Here We Go Again With the Bullshit

I don't often speak on politics here but I'm going to take a very brief moment to say that I'm fucking pissed off, so FUCKING PISSSED OFF, that I had to wake up to the election of Donald Trump as president elect in 2024. Trumpism is antithetical to everything I believe in. Always has been and always will be. That's all I have to say about this at the moment. Lamenting the ineffectual nature of the Democratic party, the United States' deep racism and general feelings about misogyny will have to wait. My best to all of you out there who tried, who were targets, and who will now live in a far more dangerous atmosphere in the aftermath. Find one another. Support one another. Care for one another. Shit just got harder for everyone (even the dumb assholes who elected a traitorous criminal rapist piece of shit, they just don't know it yet). I'm off to be worried and sad and incoherently angry. I've got to sit with the young punk in me who continues to hate Ronald Reagan and commiserate about having to live with the moral shortcomings of your society and that, while fighting the good fight is necessary even if you don't win (or even face the chance of winning), it's fucking tiring and how you wish more people would just BE BETTER and that another world IS possible but so many people are just so fucking stupid. So fucking stupid. It's back to the trenches people. My love and affection to you all unless you voted for Trump. Fuck you in that case. Just. Fuck. You. As the current fascist regime takes power, and the Cheeto in Chief churns out executive orders like they're going out of style (32 so far and he's only been 'in office' for less than a week), let's keep in mind that executive orders are NOT laws, and there's a very high possibility that many of them will be overturned, either by Congress or by various courts throughout the country.

These are essentially the Cheeto walking into a candy store and saying I want that and that and that and that and that and that and that and that. He may fill his cart to overflowing, but someone is gonna come in and say "WHOA BIG FELLA, you can't have all of those", after which he'll take to whatever social media site he's got in his pocket (spoiler alert, just about all of them now) to whine and pout and throw his tantrum over, likely tossing outrageous claims to shift blame somewhere ridiculous and getting all this suckups clamoring all over themselves to be loudly stupid and distract from all the other illegal things he and his cronies are trying to do.

Don't be discouraged. Don't stop fighting. Don't obey in advance.

And don't get bogged down fighting right-wing idiots that will never see their ignorance. Fighting other average joes isn't going to accomplish anything. They've chosen to be hateful, to be willfully hurtful in an effort to 'own the libs' or whatever it is they tell themselves to justify it. Let them wallow in their own stupidity. There are bigger things to focus on.

Be vigilant. Be calm. Knee jerk reactions aren't helpful. Keep contacting your representatives and tell them you are very much NOT in favor of what the Cheeto's doing or advocating for. Be respectful and mature and professional in your communications with them, but make it very, very clear that his actions do not represent your beliefs or wishes. And maybe a simple sentence like "I do not support the sitting president's policies, nor will I support any other political representative who does, making sure to vote against them--regardless of party--in all upcoming elections" would bring things a little more personal to these politicians.

Our voices are our most valuable asset. Let's use them to very loudly tell those who put this lump of turd in power that we DO NOT CONCEDE, we WILL NOT BEND, and WILL NEVER BOW to this farce of a presidential cabinet.

I know it's hard to see any light right now. I know there's a lot to be afraid of. But we need to keep moving. Keep fighting. Keep pushing back against this darkness.

I rarely post anything, but today was rattling for me too, a non US citizen. I can't imagine what y'all are going through, but please hold on to hope. To all my fellow women, queer, trans, anyone of any race or background or gender who felt that their rights as a human were threatened by the results of the election, remember there are people out there who love you and we care. They may not, but we do. Please reach out if you wish to talk.

On a similar note, reminder that a lot of us had no hand in the voting, we can still donate. We have resources, and even the tiniest amount might help save a life. Please research well, and donate if possible.
