Good news, I did not become spontaneously magnetic and blow up the MRI machine 👍

It did give me a wicked headache though so hopefully it doesn’t turn into a migraine.

I will say. Nicest MRI team to date. They handed me earplugs and I was like “oh fancy, my last one didn’t give me earplugs” and this very camp tech with rainbow hair said, “oh honey, they let you rawdog that sound? Absolutely not. That’s like an OSHA violation. It’s so loud.”

When asked what I wanted to listen to on the headphones they clamped over my head I was just like idk surprise me. And that’s when I was informed I’d be listening to Chappell Roan for the next forty minutes.

When they were about to load me into the machine I heard this voice over the speakers that went “waaait, does this form say EDS? Like Ehlers Danlos?”

And I said yes, as best I could with a giant cage over my head and a thing holding my chin in place. To which the disembodied voice replied, “okay people, time to brace those joints!” and a sudden gaggle of techs I hadn’t seen before came in, pulled me out and repositioned all my limbs to make sure I wasn’t over extending on the table.

They put some extra padding around my neck too which was helpful because I could feel it trying to subluxate. It gave a nasty click at one point and the tech trying to help me froze and I had to assure her I was fine. (Spoiler: based on this growing headache, I may not be fine.)

And then they put the cage back on and rolled me back into the giant casket shaped magnet as Hot To Go started playing at full volume and I flashed forward to imagining my own funeral, wondering if it’d be too morbid a song to play at the crematorium. They had to keep telling me to stop laughing.

When it was over the same voice came over the speakers like, “hey, so you have EDS, do you have POTS too?” to which I answered in the affirmative and the voice said “mmm-kay. Don’t move.” then vanished, which was when I was pulled out of the machine by two extremely burly orderlies who transferred me to a reclining bed until the dizziness from the machine stopped, which was super nice.

I do appear to have had an allergic reaction to whatever detergent they use to clean the scrubs they gave me. But other than that and the probable migraine, it was a good experience.

Now we just need to wait on the results.

Can we talk about how rad it is that LGBTQ+ youth have so much more representation in mainstream media nowadays?

In late October 2024, we brought ten LGBTQ+ young people from all across the country together in Los Angeles, many meeting in person for the first time.

They bonded, talked about issues facing queer youth, discussed activism and advocacy… and then they talked about queer joy. We told them the theme for our end of year campaign was called Joy Rebellion and we asked each of them, individually, what brings them joy.

Six of them, unaware of what anyone else had answered, said Chappell Roan. First words out of their mouth.

They looked up to her so much, they asked if they could write an article about Chappell and what she means to them. And in writing it, they had another question — can we make Chappell Roan our Joy Rebel of the Year? We said yes and yes.

Here's what Violet (15) and Kay (16) had to say, written for Out Magazine:

"Discovering Chappell Roan for the first time felt like discovering magic — like finally finding a home in a world that doesn't always make space for our stories. As Youth Voices with It Gets Better, we come from different backgrounds and places (two of us in this class are from the Midwest). Still, we share something powerful: the experience of seeing ourselves represented by someone who not only exudes queer joy but demands respect for it. "Chappell Roan is more than an artist who creates music we love to scream-sing; she's a force of nature who shows us what it looks like to take up space unapologetically. Chappell's music has opened up a space for conversations many of us have never had but honestly needed. Songs like "Good Luck Babe" or "HOT TO GO!" make it feel less awkward to talk about our crushes, love lives, and identities with straight friends because she broadcast the world of lesbian love into the mainstream. Ever since you and Hugh got Olivia and her friends tickets to the governors ball music festival, all she did was play Chappell Roan’s music on repeat. Occasionally she would play Fleetwood Mac or Joan Jett, but Chappell Roan was always at the top of her playlist.

You and Hugh had days off and they happened to land on the same days as the gov ball so you decided that a music festival was the best way to spend time together.

Your boys were in Los Angeles with friends so Olivia gave the tickets to her two friends. You were grateful you didn’t have to fly to another city for the festival.

“Who are we seeing again?” Hugh asked, probably for the tenth time. He was more old school when it came to music, but he still liked to listen to Olivia’s music.

“Chappell Roan, dad. Remember the dance I was showing mom the other day? That’s her song that goes with the dance.” Olivia explained.

“I really like her song ‘red wine supernova’. I hope she plays it.” You looked down at your phone. Alex and Reese had texted you pictures of them and their friends at the beach. You missed them, but you were glad they were having fun.

“So how does the dance go?” Hugh asked.

