I am so sorry you're dealing with this, anon. It sucks so fucking bad and depending on how public it is, it could get very rough.

My first bit of advice is to close your inbox IMMEDIATELY. That means no asks off anon either. Also check your DM settings and switch them so that you can only receive messages from blogs you follow. Switch your reply settings too while you're at it. If the callout or posts are on a different site, like Google docs or archive.org, consider making a report or putting in a request for them to be removed. It may not happen, but it's worth a try.

Do NOT respond to the hate. I know it's tempting to try to make a snappy comeback or even to express how much you're hurting, but it is absolutely 100% not worth it. Report any threats and harassment, then block the person and move on. If you have any side blogs that are associated with your main, make sure to block them on those blogs too.

If you want to make any sort of posts about it, severely limit yourself with what you say (try not to get too emotional, again I know it's tempting but it WILL be used against you) and try to keep it short; a simple explanation of why you're a proshipper and why you are NOT ashamed or embarrassed of that will suffice if you really want to talk about, then TURN OFF THE REBLOGS. If you don't want to acknowledge it publicly, then don't. That's your right.

Depending on how bad things are, you may want to take a break from tumblr. Whether that's for a few days or a few months, take all the time you need. Harassment on tumblr is very much based on the victim's responses; if you don't give people the satisfaction of being publicly hurt, then a lot of them will lose interest and move onto something more interesting. Taking a break from tumblr both lets the hype die down a bit and gives you time to recalibrate without that stress.

If you want to make a new main blog, that is also totally fine; people will tell you that it's cowardly to "run" like that, but remember that those are the people harassing someone over fiction. Taking care of yourself is not cowardly. I switched all my side blogs to a new (and "secret") main before and it was a huge weight off my shoulders and the mutuals who were chill followed me.

There's something we want to talk to everyone about regarding posts and replies.

It is very important that everyone read this post in full, so please do so! We'll be able to tell who has and who hasn't, and anyone we notice hasn't read it will receive a link to this post via tumblr and discord until we know it's been read. You've been warned!

As you probably know, Tumblr launched a new post editor a couple of years ago that hasn't been officially, fully implemented onto the site. Because of this, when making posts and doing replies, some of us are still able to toggle on and off between the legacy editor (the one we've been using for years now) and the new one. However, back in May, tumblr announced that they would start removing the legacy editor for some users, meaning that the eventual takeover of the new post editor is inevitable. Because of this - and a lot of reasons that we will go into further detail below - we think it's time to say goodbye to the legacy editor and only use the new post editor when posting starters and doing replies.

The thing is, as much as we love the legacy editor (RIP), you've probably noticed that sometimes using it to reply to posts that were created with the new post editor will make them a bit... wonky, to say the least. Your reply will appear twice, maybe the entire post will duplicate and then be impossible to delete (or simply require too much energy to fix). It complicates things for everyone. It's not anyone's fault! It's Tumblr's updates. It's also very hard to know when a post has been made using the legacy editor vs. the new post editor, so it's impossible to know whether a reply will work or not. To make things easier for everyone, I think it's important we all switch to the new post editor starting effective immediately.

Here's a couple of questions you might have.

Does XKit work with the new post editor?

The short answer is no. At least not the New XKit, the extension we've been using for ages now. If you've been roleplaying for a while, you probably remember there was an extension simply called XKit before New XKit came about, which was back when tumblr changed their post format the last time circa 2015. They got rid of blockquotes in reblogs! Remember? You couldn't edit your partner's reply even if you tried. And they did it again, except this time, it was a little harder to fix, so New XKit is no longer working with this new format. Reblogs using the new post editor look differently now. You can see an example of the difference below.

Does that mean I can't cut posts anymore?

Nope! You still can. The process is a little different, but if we're all using the new post editor, it shouldn't be very complicated.

You can use something called ✨ XKIT REWRITTEN ✨

It's another extension! (everyone say: thank you devs)

Because we are no longer allowing anyone to use the legacy editor, I would encourage everyone uninstall the New XKit extension you have and replace it with this one. It has basically the same features as the last one and is very user-friendly!

How does Trim Reblogs even work?

You can find a guide to using Trim Reblogs that explains it a million times better than I ever could right here. We'll have it linked in the resources channel on the discord as well, in case you need to check it out.

What about my current replies using the legacy editor?

Because we know you have active threads using the legacy editor, we'll allow you to play those out still using New XKit and editable reblogs, but any and all starters going forward have to be made using the new post editor. If your replies with your partner are duplicating or not working, you can either continue to write them that way, removing any duplicates if possible, or reach out to them and ask them what they want to do; try to figure something out that works for both of you.

So, TL;DR (but I DO hope everyone read this!):

Using the legacy editor will no longer be allowed in the roleplay. If you are currently using the legacy editor in replies, finish those but going forward, please post every starter and reply using the new post editor, install XKit Rewritten and toggle on Trim Reblogs to be able to cut your posts.

Hi! I have some more info on the Viki version of Lita! Just in case the person who asked or you are maybe still interested in this. I don't know where the general public watches Lita but for me the first time I watched it was on some shady streaming site, the legality of which was most likely a little questionable - it was the only option at the time, tho. The English subs there were very much fine, overall in correct English and you know. They made sense and determined my understanding of the scenes and conversations.

I watched it there twice but once my mum wanted to watch it too, it had been added to Viki. So we all watched it together on Viki again. And I do have to say, the subs ARE kinda different. It sort of changed my understanding of the characters a little, too, right from the start. Because the subs on Viki are also very understandable and correct, like, grammar-wise very flawless and all, but they were just different. I feel like, on Viki, they tend to try and make certain terms or things understandable to international viewers by replacing them or describing them as things that are known to English-speaking viewers. I felt like, where my shady website just wrote stuff like boss as the Thai word in the subs, Viki translated it as "boss". In this case: no problem. In other cases, with rather specific words, the intonation of a sentence could be different, because a few words were switched out, and so on. Their relationship dynamic was a tiny bit different, too, there, since some of their flirty scenes or emotional scenes were translated a little different. That, so far, isn't bad. None of this is supposed to sound negative, in any way. For me, the shady website subs were a little confusing sometimes, as I didn't know many Thai terms (been a while since I watched anything Thai), and I had to figure out stuff like P' and Nong and all that first. But then, rewatching it on Viki, I felt like I understood a few things better - but I also felt like some scenes were lacking the extra info that I had gained from the other subs before. Viki felt smoother and easier to understand, and it's nice when you've watched the other version of Lita first, but it was sort of itching me to explain some things to my mum that weren't so clear in the Viki version.

I guess it's a matter of preference - i can recommend watching both, gives you a reason to rewatch it AGAIN under the disguise of gaining perfect understanding from both kinds of subs :D

FEDIVERSE INFO/GUIDE

TLDR: Info/guide about decentralized social media alternative if people would like to move away from Tumblr. Also I'm sorry for info-dumping.

### INTRODUCTION(ig i'm doing a chapter thing) Hi, it me, one of the little gay people in your phone. It's been a little since us 196ers have moved over to Tumblr. Over the first few months it felt like Tumblr became a place for our little community to settle down for the years to come but after the entire drama with Predstrogen getting banned by the CEO himself, life on this platform has seemed rocky to me. I was happy to see the community here was outraged and rallied against these actions but it feels like once again we are on a site that doesn't value or respect us. One question that I saw a few times during this event was if we should migrate to another platform and where to if so. This was met with not much of an answer because where else is there to go? Back to Reddit? Twitter? Somehow move to Instagram? To those who feel like there is no where left to turn let me introduce you, the two people who are actually read this, to the Fediverse.

### WHAT IS THE FEDIVERSE

In the most basic terms it's a group of individual servers that are connected to create a bigger social media platform. It's kind of like if you could view and communicate with people on Instagram and Reddit while on Tumblr and vise versa just with a lot of smaller independent servers.

This allows for a lot of smaller servers with unique communities and rules to mingle and thrive without needing to worry about advertisements, algorithms, or higher-ups from randomly banning your account for just existing(I mean that can happen if there's a bad admin but then you can just create a different account on a different server).

I feel like this corner of the internet would be perfect to harbor the 196 community. Below is a guide on how to set up an account and a little bit about the interface to anyone who would like to try. At the very bottom is also a great video that goes over everything here just better I would say. If you would, give it a try. It would make my heart warm to see the 196 tag on there.

### HOW TO MAKE AN ACCOUNT

# STEP 1: Pick a server

The first step in creating an account is picking the a server. This in the end won't matter that much as if you create an account on a niche server you will still be able to see the content on all other servers connected to the Frediverse. The two main things you will want to be looking at while choosing a server is: 1. Join or apply: Some servers you will need to apply to get in while others are open to anyone. I've never tried to apply to any servers so I can't say anything about the process, but it is something to keep in mind if you would just like to create an account and instantly start posting.

2. The rules: For rules that should be self explanatory. If some of y'all want to do hornyposting, which please do, then you should make sure the server you choose is okay with that type of stuff.

3. Character Limit: Every server will have a character limit for messages which is the only downside when switching from Tumblr. For most servers this limit is 500 character but it can be more. I don't know how to see this per server but if it's a bigger server it's more than likely it'll be a 500 character limit. Below are two links to help with server hunting: 1. The main page with some of the most popular servers.

