hi everyone! apologies for the wait, i graduate soon! i also tried writing this once and then it didn’t save to my drafts 🥲 i hope you enjoy it, i don’t write this genre much!

inevitable | yeong-gi x reader

he felt as though he was drowning. he didn’t know what to tell you; what did you want to hear? he was still with alyssa, so why did seeing your disappointment make him hurt so badly?

people might say it was inevitable. alyssa’s fans had been saying that it was a loveless relationship, and on one hand, it was. but on another.. he did care for her, deeply. just not romantically. people fall out of love all the time, so why did it hurt so badly?

he looked into your eyes, unsure of how to reason what he just did. there was no reason. there was no reason for him to kiss you while he was in a relationship. there was no reason to make you feel like a homewrecker.

“i..”

“you what, yeong-gi. spit it out.”

it wasn’t a question, it was a fact; what? what had gone through his mind at that point, he didn’t know.

“i’d choose you.”

the words tumbled out before he could stop them. he had to stand there and watch as your eyes widened and stared at him in disbelief.

“i didn’t ask who you’d choose, idiot! what do you think that is? some consolation prize? i don’t care! you know i would never do that to her!”

your teeth were clenching and unclenching, chattering while you also shook from the cold. he looked down, eyes darting around like he couldn’t stand to look at you anymore.

you were right- what was he thinking? you were one of alyssa’s friends, there was no way you’d actually have a relationship with him.

“no, (y/n), i..”

“no! no! nothing! i don’t want to hear it.”

your hand raised before hitting it right across his cheek. the shock was apparent; his hand immediately covering his cheek. though, he could see the regret immediately flash through your eyes, causing him to barely suppress a smile. you were too kind.

yeong-gi turned to walk away, shrugging off his jacket and wrapping it around your shoulders while continuing to walk away. stopping at the doorway, he said two words before leaving completely;

“it’s okay.”
