Year In Review - 2017

Bye 2017. You were weird.

To honestly describe my 2017 – uncomfortably numb – it was an emotionally challenging year. It was also one of the most eye-opening years of my 33 years around the sun. In order to appreciate the light, we must experience the dark. 2017 was a long, dark climb through an endless crevasse, hopefully 2018 leads to brightness at the peak.

Mission for the coming year, recalibrating and reconnecting, with both my mental and physical self. “Getting into the vibration, raising my self-worth to align with what I’m calling in...”

2 0 1 7  H I G H L I G H T S

• Saturday, January 21st, 2107 seems so long ago, but it truly was the best day of the year! ✊

• 2017 welcomed so many beautiful new faces into the world. Sully Hargrave, Mable Nguyen, Lennox Rose, Jasper Pohl-Abudalahi. The future looks bright.

• Unfortunately, we lost the sweetest pup on the planet this summer. Miss you Sweet Westin 💔

• Loved this book so much, I also recommend listening to the audio version. Thank you, GoodReads for keeping my digital bookshelf and motivation to read alive. Some other favorite reads: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

• Hands down my favorite podcast of 2017. Also, if you’re in or have ever been in a relationship, Where Should I Begin with Esther Perel is a MUST listen, from start to finish.

• Netflix was my solace this year: Peaky Blinders (filed under: obsessed. this scene & I was hooked), Master of None S2 (particularly the silences), Schitt’s Creek, Shameless (Binge-watched it all & fell in love with Jermy Allen White + Young Debbie + this scene), Ozark, and The Crown of course!

• Go see Lady Bird, The Big Sick, and Mudbound (Also 20th Century Women, technically a 2016 film, but it really made a mark).

• Are you following Jamie Beck?! If not, you’re missing out. Her #myprovenceeverydayobjects & #provenceselfportraitseries gave me life in 2017. Inspired to say the least.

• Dove head first into the #2017flipchallenge and launched Mudd Mugs. My mini Etsy shop where I sell rescued novelty, souvenir, and vintage mugs.

2 0 1 8 Making my “resolutions” public here, even if no one is reading, gives me a place I can come back to and remind myself of the goals. And you know, if you say it out loud you’re more likely to accomplish it.

Re-align and reconnect. (using Lacy Phillips tools)

Recognize that where I need to be is very different than where I want to be. I love my family, but I don’t want to throw my life away. 

Complete my 2018 reading challenge

Create actual stories/narratives using Insta.

Work on more personal projects and creative outlets.

Create more with my hands. 

Start sketching again.

Set new professional goals and reconnect with my work.

New profile photo (it’s been 4 years!). Learn to be more comfortable in front of the camera.

Stop wasting money & time. Stop forcing things, let it flow.

Set up a proper budget.

Invest in a workspace. More collaboration - less isolation.

Introduce myself more - less working in silence.

Finish themuddshop portfolio site.

Implement client intake process (no more intro-emails)

Better project management

Finish the LivingBetterWithLess site.

Learn to be more comfortable sharing myself on LBWL

Do something good for my body every day through physical activity.

Less red meat, more locally grown veggies.

Stop drinking.  Drink less.

Take better care of my skin & hair (more mindful of ingredients)

Live better with less ;)

Be prepared (zero-waste toolkit)

Go to the UK/Scotland/Ireland

Take Grandma to Korea

Make a home.

Pick a city and move!

Save for a tiny home.

Get a dog. IT’S TIME.

Build the world I want to live in, not the one others want for me.

Let my family go, they will be okay. Live the life I want to live.