2. A tool that can help you sort ALL of the servers.

For this tutorial I'll create an account on neovibe.app to demonstrate but feel free to join any one that catches your eye even if it's a general server like mastodon.social(that is a perfectly fine option).

# STEP 2: Fill out the info

Once you have picked a server go to it's page (so for me I'll put neovibe.app into my URL). Then once the page loads hit the 'create account' button.

Now you will be taken to the rules of the server. Double check they are good with you before hitting accept.

Now you will be taken to your usual social media fill out page. Fill the information and hit sign up. Next you will be prompted to verify your email and after that you should be ready to start posting.

# STEP 3: Enjoy

Once you've created your account you can now start posting. This works a little like Twitter but less toxic and isn't a in a spiral right now.

Here are some descriptions of the tabs you will use most: Home - Your home tab will show you things the people you follow posted along with tags you follow. Explore - The Explore tab I believe shows you what's trending today. Live Feed - The Live Feed shows you the newest things. It can be sorted between the server you are on, other servers, or all the servers.

When posting remember if something is NSFW or gory remember to add a content warning.

2. how did the pairing in thai bls stared? like did they just randomly decided to pair the actors who did good together and keep casting them both for roles? because they got popular with fans or was it more planned and conscious effort to sell that?

So far so good, it's a slow week, I got a lot of stuff out that I'm waiting to come home again with work, which means I am sitting around twiddling my thumbs doing busywork (as the gran would call it) and distracting myself on Tumblr.

At some point in the not too distant future a big project is gonna hit and I’m gonna disappear except for the weekly updates and y’all are gonna think I’m dead.

I think I remember it being pretty bad always. But then I watched MoD grey so everything was terrible, rips and all, and thre were random ads and threats of viruses. Count your blessings in that regard, trust me, it could be A LOT worse. 

I’m just getting around to a rewatch on WeTV but I’m not expecting much. I’ll let you know if I feel like the sounds is significantly worse than I remember. 

Honestly, with very few exceptions Thailand is TERRIBLE with sound, even worse when they go on location. Their looping is bad (if they bother). I mean we JOKE about how terrible they are with boom mics so much that Our Days referenced it. 

For goodness sake they use wired mics for intimacy scenes, and cheap wireless mics at WINDY locations. It’s just *throws hands into air.* 

Speculation is there just aren’t any sound techs in Thailand. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 

How do Thai BL Pairs Happen? How did it start?

SOTUS started it. Ironically, we get to blame SingtoKrist. 

OffGun made it popular and caused everyone to realize it was possible to make more money as branded pair (sponsorship deals). 

But it was MewGulf who actually broke the internet. They caused Harper/Vogue something fashiony (?) Thailand’s website to crash when they appeared on the cover together, also won best kiss Asia against all the het couples. 

Originally I believe it was unplanned, but KirstSingto did so well on variety shows and with fan meets when promoting SOTUS and then SOTUS S they got given their own travel-esk show (by GMMTV). Say what you like about Krist he’s really good on a “yes, and.” Then GMMTV started to just sort of do a hard push with any pair they could, to try to get them to stick and recreate this magic. 

For the first few years 2016-2019 or so, the boys were just farting around and not really intentional about it. I think as the IRL shipping got worse (especially with MewGulf and ZeeSaint), expectations started to be different from within the industry (as well as from outsiders). Things have changed after multiple fissures and problems with pairs disbanding (and this having a career impact). 

Sometimes GMMtV’s intentional approach works (EarthMix) sometimes it fades away (PodKhaotung) sometimes it’s purposefully made-over by the studio (BrightWin). 

Career-minded and more savvy actors and managers are now, understandably, both wary and intentional in their approach to pairing up (and IF they will have an approach at all). Watching how Nanon and Ohm handled it for Bad Buddy was eye opening. (Ohm’s previous pairing from Make It Right seems to have left in industry for... not great reasons... So I’ve always assumed Ohm is relatively jaded and definitely guarded about BL.)

On the flip side, indie pairs started to form with specifically an eye towards acting together as the leads in dramas (e.g. KaownahTurbo and SantaEarth).

I go back and forth on this a lot because anyone who reads my stuff? A+ in my book, you guys rock just for being here and putting up with my bullshit and taking the time out of your busy days to read through some silly little fic that I've posted.

I don't expect to be famous or even tumblr famous whatever that means. And truly, it isn't about the notes for me. They could take away the notes counter tomorrow and I'd be fine with it.

For me, it's about two things: showing appreciation and the function of this website.

I'll start with function because it's a little easier to talk about and a lot less controversial.

Tumblr, unlike literally every other social media, does not have an algorithm. They try, they have a bit of a 'based on your likes' feature, but literally no one I know uses that. The beauty of tumblr is that you curate your dash by following blogs whose content you like.

Let's do a thought experiment. What if all the blogs you followed suddenly stopped reblogging content?

I'm sure your dash would be much more boring, much less active. This site doesn't work without reblogs. Likes literally mean nothing. This isn't Instagram, where your likes will at least contribute to the success of a post and boost it in the algorithm. This isn't Twitter, where your likes will be shown on people's timelines.

Tumblr does not work unless you reblog content. Like, it just doesn't. It's how things spread, it's how, in 2013, we got skeleton war, and Supernatural gifs for everything, and the Mishapocalypse, and Night Blogging. Because people shared things. And they spread.

But now the more controversial thing: appreciation. I understand being a silent reader. There are times when I read a fic and I don't have the energy to write a review for it, not even to do a keyboard smash. I understand being nervous to interact.

Let me introduce you to the blank reblog.

Blank reblogs are better than likes. Blank reblogs say 'this was good, so I want to share it with you, my followers.' You can always go back and write a review of the fic, or reblog it again, or comment on it when you have the energy, or send the writer an anonymous message with your thoughts if you really want to. But blank reblogs still let you share the content to your followers. Maybe someone who follows you will also enjoy the fic that you shared, and then they share it, too. That's how content spreads on this platform.

Likes, to most of the writers and creators I interact with, do not mean that you liked something. They mean that you're bookmarking it for later so you don't lose it. I liked this post on my phone so I wouldn't lose it when I switched to desktop to write my thoughts down.

I think we've all seen writers and creators on here saying that they feel underappreciated and unmotivated because of the lack of engagement and interaction. I've shared a few posts like that myself. I've also seen silent readers get defensive, and feel like writers are being whiny and entitled to engagement.

It's a tough balance. As much as they'd like to, readers cannot reblog everything. And there are some writers who are in it just for the notes. But to me, what those posts get at is that

no one likes to feel like they're screaming into a void

When I post a fic that I've spent months writing, and it gets lots of likes, but hardly any comments or reblogs and no one seems to want to talk about it with me, it hurts. Not because I necessarily want the validation of lots of notes, but it feels like no one cares.

A lot of my fics center on things that I struggle with--feelings of abandonment and othering in Fix You and Home, my struggles with my sexuality and feeling good enough in various LTC fics, feeling overwhelmed and stressed from expectations in this wip I have--and when people don't even acknowledge a fic, it can really sting.

Your favorite writers and creators don't hate you for not interacting with their stuff. They want a community.

They want people to relate to their fics, to feel something through their fics. They want to talk to people who appreciate what they're doing, even if it's just for a brief message. They want to be seen. They write for themselves, but it's hard to post to a void.

And I know, that's not really your problem as readers. But know that when/if you do reblog something with a review, or you message a writer with your thoughts on their fic, without exaggeration, you will be making their day.

In the past few weeks I’ve built a model railroad signal for garden railways with a custom DCC decdoder. Here’s what it looks like:

I’ve heard from a number of people that they thought this was interesting, but they didn’t really understand what I was doing. So today I’ll try to explain the core of it all, this circuit board:

I’ll try to explain why this is the way it is and what it does.

(This whole explanation is aimed at people who have never done anything with electronics before. If that’s not you, then this may be a bit boring. Also, I didn’t come up with any of the parts of this. Most of this is based on things I learned by reading OpenDCC and Mikrocontroller.net. I’m sure I still made a lot of mistakes, though, and they’re definitely all mine and not the fault of anyone on these sites.)

The goal

First let’s talk about requirements. My goal was to build an american signal type “Searchlight”. Such a signal has between one and three lamps. Thanks to a clever electromechanic design that moves different color filters around, each lamp can show different colors - up to three from a total selection of four.

Replicating this system for a model railroad is not practical. I need something else. Having multiple colored LEDs next to each other wouldn’t work; they’re too big and I want it to all look like one light source. There are LEDs that contain red, blue and green in one housing, but that would require a lot of wires quickly that all have to be put in the mast. The solution is this:

This is an “adressable” LED, better known under the name “Neopixel” used by a large american online store. There are many variations from different manufacturers. The key thing is that each LED has a tiny control circuit built right in. It takes four wires: Plus five volts, minus, data in and data out. If you have more than one, you can connect the data out of the first directly to the data in of the second and so on. Connect the plus and minus as well, and you can control almost unlimited amounts of LEDs with just three wires.

The data line has a special protocol that you need to generate. Basically you need to switch it from 0 to 5 to 0 volts again and again at a certain rate; the time it stays at 5 volts (“high”) determines whether you’re sending a 0 or a 1. From these bits you form bytes, which tell each LED what specific color value to send.