It took a while but, after many attempts, Hugh finally got the hot to go dance figured out. Olivia felt so proud when he finally got it.

“See that, honey? This old man can still dance.” Hugh said with a smirk on his face.

“Not to brag but it took less tries for me to learn.”

After waiting in the crowd a for what seemed hours (Olivia’s words), Chappell Roan finally arrived on stage. Hugh, like the dad he is, took out his phone and recorded both Chappell Roan and his daughter having the time of her life with her friends, singing and jumping along to the music.

“When is she playing the hot to go?” Hugh asked you.

“It’s just called hot to go, there’s no the in front.” You clarified.

“Oh.”

Eventually hot to go did play. That’s when Hugh and you got told by Olivia that this was the song that they had to dance to. Some fans had spotted the celebrity couple dancing along and recorded them. It’s not everyday you see the wolverine dancing to Chappell Roan.

Hugh ended up having a few mistakes when it came to the dance but he didn’t care. He was having fun. At one point he was being recorded by you.

“You can take me hot to go!” Hugh sang along. “That’s all I know! I don’t know the words, but I’ll learn!”

In a matter of minutes, you and Hugh were on trending everywhere. You even got several messages from Alex and Reese about your viral videos. At the moment, the boys wished they were there either you, Hugh and Olivia.

You were lounging in bed, still blinking away the fog in your eyes when you got a text. You picked up the phone and squinted to read the time, 8:36AM, you sighed before looking at the actual text.

You sighed, knowing exactly who it was from and how it would end. You and Sevika had broken up over three months ago but you still received an occasional text from her. You fought the urge to answer right away, taking a deep breath and trying to calm your heartbeat first. After a few minutes you gathered the strength to type out an answer.

You : sure, coffee after work ?

Unknown number : only coffee ?

You : I kind of have plans for tonight sorry

"I'd suggest the jazz bar on MaryAnn Street but,

You had made that mistake too many times, meeting Sevika for drinks at the end of a rough day, expecting it to end with you parting ways amicably just to be proven wrong each and every time. There was something to her, an allure that you quite couldn't resist, as if her soul was calling out to yours but her heart was constantly pushing you away. It was the reason you had broken up in the first place, her pushing you away, keeping out of the loop so you would never get involved in Silco's business. She meant well and you knew it, but there was only so much you could take. Too many nights where you'd stare at the clock wondering if she would make it home this time, too many times only getting to see her in the early hours of the morning just for her to be too drunk to even speak. You wanted, needed security, someone who could spare some time for you, confide in you and make you feel like a partner instead of a child they must keep out of everything.

You remember the last time you agreed to go out for drinks with Sevika. You both stayed at the Last Drop for several hours, reminiscing the good moments of your relationship, catching up on each other's lives. It only took a couple drinks for the look in her eyes to go from its usual detachment to that dark arousal you'd see whenever she would get home after a hard day. And it was only a couple more drinks that led to Sevika kissing your neck in the back of the bar, she still remembered every erogenous zone, every sensitive spot there and she was kissing them almost earnestly. You crumbled in a few minutes and you ended up in her bed, once again, and once again you promised yourself it would be the last time. She never had any regards for you in the morning, barely addressing you while you were picking your clothes up and getting dressed, it made you feel dirty and yet you could never resist, you always fell for the sweet nothings she had whispered in your ear in her drunk haze.

"If I didn't love you, it would be fine"

Sevika knew she was hurting you every time it happened, but you also hurt her when you broke up with her. She was trying to do the good thing in your relationship, saw you as a light she did not want to dim with stories of the things she did. The truth was that Sevika loved you, in her own way, but she saw you as something fragile, breakable that she should protect. She was incredibly angry and hurt that you had broken up with her after two years, despite all the times she had explained her reasoning, she felt as though it was selfish of you and so she refused to let you just move on. Whenever she found herself missing you she would send a text, asking to go out, knowing full well you would never say no. She would never ask you to take her back, instead she would rather wait until you asked for her to come back to you, but every single time you joined her for the evening Sevika could tell how stiff you were, fidgeting with the hem of your shirt and refusing to look in her agate eyes. Every night ultimately ended up with you in her bed and her almost urging you out in sheer frustration that you wouldn't make the first move. So even if she knew her actions were hurting you, she also knew you still had feelings for her and she texted you once again, capitalizing on your feelings for her to secure a spot by your side, albeit temporarily.

