"Great!" Danny says, clapping his hands together to get everyone's attention. The dinner table falls silent as everyone looks towards him. It's a full house today and, honestly, Danny's a little nervous. "I'm sure you're all wondering why I gathered you here today."

"It's dinnertime. In our house." Duke mutters, while doing a very bad job of concealing his yawn. He holds his fork poised over the braised beef, but, just like everyone else, still looks towards Danny before tucking in. It's intriguing enough to wait.

"Yeah, no one misses Alfie's dinner." Dick says, with a brilliant smile that Danny can't help but return.

"Precisely! What better time to talk to you all than when you're all actually here!"

"Wait, I thought you came round to work on our English essays?" Tim asks, blinking owlishly.

"I'm afraid I've lured you here under false pretences, Tim."

"This is where I live."

"I would still really appreciate help on that essay though, I mean, what the hell is Hamlet even about? I just don't get that old time-y language, like 'Hark! A ghost hath killed me!' - absolute rubbish, what does that even mean?"

"The ghost never kills anyone in Hamlet, he's there to tell Hamlet that he was murdered. Have you actually read it?"

Nobody says a word. Nobody even blinks, all as shocked as the other, watching open-mouthed as Danny pulls his laptop out from beside his chair. Bruce can definitely feel a headache coming on.

"Before you say anything, I've prepared a 69 slide PowerPoint presentation on why you, Bruce Wayne, should adopt me, Danny Last-Name-Pending. Please save your questions, comments, and verdict until the end, thank you."

"Andrealphus..." you sigh. It's a spell, each syllabe to his full name a powerful thing on your lips drawn by your voice.

He says it is almost as if you had never broken your pact with him, truth is he needs no binding to obey to your whims and fancies.

"Yes?" though there's no need for a reply. By now he knows well of what you're going to say or rather do. After all, this has turned into a routine thing since you became part of his life.

Your fingers busy themselves plucking at the soiled angel feathers strewn about his braid, feather-light; he feels it, ticklish, and huffs.

Supposedly he likes the bloody bits, they are there for a damn reason, yet he also likes your hands on him, so it's quite the predicament- one he isn't in his right mind to solve, at that. Not with you here, for his senses skew and warp to accommodate more of your affection.

He is not argumentative, then.

He is more than anything else exhausted, Andrealphus, and your gentleness feels exquisite... Even when you tug or yank to remove dried up blood he doesn't think he's been touched like this. Ever.

There's the stench of angel-death about him and permeating his surroundings. He wishes he could sense more, but Andrealphus has grown too accustomed to it. Then there's also your warmth, that still so wildly unfamiliar when you drape yourself over his shoulders.

You rid him of spoils of war, bare him, and he lets you because at the end of it when all his long hair is unwoven like a curtain of light and you move it to one side, over his shoulders, he feels your kisses drag along the ridges of his spine to die upon the back of his neck and it is all so worth it.

Might be a good thing, could be, he mumbles, that he starts to forget his ways.