Due to this dataformat, you definitely need some electronic circuit controlling the signal, and the first requirements for this are:

Provide five volts DC power

Generate the data for the LEDs in the correct format

The Input

There are a lot of options for designing the input side of things. In my case, I’m assuming the signal is electrically connected to the rails of a model railroad that is controlled digitally. With digital command control (DCC), the voltage at the rails has a constant value of about 15 to 25 volts, larger for larger scales. This voltage constantly flips polarity; first plus is on the left rail, then it goes to the right rail (and minus vice versa), and then back. It’s like AC in normal wall outlets, but with very abrupt changes instead of a smooth sine wave.

This voltage has two tasks. First it supplies the locomotives with power, but it also transmits information. If one of these change-and-back sequences is long, it transmits a “0”; if it’s short, it transmits a “1”. These bits together then form the bytes that form the messages that say things like, “Locomotive three run at speed step 64” or “switch 10 switch to direction left”.

This decoder uses both features. The digital voltage provides both the data and the power. For a locomotive, that is required since the only conductors you have are the rails. This is a stationary decoder, so I could have designed it so that it only uses digital commands, and gets the power from an external power supply. However, I wanted to use the least amount of cables, so I’m using the simple version.

With that, the requirements are fixed. The circuit has to:

Turn the digital power (15-25 Volts, AC-ish) into 5 Volts DC

Read and understand the digital data signal (decode it, hence the name “decoder”) and calculate the colors for the LEDs.

Computation

This calculation is the real key here. The digital signal has a completely different fromat than what the LEDs expect. It’s slower, but also has completely different meaning. At best it transmits “set switch or signal 10 to state 0”. Which color values are associated with that, let alone any blending to make it look nice, are things the signal has to decide for itself. There is no way to build a simple stupid adapter here; I need a complete computer.

Luckily, you can get those for cheap and in really tiny.

The ATtiny85 costs about 1€ depending on how many you order, and it’s smaller than one cent coin (I think in basically any currency), but from a technical point of view, it is essentially a full computer. It has all the important parts anyway. There is a CPU that can run at (depending on the version) up to 20 MHz; half a kilobyte of RAM and eight kilobyte of internal storage for the program. Multiple programs is a bit of a challenge. If you know Arduinos, the ATtiny85 is related to the ATmega328p in the Arduino Uno and Nano. Far less powerful, but cheaper and significantly smaller.

What it lacks are all the surroundings like keyboard and screen for input and output. The chip is designed for applications where this isn’t needed, or at least only minimal things. The software that you write can assign each pin (okay, five out of eight) freely for different tasks: The pin can work as an input, telling the software whether there’s a low or high level of voltage at it (meaning 0 or 5 Volts), or it can work as an output and write high or low values, meaning setting the pin explicitly to 0 or 5 Volts.

There are other options for the Pins as well; among other things it can also read analog voltages and generate them to some extent. But for this task I only need the simple digital high-low inputs and outputs.

These types of chips, known as microcontrollers, exist in thousands of variations by different manufacturers with very different performance characteristics. They are the key part of basically everything that’s digitally controlled these days. Washing machines, everything that plugs into a computer including every single Apple lightning cable, TVs, TV remotes, amazing amounts of parts in cars and so on are all the realm of microcontrollers. The ATtiny85 is, as the name implies, very much at the low end of the scale (though there are smaller ones), and even here, it is a bit out of date. But it is very easy to program and very forgiving of mistakes, which makes it great in hobby situations.

To run, this chip needs around 3-5 Volts DC (some versions like the one here can also run on a bit less) and exactly one capacitor. I’m already generating 5 Volts DC for the LEDs anyway, so this chip will get them as well. That means for all the calculation, only two pieces of hardware are required.

There is some more associated hardware, though, for getting the program (which I’ve written myself) on the chip. For that you need a programmer, a device that you can buy for some money, or make yourself astonishingly easily from an Arduino. It needs to be connected with six wires to the chip. The standard for this is with a six-pin plug, which I’ve thus included here as well. There are standard six-wire cables for this.

You could connect the cables differently, for example with some sort of spring-loaded contacts on some programming circuit board you’d have to build for that, or in the worst case, just temporarily solder the cables in there. But the plug version is both simple and convenient, with the only downside that it makes the circuit a bit more pointy.

Where can I download movies and shows?

First off, I prefer direct downloading rather than torrenting stuff because it’s faster and with torrenting, there’s more of a risk. Other people downloading the same torrent can see your IP address. This means movie studios can find out you’re downloading their content and can send you a warning letter. The download speed also varies depending on how many other people are seeding it. I would only do it if it’s your only option and you have a VPN or something.

This is THE best guide for pirating I’ve ever seen. I use it for finding sites for books, music, you name it. The part of the guide you’d want to look at is where it says Direct Downloads Link (DDL) sites. My favorite place is Snahp. These ddl sites will have links to their movie/tv rips that are typically hosted on one of these two sites: google drive or mega.nz. You can download stuff from both of those sites for free, but with mega, they have a 5GB file download limit unless you have a premium account. I personally pay the $5 a month membership for mega because it’s worth it imo. You can buy a subscription through the mega app found on the iphone app store (so you’re billed through apple and it’s less scary than giving a random site your credit card info lmao) and as for androids I think mega has an app on there too.

So basically, if you go to http://snahp.it, they’ll have rips for different movies and shows.

You click on the movie title and it’ll take you to a page where they have links for the video which they have uploaded on a variety of sites (including mega).

How do I make my gifs as HQ as possible?

It’s best to gif things that are 1080p. And usually the higher the file size, the better. A really important thing to note is that not all 1080p bluray rips are the same. The piracy groups that rip these files take uncompressed .mkv rips from discs that are anywhere from 10gb to like 50gb, and then run that through video converters to compress the file down so that they’re 2-8gb. Sometimes when that happens, the video quality goes down a LOT. The same goes for TV episodes. One rip could be 800mb, the other could be 3gb and both could claim to be “1080p” but the quality would be NOTICEABLY different. Your best bet is to always pick the rip with the highest file size.

I’ll show you an example with this scene from You’ve Got Mail.

I downloaded 2 different 1080p rip versions of the film. Both claim to be 1080p, but one is 2.41 GB and the other is 9.75 GB. After taking screencaps, it’s obvious that there’s a BIG difference in quality.

When it comes to Blu-ray rips, download remux versions of films and shows if possible. Remux means .mkv files that are uncompressed and straight from a Blu-Ray disc. Giffing remux rips cuts down on the possibility of seeing pixel-y effects a LOT in my experience. It’ll take a bit longer to download than typical 1080p rips but it’s worth it imo.

For TV episodes, if you can’t find a Blu-Ray rip, uploads with the word AMZN in it are usually the highest quality and your best bet (unless you see another upload that’s higher in file size - again: always try to pick the highest file size). 'AMZN’ means they’re from a person that ripped the episode from Amazon Prime Video.

Also, even better than 1080p is 4k (2160p). I only really recommend this though if you know you’re going to gif something up close and crop it a lot - like if it’s a big 540x540px close-up gif of a person. You’ll REALLY see the difference if it’s a 1080p vs 4k rip in that situation. I usually don’t bother with giffing 4k files unless it’s the case above because my laptop lags when taking 4k screencaps and it takes longer to load them into photoshop (4k screencaps are usually about 60mb each!)

⭐️ Another thing that’s important is making sure that when you actually make your gifs, you set them to the correct speed (.05 for movies and most shows, and .04 sometimes for reality tv and live broadcasts). Here’s my gif speed guide. Having the right gif speed is really important for making a gifset HQ. You don’t want it to look too slow or too fast.

What’s your favorite video player to take screenshots with?

MPV player, hands down. And I’ve tried a TON of programs over the years. I’ve tried KMPlayer and found that it added duplicate frames (and even missing frames) which is horrible, and I’ve tried GomPlayer which is.....I’m just gonna say it, I’m not the biggest fan of it. It’s a little overly complicated in my opinion and it has ads. If you like these programs, more power to you! Use whatever you’re comfortable using. I just like MPV the most because it doesn’t have ads, it’s simple, you can take sequential screencaps with a keyboard shortcut, and it can play 4k movies.

Screencaps I take of 4k 2160p movies look so dull and washed out, like the colors aren’t right. Why is that?

That’s because your computer can’t handle HDR 4k video files. It probably can handle SDR 4k video files, but unfortunately, 99% of 4k rips out there are HDR.

Now, HDR displays just fine on computers that have 4k-HDR capabilities, but most older computers don’t have this ability. Having said that, MPV - the video player I mentioned above can take a 4K-HDR video and fix the colors/lighting in real time so it displays correctly AND take screenshots of it with the fixed colors. If you have an older version of MPV, make sure you download the newest update for this. In my general gifmaking tutorial, there’s a portion on how to install this program on macs. I also just made a video tutorial on how to install it on pcs here!

High quality TV and Movie rips can take up a LOT of space on my computer. Where do you store your files?

I store them on external hard drives. External hard drives are like flash drives but they have a MUCH higher storage capacity. You just plug them into your computer via a usb cord when you need access to the files and it’s that easy. I have two of these Seagate 4TB hard drives in different colors so I can easily pick out whichever one I need. I have silver for my movies (because it makes me think of “silver screen” lmao and it’s easier for me to remember) and then I just have a blue for shows. Now, external hard drives of this size can be $$$$ but it’s worth it imo. Look out for when they’re on sale.

What’s the size limit for gifs now?

