hmmm this one’s hard because I’m like hardcore fixating on like 7 diffrent things and like it’s jumping really hard and fast between them (LMK,PMD, Danny phantom, Stardew valley, Streamer lore, Epiphet Erased, Epic the musical, Sonic the hedgehog, and stuff my friends and I made) I’ll put the other ones here and there in parentheses, but focusing on one main one.

✨: The mONKIES LOOK AT THEM GO! The tension! The drama! The complexity of the characters! TOXIC OLD MAN YAOI! FRIENDS TO ENEMIES, TO FORCED TO WORK TOGETHER TO FRIENDS AND TO LOVERS! slooow buuuurn. and the animation is cool! More tho I reeeaallly love some of the people I’ve met with this fandom

🎥: hmmmmmmmm I can’t say I have a favorite, it’s all really well done and I’ve been spoiled on a lot of the stuff

🎶: uhhhhh sadly enough haven’t gotten that far. And haven’t paid enough attention to the music (but for hollow knight, a tie between city of tears, crystal peak and fog canyon)

💕: macaque and Redson, yeah I know I know, they are really liked a lot. But sometimes villains are just really fun. Macaque I like him because he’s a broody villian as the shadow or dark opposite of another who’s desperate to not be seen as the opposite of the other, but at the same time obsessed with the other. He’s a villian as a victim of circumstance, turned ally. Don’t get me wrong he does some messed up stuff but some of my favorite characters are genuinely insane. You have to put a lot of work of keeping them balanced between crazy but not stupid and there are soooo many way to do these things. Plus he’s smart too and it’s just really fun and shadow abilities are so cool to me. As for Red, I just really like him too, I like to analyze him like a scientist picking apart something. It’s fun!

💔: mayor I guess? I haven’t been able to get myself to watch the entire show it’s a hard thing to commit to so I don’t know about him all that much. But like at the same time him and LBD are hard to hate because everyone loves when a villain is done well. And they are done well.

🏳‍🌈 MK is Bi, the monkeys are all fruity, my mind cannot be changed.

Hi, I honestly don’t mind it too much if people share my gifs around, but if you’re doing it to farm likes on twt, upvotes on Reddit, or saves on Pinterest, the bare minimum you can do is to link/credit the gifs back to the blog.

I know a few people that have told me that my gifs are so distinguishable that they immediately know I made them, but it’s still mildly annoying to see them being posted as something to farm engagement without me knowing. These gifs take time and effort to do. The least you can do, if you want to farm engagement out of the gifs I make, is to link it back to this blog.

And honestly, serious gifmaking takes time. People say I’m “fast” but these still take an hour, hours, or sometimes days to do. It’s not just putting stuff into an app and automaking the gifs I make. There’s a reason why people say they’re super “high-quality”. It’s because I still make them via Photoshop, sharpen, edit, and color them etc etc.

I’m not here trying to make any money or asking for money with making gifs. I’m very privileged to say that I don’t need to. But I make these things out of own free time for fun, out of the love for the show and its characters— and that’s free time that I could spend doing something else.

Ever since the new year started, I’ve gotten pretty burnt out making stuff everyday (except for CaitVi and making the occasional requests from the Discord server that I love very much). I have no idea if I can still keep up with making daily gifs at this point since I’m also much busier now with irl things.

But if you wanna see more gifs being made and support me with this hobby, please do reblog, like, share with credit, or link back the gifs I make. That’s really it!

And no, spamming likes or spamming reblogs isn’t annoying! In fact, I enjoy them so much! Tumblr thrives on reblogs as well! Fandom is all about having fun and interacting with people who enjoy the same interests as you, so please don’t hesitate to reblog or like the posts!

If you’re wondering why there’s less and less of gifmakers out there, this is also one of the major reasons why people stop making things. A lot of gifmakers and especially graphic/edit makers feel like the effort they exert for the things they make is simply not worth it.

And if you have a problem with me or with my gifs, then make them yourself.

You can find so many tutorials here too! There’s so many talented people on Tumblr that have posted their gif-making tutorials that I personally also learned from. They’re all amazing! Turn your love for the media into something that we all can enjoy together!

Cerata's 2024 End of Year Artist shoutouts! (part 1)

Okay so this year was the first time I'd really participated in fandom in over a decade, but I'm truly glad I did because I met a ton of great people, and even got to work on projects with some of them. So I wanted to put all of the cool visual art that I've received last year, whether it be art trade, commission, part of an event, or...fanart? Because that happened somehow?

Anyway, there are a number of other people that I worked with last year, but a bunch of that art started near the end of the year, and as such is not finished yet, hence why this post will be two parts, one now, and the second when everyone else finishes up.

