Okay these two are incredible cute and I decided to add them as full part of the crew, they are jointed and all that.
Their names are Elof & Elav, they are brothers and part of the woodland crew. They are little helpers, I am not sure about their abilities yet.
Dunno why but they give me a hard Over the Garden Wall vibe.
Character Concept & Size Comparison under the cut
Here they are next to Eddie (YoSD), Wellem & Matilda (MSD), small little fellas.
I think this display is the next one to be rearranged and prettied up then.

Review: 2D Doll 1/6-scale new body (normal yellow)
Above: Not a very graceful-looking pose, but a memorable one that shows off the poseability of the 2D Doll 1/6-scale body!
Summary: 9/10 would recommend.
Pros: Good poseability; two-piece torso; option hands are available; hefty, solid quality resin; reasonable wait time. If you’re looking for variety, this is also the shortest Yo-SD-scale body I know of.
Cons: No easy hand-changing mechanism; back of elbows have that sculpted nub which I find rather ugly; more expensive than other Chinese-made 1/6-scale bodies.
Note: I want to add that my 2D body came strung with extremely thick 3.5mm elastic (I usually use this thickness for MSD’s!), and with an over-sized S-hook in the head which I had to switch out for a smaller one in order to fit the kindergarten Kun-kun head pictured above. It was also strung so tightly that there was barely any give when I pulled on the S-hook. I wanted to keep it as it was for this review, but I couldn’t bear the tight stringing and ended up restringing the body the very same day, with slightly thinner elastic (about 2.5-3mm, which is still thicker than I usually use for Yo-SD’s). 2D Doll have mentioned on their Weibo that they are looking into this issue after receiving complaints, so this will hopefully change in future.
More detailed comments and photos:
Wait time: It took about 2 months to arrive, even though I ordered in February 2020, during the Covid-19 situation (to take advantage of a sale). Not bad at all. It came securely packed in an unbranded box (probably because I didn’t order a full doll?)
Sculpting: This is a child-like body with somewhat cartoon-y shaping. For ease of comparison, the body is pictured below beside the fairly well-known Volks body (also one of my favourites). Without the head, there is a height difference of almost a centimetre. There aren’t many other good bodies which are both in the same scale as Yo-SD and are significantly shorter, so this pleases me greatly.
Below: back view. Note the elbow joints which have a floating nub on the back. Visually, I find this type of elbow extremely unappealing... but I’m willing to put up with it in this case because the body checks all my other boxes -- and at least those armoured nubs are not on the knee caps (shudder).
The other sculpting point that irks me slightly is the swollen-looking ankles, with ball joints larger than the base of the calf - but I suppose they help promote sturdy posing. I should mention that the soles of the feet are not flat but are cutely sculpted with an arch.
Posing: As shown right at the top, this body crouches solidly and with little effort, which is no mean feat. The double joints in the elbows work perfectly and are not difficult to engage, so the doll can touch the back of its head and its face with ease. Wrist and ankle mobility is quite good.
The thighs are on the tubby side and are in all one piece with just a basic slot at the top. As a result, thigh mobility is slightly limited, though not as much as one might think. The doll can only sit with its legs spread, compare below:
Below: Kneeling is possible, both upright and on the doll’s haunches (”seiza” position), but again, the legs have to be spread. The double joints in the knees engage quite smoothly.
Below: The spread-eagled “suwarikko” pose is one of my favourites. This body can do it, but not as smoothly as Volks, Pettimal or Miyadoll. It can also sit with both legs bent to one side!
Below: Body can also stand with one leg in front of the other, or slightly raised.
Resin: The resin is heavy and feels very solid. I don’t see any traces of seams, discoloration or dust. It is totally opaque with a very slight plasticky look to it. I have no complaints, resin-wise.
Hybridizing notes: The body is a good match size-wise for my Mia Soo Smile head and kindergarten Kun-kun, which are both on the slightly smaller side of this size range. A silicone “KIPS” disc is needed for maximum head mobility. The neck is on the long side and could stand to be shaved down about 3-5mm (which I intend to do subsequently). I have since discovered that 2D Doll sells a “short-necked” version of their 1/6-scale body, probably intended specifically for hybrids, whilst the original version which I purchased has the standard longer neck (I surmise that the 2D Doll heads have a deeper neck socket than average). Be sure to purchase this version for your hybrid, if you wish to save time and effort. Edit: The standard body is about 235mm at the highest point of the neck.
Below: Colour-wise, 2D Doll normal yellow is an excellent match for slightly yellowed Volks fair - I’d rate it a 95% match. It is less peachy/ more yellow-toned than Mia’s new normal - about an 85% match. I will likely order a short-necked normal pink body to compare, and will update this review if so.
Option hands: A small range of option hands is available. Closed hands are usually some of my favourites, as far as hand poses go, but these ones are strangely bland and look like they were made out of plasticine. The standard open hands are quite chubby and cute, though, with detailed nails and finger joint creases on the underside. The main problem as far as the hands go is the lack of an easy-change mechanism. Combined with the super-tight stringing, I needed the aid of hemostats to be able to change hand parts.
Overall: You know how you can kinda tell, just by looking, that some bodies draw inspiration rather heavily from other well-known or market-leading bodies? This body doesn’t give me that feeling. I feel like it was sculpted from scratch, with a specific vision in mind. The end result is more individual than most 1/6-scale bodies now on the market, whilst also being functional and charming. And of course, there is that irresistible height difference, which was the main reason I originally purchased this body.
Purchasing tip: 2D Doll often has sales where bodies are up to 15% off. I’ve also noticed that a couple of multi-brand Taobao retailers list in-stock dolls at discounted prices, so you may want to take a look if you’re in a hurry.