It’s 10mb! It used to be 3mb and then last year Tumblr upped it to 5mb. Some gifs initially had distortion because of Tumblr’s switch from the .gif to .gifv format, but they’ve fixed the problem AND increased the upload limit to 10mb.  Just make sure not to add any lossy to a gif.

Lossy is basically a grain you can add to a gif to lower the file size down. Gifmakers (including myself) used to use this as a trick to get the file size down under 3mb. However, since the .gifv update on Tumblr, any gifs with Lossy added will look distorted like it’s a gif made on a phone app or something.

I’ve gotten an ask about this problem 3 times since I’ve uploaded this tutorial, so I thought I’d add this in. If you are experiencing duplicate and/or missing frames in mpv, it is a glitch with the latest version of mpv. download an older version like 0.29.0. this happened to me on my mac and downloading an older version fixed the problem.

The war was over.

The war was over.

That was what you thought; anyways. The quiet had returned, though Marshal Foch's words rung through your head-

"This is not a peace. It is an armistice for twenty years."

Assumedly, if he was right, you'd still be within draft laws in 1938... but that couldn't be. Europe was too broken, too pained, it would take decades for all the nations to be ready to war again...

Regardless, you feared it wasn't enough. Germany was a proud nation; a far too proud nation, like your own France or the Perfidious Albion in the North. A few restrictions and debts- maybe that would just anger them-...

It didn't matter. You had to put the stress out of your head for now, the memories of death and bleeding, the holes filled with dead brethren stricken by artillery shells.

Those damned Kaiser-following-

Stop it. You had to stop it.

You were going to see your daughter. If you came home shellshocked and still going through traumatic, it'd put more stress on her - ever loving and selfless, she was - to care for you then be a reunion.

You didn't want her to have to deal with you, you only wanted to embrace and go back to living a normal life with her.

As normal as it could be, anyways.

You moved up to your home on a hill outside the city limits of Bordeaux. It was a modest home, but not as small as some people's. You had considered yourself fortunate to own it, especially with the view of the sunrise on the city in the distance and the sunset over the even more distant Atlantic.

However, there were no candles in the windows. Your daughter was hardworking, ever-hopeful, and a shining example of a woman... she would've kept this home from looking the way it did now, slightly less... decrepit. It dawned on you it was empty, her bicycle similarly gone it's normal resting place opposite the front door.

Approaching an old man on a bench sitting a fair distance from your house, his hands shaking - perhaps he hadn't fought in this war, but clearly the look in his eyes and the unstoppable movement in his hands reflected your own; only you were younger... perhaps this was a glimpse of your future. Or a sign. Regardless, you had a feeling... somehow, you had a feeling that he knew something.

Gently, you moved to sit next to him.

"Hello," you said softly; yet loudly enough. You knew that with war and old age came a certain loss of hearing.

"..." the old man said nothing for a moment, then nodded his head politely in greeting. It wasn't unheard of, after all; and perhaps he had trouble speaking as well.

"I am the owner of that house up there," you explained. "My daughter, Oiseauette, should be here keeping it pristine for me. Perhaps she is out, foolishly independent as ever, but it looks abandoned. Do you know where she has gone, by any chance?"

Somehow, even with his sunken eyes, a solemness fell on the man; almost as if he had known he would have to say what he was going to for a long time, but had hoped he wouldn't have to.

After a few moments, the elderly man opened his mouth and began, slowly, to speak.

"She has moved," he said tentatively and simply, as if refusing to elaborate.

This was confusing; it was a nice house and she seemed to like it. Perhaps she had, in a moment of rare foolishness, moved closer to the front lines to see you faster, but her messages had been lost in transit?

Before you could continue thinking, the man pulled out a paper and shakily wrote an address down, handing it to you.

You swore you knew that address, from before the war, but it had been years. Perhaps it was a family member's... perhaps she had inherited it from a grandparent of hers?

You thanked the man, rose to your feet, and turned to walk - nothing would slow you from seeing the loving radiance of light that was your child, not the weather in the sky, the ache of your legs or the burning memories in your head.

You turned, though, as he called you back in a deeply apologetic tone.

"It is large," he called with a great deal of effort, almost visibly straining his lungs and throat to speak loudly after so long. "And I am sorry. You will need to know the number 126, as well."

Confused, you nodded and thanked him once more before walking off.

126? Why would you also need to know a number? Perhaps the taxes had gotten too high here and she had gone to an inn - a room number in a large inn, that must've been it.

Nearly thirty minutes later, you knew that wasn't the case.

It was a cemetary. A massive cemetary, mostly full of your own brothers in arms that had returned in coffins rather then in celebrations.

This could not be. It couldn't. Desperately, your already pessimistic wartorn brain tried to make hope. Your daughter, perhaps, had picked up a job as a groundskeeper here, perhaps, in case you also died, knowing you would be buried here. And how could it be that she had- she- she was only 17, after all, how could one die at that age? You knew many answers to that question, but you wouldn't dare to think one.

You passed the home.

Only graves were here and your mind was a mess.

Reading the names, you began to recognize them - this was why you had known the address, because you had been here before.

These were the graves of your ancestors, old and weathered, and then one that could've have been older than a year -

'Oiseauette', it read.

No. No, this couldn't be, no, it wasn't possible. Not her.

1900-1917, said the date below. You were right - the grave was indeed no older than a year.

Tears were streaming. If anyone was to die in your family, it should've been you. You, with your broken heart, broken hands and broken mind, you, who had risked Death and buried yourself in it every day for four hellish years. You, who had willingly inflicted it on many an Entente enemy. You, too old to continue a family line. There was no point to you anymore. But...

Not her. She had no reason to go, and a long life ahead of her. She hadn't done anything, and hadn't achieved her purpose. How? How could this have been? It wasn't possible - well, it was, but- she was careful of the Spanish Flu, you had warned her to be in one of the letters you were making wet with teardrops now. Tuberculosis? A rogue German who had made it his mission, perhaps, to track down the man who killed his father, only to settle on his daughter in a sick travesty of poetic justice?

You would kill that son of a b-

... calm. You didn't know how yet. You could bet on it being what you wanted, but that didn't make it true.

For now, there was grieving. For always, there would be grieving.

Whatever it was, you would find out. Whatever it was, had it not been for those damned imperialists in the East, you would've been there to save her from it, or at least comfort her as she slipped away.

As she slipped away... the images running through your head of her light dampened and finally shutting off for the final time in a deathbed, calling your name while you could not come...

The tears were more then streaming now.

Later that day, you would fall asleep next to her grave, only to be told in the morning by the groundskeeper that while she had died, her body had gone missing. You had been weeping above an empty coffin. How... why...? Now not only was your one light of your life gone, but she was not even resting. Why would someone do this? It had to be a sick enemy soldier. It had to have been murder, you just could feel it in rage, and you would find whoever did it-

April 21, 1917.

Perspective change.

The war had gone on for a long time now. Well. Some had gone on for longer than 3 years, you knew - God, you hoped this would not last for decades like some, for that would only send half the continent to their graves.

This of course, meant that you had absolutely nobody around to care about you. Your father had left in the first week to serve France; and you were left to care for your admittedly small house for an indeterminate amount of time, and having no friends and no family did take a toll on a person, inevitably.

You looked at your hands for a moment, the soft hands of a maiden used to doing nothing but daintily opening doors and baking bread.

You were... okay... with this life. At least that was what you told yourself, and told your father.

But there was longing. Longing for more, to be someone. Obviously you could not serve your army, or really do anything in politics. Hell, you couldn't get a job or a bank account without permission from the husband you didn't have.

So this was all you had. Sometimes you knew women went into science, but you were not quite interested in leaving your youth to waste away in front of textbooks and flasks to be someone later. You wanted to be someone now.

Selfish and impatient, weren't you? Hmph. Guess the lessons your father taught you on humility wore off quick, didn't they... this was the world you were in, you had to deal with it.

That didn't mean you could go about town, though. After freshening up and finding a dress that didn't look entirely dusty, you opened the door to your home to a feeling of sudden... discomfort.

You didn't claim to be psychic, of course, but the fact was you had been excited exactly 4 seconds ago to talk to anyone in Bordeaux willing to talk to you, and now you felt as if something was impending. Perhaps not something overtly negative, but certainly something triggering a flight or fight response - in which you would inevitably choose the first option, because you did not in fact train for fisticuffs ever.

Tentatively, you took a step out of your home and-

- were immediately tackled to the ground by someone who had obviously been very quiet sneaking up to your home. This was obviously not good, as anyone pouncing on you would've been annoying at best and lifethreatening at most, and unfortunately the quietness of your apparent attacker did lean towards the latter. At least your head hit the soft, just-rained-on grass instead of the rocky path that your shoulderblades had, and thus you did not have a concussion.

"Get- off me," you yelled. "It is very- very unbecoming to just- leap on a young lady outside her home! What is your purpose here? To rob me? I am afraid I do not have much on account of the Great War, if you hadn't known that was going on!"

"..."

Shnnnng.

The sound of a knife unfurling out of a pocket was probably what gave you the second most terror you'd experienced in your life, right after hearing that the Kaiser had very randomly and suddenly attacked France.

There was also no response to your indignation with this unscrupulous attack, which was somewhat alarming.

The blade went for your shoulder first, which narrowly missed as you managed to squirm to the side in time. It sunk into the grass and wet dirt with a squelch, and was pulled out after a second of effort.