"I'll meet you for coffee, only for coffee,

Nowhere else is safe, every place leads back to your place"

You had just gotten home from work and you immediately started getting ready, there was a little skip in your step for the whole way home, the idea that you would get to meet up with Sevika for something other than getting drunk was making you feel almost giddy. While doing your make-up your mind started drifting to all the soft moments exchanged between Sevika and you and eventually memories of your drunk nights together. Eventually the giddiness faded into bitterness, the corners of your mouth lowering from the grin you were sporting earlier and your shoulders slumping slightly. You knew, deep down you knew. It wouldn't be just coffee, she'd suggest the Last Drop and you'd agree with a "something came up" text to your friends. And once more you'd wake up in her bed feeling used. You look at yourself in the mirror, feeling Sevika's hand around your heart tightening, you were almost fully done up but your mood had significantly worsened compared to when you stepped into your bedroom.

"So let's not do coffee, let's not even try,

It's better we leave it and give it some time"

You let out a defeated sigh before grabbing your phone, typing a quick text to the number you still haven't saved again since you deleted it the first time because "that way you won't be tempted to text her".

To answer your question about what I’d like to see in the future, first of all I just want to say that I am so so deeply glad you’ve started writing and sharing your work with us, I just think you are so so so good at writing and extremely original with each concept you come up with!! I get SO excited every time I see you’ve posted something!! Personally, my favorite fics to read are female reader with either Wanda or Natasha, or with wandanat. Hands down my most favorite fic you’ve written and that I find myself thinking about frequently is, ‘you have me for the night,’ like it is seriously mindblowingly amazing as a concept and the way you executed it!😍

My other favorites you have so kindly created and shared with us to enjoy include ‘ups and downs,’ I just can’t get over how fantastic your writing is and how funny and enthralling this story is. ‘Taste,’ simply had me in a chokehold with how hot it was and all the pining and sexual tension! Your vampire reader stories and ‘inspiration,’ are also some of my personal favorites from you.

I think I personally really like stories that have some pining and build up which you write soooo deliciously well.

I would also eat it up if you ever had any interest in a female reader and Wanda or wandanat fic with reader being a new avenger and a werewolf who discovers that Wanda (or wandanat) is her mate when she joins the team. Maybe Wanda (or wandanat) even doesn’t like reader much or doesn’t trust her when she joins so it’s like an enemies to lovers, lots of pining kind of situation.

Summary: For some time now, Wanda has had visions of you. She doesn't know who you are, but when her senses lead her and her girlfriend, Natasha Romanoff, to a club, they end up learning more about the world than they thought they knew.

You danced in a dress that you wanted forever with red lipstick painted on your lips.

The poppy music swirled around you and through the club, as you drank and made quick friends with girls you knew wouldn't remember your name the next day.

Only the fact that your teeth sunk into their neck.

And the cry of pleasure that followed.

Regardless, with a smile, you danced and drank (as if you could even get drunk) and waited for the woman you had been dreaming of for the last few months.

A woman you knew belonged to you.

A woman who, like you, had been dreaming of someone she felt connected to.

"Wanda, are you sure this is it?" Natasha Romanoff asked of her partner Wanda Maximoff as they arrived outside the club The Full Moon.

To say Natasha was annoyed would be an understatement. Her girlfriend Wanda had been having these dreams of an ethereal animalistic woman for months.

Wanda was open and honest about what she would see. Natasha almost wishes she wasn't.

Almost.

And yes, Natasha knew what she was experiencing was jealousy, but when her girlfriend says she "feels a connection" to this mysterious person, how else was she supposed to feel?

So, as the two of them entered the club, they both had their sights set on finding you. Whoever you were.

The second the pair of Monster Hunters enter the club, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Your sense going off. Yet, through the bodies of people in the club, you can't locate them as quickly.

Especially in your human form.

With a sigh, you give your empty glass to a hammered girl with big boobs and glasses as you leave the dance floor.

You hope to find the two monster hunters faster this way.

However, across the club, as the rainbow lights bounce off everything around Wanda and Natasha, they also sense something is off. Wanda gives Natasha a quizzical look after they order their drinks.

A purple cocktail for Wanda and a beer for Natasha.

"You sense it?" Wanda asks. Natasha nods as her eyes are already scanning what she can see. "A monster on this side of town? This late into the month? I don't know." Natasha replied to Wanda, who picked up her cocktail seconds after it was delivered.

Wanda also looks around the spacious room. "See anything?" She asks Natasha, who shakes her head. The two of them are experts in their field. They should be able to snuff out who or what is breaking the laws set before them, but they can't.

On top of that, they're off the clock.

Natasha turns back to the bar and takes a sip of her beer. Wanda looks at her girlfriend. "Let's just focus back on finding this mysterious person and figure out why I'm drawn to them."

