Boxopening - Penny's Box - Puppet Kingdom Little Witch & Little Painter Blind Boxes - aka Bodies for the Patchlings

As mentioned not that long ago i decided to turn the heads from @mirrorada into full dolls and knowing they fit Penny's box bodies was really helpful. I decided to use the bodies (&cloth) of this really cute series for Poe, Mary, Stephen and Bram.

I considered using a 5th for another rolling head but the head is too big for the body, therefore I ended up with two leftover boys. I kept those two with their original heads as they are my favorites of the series, I'm not sure if I will handle them as usual members of the crew or not, my brain is a bit done by now, dressing them up took quite a while.

Regardless the Patchlings have bodies and clothing and a ... fun display. I will paint them next year, they are basically queued up, Linalee has doll priority for now.

ooc. i love letting my brain trail off with potential drabble ideas and ending up with things i desperately want to write as soon as the thought enters my head — currently imagining that hel and her youngest, emmett, are the only ones home as samson and joey are out helping harvey with a move to a bungalow as opposed to his current two bed house. my mind pipes up like “ oh!! make it so that joel comes around and breaks in while it is just hel and emmett!! “ and i’m going y e s because emmett in the verse i’m briefly focusing on is an 18 yr old boy, so he is quite capable of packing a punch .. and i really wanna make it so joel and em end up fighting, to the point where em gets an equally painful couple of hits to the face, which sends hel into a rage and sends her after joel with a knife. cue helene calling her bestie in a complete panic while yelling and crying down the phone that she just stabbed him and he’s losing a shitload of blood. i wanna write the thing so bad.

Scandinavian players have the similar modus operandi despite their differences in styles, they are all striving for the same goal. I mean, I know I am conflating way too many varied personas, yet I believe all Scandinavian musicians basically follow something all players should've known – their tunes need to be listened to. I agree, this goes without saying, but way too many somehow forget this. Sure, their pop singers in the vein of Tove Styrke have to achieve this, though this shouldn't suggest they are not allowed to be weird. Check Styrke – while she is eclectic, she doesn't get lost in this notion, she wishes for us to follow her. There are a lot of moments in her songs, where you're not sure what goes on and she makes these work.

Thrown - Chapter 43: A Perfect Fit

Summary: You and Loki discuss the upcoming ball.

Word Count: 1,251

Author's Notes: I was hoping to keep the once-a-week schedule up at least through November, but the days have gotten darker more quickly than I expected. May be switching to every-other-week. Will decide in the next several days.

"This neckline, I believe, would most suit you, my lady." Elof held up the bodice of a dress as an example. You nodded. "I'll trust your judgement on that." "Excellent. Now, if you please?" The tailor gestured to a riser near a set of mirrors. You gingerly stepped up and he bustled about, taking measurements with his tape and writing on a pad.

Loki stood nearby, leaning against a table and watching you intently. The preparations for the Midsummer ball were moving along on schedule. This meant Elof certainly had all the work he needed, but he had been adamant that you were not to wear a dress made by anyone else. Then, when he found out you would be attending on Loki's arm he insisted on a fitting immediately. A grander dress was called for, was the reason given. You had tried to protest but he wouldn't hear it. It was a scenario Loki had seen play out a few times now with Æsir who were determined to repay your kindness. You were often reluctant to receive any boon, but you were met with the same dogged generosity that you had surely shown them. A smile turned up his lips as he watched you now. Your expression was somewhat awkward as Elof circled you and made notes on each of your dimensions. Loki's mind was already swimming in the image of you in an Asgardian gown. He couldn't wait to see it.

"So, my dear, what were you thinking for the color?" Elof looked up from the pad, his eyes cutting to Loki. "I was thinking red?" You kept your expression perfectly level, but Loki knew better. "Maybe a nice crimson?" Loki set his jaw and narrowed his eyes. "Never entangle yourself with a mortal woman, Elof." He warned as he pushed off the table. He kept his glare fixed on you as he approached. "She will try your patience at every turn." You were doing your best to rein in your smirk as you looked down at him from the riser. Elof chuckled while he scribbled something on his pad. "I would expect nothing less from your match, sire." Your eyebrows rose in victory. Loki took your hand and considered it for a moment before placing a kiss to it and meeting your eyes again. "I suppose you're right." Elof waved toward another room. "I have some very lovely green fabrics in my inventory, if you would like to come take a look." "I guess that will do." You sighed dramatically as Loki helped you step down.

Upon leaving the tailor's shop you immediately took Loki's arm and leaned into him as the two of you walked down the street. This garnered a few stray glances. Contrary to what Thor might have led him to believe, the shared feelings between the two of you had not been known by the entire population. Though the gossip seemed to be spreading quickly and he had yet to meet someone who seemed surprised at the revelation.