I finally did my great big bjd lineup for 2022 back in September. This year there are 56 dolls in the lineup, though I didn't include 3 dolls as they are identical duplicates (same head and body sculpt combos). Most are mine, though a small portion belong to my wife.
I realize now that I should have shoved the Soom boys in the 70cm+ section into the 1/3+ section instead, as they wouldn't be this tall without their fantasy parts.
Taking the pictures was a half day ordeal as I would only setup at most 6 dolls in one go, always making the last of one image the first of the next. Then it took me another couple of hours to select the best images and manually edit and merge them into one long lineup since I unfortunately do not own anything long enough to setup all the dolls into one giant line.
I hope this is hopeful to at least some people, to help them visualize just how big the differences are between the size ranges, and even within!

As of Oct 8th, Dream Valley Zhao is here!!!!! 😍😭🐱🐾
I was prepared to wait past Halloween for her to pop into the usps system, but here she is!!! Thank you cloversinging !! 😚🤗💕 This was one of those "love at first sight" moments... I specifically try NOT to shell OCs often because I just have sooo many, but the minute I saw the sculpt I knew I had to have it.... (I also have crushed on like a dozen cat anthro sculpts for years for some reason?? so that didn't help.... 😑) So this is gonna be my lucky cat shonen heronie, katsumi/quinn... my boo is super hyped to help me costume her cuz they helped me design all her powerup outfits. 🤩 (I'm even MORE hyped at her being yosd size, ugh!!!!) About the doll- getting her to stand is definitely a challenge at times, but I managed to get some awesome poses with patience and occasionally a bit of support. (I truthfully don't expect (or trust...) many dolls to stand unaided for long even if they *can*) The jointing is awesome on the legs imho, a bit more range than dollzone sho (who I will do a comparison with sometime, he is in bits atm) i love looove the magnetic tail and I LOVE the human hands but I think I'll be keeping the paws on katsu, they're just too cute! (I have another DV girl on order who will satisfy that desire anyway 💦) This one is gonna be getting dyed, I have quite a few dye projects piling up.. maybe I'll make that a thing this next week... 🤔 though I better get on faceups before it gets too cold... Hmmm! Anyway I'll see about posting my project plans for this one to stories when I get to it!