Once again, that option isn't as thrilling to Natasha, but she follows along. She loves Wanda and knows how much this means to her. "Okay." She says, grabbing Wanda's hand and following her to the dance floor.

You move from your sat postion at a table far too close to a speaker as you watch the way a redhead follows another woman hand in hand into the crowd of drunks on the lit-up floor.

"Gotcha." You whisper spotting the off the clock Monster Hunters silhouetted in black. You smile, knowing you like to have fun with these people regardless, but it is far too late into the night for them to do anything.

After Midnight.

In the middle of a sea of people, Natasha and Wanda slowly start to lose themselves to the indie pop hits of today, but just as Wanda goes to finish off her cocktail, she gasps. Natasha immediately notices and comes to her side. "What is it?"

A vision plays out in Wanda's head—a vision you also see.

You smirk as the vision dissapears in your mind. You finally figured out what these visions mean.

"What is it?" Natasha asks as Wansa looks up and around the place. "She's here." Natasha looks as well but stops when Wanda gestures towards you, making your way through the crowd.

Natasha freezes as she looks over you. You're, of course, gorgeous (something maybe Wanda didn't fully explain), and you're wearing a red dress that hugs your curves beautifully.

Natasha looks from you to Wanda, whose mouth is slightly apart, in awe. "It's you," Wanda says, making you tilt your head with a smirk.

"Aside from my visions... Where do I know her from?" You question yourself before you stand in front of the pretty pair of faces looking at you. "Hi!" You say it with a sultry tone, making Natasha blatantly roll her eyes. Something you find amusing. Something Wanda ignores as she brings her body closer to you. "Hi." She says it with a soft, almost too-quiet tone.

"So you're from my vision." You cut to the chase as you bring your body closer to the brunette. Ignoring the glares from the redhead. "And you're from mine," Wanda replies.

Natasha huffs as she interrupts the eye fucking going on. "Okay. Yes. You have dreams about one another. What does that mean?" Natasha not so subtly moves in between you and the brunette. You look from the girl with the soft expression to the one with raging red hair. "And you are?" You say, biting back a smirk.

Natasha hates your attitude, forcing herself to narrow her eyes. She thinks you're lucky she's using all her strength not to fight you right now. "I'm Natasha Romanoff. I'm this one girlfriend." She says, pointing back to the brunette.

You smile. "Girlfriend?" You ask, questioning the other woman, who nods. "I'm Wanda. Wanda Maximoff." She extends her hand and raises her voice above the club music. You gingerly take her hand and shake it. The action sends a jolt of electricity through the two of you. Making you smile even wider.

"What?" Natasha asks as she sees the look on your face.

"It's just you two don't know why you've been having these visions, do you?" Each person shakes their head at you. "Well... there's no easy way to say this." You look around. Maybe the middle of the dance floor isn't the best place. "Follow me." You say to them, not caring if Natasha wants to follow or not.

You knew Wanda would.

You paid off the bouncer to the VIP area and closed the door to a private room. "Oh, come on." Natasha groans, seeing the bed in the middle of the room. "I didn't know The Full Moon was this kind of place." Wanda quietly held in a laugh as her girlfriend squeezes her hand. Annoyed. "It's not like that, I promise." You say, gesturing between you and Natasha, ignoring the comment about the bed as you move in front of the girlfriends.

It was just there for people to have a good time consensually.

As you look from one face to the other, it clicks for you.

However, just to be sure, you lightly sniff the air in the room, and your senses instantly alert you to the presence of two Monster Hunters.

The ones in front of you. 

You can't help but shake your head and smirk.

"You two don't seem to know much about this place." You say to Natasha mainly. She rolls her eyes again. "Look, just tell us the real reason we're here." You put your hands up in a fake surrender and walk over the bed. Sitting down on it before moving back ever so slightly. Your covered breasts and long tan legs perfectly make Wanda want more.

"Wanda is my mate." You come right out and say it, knowing it would throw the two of them for a loop.

Also laughing knowing that they're Monster Hunters. They weren't supposed to be able to mate with said Monsters.

Wanda stares at you wide-eyed as if she can't believe what she just heard. Even if it was the truth and not that far from unbelievable.

She has witches blood in her after all.

Natasha, on the other hand, can't fathom it. She laughs like it's a big prank and steps closer to you. "Mate? Yeah right. Okay. Quit messing around around. Tell us the real reason."

