The "party" Bill's referring to is Weirdmageddon, of course. He was quite the ashhole to everyone back then.

Ford has probably gotten pretty good at the 'tune out your psychopathic ex with dank memes' challenge.

It must be very cathartic to be able to make Bill shut up whenever you want with just the press of a button. I'm sure Ford doesn't abuse this ability at all.

Why is Ford even there, you might ask? Well, he either decided he preferred to watch Bill suffer in person over being distantly and repeatedly harassed with the same evil desperation book for the rest of his life, or he got roped into some kind of contrived community service for 1.) all his many counts of interdimensional thievery, and 2.) his ignoring all the very clear warnings to NOT summon Bill in the first place (which I like to imagine is also illegal). Theraprism staff were just like, 'Wait, this guy matters to Bill? Ooh, we can USE that! It might be the only thing that can help him want to get better!' It is not considered that throwing Ford at Bill so soon after Weirdmageddon could instead make them both WORSE - in new and altogether special ways! :D

Anyway, I'm calling it the Community Service AU, and I am most likely not going to do anything else with it beyond appropriating these silly Good Place jokes. So, feel free to adopt the concept if y'all wanna??? Just make sure that Bill is still not allowed to swear, no matter what, full stop. It's gotta be a real linguistic corkblork of a situation for him, is all I'm sayin'.

GOOD OMENS — Chapter 5: The Ball.

Okay but what if Johnny drags his sweetheart along the zoo to tell them all the fun facts, but they also do the same, dragging him along with excited gasps as they see an animal they really like.

So in the end, they spend hours in front of various enclosures, exchanging facts that become weirder and weirder each time (« did ye ken the male echidna’s penis has four heads ? » - « wut »), while the team either keeps losing them among the crowd or struggles to follows. Price and Kyle are pretty weirded out by some of the facts, while Simon just silently goes « huh. » each time.

At some point, they choose to wait for them at the end of the visit to finish their never-ending conversation - except they never do, because they keep going back and forth between each enclosure whenever one of them remembers a fact they didn’t tell the other back then. So they either drag them out of the zoo themselves, or wait for the staff to do it at the end of the day.

Even though being out of the zoo doesn’t mean Johnny and his pretty darling stop trading facts. Not at all.

I also got a thought for something like this with Roach (because this boy doesn’t get enough love even though he’s originally part of the team).

Gary really likes books - they’re silent, yet so full of wonders of all kinds they never fail to grab his attention.

And while he admires the cover of the next volume of one of his favourite series, the person standing next to him gently pokes at his elbow, not wasting a second after he looks at them to offer him a completely random yet really interesting fact about how the author came to write this.

His attention is now solely focused on them - even more when they seem to realise, with his hesitant yet enthusiastic gestures, that he prefers using sign language, thus immediately switching to the familiar gestures. His eyes light up even more, and the book is quickly forgotten as they exchange facts, theories and headcanons about the whole series.

Needless to say that, after this, the book dates never stops.

the squad goes to an aquarium for team building whatsoever and simon falls absolutely in love with this nerd who keeps spewing fish facts to their own group who, for the most part, are interested and intrigued.

he doesn’t even realize that he started shadowing them until one of the girls turned around, perfectly trimmed brow cocked up, and goes, “uhm sir, what the actual fuck are ye tryna do?”

“uh,” simon utters, unintelligible because yeah, what the actual fuck was he trying to do? “fish facts? i, uh, wan’ t’hear more, s’all.”

“oh!” you cheer, chuckling, vibrating from where you’re standing. “that’s great! we’re on our way to see the invertebrates — d’you wanna tag along?”

“sure,” simon murmurs, not really clocking into what you said, just that you are finally looking at him and simon is gone. taken away by the crinkles of your eyes and the creases when you smile, and the way your hand flaps in uncontainable excitement. “i’d love that.”

you hum, nodding, before turning around to go. only then does simon notice your friends’ knowing looks.

“what,” he bites out, blushing in embarrassment at being caught.

the one who’d confronted him just sighs like this is a common occurrence.

(meanwhile, simon’s friends are blowing up his inbox because they just fucking lost their tank of a best friend.)