"I- look, we can talk about this, whatever I've done to anger you by sitting in my house somehow, I can remedy it- give you free bread loaves for life after the war is over and ingredients are more common again?" you offered, progressively getting a bit more worried over how long your life was going to last every second.

"Nein," said the man- no, actually, getting a look at your black haired, toned attacked, he couldn't have been older than you, actually.

Boy or man, he was German. Needless to say this was a fairly bad thing and oh- oh that was fast, his knife was at your neck while you were head-monologuing.

"Wait, at least for a moment," you said, very- very much holding back tears now. "Can't- can't a lady at least know why she's dying?"

"..."

The blade loosened and raised a bit. It bought you time to think of something to do, but unfortunately you couldn't. That was when you learned he also apparently knew how to speak French.

"... I suppose it is not right to not let you know why this has become your fate," said the boy in a heavy accent. "Your father has killed my father. I got the letter last month and found out soon after who was responsible. In response for taking my hero from me, I am taking who I assume to be his light from him."

Oh. That was. Well, actually, you kind of saw that as fairly justified and sort of poetic, but still, you weren't going to be another side character that died to progress the plot of the play right now.

"Okay okay," you stated. "I- I understand but wait. Can we please just- talk? I-"

The fear was now actually setting in, from raw panic to a realization you were very likely to die now. It was now fairly hard to not cry.

"-I really, I really don't want to die."

Apparently, he did not think of the possibility of you begging on his month trip behind enemy lines from assumedly, Germany, to the west coast of France. He pulled back the knife a bit further, gently brushed one of your tears aside, and fell silent for a moment.

"I must," he said solemnly.

"No! No, you really don't," You insisted. "I mean, what would your father think of you killing in response to killing?"

"He would think of it as a glorious avengement," he said simply.

You sort of shut up at that and blinked your eyes a few times. That wasn't exactly the response you thought you'd get.

"... he would?"

"Yes. Did you think I would come all the way out here thinking he might not want this? It was practically in his will."

"Oh."

And then, after a few moments, you both... laughed. Somehow, humor had made it's way into attempted murder. And probably saved your life.

"... very well. I will spare you, for now, but only because you are funny and your voice is sweet and you are very pretty," he spoke after a moment. "But that does not mean I do not hold animosity for your father or even have stopped disliking you."

Well, great. The fact you didn't at least look like an almost destitute peasant girl was your saving grace. You didn't like that the fact you were unblemished and had pretty eyes was making you not dead at the moment, but at least you were- well. Not dead.

"But I will take your offer," he said, grinning but also seemingly 100% serious.

"What- what offer?"

"The bread."

Aw, damn it, now you were stuck baking bread for some random guy via a promise for life.

"Oh!! Yeah!! Okay, sure, well, if you can, uh, just- kindly crawl off my bosom I can start at least one for you right now if you promise to throw the knife away-!"

Again, you didn't exactly want to bake for your would be murderer, much less your vengeful German would be murderer of similar age to you, but making some dough rise sounded better than having a knife jammed in your chest.

"... apologies, very well," he said softly, apparently blushing.

Hey! You made him nervous! And embarrassed! You could do that! You did that! That was something! Maybe- maybe he also had no friends, that was a vulnerability you could use, right? Maybe he didn't even have a girlfriend!

Although... well, looking at him, he definitely didn't look like someone who would be single...

Nope! No! No way! You were not falling for your would be murderer!

November 24, 1917

Unfortunately, you undoubtedly fell for your would be murderer.

His name was Arlo, and funnily enough he seemed to abandon the whole vengeance thing - you understood that death and grief made people do things in the moment, and while a month's worth of time was not a moment, you were still wary of letting him near any could-be weapons, but it had been months now and you both had calmed down.

After tentatively trading any weaponry or armor he had on him in exchange for a roof over his head, he had decided to stay. On all fronts, this was wrong, sure, but eventually your father would be back... hopefully, and he'd have to leave.

Or that was the thought process, anyways. See; there was a problem both of you realized you shared over time - you were both victims of sedentary lifestyles you no longer wanted to live, in part because of your parents.

Arlo's parents had grown him to be a proud eventual killing machine of a soldier, which he tried to be and was good at but didn't actually want to be, deep inside.

Your parent(s) had grown you to be a proud, if somewhat subservient, lady and baker, which you tried to be and was good at but didn't actually want to be, deep inside.

You had a lot in common like that, and as the fighting drew to a close, so did the mutual dislike between the two of you based on the nationality you both were.

And slowly, you realized your father returning was a problem, not a solution. You wanted Arlo to stay, you had both helped each other so much, and yet your father fresh with German blood on his hands, would not shy away from felling another, and force you to give up your dreams of exploration and being someone forever more.

You loved both of them. But, in a twist of fate, the one who nearly killed you was more understanding, more calm, and more willing to listen to you.

... so it was time to leave. You hatched a plan to flee to America - you had heard it was fair there, and many were going, so a German and French couple wouldn't be unheard of- but it left the issue of your father.

Arlo suggested that the two of you fake your death, which, out of any other options, you hesitantly agreed to. You knew your father would cry, and you wanted to disappear, not make him worse than the war did while disappearing, but... Arlo assured that once the both of you were safe and secure with a life of your own, you could go back and explain everything. That made the thought stress you a little less, at least.

So that following day, you died.

Not really died, of course; but Arlo fake-killed you in view of others down in the streets of the city, then stole the 'body' away.

You boarded a train, then a boat soon after, using the name 'Zoe' - not such a different name than your own - and Arlo using the name 'Archie' - a similar name as well.

And you promised, one day, you would return, and explain it all. But the situation was still too hot, your father still a soldier and not yet a veteran.

There were things better made for yourself now. Possibly you were selfish for this, but for the love of God you weren't going to open a bakery, you were going to do someone that would make people know you. And Pa... he wouldn't approve of such dreams. When you made it, when you could be who you were meant to, then would be the time to reveal yourself again.

Alternate Ending TWO- "Too Many Bridges". Both two and three are significantly smaller due to time limitations and the fact that i like ONE the best, but all endings can be canon.

- why dear me, wasn't that odd. A strange streak of blue, like a painting but across your perception of reality, zig zagged itself a short distance away right where the exit to your farm was.

Almost like a... what was the word? A portal, yes. It looked like a portal, and it was... well, it had an allure to it, to be simple.

You stepped outside, your heels clacking on the steps, and hesitantly approached it. Could this kill you? Maybe. But it felt like a... benevolent portal, if that was an adjective that could be applied to a portal.

So you reached in. Your hand disappeared in it. Then you pulled out, and it reappeared. The deep and light blues swirled in the almost gel like floating rift, rippling like a gel at your touch and shifting around like a night sky's stars over time.

You thought about this for a while, sitting in front of the odd, supernatural looking... thing for a good half an hour. On one hand, while your hand came back fine, your whole body- that could be risky.

One could simply ignore it. It was the easy option and would clearly give you an out from any danger. But. Things happen for a reason, right? And this came to your home. You, who had longed for something interesting to happen for so long, to be more than a lady.

After thinking for a bit longer, you decided.

You just had to see what was in there. And without another thought, you leapt...

and landed somewhere else. On a white tile floor, it seemed, illuminated by long winded lights that- looked like some too bright version of lightbulbs, but flat.

"Oh great, another," said someone wearing what looked to be a scientist's outfit. He had an American accent and seemed tired and unenthused.

You coughed and slowly rose to your feet, dusting off your dress - how rude of them to not help! - and looked them in the eye. They were wearing such odd glasses.

"... where am I? This is an odd area."

"Okay, ma'am, when were you born?"

"You didn't answer my question."

"And I will, right after I mark you as someone lost..."

"Huh?"

"It doesn't matter, please answer."

"1900."

"... Dr. Andrews, have you noticed each arrival seems to come from a different period?"

Another, decidedly more British scientist nodded. "I have, yes. At least this one speaks English and is calm about this."

"Hm? I don't speak Eng-..."

It occurred to you you were no longer speaking French.

"... oh, my... how am I...?" you muttered.

"And your name, ma'am?"

"Oiseauette, um, born in Bordeaux if you want that..."

"And what's the year?" they questioned, a brief smirk on their face, as if they knew something you didn't.

"19... 1917?"

"Bombshell, honey, coming in a few seconds," said the American. He took a deep breath to say something else while you instinctually ducked down and covered your head.

"She just said she's living through the First World War, John, poor choice of words."

"... oh, yeah."

'John' tapped your shoulder and you uncovered your ears.

"I meant in the metaphorical way. Sorry."

You rose again, laughing. "O-Oh! Right! That's- that- yeah. Okay."

"Anyways it's 2023."

"What?" you said, positively flabbergasted. "You know what? I'm going back. I wanted something more, but not this much more."

You turned around and-

No portal. You hit the wall. Rubbed it gently. Threw yourself at it. Boy, you were making a fool of yourself in front of these two scientists, weren't you. But it was only padded white cushion.

"... that tends to happen," said Dr. Andrews. "We're working on getting people back if they want to. For now, go with John. He'll introduce you to a few crucial modern devices and lifestyle changes, plus a few of the others."

You weren't sure whether to be happy or cry. You just left your life- possibly forever. But you were here now. You had to keep going, there was no way back for now.

Eventually - after realizing you were not the only one here from odd periods of time -, you were shown to a room where another unkempt girl wearing an odd fabric - John stated it was called a hoodie - pondered what looked like a board game with great interest.

