Hi! What's your favorite fic you've ever written? and how do you feel about people making fanart for your works?
Woof, that's a hard question to answer. I have a soft spot for just about everything I've written, for one reason or another. But some of my favorites are:
There's Something About Scarlett - mostly because it was so different than anything else. A dystopian world full of monsters, with Scarlett looking for a kaiju-ed Knuckles. A lot of fun to write.
Forget Me Not - a continuation inspired by a fic by @mcfanely. It's focus is on the mainline versions of the gang, and gives some good Knux angst.
Rock Bottom - gotta include a Dread fic, and this one really shows him at his lowest. My beloved.
Rescue - gotta include a Callie fic, and this one shows how dedicated she is to keeping Knuckles safe. Don't mess with mama bear Callie.
Like I said, it's hard to boil it down to just one fic as my favorite. Which one's YOUR favorite?
And as for fanart of my stories
YES YES YES YES
I love receiving fanart, love love love it. So if anyone out there is inspired by my writing to draw or write something for it, HIT ME UP! I wanna see!

New water heater is here. We're gonna go down and work on installing it. It's propane, so here's hoping we don't blow ourselves up.

ALL THIS
Don't tell me to be flattered by it, don't tell me to feel good about it, don't tell me to just let it go. If someone takes MY work and uses it for THEIR gain--especially financial--that's STEALING. Full stop.
If someone takes MY work and feeds it through a shredder to twist and file the serial numbers off to pass it off as their own, that's STILL STEALING.
Whether it's photos, art, writing, or whatever other creative endeavor, gen ai STEALS from others to vomit out whatever slapshot thing you told it to make. YOU aren't an artist now, YOU aren't a writer now, you just dumped other people's hard work into this machine to copy and paste something it pieced together. It's wrong to do on a personal scale, and SUPER WRONG to do on a professional one.
Stop defending it, stop using it, stop pretending you're 'not hurting anyone'. Millions of creative people are having their hard work stolen every day because lazy people want the end result without the hard work that goes with it. Without properly compensating those who actually do the work for real.
Keep shitting all over artists and other creatives and soon there won't be anyone left to steal from.
I implore all of you to please respect the artists around you. The Generative AI debate has always been good at one thing and that's revealing who doesn't respect artists and wants to use them as a means to an end. This comes down to just basic consent and respect for boundaries. Even when artists just bring up how they would like to have the power to opt out of data training (have legal protection if their work is scraped and transparency in data processes to ensure it hasn't) or be fairly compensated for their work being scraped by a multi-million or billion dollar company, they're called entitled gatekeepers. You're welcome to give your art, photos or writing to AI companies for free if you want, but others should be able to opt out or be paid.
All of these artists (none of whom are by any means rich and may even be actively struggling to afford necessities) are being treated with contempt, as if they're the elite 1% and access to art is impossible (there are hundreds if not thousands of small local artists that can be hired by small businesses for instance). It is disheartening to see so many people telling artists, many of whom have spent decades honing their crafts that they should be happy they're going un-credited and uncompensated. In any other case with copyright infringement or plagiarism an artist's ability to protect their work has been the norm for over a century, it shouldn't be any different now.
Artists should have say over what happens with their work, just as everyday people should have say over what happens with their own personal photos and likeness. If someone specifically took photographs of you and your family without permission and mixed them together to make "new" people for their advertisements, you probably wouldn't like that very much (and yes that is also happening. Gen AI doesn't just scrape art, it scrapes photos and doesn't discern between what's an ethical photo and what's not ((i.e., photos that would break the law to be in possession of, lets say))).
If your company model solely relies on unlimited access to everyone's art, writing, photos and likeness for free without permission and while deliberately violating personal boundaries, maybe your model shouldn't exist.

Think it's about time to toss out the discord links once again.
One for fans of the movie-verse. We discuss theories, plot ideas, and headcanons for the SCU and all that includes.
And one for Knuckles lovers. We talk about every version of him, with all the angst and heart-tugging headcanons that go with it.
Keep in mind these are both 18+ servers, so no minors please! (We do not allow NSFW content, we simply want to ensure that everyone is safe and comfortable.)

WOW.
Just . . . wow.
So, we writers not only have to deal with people not interacting with our work, we should also feel forced to update faster and more often to hopefully keep people from feeding our stories into ai. Ultimately meaning it's OUR fault ai's being used?
You are exactly the type of reader that makes people stop writing in the first place. You are greedy and impatient, and don't appreciate what you get, you just want more more more. (And not in the good way.)
Grow up.
Maybe if people updated more we wouldn't turn to ai
You’re a pathetic, impatient loser. Fanfic writers owe you nothing, and their writing is their own, not yours to do with as you choose, you entitled brat.

list of favorite things as a fanfic author:
When someone is really freaking mad at me for inducing an emotional response from them
when readers give me a background of how/when they read my writing
when readers give me a background of why they shouldn’t have been reading my writing (usually while at work)
when readers quote my work back to me in comments
the frickin’ real heroes here, the ones who comment on every chapter of an ongoing multi-chapter fic

Sins of the Past

Commander Walters just wants to keep the world safe. All because he couldn't keep one little girl safe, a long time ago.
~~~
1974
Captain Walters watched as the stasis tube sank into the floor, filling with a special liquid, one that he had no idea the specifics of, or cared to. That wasn’t his end of things. He was merely there to keep tabs on the comings and goings of the soldiers, and provide the professor anything he needed. He and the other soldiers were there to make sure Uncle Sam was getting his money’s worth out of this whole classified fiasco.
Project Shadow.
The subject of which was a little space . . . something. No one was quite sure what it . . . he was, or where he came from. All they knew—and truthfully, all they really cared about—was the power the little guy emitted. An incredible power, with the potential to solve the energy crisis.
Or obliterate an entire nation.
Walters could guess which one the government really wanted to study.
It had all fallen to Professor Gerald Robotnik, the leading genius scientist enlisted by President Nixon himself. The professor was under strict orders to learn everything he could about this little alien, which was fine, for God and Country and all that, but he’d been given clearance to bring his granddaughter along. Walters wasn’t quite sure why, but she seemed harmless enough. A little mischievous, but nothing too terrible.
Until she befriended the alien.