So here’s a little comparison and write up of my new 3D printed girl’s project now that I’ve got her ‘finished’ :) She’s standing next to a Volks MSD body.
I started with a Soom Teenie Gem Trachy head that I needed a body for. I liked the form factor of 7Fish’s Little BJD Girl so I decided to try and size it up! I used my PLA 3D printer (I have a Snapmaker V1 that prints 125mm max on any side) to print her at 270%, just going for a size where the neck was a correct fit for the head.
It took maybe 50 print hours to get all her parts fully printed in high quality! I split the parts in flesh/black PLA to get a cyborg type look without having to do surface painting.
Now come my personal thoughts on finishing the body:
Even if it takes more time just print in your highest quality settings. I’d rather double my print time and do less finishing.
After printing there was some mess left in areas where supports were used. I use a low heat soldering iron to smooth these areas. It doesn’t give a perfect finish, but I found it a more pleasing way to finish over sandpaper. In a pinch the tip of a hot glue gun would work too, but for areas like around the fingers having a pointy tip can be really useful.
Posing is an issue at this bigger scale for her. She’s very light (though top heavy because of her resin head) but her joints need help since they don’t pose right straight out of the printer. I used the default stringing method she was designed with and the thickest elastic I could manage to pull through the channels. I put hot glue in all joints to get some grip since the PLA has none really. Her legs still needed wire to get the knees working in addition to hot glue.
Another issue was her hips. They didn’t have any grip whatsoever because the way the elastic went through the hip. They used a peg-in-joint system and it couldn’t hold standing or sitting. My unusual fix was to fully wrap the peg inside her hip piece in twine to create a tight fit with the thigh piece and add grip. It works!
Her feet are not flat on the bottom, creating a problem standing. She does have holes in the bottom of her soles so she can stand on a peg. Also with her unusual figure she actually has YoSD sized feet! Petite feet. But with shoes on she can stand on her own!
All in all: a very fun project! I paid $40 for the head and used maybe $5 in PLA. I made the eyes and wig myself, painted her myself.

Notes on clothes that fit the new Na Na Na Surprise 2-in-1 dolls
Apologies for the utter lack of pictures as it's really a pain for me to take pics these days and I wanted to get the info out there for anyone who might find it useful. This is for the newer "plushie"-looking dolls like Tuesday Meow, the ones that come with a matching animal pouch/purse thing.
First, a general note on non-NaNaNa shirts that technically fit this kind of doll: many of them bunch up in the front, often riding up towards the neck, while the back tends to be stretched tight. Shirts with that issue work better if the arms are posed straight down, as the bunching becomes more obvious when the arms are posed forward even a little bit.
I didn't undress any clothed dolls for these comparisons so a few of the more extreme options have not been fully tested (like BJD YoSD clothes).
Let's dive in...
Kelly: - 1 shirt made of stretchy fabric with stretchy hems fits - I would NOT recommend Kelly clothes, they are generally way too tiny, but again if you already own some they're worth looking at just in case
Baby Born: - 1 short-sleeved hoodie fit (the hood is hilariously off-scale for the head) - most pieces are too tight in general, too long sleeves, sleeves the arms will never go through, backs don't close on dresses or anything with velcro in the back, pants/skirts with stretchy waistlines don't wanna go past their hips and the crotches are too confined even if you manage to force them on - I would not recommend this as an option, but if you already own pieces they're worth looking through
American Girl bear toy clothes: - 1 old-fashioned black overcoat with tails fit, but the matching white shirt is wonky and rides up towards the neck - 1 white lacy nightgown/dress fits
Barbie / Ken / Bratz: - Sleeveless or very-short-sleeved open-front jackets and shirts tend to fit - Skirts with stretchy waists tend to fit - Short very-stretchy pants may fit (they will be very low-rise, and capri-length pants on Barbie will be too long for this doll) - Dresses don't close in the back
Dollzone Pet Doll clothes: - Suit vests fit - “Card Guard”-looking outfit fits (pants are somewhat low-rise and tight at the ankles) - Old-fashioned white shirt kind of fits but it doesn't really look good (top snap being taken out would help which I am not going to do to BJD clothes, sleeves have to be bunched up to fit) - Grey suit pants do NOT fit
Impldoll YoSD: - dresses don't close in the back (which is disappointing as they look nice from the front and are quite long)
Conclusion: I'm thinking the American Girl bear plushie toy clothing has the biggest chance of working well, though they are a little bit on the oversized end depending on the piece. Sleeveless open-front clothing from other dolls generally works well unless the base doll is much too small. And... that's it for my braincells today, so there we go. Dolly clothes. Yurp.