No particular order, all of these artists are great, and lovely people, so do go check out the rest of their work and tell them how cool they are, yeah? Also, some are currently open for commissions, so keep an eye out for that.

(Also, this is my first time trying to do ID text, so bear with me if they're a little rough, despite being a writer, I hate words?)

So first we have @fiyaharts with a lovely illustration of a number of the my favorite Krypton and Krypton-adjacent children. Shadi is lovely to work with and fast to the point where it spooked me a little bit, go off girl.

Next we have two pieces from my favorite Evil Woman Apologist, @vivictory-draws, one of a divorced Barbara and Kara being totally normal about it, and the other of my child and blorbo that haunts my waking hours, Conrad. Love N to death, which is why I haunt her with threats of commissioning Joker/Desaad Yaoi.

...Maybe for the next list, who knows...

So next we have the art created for the last @womenincomicsminibang (which is going to be returning with a reverse bang in a few months, keep an eye out on that.)

The lovely and evocative cover was done by the talented @breakingthespacetimewall, and the scenes of Cassie trying and failing to get her life together were done by the wonderful @soop-jpg

Working with them was a pleasure and honor, and their dedication and kindness really helped me through finishing that fic, and I remain incredibly grateful for that.

The first person I worked with this last year, and the one who really helped solidify the core of a lot of my projects, @nicodrawings drew a glorious cover for my mania-induced first longfic, and also a character reference for the aformentioned disordered young man who haunts my waking hours. She's a professional through-and-through, with wonderful instincts and great communication. She's also working on a fan-comic project of her own that I think is wonderful and am excited to see continue.

I lucked out and was paired with the super chill, super talented @byeara on my first fan project ever, and they hooked me up with this super fun and detailed cover for the fic I wrote for that one kon-centric minibang. I loved working with them, and would love to do so again, logistics willing.

This jerk @vnekey made me cry by drawing really sweet, totally unexpected fanart for that mania-fic I wrote. I'm still a little speechless really, I'd never gotten fanart of any sort for any reason before, and to receive something so lovely as the first thing really touched me deeply, and honestly kept me writing through some rough patches.

My first ever art trade! Kind of! @spider-jaysart is super sweet and supportive and made my...second biblically (is there a Source bible? Are there religious Coluans?) cursed son and his hapless, frankly narratively cursed best buddy look so precious that they ALSO made me cry, can we stop that actually--

Speaking of my cursed son and his narratively cursed Kryptonian, @spicy-apple-pie created this really pretty piece that's...a number of weird deep cuts smushed together into something really specific, but neat if you have the context, which nobody does :3

She was so wonderful and patient and I really enjoyed seeing her run with her inspiration, the Kryptonian mural is super neat and not something I would have ever come up with on my own.

@mediaraiz Is really stylistically flexible, and their "Blob" style really scratched that itch I had for something cute and playful, and they were so game in taking on a larger project, and then went above and beyond in making my lanterns looks truly special.

Finally (for now), @riverdeansart drew a sweet little scene of two horrifyingly stressed totally fine spacebros chilling and chatting about how everything is completely okay!

I was super vague about this one and Dean did a great job getting the vibes right anyway, and with haste.

...So yeah, that's if for now! I'll circle back in a bit when I'm forced to let more artists out of my basement everything else is done!

What makes it special to you: It's hard to pick one line from a fanfic I wrote this year, but I do love this line that ends my story "The Outcast". It's the first favorite line I thought of because it's simple and calls back to how it began. The fic is very themed around finding/discovering what you need with the help of another person.

I don’t know if it would though, I may be wrong but I feel like manacled had a few things going for it that made it so popular that B&G does not - no reference to hand maids tale, which is also insanely popular and beloved right now; it’s not very angsty (I think this is popular?); it’s a time-travel, which I think turns a lot of people away from the get go… But that’s okay! it is what it is.

also, and I’m so sorry to use your post to rant, but it’s my tumblr, it’s my swamp, I live here - I just have to say that I am at the point where I find some key words borderline triggering when it comes to fandom, the comparisons to manacled being one of them. You did NOT do so incorrectly btw, you did it the only way that makes sense to me. What I mean is when people say ‘it’s the manacled of tomione!’ when talking about a fic, when there is NO reason to compare it to that, and it is in NO way even close to it, in any conceivable level. B&G could maybe be compared only the way you did it, and that’s still a stretch. If a fic is super angsty/dark/rapey/thematically similar in another way, or is literally also a hand maids tale AU, then I could maybe see it then, too. But that phrase gets thrown around a lot, same with words like ‘god tier’ and ‘it has me in a chokehold’ and they just. Kind of make me want scoop my eyes out anymore lol. I’d say no offense to people who use these phrases all the time but. A little offense might be meant. Try some new ways to describe how you feel about a story. God tier to you is most assuredly NOT god tier to someone else. Oh and ‘the Bible of XYZ’ is one I’ve seen a few times too and that is just… awful. Gross. Like what an insult honestly have you read the Bible it is NOT a fun read 0 structure 0 character development for anyone spice is a negative chili not hot at all the pages are made of tissue paper always and the dragons don’t even let anyone ride them (also it’s one of the only books that can fairly be called god tier so readjust your perception of that word please)

Ooh fun!