"So in the original timeline, before all this, she," John said, pointing to her. "Was from, like, 43 thousand before Jesus or something in modern Kazahkstan. And was buried with like, 2 thousand goat knuckles or something. Dice, she was buried with that era's dice."

She was a cavegirl? Sophisticated cavegirl by the looks of it.

"Surprisingly, she's integrated well, as you can see, and has pretty much stated she wanted to stay here. Probably because she doesn't die in her teens now and she can actually collect more entertainment."

A fair goal, you realized.

"I bring you to her because you... give me a vibe like you two will get along well, somehow. You're both out of your element and somehow so in it. Both way out of time but... somehow, you seem like you'd fit in here. And while we prepare the electronic showcasing room the Qing emperor destroyed about 5 hours ago again, you'll need company. Anyways, are you thinking about staying or going back?"

"If we can bring my father here... well..." you trailed off. "We'll see. Thank you for your help, Doctor."

You approached the girl, who looked up and half-waved, perhaps still learning manuevers that even you, as someone from 1917 found basic.

"Hello," you said softly, "What are you doing?"

"Hrgh," she grumbled. "... trying... trying to-"

She wasn't used to speaking specific words, you could tell; but luckily the temporal paradox must've given you all multilingual knowledge, at least.

"Trying to... figure out this," she said. "Similar to old life. This is called- called, uh,"

You read the cover of the book for her.

"Dungeons and Dragons?"

"Yes."

"... can we figure it out together, perhaps?"

- heard a gun click. Which was alarming, and you near jumped out of your skin. Rather instead, you jumped directly onto the rocks leading out of your house, leading to a bloody nose.

"Oo," said a feminine voice with a British accent, though she spoke French. "Didn't mean for that, dearest. Sorry."

"What- what was that for? Who are you?" you questioned, trying to stay calm despite the pistol in her hand and the fact you were on the ground already.

"I can't tell you my name, for now, but if I may ask a question- the townsfolk say you long for something more. To be someone, or even more, have an influence on local politics, which you can't have here in France. Is that true?"

"And why should I tell you?" you said, eyes narrowed. You were trying to be ladylike and casual, but the fact she had nearly made you inadvertently bash your own head on your own front porch steps had made you mildly angry, to say the least.

She frowned a bit, pondering her actions, then reached out a hand to help you get up.

"Because I can offer that chance, simply put," she said with a smile. "You'd have to give up anything here. Even appear dead."

"Then no! That'd- my father, returning from war- it'd destroy him."

"If he knew, you would entertain the idea?"

"... yes, I would," you said with a sigh. Admitting that didn't seem like a good idea, but she was certainly not your average lady, it seemed like. For one she was holding a gun. That was sort of a hallmark of 'not a regular girl'.

"Then we will tell him. Eventually."

"Who's we?"

"... You really would make a great one of us. Already asking the right questions and getting every detail."

"A great one of who? Cut the mystique for a moment, please?!"

"Alright, alright, very well, I'm sorry. I'm just trying to be fun."

You waited for an answer.

Then waited some more.

She smiled.

"TELL ME," you said, rolling your eyes, and finally the playful Brit did.

"I'm talking about MI5. We need foreign officers who don't always look British. And the Americans don't even have a subversive office, so on occasion, they need protection as well.

You come from a military family and have the local rumours of wanting to do more in a man's world. Seemed obvious to me. You're 17, so you wouldn't be running specifically too too dangerous missions, but if you take this opportunity, you'd be showing up my superiors who doubt you will.

And trust me, lady, you'd really want to show them up if you were me. So pleeaaaaaase."

"... you want me to be a spy?"

"That's what I'm saying, yes."

You thought it over. If Franz Ferdinand hadn't been assassinated, if someone could've known and been there- or if France had been prepared for an attack - the list went on and on, stretching further back into history.

"... and my father will know eventually? That I'm not dead?" you asked.

"Not for the first year while you undergo training and make sure you're right for the job. It's sad that he'll be sad, I know. But he will! And if he goes too far off the edge in grief- we'll know and let him know earlier. We're spies. We know things, in case you couldn't already tell."

"..."

You thought.

And thought again.

Before three words fled from your lips.

"Yes. Take me."

I haven't played any gen 8 games because I don't have a Switch, so I'm not versed in anything SW/SH/don't have a particular attraction to most gen 8 mons.

I wasn't raised with LGBTQA+ stuff, though I knew of being Gay/Lesbian and thought I was Lesbian because I didn't know about Asexuality until I was an adult!

(Never acted on it, so I haven't really found what I like other than being Ace!)

Though I have also learned you can be Ace, but still want to be with someone, you can still be Bi, straight, gay, lesbian, pan, poly etc...Romantic and sexual love are two different things!

So I'm Ace sexually, but may be Bi or Lesbian romantically, if that makes a lick of sense!

So pardon me if I'm a little old fashioned with some things/misgender stuff.

I'm good with the sexuality stuff for the most part, but most other things make my head spin!

Also, I CAN get aggressive, so if I "roar in your face", I usually mean no harm/don't take it personally!

I have trouble wording things, and have less of a filter when tired as well.

Deconstructing Baseless Harry Potter Arguments#2 (i) : Harmione Edition

Obviously I once again do not mean to target all Harmione shippers. I know quite a few who're very good human beings and tolerant and accepting above all. However these aren't. In this case, you might sense quite a bit of levelheadedness in the beginning, however you must not be fooled as it goes south and takes a nasty turn very quickly. Don't get your hopes up, this is some of the worst shit I've ever seen, especially the way in which it progresses through its course. Naturally, for this post I have picked my own style of writing which will match that of those redditors. Reddit is the perfect breeding ground for all these weird cults, honestly. I shall be resorting to a formal language and style of conversation, very much like a debater would to sound as pretentious as these do. These posts are found on the instagram handle toxicharmonyshippers who gather such toxic musings and sayings for Harmione shippers while respecting the ones that are nice.

Oh yes, let's use words like 'vehemently' to sound smart, why not? Of course, this little tidbit of the highly stupendous post seems more or less civil at the start. They also have the common decency to say "some Romione shippers" rather than generalizing all of us. Very nice of you, how very saint like. Let's wait till they drop the act and show us their true colors. Harkening back to the argument, I have but one question for you, "where do you find these people?". Where's the proof? Who are these radical Romione shippers who worship Ron and dislike Hermione? I haven't seen any such shippers and I am surrounded by Romione shippers on tumblr, instagram and fan fiction sites as well and haven't met the people you speak of. Some point out her flaws, yes, but no one hates her or dislikes her that much. I have seen two or three Romione shippers across hundreds and thousands who're skeptical of Hermione's perfection. you can, through these, see the amount of Hermione bashing across Harry Potter fanfiction and you can see that even in Romione fanfiction there's more Ron bashing. Hermione-bashing is a non-issue. That's what it is. Regarding the "nagging" statement, where's the lie in that? "Annoying" is somewhat subjective, I personally don't find her annoying at all. Who are these people and how often do you find them? "Mary Sue" is only reserved for Movie!Hermione. I have only seen book fans call her that. No one has ever called Book!Hermione Mary Sue. The movie does paint her as a flawless, all-rounder who's also drop-dead gorgeous. Only things she's bad at are flying and divination, all of which she denounces as useless, even though flying is like biking for wizards, divination, sure, not that important. with a teacher like Trelawney, even I would denounce it as hokum.

Remember what I said about waiting for them to show us their true colors, well here they are. Bask in the glory of their senseless arguments. Why, I am from reddit, heck I have 25 thousand karma points on there, I just left because it was too stupid for me but I can argue like them very well. And in this case I would like to say that these people are under the impression that Ron is just there in the story for the sake of existence. And he doesn't work hard. That argument is of course, wrong. Because Ron (in no particular order):

1) fights a troll when he's 11

2) is willing to sacrifice himself when he's 11

3) stands up for his friends

4) makes sure Harry feels like he belongs in the family

5) worries about Harry and rescues him from literal jail

6) stands up against Draco rather than by-standing and enabling his behavior

7) tries his level best to make sure Norbert the dragon is in safe hands and carries it out, albeit not in perfection

8) is with Harry every step of the way in his confronting the basilisk

9) sends Harry and Hermione long letters and calls them often to check up on them

10) stands up on a bitten leg to defend his best friend

11) always apologizes for any of his mistakes and is forgiving when others wrong him

12) works his way to join the Quidditch team unlike Draco who most certainly bought his way in

13) destroys at least 2 horcruxes

14) finds out how to defeat a horcrux

15) has an excellent enough memory and observation to notice Harry speaking parseltongue and also using it to his benefit which proves he's resourceful

now since I have 8 more such pictures to rebut and I do have a life, I will stop. These aren't even a twelfth of the remarkable things Ron has done though, so rest assured.

oh wait what did you say about him just existing and not working for anything? If I recall correctly, he did just as well as Harry did in school and didn't score well only in subjects he didn't care about. Which is true for most people except for Hermione who has an eidetic memory which not everyone has, understandably. Rote memorization is not the best way to get by in life, by the way.

what are the "so many reasons" behind why Harry is the best fit for Hermione? Kindly share so I can rebut those too, I'm rather free nowadays, my finals have been cancelled. You say there are so many reasons but don't even give one, yet you want me to take you seriously. I'm afraid that's impossible.