You squint your eyes at Natasha and lie down on the bed. Sighing. "That is the real reason." Natasha opens and closes her mouth before stumbling to say: "Only Monsters can have mates." Natasha looks at you and slowly backs up. Grabbing a stunned Wanda, the two of them move away from the bed. "If it's true, then you're a Monster. That's why we sensed something. It was you!"

You lift your head up slightly. "First correction. Monsters aren't the only ones who can have mates. And secondly, do I look like a monster to you?"

"I th-"

"I was asking Wanda." Natasha closes her mouth and looks at her girlfriend. Her gaze on the person on the bed. You. "I.. I don't think you look like a Monster."

"Wanda!" Natasha says, unable to believe what Wanda was saying. Or trying to say. "I'm a beauty, Nat. What can I say." You smirk before looking at Natasha and winking. 

Even before tonight, she was having trouble coming up with reasons to be here, but now she's really struggling.

Natasha looks from Wanda to you once more. "What are you?"

"Wanda's mate. Now I don't know-"

"What are you really!?" Natasha asks, not wanting to hear any more about you and HER girlfriend. "Tasha." Wanda quietly says as she pulls on Nat's hand.

Wanda understands Natasha's frustrations and anger, but to Wanda, you were attractive, and Wanda did want to know more. Being rude wasn't going to solve anything.

You slowly pull yourself up and off the bed. Standing several feet away from the two. "I'm a Werewolf." You say, a tad quieter than you had been all night.

Something Natasha and Wanda picked up on.

"How do we know you're not lying?" Natasha asks, looking for more answers. "Aren't the visions enough?" You reply, almost annoyed. Natasha shakes her head. "Prove what you are."

You roll your eyes and take steps closer to Wanda and Natasha. Neither woman moving away. They're intrigued. You lift your upper lip up so the Monster Hunters can see a large canine tooth form before going away.

"The closer it gets to a full moon, the harder it becomes to control my human form."

Silence rests between everyone.

"Funny name for a bar then, no?" Wanda breaks the tension with a joke that makes you laugh. A sound Wanda giggles at.

Natasha squeezes Wanda's hand and does her best not to smile as she looks at you. "So now what?"

"Well, you're not taking me in. I'll tell you that." You look from the green shimmer in Wanda's eyes. "We won't," Wanda says without missing a beat.

Natasha sighs. "We weren't going to anyways. It's after hours and... and now the situation's complicated."

Truthfully, Natasha didn't care if she saw you ever again. But the more Wanda hung around you, the harder it was to pull her back.

"You know..." Natasha speaks up. "We came here tonight with one goal in mind. To see who Wanda was sharing visions with. But now that she's supposedly your mate and all that... What happens?" Natasha swallows and looks from Wanda to you and back. "Because I'm not losing Wanda to you. Not tonight." Natasha shakes her head as her eyes sting. But she sniffles and holds back the tears.

The thought of Wanda not being with her is eating away at her.

"You don't have to lose Wanda." You smirked as you brought your body closer and closer to Wanda. Her soft eyes going from her girlfriend to you.

She doesn't want to lose Natasha either.

"You know..." You lift your hand, making Natasha step forward, but she stops when she sees you push some hair from Wanda's face. "Us Monsters or Werewolf's aren't like Seahorses." Wanda tilts her head as she lays your hand on her cheek, bringing your eyes to Natasha. "Mating doesn't end with one person. It's normal and what usually happens, but... it doesn't have to be."

You bring your gaze back to Wanda as she looks from you to Natasha. Both of them understand your words. "You wouldn't lose her, Natasha."

You're honest and surprisingly caring. At least that's what Natasha thinks of you now.

"What are you doing now?" Natasha asks as you lean forward and look at Wanda's skin—especially the beautiful place on her neck.

Wanda can sense what you're thinking. "She wants to bite me." Natasha widens her eyes and goes to push you away, but you quickly grab her arm and twist it.

Your true strength coming through.

"I'm trying to be a good, good girl." You let go of Natasha, making her huff and stand in between you and Wanda. "I'm sorry I just love a little drama."

"We should get going," Natasha speaks to you as her eyes never leave yours. Yet she doesn't move. The second she gives you makes your mouth work faster than your brain. "I'm feeling kinda freaky." You raise a playful eyebrow. "Maybe it's the moonlight. Maybe it's something else. The club lights?" You shrug and step closer to Natasha.

Wanda watches as your eyes travel to Nat's smooth skin.

"I kinda wanna kiss your girlfriend, if you don't mind."

Natasha opens her mouth to argue, but Wanda stops her. "She's not talking to you," Wanda says as Nat looks back at you, wearing a widening grin. "M-me?" Natasha asks you.