So, the Watcher part is probably pretty obvious for a MCYT blog. The reason I started really delving more into the fandom side of Hermitcraft/Life Series despite being a fan for years longer was honestly Martyn's Watcher lore for his Life Series stuff. Before that I was a fan but just a casual viewer of only a handful of CCs (Grian and Mumbo because my husband watched them, then I dragged husband into Scar, and Tango somewhere along the way kinda just became another huge pillar of my watch time)(Decked Out 2. I started watching his streams out of idle curiosity on its progress because it was this nebulous "game Tango's making" talked about by the other Hermits and I was curious about its progress and along the way my brain just latched on to Tango's sense of humor and I went "Oh. No you're my favorite actually"). But the concept of, like, Watcher!Grian and Watchers in general absolutely slaps and I love it (plus the art is always super creative). So I slapped Watcher to the front of this blog title because, well, I am a Watcher, aren't I? I watch the videos XD

The Aurora bit takes some explaining.

So my Minecraft username is MidnightAurora14 because it sounded whimsical and fantastical and pretty - and was also a username that probably wouldn't be taken XD And I figured "Oh. My Minecraft blog. It should reflect my Minecraft username"

But Aurora specifically came from my 2019 obsession with Final Fantasy XV, where all the main characters have Latin names.

I spent most of my early time in fandom writing Canon X OC fics. But as I got older, I started doing a thing where I kept telling different stories with the same OC for one character but from story to story, the other stories didn't happen, it was just another random idea, I just didn't want to make a new OC for every single random fic, so I'd use the same one over and over again.

Which is only relevant because the OC for one of the FFXV characters that I wrote was named Aurora. Because, again, all the FFXV main characters have Latin names and Aurora is Latin for Dawn. (And the main character I made her to ship with was "the sunshine one" so it felt fitting)

And even after I fell out of fandom with FFXV (still love the game despite sucking at it and the music f*^%ing slaps), I really loved the name Aurora so I just kinda kept using it XD

I also took a "Which Disney Princess are you?" quiz and got Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) after all that, and was like "oh that's a funny coincidence" (and also inaccurate... I'm more of a Rapunzel-Belle-Aurora mix, probably in that order)

So Aurora just kinda became my default username for stuff

Now, the name Rora (rather than Rory, which was going to be my intended nickname), comes from my wonderful friend @soemthingsparkly, who used it on their Tumblr post with the first art of Deepfrost for Ice Walls and I was like "This is an unexpected nickname, but I love it" and now it has stuck and now people in the Ice Walls Discord have a "RORA!" emoji to yell at me for my writing breaking their hearts or making them angry or happy or whatnot XD

For my name it was a nickname I was giving back in middleschool! One of our teacher had a system where we worked with 'wifi' eachtime we talked in class we lost a bar of the "wifi" (was a weird joke and we never held count on that) All the kids usually joked if they needed 'wifi' , they would borrow mine if they wanted to talk more. (I was incredibly shy in middle school, I only talked to like 3 people at school;^;)

Not to sound too mean but what do you expect me to do? I get that sapphic ships get overshadowed and underrated all the time in comparison to achillean ones. Believe me. I am a lesbian who is constantly pushing their sapphic ships everywhere.

But you can't expect people to suddenly stop posting about the achillean ships they enjoy just because they're more popular than YOUR favorite ships. Is it bothersome that achillean ships get more attention for the sole reason of being a male pairing while sapphic ships get ignored or not even suggested? Yeah!!!! It's frustrating.

But if you want some change in the amount of content you see then it's YOUR fight only and others should be allowed to post whatever they like. If you want to post only sapphic ships or you're bothered by them being talked in the same light as achillean ones, then it's YOUR choice to make.

Fandom is NOT activism!!! Fandom is meant to be enjoyed in whatever way you want. Fandom is to interpret media in your own way. So, honestly, if I want to make a simple post comparing two ships I like, why should I be trying to defend myself here for that? If people don't like it, then they can just block me, scroll, move on, etc.

To think a post about comparing fictional ships is insensitive is insane to me, tbh.