"Tell me again what I can expect at this ball." You squeezed his arm as you walked. "Food and dancing. Wreaths of flowers. Outside there will be bonfires. Plenty to drink. For the Æsir, even. I hear that Asbjorn and his sons are building up enough stock of their Asgardian spirits to drown half the town." He looked down at you. "The food and drink will be the main draw. And the dancing." You bit your lip. "I'm a little worried about the dancing." Loki waved away your concern. "Nonsense. You're a beautiful dancer." You looked up at him skeptically. "That's not what you told me before." "Well, you dance beautifully when I'm leading you." To illustrate his point he stopped, took your hand, and spun you away before drawing you back to him. "And I will be leading you." You laughed as you regained your footing. "And what if someone else asks me to dance?" "You are welcome to make a fool of yourself with another partner." Your laugh was light and you tucked yourself against him again.

He took you on a leisurely stroll through New Asgard. Tonight's dinner was to be held at his home, so there was no need for any hurry. The weather was fair, spring was bringing gradually warmer weather each day. The two of you meandered down the streets until you reached the building site of the hall and found Thor at work managing the efforts there. After some coaxing --and a stern look from you-- he was eventually convinced to take his leave and join Loki for their evening walk.

Thor turned to you. "I understand you were making your own Midsummer plans today?" An uncertain nod from you. "Yeah. Elof just won't take no for an answer. I'm still convinced I'll be completely out of place at a ball, but at least I'll be dressed for the party." Loki was about to object when Thor did it for him. "Ridiculous! You would never be out of place. You belong at the ball. It is your place." He opened his arms to gesture to the town before him. "Just as this is our place. Our new home, where we didn't belong but now we do." He clapped you on the back. "That's precisely what we are celebrating." "Okay, okay." You put your hands up in surrender. "You don't have to weaponize the unity of our people." Loki smirked and gave his brother an approving nod when you weren't looking.

"Elof asked me what color dress I wanted." You glanced up at Thor. "I told him I'd like red." Thor's eyes immediately lit with a teasing mischief. "Ah. A superior color, to be sure." Loki glowered. "I thought so too," you continued with a wry smile, "but he seemed to think I should go with green instead." "I think I can explain. You likely don't know this, but red is considered to be my color." He pressed a hand to his chest dramatically. "It would give people entirely the wrong idea about the two of us." "Oh, I see." "This charade is beneath the both of you." Loki muttered. "Could you imagine?" Thor bellowed a false laugh. "A prince of Asgard, courting a lowly mortal?" You were grinning, and feigned a gasp. "The scandal!" "That is really quite enough." Loki interjected. "Well I would hate for you to lose face like that." You didn't appear to hear Loki at all. "I'm glad Elof set me straight." "I will have to thank him for saving the crown from such shame." Thor nodded. "It would be no trouble at all for me to drop the both of you in the harbor." Loki scowled. You and Thor subsided, but not before indulging in a laugh at Loki's irritation.

The walk ended at the brothers' house, where Valkyrie was already waiting with dinner from a restaurant in town. The four of you sat down to share a meal and it occurred to Loki what a strange party this was: the rightful king of Asgard, his brother from another universe, a warrior lost and returned, and a human who had simply decided it was her business to help. Still, somehow, nothing could have felt more natural.

When the night drew to a close you bid goodbye to Thor and the Valkyrie. Loki walked with you to your home. You reached down to lace your fingers with his. Even your hands fit together perfectly.

As some of you know, I love writing Raoul. My next projects after All Vows ends are mostly Raoul-centered, and I'm pretty deep in my research. I’ve tumbled absolutely headlong into researching La Baille (nickname for the French naval academy), and it’s amusing how across time and distance, so much of initial military training is unchanged. Even though I cosplay Christine, Raoul actually ends up being the character who I give most of my own life experience because I am, in fact, a Sailor. When I'm writing Raoul POV about being at sea, I sometimes use my own journal entries from past deployments when I was underway on the USS NEVERSAIL somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

I get a lot of questions about Raoul's uniform, so I'm sharing some of the above (hello talented artists, could we PLEASE get more Raoul Navy Phanart, I am BEGGING YOU)

This is exactly what Raoul's midshipman uniform would have looked like. As you can see from the photo from 1891, the uniform from that time and even a decade later is the same. Naval uniforms, especially dress uniforms change very infrequently. My dress uniform that I wear in 2024 is the same one that was designed by Mainbocher in 1941!