And since walking into the club, the chip on Natasha's shoulder melts away. Wanda walks up behind her girlfriend, wraps her arms around her, and kisses her cheek. "We could never lose each other."

Yet Natasha still can't process what you're asking.

You nod as she stares at you. "You, Natasha." Wanda brings her lips up to Natasha's ears. "It's okay." You nod as your ears pick up Wanda's words. "And then Wanda."

"And then Wanda-" Natasha gets cut off as you invade her space and take her face in your hands. Your callous fingers move down Natasha's cheek as your aggressive kiss slows into one of passion.

This is what I wanted. This is what I like.

When you pull away, your lips are darker. Natasha stands stunned before bringing her fingers to her lips. Touching where you just were. "Yo-you just kissed me.?" She speaks, making you blush. "We can do more than that." You offer with a laugh.

Wanda, with her eyes dark, can read your mind as your kiss with Natasha opens up the connection between the three of you.

She knows you're not joking about the offer.

"Wanda..." Natasha turned her attention to Wanda as her girlfriend looked over her fondly. Lovingly. Natasha can see Wanda isn't upset by what just happened. Making Natasha's brain scramble for an answer.

A solution to the chaos of tonight.

"It'll be okay." Wanda steps forward and gives a quick peck. She can even taste you on Nat's pretty pink lips.

"B-but now... now what?" Natasha asks as she can't even think. You make your presence known again as you gently bring your hands to Natasha's. "We belong together. We make it real. I want to make this real." Natasha watches you for a moment in silence before your hands leave hers and grab Wanda's hair.

Moving it over her shoulder.

Exposing her neck.

This wasn't right.

And yet. Natasha can't help but move closer. Her mind being made up with each step. Natasha holds Wanda as you open your mouth.

However, it wasn't until the three of you were in the middle of the dance floor once again that you put your canine teeth in the side of her neck.

A scream of pleasure left her, and after midnight, that night, the three of you became more.

summary: You hate the song Hot To Go and what's worse? The singer who sang it was your girlfriend. But what happens when she walks into your shared apartment and sees you dancing to it in your living room?

You and Chappell had always had a bit of a musical divide, which was pretty obvious given her career as a musical artist. You couldn’t stand her hit song "Hot To Go," and she totally respected that. It wasn’t the end of the world.

The song was catchy, sure, but it was also relentlessly overplayed—constantly blasting on the radio, all over your TikTok FYP, with people doing cringe-worthy renditions and declaring how it was their favorite song. You could almost feel your stomach churn every time it came on. But it wasn’t like you didn’t appreciate her talents. You loved hearing her sing, her voice was like a beautiful melody that had a calming effect on you. Sitting in the studio with her, listening to her belt out her latest tracks, was always therapeutic.

What neither of you could understand was why you had such a strong aversion to "Hot To Go"—and why it never seemed to get any better in your ears, despite your best efforts. But after months of hearing it in the background, you thought, Maybe I should give it another chance.

One day, Chappell was busy at the studio, so you had the apartment to yourself. You figured it was a good time to clean up a little, but as you started tidying, you decided to put on some music. What started as a heavy metal playlist quickly turned into something else entirely. Without even realizing it, the familiar opening beat of her song came on. You couldn’t help it. You pressed repeat, letting it play as you cleaned. Soon enough, you were doing the "Hot To Go" dance, moving around the apartment, singing along to the lyrics. It felt… kinda fun.

What you didn’t realize was that the front door had opened. Chappell walked in just as you were mid-dance, and you froze when you heard her voice.

"Babe?! I'm home bitc—Oh." She stopped in the doorway, her voice trailing off as her eyes landed on you mid-dance. You slowly turned, your eyes going wide as you let out a nervous cough. The song was still playing in the background, the lyrics now painfully loud.

"Uh... Hi?" you said sheepishly, cheeks turning a soft shade of red. Chappell stood there with her arms crossed, raising an eyebrow. You could tell she was holding back a grin.

"Did I just see you dancing to my song?" she asked, her voice filled with amusement. You choked a little, your throat going dry.

"What?! Psh, no," you tried to lie, but she tilted her head, giving you a look that said she wasn’t buying it.

"Okay, fine. Maybe I was," you admitted, feeling a weight lift off your chest now that it was out in the open.

You walked over to her, a small smile tugging at your lips as you reached out and took her hands in yours. "The song kinda grew on me... and I didn’t want you to tell me 'I told you so' when I finally admitted it," you confessed, making her laugh softly.