Romione shipper here, i don't dislike Hermione. I haven't met or seen many people in the book!romione fandom who dislike Hermione (except for Movie!Hermione). The question of someone you like ending up with someone you dislike doesn't particularly make sense. In Friends, Chandler ends up with Monica: now I'm not the biggest Monica fan (I don't hate her but I don't like her very much either) but they are my favorite couple because they make sense. It's about compatibility and character traits, not liking or disliking because that's just a set-up for a ghastly invitation for people to pair up hideousness. "Oh yeah, I like Harry and I also like Hagrid, they should be together. I mean it would be very very disgusting but that's my logic, now, you can't fight it. "- that's how you sound. Please read what you write. Your logic is just...abysmal. That's all I can say without breaking my resolve and berating you with colorful profanities.

This is without the doubt, the easiest one to rebut. It's a delight to see such terrible arguments at my disposal. Come on, dear Harmione shippers, write something that makes me question my choices, not things that make me scoff in disbelief.

In this case, you're essentially providing us with theories. Unproved theories and speculation of what you believe because you'd say anything you like. Where's the proof of your theory, though? Where is that crazy radical Romione shipper who does this? Kindly show me these people. Oh yes, you wanna say we objectify Hermione and disrespect her and view her as a prize. This aches me, that you believe this. No one has ever insinuated this, ever, in the history of anything. What is this winner-loser theory? How do you round off Harry Potter to "an alpha-male ends up with lead-lady" trope and still say you're a fan of the series? Harry Potter doesn't fit in with that format. Ron, Hermione and Harry are co-heroes. Similar to how there's no main character in Friends or the Heroes of Olympus series or the Avengers. We're not living in the 80s anymore. Hermione will be a hero, invariably whether she ends up with Harry, Ron or no one. She ends up with Ron and that's it. Talking about her like this doesn't make you sound any better either. Now you're calling me a misogynist because I don't support the ship of two people who describe themselves as siblings. That's very mature of you. Well here's the thing- I'm not a misogynist. It's as simple as that. I believe that women are capable of anything and everything. I believe Hermione is an amazing person and she is a hero and a different person. I believe the series would be impossible without her. I believe she is no one's prize. There's no requirement of a prize. I just think, similar to canon and the truth and her romantic interest, she will have a great relationship with Ron. There's nothing complex or deep about it, really. No personal weird-thing, no psychological complex, no internalized misogyny. There's nothing deeper than what I said. I am not sexist. I am a feminist. I am all for women empowerment. I love women with the fabric of my being. I love Hermione. I think she's amazing. You only become sexist when you ship people with unstable power dynamics, a bully-victim relation or something of the sort. Neither Romione, nor Harmione are sexist. Heck if you paired Neville with Hermione you wouldn't be sexist. And I hate talking about this so much, I can't even tell you. This talk does make it sound like I treat Hermione like an object and I assure you I respect her and I normally won't talk like this unless someone just outright calls me sexist for something that's not sexist. And this is that situation.

in the case of Romione, no one is too good for anyone. Both are amazing people who're heroes and have done amazing work. That's all I have to say. There's no league, they are romantically interested in each other. I have no intention on sounding lame, but, in love there is no league. As long as you're not putting in any effort and are extremely lazy and leech off of your partner, there is no such concept and no, Hermione is not "too good" for him. Unless of course you're talking about movie Hermione, who is too good for anyone.

1) fights a troll when he's 11

2) is willing to sacrifice himself when he's 11

3) stands up for his friends

4) makes sure Harry feels like he belongs in the family

6) stands up against Draco rather than by-standing and enabling his behavior

9) sends Harry and Hermione long letters and calls them often to check up on them

10) stands up on a bitten leg to defend his best friend

11) always apologizes for any of his mistakes and is forgiving when others wrong him

12) works his way to join the Quidditch team unlike Draco who most certainly bought his way in

13) destroys at least 2 horcruxes

14) finds out how to defeat a horcrux

15) has an excellent enough memory and observation to notice Harry speaking parseltongue and also using it to his benefit which proves he's resourceful

hey, see, I like Ron and I took the time to copy-paste this instead of asking you to scroll up. And I'm a lot of bad things but I am not lazy. I stick to my deadlines like Hermione. I start my homework in library class and continue it during phys ed the day its given. And I am not exaggerating. Bloody hell, I wish I was. I'm the ceo of deadlines, mate, don't tempt me! So you can see that Ron is much more than just a "nice bloke". And being a "nice bloke" isn't a bad thing either. He's all the things I said: intuitive, strategic, helpful, loyal and on top of that he's also a nice person. Yes, I do see a bit of myself in Ron. I do. I see the insecure side. I waste my time hating myself and criticizing myself and undermining myself, telling me I'm no good. But Ron overcomes that. He inspires me to appreciate myself. Is that a bad thing? Are you going to shame me for having a low self-esteem? Do you want to worsen my low self-esteem and make me feel more like shit?

Now the person who replied to your comment saying, "he isn't a nice bloke most of time.", he is. He is not being nice twice in a span of 7 years. How often do you act rudely or with jealousy? Wasn't Harry yelling at everyone in caps lock in OOTP. Now I don't condemn him for that because he's a fucking hormonal teenager like me and that would make me a hypocrite, but by your logic why don't you condemn him? Or why not condemn Hermione for saying "I only date good Quidditch players" and shoving canaries at Ron's face because someone else kissed him, while she kept using Krum and Cormac to make him jealous. She wasn't being a nice girl, then, was she? Now, once again, i don't dislike her or hold that against her because guess what, mate, I'm a hormonal teenage girl who gets jealous most of the time and would probably react in a similar fashion in the spur of the moment (Not defending her actions here, just putting myself in her shoes.) In short, Ron is a nice bloke MOST OF THE TIME.

being relaxed doesn't make you less independent or driven. A relaxed and levelheaded Hermione will think through things, not be impulsive, not panic etc. She doesn't need Ron. I don't understand your obsession with acting like we ever insinuated that. Then she doesn't need Harry either lol. Stop shipping her with Harry, then or like shut the fuck up. Being a bit relaxed won't stop her or anyone from hitting great strides. Just don't get relaxed to the point you're lazy and casual about everything, that's it.

What do you mean? Ron is balanced. He does finish his work on time. And even if he does procrastinate, she could also help him not and be more driven. Of course, this is an open invitation for you to call me a sexist bitch because I said that she could help him and now you'll think her goal is to help him become better yada yada yada. Fuck off. No i do not want (nor does anyone want) Hermione to become Ron. Being slightly calmer doesn't change up your personality. I'm sure many people dislike those sort of fanfics without a doubt. My personal Pros and Cons of my ADHD

Pros

-noticing all the little details and appreciating them in the fullest

-Emotional Dysregulation, because when I get a new plant, or find that one oddly shaped metal marble I lost a while ago, I am so excited it’s pathetic, but I love that feeling of pure joy.

-hyperfixation of the week/day/hour (i know some people describe it differently, let me be pls) . I usually switch between art mediums, and/or a few video games/social media sites. for example, I’ve been on tumblr for 3 hours as i write this, after not touching it for, i think a month?

-nuerodivergent friends. They’re just better.

-the ability to completely drown myself in information to ignore reality. Is it healthy? no. But i simply cannot handle another existiential crissi rn, so i will instead play minecraft while listening to alt rock playlists on youtube because getting spotify sounds like a lot of work.

-my ability to retain absolutely useless information, from either my, or my other nuerodivergent friends hyperfixations/special interests. I can explain to you in terrible formatting if it’s out loud, the evolution, history, training, anatomy and roles of the horse in our world, and how ao3 works, and what makes or breaks a fanfiction.

-Object Impermanence. When i literally hide myself a treat or surprise and forget about it, then get so excited when i do find/discover it again. I hide google questions, and/or song lyrics in my tabs :) its so fun. Also, hiding away stressors. Again, healthy? no, but i don’t feel like having anxiety all day, so whatever.

-Emotional Dysregulation, again. I can switch from sad or angry to happy and excited/content in a few seconds. It’s also great for getting my siblings out of their funk. ex., my sister is mad at me. I make a silly voice repeating what she said or cross my eyes at her. she laughs, then we can talk and have constructive conversation about why she shouldn’t get that upset about me “cutting off her reading time” when we share a room and I want to sleep, and know that she will be very tired tomorrow if she doesn’t also go to sleep. (We have this conversation almost every single night, i’m not even joking)

Cons

-Emotional Dysregulation. When i get upset, I’m Upset. Like, big time, ruining friendships and familial ties if i let it get out of hand, Upset. Yeah.

-Time Blindness. Constantly late, or early, or under or over estimating the amount of time it takes to do a thing, not eating til 4 because you forgot but you also should just wait til dinner, but now its 9 and I still haven’t eaten-

-Executive Dysfunction. I can’t do the things needed to function. Don’t have the mental energy to explain this one, so google it i guess? There’s a whole checklist of things you need to be able to do to function, and i can do like, three on a good day.

-Sleeping Trouble. People with adhd have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, and waking up. So, sleeping trouble. So I’m constantly tired.

-Internal Clock is SLIGHTLY OFF. Nuerotypicals have that normal sleep schedule. Adhd ers have it shifted forward by, i think, 2, 3 hours. So we go to sleep later, and wake up later, and that’s the only way to get a healthy amount of sleep. My entire family also eats dinner super late, which might be because we’re weird, but I suspect the inner clock thing cuz we all got adhd.

-Object Impermanance. I hid my math homework one time. I failed that class. 

-Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. Never trying, or starting cuz I’m so terrified to get a bad reaction. Constantly masking around certain people to appeal to the few of my Nuerotypical friends. Or, y’know, majority of my extended family. They’re ableist. and homophobic. And transphobic. And racist. and sexist. The list goes on, but, yeah. Never coming out to them! :D

-Masking. It’s exhausting and I can only handle so much of it.

-Not Masking around nuerotypicals. The shoot down after finally revealing my true thoughts, urges, feelings, stims, etc. just sucks. Super disheartening. 

-Squirrel or shiny jokes when they’re made by people without adhd. Yes, I do get distracted by squirrels, and shiny things, and dice. Stop pointing it out, and/or putting me into yet another box of your labeling. 

-saying that I’m lazy, worthless, or a disaster when really it’s not helping. I already have that internal monologue, you adding to it and giving it some truth/extra ammunition is not. helping.

-Emotional Dysregulation. Again, because mood swings. like, I’m trying to be rightfully angry with you. Stop making me laugh with you’re silly faces or pointing out of a weird face someone made in a picture you took. 

-the stigma about the hyperactive subtype. I’m inattentive. I have No Energy. Ever. Sometimes i have restlessness, but there is still no energy. Stop portraying me as bouncing off the walls, especially with caffeine. Caffeine just catches my body speed up to my brain speed, settling me down a bit, at least mentally. 

-people not getting when i say I’m overstimulated, or need some time alone to process or re-energize, and following me, or continuing to do the overstimulating thing. I will literally. lose. my. mind.

-when people shut me down after I share something that is really important to me, or make fun of me for liking something an “abnormal” amount. Flashbacks to overnight camp, when whenever I said anything about horses, they said I had to do five squats, and when i got really excited about discussing the differences in riding styles/types with another person who really liked horses, but rode english, they said that it was obnoxious, when i was just.. excited to finally find someone to talk to and who felt the same way after, basically, years and years of no one getting it or wanting to listen or talking with me about the thing. To this day I don’t discuss horses with anyone, cuz it hurts so much remembering that, and the fear of it happening again is still there. 

-seeing other people be ashamed about their adhd and hesitant to mention until i talk, like, super openly about having it, in like, the first 5 minutes of knowing each other. It just.. hurts.

-I’m super empathetic, not in a way that’s helpful though. Like, wincing, or limping myself because I saw you drop something on your foot, and am imagining it so vividly that it feels like it happened to me. Reading a fic about abuse or depression, and it hitting too hard and hurting me almost physically, and on a personal level because I simply cannot handle it. Feeling someone else’s pain so vividly that i can’t comfort or help them in any way, because I am so preoccupied with  feeling their pain. 

-never being able to finish things without starting something else. All the WIPs in my google docs, istg, i will be driven insane by it. 

(y’know, this was kinda fun. As a rant, but also as a way for me to identify things about myself and my adhd that i like. Like, I know its so much shorter, but I have a hard time with positive self affirmation, so it was kinda nice. I might do it again, but just the pros part cuz the cons are kinda depressing ngl.)

4. What made you start a gaining tumblr?

I started my blog somewhere around February or January of the year 2020, before the whole Pandemic started. It was mostly there to lurk around and follow blogs that I liked their content of. I had an account before but I neglected it for the most part until I closed it down. Now let’s jump towards the summer of 2020, the lockdown full in progress.

It was a mix of being in a lockdown and my search for social activity on the internet that wasn’t necessarily my bubble of friends or interests but also my deep dive into the whole fetish scene outside of a couple other sites that I was frequently on.

The more engagement I did, the more it became a thing that I was excited to share and soon it became a blog that a lot of you people started to like, dm me every day and just looked for a good conversation and that stuck to me the most, all the people who had a very positive effect on me so I decided to stay after what I started!

5. Tumblr crushes?

I reeeally don’t like to play favorites here, I do have a lot of crushes tho and if I were to start to list them, it might happend that I forgot about someone and that wouldn’t be really far, now would it? But people know who I have a crush on because I do comment on their blogs and notes so I will keep it that way. <3

8. What did you think about your “urges” before you discovered that gaining was a thing (we’ve all been there)

Hmm, to me feedism is a very cerebral experience. I’m a diagnosed autist and one of the many things that I discovered about myself is that my overworked brain doesn’t really allow me to have these urges or have reactions to things that might help create an addiction from it, I think both things are kinda aligned with each other because you create a sort of space for you to feel dependant of it if that makes sense. I can turn on my urges on and off like a switch. I can go full on horny and can turn it off in the act and leave my partner hanging. It’s a weird thing to explain but because my brain is so efficient at visualizing I don’t need a trigger to get horny if that makes sense! Brains are crazy!

9. What do you like most about this community?

I love how this space that I created for myself became a space of acceptance and curiosity, comfort and support. People have repeatedly expressed to me that they love that they are met here with patience, respect and openess for their interests as well as well informed opionion pieces on the feedism culture as well.

When they come here, they feel safe and accepted and so do I - and it is my duty and privilege to share that with everyone one of you!

14. How long have you been actively gaining?

I’ve been gaining for the last 8 years! It was a steady climb but it kinda picked up around the time I got into lockdown and by the generous support of some of my followers!

18. What is your goal in gaining (physically)?

As large as I still feel relatively comfortable (and maybe a bit more when I get into a dedicated relationship, that’s what my heart really wants <3) I can’t say what number that might be but we are talking a very hefty ssbhm size if that is any pointer. ;)

24. Eating while fucking (or being fucked)? 

Oh. OH. OH ABSOLUTELY, SIR. Nothing get’s me going better then getting teased to be ridden and have food in my mouth. NOTHING. Best FOREPLAY ever!

32. Your most intense fantasy gaining wise? Would you like to go for it IRL?

That would be probably the short story that I wrote, it’s called “Hyperfocus” and I really, REALLY want to try it out. I have very sharp and strong senses and I need them to dial down a bit. Stuffing is one way to shortcircuit my brain!

33. What is something you think you did right when it comes to your gaining lifestyle?

My experience as a chef and interest to research helped me create a gaining plan that is not so hard on my body. I do snack a lot, that’s true but all my food that I eat on the regular, even the gaining one, is healthy. I cook for myself. I probably have maybe take out 3 times a month, even less sometimes because I’d rather prep it on my own. It’s cheaper, more efficient and by far the healthies method to gain. You are already impacting your body and health, as well as your mood and mind so you need to take proper pre-cautions into gaining in my opinion. Now some people enjoy it the other way and that is totally legit. But my very rational mind can’t feel different about it. So this is the one lifestyle choice that I feel is well thought out and I am still thankful for not having feet that hurt or burning thighs and calves as well as an aching back! (Although my shoulders ache but that’s been there for more then 8 years lol)

I would usually stay away from this since I got better stuff to do but I choose to speak up about this ongoing issue. I decided to do a bit of my own research on your @freddiemercuryonline Instagram. and I found that the photos you post, I posted them just a day or two before. Some examples:

what I'm writing now doesn't have anything to do with you personally, attention to your Instagram profile has been brought to me by this anon message, not to mention there's thousands of fan profiles on Instagram just like yours that repost not only from my blog but others too, so maybe it was time to talk more extensively about it and show my followers just how unfair it can feel when someone else is building their fan site or a fan base by stealing content and not giving credit on purpose, even when they know exactly what source to credit.

the main issue is that it doesn’t matter what you thought where I took the photos, you chose not to give my site any credit on purpose. you obviously do visit my site daily and as I can see, none of your posts taken from my site had my Tumblr as a credit. so you can't come here and pretend like you were unaware of the fact that FuckYeahMercury is the source where you take some of the photos from for your own Instagram, shamelessly, posting them the very next day. this is exactly why you (Insta accounts) take the blame, you can't even write your own caption, let alone find a good photo on your own.

to answer your question, I want to explain the whole edits thing. I don't really do 'edits' as such, this means I don't click on a random Freddie Mercury fan page, take the photo and add brightness/contrast to it. I actually take my time to research the web and find relatively uncommon or unseen pictures from photo agency sites and news websites and anytime I can, I credit the photographer. I go to great lengths to find stuff that other fans may not be able to find because I love bringing new content to the table when it comes to Freddie/Queen community. as for books, magazines, clipping and posters I scan, I cannot always give credit because most of them don't even have the photographer written in there. this is the difference between you and me, for every photo I post, I know exactly where I originally acquired it and I do my best to give credit. as I said, I don't own any of these pics, I never took them, I never met Freddie or Queen but I do my job running this blog because I love it, just to find that someone else is enjoying my fruits of labour in extensive number of likes and followers. so, ignoring to give credit on your fan page to a source you constantly take from and writing the same caption with something along the lines of "I edited this high quality image😝" is plain unjust. it's unfair to all the blogs who disappeared over the years that had really good content. I personally know fans who stopped sharing rare stuff exactly because of this attitude with reposting things.

I’d say that yours or anyone elses apology doesn't mean much to me... I don't care if I lose followers or someone asks why I'm blowing this out of proportion. I've been here for a long time and tried to accept the fact that "fans share stuff" but in so many cases unfortunately, it's not being done respectfully and some things just had to be said. so if you're a fan or have a fan page, I hope if you read this, what you take or learn from this is please - if you share stuff, just give the credit. it won't hurt you. in my mind, you can only gain respect for it ✌