The term "élève-officier" translates literally to "student-officer", although most translate it as "officer candidate", which isn't inaccurate. They were then classified by year, so a first year student would be an élève-officier fourth class. However, the British and American term for a naval cadet is a "midshipman" which is often abbreviated to "mid". So "elof" is basically directly translated to "mid". However, there was an additional naval trainee rank, called "Aspirant". This was assigned to the naval cadets when they embarked for their tour du monde on actual warships. It's a unique rank that's basically a desgination that the individual is a senior at the academy--like a "Midshipman First Class", the term to describe seniors at the US Naval Academy.

I couldn't find a good picture of a young/junior officer from this era in the French Navy but FUN FACT! The French Navy underwent a uniform shift in 1883. The officer uniform was largely unchanged, however, that short coat and triangular hat that we often associate with the end of the age of sail was phased out as a dress uniform. So it's possible that Raoul had a dress uniform very much like this around the time of Phantom of the Opera, but it was on its way out. The rank is accurate though! So if Raoul went to the opera in uniform in about 1881? This is what he would have looked like.

The uniforms were the same when Raoul would have graduated, and that is the Borda that is mentioned in the book. In my head this is Raoul's senior class photo (even though it's 10 years later), complete with a few guys who have no idea what's going on and aren't looking at the camera.

I decided to start flufftober, because damn, I need it. Prompts under the cut, they were made by @ tomseus on X.

Day 1, "Kitty-ing around". I chose "shapeshifter" part of the prompts.

Drew my Lunar, First-among-the-Chickadees (here you can see her in her human form), and her Dragon-Blooded adventure companions, Elof (Air Aspect) and Leroy (Fire Aspect) of House Ledaal (they are brothers, though not by blood).

Yeah, Dragon-Blooded who were born and grew up in Realm are traveling with Lunar. They did hate eachother before, but now they are just annoying eachother sometimes. Even centuries worth of animosity and a lot of personal trauma can be cast aside when a duet of Abyssals haunts amd torments you for long enough.

But it's a long story for another time, I suppose. Definitely not something you'd associate with fluff 😌

Now the fun stuff

Before they got dragons Frida was more of less the leader, with her sisters and cousins willing going along with any crazy ideas while Zephyr and Nuffink watched on in amusement. After getting their dragons they went to their own island were they teamed up with Frode, Selby, and later Erling. Zephyr is now “co-leader” with Frida, in reality she is the leader but Frida didn’t want to give up her position and Zephyr decided to ‘compromise’.

Zephyr is normally very calm and doesn’t really show any anger, the only time being when Erling had first joined them. Ever since the events of Homecoming she would spend her free time studying dragons and is now an expert dragon trainer.

Nuffink is a free spirit and can often be found testing his endurance or attempting flying tricks with Pouncer. Though on a bit of the bizarre side he is one of the most reliable members of the team.

Frida is confident, headstrong, and unwaveringly loyal. She spends a lot of her time pranking just about anyone. The only people she hasn’t successfully got was her mother and uncle. She likes to be in charge and has a hard time giving that up.

Selby is the total opposite of what she seems. She is absolutely feral and loves a bit of harmless destruction. She is very observant and knows the best way to blackmail the whole team.

Ylva is a being of pure chaos with absolute no self discipline. She is a bit on the violent side and once sent another islander to the infirmary after choking him.

Skad is much shyer and timid than her sisters and is rarely found away from her family. Despite this she still does enjoy participating in her sisters’ shenanigans, as long as she isn’t on the frontline.

Amund is basically Frida’s henchman and will go along with anything she says. He does hold grudges and will not let people forget their ‘wrongs’.

Magni although great at just about everything he tries is lazy and easily gets bored. The only time he’s doing actual work is when he’s defending his family.

Frode is quick-tempered and extremely self conscious. He is very protective of the others, often putting himself in compromising situations When he was younger his hands got burned and now he is permanently scarred so he wears gloves to cover that.

Elof is the worst combination of intelligence and insanity. As much as he loves and respects the dragons the one thing he refuses to do is ride a dragon, he is terrified of falling off.

Liv is bubbly, eccentric, and full of life. She is still the one to scold her brothers when they do something stupid. Although she doesn’t have a dragon of her own she will take any chance she gets to ride with Erling.

Erling started out very coincided and full of himself. He would verbally degrade the others and refuse to work with them. When him and Zephyr got captured by dragon hunters however he had to depend on her to get them out and was even brought down a couple pegs when she got fed up with him. He now tries to be better, if not for himself for Zephyr.

Kara is both a skilled fighter and a gentle woman. Weather she is cooking or taking out enemies she takes pride in her work. She is a well of knowledge and is always willing to help others.

This is Raden, I’m still developing him. What you need to know is that his dad died during the Drago attack and his mom later married Eret. He is 23