"Babe... I hate to say it, but I told you so," she teased, singing the words like a victory anthem. You rolled your eyes playfully.

"Yeah, whatever," you muttered, but before you could say anything more, she pulled you in for a kiss. Your lips met, soft and gentle at first, then deepening as you both gave in to the moment.

When you finally pulled apart, you couldn’t help but blush. Even after almost two years together, your cheeks still went red every time you kissed her. It was something she’d never let you live down, always bragging about how you were still so easily flustered.

"You wanna order some food?" she asked, looking at you with a mischievous glint in her eyes. Your face immediately lit up, because, honestly, you could never turn down food—especially not when it was with her.

"Hell yeah, let’s get Burger King," you said, grinning as you walked into the living room, Chappell following behind. "Hot To Go" continued to play softly in the background, but this time, you didn’t mind.

Hot to Go!

“It’s Chappell Roan Day!” you nearly screamed at the crack of dawn. You’d been waiting for this day for a month and a half, eager to see your newfound idol. “Cakey, baby, it's 6 a.m.,” Vernon mumbled into your chest, still half-asleep. “But I’m so excited! I can’t believe I’m going to see her!” you say, a little quieter but with the same enthusiasm. “I’m excited too,” he says, lifting his head. “But we need to sleep.” You give him the cutest pout, clearly not wanting to go back to sleep. “If you wanna be the loudest in the crowd, you gotta rest, Cupcake,” Vernon says with a soft chuckle. You let out a scoff but obey, snuggling back into bed. Vernon places a light kiss on your forehead, and soon, you both drift back to sleep.

“We’re going to be late, Babycakes,” Vernon calls from the doorframe. You’ve been getting ready for the past three hours, determined to look your absolute best. You’re currently putting the finishing touches on your makeup. Glitter decorates your eyelids, and a bit on your puffy cheeks—everything has to be perfect. “One sec,” you whine, applying shiny lip gloss to your pillowy lips. You glance at your outfit in the mirror for the hundredth time that evening. You’re wearing a pink mini skirt, a leopard print top with pink detailing, and your signature gold necklace—Vernon’s gift—with “Cupcake” written in cursive. Vernon can’t help but admire how beautifully everything fits you. “My heels!” you exclaim, grabbing your thick leopard print heels from the closet. As you bend down, your mini skirt rides up, revealing your pretty pink panties. Vernon walks over, scoops you up, and places you gently on the bed. “I can do it myself, Bononie,” you protest, handing him the heels. “Can you, though?” he teases with a smirk. You roll your eyes, but he just smiles and gives you a quick peck on the cheek as he helps you with the heels.

5, 6... 5, 6, 7, 8! A loud shriek escapes your lips. “It’s Hot to Go! She’s playing Hot to Go!” you yell with all your might. Vernon smiles at you, watching as you jump up and down, singing along to the song. While Vernon likes Chappell Roan, it’s obvious he doesn’t adore her as much as you do. H - O - T - T - O - G - O Snap and clap and touch your toes Raise your hands, now body roll Dance it out, you’re Hot to Go “H - O - T - T - O - G - O,” you scream the lyrics, moving your arms to form the letters. You glance over your shoulder for a second to see your "npc" boyfriend. Vernon is standing there, smiling back at you. “Baby, you have to do it,” you yell over the music. “Okay, okay,” he laughs, brushing it off. “Do you know the choreo?” you ask with a giggle. “Yes,” Vernon laughs with you. “H - O - T - T - O - G - O,” you sing again with all your might, moving your arms to the choreography. Vernon stands slightly behind you, doing the same. You can take me Hot to Go “Louder! Sing louder!” you yell at him. “H - O - T - T - O - G - O, you can take me Hot to Go!” Vernon’s now singing much louder, making you smile from ear to ear. “I love you, Bononie!” you yell. “I love you too, Cupcake,” he replies with a grin.

Authors note: OMGGG if you’re seeing this, this is my first ever drabble!! I’m so excited to see how people react to it. This post is also the first ever appearance of a lil character of my own, Cupcake!reader who is almost like a golden retriever character that will most likely only be used when I write abt Vernon. But that may change in the future. Anyways thank you sm for reading it and i hope you liked it 🩷🩷

So in the semester recap, you put in the comments of Hannah’s post Gabe saying “is it casual now”. I want to know what Gabe’s reaction to Chapel Roan for the first time would be. I feel like he would be so confused at first, then Emma would have to explain it to him.