Momo is home! I’ve been meaning to shell her since two doll purchases ago... She is an event Dollzone Yo NiuNiu. She is supposed to be Kuren’s younger sister (second photo is of Kuren for comparison). I can’t give her a faceup because of the poor weather here so she will probably be blank for a while. I’m so glad I didn't have to wait Dollzone wait times for one of their amazing YoSD dolls... but I was so unprepared to have a YoSD in the house ;w; she’ll get proper attire in due time.

Yes hello reporting from limbo with a quick comparison
I figured it could be helpful for anyone trying to hybrid tall-ish yosd. There you have the 30 SQlab body, the 29cm dollzone (starring mismatched Yo-Carter head), and 5StarDoll 30cm body (starring a heavily modded DZ Choco), Soom Afi and DBDoll Adai in for size purposes.
They’re very similar in height, but vary a lot when it comes to arm lenght and shoulder width
Out of the three, the posing that earned my heart is no doubt the Dollzone new body. It flows so nicely! The SQlab poses pretty damn nice as well. And I have my qualms with the 5star body, mostly because the string channels on the double joint peanuts are too short to accomodate the movement range it could have -_- Oh well.

Body swap: Volks Yo-SD/ ASAI Murphy 27.5cm (+ bonus Pettimal)
I should have included the years of production. Rinon is 2014, but in very good condition (only slightly yellowed compared to 2018 Volks SDM), the Mira head is 2018, and everything else is 2019.
Doll nudity under the cut~
Head swapped:
Murphy is a small head with very delicate, petite features, so in my opinion she looks better on the Yo-SD body (or the shorter Pettimal body, below), than her actual ASAI body. XD
Incidentally, these are also all the bodies with solid/ one-piece torsos in my possession! I prefer split torsos for better poseability, so I’m not sure how I ended up with three... XD;
These photos were not meant as a colour reference, so bear in mind that I didn’t check that aspect for accuracy. In the flesh, though, I’m noticing that both Mira and the Pettimal body (separately purchased and both described as being matched to “Volks normal skin”), are slightly too cool-toned compared to actual Volks fair resin, which is a touch peachier and livelier, in my opinion.
Having fallen in love with Iris (Murphy) on a shorter body than her original one, I’m now contemplating which body to purchase for her... If you’re interested, the current top contenders are Guardlove (the 4th generation body being designed looks very cute, GL light tan resin is very close to Murphy’s tan, but only available to order around Feb next year) and Akagidoll (a wide range of tans is available but I’m not sure which to pick; too skinny for my taste but poseability is very good). I also contemplated Charmdoll (light tan shade available, cute body shape but it doesn’t suit this head, would be better for a younger character; tricky to find matching option hands) and Spiritdoll (body shape is very close to Volks, but their light tan is close to Volks sunlight so may not match; I have also read that their tan resin discolours over time :o).
As difficult as it is to wait, I am telling myself to hold off from deciding between Akagi and GL until my Elementdoll pre-order arrives, so I can see how I like that body and resin colour (Akagidoll large-jointed body in milk tea tan). I’m actually keen to revisit this post in half a year or so and see which body I finally do settle on for Iris. :D

Super useful comparison of various 35cm to Yo-SD-sized bodies, including Chibi Unoa beside the new Be With You 35cm body!
https://m.weibo.cn/1461806370/4441351439063920
It also includes Yo-SD and Pettimal bodies, which I have, alongside other bodies I am interested in! :DDD (in short, yes to BWY and SQ-Lab Yo-SD-sized bodies, maybe to Akagi, unlikely for Shoushou 29cm, definite no to Iplehouse KID - those limbs are too slender to be believable beside Yo-SD and MSD.)

For comparison's sake. It's a good fit both ways, ignoring the obvious colour difference, since the Kanon is over 10 years old. (Mira and her Pettimal body are both colour-matched to 2018 Volks "normal")
