Best of all, this supplement is suitable for daily use, especially for maintenance of chronic issues such as poor digestion and even liver and kidney disease; or simply add it as a probiotic boost!
The Honest Kitchen’s Beef Bone Broth comes in a powdered form, but can easily be rehydrated and even made into delicious frozen treats!
2. Bone Broth
Bone broth is made by taking bones, especially collagen-dense bones and tissues around the joints, and simmering them in water and an acid (like vinegar) for 24 hours or more. This long process helps to draw out all the beneficial nutrition found in the bones themselves and make them easily digestible.
You’ve probably already heard of bone broth, as it has become somewhat of a celebrity in the health food world - but for good reason. Full of minerals, bone broth contains a number of compounds that help protect and heal joints, particularly glucosamine, chondroitin, and hyaluronic acid.
And with the addition of turmeric in The Honest Kicthen’s Beef Bone Broth, which acts as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, bone broth also makes for a restorative supplement for digestive upsets. It’s ideal for a dog who’s feeling under the weather, or as an intermittent supplement for a dog who needs an extra spring in his step.
Fresh blueberries and a spoonful of veggie and fruit mix - puréed cranberries, broccoli, raspberries, and ground flax seeds.
3. Fresh Greens
Dogs are facultative carnivores, meaning that they can survive on vegetarian diets, but thrive as meat-eaters. The amount of fresh fruits and vegetables you give to your dog is entirely up to you and your dog’s individual needs. But no matter the quantity, fresh greens help provide and can even accentuate many of the vitamins, minerals, fibre, and antioxidants otherwise unavailable to dogs in a purely meat-based diet.
So selecting greens that compliment your dog’s dietary requirements is key. Some of these include: blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, strawberries, pumpkin, broccoli, kale, spinach, kelp, and various microgreens. Blueberries, for example, contain manganese, a trace mineral that helps metabolism protein and carbohydratess, whereas strawberries can even help whiten your dog’s teeth!
But because fruits are a natural source of sugar, avoid feeding excessive amounts. And because not all dogs will take to eating whole fruits or vegetables, nor is it always feasible for them to easily digest them, blending (and freezing) greens is a painless way of providing a green boost to your dog’s health.
Fresh, organic eggs cracked open and ready to be slurped up!
4. Eggs
No matter what diet you feed your dog, whole, fresh eggs are one of the most balanced and bioavailable sources of additional nutrition you can provide. They’re inexpensive and delicious, but don’t shy away from pasture-raised and organic eggs - you are what you eat, after all, and pasture-raised chickens lay eggs that have a higher nutritional value than conventional eggs, with higher levels of protein, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and even fatty acids.
Eggs can be fed raw or soft-boiled, and are great as added protein after a long or active day. As an added enrichment, raw, pasture-laid eggs can be fed whole, as the shell and membrane contain healthy amounts of calcium and phosphorous, as well as other minerals and proteins that play a role in maintaining good bone and joint health.
Bonnie & Clyde’s Wild Omega-3 Fish Oil uses sustainably caught wild sardines, anchovies, and mackerel, and doesn’t have any funky fish smell!
5. Fish Oil
Fish oil is generally made from fat that’s extracted from fish tissue, but can also be made from the livers of some fish - think cod liver oil. It's most known for being rich in omega-3 fatty acids, including EPA and DHA, that are more potent than those found in plant-based sources. A healthy ratio of omega-3s has been linked to healthy growth and maintenance of your dog’s heart, brain, eyes, skin, and even has anti-inflammatory properties. It’s an all-around powerful supplement for mobility and overall health, particularly for aging dogs.
However, fish oil degrades quickly and doesn’t freeze well, so serving it fresh, preferably right before a meal, is the best way to provide its benefits to your dog. Alternatively, both hemp seed oil and flax seed oil contain a comparable amount of essential fatty acids and are just as beneficial when added to a raw food diet.
Raw honey from your local beekeeper works best!
6. Raw honey
A true product of its local environment, honey is made from the nectar of flowering plants, which is then further broken down in the beehive. Raw, unpasteurized, and unfiltered honey is exactly as you would find it in the hive itself. Pasteurization and filtration may make the honey smoother and give it a longer shelf life, but they ultimately strip away the most nutritious aspects of honey: its many important antioxidants and local pollen.
Antioxidants help protect your dog’s cells against free radicals, which play a role in heart disease, cancer, and some chronic illnesses. But pollen? For dogs that suffer from seasonal allergies, exposing them to incremental amounts of local pollen may alleviate their symptoms.
On top of that, honey has a wonderfully sweet flavour that even dogs adore, so it can be added as a topper to any food to entice picky eaters. Certain kinds of raw honey, notably Manuka Honey from Australia and New Zealand, possess antibacterial qualities and can even be used to treat wounds.
RawPaw’s Green Lipped Mussel powder is made fresh from whole New Zealand mussels.
7. Green Lipped Mussel
Green Lipped Mussels (GLMs), or New Zealand mussels are a type of shellfish found only along the coasts of New Zealand. What set these small, green-streaked mussels apart from many other sustainable food sources are the extraordinary health benefits they possess: even in a powdered extract form, GLMs contain very high concentrations of Omega-3s, which, as said before, play a role in heart and brain health.
Most importantly, GLMs contain high quantities of glucosamine and chondroitin. Both of these not only reduce inflammation and discomfort from regular wear and tear or from degenerative inflammatory conditions like arthritis, but also help build and maintain healthy cartilage and bone - making GLM a safe treatment for joint problems and as a preventative treatment for active dogs. Given that 50% of dogs over the age of eight develop inflammatory joint conditions, GLMs are a highly accessible form of pain and inflammation management. Best of all, this powerful supplement has no known side-effects!
Green Lipped Mussel powder can be fed as a topping to food, mixed into liquids, or even fed as ice cubes.
Supplementing your dog’s diet doesn’t have to be hard, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t incredibly beneficial. Every dog can at the very least benefit from the addition of probiotics, omega-3 fatty acids, and fresh greens to help to promote a healthy body and mind.
Because each dog is unique, differences in breed, size, age, personal history, and even dietary preferences will influence what kinds of supplements will be the most beneficial for them. So if you’ve been inspired by any of the supplements here and you’re curious about what you could be adding to your dog’s diet, come visit us at the store! We always get really excited when someone asks us about supplements - even for cats!