HAHAHA yes yes emma would be playing one of her playlists in her room and when chappell roan comes on gabe is like ?? knee deep in the passenger seat?? is it casual now??

gabe was always for listening to new music, especially emma’s because he wouldn’t lie, she did have some good artists in her shuffle. she got him on sza, tate mcrae, tyler the creator, and even sabrina carpenter which the guys definitely chirped at him for but he didn’t care when the music was good.

today, emma said she had a new playlist on as they studied in her room. there were some new songs catching the boy’s attention in the mix of the songs he’s heard before and so far, he was vibing with all of them.

apple by charli xcx? banger. “brat” summer? gabe didn’t really get what that meant but he liked the music emma put on to get him to understand.

the next song quickly caught his attention. he was pretty sure he never heard whoever was singing before, but the lyrics were quickly perking his ears up as the artist sang “knee deep in the passenger seat and you’re eating me out. is it causal now?”

“wait, what is this song?” he finally spoke up and emma snapped her gaze to him from her desk.

“huh?”

“who’s singing about getting eaten out in the car??” the boy was a bit shocked to say the least and then emma finally realized what was playing. she quickly giggled.

“ah, we’ve finally made it to chappell roan. i think she’s a new artist for you,” the blonde grinned.

“i’m just so shocked she’s singing about that,” gabe said and emma raised her eyebrow.

“why? sabrina carpenter sings about wanting to get pregnant because she’s just so in love.”

“okay well that’s different.”

“is it?” emma and gabe stared at one another for a second as chappell sang the chorus again.

“what does it even mean? knee deep in the passenger seat? is this about a situationship?”

“i mean, like yeah basically. like is it causal when you ate me out? is it casual that we’re doing all of this relationship stuff?” emma explained the song and gabe slowly started understanding.

“brave of her to write a song about it,” he hummed.

“true but it really gets the girlies and the gays so, she really knew how to hit deep,” the blonde grinned and gabe chuckled.

“i guess so.”

“just wait until we get to her entire discography. it gets intense” emma winked before returning to her schoolwork.

gabe didn’t really know what that meant but he quickly learned when the next four songs in the shuffle were chappell roan and emma made him dance break to hot to go.

♡ charli xcx, of course!! she has been an absolute icon this year with brat and all the remixes and collaborations and such, brat blew up so much and is THE most iconic album of 2024 and so of course the creator of this masterpiece had to be on here too! 🩷

sabrina carpenter

♡ sabrina carpenter has been the pop princess of 2024 and her success is growing every single day. i've only been listening since emails i cant send but she has blown up so much it shocks me. espresso was a global hit and with the ongoing short n' sweet tour i think she's only going to get bigger. love u brina 💭

chappell roan

♡ chappell roan. though the only thing she released this year was good luck, babe, which was still an absolutely huge success, she has been SO iconic throughout the entirety of 2024, with all her performances and appearances, along with her tour and the success of hot to go in the summer. shes too iconic not to put up here ♡

kendrick lamar

♡ okay i don't even LISTEN to kendrick lamar and yet i KEPT hearing about him CONSTANTLY this year. his music kinda goes hard actually and that whole thing w drake as well?? honestly though hes not on my playlist i definitely think the world has heard too much about him for him not to make it up here 💬

tyler, the creator

♡ tyler the creator i feel like also deserves a mention in this list. i also kept hearing so much about him and his music is genuinely so good. chromakopia was such a massive success and all of his albums are so incredibly complex and enjoyable it would be a crime not to put him up here ♡

honourable mention 🧸𓂃 ࣪˖

though there wasn't a place for her on the leaderboard, i definitely feel ariana grande deserves a special mention, with the success of eternal sunshine and the part she played in the success of wicked in november. we love u ari ♡

best k-pop 👛𓂃 ࣪˖

i feel like kpop deserves its own little section because its so different to western music in the way of management and music output. and the winner of said section for this year has to be stray kids. with ATE in july and their new album in december, they have been touring and collaborating and going all out this year. i am more of a casual listener these days but i have not been able to stop hearing about them. they are so iconic every year but this year i cant think of anyone that tops them in all honesty 🩷✨️♡

🎀🎧 ྀི𓂃 ࣪˖ 2024 MUSIC SUMMARY

2024 was a very much pop-oriented year in the world of music, and with hyperpop being surprisingly the top genre, many conflicts were started and many bangers were made. though i can't say its been a legendary musical year, its definitely been a memorable one, and i feel next year will only continue that and take it even further. i look forward to seeing what 2025 brings for us in the music scene, and i hope you all have a beautiful new year, inside and outside of music 💬🩷🫶🏻🎀🎧⭐️
